Clown Hunter joins in whenever Joker is involved & is welcomed with open arms.

WE ARE ROBIN 3.0

30 years into the batman's carrier the We Are Robin movement has decreased since its original formation six years ago, nonetheless, the youths of Gotham still come out to protect its nest.

This iteration of the team consists of three previous members who have stayed to mentor and give support to the five new recruits.

Shug-R mostly just does the hacking and planning but if needed she also acts as a field medic, since she joined the oracles her job became way easier.

Daxton Chill aka Alt is the mechanic/tech support for the team but unfortunately that makes him the least active member on the team during missions.

Isabella Ortiz aka redbird co-leaders with Shug-R, she is romantically involved with the leader of the Gotham Knights.

Nathan and Michael Hook have been both a pain in the ass and a blessing to Orpheus and Onyx for their incredible inventions, that intrigued Dax and he decided to give them a chance and, well, when four superheroes give you a thumbs up you can't say no.

Dexter Dent is the son of ex-supervillain Harvey Dent and [REDACTED], his father is VERY agonist of him being a vigilante even tho the hypocrite himself is one now, on an unrelated note the penguin seems quite fond of the lad.

Tiffany Fox has been surrounded by heroes all her life with you would think it meant she would have an easier time getting into the hero game but noooo it couldn't be so easy... Her Brother's solution was to put her with these kids as a compromise.

Aurora or as she likes to be called, hoopoe, hopes to one day become a great hero just like Bryne is.

Like any self-respecting superhero team they have their own headquarters called the nest, this one given to them as a first outing gift by Tim Drake who owned it first. Their range extends from the Hill all the way up to Robbinsville, when they patrol it's not unusual to team up with the night shift and the Gotham knights but they also find themselves paired with fennec fox of all people most of the time.

NOTE: for those who don't know who Nathan, Michael and Aurora are the first 2 appear in batman: black & white vol 2 #6 and DC power 2024 while Aurora is from batman: the brave and the bold 2023 #6-7-8, also the DCPU tag is to navigate my dc universe and We Are Robin 2.0-4.0 are placed in different points in the timeline so I don't wanna use them yet.

You sat with Sam and Robby a table away from Dimitri and Eli. The bar buzzed with music and chatter, but you were more focused on your water (you didn’t like drinking, same as Robby, and pop was off-limits during the season—you were strict about keeping your body in peak condition). Sam and Robby were deep in conversation about Tory and Miguel, their voices low but laced with tension.

“ I hope Carmen is okay.” Robby said idly, spinning his straw in his glass “ Did you talk to Miguel before they left?”

Sam shugs, “ for like thirty seconds. We were excited to go exploring but now…” 

You nudged your twin with an elbow. “ You feel any better?” 

He scoffed, his lips curling into a humorless smile. “ No, honestly I'm actually thinking of adding rum to this coke.”

Sam smiled a little thinking he was kidding. “ Yeah right you don't drink.” 

Robby’s gaze dropped to his drink, his fingers tightening around the glass. “ might be the time to start, I've been screwing everything up since Tory put us on break and it's not even affecting her.” 

“ Like salt on an open cut.” 

“ Yeah, she's fighting better than ever.” 

 Sam leaned forward letting her arms rest on the table. “ Tory chose the other side and I feel terrible for her but we can't keep letting her get in our heads like this. We just have to accept she's against us.” 

You huffed, rolling your eyes. “ You guys are acting like we're at war, she's not against us.” You said with a shake of your head. “ She picked a different team because she was vulnerable, and a master manipulator took advantage of that. It’s not that simple. You of all people know that, you were talking about it last night.” 

Sam stared over your shoulders without replying, her facing falling. “ I'm gonna get some air.” She said getting up. 

Both you and Robby turned confused  following her gaze to the door. That’s when you saw them—Tory, Kwon, and a few of their teammates walking in, looking every bit like they owned the place.

Kwon stared at you and gave you a little nod. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he made his way across the bar.

Your back straightened unconsciously, and you had to put your hands in your lap to stop yourself from messing with your hair. 

Kwon stopped beside you, his smirk growing wider. “ Hey,” he said smoothly, his eyes locking with yours. “ Dance with me?”

Before you could say anything, Robby’s chair scraped back as he stood abruptly, squaring his shoulders. “ She’s not interested.”

Kwon barely glanced at Robby, he only had eyes for you. “ I’m pretty sure she can speak for herself, man.”

“ Robby cool off, it's fine.” You said, trying to defuse the situation.

Robby frowned, his jaw tight, but he didn’t say anything else.

“What do you say?” Kwon asked, his voice low enough that it felt like the rest of the room disappeared.

You hesitated, glancing at Robby, who was still standing stiffly. Then you looked back at Kwon.

“ Okay,” you said, taking his hand.

Kwon’s smirk turned into a genuine smile as he led you to the small dance floor at the center of the bar. “ I didn’t think you’d say yes.”

“ Why?” You looked up at him.

“ You don’t like disappointing your team.” He huffed. 

“ One dance won’t kill them.”

