Maximize Efficiency: The Essential Role of Servo Drives and Protection Relay Repair
In the world of industrial automation, servo drives and protection relay repair play crucial roles in ensuring efficient operation and safety of machinery. Servo drives are essential components in controlling motion, providing precise positioning and speed regulation for various applications. They are widely used in robotics, CNC machinery, and other automated systems.
Tumblr media
What are Servo Drives?
Servo drives are electronic devices that regulate the motion of a servo motor. They interpret signals from a controller, adjusting power output to achieve the desired position, speed, or torque. This precise control allows for high efficiency and accuracy, making servo drives vital in industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive.
Importance of Protection Relays
Protection relays are critical for safeguarding electrical equipment. They monitor parameters like current, voltage, and frequency, detecting faults or abnormalities that could lead to equipment damage or operational downtime. When a fault is identified, the protection relay activates, disconnecting the affected circuit and preventing further issues.
The Need for Protection Relay Repair
Over time, protection relays can experience wear or malfunction, jeopardizing equipment safety. Regular maintenance and timely repairs are essential to ensure these devices function correctly. Repairing protection relays instead of replacing them can be a cost-effective solution, extending the lifespan of the equipment.
Common Issues and Repair Solutions
Some common issues with protection relays include incorrect settings, physical damage, or electronic component failures. Skilled technicians can diagnose these problems, often repairing rather than replacing components. This not only saves costs but also minimizes waste, aligning with sustainability goals in modern industry.
Conclusion
In conclusion, understanding the functions of servo drives and the importance of protection relay repair is essential for maintaining the efficiency and safety of industrial systems. Investing in quality components and timely repairs ensures that your operations run smoothly, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. For businesses looking to enhance their automation processes, prioritizing the maintenance of these critical components is key to long-term success.

Broken Vows - 9
“‘M gonna go look at habs for ya when ya have a rest,” Jazz told Prowl. He avoided the glyph nap which seemed a little mocking to him. As his frame continued to integrate the delicate repairs and with a fragile self-respair systems, Prowl ran out of energy quickly and recharged off and on throughout the mega-cycle.
“Perhaps you might like to take Smokescreen with you?” Prowl offered. “He would benefit from fresh air.”
“Are ya sure?” Jazz asked.
“I trust you,” Prowl said.
“What about you and Blue?” Smokescreen asked.
“We need more rest than you, Bravespark,” Prowl told him. “I know it is not terribly fun for you when we recharge. There is a fine playground in the park your progenitor and I used to walk in.”
“I’d love to,” Jazz said. “What do ya say, Smokey?”
“Okay!”
“I’ll give ya a list o’ favourites,” Jazz offered Prowl. Prowl just shook his helm.
“I trust you and Smokescreen to select it,” he said. “You know how little I concerned myself with my habsuite.”
“A’ight,” Jazz said. “We’ll do our best.”
Smokescreen was nervous, Jazz knew. His genitor was nervous too. Jazz held Smokescreen’s servo in a firm grip as they walked down the hall and made their way to the tram that would drop them off at the metro. It was faster to drive, of course but Jazz was too nervous to drive Smokescreen and the mechling was far too young to drive on his own. Smokescreen would not have wheels of his own until he was a youngling. Sooner or later, Jazz would give him a ride somewhere but Smokescreen had already gotten lost once on his watch and he was not going to risk getting in a crash with him on their first trip off base. The media were all gone, having been chased off by the Primal Vanguard after Prime had given his speech. That did not mean there might not be opportunists who would sneak a quick shot but Jazz had a plan for that.
“I want ya to wear this,” Jazz told Smokescreen as he magnetized a small device to the collar of his armour.
“What’s it for?” Smokescreen asked.
“If anyone tries to take a picture o’ ya, this’ll scramble it,” Jazz told him. “I know yer ori don’t want yer face all o’er the news.”
“It was the same in Praxus,” Smokescreen said. “He didn’t want me in portraits. He didn’t want Blue either but he wasn’t allowed to say no.”
“‘M sorry yer Ori had to make that choice,” Jazz told him. “I’m sorry I bout’m in that spot.”
“Origin loves you,” Smokescreen said. “And it makes him sad. It always made him sad.”
“He’s got good reason, Sweetspark,” Jazz told him. “I broke his spark. I did it on purpose.”
“You were sick,” Smokescreen defended him and Jazz ruffled his helm. After everything Jazz had said and done, Prowl had excused him to their creation. It was a kindness Jazz did not think he deserved.
“Don’t make the damage any easier to live with, Bitlet,” he said.
“Hmm,” Smokescreen took a seat in the window and Jazz sat next to him. “You feel bad about it.”
“Sure do,” Jazz told him. “I didn’t know I’d kindled ya wit Prowl until I saw yer designation next to his on the casualties list. Even when I was better, I was too scared to face your Ori, even the memories o‘m so I didn’t read his letters, ‘n I lied to myself ‘bout how bad I’d behaved. I didn’t want to remember how bad I’d been. When I saw yer designation I had to face what a monster I’d been. I didn’t think I deserved to mourn ya, either o’ ya. But I needed to. I still carry the ultrasound photos he sent me.”
“Really?” Smokescreen asked. Jazz showed him the ultrasound. “I was just a blob.”
“We all start out that way.”
Jazz knew Smokescreen hoped his procreators would get back together and raise him and his brother together. It was something Jazz was a bit too scared to hope for himself. He loved Prowl dearly. With all the clarity in the world now, Jazz did not shy from this truth. The reality was, however he had hurt Prowl terribly and he had driven him away, laying the groundwork for the direction the Praxian’s life had taken. Every awful thing that had happened after could be placed at Jazz’s peds. At some point, if Prowl ever wanted to hear it, Jazz would like to apologize probably, to make sure he knew that Jazz took responsibility, that he had no excuses for everything he had said and done. He could not ask for a chance to be better for Prowl, for Smokescreen and for Bluestreak. Jazz would have to be better and to let the chips fall however they might.
“I know Origin’s originator and grandcreators were afts,” Smokescreen said. “What about yours? Origin never told me about them.”
“That’s ‘cause I never told’m,” Jazz explained. “My genitors were split-spark twins. They died in a riot in Polyhex ‘n losin’em broke my Ori ’n made ‘m go mad... sorta like I did, I guess. Me ‘n my brother, my twin split up... blamin’ different mecha for what happened. I know they’re alive but that’s all I know.”
“You got better,” Smokescreen said. “I bet he will too.”
