Cassius: You can’t trust Seraphina, you need to stop thinking with your cock.
Lysander: *Scoffs* I assure you I am not thinking with my cock.
The Narrator: He was in fact, thinking with his cock.

My Lightbringer predictions
SPOILER WARNING — many, many spoilers for Dark Age and the rest of the series too, of course. Read forward at your own discretion.
Tumblr media
@pierce-brown feel free to let me know if I’m right.
Kalindora (the Love Knight) was poisoned by Atalantia
- I’m completely certain of this. When has Darrow EVER used poison on his blade? To put it simply, he doesn’t need it. Atalantia, on the other hand, wears an actual venomous snake around her neck at all times (and I do mean all). Plus, Darrow’s slingBlade was shattered during Lysander’s little jousting session immediately after Kalindora was allegedly mortally wounded. I don’t see Lysander slowly dying in agony from poisoned metal shards embedded in his arm.
- Atalantia has a lot to gain from Kalindora’s death — namely, Lysander au Lune’s name and allegiance, his renewed vigor for war, and the (frankly, disturbing) relationship she establishes with him. Plus, Kalindora was a competitor in terms of political sway in the society reminant.
Volga narration
- Her journey with the Ascomanni needs to be told by someone. Who better than by her?
- Also, following the… umm… “worthy” scene, we’re short a narrator. Eph watching his own heart be eaten was really dark, Pierce. It only makes sense for Volga to pick up his legacy.
Diomedes au Raa plays a significant role
- Diomedes represents Iron Golds of the Rim and is currently with the Society reminant, but we know he healed and freed Cassius (who appears to be working with the Republic). He walks a stiletto line between allegiances, and after the deaths of Romulus and Seraphina, he’s basically the heir to the Rim.
- He has a very strong brand of honor that fits well with the honor shown by Cassius. Diomedes saved Cassius before and led him back to the Republic, and I doubt their relationship has concluded with that.
- Diomedes is also very aware of how traitorous, and, well, messed up, the Core Golds of the Society are, and we already know that he’s hesitant to ally with them.
The Blues will rally around Darrow
- It was mentioned in Golden Son that there are blue training academies on Phobos, which is a moon of Mars. Darrow needs a fleet, desperately, and we all know he’s a master at shifting the paradigm. Also, the Republic still has Colloway, a hero to the blues, and the ace pilot has not yet performed his pièce de résistance.
- I very much doubt Colloway will survive the next book, unfortunately. I hope I’m wrong.
Pax vs Adrius 2.0
- Forshadowed by the Abomination hoping to have a “passage” by killing Pax. I feel confident, however, that Pax will own Adrius, although not kill him. I mean, half of the kid’s DNA is Reaper’s and half is Mustang’s. Come on now.
- Bonus points if Pax kills Lilath too. please
Lykos is destroyed
- By this point, everyone and their mother knows about Darrow’s big, wonderful, bleeding heart, and Society Golds are great at cutting straight for vital organs. Especially if Mars is the final planet protected by the Republic — I just can’t see Lykos township surviving Lightbringer if multiple armies siege the planet.
Lyria infiltrates the Jackal’s dominions on Luna or Tokyo
- As the new Figment, her abilities and their source are incredibly unclear. I think she would do well in a mission like this, and along the way, maybe she can somehow free Sevro and we can find out what exactly the Parasite is. Hopefully, Victra is part of this too.
Quicksilver’s allegiances have changed
- I don’t trust this man one bit. Why was he so comfortable when Virginia blew off the Silver voting bloc just before the Day of Red Doves? Where did the Rim get those new ships that travel so much faster than those of the Core? Honestly, the trillionaire may be funding the Society too. War profiteering is the name of the game for Quicksilver, and I wouldn’t be surprised if his original backing of the Sons of Ares and the Rising was more of a successful investment than a moral cause.
Virginia and Lysander speak
- Somehow, somewhere.
- Lysander most definitely blames Virginia for the deaths of his grandmother, Octavia, as well as Aja, and this must be addressed. Lysander once trusted her, when he was a child, and understands just how brilliant she is, so hearing her perspective could change everything for him.
- I think Virginia’s influence, combined with the revelation about Kalindora’s death at the hands of Atalantia, will be a step in turning Lysander to the side of the Rising. Lysander is incredibly intelligent and empathetic, so I don’t think he is entirely lost yet, despite his horrifying plunge into space racism and rather unfortunate spearing of Darrow. It will be a slow and perilous change, spread over the next two books, but I believe the last Lune will figure out where the light is eventually.
I look forward to finding out what I got right when Lightbringer drops this July!

