i mean… I THINK the masterpost is the easiest way to read it for now (and once you read one chapter you press “NEXT” at the end of it.)

if I would put it, let’s say, on Webtoon (which I can’t) it kind of would be the same thing. A list if chapters, when you click on one it opens the chapter with the 10-20 panels and then you click the “next” to go to the next one.

i don’t think putting all chapters from one part would be nice since it would be a super duper long list of panels (and the page would take a lot to load with so many medias) and one Part of the comic contains multiple arcs.

i’m open to suggestions though!

no, his human form doesn’t have fangs, because his human form is just a kind of glamour/shapeshift. In the AU the monkey form became his normal form (since it always has been his original form to begin with)

And now in this part Mac appears butt-naked to help Wukong out, adding yet another layer of vulnerability...gah! (Maybe I should finally watch LMK because I feel I would be doubly obsessed with this comic then...)

For Mac being exposed was the last of his issues considering that what he was seeing was Wukong at his lowest and most naked. Now excuse me while I cry.

In the second version Chang’E and her husband(I forgot his name), are getting used to living as mortals after being kicked out of heaven. But someone hears of the immortal elixir they have and try to steel it while Chang’E’s husband is out hunting. After getting beat up a bit she decides to drink the elixir so the robber couldn’t get it. But she instead went to the moon so she could be closer to her lover. Her husband dies because he’s still mortal, and Chang’E is left be herself. I have silly little headcanon the day MK and the others went to the moon was her and her husband’s anniversary 🙃 Bye <3

His favorite days are when classes of children come in for field trips. Wukong often paints the backdrops, scenery, and other items for plays. They both enjoy their hobbies.

I know that the "Qi" is pronunced "Chi" and I think "xiao" is pronunced the same as you would read it, while I THINK the "t" in "tian" is more of a mix between a t and a c/k? I aint chinese and the way I pronounce things or read them is probably different from u cause I'm italian.

Well look at you!!! Are you dressed as Wirt from Over the Garden Wall!!??? I really love that show, although I really don’t watch it as often as I should. I first watched it like any old kid does, pirated through YouTube with the actual episode in the corner as a tiny square and the rest of the screen filled with other nonsense! Boy, you really haven’t lived if you haven’t done that at least once in your life. Once watched someone’s upload of the entire Toy Story 4 movie like that — can you believe it? Someone posting the entire Toy Story 4 movie on YouTube! The best part is, it stayed on there for like four weeks! What a fun time.. now, fortunately nowadays with me being on the interwebs more often I know some peeps have posted the whole OtGW series on Google docs which they’ve then shared around, which is pretty nifty indeed! Really appreciate folks doing stuff like that, because otherwise digital media can just vanish into the air with the way streaming is nowadays. Rotten stuff.

Oh, anyway, Over the Garden Wall! Yes, I remember when I first started watching that show. I remember watching the very opening, thinking, “Scenes of the past? No, scenes of fantasy? No… perhaps passing memories, fleeting dreams and thoughts?” I like to think I was pretty right, personally! I like that we’re shown… well, I won’t say much, but with such a simple opening everything happens in plain sight. Even moreso when you look at the Easter eggs, like the intro of each episode!!! Gosh, I felt amazed when I learned all the things it hides!!! I used to gobble down theory videos one after the other about the show! A good show really has you thinking and looking at things with a keen eye and ear, doesn’t it? Over the Garden Wall is such eye candy too, it’s funny how a show can have a simple style like that and yet so detailed too, I’m sure the art style took a while to brew and develop.

My very favourite character was Wirt, no doubt you can guess, when I watched OtGW I was but an insecure teenager myself and as an oldest sibling who plays clarinet, well, it was like a match made in the Unknown! Now that I’m more grown Wirt comes across more silly to me now, ha. Funny how that is you know? When you grow up, you can see the same story at different points in your life, but relate to different characters. That happened to me once with this book about a primary school age girl in foster care. When I was a younger kid, I related a bunch to the main character and her frustrations and struggles, but when I later read the book again as a… teen maybe? I found myself relating more to the adults in her life. It was a strange kind of thing to experience. It helps me remember that to children, things that may seem small to adults, can be really major and big! Children’s concerns should be taken into account all the same, they shouldn’t be simply brushed off as nonsense. Teenagers’ too!

