Overcoming Self-Doubt: Building Confidence and Self-Esteem | Personal business coach houston
Self-doubt can be a formidable barrier to personal growth and happiness. Itâs that nagging voice in our heads that questions our abilities and worth. However, with the right mindset and strategies, itâs possible to overcome self-doubt and cultivate confidence and self-esteem.
Challenge Negative Thoughts
Start by becoming aware of negative self-talk. When self-doubt creeps in, challenge those thoughts with evidence of your past successes and capabilities. Replace self-criticism with self-compassion and positive affirmations.
Set Realistic Goals
Break larger goals into smaller, achievable steps. Celebrate your progress along the way, no matter how small. Each accomplishment boosts confidence and reinforces belief in your abilities.
Focus on Strengths
Identify your strengths and talents. Leverage these strengths in areas where you feel confident, and use them as a foundation to tackle challenges and learn new skills.
Embrace Failure as Growth
Shift your perspective on failure. Instead of viewing it as a reflection of your worth, see it as an opportunity to learn and grow. Embrace setbacks as stepping stones toward success.
Surround Yourself with Support
Seek encouragement and support from friends, family, or a mentor. Surrounding yourself with positive influences who believe in you can bolster your confidence and help silence self-doubt.
Practice Self-Care
Take care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Engage in activities that nourish your body and mind, such as exercise, mindfulness, hobbies, and quality time with loved ones.
Visualize Success
Use visualization techniques to imagine yourself succeeding and achieving your goals. Visualizing positive outcomes can boost confidence and motivate action.

i can see doyoung is not the gifted type when it comes to his singing skills, acting, dancing or visuals which should be a disadvantage in his career but heâs definitely smart and hardworking. He surprised us so many times, in so many areas. When it comes to singing, in korea, even in his own company, there are so many outstanding singers who are called genius. Changmin, baekhyun, taeyeon, d.o., taeil, winter, ningning. These people theyâre really good. They are naturally good even before training, even during rookie era. I still think doyoungâs singing is very subpar compared to them. He started with just a little above average or maybe average and has continued to improve over time. The live singing that we got so far for his solo are just okay. Iâm not sure if itâs the mixing but the volume of his voice sounds very low for every live performances? I donât think he can sustain singing very difficult songs for a long time. Since he wants to sing live a lot, why donât he change his strategy? Choose songs that suits his range and tone better. You can still be a successful and unforgettable singer that way. I donât know what it is with Koreans and high notes but it is definitely not the only way to have good songs. Donât you think itâs better to have something that show off your true color. That people would definitely say, âOh this is just like Doyoungâ. I think the album probably only have 1 or 2 songs that fit him, the others are good but somehow doesnât sound like doyoung.
According to different people from different countries who analyse vocalists, Doyoung is stronger than Changmin, Winter and NingNing, maybe Taeyeon as well, I don't think she is placed high in rankings, he is very close to Taeil, so no need to downplay him. My point was that he is no wonder like Whitney Houston and is not as strong as the best among idols like Kyuhyun or Chen, he is a pretty good vocalist, but not a born exception. He is worthy of praise, but not overpraise. He has room to grow.
I've heard from one coach that loudness of singing is not a value on itself, microphones and acoustics of halls work as amplifiers. Doyoung sang in a musical with a mic on his forehead, which is a sign of loud enough voice. So he can project, the thing is that he usually doesn't due to style.
In live singing he sounds metallic sometimes to me, but I need an opinion of a pro on that, whether it's a sign of mistakes in technique or simply the tone. Because it is well known that a perfectly professional voice can sound not very pleasant, it's a matter of taste.
Personally, I think all songs on the album suit his voice, none downplay it. Being a chameleon is his forte. He can sing in a lot of genres and styles, I agree with him on that. I do think some songs are more "Doyoung", but it's like with clothes style. Doyoung looks very good in sportswear but he is not a sportsman, he looks very good in a suit, but he is not a secretary or businessman. In some songs he simply shows more of his character, than just his voice skills and sincerity.
Doyoung knows what he likes, but he may not know yet what is his true colour. It is found via trial and error. (Google earlier works of Van Gogh, at first he copied and even stole ideas from other masters, it took him many years to develop his own style he is so famous for). Doyoung likes to sing, singing as a process is what brings him happiness, not self-expression and self-exposure.
I'm a person who won't listen to something I don't like even if it is from my favourite artist. Most of the songs on the album are not the genres I normally listen to, yet I like them and enjoy listening to. Because of Doyoung's voice and energy.
This is one of the best performances from Do to me, and yet it is not a song for him, it's from another generation. He is an instrument, as a pro he delivers.

AI tutors are quietly changing how kids in the US study, and the leading apps are from China
Evan, a high school sophomore from Houston, was stuck on a calculus problem. He pulled up Answer AI on his iPhone, snapped a photo of the problem from his Advanced Placement math textbook, and ran it through the homework app. Within a few seconds, Answer AI had generated an answer alongside a step-by-step process of solving the problem.
A year ago, Evan would be scouring long YouTube videos in hopes of tackling his homework challenges. He also had a private tutor, who cost $60 per hour. Now the arrival of AI bots is posing a threat to long-established tutoring franchises such as Kumon, the 66-year-old Japanese giant that has 1,500 locations and nearly 290,000 students across the U.S.
âThe tutorâs hourly cost is about the same as Answer AIâs whole year of subscription,â Evan told me. âSo I stopped doing a lot of [in-person] tutoring.â
Answer AI is among a handful of popular apps that are leveraging the advent of ChatGPT and other large language models to help students with everything from writing history papers to solving physics problems. Of the top 20 education apps in the U.S. App Store, five are AI agents that help students with their school assignments, including Answer AI, according to data from Data.ai on May 21.
There is a perennial debate on the role AI should play in education. The advantages of AI tutors are obvious: They make access to after-school tutoring much more equitable. The $60-per-hour tutoring in Houston is already much more affordable than services in more affluent and academically cutthroat regions, like the Bay Area, which can be three times as expensive, Answer AIâs founder Ric Zhou told me.
Zhou, a serial entrepreneur, also suggested that AI enables more personalized teaching, which is hard to come by in a classroom of 20 students. Chatbot teachers, which can remember a studentâs learning habits and never get grumpy about answering questions, can replace the private coaches that rich families hire. Myhanh, a high school junior based in Houston, said her math grades have improved from 85 to 95 within six months since using generative AI to study.
