5 Things You Don’t Know About the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
While seeking spiritual serenity in the heart of Abu Dhabi, you cannot dare to miss the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. With its breathtaking architecture and cultural significance this unique mosque is an attraction sight for millions of devotees visiting the UAE. With just a glance, you can perceive the outward beauty of this architectural marvel. But the fascinating facts behind building this mosque will enhance your excitement 10 times for visiting this place.
1. The Chandeliers Here Resemble Inverted Palm Trees
Upturned palm trees are regarded as a symbol of prosperity in the UAE. The crystal chandeliers of this Mosque, therefore, offer endless prosperity to the devotees worshipping here. German Faustig designed these exotic chandeliers in the name of the late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE.
2. It Has Materials From all Over the World
Your Abu Dhabi City tour is incomplete without visiting this exotic mosque. There is a magnificent history behind the intricate designs and the core material of the mosque. It has the largest mosaic marble floor in the world and magnificent domes with gold leaves intricately mingling with each other, showing global unity. The exotic quality mosaics you will witness here were brought from Egypt, Turkey, Greece, New Zealand, Morocco, Pakistan, Italy, China, India, Austria, and Germany as well.
3. Mesmerizing Connection between the Mosque’s Lighting System and the Lunar Cycle
If you visit the Mosque at night, you will witness how the domes of this mosque perfectly blend with the soft glow of the moon. The 360-degree lighting system of the mosque is designed in a way that perfectly replicates the bright white full moon glow during a full moon as well as the light bluish tone as the moon slowly wanes towards the new moon. On the new moon or 14th day of the lunar cycle, the mosque is lit in a deep blue color, suggesting there is no moon in the sky.
This architectural marvel got its first founding stone back in 1996. Being the passionate project of the late founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, this intricately designed modern marvel takes around 11 years to form. Expert engineers and craftsmen from all over the world took part in building and designing this mosque, and on December 20, 2007, it finally opened for the general public.
5. It Is an Excellent Monument of Mughal, Persian, and Ottoman Architecture
You can witness how several arts and architectural forms beautifully mingle in this place. This awesome fusion of Mughal, Ottoman, and Persian traditional arts with modern engineering makes this mosque irresistible to witness during your Abu Dhabi tour.
Conclusion
Did you know these awesome facts about Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque? This place is not just a place of worship but a testament to traditional and modern architecture with engineering genius. So, you must visit this unique mosque during your Abu Dhabi tour.

[ 📹 Thousands of civilians are forced out of their homes and jobs in Hamad Town, north of Khan Yunis, in central Gaza. Israeli occupation forces are directing Palestinian families to Deir al-Balah, where occupation airstrikes have been ongoing for 150 days.]
[ 📈 An infographic detailing Israeli purposeful destruction of Gaza's healthcare system and infrastructure.]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🏡💥🚑 🚨
150 DAYS OF NON-STOP CARNAGE: ISRAELI OCCUPATION FORCES CONTINUE TO GENOCIDE PALESTINIANS IN GAZA
On the 150th day of all-out War on the civilian population of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 13 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 124 civilians, mostly women and children, and wounding another 210 others over the previous 24-hours.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip added that there continues to be significant numbers of missing civilians buried under the rubble of their destroyed homes as IOF soldiers, armored vehicles and artillery shelling prevent ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching the sites of occupation bombings.
The Israeli occupation continues to target hungry civilians in Gaza as they attempt to find food.
In the latest crime against humanity, the Zionist occupation army opened gunfire on starving civilians waiting for flour at the Kuwaiti roundabout near Gaza City, killing at least one civilian and wounding ten others.
Similarly, the Israeli occupation repeated its crime when the IOF shelled a humanitarian aid truck on the coastal road opposite of Deir al-Balah, slaughtering another 11 Palestinian civilians.
Meanwhile, Zionist fighter jets bombed a civilian home filled with displaced Palestinian families in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp, in central Gaza, killing 12 and leaving a number of others missing under the rubble.
Occupation artillery forces also continue to shell the eastern neighborhoods of Deir al-Balah, while occupation air forces resumed its bombardment of the city of Rafah, in the south of Gaza.
In another atrocity, Zionist warplanes bombarded a civilian home belonging to the Al-Gharib family near the Al-Awda roundabout in central Rafah, killing three civilians, including a mother and her child.