Actually, hey! Speaking of Over the Garden Wall, this I hope you’ll like, I put a little reference to it in my most recent tumblr fake dashboard post! I haven’t seen anyone point it out at all!?? It is none other than fishblr user burgle-the-turts! Their icon no doubt confirms it: a teapot, similar to the kettle Greg wears — I mean, sorry, his elephant costume. The “burgle the turts” line lives in my brain, what can I say. I dropped many other fun references to media in the post, for example, fishblr user greenXD is a reference to that funny thing Master Wu says in the Lego Ninjago movie. THAT’S RIGHT I WATCHED NINJAGO but I haven’t sadly seen the movie and I kind of fell of the show when Zane was kidnapped..?? I did watch the snake stuff, and the whole season where…..

This one's definitely got me smiling and kicking my legs bc something about the idea of these guys being happy and doing normal human things makes me happy.

Demo knits! He also sews and crochets. This man is just a little grandma (affectionate). His mom taught him, and he just always liked it. It's calming, has definitely given the other Mercs blankets, and just claimed, "Oh well, I found it somewhere." Like it isn't in their well-known favorite color or subtly customized to them. I think he'd also be into most art. Painting and wood carving are two I think he'd fine interesting.

Engie- This man loves Legos. He has at least ten finished sets and about six unfinished ones lying around. He buys the adult sets for himself but has bought Pyro smaller sets so they can build together. Also isn't opposed to going fishing.

Heavy- Did you know he likes rock climbing? Turns out it's a lot easier to get into that hobby if you're strong. He's also a fan of hiking and swimming. Also very good at chess, he and Madic play a lot.

Medic- He loves music! He's good at it too, (I've seen others hc that he plays violin and please I love that, I love violin.) Along with the violin he kills on piano. It's actually really nice to hear piano coming from the lab and not screaming. Who knew? THIS. MAN. LOVES. TO. DANCE. He knows how to and loves to teach people. He specifically likes ballroom dancing, he can waltz, he can swing, if you can think of a dance he probably learned how to do it at some point.

Scout- Sports are probably the most obvious hobby I could pick for Scout, with video games coming in second. But I am a man who deviates from the obvious. He likes to bake and cook! Like I've seen people say this man can't boil water, and that's an insane take to me. Sure, it's funny, but this man loves his mom. Do you think he didn't bake and cook with her to help her out? He has a box of recipes that have been in the family for years. This man is killer when it comes to food, and I will die on this hill. (When he's baking, though, Pyro comes out of nowhere to "help." If any fellow bakers know how annoying it is to have a partner in the kitchen, you'll know how patient Scout has become, but he aurally doesn't mind Pyro baking with him after a while.) Don't ask him to do paintball with you! He loves it a bit too much.

Sniper- My man loves plants. He loves to garden. He has a little windowsill planter in his van. He grows little fruit plants sometimes and has a few cacti scattered around. He also has a bonsai tree, which he is meticulous with. You'd think this man would take up these hobbies to relax, but no. He is also insanely good at poker.

Spy- Really in to calligraphy, origami, and wine tasting. (Also, not really a hobby, but I hc that he can bartend if need be). He's just really into the "fancier." Hobbies that can also show off his art skills, also he likes wine so yk.

Soldier- Like Sniper, he's a really good poker player. He's definitely more into it than the other guys. He hates losing. He also does the traditional suburban while dad hobbies. He watches football and likes to grill. He's just a silly little American man.

