Light Bringer Preview Available
So at least one online book retailer has made the first 7 chapters (or at least first 6 and half of chapter 7) of Light Bringer as a preview, and I have already hungrily devoured it, and in the process have found new information for my pre-LB timeline notes, so I’ll be adding some of those tidbits today. For those in the fandom who rely on my notes, this is your first of many warnings that my notes as we get close to the release date are going to start containing spoilers.

My less popular opinion (and what I believe to be implied by the art in Lost Days) is that rather than waking up in a fully grown body Jason didn’t actually complete his puberty until after his Lazarus pit dip while he was on his murder tour. Imagine you’re tied up in a basement in Berlin getting interrogated by a teenager and his voice is cracking the entire time and if you laugh he’s going to shoot you
#Late puberty Jason truthers rise#Egon calling up Talia like ‘did you send me a middle schooler what is this’. ‘He’s technically high school aged actually’#he would’ve been like 18 when he finally regained consciousness but the way he’s drawn could easily be mistaken for 15#I know people love the body dysmorphia angst of Jason waking up big but I offer you this: Jason wakes up looking basically the same to a#world that has moved on without him and is unrecognizable. His death/injuries stunted him he existed for years in a state of suspension#while the world passed him by. He was on pause while everyone kept moving on and he didn’t get unpaused until the Lazarus pit and he has#to scramble to catch up. He’s actually 18 but the last thing he remembers is being 15 and his body reflects this state#and then once his mind is finally back online puberty hits him like a truck. Just look at the difference between how Jason is drawn#immediately after his dip in the Lazarus pit vs the end of lost days when his training arc is over#It implies it could’ve been multiple years but in order to fit with the timeline of other comics I personally don’t think it#would’ve been that long. I think he just sprouted up like a weed#Jason Todd#dc#I think Jason is technically still growing by the time he’s red hood. In my personal mindscape he doesn’t reach his peak buffness/height#he’s like 21 and he’s 19 in utrh#Sorry for my 1538283th post about red hood lost days I’m obsessed with his little fucked up coming of age story#Red hood lost days

Beach Day
Chad agreed to help Audrey babysit the girls…obviously they have very different ideas about what that looks like XD
In the alternate timeline Chloe and Chad actually have a close relationship so she loves playing with her brother and is having the time of her life 🤍 Audrey’s happy to hold Red while she crashes from being in the sun too long lol. You know Auds mom’ed this entire trip and packed the best lunch for them later.
(I also just love this meme and think it’s funny)

‼️descendants rise of red spoilers‼️
DO YOU THINK THAT THE REASON BRIDGET IS MAD AT ELLA AND HASNT SPOKEN TO HER IN YEARS WHEN THEYRE ADULTS IS BECAUSE WHEN THEY WERE AT THE DANCE ELLA LEFT BRIDGET ALONE TO GO DANCE WITH CHARMING AND THATS WHEN ULIANA PRANKED BRIDGET BECAUSE ELLA WASNT THERE TO PROTECT HER AND BRIDGET WAS ALONE AND AFRAID AND PROBABLY THOUGHT ELLA LEFT HER ON PURPOSE AND WAS IN ON THE PRANK AND BLAMED HER FOR WHAT HAPPENED AND THATS WHY ELLA DOESNT WANT TO TELL CHLOE ABOUT IT BECAUSE SHE FEELS GUILTY ABOUT IT