Hi, I read your IG timeline and I must say your work is fantastic! You were very thorough, your timeline is amazing!
The only thing that left me a bit shocked is November 1. All of Lysander’s chapters unfold in one evening?? I thought at least a day passed between Romolus’ arrest and the dinner, and another between the dinner with Dido and the Duel. I might I have read it wrong, but didn’t Dido mention sometime before the dinner that many lords were still to arrive to Sungrave for the trial?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed my timeline! I'm really proud of all the work i've put into it, especially since I've spent the last few days updating each one to get all my notes as organized as possible before LB comes out.
As for Lysander's chapters, he indicates in chapter 32 that Dido took them straight to Sungrave after Romulus' arrest, and that they were given food on the flight. Then upon arrival they're given access to the baths to get cleaned up, and the opening of the next chapter has Lysander say that he's deposited in his room to change for the dinner. So that tells me that Romulus' arrest most likely took place in the morning, and the meal Lysander was given on the flight to Sungrave was lunch.
The only indication I can find of how much time passed between dinner and the duel are Lysander mentioning in chapter 40 that Cassius has shaved his beard by the time the duel begins, while the wounds from the gruesli that ate his flash mask are still fresh. And when Dido sends Seraphina into the ring, Lysander mentions that "I saw Dido notice the glances shared between us at dinner." If the duel were the morning after the dinner, I think that Lysander would've said "at dinner last night" or "last night" instead. Plus, given the intensity of their desire for his death, I think the Raa would've wanted to delay Cassius' duel as little as possible. So I feel like an hour or hour and a half is probably a reasonable enough time for Cassius get cleaned up while the Bleeding Place was prepared.
And then in chapter 55, Gaia au Raa tells Lysander "your friend died today," putting all of his post-duel, pre-trial chapters on the same day as the duel.

You know how Seraphina actually met Darrow and got to ask him questions as a child and she still ended up a war and glory-hungry bitch? Well, I expect Pierce to mirror that scene for Lysander by having him meet Pax on Mars in the same kind of way.
Lysander helped the Rising so that they could defeat Jackal - a bigger threat at the time. I severely doubt that Lysander would ever go beyond that. He never was and never will be the ultimate evil - please tell his stans to stop acting as though we consider him as such - but he'll never actually get over his genetical superiority and its importance.

Currently working on a post that got a little unwieldy. I’ll clean it up tomorrow. In the meantime, have some Iron Gold quotes I cut out of the post because they were beside the point but I think they’re interesting when you put them together:
Dancer: "So many have trusted you. For so many years. But you're in love with your own myth. You think that the Reaper knows better than the People." (93)
Seraphina quoting Romulus: "A man who believes his own myth is like a drunk thinking he can dance barefoot on a razor's edge." (316)
Sevro: "Well, slag me sideways. You really are drunk on your own myth, aren't you? I didn't buy it when Clown said it. But you believe them all. You think you're a god. You can't die." (491)
Darrow: "People think that I believe my own myth, that I'm a singular whirlwind of nature. I know I am not. I was the concentrated force of the people around me, balanced, hardened, inspired by Ragnar, Fitchner, Lorn, Eo. Sevro." (596 literally the last page)
Anyway. 💅☕