For now, AI tutors are mostly constrained to text-based interactions, but very soon, they will literally be able to speak to students in ways that optimize for each studentâs learning style, whether that means a more empathetic, humorous, or creative style. OpenAIâs GPT-4o already demonstrated that an AI assistant that can generate voice responses in a range of emotive styles is within reach.
When AI doesnât help you learn
The vision of equitable, AI-powered learning isnât fully realized yet. Like other apps that forward API calls to LLMs, AI tutors suffer from hallucinations and can spit out wrong answers. Answer AI tries to improve its accuracy through retrieval augmented generation (RAG), a method that fine-tunes an LLM with certain domain knowledge â in this case, a sea of problem sets. But itâs still making more mistakes than the last-generation homework apps that match user queries with an existing library of practice problems, as these apps donât try to answer questions they donât already know.
Some students are aware of AIâs limitations. Evan often cross-checks results from Answer AI with ChatGPT, while Myhanh uses Answer AI in an after-school study group to bounce ideas off her peers. But Evan and Myhanh are the types of self-driven students who are more likely to use AI as a learning aid, while some of their peers may handily delegate AI to do their homework without learning anything.
For now, educators arenât sure what to do with AI. Several public school districts in the U.S. have banned access to ChatGPT on school devices, but enforcing a ban on generative AI outright becomes challenging as soon as students leave school premises.
The reality is, itâs impossible for teachers and parents to prevent kids from using AI to study. Itâs hard to discern whether a student has learned to solve a math problem by heart based on the answer they write, and detecting when essays have been written with AI is (so far)Â heavily flawed, too. So it may be more effective to educate kids on the role of AI as an imperfect assistant that sometimes makes mistakes rather than prohibit it completely.
Chinese dominance
As of May, the two most popular AI helpers in the U.S. are both Chinese owned. One-year-old Question AI is the brainchild of the founders of Zuoyebang, a popular Chinese homework app that has raised around $3 billion in equity over the past decade. Gauth, on the other hand, was launched by TikTok parent ByteDance in 2019. Since its inception, Question AI has been downloaded 6 million times across Appleâs App Store and Google Play Store in the U.S., whereas its rival Gauth has amassed twice as many installs since its launch, according to data provided by market research firm Sensor Tower. (Both are published in the U.S. by Singaporean entities, a common tactic as Chinese tech receives growing scrutiny from the West.)
The success of Chinese homework apps is a result of their concerted effort to target the American market in recent years. In 2021, China imposed rules to clamp down on its burgeoning private tutoring sector focused on the countryâs public school curriculum. Many service providers, including brick-and-mortar tutoring centers and online study apps, have since pivoted to overseas users. The U.S. is unsurprisingly their most coveted international market due to its sheer size.
The fact that tutoring apps are likely to be using similar foundational AI technologies has leveled the playing field for foreign players, which can overcome language and cultural barriers by summoning AI to study user behavior. As Eugene Wei wrote in his canonical analysis of TikTokâs global success,â[A] machine learning algorithm significantly responsive and accurate can pierce the veil of cultural ignorance.â
The reliance on the same group of LLMs also makes it hard for these study apps to differentiate solely on the quality of their answers. Some of the legacy players, like Zuoyebang and Photomath, can use a combination of generative AI and search in their extensive libraries of problem sets to improve accuracy. Newcomers will need to find alternative ways to set themselves apart, like enhancing user personalization features.
âAn AI agent needs to proactively engage with students and tailor its answers to individual learning needs,â said Zhou. âA raw language model isnât a ready-to-use AI agent, so we try to differentiate by fine-tuning our AI to teach more effectively. For example, our AI bot would invite students to ask follow-up questions after presenting an answer, encouraging deeper learning rather than just letting them copy the result.â

Why Training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is Helpful for Your Psychological Fitness?
Introduction
Psychological well-being is a very trending topic that trends very frequently on the internet. Thereâs a regular dose of instructions, tricks, and daily updates available to better your mental health. So, itâs evident that thereâs a great interest in this topic.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu martial arts schools have long been argued and at times considered as a serious psychological health promoter. In particular, itâs true when it comes to despair, nervousness, and other common mental issues that people deal with on a consistent basis.
If you have experienced or observed BJJ training, you can probably understand BJJâs efficiency in improving mental well-being.
This write-up elaborates few reasons why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu martial arts classes near me can support you to improve your psychological fitness. Letâs explore more!
¡      Pressure Relief with Tough Exercise
Tough spirited workout is a fantastic way to stimulate the release of endorphins. This upbeat chemical offers a ânatural highâ that is often linked with long-distance running or other forms of long-drawn-out and vigorous exercise.
Practicing and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an extremely physical activity that stimulates the release of endorphins in the human brain. This great euphoria created by BJJ offers you a God-like mood that persists for the rest of the day. Go for training in the mornings and youâll enjoy this thrill all day long. Discourage all false ways of improving your mood like drinking, smoking, etc., rather enjoy a BJJ training session and enjoy a natural boost to your mental state. It is also great for your complete health.
¡       Supporting Community
A sense of community and belonging is important to human wellness. When it comes to psychological health, a robust, optimistic, and helpful community can boost or damage your psychological well-being.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms/academies provide the most positive, and welcoming atmosphere around. Normally, instructors whoâre trained professionals and world champions create a positive environment and encourage the learners to be the best of themselves. If youâre new to the academy, a lot of respect is showered on you.
Many of these individuals will eventually become part of your network and will provide you with the cushion of a support system whenever required.
Social seclusion poses a multiplicity of mental health concerns like depression. When you train/practice BJJ your social life gets a substantial boost. Youâre part of a community and youâre made to feel wanted. BJJ academy is a fantastic place to make new and long-lasting friends.
¡       Enhanced Confidence Level
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu martial arts classes in Houston are much more than rigorous exercise and spending quality time within a community. BJJ is well-accepted as the most operational martial art ever developed and it helps to cultivate skills to defend yourself if you ever require to. After mastering some skills and acquiring a few rudimentary self-defense techniques, obviously, youâll move around with less unease and more confidence. Of course, youâll feel less vulnerable while with strangers.
Also, youâll feel more confident anytime you earn a new belt or master a difficult move. The more you practice BJJ, the sharper youâll get at it, and this, in turn, will make you more confident in every facet of your everyday life.