“ Just one?” He teased, slipping an arm around your waist. “ I plan to keep you here all night.” 

You felt your cheeks get warm, but put an arm around his neck anyway. “ One,” you repeated, though your lips twitched into a smile. 

“ Counter offer, ten and a kiss.” He said with a sly grin. 

Your jaw dropped, and your eyes went wide. “ Damn you got a drink in you already?” 

“ Nah don’t drink in season.” 

“ That right?”

He hummed swaying with you to the beat. “ That’s right.” 

“ Five and I teach you how to two-step and a shoulder dip.”

“ Deal.” He said almost before you could finish talking. “ Sounds like you know your stuff.”

“ My mom used to take me and Robby to bars all the time, I learned a few things.” You took both his hands and held them up by your sides. “ A two step is easy, all you do is step forward with your left foot, then follow with your right foot. Then go back, right foot first and repeat.”

“ Just go back and fourth?”

“ Yep, super simple.” 

So that’s what you did, a back and forth two step until he seemed to get bored and spinning you. “ Alright now show me the other one.” 

“ Okay,” you laughed. “ First thing, take my hand,” he did. “ Now you're going to spin me out, away from you.” 

He did as told, spinning you out and pulling you back in, “ Like that?” He asked. 

“ Just like that,” You encouraged. “ But when you pull me back, spin me in twice, so towards your body.” 

He did both steps again. 

“ Perfect next cross your arm over and slide while I drag my hand around your back.” You explained while showing the moves you were talking about. “ Now I do a half spin so my back is facing you and I am going to fall.”

“ A trust fall?”

“ Yes. There is more but I don’t think your ready to carry me on your shoulders.”

He scoffed playfully, “ I can, promise.”

“ Swear you won’t drop me?”

“ Yes.” He says, “ what’s the saying?”

“ Cross my heart?”

“ And hope to die, yes that one.”  

“ Okay in that case, grab my waist.” He did. “ I’m going to jump onto your shoulders, on three ready?”

“ Yes.” He effortlessly picked you up, and ducked his head under your spit legs. 

“ Next I’m going to swing my left leg around and you are going to keep hold of my right, when I do that my body will fall into your arms while I keep an arm around the back of your neck to support you. When we both are standing again you will spin me one more time with the hand you have around my thigh. Got it.”

“ Understood.” He yelled back over the music. 

“ Ready?”

“ Yep.” He confirmed. 

You did everything you said you were going to, albeit a little clumsy, with it being his first time, but at least he didn’t drop you like the guy who taught you did. He was spotting Robby, who was holding you, the two of you were only ten and thought it’d be a cool trick to show mom. Instead you got your first concussion, and Robby broke his nose when he fell face first into the floor.

Kwon steadied you as you spin back to him, his arm loosely draped around your waist. His grin was wide and infectious, “ real speed this time?”

He didn’t wait for your answer before he spun you out and back in while you giggled.

i think a WAR movie would be really fun in general i would love that but i don't think it should be a direct adaptation that's boring. same premise/themes but changed to be something new. not going to fancast because i don't know any actors (i had to look up who ryan reynolds was today) but please feel free to in the reblogs or comments or my inbox :]

i think maybe they should curb alfred's involvement? i like that as an aspect of a larger story being written over the course of many years, but for a single movie i think that might just muddy the water. i think the focus should be more on the robins themselves and it should be something they come together to do on their own with shug-r as the ring-leader.

obviously you would have to alter the character's motivations for joining without alfred in the mix, but i wont go over all that right now. in duke's case i think he should already be friends with riko, who is in turn friends with shug-r. riko & shug-r really need members so riko convinces duke to help just by gathering information and resources and watching out for tips and stuff at first. in exchange the robins have been instructed to keep an eye out for duke's parents (i also think the joker stuff would probably have to be altered a bit to fit a movies run-time but i'm not sure how).

the movie i think would mainly focus on the development of the robins and duke's search for his parents, but would also culminate in a robin war inspired battle. to tie the bats in to make the robin war stuff make sense i think damian should take a sort of hardline stance against them from the beginning and proves as an obstacle for them in some instances, until things culminate in him and duke teaming up to take down the court of owls (if the movie still used them...? idk. maybe duke's parents could be kidnapped instead of missing in some sort of conspiracy and damian is working on taking the whole operation down...? or maybe the movie could be less focused on a robin war sort of thing and instead the big bad is smiley and leave out the other bats altogether... hrm...).

other things i would love to see in this sort of thing:

-the batgirls looking out for riko throughout the movie because thats fun

-costume design scene <3

-the damian and duke scene where they talk about seeing a movie. this is the only part of the comics that needs to be directly translated.

WIP Ask Game

You chose me, Duke thinks. Not the fight. You. You chose me, and Izzy, and Dax, and Shug-R, and Riko, and all the others. You chose Troy.

I am so lucky I am working on one of my rare semi-humorous fics, because I am normally working on like...20 angst projects and 0 fluff/humor fics. But! Duke Week has inspired me, so here's a snippet from a fic currently in the editing stages where Izzy, Duke, and Riko go to a haunted house attraction:

“Okay, I thought this place was gonna be scarier,” Izzy says. “I mean, it’s Gotham. They gotta do better than severed heads. I see those for real.”