At the same time, occupation aircraft bombed the Madi family home in the neighborhoods north of Rafah city, murdering seven Palestinians, including a pregnant woman and her unborn child.
Six more bodies were also pulled from the rubble of the Abu Anza family home after it was bombed yesterday by Israeli jets, bringing the total number of deaths in the atrocity to 20.
In another example of ethnic cleansing, the Israeli occupation army surrounded Hamad Town, northwest of Khan Yunis, in the south-central Gaza Strip, forcing thousands of residents out of their homes, arresting dozens of citizens, and opening fire on anyone trying to leave the city outside occupation routes.
Residents are being pushed out of the city and being told to walk themselves, their families and their belongings to Deir al-Balah, which the occupation regime calls a safe area, but where daily airstrikes and artillery shelling have repeatedly struck civilian targets, including civilian homes, in recent days.
Elsewhere, the Zionist air forces bombed the Al-Farra family home, west of the Jamil Wadi roundabout on the coast of the Al-Mawasi neighborhood, northwest of Khan Yunis, resulting in the deaths and wounding of multiple civilians.
Nothing is sacred to the Zionist army which last night bombed a new cemetery filled with mass graves on Al Hadad Street, in the Jabalia Camp, in the north of Gaza, spreading body parts across a large area and forcing local residents and civil defense crews to rebury their dead.
An occupation warplane also bombed the headquarters of the Engineers Syndicate in the Sheikh Zayed neighborhood in northern Gaza.
Similarly, Israeli artillery fire also bombarded the homes of civilians in the Al-Sabra, Al-Janobi and Al-Rimal neighborhoods of Gaza City, resulting in several casualties among civilians, including women and children.
Two homes were also destroyed when occupation fighter jets bombed two civilian residences in Beit Lahia, in the north of Gaza, wounding a number of people who were taken to Kamal Adwan Hospital.
Additionally, a number of Palestinians were wounded after Israeli air forces bombed a civilian residence in the Bureij Refugee Camp, in central Gaza, while occupation air raids also targeted the Radwan family home in the Jabalia Camp, in the north of the enclave. Artillery shelling also targeted multiple areas in the Jabalia Camp, wounding several more civilians.
In the south of the Gaza Strip, Zionist warplanes and artillery shelling targeted several homes and areas in the city of Rafah.
According to reports from local medical sources, occupation aircraft bombed two civilian homes in Rafah, which led to the tragic deaths of at least 17 civilians.
Similarly, Zionist fighter jets fired multiple missiles into the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in central Gaza, killing two civilians and causing a multitude of additional casualties.
In another crime, an occupation airstrike on a civilian home in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, killed and wounded "scores of civilians" according to local reports.
Ambulance and civil defense crews also managed to retrieve the corpses of at least 11 civilians from different areas of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Palestinian enclave.
As a result of Israel's ongoing war of genocide against the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip, the death toll has now risen to 30'534 civilians killed by the Zionist occupation army, with another 71'920 wounded in IOF strikes.
According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, more than 13'430 children have now been killed by the occupation army, while the IOF have also murdered 8'900 women, and killed 364 medical personnel.
The Zionist forces have also kidnapped an additional 269 paramedics, destroyed 155 medical facilities, knocked 32 hospitals out of service, and bombed or destroyed another 126 ambulances.

Last fall, Egypt was on the brink of economic collapse. A decade of debt-fueled spending on a pharaonic-scale had emptied its Central Bank coffers. By February, Cairo’s public debt was 89% of its gross domestic product. External debt had soared to 46% of GDP. The pound, its currency, was one of the world’s worst performing. Unable to import supplies and repatriate profits, foreign companies were leaving, or threatening to leave Egypt in droves. Annual inflation was over 35%, and double that for some food staples. Egypt seemed on the verge of a sovereign default—its first ever.
Then came Oct. 7.
Officials, businessmen, and financial analysts say that however horrific the war has been for Israelis and for Palestinians in Gaza, Oct. 7 has helped save Egypt from economic ruin and growing political unrest. To be sure, Egypt is paying heavily for the ongoing Israel-Hamas war on its border. Its three main sources of revenue—hard currency from the Suez Canal, tourism, and remittances from Egyptian workers abroad—have plummeted by between 30% and 40%. But without Hamas’ horrific massacre, which killed 1,200 people and took another 240 hostage, and Israel’s much criticized retaliation in Gaza, Egypt would probably not have gotten the international financial lifeline that has rescued it yet again from economic ruin, just in time.