Counterpunch had sent Jazz another of his rants just that light-cycle. As always, it made no sense. There was no threat to Jazz in particular or the Autobots in general. It was just random glyphs, not even in sentences but almost just splattered across the page. Because Counterpunch did not know he had creations, because Punch had always considered his family to be his and not his alter’s, that he even had the code to the commlink Jazz had only ever shared with his family was still a bit unnerving. Talk of a mechanical spark and grinding gears, even when Jazz read it together with the other notes he had received lately, he found no meaning in it. He wondered if Ricochet got notes like these. His twin would never tell him. Ricochet had blamed Sentinel Prime for the deaths of their progenitors and the madness of their originator, in hindsight Jazz had come to realize that he had been right. Ricochet did not forgive Jazz lending is allegiance to that prime. Whether Ricochet called himself a Decepticon or freelanced, as had been the family business, Jazz did not know. He had not spoken to his twin in millenia and had not laid optics on him for even longer.
“This is our stop,” Jazz took Smokescreen servo and led him down the escalator and out onto the street.
It was just around the corner from Mirror’s, nearer than even Prowl’s old hab and been and a short walk to the park. There were other habsuite on his list to look at but if this one was even close to as good as the ad had suggested, he thought it would be perfect. Smokescreen, of course, would be the one to cast the deciding vote. The property manager shook Smokescreen’s servo after he shook Jazz’s and that was a point in his favour. There were lots of families in the building, or so said the manager and that was a point for the building. No one had lived in the habsuite for a while so it was a completely blank slate. Imagining how it might be set up was not a problem to Jazz. He laughed as Smokescreen ran about, checking every room. The mechling definitely needed sometime in the park to release some energy.
“This room for Origin, because it has a pretty view,” Smokescreen pulled Jazz along for a tour. “This room’s for Blue because its right next door. This rooms for me and this rooms for my grandori and uncle when they come to visit.”
“He’s so sweet,” the property manager said. “And so well behaved.”
“His Ori gets all the credit,” Jazz replied.
“Origin’s going to love it,” Smokescreen declared as they left, key card stored in Jazz’s subspace. As Jazz was an officer in the Autobot Corp, the property manager was quick to sign the habsuite over to Jazz, even having never met the principle tenant. Security was good, it would be better when Jazz added encryptions to the lock. Smokescreen had picked a good room for Prowl, it had a few of the park. He would love it.
“He’ll love that ya picked it for’m,” Jazz said. “How ‘bout we go to the park now ‘n ya can run ‘round like a wild mechanimal?”
“Okay!”
“And who is this?” Jazz jumped. The voice was husky. He knew without looking that it belonged to a wispy femme about his originator’s age.
“Dipole!” Jazz exclaimed. He had met her when she had returned from burying her progenitor. The funds that had seen her get there had been stolen and Prowl had hunted the thief down and returned them too her.
“I’m Smokescreen, Ms Dipole!”
“You look just like your Origin, doin’t you?” Dipole said. “Mirror mentioned you stopped by, to pick up a peace offering. Than she saw the news and she’s been as close to a wreck as I’ve ever seen her.”
“Mirror makes the yummy rust sticks, right?” Smokescreen asked.
“That’s right,” the femme replied.
“Prowl’s got some more healin’ to do but he’ll visit soon,” Jazz promised.
“Mirror always thought of Prowl as something of an adoptive grandcreation,” Dipole said. “What with him being all but orphaned.”
“Can we say hi?” Smokescreen asked.
“Uh...” Jazz thought on it. “I don’t want to take the wind outta yer Ori’s sails, Bravespark.”
“Eh?”
“I thought yer Ori outta be the one to introduce ya to Mirror,” Jazz said.
“He won’t mind,” Smokescreen said. “Especially if we bring more rust sticks. And... if Ms Mirror is worried about Origin, she’ll feel better and Origin’ll feel better knowing she’s not worrying anymore.”
“He is very clever,” Dipole said.
“All credit goes to his Ori,” Jazz replied. “Okay, we’ll say hi to Mirror.”
“They were really buried for vorns?” Dipole asked, softly as they headed to the bakery.
“Yeah,” Jazz replied.
“Mirror wouldn’t look at the casualty list,” Dipole explained. “After he said goodbye, she always figured he’d come back. She said he belonged here and not in Praxus but... well he never came back and then Praxus was gone. She didn’t want to know because if she didn’t know than she could imagine he was well, wherever he was.”
“I promise he’s okay now,” Jazz said. “He thought Smokey outta get out ‘n get some exercise while ‘m ‘n the bitty rest more.”
“It’ll be good to see him,” Dipole said. “He was always one of Mirror’s favourites.”
As was always the case, Jazz smelled Mirror’s Glaze before he saw it. She was both baker and goodie maker and she was a master of everything she touch. Something she did that her customers loves was she decorated some cakes upfront where customers could watch. Jazz remembered how much the sparklings he had watched had seemed to love that. The elderly femme was at that very counter, pouring her signature multi-colour glaze over a collection of small cakes. There was a mechling kneeling on the bench in front of the counter, watching Mirror work. Smokescreen let go of Jazz’s servo and inched up to take a perch next to the stranger. Jazz stood back with Dipole and watched. With the precision of millennia of practice, Mirror swiped a long spatula across the tops of the cakes as the excess glaze dripped own into the trail. She raised her helm from her work and smiled at the mechlings as the other other got up to go. Her optics widened and she looked up and saw Jazz with Dipole. She managed a little wave to the mechling who had been watching her work.
“This is...?” She asked, plating almost ashen.
“Smokescreen,” Jazz said. “Smokey, this is Mirror. One o’ yer Ori’s favourite mechanisms.”
“Hello Ma’am,” Smokescreen said. “Nice to meet you.”
“My goodness you look like your originator,” Mirror gasped. “With just a touch of your progenitor.”
“Origin says I have Genitor’s smile,” Smokescreen declared.
“You do,” Mirror agreed.
“Dipole saw us on the street and Smokey couldn’t wait to meet ya,” Jazz explained. “Prowl’s doin’ great. Just needs a lot o’ recharge right now.”
“Don’t you dare let him rush himself,” Mirror ordered and Smokescreen giggled.
“Better listen, Genitor, she means it.”
“Clever mechling,” Mirror praised him.
Smokescreen decided they should bring cakes to the medbay, to thank the medics and nurses of helping them. Jazz could not deny it was a sweet idea. Really, he could not deny Smokescreen anything just yet, something that was going to get him into trouble with Prowl if he was not careful. It was Smokescreen who suggested maybe Mirror or Dipole might want to come visit Prowl and Bluestreak on base and Jazz also thought it was a decent idea. Prowl was very much in a daze, though he was entirely lucid, his world had been blown to pieces and he was too out of sorts to even begin putting it back together. The Autobots were not the same as the ones who had chased him off. Optimus was as different from Sentinel as monochrome and technicolor. Mirror and Dipole were the same though, absolutely the same, on the surface as they had always been and it might be good for Prowl to have a bit of that familiarity. He would check with Prowl first. For now, he had the comm for the bakery.
“Genitor, genitor!” Smokescreen pulled on Jazz’s bracer as Dipole helped Mirror back up the cakes.
“What’s up, Smokey?” Jazz asked. His creation was in a panic.
“He doesn’t want to go with him!” Smokescreen pointed to the very mechling that had been watching Mirror work. Someone had him by the wrist, tugging him along as the mechling struggled. “He’s scared. He’s really scared.”