¡       Identity, Purpose, and Calling
Practicing BJJ offers you a drive and sense of purpose as you rise higher and higher through the ranks. Youâre much more than just a salaried individual or a mere businessman. Youâre genuinely driven and carry a burning passion within your heart to excel at things.
BJJ also offers you various other things to aim for like - winning your local BJJ tournament, earning a new belt, or getting a job as an assistant coach, and more. Youâll start drawing references from BJJ in other aspects of your life too.
¡    Instills a Healthy Lifestyle
If you go beyond just regular exercise and a sense of belonging, general healthy habits matter as these are key to long-term mental well-being.
Healthy habits like - consuming a healthy diet, drinking ample water, getting a good nightâs sleep, and dealing with stress successfully are crucial for keeping you well-balanced and psychologically and emotionally healthy through the various stages of life.
Itâs a known fact that healthy living and BJJ training go simultaneously. While recovering from BJJ training sessions you cannot afford to weather an unwholesome diet and wayward lifestyle.
If youâre addicted to BJJ, it becomes a necessity to stay disciplined and healthy.
Once you get into the mode of leading a healthy lifestyle for BJJ, you will notice enhancements to your mental health also.
Conclusion
Learning and practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at martial arts class in Houston offers you many benefits and those are hard to explain. These benefits actually vary from individual to individual.
Your psychological health constitutes a major portion of your lives and BJJ has the potential to help you stay mentally fit throughout your life and this, in turn, assists you to traverse through hard-hitting times and take out-of-the-box decisions when required.

How the Kindergarteners Won | Tips on Self Improvement
In the previous post I related an experiment that was done to highlight aspects that create a good culture in which teams can be productive. As a self-improvement business coach in the Woodlands one of the areas of focus in corporations and small businesses that I collaborate with has been regarding culture and how culture impacts not only a teamâs efficiency but effectiveness.
The kindergarteners in the experiment won against teams of business students. They also carried the experiment to other groups. The kindergarteners defeated lawyers and CEOs. So, what was going on that created this unexpected result?
Letâs start with what we focus on, which is individual skills. If you think about it, individual skills are easy to focus on because they are the most visible. But, when it comes to team performance, it is not individual skills that matter. What matters is the interaction.
Letâs take a look at the business students. As a personal business coach in Houston, I have worked with talented young people. The business students had more talent individually than the kindergartners. But they were not engaged in collaboration, so much as what psychologists call, status management. They were figuring where they fit into the larger picture. Who is in charge? Is it okay to criticize someoneâs idea? What are the rules here? Their interactions appear smooth, but their underlying behavior is riddled with inefficiency, hesitation, and subtle competition. As a result of managing status their first efforts collapse and they run out of time.

Private vs. Group Golf Lessons in Houston: Which to Choose?
Whether you're a seasoned golfer looking to refine your swing or a beginner stepping onto the green for the first time, the question of whether to take private or group golf lessons is a common one. At Houston Golf Lesson, we understand that the decision ultimately depends on your goals, budget, and learning style. Both private and group lessons have their distinct advantages, and finding the right fit can help you get the most out of your golfing experience. In this post, we'll break down the key differences between private and group lessons, so you can make an informed decision and start improving your game today.
1. What to Expect from Private Golf Lessons
Private golf lessons in Houston offer one-on-one coaching with a certified instructor. In this format, you'll receive the undivided attention of your coach, who can tailor each lesson to your specific needs and skill level. This personalized approach can be especially beneficial if you're looking to make rapid progress or address specific areas of your game.
Advantages of Private Golf Lessons:
Tailored Instruction: The most significant advantage of private lessons is the ability to customize your instruction. Your instructor can analyze your swing, stance, and technique in detail, providing you with feedback and drills that target your weaknesses. Whether youâre struggling with your driver, short game, or putting, the coach can pinpoint exactly what needs improvement.
Faster Progression: Because youâre receiving individualized attention, private lessons tend to accelerate your learning process. Your instructor can give you clear, focused guidance that directly addresses your goals, helping you build confidence and skill quickly.
Flexible Scheduling: Private lessons often offer more flexibility in scheduling. You can choose times that work best for you, and there is generally less wait time between lessons compared to group lessons.
No Distractions: With private lessons, youâre the sole focus of your instructorâs attention. This can create a more immersive learning experience and reduce distractions from other students. If you feel self-conscious or overwhelmed in a group setting, private lessons may be a more comfortable option.
Increased Accountability: With only yourself to answer to, private lessons often foster a stronger sense of accountability. Youâre more likely to show up prepared, practice diligently, and stick to your improvement plan when you have a dedicated coach monitoring your progress.
Considerations for Private Lessons:
While private golf lessons in Houston offer numerous benefits, they come with a higher cost compared to group lessons. Additionally, they can sometimes feel more intense due to the one-on-one nature of the interaction, which may not be ideal for everyone, especially beginners who might benefit from a more relaxed, social atmosphere.
2. What to Expect from Group Golf Lessons
Group golf lessons involve learning alongside other students, typically in a small class setting with a coach overseeing the entire group. Group lessons provide the opportunity to interact with fellow golfers, learn from others, and enjoy a more social, community-oriented experience.
Advantages of Group Golf Lessons:
Cost-Effective: One of the most significant advantages of group lessons is the price. Since youâre sharing the instructorâs time with other students, the cost per lesson is typically much lower than that of private lessons. This can make group lessons an attractive option for those on a budget or those who want to take more frequent lessons without breaking the bank.
Social Interaction: If you enjoy a more social learning environment, group lessons are an excellent option. Youâll be able to meet new people, exchange tips, and motivate each other as you progress. Many golfers enjoy the camaraderie of learning alongside others who are at similar skill levels.
Diverse Learning Styles: In a group setting, you have the opportunity to observe how others approach the game. Watching fellow students and learning from their successes and mistakes can help you better understand the techniques being taught and provide additional insights you may not have considered.
Competition and Motivation: The group setting can also provide healthy competition. Being around others who are striving to improve their skills can inspire you to push harder and stay motivated. Itâs also a great way to get feedback from multiple perspectives.
Flexible Class Times: Group lessons are typically offered at various times throughout the week, which provides a level of flexibility. Many facilities offer both daytime and evening options, making it easier to find a time that fits into your schedule.
Considerations for Group Lessons:
Less Personalized Instruction: One of the primary drawbacks of group lessons is the lack of individualized attention. While the instructor will provide general guidance, they may not have enough time to focus on each studentâs unique needs. If you have specific areas of your game that need improvement, group lessons may not offer the level of detailed attention you require.