“Just after the attack, the government began strategizing, successfully it’s turned out, about how to use the crisis to secure a bailout,” said Ahmed Aboudouh, an Egyptian expert at Chatham House, a London-based think tank. “Oct. 7 helped save Egypt’s economy, at least temporarily.”
Last February, the Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, unveiled plans to develop a city by the sea on part of the 65-square-mile peninsula of Ras el-Hekma, one of the few undeveloped areas on the Mediterranean coast, part of a sale worth $35 billion in investment and debt relief, the largest foreign direct investment deal in Egyptian history. Egypt will retain a 35% stake in the project. Since Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the chairman of ADQ, is Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan’s brother and the UAE’s national security adviser, the Ras el-Hekma purchase was far more than a financial transaction. It was part of an Egyptian bailout.
Egyptians bristle at the loss of their nation’s diplomatic clout. By reviving its regional profile, Oct. 7 has bestowed another gift on Egypt.
Then in March, Cairo secured a critical $8 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund, with strong American support. The IMF infusion, in turn, opened other foreign faucets. The European Union promptly agreed to provide another $8 billion in grants and loans, ostensibly to help Egypt’s economy, but in reality, to assure Egypt’s help in preventing Arab and African migrants from reaching European shores. In total, the IMF, Europe, and the Gulf have now poured well over $50 billion of foreign currency into Egypt’s cash-strapped coffers. “The U.S., Europe, and the Gulf clearly agreed that the Sissi government could not be permitted to fail,” said Steven Cook, an expert on Egypt at the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations. “Geopolitics has taken over.”
Only months before, the IMF had not completed the review of Egypt’s loan agreement approved in December 2022, thereby withholding a tranche of the $3 billion rescue package, as the government had failed to deliver on agreed benchmarks. While the fund attributed its about-face in March to the increasing damage being done to Egypt’s economy by the Israel-Hamas war—or what it euphemistically called a “more challenging external environment”—absent American pressure on the fund and on Egypt to agree belatedly to financial reforms it had previously rejected, the IMF loan and even the Ras el-Hekma deal would not have gone through. Since Washington is the fund’s largest shareholder with a 16.5% stake, it holds sway over its key lending decisions.
The Biden administration, too, was obviously unwilling to risk the economic collapse and political destabilization of the Arab Middle East’s largest country and the first Arab state to make peace with neighboring Israel in the midst of one of the region’s deadliest wars in modern history and with other conflicts around it still raging—especially since Egyptian mediation with Hamas was crucial to White House policy. “Egypt has proven, yet again,” said Aboudouh, “that it is, as its elite believes, too big to fail.”

MORE ISRAELI AIRSTRIKES TARGETING CIVILIAN HOMES AND A NEW MASSACRE OF STARVING PALESTINIAN FAMILIES
In a new set of atrocities committed by the Zionist occupation army, Israeli soldiers opened gunfire on starving Palestinian civilians waiting for Humanitarian aid trucks to arrive at the Kuwaiti roundabout in Gaza City on Sunday evening, while renewed airstrikes targeting civilian residences in the central and southern Gaza Strip claimed more civilian lives.
According to reporting by Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire on hungry Palestinian citizens waiting for food aid trucks to arrive at the Kuwaiti roundabout in Gaza City, killing and wounding dozens of civilians.
Previously, IOF warplanes bombed a small truck carrying humanitarian aid and displaced civilians in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, slaughtering eight civilians and wounding a number of others.
Palestinian new organization SAMA News is also reporting the deaths of multiple civilians, including women and children, after IOF jets bombed several civilian residences in central and southern Gaza.
According to reports, at least 12 civilians were killed and 42 others wounded after occupation warplanes bombed a civilian home housing multiple displaced families in the Nuseirat Camp in central Gaza.
Another civilian was killed and several others wounded as a result of another Zionist bombing of an inhabited home in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
A number of others were killed after Israeli air forces bombarded the Al-Gharib family home in central Rafah, while the Israeli occupation also bombed the Sheikh Zayed and Tal al-Zaatar neighborhood in northern Gaza.
As a result of Israel's ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the death toll among Palestinian civilians has risen above 30'410 killed, more than 12'300 of which being children and another 8'000 women, while an additional 71'700 Palestinians have been wounded since the beginning of the aggression on October 7th.