He was. Jazz understood now how Smokescreen could be as perceptive as he was.
“Stay here,” he ordered. “Watch Smokey, okay? Be ready to comm the enforcers.”
“Let go! Let go!” The mechling was squirming. He saw Jazz coming and struggled even harder. “Let me go!”
“Hey!” Jazz called to the mech as he grabbed his shoulder. He did not finish his sentence. As the mech turned, brushing his servo away, Jazz knew exactly who this was. “Lockdown! Got some cogs showin’ yer face in Iacon.”
“Outta my way, shortstack,” Lockdown sneered.
“Let him go!” Smokescreen yelled as he kicked Lockdown in the leg. Even as Lockdown started to turn, Jazz saw white he pulled a blaster from his subspace and brought the butt down on Lockdown’s helm. Dipole was there, swooping both mechlings up and out of harms way.
“I’m so sorry,” Dipole said. “He’s fast!”
“He is,” Jazz agreed. “‘N real brave.”
“Devcon, are you okay?” Dipole asked. “Where’s your Origin?”
“Down there,” Devcon, the mechling, pointed towards the park. “He’s dead!”
“Hole up,” Jazz crouched low, cuffing Lockdown with his strongest stasis cuffs. “Dipole comm the enforcer. Sweetspark, what happened?”
“Lockdown’s my genitor,” Devcon explained. “Origin took me and ran away. He thought Iacon would be save but he found us. He shot Origin in the park.”
“‘M so sorry, Sweetspark,” Jazz said. Smokescreen hugged Devcon as the mechlings grief swelled up in him. Devcon clung to him and cried.
Ironhide came, shooing the enforcers away to deal with the murder scene and taking custody of the bounty hunter, very literally Iacon’s most wanted. Jazz and Smokescreen stayed with Devcon until SPS came to take him away. If he had family safe to sent him to, they would find them. If not, they would find him a foster family. His life had changed forever, Jazz hoped whoever took charge of him, they would be prepared to help him make his way through it. It was joors before they were done with the enforcers and SPS. Jazz held Smokescreen’s servo tight as they made their way back to base. Though he had commed Ratchet to explain to Prowl what was up, some of it, Jazz was going to have to explain himself.
“Ya can feel what other mecha are feelin’, can’t ya Smokey?” Jazz asked.
“Yeah,” Smokescreen replied.
“It’s rough sometimes, ain’t it?” Jazz asked.
“Mhm,” Smokescreen said. “It’s not normal, is it?”
“It ain’t,” Jazz said. “But it don’t mean anything’s wrong wit ya. Means yer and empath. I am too. I’ll teach ya how to shield when it’s too much.”
“Oh!” Smokescreen exclaimed. “You feel guilty.”
“Ya, Mechlin’,” Jazz chuckled. “It gave me a bit o’ a rough time. I don’t want that for ya, Sweetspark.”
“Is that why you were sick?” Smokescreen asked.
“It was part of it,” Jazz told him. “I didn’t know how to shield. I do now, once I teach ya, ya’ll be safe from dealin’ wit what I did.”
“Okay.”
Jazz looked straight ahead. Prowl was not going to take this well.

A Reflection of You in Blue (SG TFOne Fanfic)
Original TF:One Optimus Prime ends up in a TF:One Shattered Glass universe and meets that universe's Megatron.
The difference in their universes couldn't be more clear.
---
Honestly, I wrote this fic for me and only me HAHAHA
Oh my god I love Shattered Glass so much and I really wanted to make the original tfone Optimus meet shattered glass tfone Megatron. Slight warning though that a lot of the stuff here is from my personal AU of a Shattered Glass TF:One. I'm happy to answer any questions if something is confusing. Just know that a lot of the references here are based primarily on the Fanclub Shattered Glass comics.
But yeah, I wanted to indulge myself a bit and write this fanfic hahaha.
---
“Are the cuffs necessary?”
He tested the metal restraints, wincing as a bolt of electricity ran down his servos. Optimus sighed, dropping his servos back against his lap. His tired blue optics warily looked up at the mech beside him, anticipating the cannon that would press against his helm at any moment. Instead of pain, he could only feel relief as the cuts on his shoulder were slowly repaired. Those servos - familiar yet so different - that only ever inflicted injury, could now only heal. Optimus couldn’t even bring his processor around to acknowledge this. Well, he could hardly process… everything.
“Soundwave verified that what you said was true, but please understand that everyone is still wary of you.” The mech stood back, having finished the repair process. Optimus could feel the energon in his cables turn cold as his optics met the other mech’s. It was the faceplate that threw him off. He looked so much like him… but everything was different. Instead of the dull gray frame, black helm, and red optics that pursued him even in his dreams, this mech was a brighter white. Even the black accents he had weren’t imposing. “This is to keep up morale.”
Morale… Optimus would laugh if the whole thing wasn’t driving him insane. The Decepticons and morale? Every Autobot knew that Starscream would have murdered Megatron and vice versa if the two didn’t have the same aligned goal. Even then, it was a common sight to see the two trying to kill one another even on the battlefield. Shaking his helm slightly, he turned back to this universe’s Megatron. The mech stared back at him, not a hint of emotion in that singular blue optic (and that detail freaked him out more than everything else had). “I won’t hurt anyone here.”
“I trust you. You’re different from the Optimus Prime of this universe. I don’t mean just the paint job but in personality.” Aside from the missing optic, it unnerved Optimus how cold this Megatron’s voice was. He had gotten so used to hearing his name yelled across the battlefield in rage that he had already forgotten what D-16 had sounded like. Has he always sounded this empty? No, Optimus had fond memories of D-16, even if he had forgotten his voice. “I trusted you since you first opened your intake. The Optimus Prime of this universe never calls me Megatron.”
“What does he call you?” It was a redundant question but honestly Optimus didn’t know what else to say. What could he say? Just a few joors ago, he had been in Iacon with his fellow Autobots, and now he was a universe away where apparently Primus was evil, some Primes were warmongers, and he was the current reason for the civil war happening in Cybertron. Even more confusing, the Decepticons were actually good and trying to stop this universe’s Optimus Prime even though Primus had given him the Matrix of Leadership. He needed a long recharge after all this.
“I think we both know.” Megatron let out a tired vent, optic closing before suddenly approaching. Unable to help himself, Optimus flinched back, expecting a phantom punch towards his helm. He felt almost guilty as Megatron stopped. It would take some adjusting. Even if he did look different, Optimus couldn’t forget his Megatron - the mech who was nothing now but rage and vengeance. This universe’s Megatron didn’t deserve to be stared at with distrust, but he couldn't forget the cycles of fighting that had left their mark on him. “He never flinches.”
Megatron said quietly, and then he was gone.