Pacing: In a group setting, the lesson will move at the pace of the group as a whole, which might not be ideal for every student. If you progress quickly, you may feel the lessons are too slow, while if you need more time to master a skill, you might struggle to keep up.
Distractions: While the social aspect of group lessons can be a lot of fun, it can also lead to distractions. You may find yourself paying more attention to what others are doing rather than focusing solely on your own game. If you're someone who prefers a quiet, distraction-free environment, group lessons may not be the best fit.
3. Which Option Is Right for You?
Choosing between private and group golf lessons depends on several factors, including your learning style, budget, and goals. Here's a quick breakdown of which option might be right for you:
Choose Private Lessons If:
You want personalized instruction tailored to your specific needs.
You have specific areas of your game you need to improve (e.g., putting, driving, or short game).
You prefer one-on-one attention from your instructor.
You have a flexible schedule and can invest in the cost of private lessons.
Youâre looking for faster progression and more focused feedback.
Choose Group Lessons If:
Youâre looking for a more affordable option.
You enjoy a social, community-oriented learning experience.
You prefer learning in a group setting with others of similar skill levels.
You donât mind a slower pace or sharing the instructorâs attention with others.
Youâre looking to supplement your practice with occasional lessons rather than intensive coaching.
4. Hybrid Option: Combining Private and Group Lessons
For some golfers, a hybrid approach can be the perfect solution. You might choose to start with a few private lessons to work on key areas of your game and then transition into group lessons to continue practicing and improving while benefiting from the social aspect. This combination allows you to get personalized coaching in the beginning and then enjoy the camaraderie and motivation of a group setting as you progress.
Conclusion
At Houston Golf Lesson, weâre committed to helping golfers of all skill levels improve their game. Whether you choose private or group lessons, the most important thing is that youâre actively working on your skills and enjoying the process. Both formats have their strengths, and the choice ultimately depends on your individual preferences, goals, and budget.
If youâre unsure which option is best for you, donât hesitate to reach out to our team. Weâd be happy to discuss your needs and recommend the ideal lesson plan to help you achieve your golfing goals.

Well, 1.5 billion dollars was spent on executive coaching last year! So, there is some reason for the mammoth investment! Most specifically, larger companies around the globe train their resources for upper management skills. Why the CEOs are going gaga over executive coaching in Houston?Â

Self-Awareness
The primary area of target is improving self-awareness. Of course, there is a good reason for that. It works as a catalyst for growth. It triggers your responsive emotions, thoughts, and awareness. Since people with high emotional intelligence are aware of their actions and emotion. This awareness leads them to achieve professional excellence also.
Self-Regulation
The awareness of emotion brings discipline and motivates you to follow strict guidelines repeatedly. With self-awareness, one can achieve inner confidence which will eventually help them to handle situations with ease and comfort. Kansas City Chiefs: Super Bowl LIV Champions
LEN DAWSON FORMER CHIEF, HALL OF FAMER
âThe excitement youâve brought to this city reminds me of that magical season when we won the Super Bowl 50 years ago. Itâs now your turn to bring the trophy home.â â Dawson, the Chiefsâ Super Bowl IV MVP and Hall of Famer, via KMBC-TV in a message to this yearâs team
GEORGE BRETT ROYALS LEGEND, HALL OF FAMER
When we called him, he was running home to pick up his iPad so he could watch Chiefs highlights at the gym. âWell, what DONâT you like about the Chiefs? I watched the Chiefsâ comeback against the Texans the other day. Then I went home and I watched the Royalsâ comeback in Game 4 (against the Astros in the 2015 American League playoffs). Iâm going, how could this happen? To the same city, against the same city?â
MELISSA ETHERIDGE SINGER-SONGWRITER
This rock icon from Leavenworth has sung the national anthem at Arrowhead. How many people can say that?: âLast Sunday (Jan. 12, vs. Houston), when (Daniel) Sorensen made that tackle on the fake punt, my eyes welled up with tears because I felt it: that heart, that soul, that, âWe are doing this for KCâ feel. Itâs hard to describe, but itâs why I have been a fan since the 1970 Super Bowl.â
Join the conversation on Twitter Go to Twitter and tell us what you love about the Chiefs. We may use it in an upcoming story.
#MyChiefsLove DAVID KOECHNER ACTOR, COMEDIAN
Koechner, a native of Tipton, Missouri, who attended Mizzou, has an allegiance to the Chiefs that goes back to Christmas 1971 and their double-overtime playoff loss to the Dolphins. âWhich we all know didnât turn out right. Because the Dolphins cheated. A lot of people donât know that,â he said with a laugh during a recent Facebook Live session with The Star. Count him among those enamored with this seasonâs team: âWow, it just keeps getting better. You know, we had that little hitch in the middle of the season, but thatâs the right time to have it. ⌠You canât help but think weâre in great shape.â
TECH N9NE RAPPER, ENTREPRENEUR
The rapper, producer and entrepreneur whoâs still based in Kansas City, and whose lyrics often include nods to the city or things related to the region says, âWhat I love about our players is they are FEARLESS! Executing plays as if it were their very last game on Earth ... at least it feels that way to me!â
WENDY GUILLIES PRESIDENT/CEO, KAUFFMAN FOUNDATION
âIn so many ways, this team reminds me of the 2015 Royals. It feels like their time â they have a will thatâs undeniable and they find ways to win. They are quintessential Kansas City: full of heart.â
NED YOST FORMER ROYALS MANAGER
âIâm sitting here in Georgia, but Andy Reid is my coach, Patrick Mahomes is my quarterback, (Travis) Kelceâs my tight end.â He says this seasonâs Chiefs are like the 2015 World Series champion Royals because of how close they came the season before: âThe experience gained is invaluable. And now that theyâve been there, they understand what itâs like. And once you get a little taste of it, itâs like a mountain lion with blood: Once you get a little taste, nothingâs going to stop you.â
BOBBY BELL FORMER CHIEF, HALL OF FAMER
Bell, the first Chiefs player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, helped the club to a pair of Super Bowls, including their victory 50 years ago in Super Bowl IV. âWhat I love is theyâre winning games, big games. ... Theyâve got a lot of character. We havenât seen anything like this in how many years?â