“Screaming severed heads, though?” Duke asks as a low, menacing laughter sounds behind them. It’s different enough from the Joker’s high-pitched cackle that, although it makes Duke’s skin itch, he doesn’t do anything more than walk a little faster.

“Didn’t your new big bro do something like that?” Izzy asks.

Duke winces. Three guesses as to which ‘big bro’ Izzy is talking about, and the first two don’t count. “Did he?”

“They weren’t screaming,” Riko says matter-of-factly. “Just severed. Maps told me. And Robin told her.”

Okay so hot take Duke & Alfred would not get along if we take into account how Duke is written by those who actually understand his character & Alfred would very much hate Duke in turn. Cause not only did Alfred lie to Duke about helping him find his parents just to get him to join the WAR group (it was Riko or Shug-R who helped him find them), he also got God knows how many innocent kids killed just because he wanted Bruce to not be Batman. Also given how much empathisis he places on one's parents he would hate Alfred for being a deadbeat parent to Julia, who he knows & likely thinks positively. Alfred on the other hand would hate Duke because Duke is the one who brought back Batman & that is not getting into the fact that he most likely would use a lot of microaggressions if Duke tried to express his blackness, because this is a white British man who was in the Queen of Englands inner circle for once upon that time, I do not trust him around minority characters anymore than I trust Tim.

Okay I’m pissed. Read WFA’s We Are Robin’s chapter. Sure, it gets the themes right, whatever. There isn’t a lot of good to say about getting the surface level topics correct, it’s just accurate.

What I’m mad about is Troy. The casual dismissal of Troy’s death as “wishing to not let untrained kids play vigilantes” or whatever.

That’s not what Troy’s death represents at all. Troy’s tragedy was so much more than that.

I actually was taken a little by how most of Duke’s friends reacted after, Riko Dre and Izzy, they kept going despite how scary that was, that fascinated me a lot. I thought more of them would react like Dax did, lose just a tiny bit of hope, especially Riko who also admired a batfam adjacent symbol like Dax did. Troy was the loss along the way, but they knew long ago it was a risk since they started their journey. Might be because the story was so short and had to move quickly anyways, but it still shows that Troy’s death was part of their motivator, not their obstacle. Their path is to save lives, including their own.

YES IT WAS YOUR FAULT! It absolutely was his fault!!! Forget about sugarcoating it!!!!!!!!! Stop making Duke sugarcoat the batfam’s guilt for no reason either, it’s just weird. Ewwwwww *shudders* 😰 Just let it be man!!!!

i just find this pitiful expression of Troy’s death a bit annoying. Just a little bit.

“Them” “I” not “We” ?????????? Ughhhhhhhhh how could you have Duke refer to We Are Robin through “them” pronouns instead of “we” pronouns UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Shug-R and Oracle…. I mean that was the seemingly natural conclusion to a side support, but Shug has shown to get in on the action too, albeit less so. I have no clue if she’s even tech smart, she just uses a computer? If WFA assumes going on a computer means you’re tech smart then idk how to break it to them. It’s fine to mention, i just wonder why it feels like an off note, could’ve easily integrated Shug by having her text them herself, to feel more involved instead of separated. But i digress

Dre smiles too much. It’s weird. I’m creeped out everytime.

Oh man, Riko would’ve soooooooooo hit Damian. Since Izzy wasn’t there to beat him up again.

Half of this story not about Duke, which is fine but i didn’t realize WFA switched over their formatting, they combined 2 chapters into 1 to make it longer i think. Might be a Season 3 only change?

this might the the only time the WFA artist attempts to draw canon accurate Duke ever instead of this 🥺 sad nervous scared face that makes me want to punch his face in, and he looks so funny (i also think the smirks Tim does looked funny too, and out of place but i’m unsure why. I just have no idea why Tim is smirking so much or so strangely, but yeah)

So Duke’s We Are Robin appearance isn’t over? Is this an arc?? So i still have to wait and read more chapters just to see Duke??? Horrendous idea, how dare.

We Are Robin’s canon accurate designs might look cooler if drawn by Starbite 🤔 right now they just look bland for no reason. I mean, their actual outfits had more detail, and Riko is just wearing some rando clothing for no reason

A simple post that says

Welcome to the world_____ born on July____2024....

Would have been the post he needed to back everyone off the rumors.

But if you think about it shug, rumors started when he never wished her a happy 1st Mother's Day last year , and she didn't even post about it being her first Mother's Day. Which was quite weird 💯 %

Then he posts a Father's Day post instead asking for advice like a single dad looking for help from other single father's.

And let's not forget she wasn't in the photo with him in the nursery. He took the picture with his phone at an angle that showed he took it himself, and he never mentioned her at all in the post. She just commented delusional blah blah blah...

Mother's Day of 2024, in my opinion, is what made it all very weird for not mentioning the woman who was carrying his first child on her day.
