i just spent the last two and a half days painting a new mural/selfie wall for a local comedy club (to cover an old mural painted in the 90s that didn’t really hold up to uh… “modern standards”) that i FUCKED UP at the very end of the second day and had to come in for a third day to salvage it but it turned out real good i think. anyway enjoy! or don’t! life is meaningless!

i love thinking that gotham treats the bats like a sports team in terms of pride (either bc their actual sports teams don't do well or some other reason)

people have banners outside their windows of the bat symbol, schools have a "wear merch of your favorite bat" spirit days, there's graffiti portraits of the different bats and some of them take selfies with the murals of themselves, kids get "the robin haircut" and the name "robin" is higher on gotham name rankings than in other cities, people put bat emojis in their instagram and twitter bios next to "gotham" or their location, there's constant not super serious debates over who the best bats are, everytime a new or "new" bat appears there's a ton of excitement and conspiracies on twitter

came across an interview of leah talking about this awkward encounter she had with a fan.

“You’re actually off the market now, yeah?”

“I am. I’ve got myself a girlfriend. Finally.” Leah laughs awkwardly.

“First of all, congratulations!”

“Thank you.”

“Second, how did this love story come about? How did you first meet.”

“It was quite funny actually.”

Leah was back home in her hometown, walking around to places she’s been to since she was little. Many people have already asked for picture with her, which she happily accepted.

On her walk, she comes across her mural that was painted in honor of her. There was only one other person there with her, standing in front of the wall.

She had a camera, a professional looking camera in the hood of her hand, snapping pictures of her surroundings, as Leah observed. The woman was now holding her phone out in what appears to be taking a selfie. Thinking she was a fan, she walks towards the woman, put her arm around her, smiling and holding out a peace sign.

You slowly put your camera down, turning to face her, staring at the woman in confusion.

“What are you doing?” You asked her.

“Uh- we- picture?” Leah stuttered. “I’ll let you have one on your own.” She steps away from you, lips forming a straight line.

“Thanks.”

“Yeah, I totally misread the situation.”

“You just put your arm around a complete stranger, with a smile on your face?”

“She was standing in front of my mural. How was I supposed to know she didn’t care much about the person painted on it?”

“What happened after then?”

“She actually took my picture, which then she realized who I was. Not really who I am, just that I shared the same face as the wall.”

“Not a football fan then?”

“Not at all. Knew nothing about football or sports in general.”

“Funny story to tell then.”

“Yeah, and embarrass myself every time.”

my submission for @dnptarot, long explanation under the cut!

comparison with the original/most common design for the 'ten of pentacles' card [example on the left]:

so bc the card centres around accomplishments and a sense of permanency, i rlly wanted to include the phouse somehow - especially the selfie they took when everything in the living room was already set up and they were no longer #boxboys

and in the 'original' tarot card design, the foreground in front of the archway includes a wealthy old man who's accomplishments provided financial security to his family + future generations, and there are family emblems and flags on the wall

so for my card, instead of showing literal generational wealth, the foreground is used to pay homage to a bunch of their old projects/accomplishments - like their tours, awards, radio show, etc. so i like to think of it as past!dnp setting the way for current!dnp to live comfortably and 'everything working out in the end'

and the 'original' card having two dogs was the Perfect reason to include a shiba inu and corgi. and i also had to include the golden pig, seal, and lion and lioness, cause they're literally part of the phamily

and the 'original' card also includes grapevines and moons as symbols, so i incorporated the grapevines on the walls and their clothes. and the moons are incorporated in the moon-inspired rug (which is also a throwback to dan's moon rug which looked dif), and in the pentacle design where each pentacle is a dif moon phase

and the pride over their accomplishments also being represented by them wearing their own merch - dan in the wad merch, and phil in the glitch hoodie. and the green pants were originally inspired by their dapg pyjamas, but i incorporated the grapes instead