DONNA MAIZE KCFD CHIEF
âBesides that exuberant feeling of community you get walking into Arrowhead Stadium on game day, what I really love about the Kansas City Chiefs is the excellent teamwork utilizing everyoneâs strengths to achieve a common goal, which embodies what KCFD excels at each and every day.â
ALBERT PUJOLS MLB ALL-STAR
Pujols, the three-time National League Most Valuable Player and two-time World Series champion who played high school baseball at Fort Osage in Independence, said: âI love the determination from their core of young players and veterans. It seems like they only became hungrier after last yearâs AFC Championship Game.â
BILL SELF KU HOOPS COACH
âI think theyâre ... what did they call the Rams back in the day? The Greatest Show on Turf? And this may be the Greatest Show on Grass. Iâm just amazed with how many weapons and how fast ... it doesnât matter who you put out there, it seems like they can all make people miss, and then youâve got the most talented guy in the league orchestrating it all. I think theyâre so fun to watch. But not being a football expert, I think defensively is where weâve gotten so much better. ... Weâre flying around, and even if people score points, the defense has to feel good that, âHey, if we only give up 21, itâs going to be a good day for us.ââ
TOM WATSON GOLF LEGEND
The winner of eight major golf tournaments, including two Masters championships, is a lifelong Chiefs fan who wants to see them âmake amends for Super Bowl I against Green Bay. I love the intensity and fun with which they play. To see their joy and passion in playing a game. You can see it in how the team plays, how the players respond to each other ... thatâs what I love about the Chiefs.â
TRAI BYERS ACTOR
Star of the TV drama Empire and the movie Selma and native of Kansas City, Kansas: âThe grit, the fight and the next-man-up mentality is exactly how we ended up here! And EXACTLY why the road to the Super Bowl goes through the worldâs loudest stadium with the worldâs best fans. LETS GO CHIEFS.â
ROGER MARSHALL U.S. REPRESENTATIVE, R-KANSAS
âTheyâre just so exciting. I mean, Iâve got to tell you, in my conversation with the President â we had an hour together â I bet we spent 10 minutes talking about the Chiefs and just what an exciting game that (win over Houston) was. You know, Iâve got a buddy there in Kansas City, a pledge brother, weâve been waiting now for 50 years to go to a Super Bowl. I grew up with Len Dawson and Otis Taylor and Jim Lynch and Willie Lanier and Bobby Bell and Ed Podolak. We watched some great teams and so weâve been waiting anxiously for this team.â
ROB RIGGLE ACTOR, COMEDIAN
Riggle, who attended Shawnee Mission South High and KU, has been obsessive for as long as he can remember about the Chiefs and Royals, once telling The Star that their fates and his are entwined. âI love this yearâs team,â he said in a recent Facebook Live session with The Star. He said Patrick Mahomes changes everything. âI definitely think he creates things. Not only like a broken play, but whatever he sees out there, heâs always making it up. A lot of it, you have a plan, but the defense has a vote in that plan. A lot of times it gets screwed up, and so you have to adjust. And he is one of the best at adjusting on the fly, and heâs got all the physical skills to make that happen. Yeah, Iâd say heâs an improv genius.â
TONY GONZALEZ FORMER CHIEF, HALL OF FAMER
Gonzalez, the NFLâs most prolific receiving tight end ever and 2019 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, spent 1997-2008 with the Chiefs. âWith Patrick Mahomes, I love the ad-libs,â said Gonzalez, now an NFL studio analyst for Fox. âThe magic in anything is in the ad-libs. When thereâs a breakdown and things go awry, thatâs what gets us out of our seats. When the pocket breaks down, guys get open, Tyreek Hill over the top, itâs so much fun to watch.â
CLAIRE MCCASKILL FORMER SENATOR, NOW TV ANALYST
The former Democratic senator from Missouri puts it like this: âWell, how can anyone not love this team? Last week showed the country why the Kingdom is having so much fun. And while Mahomes is breathtaking, Reidâs creativity and a much-improved defense is our ticket to Miami.â
KEVIN HARLAN VETERAN BROADCASTER
A resident of Mission Hills, Kansas, Harlan punctuated his calls with his trademark âOh, baby, what a play!ââ as radio voice of the Chiefs from 1985-93. Heâs now an NFL play-by-play man for CBS Sports. âWhat I like about the Chiefs is how they continue to compete every season,â Harlan said. âThat is such a difficult thing to do in the NFL. ⌠I love how theyâre continually good, because we know that for so many years, there wasnât hope and the level of their play was not close to this. Every year now, theyâre always in the conversation, and thatâs what I like best.â
HEIDI GARDNER âSATURDAY NIGHT LIVEâ
Says the SNL star and Kansas City native: âWhat I love about the Chiefs is theyâve got each otherâs backs always. On the field and off the field, theyâre brothers. Theyâre all accountable and step up when called. Itâs not offense, defense, coaches, all separate. Itâs one big family. And I love that.â
JOE CARTER FORMER MAJOR-LEAGUER
Carter, who hit the walk-off home run that won the 1993 World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays, has made his home in Leawood since the end of his baseball career. âI see 53 guys having fun who love one another. Itâs a big family, and that makes it fun to come to work. It starts with Coach Reid and goes to Mahomes and goes down. When youâve got a special guy like Mahomes leading the charge ⌠youâre going to be happy for the next 15 to 20 years.â
MITCH HOLTHUS VOICE OF THE CHIEFS
âResiliency,â said Holthus, radio voice of the Chiefs since 1994. âThey embody the spirit of what makes up the people of the Chiefs Kingdom. They reflect this region. Hard-working. Tough. On task. Take nothing for granted. Theyâre a neat group.â
KATHY NELSON KANSAS CITY SPORTS COMMISSION
Says the president and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission (and championship team parade planner): âThere is so much energy and excitement around the city! Driving home at night has become an emotional high to see so many buildings lit up in red. And wearing red every day of the week has become an anticipated challenge. How can you not love these guys? Sundays canât come soon enough right now. Itâs becoming easier to visualize and plan another parade, this time in red.â
CARL PETERSON FORMER CHIEFS GM
Peterson, the Chiefsâ president and general manager from 1989 to 2008, revived a struggling and stagnant franchise by turning the team into an annual playoff contender and creating the frenzy in the parking lots and seats that continues today at Arrowhead. âI love their never-say-die attitude. They never think theyâre out of a game and have proven it a number of times, and the Houston game proved it big-time. A great deal has to start with the quarterback. Heâs exceptional.â
