hey emu!! could you tell me about sfth? i see your posts about it and its really intruiging but i cant figure out what form of media it is or where to find it 😭

I KNOW YOU SAID YOU FOUND MY PINNED POST BUT I’D STILL LOVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THEM!!!!!! :))))

So, shoot from the hip (sfth) are an improvised comedy group. This means that they go on stage and make up what they perform on the spot. They do have formats that they tend to stick to, like how their shows run in two halves- the first being drama games and the second is a full improvised play :D

There’s four members in the group: Luke, Sam, AJ and Tom (left to right in this image)

They met at uni, which is where they started doing improv.

Basically, they upload videos of their shows online and have really taken off!!! They’re @shootimpro pretty much everywhere (the empty tumblr blog with that url isn’t them, a fan is saving it for if they ever do want to make an official tumblr)

Anyway, their improvised plays have the most in-depth plot out of most of their stuff and we get very crazy about the characters :)) Everything they do is based off audience suggestions btw, so the play title is suggested by the audience and then sfth will create a story from that (20-30 minutes most of the time)

They also have a patreon with more content on it and it’s so fun

They’re so so funny and also just REALLY NICE GOOD PEOPLE

Like they’re such genuine people, there’s no fake persona that they put on to talk to us and it’s lovely. On patreon there’s videos of them from 2020 from before they were as big as they are (400 youtube subs at the time, now 500k) and they act the same :) and it’s just so lovely. The way that they actually care about people is so nice 😭

Also! The term is also a thing with shooting and so there’s occasionally (vary rarely) random posts of guns.

The term means to be spontaneous or act without thinking- hence why sfth chose the name. (They even chose the name spontaneously!!)

for sfth fans who don't know: shoot from the hip is also a photography technique where the photographer doesn't raise the camera to their eye and instead just holds the camera in their hand at waist level (hence "shooting from the hip"), which is usually used by street photographers to create more natural sceneries without drawing too much attention to themselves

so if you see a random photography post in this tag, that's why :]

Just a note that all sfth videos are subtitled to my knowledge and the recent uploads get subtitled asap (a decent amount in other languages too!!!) The subtitlers are AMAZING!!!! They are credited in the video descriptions.

If you see any fake sfth accounts on any platforms try to report them!!! Unfortunately there’s a multitude of them on tiktok >:( and tiktok doesn’t let people report them (there’s an issue for some when you try to) Try to not suppourt or watch these stolen videos! Sfth are verified now!!! (If that’s easier for people to tell which is the real them :))

Obviously there’s no rules on tumblr but as a general courtesy to the guys, consider keeping in mind:

Not sharing links to patreon content if you’re a patreon (which is probably actually a patreon rule but I’m just assuming that) and keeping clips of patreon things under 2 minutes. Screenshots and discussions are fine!! (As some people have been wondering) though maybe consider tagging the original post with a patreon tag (like #sfthpatreon) so people who aren’t patreons and don’t want to see patreon stuff can filter it out.

Not sharing screenshots/links/clips/ect of the guys when they were younger unless it’s still on their actual sfth account or their own personal accounts. They’ve stated before that they don’t really want these shared and have taken some older videos down.

[I’m only saying this so that people are aware and keep it in mind and be informed!!! Not telling people what they can and can’t do!]

question! i'm considering getting sfth patreon and like worth? i adore their content and have exhausted everything on youtube but im really cheap lol

The decision to get patreon really depends on if the cost is worth it for what you get out of it to you :)

Patreon is £4 and you get:

all old 2020-2022 livestreams and some livestreams in the same format from 2023 and 2024

Bill murray shows live streamed from the stage, plus you can watch them back if you can’t watch live/want to rewatch (these have improvised plays in them)

the dnd streams! :D (2 from the bitter sweethearts campaign and one of some returning sfth characters. The bitter sweethearts are also gonna be coming back in 2025! Each dnd stream is at least two hours) with patreon you can also access the bitter sweethearts character sheets if that’s something you’re into :)

Hey! I thought you were probably the best person to ask and I can't find the answer anywhere. Does Luke still live in Spain? Most shows posted seem to have him in them

Thank you for the ask, anon! :)

Yes he does still live in Spain- though he has been at more and more shows as they’ve gained popularity, and he said in the patreon podcast in september that he plans on losing his day job at some point when he’s making enough money from sfth to do it full time. (Which would allow him to be at all the shows. Currently he still misses a few.)

As far as I know he makes sure to be there for all their big shows (like their Christmas special and stuff like that.)

(AJ’s might be closer to grey-greenish than blue but that’s kinda the same thing yk? Or they might be the ones that change a bit- but that’s not a fact that’s just me thinking haha. Officially they’re blue :))

I just got myself a SFTH Patreon subscription as an early Christmas present (yay!) and am still figuring out how it works. Since you're Tumblr's resident expert on such things, I wondered if you could explain how one might find the exclusive plays and DnD streams?

Hello!! I’m so happy to hear you got patreon :D Congrats!! it’s very fun

The exclusive longforms, dnd and more are linked in sfth’s pinned post on patreon :D

When you open the app, you’re taken to a general “all creators page” with recent posts from any subscriptions you have.

To get to sfth’s actual patreon page you click on the square at the top with their logo on it, and then the square becomes a rectangle that says “shoot from the hip” - click on that and you’ll be taken to their page :)

(I’m pretty sure if you have multiple subscriptions you see them all listed at the top but I’m not sure- but that’s why I think it’s like this :))

When you’re taken to their page their pinned post is the top one, and it’s got up coming streams and the links to most things (including the exclusive longforms and dnd!)

If you need any more help or this didn’t make sense just ask!! I hope this helps <3