Descendants: Blue Blood and Butterflies
As Red and her mother danced together and celebrate, Chloe sought out her own mother. Her heart was about to burst in the best way possible, and she wanted to share this with her own mother, but try as she might, she couldn't find her. The blue-haired crossed the courtyard, between the dancing bodies of the attendants, looking around but Cinderella was nowhere to be found. Her smile slowly dropped, as a cold feeling twisted in her stomach.
"Excuse me." She called a smiling Uma, who promptly directed her attention to her. "Have you seen my mom?"
The sea witch looked confused for a second. "You'll have to be more specific, child. Who's your mom?"
Chloe blinked. "Hum... Cinderella."
Uma frowned. "Who?"
The cold in Chloe's stomach spread across her entire body like ice in her veins.
She awkwardly apologized to Uma and turned around to leave. Her legs felt like noodles, her fingers were stiff. No, this couldn't be happening. Just because Uma didn't know who Cinderella was, it didn't mean anything, right? The new principal couldn't possibly know every parent, right? Even if she was the Queen of Cinderellasburg... Right?
Her heart was going miles per hours, her eyes hopped around the courtyard frantically. The mass of bodies blurred and merged together, moving in a nauseating pace. Everything was spinning. She needed to sit down. And then her eyes landed on a family head of bright red hair.
Red.
Red!
She needed to find Red. Red would help her.
Forcing her legs to move, she found her friend dancing with the Queen of Hearts, the picture of happiness. The Queen looked at her daughter with so much love and pride, you could see it pouring out of her, like her own mother often looked at Chloe. And Red... Red was soaking it in, like rain in the desert, with a grin splitting her cheeks and little glints at the corner of her eyes. It seemed something out of another reality, seeing her friend so genuinely happy for once, opposed to the forced smugness and sarcastic laughs she usually displayed.
Chloe almost changd her mind. Red deserved this. She had waited and suffered all her life, wishing for her mother's love. It pained Chloe to no end, to be the one to end that blissful moment. But this was important. She stumbled forward, tripping on her own boot, the boot Red had given her, but before she hit the ground, an arm caught her just in time.
"Woah there princess." Said her friend, her voice tinged with excitement. "Maybe you shouldn't walk around with that pointy stick of yours, if you're this clumsy."
Under normal circumstances, Chloe would roll her eyes, maybe even chuckle at the provocation, but right now, she could only look into Red's eyes, search in them for some sort of reassurance. Red's grin disappeared when she saw the state of shear panic the blue haired was in. "What's wrong Chloe? What happened?"
"My mom..." She started, but her voiced cracked and she felt tears glassing over her eyes.
"Oh goodness!" The Queen of Hearts -Bridget- fussed over the scared girl. "What's wrong dear? Do you need help?"
Chloe turned to the Queen. They had changed the timeline, so if someone here knew her mother, it would be Bridget. She could help.
"Have you seen my mom?" Chloe asked, almost begged, looking at Bridget, whose confused gaze alternated between her own daughter and the blue-haired.
"Oh gosh. I'm sorry, my dear, but..." Bridget's ever present smile faltered. "I don't think I know who your mother is."
Red's hand squeezed Chloe's sholder, and Chloe didn't need to look to know that the Wonderlandian princess's expression matched her own.
"But if you're lost, maybe we can help!" Bridget perked up again.
This was... At the very least, off-putting. The woman in front of them had staged a violent coup and sentenced her mother to death, but at the same time, she was a complete different person. Chloe could see, although she had grown up, the same girl with pink hair and plate of cupcakes who wanted to be friends with everyone.
"Red, darling, you look as if you've seen a ghost! Are you alright? Is it the nerves?"
Red blinked, coming out of her shock.
"Mom, you know her." Red stated, pointing at Chloe for emphasis. "She's Cinderella's daughter."
Bridget frowned. Her previous cheerfulness was blown out like a candle by a sudden gush of wind. "How do you know that name? I never use that name."
The three remained in silence for what felt like an eternity. The party going on around them, but all they could listen to was the rapid beating of their own hearts.
"Come with me, girls." Bridget reached for Red's hand, but the girl flinched automatically. It was an instinct. She had only ever felt pain from her mother touch. But this wasn't the ruthless Queen of Hearts, the tyrant ruler of Wonderland. This was sweet Bridget. Red had to remind herself that, and breathe in deeply to stop her trembling. If Bridget noticed her daughter's hesitance, she didn't show it.
The Queen guided the two teenagers outside and into the garden, where they could talk without all the party noise. When Chloe could barely take a step without losing her balance, Red slid her arm around her waist and half carried her. The blue haired thanked her in silence, gravitating closer to her friend for support, or safety, or both.
"Alright." Said Bridget once they were outside. " 'Cinderella' is a nickname given to my best friend Ella by her mean stepsisters back when we were in highschool. It was cruel name, I'm sure I never used it, and I haven't seen Ella in years. How do you know of it, Red?"
Red and Chloe shared a look.
"Since when haven't you seen Cinder-... I mean, Ella?" Asked Red.
"Well, since I became Queen." Bridget explained. "I was much too busy to visit, and Ella's family never allowed her to leave. We wrote letters to each other for a while but, eventually we stopped. Or she stopped."
Chloe felt sick. She sat on the floor before her legs could give out. Ella's family. Ella's horrible family. No. She got away from them when she met Chloe's father. They met at castlecoming. But if Ella was still with her family when Bridget became queen... That meant...
Her were transfixed on a particularly sharp-looking pebble on the floor. Her hand unconsciously reached and found cold fingertips, a hand clad in leather. Red's hand squeezed back and Chloe felt the ground stop spinning a little bit.
"Mom..." The Wonderlandian spoke, because Chloe couldn't bring herself to. "Did... Did Ella go with you... To castlecoming, when you were in highschool?"
"Why are you asking this now, my darling? What's wrong?" Bridget was becoming visibly more and more worried. She picked at her fingernails, "Is everything ok? You girls look pale, maybe I should get a doctor."
"Mom, just answer the question, please."
Bridget tried to reach for her daughter, but Red swatted her hand away, placing herself in front of Chloe's small form.
"Red, you don't look too good, I'm worried-"
"Just tell me, dammit!"
Whatever words Bridget was about to say died down on her tongue. Red regretted yelling as soon as she herself because she knew what would come next. Her mother would never allow this kind of behavior. She pictured it in her mind, the Queen's quick burning fury, her hand raising. Red's cheek stung in anticipation and she closed her eyes, waiting for a hit... That never came.
Instead, the Queen's hand laid gently on her own chest, deflated. Hurt, even. Because of course, her mother wouldn't have hesitate in teaching her a lesson with physical force, but this wasn't her mother, was she? No, this was still Bridget, and Bridget would never hurt a fly.
"I, hum..." The Queen cleared her throat, and Red felt bad.
"I'm sorry mom, I shouldn't-"
"Oh no, no. It's alright. It's quite alright." The woman blinked a few times. "To answer your question, no. Ella wasn't at castlecoming." The pit in Chloe's stomach opened a hole on the floor, and she could feel herself getting dragged down. "A classmate of ours broke a vase at her house, so her stepmother grounded her and she couldn't go."
"Oh no." Chloe muttered.
It finally clicked. The pieces finally fell in place, and once they did, Red casted a horrified glance back at Chloe.
Maddox had warned her that messing with the fabric of time could have unforeseen consequences, but this... This couldn't be happening, not with Chloe, not over a stupid vase! A vase that had costed Ella her fairytale happily ever after. Because if Ella hadn't been at castlecoming, she hadn't fallen in love with Prince Charming, hadn't been saved from her abusive step mother, hadn't become Queen, and most important of all, hadn't had Chloe.
Chloe didn't exist.
"What have we done?"