“My universe’s Megatron, even before he took on Megatronus’ cog, is a tankbot. Why do you have wings?” After finding himself stuck in this universe, Optimus spent most of his time by Megatron’s side, much to the suspicion of Starscream. Still, this Starscream (who was the leader of the Decepticons, and that did make Optimus laugh) had let it happen since Megatron had vouched for Optimus’ good character - and he needed Optimus nearby while he worked on a way to bring Optimus back to his universe. “And you’re a scientist! I’m not saying my Megatron is stupid, but… he wouldn’t…”
“There are many differences between your universe and mine.” Megatron stated impassively, hardly staring down from the equations he was pouring himself over. It had taken some time, but Optimus had come to find out that this Megatron was the Decepticon’s medic and scientist, with mathematics being a side passion of his. It was hard to process that the Shockwave wasn’t the mad scientist of this universe. Not that Megatron was mad, if anything, he had been nothing but apathetic around Optimus. “In your universe, your D-16 had resigned himself to the mines. I… A part of me could never.”
“That doesn’t explain the wings.” He knew he was pushing it, and he knew it really wasn’t what Optimus wanted to ask. It was that singular optic that continued to run in his processor. If this Megatron was a medic and scientist, why hadn’t he replaced it by now? Surely it wasn’t because he lacked the scraps or materials for it? Megatron finally looked up at him, and Optimus regretted trying to get the mech’s attention. Looking at that optic made him nauseous. “You still changed your designation to Megatron in this universe, so you must have Megatronus Prime’s cog.”
“I changed my designation because I admired Megatronus Prime, and to separate myself from my past.” The other mech scoffed out in irritation. It was the first emotion Optimus had managed to coax out of him. “As I said, our universes are different. Your Matrix of Leadership restored the transformation cogs of the cogless. Primus isn’t so kind in this universe. While he had granted us the return of energon, the transformation cogs were not restored. You said that your Megatron took Sentinel’s cog - which had originally been Megatronus’ - I did no such thing. Sentinel never even took Megatronus’ cog.”
“Then…?” He had considered the possibility that somehow Megatronus Prime had been a Cybertronian jet in this universe, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Optimus nearly panicked before Megatron had clarified he hadn’t taken Sentinel’s cog. The Sentinel in his universe had wings, and if everyone in this universe was different from who they were in his universe, had there been a possibility that Sentinel had been good? Optimus could hardly process the thought. Still, a part of him felt proud and slightly satisfied that Megatron hadn’t resorted to taking Sentinel’s cog. “If the transformation cogs weren’t restored…”
“There is one similarity you both share, it’s that you don’t know when to stop pushing and searching for information you shouldn't have, Prime.” The anger disappeared just as quickly as it had come. Optimus met the shocked look in Megatron’s optic, the mech surprised at his own rage. Megatron headed quickly towards the doors. “Understand this. When Primus… When your god has forsaken you, then sometimes you have to pave your own path forward. You can’t rely on a god that doesn’t care for you. Sometimes, you have no one but yourself.”
Then Megatron was fleeing out the door.
“I’m sorry.” It was the first words that Megatron had said after their confrontation. Optimus looked up from the datapad he had been reading through. They haven’t had any luck in finding a way to send him back, so Optimus had busied himself by learning this universe’s history. It was hard though with the limited information (he wondered if there had been a deliberate erasure of the records…). He had nothing else to do, especially since Megatron had avoided him after the incident. “I lost my temper at you, and I think I owe you an explanation for my reaction.”
Before Optimus could object, the mech had already sat down beside him. Selfish as it was, Optimus wished Megatron had sat to his left, since at this angle, he could see the empty socket where Megatron’s left optic should have been. “As you know, during a war, desperate measures happen and it can’t be helped when energon is spilled. The Decepticons have never resorted to extreme measures in the same way our Autobots have and I’m sure in the same way your Decepticons have either. Except one. I’ve eradicated any trace of the technology so it could never be repeated.”
Megatron let out a weak laugh. “The other Decepticons were furious. Possibly the only time Starscream had turned his anger on me… It was unethical of me, but I think at the time, I needed to do it. I was still D-16 then, and I was still cogless. It was only a few astroweeks after we’d been banished to the surface by Optimus Prime. I had been sparkbroken and I thought I would die from the betrayal. It would have been selfish to do so, not when I knew that Cybertron couldn’t be left at the hands of a tyrant.”
There was a tense silence, and Optimus knew that Megatron was stalling. He should really tell the mech to stop. He wasn’t owed an explanation… but he would be lying if he said he wasn’t curious. Megatron went on, “You would know, I think, but it isn’t easy fighting a mech you once loved. I knew that if I wanted to take down the mad Prime, I would have to do something really drastic. I only ever tested it on myself. I would never let any mech undergo the process. The technology has since been destroyed. It’s for the best.”
Optimus looked down to find that Megatron had curled his servos into fists, and his face was contorted in pain. “I reprogrammed all the emotions I had ever held for my Orion Pax. I couldn’t separate him from the mech he had become, so I forced myself to remove the feelings I had for him. It shouldn’t have been done, but the mech who I had been - when I had been D-16 - couldn’t live knowing he’d been betrayed by the one mech he thought would always stand by his side. Now… Now all I feel for that Prime is apathy.”
Awkwardly, Megatron placed a servo on his shoulder, as if to console him before quickly running away. Optimus sat there, taking in the information. Apathy. Megatron felt nothing for his universe’s Optimus Prime. He could piece the rest without the other mech having to say it. He had run off after their confrontation because he had been scared. He assumed that since he was just a different version of this universe’s Optimus Prime, that he would feel nothing towards him too. Optimus’ thoughts didn’t stop there.
He couldn’t help but wonder if his Megatron would have done the same thing.
“Your optic…”
The other mech stared at the wall, unable to meet Optimus’ own gaze. He had found out by accident. He had been reckless and left the Decepticon base during an ongoing battle. He had only wanted to help. While he had been on the battlefield, he had finally caught sight of his counterpart. Instead of the blue, this universe’s Optimus Prime was painted in purple. Honestly, they might have looked the same if it weren’t for the difference in color, but there was one difference that still scared him. The optics. One was red… and the other blue.
“You banished your D-16 to the surface. If I still had my emotions for this universe’s Orion Pax, I think I would feel jealous that you hadn’t hurt your D-16 so badly.” Megatron walked past him, giving him a look over his shoulder pad as if to check if he would follow. Optimus did. He had waited until Megatron had finished repairing the mechs that had been injured during the recent battle to ask him about his optics. Now they were both in the hallway outside the medical bay. The air felt tense. “Mine wanted to take away my optics.”
Optimus stayed silent. Honestly, what could he have said after hearing that? Never ever had he considered doing that to another mech. Not even his Megatron who wouldn’t hesitate to kill him! That lone blue optic stared up at him, waiting for his response but Optimus needed a moment to vent. He could never imagine… The more he learned about this universe’s Optimus Prime, the more he felt lucky that the Decepticons and Megatron in his universe weren’t that depraved in the processor. He could hardly believe that a version of himself would ever be capable of such brutality. “W-why?”
