There’s this Canadian cartoon “1001 Nights” that I grew up with as a kid, tho I watched it with the Arabic dub

Shahryar doesn’t want to kill Scheherazade bc it’s kid show but for the longest time I assumed that Donyazad and Shahzaman were their kids, idk why bc they refer to them by their first names not as mom and dad. The show was created by an Iranian woman which explains the lack of orientalism.

Getting closer to scope down on a topic for one of the two longer assignments (20 pages) I have to write.

I want to write about Shahrazad and how philosophers see her as an embodiment of the idea that "to live is to narrate"; and how postcolonial arab writers and artists reclaim Shahrazad from Western interpretation to regain agency and authorship over themselves ("narrate or be silenced").