Just finished Dark Age
Overall I really liked it, although I think it had a slow start. Here are my main thoughts and feelings about it:
• Darrow made so many stupid decisions in part 1. Trusting Orion after all the trauma she’s been through? Using the storm gods? Feeling little to no remorse about all the civilian casualties? I can’t...🤦🏼‍♀️
• Kalindoria is one of my all time favorite golds. She was a sweetheart from the get go.
• “I find myself unusually embarrassed by my initial attraction to the vicious woman. But my attraction still persists.” 😑 stfu Lysander.
• I could tell Atlantia was creeping on Lysander right away. As soon as he said he felt “guilty excitement” from her lingering kiss I was like, uh oh.
• Seraphina’s sudden death was such a pleasant surprise. Bitch had to go!
• Lysander deciding to stay in the desert for the Praetorians is literally the only honorable thing he has done so far in this series.
• Dedicating all of part one to one battle was...a bad choice. The pacing was really slow and I hard time keeping track of everything that was happening.
• I feel really conflicted about Virginia’s POV. She’s never been a favorite of mine and seeing how cold and calculated her inner monologue is didn’t help. I can tell she truely wants what’s best for her people though, even if some of her actions are misguided.
• “Bravo, Sevro. Your wrath is SO legendary.”💙
• Virginia using the psychoSpikes to erase the Duke of Hands’ memory was terrifying and very morally grey. The Duke doesn’t deserve any sympathy, but I’m not comfortable with that kind of technology being in the universe. It could easily get in the wrong hands.
• Ephraim’s entire POV was such a gift. I loved his light humor, his unexpected friendship with Pax and how he grew so close to the Skuggi.
• Ephraim named his new ship Snowball!!! Brb, I’m crying! 😭
• I literally laughed out loud when Ephraim ran into battle high and armed only with a broom😂
• The Day Of Red Doves broke my heart. 💔 Virginia and Darrow definitely screwed up in leading a revolution and then letting so many of the low colors down after winning. She didn’t deserve to be beaten by a mob though.
• Volga and Lyria’s friendship was something I never knew I needed. Here’s to hoping it turns into something more in the next book. 🤞🏻
• Volga being such a precious baby with an unexpected dark streak is one of my favorite things about the sequel trilogy. I love her.
• Adrius is back? As a 10 yo clone??? SHOOK
• Virginia tricking her brother into taking the night lily was incredible.
• I’ve always found Victra irritating, but Ulysses being nailed to a tree was absolutely heartbreaking.
• After being kind of a meh character in Iron Gold, Lyria really pulled through in Dark Age! Almost singlehandedky taking down the Red Hand, saving a bunch of child brides and getting her revenge on Harmony was so fast paced and exciting to read. Her POV ended up being my favorite in this book.
• Rhonna and Alexandar’s nicknames being Pup One and Pup Two is so freaking adorable. OTP
• Ephraim finally admitting to himself how much Volga means to him was such a lovely moment!
• “She is my home. She has been since I found her on Echo City. What a pity I only just realized it.” Beautiful 💙
• Volsung killing Ephraim right after he was finally reunited with Volga was absolutely devistating.
• Darrow describing Lysander as having “latent sociopathic tendencies” gave me life. DRAG HIM!
• I’m so glad we got a chance to see Rhonna and Alexandar as a couple, if only for a chapter.
• Lysander calling Rhonna a “child warrior.” 😠 Shut up you pretentious piece of shit.
• ALEXANDAR!!!!! 💔😭
• Literally any hope I had for Lysander’s redemption died along with Alexander.
• “I would die for the truth that all men are created equal.” That’s the Darrow we know and love!!!
• “‘Reaper!’ He does not turn around. ‘Slave!’” HOW DARE HE?
• Cassius coming in clutch!!!
• “Oh gods. Brooding again? Some things never change.” How is it that Cassius has only one line in Dark Age and it’s easily the best line in the whole book. Iconic.
• Can we just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful Pierce Brown’s writing style is? “My true heart is laid bare, awash with exultation, clouded with confusion, pure with purpose.” Stunning 🙌🏻
• Volga cradling a dead Ephraim was easily the saddest part of this book. 😢
• I’m calling it, Lyria’s parasite is a prototype of The Mind’s Eye. Octavia screwed with Lysander’s brain so much as a child, I wouldn’t be surprised if she implanted a parasite too, without his knowledge.
• Lysander marrying his 34 yo aunt as a “political affair?” Disgusting. Can’t say I’m surprised though.
• I’m really sad about Kalindoria’s death. Even though she’s a lot older than him, I think she and Lysander would have been a sweet couple. And I think he would have been a better person for it too.
• Pretty sure Atlantia poisoned Kalindoria to speed up her death so no one would find a cure for her in time. She totally knew about Lysander’s love for the knight and couldn’t risk him marrying Kalindoria instead of her.
• “When she is done with me, I lie there staring at the ceiling feeling dead inside.” Oof. I still hate Lysander but I can’t help but feel pitty for him.
• Oh shit! I forgot about Adrius’ clone with everything else that’s been going on. 😳😂
• Teaming up with Apollonius? Lysander, you little shit!
5/5 stars for creativity and ingenuity. Dark Age is like nothing else I’ve ever read. I’m not even gonna bother trying to predict what’s going to happen in the next book because let’s be real, nothing Pierce Brown writes is ever predictable. I definitely can’t wait to find out though!