“If I refused to see things his way, then I didn’t deserve to see at all.” Despite the coldness and indifference in Megatron’s voice, Optimus could only feel the horror that the other mech must have felt when he could still feel emotions for what had happened to him. “He pinned me down. It was foolish to fight him without a cog but I needed to stop him before he caused more damage to Iacon. He didn’t take my betrayal well. He had taken out one optic before Starscream got him off me. Then, I fled with the High Guard.”
When his universe’s D-16 had shot him with a cannon, at least he had felt some remorse. At the end, Megatron had let him fall. Still, even after what his former friend had done… Even after the pain of betrayal Optimus had felt - how sparkbroken he had been at the loss - he would never have hurt Megatron that way. He couldn’t convince him, so he let him leave. From the way this Megatron spoke, it was almost as though he hadn’t been banished - as if his Optimus had wanted to keep him, even if it meant hurting him that badly.
“You don’t have to live like this, Megatron. You’re a medic. You could repair it yourself.” Optimus couldn’t understand why Megatron remained this way. That lone blue optic met his gaze, and in them, he could almost see the last remnants of affection that D-16 held for his Orion Pax.
“I keep it as a reminder of what I had lost, what I had chosen to do to try to forget, and…” Megatron gave him a sad smile. “As a hope that one day, he may be able to see through my optics, the way I couldn’t see through his.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my actual SG TF:One AU, Megatron loses his arm because Optimus did axe it before banishing him. In this fic he's missing an optic and wasn't exactly banished mostly because I came across a really good fanart on Twitter and I couldn't stop thinking about it skksks

The humans had a word for it.
Primus, they had a whole damn acronym for it.
PTSD they called it. Post traumatic stress disorder.
Ratchet sees the way Bee's fans kick into panic whenever his binaric module lags, leaving him wordless if even for a microsecond.
Ratchet sees the way Arcee's engine stutters whenever she drives by a red car.
He sees the way Bulkhead's clumsiness with small tools all but dissappear as he performs a manual check and maintenance on his weapons every single night.
He sees the way every bot in the base always try to stand between the humams and the outside walls, just in case they'll have to shield them from unexpected shrapnel.
The way Bee short-range sonar scans for possible exits or hide holes for the humans every time he drives them to a new place. The way Arcee keeps her t-cog engaged whenever she drives Jack around, in case she has to transform with no warning. The way Bulkhead would lock his doors and prepare to engage his weapons every time a nearby human car exhaust port would go off.
Ratchet sees the way Optimus refuses to recharge without checking everyone's vitals on the console first. The way he could stay perfectly calm through a limb reattachment, but his servos would lock in place the second Ratchet did as much as a quick checkout on his chestplate.
Ratchet sees the way Optimus avoids reflecting surfaces. And when he can't avoid them, the way he never looks himself in the optics.
He wonders how come cybertronians don't have a word for it.
He sees the way his own hands, once again in private, would tremble after every single emergency repair he had to perform on any of the bots.
The way he would triple and quadruple check his medical supplies stock every week. Even when no repairs occurred.
Maybe they had a word for it once.
What's that thing humans say? Repeat a word too much, and it'll lose its meaning?
Maybe that's what happened.
After four million years of war, what's the point of keeping a word that applies to every single cybertronian?

What Happens When You Skip Servo Drive Maintenance?
Tumblr media
Servo drives are an integral part of any CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine, controlling the motors that drive the machine's movements. These drives are critical in ensuring the precise operation of a machine tool, allowing for highly accurate and efficient performance in various industrial settings. Regular maintenance is crucial for keeping servo drives in optimal condition, but what happens when that maintenance is neglected?
In this blog, we are exploring the consequences of skipping servo drive maintenance and why it's vital for businesses to invest in timely CNC repair services.
The Role of Servo Drives in CNC Machines
Servo drives are responsible for the regulation and control of motors within CNC machinery. These drives use feedback systems to control the position, speed, and torque of the machine's motors, allowing the CNC machine to execute intricate tasks with high precision. Whether it's cutting, milling, or turning, the servo drive ensures that the machine works smoothly, producing the desired results.
A well-maintained servo drive helps keep the CNC machine running efficiently, avoiding delays and ensuring productivity. However, when maintenance is overlooked, these drives can experience wear and tear, leading to a cascade of mechanical and electrical issues.
1. Reduced Performance and Accuracy
One of the first signs that a servo drive is malfunctioning due to lack of maintenance is a noticeable drop in the machine's performance. The CNC machine may become slower, struggle to maintain the correct position or produce inaccurate results. This is particularly problematic in industries that rely on precision, such as aerospace, automotive, and medical device manufacturing.
When a servo drive is not regularly maintained, components like the feedback encoders, resolvers, and motor windings can become degraded. This degradation affects the machine's ability to maintain the necessary speed and accuracy, leading to production errors and decreased overall efficiency. In extreme cases, this can result in the need for costly CNC repair services.
2. Increased Wear and Tear on Machine Parts
Servo drives are connected to multiple components within the CNC machine, such as motors, bearings, and gears. If these drives are not well-maintained, they can cause additional stress on the connected parts. For example, when the servo drive operates outside of its intended parameters, it can result in excessive wear on the machine's motors and mechanical systems.
This accelerated wear and tear not only shortens the lifespan of the components but also increases the frequency and cost of repairs. Unchecked servo drive problems can lead to a domino effect, causing damage to other parts of the machine. Regular maintenance, including monitoring and adjusting the drive's settings, can prevent these issues and extend the life of the entire CNC system.
2. Risk of Machine Breakdowns
A lack of routine maintenance increases the risk of unexpected machine breakdowns. Servo drives, much like any complex electronic system, are vulnerable to overheating, electrical faults, or lubrication issues. When these systems fail unexpectedly, they can bring production to a halt, causing significant downtime.
Machine breakdowns often result in costly repairs and lost revenue. In many cases, businesses may also face delayed project timelines and dissatisfied clients. Scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance allow technicians to identify potential issues before they cause complete failures, avoiding costly disruptions to business operations.
3. Energy Inefficiency
Servo drives are designed to be energy-efficient, which is especially important in industries where large volumes of machining are required. However, when servo drives are not properly maintained, they may consume more energy than necessary, leading to an increase in operational costs.
For example, a miscalibrated servo drive may cause the motors to run inefficiently, drawing more power than required for the job. Over time, this inefficiency adds up, contributing to higher energy bills. Regular maintenance, including cleaning, recalibrating, and adjusting the servo drives, ensures that the machine continues to operate at peak energy efficiency.
4. Poor Feedback and Communication
Servo drives work in tandem with feedback systems that provide data about the machine's position, speed, and performance. If the drive is not maintained, these feedback systems can malfunction, leading to errors in the data sent to the CNC controller. This can result in incorrect machine movements and, in some cases, even the complete failure of the machine to function properly.