PAT WARREN KANSAS SPEEDWAY
Warren is president of a track that plays host to a NASCAR playoff race every year, so he knows something about postseason pressure. âThis team has a confidence in itself unlike anything Iâve seen in professional sports. They always believe they can win. Itâs a culture that exists in a team, and itâs a culture that breeds winning and is cool to see. When they were down 24-0 (vs. Houston), the attitude was not defeatist. It was, âHow are we going to get back in this thing?ââ
RICK SUTCLIFFE FORMER MAJOR-LEAGUER
Sutcliffe, of Independence, was the National League Cy Young Award-winner in 1984 with the Chicago Cubs. He attended Chiefs games with his grandfather and has established relationships with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. âI love them more as people than even as players,â Sutcliffe said. âThatâs so important to a community. Thatâs the reason you see so much red in Kansas City. You fall in love with them even more once you get to meet them.â
QUINTON LUCAS MAYOR OF KCMO
Weeks after his inauguration last year, âQâ stood atop City Hall and envisioned a championship parade for the team he has cherished forever: âWhatâs not to love about this team? I mean, you look at the excitement, the happiness they have to be around each other, the fact that they have a young quarterback who can come back from 24 down. ⌠This is the sort of thing you want to follow. Itâs infectious. Thereâs joy every day. They hang out together. They care about Kansas City.â
DICK VERMEIL FORMER CHIEFS COACH
The former Eagles, Rams and Chiefs coach who keeps as busy as ever with his Vermeil Wines operation in California, still follows the Chiefs closely and loves this group for several reasons. His email on the topic: â# 1, I love the coaching job Andy (Reid) & his staff have done! #2, I love how they get the ball down field in the passing game. # 3: I love the improvement in the defense coordinated by Steve (Spagnuolo) & staff! Go Chiefs!â
KEVIN WILLMOTT WRITER, KU PROFESSOR
Kevin Willmott, a professor of film and media studies at the University of Kansas who won an Oscar for co-writing âBlacKkKlansmanâ: âHave been a fan since fifth grade when I got a Chiefs vs. Vikings electric football game of their Super Bowl win for Christmas. Exciting time for Kansas City.â
TRENT GREEN FORMER CHIEFS QB
Green, the Chiefs quarterback during 2001-06, now serves as the clubâs preseason television analyst and is a commentator for CBS television and radio. âThe excitement they bring is infectious. The offense has been that way for a couple of years, but the defense has brought a lot of energy. The additions of Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu ⌠thereâs a whole new attitude on that side of the ball.â
DAYTON MOORE KC ROYALS GM
âI mean, Iâm a fan like everybody else and like to see action on the field and athletes playing against one another. But from my viewpoint across the street, I think it begins and ends with the great leadership that they have in their organization. That speaks to the consistency, and thatâs what I admire about it. Regardless of what happens going forward â because what happens on the field, as we all know, is very unpredictable at the professional level â the steady, quality leadership is something that I notice and pay attention to.â
LIDIA BASTIANICH CHEF, AUTHOR
The proprietor of Lidiaâs Kansas City says: âThe Chiefs are amazing to watch and cheer for. It is extraordinary how the team energized the city and makes Kansas City rally together. The comeback by Patrick Mahomes (against Houston in the Chiefsâ playoff opener) shows that if you put your mind to something, you can do anything. I am so proud that Lidiaâs is a part of Kansas Cityâs fiber and a cheerleader for the longstanding tradition of the Chiefs.â
BILL HANCOCK COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF DIRECTOR
Says Hancock, who calls Prairie Village, Kansas, home: âWhat I love the most is the balance between the offense and the defense. They are very good on both sides of the ball, and I always enjoy that in a football team. You donât see it very often.â
JAN STENERUD FORMER CHIEF, HALL OF FAMER
Stenerud, the first pure kicker inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, made all three of his field-goal attempts in the Chiefsâ victory over Minnesota in Super Bowl IV. âIn addition to their tremendous talent is the impression I have of the whole team, that theyâre nice young men. I like the way they represent the organization. Every time you see someone interviewed, Iâm impressed with the way they handle themselves. Iâm proud of them.â
CHRIS GOODE FOUNDER/OWNER OF RUBY JEANâS JUICERY
âAs a lifelong Kansas Citian, the biggest change Iâve seen is the depth of camaraderie the players have amongst each other. Thereâs this sense of family that we have in Kansas City and I believe the Hunt family, along with coach Andy Reid, have found a nucleus of guys that not only mesh on the field, but off as well. You can see them genuinely supporting each otherâs community endeavors and lifting each other up when thereâs a dropped ball, or when weâre down. That energy is reflective of what is so special about Kansas City and makes me admire this Chiefs squad. It reinforces the sense of pride I feel to call KC home.â
VLATKO ANDONOVSKI U.S. WOMENâS NATIONAL TEAM SOCCER COACH
âThe excitement around the Chiefs in Kansas City is just awesome. We have a great community feeling in Kansas City and the Chiefs bring everyone even closer together, so for them to be having such a successful season is fun for everyone. I really love how entertaining they are and how they play aggressively, creative and fast. Coach Reid, the assistant coaches and all the players have done a great job and I appreciate how much they want to win for the fans. I know they can get to the Super Bowl and bring a championship back to Kansas City.â
KAY BARNES FORMER KCMO MAYOR
âRemembering the Chiefsâ Super Bowl win 50 years ago, Iâm just as excited today about the Chiefs hopefully winning again.â
JOE POSNANSKI AUTHOR, FORMER KC STAR COLUMNIST
âThere are so many things to love about these Chiefs, but I think you have to start with Patrick Mahomes. How can you not? What a joyous presence. What a fantastic player. But even that doesnât quite cover it. I was in Kansas City for so many Chiefs heartbreaks. And the thing that stood out was that the Chiefs simply couldnât find their own quarterback. Trent Green was a fine player, but he had bounced around for a few years. Elvis Grbac â we all remember that. Rich Gannon came and went. Joe Montana stopped by for a time after already becoming a legend. You couldnât help but wonder: When would the Chiefs ever have another quarterback who owned the town the way Len Dawson did? And this kid came along and he played fearlessly and the Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl. Heâs the screensaver on our oldest daughterâs phone. I donât know what else you need to say.â