If you do connect her death to the way the Core Golds grinned, thinking that her impulsiveness can be easily manipulated in their favour, and to the way Atalantia insisted a Raa sibling participates in her Iron Rain, it makes a lot of sense. Not to mention that Seraphina was Chekhov's gun - she wasn't going to be fired soon, so Pierce destroyed it, instead. Many Society losses are under question, though. How many are actually the Rising's fault?
Seraphina au Raa
I was about to complain, but you know, it does make sense that Seraphina dies this way (at least for me). I see her as someone reckless and arrogant when it comes to a battle.
I don’t really like that she died so early in Dark Age, for me, she died way too soon. I expected to read a lot more about her.

Rules: Post the last line you wrote (from any WIP) and tag the same number of people as there are words. (Except I'm not tagging anyone bc effort.)
Turning onto her side, Seraphina scooches against him, tucking her chin. For a few moments, the pain subsides.

To be honest, Electra reminds me a little of Seraphina, she just grew up in the republic instead of the rim
I've been stewing thing for a while, but I can't really see it, expect for their swearing. Electra isn't one for glory like Sera. I guess they both swear a lot, but Electra is more gloomy and obnoxious in a very endearing way, while Sera is just...very snake like. She is also quite easy to manipulate - she is very much guided by her pride. Electra is very much loyal to family, while Sera would put hers in tough spots to fulfill her ends.
I don't think Seraphina and Electra are two sides of the same coin, but I'll give you that their hardness is a thing they have in common.
Howl on!

I forgot to ask you. Did you read the Iron Gold excerpt that came with Pierce Brown's newsletter? I did several months ago and it made me even more excited for it. 😃 Mainly because I have soft spot for Cassius and also because I liked the way Lysander was portrayed.
Well, I think I am the only one who doesn't really have a soft spot for Cassius (his looks or humour do not really impress me, but I do appreciate him and did not want him to die or shit like that. But he totally deserved that arrow in his neck for abandoning Darrow to Adrius on Attica, in my opinion.)But to answear your question, yes I did read the special excrept. It felt a bit weird to me until I realised Lysander was the narrator. I was and still am in love with Darrow's way of thinking. Lysander is no Darrow, tho. But from what I gathered I feel like we will go through a storm with this character. Lysander does not agree with the old ways, but he doesn't feel like The Solar Republic is for him either. There is this sense of not belonging and this need for love and attention coming from him. I also speculate Seraphina au Raa might become a villan or an ally...I wonder tho, how does Darrow and Mustang hold their many enemies at bay? There are Obsidian pirates, Magnus au Grimmus on Venus and Mercury, Romulus au Raa in the Rim. Everyone is waiting for an opportunity to strike for a reason or another...The fact that the galaxy is devided might be problematic for my babies...I really can't wait for Iron Gold, but i do not want my precious babies to suffer...you see my dilemma?