By neglecting routine maintenance, businesses risk losing the ability to obtain accurate feedback, making it more difficult to detect problems early on. Without proper feedback, technicians are often left to troubleshoot issues without sufficient data, leading to longer downtime and higher repair costs.
5. The Cost of Delayed Mitsubishi Servo Drive Repair
Mitsubishi servo drives are some of the most commonly used systems in CNC machines. These high-performance drives are designed to provide reliable, precise control, but like all machines, they require maintenance to ensure they continue to operate optimally. Neglecting to perform routine checks and repairs on a Mitsubishi servo drive can result in a situation where the system fails catastrophically.
When issues are ignored for too long, they can cause more significant damage to the servo drive and related components, resulting in expensive repair bills. In some cases, the drive may need to be completely replaced if the damage is severe enough. Regular maintenance, however, can help detect potential issues early, allowing for Mitsubishi servo drive repair before a full-blown failure occurs.
6. Voiding Warranties and Service Agreements
Many manufacturers and service providers offer warranties and service agreements that cover repairs and replacements if the servo drive malfunctions within a certain period. However, these warranties often require the customer to adhere to regular maintenance schedules and follow specific operating procedures.
Skipping regular maintenance can void these warranties, leaving the business with no support should a problem arise. It's important to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for maintenance to ensure that warranties remain valid, ensuring that any necessary repairs or replacements are covered under the terms of the agreement.
7. Long-Term Financial Impact
The financial impact of skipping servo drive maintenance can extend far beyond the immediate cost of repairs. When machines operate inefficiently, they can result in lower product quality, increased production costs, and delays that affect customer satisfaction. In the long term, businesses may find themselves facing more frequent repairs, higher energy bills, and the potential need for expensive machine replacements.
Furthermore, neglecting maintenance can cause a ripple effect, as damaged components may lead to even greater issues down the road. Proactive maintenance ensures that issues are addressed promptly, minimizing disruptions to production and reducing the need for costly repairs.
Conclusion
Servo drives are essential components in CNC machines, and regular maintenance is key to ensuring their smooth operation. Failing to maintain these systems can result in reduced performance, increased wear and tear, breakdowns, and even higher operational costs. By investing in routine maintenance and utilizing expert CNC repair services, businesses can avoid the significant consequences of neglecting their servo drives. When problems do arise, timely Mitsubishi servo drive repair ensures that machines stay up and running, minimizing downtime and keeping operations on track. By keeping these systems well-maintained, businesses can improve machine efficiency, prolong the lifespan of their equipment, and ultimately protect their bottom line.

Hi, guys! Here’s my half of the art trade with @lockheed-martin-unofficial. It’s a drabble featuring TFP Ratchet and Concorde (OC)! It was so much fun to write!
Flight Repairs
Warnings: None
Word Count: 899
Tumblr media
Within the main room of the Autobot base, Concorde shifted his weight, feeling hugely out of place due to his size. True, it wasn’t his fault that he was twice the height of Optimus Prime, but he still didn’t feel quite comfortable inside the missile silo, especially around the other Autobots who often stumbled around him.
Who could blame him? Concorde meant well. He considered himself to be graceful with his movements, but accidents could still happen. He wanted to keep that in mind, at least.
The mech stood tall near the Autobot logo on the floor, observing Team Prime as they assembled as one, intending to engage in a widespread patrol for any Decepticon activity.
Once he spotted the leader walk by, he reached out a servo.
“Optimus Prime, may I join you?”
The Prime halted and turned, gazing upwards at Concorde with the same neutral expression as before. Although his blue optics were firm and steady, there was also a faint softness and understanding to them.
“Concorde,” he glanced over to the side, “I suggest that you instead stay with Ratchet for the time being and provide him with additional aid.”
Concorde followed his optics to the medic near the monitors and ground bridge controls. Ratchet met his gaze, but the two didn’t exchange a word. Feeling suddenly uneasy in his tail, he focused his attention back on Optimus Prime.
“Understood.”
The Autobot leader nodded and made his leave. Concorde stepped out of the way of the rest of the team, allowing them to depart through a ground bridge. Once the portal fizzled and faded, he found the courage inside him to lock optics with Ratchet once again.
He admired Ratchet, truly. As a skilled medic, he was a valuable and hardworking member of the team. But occasionally, Concorde felt the most out of place with him. He didn’t want to be a bother, after all.
“I…will be delighted to help you, Ratchet.” He gestured towards his equipment before slowly shying away. “But if desired, I can stay out of your way.”
Ratchet nodded, understanding.
“Yes, thank you, Concorde, but I have no need for any help at the moment.”
Concorde blinked, starting to drive himself in the opposite direction. However, before he could even step forward, Ratchet reached out a servo, almost touching him.
“Wait just a nanosec.”
Concorde tilted his helm at him, his canards flicking.
“You…mentioned chronic pain earlier?”
Inside the repair section of the Autobot base, Concorde relaxed on the tilted medical table. Because of his own size, it was a rather tight squeeze, but he made it functional for himself.
As Ratchet performed maintenance work on his shiny frame, the larger mech couldn’t help but think of someone he knew well, someone who he held close to his spark.
He vented, sighing and rumbling, causing Ratchet to hum.
“Something the matter?”
Concorde frowned, his canards drooping.
“I…I miss my pilot.”
Ratchet nodded, choosing to reassure him rather than dismiss him.
“You will see her again, no need to worry.”
Concorde gazed at him for a nanosec, cocking his helm to the side as the medic tinkered with his frame using various tools. As he worked, Ratchet began to mumble to himself, gradually increasing the volume of his voice.
“Had any recent dreams that could give us clues to your past?”
Concorde shook his helm, pouting.
“No. No, I have not.”
Not even the Autobots could help him recover the bits and pieces of his memory. Still, Concorde appreciated their kindness and hospitality, especially coming from Ratchet. Smiling, he turned to him.
“Thank you for clearing up the scratches in my paint.”
Due to damages and imperfections in his paint from battles and such, he received scratches, making it uncomfortable to fly. It was a relief for Ratchet to aid him as best as he could. And he did try his very best. Ratchet was a good doctor, and Concorde’s appreciation for him knew no bounds.
Ratchet’s blue optics flickered as he focused his attention on Concorde’s faceplate. His expression fell, and he cleared his vocalizer.
“I, er…”
He paused, tripping over his words as he stood straight.
“I must apologize to you, Concorde.”
The plane frowned.
“Why?”
He didn’t recall the medic doing anything wrong. As Ratchet regained himself, he caught the shimmer in his optics that seemed to be something akin to guilt.
“Once, I thought of you as a smug glitch who prioritized his looks above all else.” He lowered his helm, setting his tools to the side. “But I was wrong. This apology…I owe it to you.”
At first, Concorde didn’t know what to say, totally surprised. He didn’t think ill of him. He understood Ratchet’s struggles. And yet, he was apologizing to him? Because he previously thought of him as someone he wasn’t?