Heya! So this is just a little idea that popped into my head. Don't know if I'll keep writing it, but if I do, I'll let you know. Thank you for making it this far, you're awesome ^^
Also, the title is just the first thing I came up with. If I keep writing this, it will probably be changed.

i go into the rise of red tag and literally every other post is about young captain hook... fandom's ability to make a movie with so many female characters/characters of colour all about the marginally attractive white boy side character never ceases to amaze me

It’s simple. Chapter 1 establishes that the Siege of Mercury has been going on for two years by the fall of 753 PCE, and that it’s been a year since Darrow had seen his wife and kid. Which means that the Republic soldiers didn’t spend the entire two years of the siege aboard the fleet on Mercury, and that they did get a chance to come back to Luna periodically, whether to resupply or give the  soldiers who had been there the longest a chance to rest while fresh troops maintained the siege. Victra’s pregnancy just means that Darrow and Sevro didn’t always get to take their visits to Luna at the same time.
just wondering... darrow and co. returns to luna after one year of war over mercury then how tf is victra already halfway into pregnancy...?
(im honestly really curious)

Chaosbringer & Peacemaker
Gotta draw Red to match Chloe, naturally. The red to her blue, the chaos to her peace. I just like how this style looks; big chunky lines and bold color suit these girlies well 🩵🤍