Pyro- For the most part, they don't have a singular hobby they really do by themself. Scout and Engie just tend to include them in theirs, so they've never really had to figure out what to do in their downtime. But that doesn't mean they didn't find one eventually. They get into collecting! Specifically, bugs! They have at least two orchid praying mantis and one normal green one in a shadow box. Plus, they have a small collection on honeybees and even some scorpions and spiders (I know they aren't bugs, but I feel like most bug collectors have them too.) Engie went into Pyros room once because Pyro wanted to show off their collection and nearly fainted when Pyro showed off their favorite spider, it was a camel spider. (Look them up if you want but good God, they're so gross 😭)

Hello there!!

I'm Starrzies, but I also go by Rodimus!! Of these two names I prefer my nicknames (Starrz/Roddy) more than the formality of my full username/chosen name!! I'm 19 and a full time college student! (I want to become a Forensic Pathologist!) My pronouns are He/They ONLY and my chosen gender identity is Demiboy! I'm also Aroace, my specific labels being Cupioromantic/sexual!

I'm just a silly little guy trying to do his best. I am a hobbyist artist and writer and I love to share what I come with in the hopes that other people will enjoy it as much as I do! I tend to post art related to my own characters, art I've done for other people and - more rarely - fandom related art! I also stream on Twitch!!! Usually it's art streams (especially for Art Fight!) or me playing my games - either solo or with other people! I own a 2001 Ford Mustang!! It's a convertible too! I ADORE my car so much and there is so much I have planned for it!!

I own 4 dogtags! They are NOT military related at all though! They just have special meaning to me and I've been wearing them since 2018! I did actually let someone borrow one of them for a decent amount of time but it was returned to me! I don't think I'm ever going to let them go again, they mean too much to me.

Ravage is named after the TF character! :D He was my little gaming buddy back when I was fostering a litter of kittens for my senior project. I ended up keeping him, I got too attached. Now he is best friends with Ember!

Hiraeth was a TOTAL accident. I was supposed to just have her mom but she was pregnant much to our surprise! (Someone was getting rid of her, probably because they knew she was pregnant, and gave her to us without telling us that lol) I was allowed to keep Hiraeth but none of the other cats were allowed :( They all went to loving homes though!

Discord is my main, preferred way of communication!! I always have it open on my second monitor so I tend to respond really quickly on there :) You should totally add me on there! I'm under the same username ;)

I do appreciate that the Barbie movie appears to be mostly aimed at teenagers + adults though.

Obviously a lot of kids will see it, that's who Barbie as a brand is aimed at, but the PG-13 rating is nice in that it will appeal to the generation that primarily played with barbies. I'm sure plenty still do, but it's not quite the cult following it used to have as most of those people are now late teens/adult age. They could have just made a live action Barbie dream house rated E for everyone movie and chose not to.

As an adult, I'm stoked to see it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know it's just to make money and sell toys, propaganda, etc but it really is getting me hyped to see a hyper femme silly little movie a la Legally Blonde again.

Barbie has been a popular toy since 1959- the majority of people by definition who grew up playing with Barbies are well out of late teen/early adult age. Appealing to the older demographic while still having available movies for the younger demographic is really nothing new to capitalism- the MCU exists but so does the Avengers cartoon.

My point is not "Barbie movie capitalism bad", it's "those who are saying that are missing the point that most of these recent movie releases yes even the ones you like are doing literally exactly the same thing". There's roughly a million Lego movies, you think those aren't to sell toys????

The concept of a "second adolescence" in terms of the queer experience isn't "I just want an excuse to run around and pretend I'm a child" AT ALL. It's based in the fact that people do a lot of maturing and learning how to be their own person and socialize and such when they are in their teens and how queer people are DENIED those CRUCIAL lessons because we are often ostracized from our communities. You can't learn how to date and make friends or get a first job or foster a sense of individuality or how to love who you are if you are constantly afraid that people finding out you're queer is going to get you killed OR if you are out and no one wants anything to do with you because of it.