There was a sudden fire of warmth in his spark, signifying that he was touched to the core. Maybe Ratchet did enjoy his presence. Perhaps he really could fit in with the Autobot team. It would just take more time. Yes, that was it.
Slowly, he stood.
“Thank you, Ratchet.” He smiled. “I accept your apology, even though it was never required.”
He stepped forward, beginning to exit. However, before he did so, Ratchet called his name once again.
Concorde turned, his canards flicking.
“I could use your help sorting through my tools.”
Concorde smiled.

Robots in temporary bodies. You agree.
Their gorgeous humanoid chasis, packed full of the latest noctua servos and the Samsung sensor package, is sitting on a bench somewhere at the repair shop. The whole damn main bus got completely fried by that EMP they got off the exploding transformer (not the Optimus Prime kind), so it's going to be at least a week before it can get rebuilt.
So now they're in the body of some toy you had gotten for your birthday a couple years ago. They barely come up to your knees and their hands don't have thumbs. They keep complaining that they only have visual and audio sensors, so they feel half-blind (once you have radar you never get over losing it) and they're constantly worried about crushing anything they pick up. You get a phone call at 2am and have to go rescue them from the bathroom. They accidentally closed the door behind them and that's the one door in the apartment you haven't replaced, so it's big and heavy and made of thick wood. Their little hands couldn't reach the doorknob.
You ask why they were in the bathroom with a smile, and they explain they needed to clean off their treads because they spilled coffee creamer on the floor. These damn hands can't grab anything.
Their job offers them a loaner body but they decide to stay on medical leave for now. Body swaps are a big hassle and no fun to go through, so they don't want to do any more than absolutely necessary. Besides, they'd just barely be getting up to speed in the loaner body by the time they were ready to switch back out. Plus they know all the loaners are those budget model combat drones. They don't want to wear a body like that. I'm sure someone wants to look like "draw Arnold Schwarzenegger from memory", but it's sure as fuck not them.
They'd tried on one of those early in their career, and it's not just the dysphoria of looking so completely different from your mental image of yourself, it's also the change in how people treat you. Yeah, if you're a cop, maybe having people flinch when you walk in the room is a good thing, and maybe it's good that most people instinctively don't want to even try attack you. But they're not a cop, and even if they were, they couldn't handle looking like that during downtime. Maybe some people like making everyone in their life scared of them. Everyone from their partner to the guy handing them their coffee... But people who like that aren't the kind of people you want to be or hang out with.
Besides, metal and motors and servos has a distinct strength advantage over muscles anyway. If you want to be able to lift a car over your head with ease, you don't need to look like a bodybuilder to do it. So it's even more obvious that the only reason you would look like that is because you either really like that aesthetic, or you want to intimidate people. And you know they are in neither camp.
They ask to cuddle one night. They don't need to sleep and they don't have the sensors to enjoy it in this body, but they want it anyway. It's not about the sensor experience anyway, it's about the intimacy and the closeness. You put up with getting poked in the chest by their square edges, and if they their current form could cry, they'd be at serious risk of rusting.
You get it. You fortunately don't have to worry about how it'd feel to spend a week without your body, but you can't imagine it'd be fun.
A few days later, you wake up to the smell of maple syrup. You start to get out of bed when they burst in the room, wearing only a cute "fdisk the cook" apron. They've got pancakes and waffles and coffee for you! Breakfast in bed, to celebrate getting their body back.
While you're sitting in bed with them finishing up your breakfast, you ask what happened to the plan for you to drive them to the repair place, since their previous body couldn't exactly work the controls of your old car, even with the wireless link? They took a cab, they say. Their body's repairs finished up at 5am and they didn't want to wait around until you got up, they were just too excited.
You ask about their previous body, the temp one? Oh, there was a minor accident. See, they were still getting used to having all their main body's senses and strength back, so it accidentally fell of the trunk. At 15,000 feet. While doing Mach 1.3 over Arizona Bay.
They promise to buy you a new robot toy. Maybe one a little... More adult? It'd be just as annoying to be stuck inside when their main body is out for repairs, but at least they could have SOME fun with you while on medical leave. You're firm on the "no creepy sex dolls" front, though. FINE! but they want at least opposable thumbs for the next temp body. You make the obvious crude joke at why they need hands that can grip, and their cheeks go gallium-arsenide-red with embarrassment. You ask if they're having cooling problems again, their face feels warm. They push you over onto the bed, laughing and telling you not to tease them.
The maple syrup goes everywhere. Somewhere downstairs your laundrybot wakes up in annoyance, already annoyed at all the extra work they're going to have to do.

mertwins again!!
As far as Prowl's concerned, he's had a breakthrough. As far as management is concerned, he has violated multiple guidelines, health and safety rules, and has put his spark on the line one too many times. He is barred from entering the facility until he is fully repaired, which Prowl knows will take far too long. Those mers are suffering and now he knows why. But no one will listen to him
The cycle following his latest run in with the twins... well... their behaviour is even worse than before
Sideswipe, still struggling with the sedatives in his system, spends the time clutching the datapad and wailing. The staff have very little record of these sorts of cries from mers in general. They have never had evidence of the emotional capacity of mers, and certainly have not had one display what seems to be longing and grief. They do not know if he is crying or calling out for something
Sunstreaker looks like he's driving himself crazy in his tank. Before it was just aggression. Threats. But this is a panic. He darts back and forth in the tank, scratching at every surface, like he's looking for something, or looking for a way out. He even goes to the glass, where no one is currently, and bangs on it, as if trying to summon someone to him. Considering how little the mers, especially this one, have wanted to initiate any communication thus far, this is definitely fascinating to the staff
The twins dont know whats happening. Sideswipe's processor is sluggish and all he knows is that his brother is somewhere. That white and black land mech knows him. He needs to find that mech again. But he's so tired. His tail feels like its made of lead but he tries to swim up to the tank opening every so often, begging for any information on his brother to be there. He refuses to eat. He's too tired. He just. He wants to see Sunny again
Sunstreaker has never been one for worry. If he has a problem, he gets rid of it. He either beats it up until it leaves, or he rips it to shreds. This isn't a problem he can destroy. It feels like its eating his spark hollow. It's like a searing pain under his chestplate and yet he feels so empty at the same time. What are they doing to his brother. Why would that mech show that to him and then disappear. Where is he. Where is everyone. Where is Sideswipe. He curls up on himself as he holds his helm in his servos and screams. He's so useless. There's nothing he can do. He doesn't even know if his brother is alive
Prowl is basically locked out of the system. His physical access to the facility has been revoked and all his comm lines to them blocked. He's being forced to take medical leave and this is the only way they know he will take it
But he does have... friends. If anyone would even consider him a friend. Well. He knows them at least. Or. He knows him. He knows Jazz will help him if he asks. He knows Jazz loves the mers enough to risk it
Jazz is one of the more senior caretakers at the facility. He tends to have to work with Prowl quite a bit to coordinate the care of the mers. They don't always see optic to optic when it comes to how the care should be done, but they are... Friendly. At least Prowl thinks so. He doesn't want to assume, considering his Reputation amongst the staff. Not everyone likes to deal with Prowl.