time travel shenanigans again
Rise of Red is driving me SLIGHTLY crazy with the time travel retcon, but in a way that’s making me want to write about how the timeline shifts COULD have worked. loosely inspired by this post.
"I don't know what that's like," Bridget says. Her expression, which Red is just starting to understand as perpetually stuck in a sweet, bright smile, falls blank for a moment. "I love my mom. It must be awful, not having someone who really loves you. If you were my daughter, I'd think you're the coolest daughter ever."
Oh, if you only knew.
"Thanks." Red manages, around the lump that shouldn't be in her throat. Bridget isn't her mom yet, not really. There's nothing for her to get upset over. "That's sweet of you."
"And speaking of sweet," Chloe jumps in, giving Red's hand a little squeeze. Oh, please. Like the perfect princess knows anything about having a tyrant as a mother. "We're looking for a cookbook. Your cupcakes were amazing, so we thought maybe you'd have what we're looking for."
Bridget beams. "Of course! I have almost every cookbook ever. Except like, the super illegal ones. I don't have those. Did you want to make something special?"
"Just a little magical baking. I think the recipe we need is in the sourcer's spellbook?"
Bridget's face falls again. "That one's illegal. I might be breaking the Wonderland laws that you remember, Red, but I don't break international law. At least not while I'm at school."
"But you'd break them out of school," Red drawls. If they can't get the cookbook they need, they can at least pump Bridget for information about herself. Half of her pranks back home only worked because she was able to get classified information from Maddox, or Isaac and the other guards, or swipe it from her mother's writing desk before she noticed a letter had even arrived. "That's pretty cool."
Bridget giggles. "Well, I wouldn't say that. I...."
She stops.
"You?" Chloe prompts.
Bridget doesn't move. Doesn't even blink.
"Bridget? Hello?"
"She's breathing." Red says. It's all she's doing. Just standing there, completely frozen, breathing. She's not even smiling. Her face is just....blank.
Chloe steps close enough to wave her hand an inch from Red's mom's nose. "Hello? Can you hear me?"
Red sidesteps around her princess sidekick to slip the back of cards out of Bridget's pajama pocket. It's not the same pack that she's seen her mom use in their timeline, but disarming her future mom makes her feel a little better. "She's broken, princess. We froze her."
"People don't just freeze. That's not how human bodies work, even if we are in the past. My mom never mentioned freezing up like this."
"I bet your mom never mentioned knowing my mom either." Red shoots back. "Or Merlin Academy, or how gross that Alchemy class was."
"My mom," Chloe starts, and then stops. Just like Bridget.
"Princess?"
"My mom never mentioned attending Merlin Academy." Chloe says, bursting into motion again. "She only mentioned it once, and that wasn't until we were in the carriage on our way to school, a few hours ago."
"Or twenty years in the future." Red reminds her.
Chloe spins around, her hair flying out in a fluffy blue halo around her head. Her empty sword belt swings with the rhythm of her pacing. "More like thirty-five. Maybe more. I have an older brother, and my parents didn't have him until they were already  married for like, ten years. So we don't know exactly how far back we are, and my mom never talked about attending school until we were already in the carriage. And more importantly, you were in your carriage."
"So what?"
"So I think we started changing the flow of time the minute your mom let you leave Wonderland. I mean, think about it. The timing makes sense."
Red considers the facts.
Her mom never mentioned attending school - check. But her mom hardly mentions anything to her aside from how inadequate she is, so that's off their evidence list. Bridget is acting really weird - sure. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything, because Red's mom is really weird. Whatever statue Bridget's become, it could just be her brain rebooting to be even more evil. Or maybe she started rewriting time from the moment she grabbed the pocketwatch, and everything that's happened since then really is all her fault, and her mom would never have turned evil in the first place if Red hadn't gone back in time to try and fix her.
Or maybe time travel logic is bullshit, and they're doing the right thing.
"Whatever." Red declares. "We can think about it after we search this place for secret evil cookbooks."

haha all good. I still wonder about stretch marks and such though? Wouldn’t Mustang having new stretch marks on her belly where she previously had none, be a potential giveaway about her pregnancy to Darrow?
Though it does seem very likely that as a young healthy gold that heals quickly and has Augustus DNA, she just didn’t have stretch marks 6-8 weeks after birth (just think about all the major wounds her and other golds have suffered that had no long term effects on their body).
Side Note: The Duke of Hands comment about Virginia’s body showing residual signs of childbirth could have been 100% lies. He knows she had a baby because, well duh, he kidnapped said baby. So he was probably just trying to mess with her (unsuccessfully), as he was with all his other comments about her in that same scene.
I like your insights.
So we know that Pax’s existence was a shock to Darrow once they finally met (seeing as Pax was kept secret). We also know that Pax was most likely conceived near the end of Golden Son, and that he was born roughly a few months before the beginning of Morning Star. Right?
Which means that during Morning Star (after the holo-message from Adrius) when Darrow and Virginia get down and fuck: she should look like she’s recently given birth, yes? And growing up a red with a big family in a crowded household, Darrow would probably have a decent idea what a woman looks like after giving birth?
Which could mean a few things. Either Virginia got cosmetic procedures after her birth to cover up any evidence that she’d recently had a child (which is a very Virginia thing to do. Except we know she didn’t do that, because in Dark Age the Duke of Hands says some shit about how her body shows lingering signs of childbirth. Of course he could have been lying, and he had good reason to be when he said that).
The other possibility, is that Darrow simply did not notice. He was just happy to have her. Or, at some point during the sexy times, he subconsciously decided that he simply would not look, ask or prob. Not the time. Not his place.
Or the books are just written by a man idk.