And that's not even getting into the same subject re: victims of trauma. My teenage years were NOT normal and I was in survival mode like...fucking all the time, and it means I didn't learn a lot of the shit I was supposed to, or I learned it wrong, and so I've had to spend my 20s playing catch up. (And also I kinda like buying myself childish things sometimes bcs I've had to act like an adult my ENTIRE LIFE and sometimes a stuffed animal or lego set or video game makes me feel a little better.)

The second adolescence isn't about being free of responsibility, it's about learning how to be a person now that you have the freedom to do so, and the author clearly doesn't get that at all.

Hmmm to be completly honest im not sure which is the version i enjoy the most, like most wukongs to me are all different brands of a pretty cool guy so it's a bit hard to choose 🤔, so i think i'm just gonna answer for the Lego Wukong and the Jttw Wukong because those are the two i post about and think about the most:

Jttw Sun Wukong:

-How i feel about this character: He's a very complex character, and i like him a lot. Like, i'm bad at putting it exactly into words but even during moments of the story where he's doing wrong, he's still incredibly easy to sympathize with because you can kinda just see where he's coming from you know? He's a guy with a lot of layers that can't really be described as just a "Silly funny monkey" or "impulsive violent fiend" or anything of the sort, because the thing about trying to fit Swk into any kind of labels is that it's pretty much a fruitless task and i love that about him lol. I'm bad with words but yeah all that just makes him feel so real to me, and it's neat to see how different adaptations focus on certain aspects of his personality and each end up feeling a bit different from eachother as a result!

-All the people i ship romantically with this character: I love the Swk/Bull King/Princess Iron Fan dynamic and it's usually the ship i think about the most when it comes to him. And even though i usually see the pilgrims mostly in a platonic light, i also like Zhu Bajie/Swk cause they do have a hell of a fun dynamic. Guess Erlang can also fit in here.

-My non-romantic OTP for this character: Ao Lie. Because they kept calling him Little Dragon when he first appeared on the book i ended up with the image of him in my mind as a very young adult when compared to the other pilgrims. I can see him and Wukong having a very baby sibling and oldest sibling dynamic, and Wukong absolutly plays favorites when it comes to the pilgrims. The favorite is the horse

-My unpopular opnion about this character: Hmmm not really sure if i have one?

-One thing i wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Kinda wish there were more moments where Tang Sanzang was like, you know more decent to him? Just wish they had more nice moments with eachother, because like if Sanzang was a person that actually bonded with him and had his own nice moments as well maybe it would make me more invested on the moments Wukong has to protect him. You know, making it feel as the story goes on that he's starting to protect him less because it's his duty and more because that's a person he genuily has come to care about.

Lego Wukong:

-How i feel about this character: I feel like both canon and fanon lately has been way too harsh to him and i just want him to have nice things. I deal with that by mostly ignoring the majority of the fandom and just enjoying it with my friends 👍. He's a funny lego man who's going through way more horrors than he should be going through at every single second of his existence. Im holding him gently in my hands and giving him a break

-All the people i ship romantically with this character: I dont think he's a very romance focused guy but i like Swk/Tang/Chef Zhu, they're cute together and Xiaotian can get as many dads as he wants. I also see him and Princess Iron Fan + DBK as exes

-My non-romantic OTP for this character: Xiaojiao. I like thinking that post season 3, after he makes an genuine effort to connect more with Xiaotian's friends, the two of them can actually be really great friends. Just getting to know and spend some time with his great niece :] i can see her introducing him to all sorts of different sleepover games. I also think that even though she and Ao Lie have their differences she still reminds him a lot of him

-My unpopular opnion about this character: Everyone including canon is being too harsh on him, like just have this man have nice things for once. Everyone complains about how he "never tells anyone anything" but how do you expect him to tell anything when hes constantly whisked away by the plot?? Guy only had a single episode on S4 before being whisked away, guy only had 10 fucking minutes of screentime do you really think 10 minutes is enough to tell everyone about all his enemies and traumas??? My second unpopular opnion is Sh#dowp#ach is the bane of my existence.