Lucky for him, turns out Jazz is so down to hack Prowl into the comm lines for some reason. The idea that they get to sneak around and help the mers apparently is exactly what Jazz thinks is good fun. And he keeps jabbing at Prowl like heheh yeah ol Prowl finally doing something fun lets go
With updates from Jazz and his new comms line in, Prowl finds out that what he predicted was true- leaving the two mers after what he did that night has made things worse. Their health is declining rapidly and the staff clearly don't know what to do. Prowl had tried to tell them that the two mers needed to be put together but no one would listen. Well now look where that's gotten them
Jazz hacks them into the facility's database as well, allowing access to the logistics and resource management of the place. That's how the two of them plan to sneak in. It may just be an overspec'd aquarium in a way, but security is tight. Too many mechs out there want to get their servos on rare creatures like mers.
So they sneak in. They have very little time before security will be triggered because of what they are going to do. Prowl knows they have very little time for precaution and knows he is going to get hurt.
As far as they know, both mers are currently off sedatives. The mers' health had already deteriorated so far that the staff could not further risk it with the side effects of the drugs. They may be weak, but they have enough teeth and claws to still do damage to any mech who is within range
The two of them split up. Prowl rushes to the staff access to the tanks, stopping at the yellow mer's tank first. He needs its attention. He needs to know the mer is awake. He uses some stray equipment to disturb the water's surface again. Despite the mer supposedly being in a weakened state, the stick in the water is snapped up almost immediately. Prowl barely lets go in time as he is dragged and falls to the floor, watching the mer, just under the water's surface, grab the stick and break it in half with its jaws.
He scrambles to his peds just as the mer lunges, claws swiping out of the water, very nearly catching him.
"Wait!" he tries, knowing the creature probably doesn't understand him anyway. "Wait. Please." He once again pulls out a datapad with an image of the red mer, and the yellow one snarls and lunges again. This time it swipes so far that it reaches its entire torso out of the water. "Wait." Prowl tries to demonstrate to the creature that it needs to wait with his servos. "Wait." He points to the image again. "I am going to get him. Please. Wait."
Prowl tries to look as non-threatening as possible, doorwings held low, as he slowly places the datapad on the ground and backs away. He has this one's attention now. Now he has to move on.
He rushes across the facility to where he knows the red mer is being held. Jazz is already there, waiting for him with a small portable tank they can use for transporting assets.
Despite having been attacked by this one twice, Prowl calculated a lower chance of fatal injury from this one. He has at least had physical contact with it. Maybe it will trust him just enough to spare his spark.
It's a coordinated effort this time. He has Jazz disrupt the water's surface as he crouches and waits... There is only a nano-klik between seeing a shape in the water and glowing optics, and the angry creature lunging out at the disturbance.
Prowl is ready though. The moment the mer is out of the water, he grabs it by the arms. It snarls and struggles as he hauls it up, claws digging into his arms once again. He vaguely registers Jazz swearing behind him before the other mech is helping, dragging the mer out of the water and wrestling it into the transport tank.
The tank is barely large enough to fit the whole mer and Prowl has to climb on top of it to keep the struggling creature down.
"Go! Go now!" He shouts above angry snarling, before crying out in pain himself when the mer bites down into his servo, threatening to rip it off entirely. Jazz nods and breaks out into a sprint, pushing the transport tank back towards the yellow mer.
They have very little time. The tanks are equipped with sensors and will set off the alarms when their contained specimens are removed. They have to hurry.
Realistically, the journey back to the first tank is short- but to Prowl it is unending agony. He does his best to keep the mer from escaping the tank without also losing his servo, or maybe his entire arm at this rate. The water sloshing around him is tainted with his energon and all that seems to do is add to the creature's aggression
But they do make it just as the alarms go off. They make it to the edge of the yellow mer's tank and Prowl shouts at Jazz above the chaos to throw them both in. They both knew it's crazy- But Prowl is banking on his predictions. If he is right, the moment they hit the water he should be free-
Being tipped into the tank is a shock to his system. His frame struggles, intakes and vents filling with water and forcing his movements to slow. The red mer that still has its claws on him now clearly has the upper hand. His one functional optic is knocked offline as he is slammed against the wall by the mer, claws truly sinking into his plating now, tearing through delicate protoform.
Prowl hears- no- feels the snarl and roar of the creature's engine that has him cornered.
But then he hears a quiet chirp. The snarling stops and the pressure on his wounds lets up.
Prowl gasps in relief and slowly tries to cycle his optic back online. His vision flickers back on just in time to see the red mer slowly turn around to look at the source of the chirp.
Everything seems to stop as the two mers meet each others optics. The red one chirps back, quietly, hopefully.
Then the yellow mer suddenly darts forward, slamming into the red one. For a moment Prowl panics- Maybe he was wrong. Maybe he has made a fatal error. If they kill each other-
He is snapped out of it by another chirp. This one soft, barely audible, from the yellow mer, firmly grasping the other. The red one responds with what almost sounds like a laugh, but its tired and broken. Prowl finally feels the tension ease from his frame seeing the mers press their foreheads together
The energon loss and pain start to catch up on him then and he barely registers his friend who dives into the tank and pulls him out.
As Prowl is dragged to the surface, he's coughing and spluttering water out of his intakes as security and other staff rush about him, checking over him, trying to stop the bleeding, asking him if he's okay- But he doesn't quite hear any of it before he slips offline
YES, go, finally got around to this, jesus. yessss Prowl and Jazz teaming up to reunite Sunny and Sides is so good. Oh man, what wouldn't Prowl do just to show all the other staff members that he's right.
The staff panic. They have Prowl, who is bleeding out, Jazz, who is absolutely getting disciplinary action later, and the two mers who should not have been put in the same tank because Primus, did Prowl not see how aggressive they are? They'll tear each other to shreds in there!
I mean, that's what the thought. They did not think they'd find the two curled around one another in the corner of the tank. No one could see it through the glass, since they no longer seemed to have the desire to snarl and snap their teeth at anyone passing by... they had to send in a drone that would swim up to one of the nests. The two were the calmest the staff has ever seen them.
Prowl has absolutely broken protocol and probably can't be let into the facility again... Unless, some bleeding spark, perhaps Jazz, if he'd managed to keep his job, can let Prowl visit after hours, cameras turned off. With a cast around his arm, discharged from the hospital sooner than he probably should have been, Prowl gets to see what he's done with his own optics... The red and yellow mer have stopped clawing at the glass, have stopped their odd behaviour and while territorial displays remain, they no longer seem particularly interested in the land mechs watching them through the glass.
But it would be very sweet if they recognized Prowl... perhaps they don't have the full picture of what happened outside of their tanks, but they're... grateful. They think.