GEORGE TOMA GROUNDSKEEPING GURU
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Man has served as a groundskeeper for all 53 Super Bowls, and No. 54 falls on Feb. 2, his 91st birthday. The longtime groundskeeper for the Chiefs and Royals was selected as head groundskeeper for Super Bowl I after then-NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle admired the pristine green grass at KCâs old Municipal Stadium. âThis team has a hell of a coach in Andy Reid. I took care of his practice fields in Jacksonville for the Super Bowl when he was the Eaglesâ coach, and he was so gracious and I think the world of him.â
CHRISTIAN OKOYE FORMER CHIEF
The Nigerian Nightmare led the NFL in rushing with 1,480 yards in 1989, when the Chiefsâ offense was built on a power-run game. âWe were exciting when I played, but itâs totally different now with Mahomes and how he plays,â said Okoye, who runs the California Sports Hall of Fame, which he founded in Ontario. âWhat I love about them is not giving up. When they were 24 down, and fans were going home, I looked at the players, and they didnât flinch. I saw Mahomes talking to his teammates, and I told the people I was with, âWeâre going to win this game.ââ
JASON KANDER FORMER MISSOURI SEC. OF STATE
âLike the â14/â15 Royals, this team feels truly connected to the community and they help people around the world learn more about this awesome town. Plus, watching the Chiefs win takes me back to my childhood growing up in the â90s. I can almost taste the Velveeta queso.â
MATT BESLER PRO SOCCER STAR
Besler, a Sporting KC and U.S. National Team veteran who attended Blue Valley West High, says this: âWatching the win against Houston as an athlete, with seven of my teammates, I couldnât help but notice two things in particular about this special Chiefs team. The first was the tremendous enjoyment that every Chiefs player displays on the field. We saw firsthand the passion they have for the sport, the passion they have to compete and the passion they have to represent Kansas City and its amazing fans. The second thing that stood out to me: confidence. Theyâve shown it all season long. No matter who they play, where they play or what the score is, this Chiefs team believes it can win. Theyâre not afraid of anyone.â
HARRIS FAULKNER TELEVISION NEWS ANCHOR
Faulkner, anchor of Fox News Channelâs âOutnumbered Overtime,â spent 1992-2000 as a news anchor at WDAF-TV (Ch. 4) in Kansas City. âLoving the Kansas City Chiefs is first driven by my fascination with sports. ... There are a lot of NFL superstars out there but, through the 50 years leading up to this moment, Kansas City players have carried a banner of passion and talent that fans can be proud of. Glad to count myself among those loving fans this Super Bowl Sunday â GO CHIEFS!â
DAVID COOK MUSICIAN, AMERICAN IDOL WINNER
David Cook has worn, and continues to wear, many hats: musician, American Idol winner. Broadway star. Blue Springs native. And unabashed fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. âI love this teamâs resiliency and focus. They remind me of the vibe surrounding the 2015 Royals. No deficit feels too large, and no moment too big.â
WILL SHIELDS FORMER CHIEF, HALL OF FAMER
Shields, the Pro Football Hall of Fame guard, has started more games, 223, than anyone in Chiefs history: âThe simple fact is theyâre putting up big numbers, theyâre winning games, and are electric in what they do. They give you that optimism of saying, âWe have a chance to get to and win a Super Bowl.âââ
DAVID DASTMALCHIAN ACTOR
Overland Park native and co-star in the Ant-Man movies, Blade Runner 2049 and next yearâs The Suicide Squad, which is now filming: âIâve never thrown a Super Bowl Party before. Iâm having preposterous amounts of KC BBQ shipped to an undisclosed location where Iâm working on an undisclosed film with a handful of undisclosed individuals. A couple are 49er fans, so they wonât be getting any of my BBQ.â
WILLIE LANIER FORMER CHIEF, HALL OF FAMER
âAll of the games that youâve participated in in your life start trying to give you some answers to an illogical situation,â said the ever-analytical Lanier, an anchor of the Chiefsâ 1969 Super Bowl champion team and Hall of Famer who went on to a distinguished business career. When the Chiefs found themselves in a 24-0 hole against Houston, Lanier considered their plight to be âaberrations of the momentâ as he waited to see what it would lead to. The result was testimony to experience and a group dynamic he considers essential in a championship team, like the trust and accountability that buoyed those 1969 Chiefs.
JEFF KRUM PRESIDENT OF BOULEVARD BREWING CO.
âNo longer just one-dimensional, this team â like a fine beer â is beautifully balanced. With their spirit, energy and integrity, these Chiefs are easy to cheer for, and weâre proud to have them represent our city.â
BILL SNYDER FORMER K-STATE FOOTBALL COACH
The Wildcatsâ coaching legend and College Football Hall of Famer knows the game better than just about anyone else, but the things heâs most struck by in watching these Chiefs start with their MVP quarterback: âLike most, Iâm impressed with Patrick and Andy, but Iâm also so very impressed with how well their offensive line protects the quarterback and the improvement of the defense. Above all, I appreciate the continuity and teamwork of both players and staff. No true weak links.â
EMANUEL CLEAVER U.S. REPRESENTATIVE, D-MISSOURI
The KC congressman said his three favorite things about this yearâs Chiefs team are: âMahomesâ chemistry with the Legion of Zoom; the luncheons held by our pass-rushers in opponentsâ backfields every week; and Mathieu taking the defense to another level and demonstrating his superior football IQ.â
JOSH HAWLEY U.S. SENATOR, R-MISSOURI
âOne thing that comes immediately to mind is I just love the creativity and almost the joyful and kind of childlike joy the team plays with. I think Mahomes really sets the tone for that. ... It just reminds me of the best parts of Little League. The sense that youâre out there, youâre loving the game, itâs so much fun. ⌠I donât want to be quoted as saying Iâm comparing Mahomes to a Little League ballplayer, but in just the love of it. Itâs just so fun.â
JONATHAN JUSTUS CHEF
Executive chef/owner of the former Justus Drugstore and Black Dirt and future executive chef/owner of Justus Drugstore 2.0. âThese guys, at the end of the day, are looking you down, and smiling while licking the barbecue sauce off of their fingers and sayinâ âWhoâs next?ââ
JEAN PETERS BAKER JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR
âThe Chiefs stadium is truly a Kansas City experience. Itâs not about the coach, any player, or the fans. Itâs about the moment. The minutes before the kickoff when we collectively embrace the palpable energy and an unwavering belief that we cannot lose. Itâs exciting, unifying, and a little bit scary in a blur of red. But win or lose, itâs our team, our town and our pride.â
KELLY COLE PRESIDENT AND CEO OF HALLS
âThis team loves their fans as much as we love them. They are great supporters of Halls, and we appreciate them.â
PAT ROBERTS U.S. SENATOR, R-KANSAS
The senator said his favorite things about this yearâs Chiefs team are: âThey are a team everybody can cheer for ... whether youâre from Missouri or Kansas, you are a Chiefs fan. It really brings the community together. The Chiefs have completely changed the game this season. With Patrick Mahomes using the no-look pass, the Chiefs have become the Golden State Warriors of the NFL. ... I love seeing my Wildcats find professional success, and No. 13, Byron Pringle, the wide receiver, is a K-State alum.â
MICHAEL MACCAMBRIDGE AUTHOR, HISTORIAN
âWhatâs so compelling about this yearâs Chiefs is that itâs not only about the Magic Unicorn Quarterback and The Legion of Zoom. In 2019, the defense has a clear identity and personality as well, thanks in large part to the man with perhaps the most nicknames in the NFL, Tyrann âHoney Badgerâ âT-5â âKingdom Landlordâ Mathieu. The road to the AFC Championship Game has been tougher this time around, but this team is more balanced, more battle-tested and more resilient than the Chiefs of 2018. Also, Patrick Mahomes is a year smarter and more experienced, and â this part hasnât changed â remains more fun to watch than any athlete in the country.â MacCambridge attended the Barstow School and was editorial coordinator of the Chiefsâ Hall of Honor. His books include a biography of Lamar Hunt and ââ69 Chiefs: A Team, a Season and the Birth of Modern Kansas City.â
GARY PINKEL FORMER MU FOOTBALL COACH
âThereâs a lot of things (to love). ⌠We were shooting ourselves in the foot about every way possible (against Houston) ⌠(then) the leadership came through. When things got really, really tough, they werenât yelling and screaming at each other. They were encouraging each other. ⌠Thatâs how you get a chance to get out of it. ⌠(And) when youâve got Patrick Mahomes, youâre never out of a game. Thereâs a guy like that in New England.â
BILL JAMES AUTHOR, HISTORIAN, STATISTICIAN
The Holton, Kansas, native and KU alum says: âIt is fun for us to be the team that has that guy that you just canât stop, like Elway or Aaron Rodgers or Brady or whoever ⌠itâs fun that now we have that guy. The thing I enjoy is the creativity of the offense. Andy Reid will always come up with something that you havenât seen before, and before you can process what he has been doing, he moves on to doing something else entirely. I know that he is responding to something the defense has done, but thatâs all over my head: Itâs like watching a chess match. Iâm thinking one step behind and theyâre working two steps ahead. But itâs fun to watch.â
JEREMY DANNER 4 HANDS BREWING CO.
The on-premise specialist/brand ambassador for 4 Hands Brewing Co. enjoys watching the Chiefs achieve success and says he especially appreciates what QB Patrick Mahomes and longtime girlfriend Brittany Matthews do for our furry friends: âIâm a healthy level of obsessed with Patrick and Brittanyâs dogs, Steel and Silver. As a pit bull owner and advocate myself, I think their dogs are gorgeous, but beyond that, I appreciate what they do to help them serve as ambassadors for pits and Cane Corsos. Their Instagram feed is super cute!â
CHASE MCANULTY FOUNDER/CEO, CHARLIE HUSTLE
âThe best thing about these Chiefs is they represent who we are as a city. They share the same values we do as citizens and embody the heart and spirit this city thrives on. A true team on the field, led by the best organization off of it.â
MICHAEL SMITH CHEF
The chef/co-founder of Farina and Extra Virgin In The Crossroads says: âPatrick Mahomes always gives the Chiefs a chance to win a ballgame. Over the years theyâve never had THE quarterback that could score in a flash from anywhere on the field. There are only a handful of quarterbacks in the NFL who can flip a game and give the fans eternal hope that the team can come from behind and win a game. That feeling and belief will be with Chief fans for the next dozen years.â
GARY WOODLAND PRO GOLFER
The PGA Tour star and University of Kansas grad says: âI love the energy this team brings. Obviously starts with Andy Reid, which it feels like every player wants to play for. Then Mahomes controlling the sideline like a veteran and playing like heâs in the backyard with his buddies is awesome. All brought together with the attitude Mathieu has brought to the defense. Itâs exciting to watch.â
DERRICK JOHNSON FORMER CHIEF
Johnson, the Chiefsâ career leader with 1,262 tackles from 2005-17: âI love the confidence they play with. I had some really good years here, but they have taken confidence to the next level. Theyâve raised the bar, and the Super Bowl is right in their grasp and it could make their dreams come true.â
CLINT BOWYER NASCAR DRIVER
Bowyer, the NASCAR Cup star from Emporia, Kansas, attends games when they donât conflict with his racing schedule and was in the stands for the playoff comeback win against Houston. âWhat do I love about the Chiefs? Hereâs a simple answer: All of it. I love it all. I love what theyâve done for the city, what Arrowhead means as a fan, to be able to watch them go to battle every week. I love the quarterback, I love Andy Reid, how far the defense has come. And I love knowing youâre an elite group in the playoffs and knowing the team you root for is the team everyone in these playoffs are worried about.â
JACK SOCK PRO TENNIS STAR
Sock, a two-time Wimbledon and 2018 U.S. Open tennis doubles champion and four-time state champion at Blue Valley North, counts some Chiefs players as friends. âThey feel like my NFL family. We have the best fans in the league. Iâm all about the CHOP. Whatâs not to love?â
BUBBA STARLING ROYALS OUTFIELDER
The Gardner, Kansas, native was the No. 5 pick overall in the 2011 baseball draft after starring in both football and baseball at Gardner Edgerton High. âI think theyâve got the potential to go all the way. ⌠I mean, I could see the Chiefs, the next however many years, getting to that point. But itâs like, it doesnât happen very often, just being in the Super Bowl, and, gosh, that would be sweet to go cheer them on.â One more thing: Starling was picked in elementary school to get to wear the KC Wolf costume. âThe most awesome thing Iâve ever done,â he said, laughing.
FRANK BOAL TV/RADIO BROADCASTER
âIâve been covering this franchise since 1981, Iâve never seen anything quite like this team. They are on the verge of something special and no one deserves it more than the Hunt Family and the Chiefs Kingdom. As Patrick Mahomes said, âLetâs do something special.â How about a âsea of redâ flowing through downtown in all of our February splendor?â