-One thing i wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Let him actually be friends with the rest of the gang, let him have some screentime hanging out with them!! I think the show would have really benefited from going back to the monster of the week format from season 1 to that, like imagine just having some casual fun episodes but this time Wukong is shown on the noodle shop too!! Guy doesn't even need to be a main focus of the episode even just simple stuff like getting shown some baby monkey videos by Xiaojiao, or talking with Tang about how different parts of the journey actually were like, just you know stuff that makes him feel like part of the gang :].

(Another thing that i fucking wish is my self-fufilling au about Ao Lie actually being still alive all this time but had gotten himself stuck in the scroll, and now that he's out and both of them know the other is not fucking dead now, they can just reunite and be friends again. Does my au have a lot of plot holes? Yes it does, but just let the monkey have this one single win. He deserves to have one of his friends still alive fgdkbdnsbd)

today was chill.

i slept in through most of breakfast, which was fine. but i woke up a few times during the morning to pee, at which times i heard people talking in the living room, which was right outside the master bedroom where we were sleeping.

i eventually got up and showered and dressed and it was nice. we distributed gifts and everyone was pretty grateful for the ikea bags - they're really useful. being an adult is getting excited over ikea bags and rice cookers.

but i was given a rainbow narwhal wooble kit, a good knife, a $25 amazon gift card, and a lego set of plum blossoms! they were good gifts and i'm grateful for my friends. and im glad i can say that they're my friends too. they're sweet and fun and silly and i love them.

we played a game downstairs after that, and i brought a wooble kit with me to work on, but the game was much more mentally involved and i was pretty invested in it. it's called murder in hong kong, i think? it's kind of like werewolf and clue mixed together with a bunch of storytelling. it's fun and technically i was on the winning team.

we were gonna do a second round but i needed to make the cheesecake, so i went and did that instead.

i discovered that i had been left seven eggs.

i needed nine.

and since i was one of the only two still-sober people and the only one not involved in a group activity, i took joel's wallet and the key to the van and went to get more eggs.

i went to a gas station down the road and picked some up, along with another pint of ben and jerry's. the lady who helped me at the register told me she liked my boots and asked me where i got them. i told her i've had them for so long that i don't remember where i got them, but they're comfortable and warm and don't let water in. she was nice.

back at the house, i made the crust, baked the bottom, and prepared the sides. i put it together, wrapped the pan in foil, and put it in the water bath that it needs to sit in before i made the filling.

i made the filling and it was PERFECT and i went to grab the crust to fill and it was WRECKED.

the foil wrapping job i did was NOT waterproof.

so i put the filling in the fridge, cleaned the pan, and went back to work to make a new crust.

i did so successfully, and thankfully, because i had very little left for ingredients, especially the butter. but i was successful, and i set the crusts in the fridge/freezer while i waited for the oven to get back up to temp.

i put it together and i wrapped the pan in MORE layers of foil and put that in the bath and popped it in the oven.

it came out a few hours later looking very much like a cheesecake. it went into the fridge.

dinner was mac and cheese, so jason and i had chicken nuggets instead. there were six of us who sat down to play d&d-themed trivial pursuit which now that i think about it is a funny name for a game. but it was fun and i did terribly lmao

we ended up not finishing the game bc it had taken three hours and we still weren't done lmao

i applied for a few jobs while just chillin there before my laptop died, and i ended up heading to bed before we could crack into the cheesecake.

(i also ate my pint of ice cream after applying for jobs. it was nice.)

which, by the way, did NOT crack. OR burn. it was just too warm when i put my finger on it.

but it's beautiful.

i've been talking to leo for much of the afternoon. he's very horny but he's also been sweet today. he's always sweet though.

School Sports Day!

It was the 2023 school sport’s day last Sunday. We woke up at 5, started getting ready and everything. Joe was driving us to the stadium slowly. He loved the quiet empty road, how it was still dark outside. Everything was normal to me. I drive every day so I would say Joe needed to drive a little bit faster than that.

I didn’t say that.

