Transformers: Mosaic #534 - "Weight Of The World"
Originally posted on August 25th, 2010
Story, Colours - John-Paul Bove Art - Ed Pirrie
deviantART | Seibertron | TFW2005 | BotTalk
wada sez: A creation of Marvel UK writer Simon Furman, the Transformers’ god-creator Primus eventually appeared as a giant buried head in the main US series in issue #60, “Yesterday’s Heroes!”. On deviantART, Bove explained: “I figured if you were God (any god) and you couldn't intervene I just think it would be a horrible position to be in. To love your creation and know that you're losing them...” Ed Pirrie helpfully provided a list of every single character featured in this strip, including some obscured by captions—which I only spotted after googling every single Predacon to identify Razorclaw's sword and shoulder, go figure. Per Bove, the font used for the speech bubbles was “Resistance is Futile” from Comicraft. On his own deviantART, Pirrie would explain why he drew Jazz fighting Razorclaw: “I was recently annoyed by certain attitudes in the fandom berating Spotlight Jazz just because Razorclaw didn't kill him on the spot. What a load of bollocks. So this was a reaction to that.” See below for clean inks and colors, along with a sneak preview of tomorrow’s strip!

They're shared control of the body is split down the middle, they don't spend much time in alt mode, speaking is hard when you only control half the face.

The Rodimus Corner - Sinnertwin is said to prowl the perimiter of the Terrorcons' lair looking for trouble and hoping to find it! He likes to show off his razor-sharp teeth, piercing pronghorns, and steel-shredding claws. Ironically he is unnerved by small creatures like mice, insects, and mini-droids.

Another week, another round of figures for this month!
Tumblr media
First is Cyberverse Scout-class Ramjet, the least-worst of the Scout class toys in this line, in that he can assume a sort-of full-vehicle mode and not merely a half-vehicle-half robot monstrosity.
Tumblr media
Speaking of small toys, the original Legion-class Twinstrike got scaled up for the Prime Deluxe Twinstrike, lacking the extensive articulation of most Deluxes, but also being generally bulkier/bigger, which befits a bi-brained beastie. However, this was also one of the very last toys in the Prime line, to the point that North American retailers skipped this assortment altogether, making it functionall a European-market exclusive. (Toy from the collection of @therobotmonster)
Tumblr media
EarthSpark Deluxe Terran Nightshade is a delight. There's not really a lot to say here, they're a neat, slim robot who turns into a slick stylized owl-bot. The wings come disassembled in the packaging, and you can remove them for a more screen-accurate robot mode, but you wanna be careful about stressing them, even if they are more rubbery plastic.
I do kind of wish their face was a bit more showlike, that wide mouth-seam is weird.
Tumblr media
You want obscure? How about Generation 2 Watch Scorpia? Okay so... Takara had the Kronoform line in Japan, which they brought over to the US in 1984. Three of the Kronoform toys were do-branded as Transformers, but "Scorpia" was not one of them. They also released a series of "Watchtron" watches directly based on TF characters in Japan, but those didn't make it to the US.
But in 1993, when Hasbro put out G2, Takara went and released the nigh-decade old Watchtrons AND the Kronoform Scorpia and "Robot Time Machine" (THE prototypcial robot watch design in the 80s, with a billion knockoffs) as Generation 2 merchandise in the US, now with the frame around the LCD having the G2 branding. (Toy from the collection of @trixter)
Tumblr media
And finally for this week, it's Super7's ReAction Optimus Primal Burning Red, a non-transforming 3 3/4-inch "retro-style" action figure. This Target exclusive is based on the Japan-exclusive "Burning Convoy" toy... and I got it for six bucks on clearance the day before. Feelin' a bit rough today so wanted something easy. Still, he's shiny!
More next week!
Tumblr media
MAY MECH MARATHON
So for May's Patreon-backed @tfwiki toy picture batch, I got a wild hair. After last month's Exdimensions update, I realized that the wiki was missing Legend of the Microns (Armada) Exdimensions Twist (Makeshift), the only XD Emergency Team toy I hadn't done. So I did him up. Hooray!
Tumblr media
Then the next day I was staring at the raw photos I took of Retro Hot Rod, which were in my Patreon "working" folder because I didn't have a "Retro" repository folder because I am almost certainly not going to get any others in this line, so I did his pic up... besides, it's the "flagship" toy of the line, it should get unique imagery. God he's gorgeous.