and current!dnp being in the background means that i like to think of it as their 'journey' not being over yet. like there are still projects in the works, represented by the tablet/notebook on the sofa and phil's glitch merch originally saying 'to be continued'

and some extra details that are less obvious:

the blue box on the sofa represents the box from the tatinof/tabinof reveal trailer, as another way to represent dnp's relationship with their audience and how their legacy will continue to live on

in the wall mural, i wanted to incorporate truth bombs somehow, so i used ba-bomb (which they have a plushie/statue of in their gaming channel room) with a lil "T" on top. in the same panel, all the lil lines is meant to represent danandphilbeats cause the lines are based on the spotify code for their artist page

i wanted to incorporate their japan trips somehow, so instead of doing the bamboo painting (cause. i couldn't figure out how to draw it sdjfs), i did a pair of koi fish instead. and idk if this goes against standard tarot rules, but since the meaning of the tarot card is different when the card is pulled upside-down, the koi fish will still be upright regardless. so bc koi fish can represent good luck, perseverance, and balance, i like to think of it as a hopeful sign even when the card is upside-down <3

What's their lock screen?

Mal - okay she deserves her own art or a a street art mural she's currently obsessed with. I'm not taking criticism.

Jay - hmm, I'd say a team photo after a big tourney victory. Not the staged one, a wild celebration one that Mal took.

Evie - some celebrity. But cropped out so there's only the dress. She fundamentally doesn't care about that person. ...bonus points if it's Mal wearing one of her creations. Also cropped.

Carlos - look, just doesn't care. It's whatever Mal or Jay did while messing with his phone.

Ben - ...I don't think he has time to care. He has had the same one since he was fourteen, and Audrey chose that one.

Audrey - Aesthetic collages or art that she paid to have custom-made. As she deserves.

Chad - a selfie. Criticism NOT accepted.

Jane - oh, tough one. Maybe whatever's her current obsession. Also, she seems like she'd find having people she cares about as lock screen mortifyingly awkward.

Uma - sea ponnies. Obviously.

Harry - Uma, also obviously. The photos vary. CJ changed the lock screen to something one (1) time. Tough time for everyone in about five mile radius.

Gil - I think he just lets his friends and the kids that hang around the crew do whatever. Harry sets it to his selfies and/or embarassing photos of Gil pretty regularly to mess with him, but Gil doesn't mind.

Harriet - a photo of her ship. Gods help you if you try to fuck with it.

Sammy - also a photo of the ship. Though the twins or Marya change it to photos of various critters they found. Sammy wouldn't say they're thrilled by that, but they won't forbid it.

Ginny - an in-the-moment photo of her partners. They despise the photo, but she adores it. Changed it to Maddy's photo one (1) time, very quickly took it down under the threats of painful death and forced withdrawal.

Anthony - I feel like he's being Basic and just choose one of the offered ones. Or actually, a photo that's mostly just pitch black. He won't change it. No matter how Ginny whines.

Dulcia - a photo of herself posing in front of a mirror, phone over her face. Maybe her sisters are with her. They're forbiden to fuck with her phone.

Dizzy - ... it's fanart. She deserves that.

Celia - tarot card art.

Freddie - either same as Celia (y'know to freak out people), or poster of jazz singer she likes, OR mildly disturbing photo CJ put there.

CJ - mildly to extremely disturbing phitos of shit she shouldn't have photos of. Freddie is enabling it.

Claudine - picture of saint she likes. Well, for about four hours until Ivy gets hold of her phone and changes it to her selfie or occasionally a contemporary art piece she likes.

Ivy - changes. Like, all the time. Selfies, cropped fashion pictures, aet collages, stolen art, drunk photos with her friends and/or enemies (not mutually exclusive). (Also, I need you to imagine a photo drunk Ivy and Harry would take.)

Diego - an extremely shitty photo of Bad Apples concert taken by Ginny. He refuses to change it, no matter how much his cousins talk.