We reached the school to pick up someone cool. He needed a ride to the stadium. I would totally tell you who it was, but Taylor Swift taught me to never name names on a paper trail. If you know, you know. He’s in the car, I was pretending to be chill.  Joe was going like he’s a rally driver now. We almost took a wrong turn. We laughed it off trying to play it cool in front of the boy, but really it would cost us half an hour when we only had five minutes to spare, and the day would’ve been ruined.

“Would you be OK coming with us all the way to Kuantan?” I asked him that after realizing we’d almost committed a crime.

“A married couple serves jail time for kidnapping a thirteen-year-old boy,” the headline would say. We joked about it. We would pretend our phones were dead and we needed his phone to call his parents, but instead we toss it out the window. “No,” he nervously said, and I laughed almost too hard at that. Of course, wouldn’t it be nice to be out with two boring adults who always stay home, in a comfortable chair and watch television all day?

We got there on time. People were still filling up the stadium getting ready for some sports. “I felt like a clown,” I told the almost abductee and he asked, “Why?”  Not a good question because I was wearing a silly skirt and a flower shirt, with a big hat that I refused to put on my head, at a sports event. Which would be a nice look at a beach holiday but isn’t it a bit silly to wear it at the stadium where people would only want to watch gruesome sports and not a fashion show?

Although, it was just a costume for the event, so it would be best if I stop being a wimp and get on with it after Joe had told me I didn’t, during the ten times I had asked, if I looked like I had big toes on my feet. Once I started working on the kids’ costume, I no longer felt like having a red nose and a yellow wig on a big head in a circus. Instead, I felt like an athlete trying to win everything where I race, I jump, I fight but they’re all happening at the same time, and I never know where to put my foot because the track is made of legos, so I trip, and I fall. Then, I get back up. Getting busy and busier, and I forgot where I was.

I remember some faces in the morning. The Mighty Green Team. The team was made of 35 tiny brave souls who got it right away after I yelled at them. The mascot was a cute crocodile holding bunch of flowers. The kid underneath never fails to make me laugh. The princess walked elegantly. She’s walking along the team, right left right left all along. The flag-bearer did his job fluidly, he was smooth. The banner-bearers are two tall boys. One is a runner with a great stamina. They’re as tall as the banner, it blocked everyone’s faces at the back, lol, but they kept the banner straight. The rest of them are the bravest tiny souls. That mighty team, being as tiny and so unathletic as they are, gave the best effort in my eyes. They’re mighty hardworking. They gave their mighty best. They’re not lazy but they’re still behind a mighty slow line. We had the best walk after all. We don’t mind medals. We want ice cream, and we’ll go get it. For some reason, it’s never enough for people who win medals for they always feel the need to be mean and gloat about it.

Right after our mighty green team gracefully walked the runway, I ran to the washroom, got out of the costume, and changed back to being myself. Some familiar faces. I remember hugging a few girls I treasure. There’s this boy who told his 12-year-old sister whom I teach now that he missed me. We don’t talk at all on the phone, I don’t think he’s got one. I called him from far, he saw me, we waved and smiled and that’s it. It was really lovely. I wish him all the best.

I saw a group of boys who were the front flag-bearers. They were looking serious more than I’m used to. They should be serious more often so life for me would be a bit easier. The leader is a natural. He alongside his friends carried the assembly exceptionally well and a teacher couldn’t have been more proud.

I saw two girls with glasses, which I bought birthday gifts for. “I stink,” I reminded them before they went in for a hug. “I don’t care,” one of them said. Two other girls were wearing white t-shirts, helping us out that morning, looking grown up. This girl saw Joe but was too shy to say hi. Joe had told me he saw her too, but they were just looking at each other, oh don’t I love the awkwardness.  This other girl told me he looked smart. “Really, even the beard?” I was making sure. Later, I ran into two boys somewhere when I was pathetically running around looking for some lost papers. One of them is the best friend of the almost abducted boy, who got away dissing Joe how Malaysia won 10 – 0 against PNG in football. “If you beat us in rugby, I would’ve been surprised,” was what he would’ve heard from Joe if he wasn’t such a chicken that ran away.