At that point I went " to hell with it" and decided that for each weekday in May, I'd do one toy pic from a random, whatever-I-felt-like selection. No overarching theme, and trying to hit a pretty broad swath of toylines and timeframes. Thus...
Tumblr media
Not sure why I picked Universe Magna Stampede next. I actually had to dig him up to take these pics. I think I'd just chanced upon his stock imagery, which was craptastic and also showed the axe split in two, which I'm certain the toy is not supposed to do, and went "no, I'm'a fix this.
And this last week's updates...
Tumblr media
I picked up Decoy Smokescreen for cheap at TFCon, and really, the wiki's Decoy coverage has been... lacking. Mostly in that they were sold in so many colors and different ways in Japan that the wiki barely touches on. Smokescreen's page is now the template for how Decoys should be, so I'll get to those in time.
Tumblr media
There's not much story here with Animated Lugnut. Most of the wiki's Animated toy imagery is stock, and while stock quality had improved since 2003 (it'd almost have to), it's still not great. Taking pics of the real, final-release toy will almost always be preferable for a number of reasons.
Tumblr media
Takara's Mega Super Collection Figure Starscream was part of the big early-2000s burst of G1 merch in Japan. A 5-inch fairly-posable soft-plastic figure with swappable parts, he and a handful of other big-name characters were made, plus several Legends of the Microns headliners.
Tumblr media
Power Up VT6 is from the "Real Gear Robots" subline of the 2007 Transformers movie series, one of a large range of 1:1-scale toys that transform from personal electronic devices into robots. He's also one of the few whose altmode is not almost totally outdated. The Cybertron-based stickers on the early Real Gears led to the belief that these were canceled /re-assigned Cybertron toys, but nope! They were made specifically for the movie line, it's just that in order to get them into production, they had to get those decals out fast.
Tumblr media
Remember Attacktix? No? Not shocking. Hasbro had an admittedly cool idea for an action tabletop game, started the line with Star Wars, and moved on to Transformers. Yes, officially, you could have Optimus Prime fight Darth Vader. Battle Ravage was one of the booster-pack common pieces (laughably officially "Rare"). You rolled his base forward a set number of "tix" (a clicky-thing in the base counted them off), then could use his spring-loaded waist to swing the mace-ball in the hopes of knocking over your opponent's pieces. There's other rules but that's the jist of it. Each booster-pack piece commonly came with a black base, but there was a roughly 1-in-8 chance of getting a silver-chrome base one, which had no gameplay differences but it was shiny. Sadly, the whole Attacktix line was cancelled after only one series of Transformers pieces were released, with several more based on Generation 1 shown off but doomed to never see release.
Next Saturday, I'll update with the pics done over the course of this coming week!
And remember, if you like these big pic jaunts, you can help make this bigger and better by tossing a tip via Patreon. Just look up "gregstfwikipics" at that site! You can even help pick a monthly theme!

may i please request a scenario / oneshot with tfp shockwave being vulnerable and affectionate with reader in his own way?? him unmasking and feeling safe :'-] thank u so much if ur able to write this I love how sentimental your work is
Oooouuughhh anon your compliments fuel me, I'm gonna make the fluffiest, tenderest shockwave x reader drabble you ever did see
"So which variant is this dude?" You ask, carefully navigating Shockwave's desk as you make your way to the console, colossal screen displaying a diagram of a reconstructed Predacon. You really feel like a mouse around Shocker, especially when you have to step around all this massive equipment that lays in your path, made for hands that could hold your entire being. You're relieved when one of said hands is offered for you to climb onto, and you're carried to the console.
"This would be classified as the Sinnertwin build," he explained, his voice monotone as ever, but you don't miss the slight perk of his antennae or the slight speed increase of his words. "A two-headed creature, one of the original Predacon variants from the Well of All Sparks. In theory, the dual processors will yield more intelligent specimens. Easier to train, more adept at hunting. From the connecting sensor nets and the link between the two processors, it is equally likely that the resulting beast will be of one highly efficient mind as it is likely to be of two. I will not know until the final product is fully formed and deployed, but the study of it's interconnected nature could yield breakthroughs in both improving the cortical psychic patch, and..."
The sudden halt of his infodumping has you tilting your head in confusion. His antennae are flipped down. Something's bugging him.
"...I apologize, I let my excitement overtake me. Illogical on my part."
"Don't stop."
He perks up again, and turns to look straight at you.