I recognised a lot of runners when I was working. I remember wishing them good luck and cheering them on. One of my green boys, was running 400m in a 4x200m race because for some reason he didn’t pass the baton. He threw up at the finish line looking so deflated, looked up, smiled, and walked away. That was a proud moment. I remember jumping and cheering an athlete from green team who was the front-runner and won the first place, unfazed. A boy from my team ran so fast as Flash and he surprised me. A girl in my team also ran pretty fast ahead of every one else. She was upset when her team didn’t make it in the relay race. I’m pretty sure many others that I know at school ran that morning, but I didn’t see them.

It was so bright at the stadium. It started to rain at one point, but it was short. Joe was working on his laptop at some café. I kept looking for him among the crowds, see if he was there and I got happy when he was. We walked away to sit under a tree and that’s when he told me about everyone he had seen and both of us were revising their names. We’d talk about how different everyone had looked, talked about the race that caught our eyes. Then, I walked back to the place where the athletes set up camp and checked on everyone. I remember hearing the announcements, as I was walking. Best Princess, Blue team. Best Mascot, Blue Team. Best Walk, Blue team. I laughed a little, I wasn’t at all surprised. I knew we won the Best Walk, but it is what it is, I guess. I walked there, everyone was still keeping a happy face after defeat, which made me so proud. So, I said, “See, we did it! We aimed for number 4, didn’t we? That was the goal, remember? If it wasn’t us, then who else?” and everybody laughed. Finally, they announced the Best Team, and as some had guessed it, Blue won the title this year. Red won second, Yellow went down to third and it’s always been the last for us. I congratulated them because they deserved the win, not the Best Walk though, but the Best Team.

I almost regretted my decision to be nice to them because this girl who’s in the Blue Team came to me and asked, “Teacher, are you sad? Are you OK?” I was really confused because I was laughing with the other kids, I wasn’t sad at all, then I realized that she actually was making fun of my team losing to their team. Very cheeky. She’s just like her brother, a cheeky braggart. She ran away too when I was just about to catch her and put her in her place.

Anyways, the day ended there, I helped move some stuffs away, and we drove off to this café in the campus and had a delicious meal for lunch, and it was cheap. The whole drive home was me memorizing what had happened so I can write about it, but I went back home and crashed, instead.  

P/s: there was a part in this story which I called “little milkshake” that I feel I needed to take out because some of you couldn’t stop laughing when I read this to you, purple grimace shake?So no, no shake for you.

Yeah sure!

Ninjago is a lego show that aired way back in January 2011 (I was 9!) about these lil dudes that get recruited to become ninja. Its writing is obviously a little juvenile as it is aimed for younger audiences, but despite that it has a fairly big following? I grew up watching the show and I ended up rewatching/catching up in january of this year, and i did not expect to become obsessed 😭

I personally think the characters and dynamics are enjoyable, and the show makes me laugh. But also, while not having the most insane complicated plots, it just feels fun, and the stories are reminiscent of what a kid playing with their lego toys would make and enjoy. Plots change, lore gets retcon, there’s a general feeling of “okay but is it cool??” that rules over the story if that makes sense. Like as a kid, I was obsessed with this show and I can see why.

But as an adult, I think a big thing for me is again the character dynamics though. They’re always great in every season and I love watching them do silly little things in the episodes, like Zane trying to catch museum items as Jay carelessly throws things around , or Kai showing off his action figure of himself to Cole and Zane in the background , or the cute banter😭🙏 it just adds something special. i literally cant pick a fave bc they are allll soooo good. they all feel like tangible friendships to me idk. (altho im very biased towards the relationship between kai, nya, and lloyd. im a sucker for sibligism)

And this mostly happened from joining the fandom on social media but i like Rotating them in my mind, putting them in scenarios and taking what the show offers and coming up with something new whether it be a Worldbuilding headcanons or fancomic or just a random blurb of text analyzing a scene, which i think is half the fun in a fandom lol. Honestly the show even does this itself bc it plays around with its own worldbuilding like playdough and adds some new lore esch season but i kinda like it 😭 kind of a neat contrast to other shows where all the lore and worldbuilding has been mostly figured out from the start, where here you’re watching it happen in real time

So yeah i could probably say more but i think that gets the point 🧐 i unironically like this show a lot🤒

zane and nya for character opinion bingo

ZANE

Oh god blorbo supreme. The original blorbo. This nindroid can fit so much trauma in him. I could rant about him for a million years. Im like this close to giving into temptation and making a 20-minute compilation of all my favorite Zane moments (listen, the party pooper scene lives in my head rent-free at all times). Oh god he needs so much therapy, and no, locking your trauma in a digital puzzle box does not count as therapy.

Some people characterize him as some emotionless and boring lawful good. Some people characterize him as an uwu wholesome softboi. But in my opinion, the most correct interpretation is Dorky Suburban Dad.

Think about it. He wore a button-up and khakis to the beach. He dresses up in a full scuba skin-suit whenever they have a party in their own damn hot tub. He once wore a sweater vest with snowflakes on it. On their lil desert road trip he entertained himself by reading about regional trivia, and delighted in sharing this trivia with his friends. He loves playing board games, especially chess. He likes to make ice puns. He loves cooking. He's the closest thing they have to a responsible adult. When he became the team leader in season 5 he kept everyone pumped with all those silly little sayings like "one team one dream!" He apparently loves detective fiction. He thinks that walking like a pirate with a peg-leg will get people to respect him. He loves astronomy and, according to Lloyd, "knows the solar system better than anyone". Whenever someone is upset he's always there providing a comforting smile and a pat on the shoulder. He spent 5 minutes debating the morality of making an ice ramp for a slug. He doesn't understand pop culture. Zane is a dorky suburban dad and you can't change my mind.

He's also a fashion icon. For example, when he died, the ninja all became a total fashion disaster in his absence. We all saw it. None of them matched. Like did you see Kai's horrendous lil fight club costume? Jay's atrocious tv host suit? And Cole just straight up wasn't even wearing a shirt anymore. And even when they came back together, their ninja suits still didn't match! And sure, it was meant to symbolize how disjointed they'd become in the wake of his loss, but STILL. The fact that their CLOTHES of all things were out of wack indicates to me that he's the only one on the team with any fashion sense.

And let's not forget the moment from Seabound where he decided to wear the breathing mask despite not needing oxygen because "I like how it completes my attire". And his Snake Jaguar costume!!! And his titty-out look in The Island! And not to mention how the Detective Zane outfit is a LOOK. He rocks the hell out of that trenchcoat.

This is all to say, Lego needs to release the forbidden bikini Zane content or I'm gonna break in and find it myself.

Ohoho, the fandom does Nya SOOO dirty. Especially since she's not as outwardly affectionate as Jay, so a lot of people interpret this as her being more callous and unloving towards him. She A) has a metric ton of childhood baggage, and B) expresses her affection in different ways! Jay might say 'I love you' with words more often, but she shows how much she cares through acts of service and quality time and whatnot.

Also. Hot take but Nya has some of the most compelling character arcs and subplots in this entire goddamn show. Teaming up with Dareth to spy on Chen? Overcoming her gifted child syndrome in season 5? The X Cave fight in season 7????? The show definitely blunders often in terms of the whole sexism/performative feminism thing, for sure. Looking at you, Skybound. But she also has a LOT of character arcs where her being the Girl^TM isn't even at all relevant. Season 5. Season 7. Season 9. Season 10. Season 11. Season 15.

Anyway Nya is amazing and she deserves better from the fandom, and I will die on this hill. Nya didn't singlehandedly destroy hell itself just to be reduced to some shallow Designated Love Interest.