"You wish to know of the practical applications of advanced sensor bioengineering? I was unaware you had any use for such information, I can direct you to some of the more useful research-"
"Shocker, I just like hearing you talk about the things you're fascinated with."
Shockwave goes silent. He shifts, a bit, optic fixed on you in a dumbfounded stare.
"Ah..."
He pauses again.
"...I am... Unused to my research being valued outside of its results. Most do not care to hear the intricacies." He looks to the floor, uncharacteristically sheepish. You take the opportunity to ease his concerns.
"I don't need results, I just like hearing you excited and in the zone. I mean... I like you, so why wouldn't I like hearing about what's important to you?" You explain.
"...thank you. I... I find you endearing as well. With that established, shall I continue?" He asks, and you don't miss the tiny hint of hopefulness in his voice."
"I'd like that."

JD’s personal belongings in the AU.
A lovingly documented binder of Dinosaurs Attack! cards arranged in order of the story. Still missing a few key moments of the story he is determined to finish.
Some personal items of his mother, Jocelyn, he keeps in a tiny box hidden from his father, who threw everything out when she died. Mostly movie ticket stubs from movies JD and Jocelyn saw when he was little, some jewelry, and a t-shirt of her favorite band. His most cherished yet cursed belonging is the key lock he wears, the only thing he found in the rubble of the building his mom suicided in. JD had a fight with his mom the day before over his dad, and JD blames himself for pushing Jocelyn to suicide. (It wasn’t his fault, as Jocelyn had already planned to do this anyway, and emotions were raw then.)
A sizable stack of 7-11 cups he collected from Las Vegas to Boston, each having a different style logo and promotion to show how long he’s been suffering.
A lava lamp.
A 70’s transistor radio he keeps by his bed.
A harmonica he usually keeps in his pocket and plays when he’s sad… which is often.
A pocket knife. Usually used for mundane purposes, though during a particularly bad mental health day, he considered suicide and attempted to cut himself, but instead just threw the blade at the wall of his room in frustration. The blade hung there for days until he finally took it down.
His gun. Originally he bought it for self defense due to Bud moving them into particularly dangerous crime ridden areas. It saw the most use in Hawkins and later Sherwood. He sleeps with it, keeping it under his pillow due to Hawkins PTSD and mild paranoia.
An old toy pop gun from an old Cowboy Halloween costume he had when he was five, from a memorable Halloween where he got a massive haul of candy.
Some assorted posters from his favorite bands and movies, like Big Fun, the Pixies, Westworld and Godzilla, though they’re beat up and torn from how often he’s had to take them down and hang them back up.
A small stack of classic literature and pulp science fiction, most of the former technically stolen from libraries of moves past. Moby Dick, Huckleberry Finn and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde are the most well read and worn, with him currently working through the original Jaws novel.
A small Transformers collection that was spurned on by Dan when they originally met. Besides Fangry, his collection is incomplete Special Teams mostly. Dinobots Slag (his favorite dinosaur happens to be the triceratops) and Snarl, Terrorcons Rippersnapper, Cutthroat and Sinnertwin (partly for their edgy names), Pretender Rattletrap, Cassettes Overkill and Slugfest, and 2/3 of the Triggerbots and Triggercons. (He’s missing Backstreet and Crankcase, and the flip out guns amuse him.) His holy grail are the Japanese exclusive Autobot Dinosaur Cassettes. When JD gets stressed or anxious, he’ll start fidgeting with whatever Transformer is in reach, transforming it over and over.
JD’s clothes are similar to what’s seen in the original movie, though he also has some 7-11 t-shirts, with a Pac-Man one he wears the most. He also has a fascination with McDonald’s Mac Tonight, and has some t-shirts related to him he wears around the house.
When JD moves in with the Bravermans at the end of the Westerberg adventure, most of his stuff was confiscated by authorities investigating fraud from his dad’s company when Bud died in a construction accident, leaving him with only a few clothes, books and figures he could comfortably carry in a duffel bag.

Aside from titans who would be the tallest sparkling, and teen (respectively), currently in your care?
Okay so that question cuts out a lot of the first generation of kids since they’re all in their 20s now but! For the second generation of kids I would have to say it’s a tie between Motormaster or the Terrorcon kids (Hun-gurr, Rippersnapper, Sinnertwin, Cutthroat and Cindersaur)
However that might change when Helex and Tesarus hit their growth spurts.

Now we leave Chikyu and return back to Earth with the Revice cast. All of the assigned Cybertronians are mostly based on their personal Vistamp.
The Revice Cast assigned Cybertronians:
Ikki and Vice: Formerly BW Megatron, now Gigatron due to Megatron's attack is the skillful and tactical T-rex leader of the Predacons in the future, but due to becoming good, he is willing to risk his own life to save his own friends. He's also good with kids and has a rubber ducky named Quackles that he considers his best friend and can transform.
Daiji and Kagerou: Nightscream the troubled but good bat.
Sakura: Colada the arrogant and loner cobra.
Lovekov: The destructive and mindless Abominus, comprised of Hun-Gurrr the brilliant yet gluttonous quadrupedal two-headed dragon, Rippersnapper the superiority obsessed bipedal shark creature, Blot the appallingly disgusting and friendly but dumb hunchbacked monster-thing with an inferiority complex, Sinnertwin the predatory robotic two-headed dragon-ish thing, Cutthroat the overly-violent hawk monster thing, and Cindersaur the not-very-smart bipedal horn-nosed lizard monster thing, who all treat Lovekov like a queen.
Hiromi: Blackarachnia the smart, sly, and dangerous black widow spider and girlfriend to Fuzor Silverbolt.
George: Tarantulas the scheming mad scientist Lycosa tarantula.
Hana: BW Scavenger the master blackmailer and strategist ant who uses fear.
The others (Go, Genta/Papa Igarashi and Orteca): BW Insecticon the creepy and spying stag beetle, Hardshell the hyperactive and extremely chatty rhinoceros beetle who helps Papa and Mama Igarashi with work, and Ikard the much kinder cousin and only friend of Scuba.
Ikki, Vice and Gigatron are taking care of the youngest Igarashi, Koushirou, while the others are away doing something. Ikki and Vice have left to cook lunch and left Gigatron to take care Koushirou.
Gigatron: What's your name little fella?
Koushirou: Koushiwou.
Gigatron: Koushirou is it? I'd like you to meet my best friend, Quackles. Say hi Quackles.
Quackles: *Quack* Hello.
Gigatron and Koushirou have some bonding time like Gigatron carrying Koushirou and playing hide and seek and Koushirou sees Gigatron as a cool uncle.
Gigatron: Koushiro, can you say Gigatron?
Koushirou: Giga-Gigatwon.
Gigatron: Yesss Koushiro, that's right.
Tumblr media
Unbeknownst to both of them, Ikki, with tears of joy and a smile, had been filming the bonding between his youngest brother and his big T-Rex friend, and sends to the Riders and the others.
Tumblr media
What are the Riders and Revice Cast to seeing the video Ikki sent of Koushirou and Gigatron bonding?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one can resist the power of Baby Koushirou

TF136: Combiners Pt. 2
Artificial Combiners: Following the loss of the Enigma, an arms race began to create artificial Combiners to supplement Devastator and Computron. The Decepticons held the upper-hand in this matter, with Shockwave’s reverse engineered Combination Core forming the nucleus of Project Black Mamba. But the Autobots would launch their own projects, including systems based off of Devisiun biology & MTO’s made for the purpose. But their true watershed would come with data stolen by a turncoat named Ambulon.
Bruticus (Inactive): The first (successful) result of Black Mamba, Bruticus was comprised of a unit of consummate soldiers, hoping the resulting Combiner would turn out to be the perfect soldier. What they got instead was a lumbering hulk of a ‘Con with more guns than his severely handicapped intelligence could count, little more than a weapon to be aimed. Nevertheless, Bruticus quickly became a threat to rival even Devastator, and the capture and/or elimination of his component ‘cons soon become top priority. A lucky break would result in the capture of Hardtop and the subsequent neutralization of Bruticus as a threat, but there are murmurs of enlisting Hardtop’s Spark brother Swindle as a replacement...
Members: Onslaught, Vortex, Blast Off, Brawl, Hardtop-Swindle
Abominus: Following the success of Bruticus, Shockwave’s attention would turn to the Terrorcons, several beastformers who had joined the Decepticon cause. Just as vicious as Bruticus, but just as unintelligent, Abominus would face off against Computron several times, with the Combiner eventually meeting its end with the death of several of its components.
Members: Hun-Gurr, Rippersnapper, Sinnertwin, Blot, Cutthroat.
Predaking: The combination of two of Shockwave’s experiments, with the component “Predacons” also being the result of reformatting beastformers with Predacon CNA. Though his components would be perfectly competent and loyal warriors, Predaking would prove too “individualistic”, a hunter who would disregard orders in favour of pursuing his own agenda.
Members: Razorclaw, Divebomb, Rampage, Headstrong, Tantrum
Monstructor (Deactivated): An ancient, deactivated Combiner dating back to the Age of Primes, Monstructor would only see one battle during the Great War, a corpse reanimated by the earliest experiments with Dark Energon and promptly embarking on a mindless rampage that required both Autobots and Decepticons to bring it down. The corpse would be captured by the Autobots, and used to further Nexus’ experiments.
Sixturbo (Deactivated): Originally the subject of the Autobots’ Devisiun Combiner project, Sixturbo would achieve a rare unity that would unfortunately result in their defection to the Autobots and shuttering of the Devisiun projects. Unfortunately for them, there defection would not spare them from death in battle.
Menasor: Victorion’s creation came as a severe blow to Decepticon morale, their superiority in the field of Combiners shattered once and for all. In order to counteract this, Shockwave turned to the Stunticons, Velocitronian road bandits with mild delusions of grandeur. These delusions would carry over to the resulting gestalt, a boastful warrior who, while nonetheless formidable, didn’t provide the counterbalance the Decepticons sorely needed.
Members: Motormaster(Torso), Deadend (LArm), Wildrider (LLeg), Drag Strip (RArm), Slashmark (RLeg)-Offroad, Heatseeker, Wildbreak, Breakneck, Breakdown (Formerly)
Megaempress: Still hoping for a counterpart to Victorion, Shockwave would turn to Galvatronia, a decorated and brutal ex-gladiator, alongside her all-femme “Elite Guard”. The resulting Combiner kept her components’ prowress, charisma, and sinister nature, more like an extension of Galvatronia than a true fusion
Members: Galvatronia, Trickdiamond, Flowspade, Lunaclub, Moonheart- Skyjack, Riotgear, Treadshock, Cyberwarp
Liokaiser: Commissioned behind Megatron’s back by Deathsaurus, Liokaiser was comprised of the warlord’s finest non-Predacon warriors. Although somewhat scatterbrained, Liokaiser would serve his leader with distinction until the death of his component Leozack would render him inert. The addition of Leozack’s spark-sister Lyzack would see the Combiner returned to the field.
Members: Leozack (KIA), Drillhorn, Guyhawk, Hellbat, Jallguar, Killbison, Lyzack.
Autobot Combiners
Defensor: Seeking to balance the scales of the war, “Project Nexus” the Autobots’ answer to Black Mamba, would look to Groove, an auxiliary member of Computron, using him and the reverse engineered corpses of Abominus and Monstructor as the basis for a new Combiner. The resulting gestalt would be comprised of Groove’s new unit, a search and rescue outfit known as the Protectobots. Though their individual units were either less than willing or less then capable in combat, Defensor themselves has proven an incredible defender and stalwart champion of the Autobot cause.
Members: Hot Spot(Torso), Rook, Blades, Streetwise, First Aid, Groove- Medix.
Superion: The second successful Autobot Combiner, helped along by Ambulon’s defection and reverse engineering Monstructor’s corpse. Her components are an oddly fractious bunch for a successful Combiner,  carrying both Neutral and Decepticon sympathies, but the gestalt herself is a dedicated and even somewhat cocky warrior, if socially aloof.
Members: Silverbolt, Slingshot, Air Raid, Fireflight, Skydive-Alpha Bravo, Airazor.
Divisiun Combiners: Most of the Autobots’ early successes with Combiners came through exploiting Devisiuns’ natural combination abilities. But in a surprising turn of events, these Devisiun Combiners proved less powerful than their Cybertronian counterparts, unable to equal Bruticus or Predaking, but they found their place nonetheless.
Subjects: Sixtrain (Deactivated, KIA), Sixliner, Sixbuilder, Sixwing (Deactivated), Sixturbo (Defected, KIA)
Landcross: The ultimate culmination of the “Six-Series” Landcross is capable of standing toe-to-toe with their Decepticon counterparts, even with their startling penchant for aggression.
Members: Wing, Waver, Dash, Tacker, Mach, Tackle
Computron V2: Following the recovery of the Enigma of Combination, Computron would find a new lease on life, with several of their former auxiliary bots forming the new gestalt.
Membership: Scattershot, Strafe, Javelin, Flareup, Backstreet, Drillbuster.
