What Success Looks Like | Tips on Self Improvement
Tumblr media
Success is a deeply personal and subjective concept, as it varies from person to person based on individual values, goals, and aspirations. Here are some common elements that people often associate with success:
Achieving Personal Goals: Success can be defined by the accomplishment of personal, meaningful goals. These goals may relate to career, education, relationships, health, or personal development.
Financial Well-Being: For some, success is closely tied to financial stability and the ability to meet one’s needs and desires comfortably.
Career Fulfillment: Attaining satisfaction and fulfillment in one’s chosen career or profession is often considered a mark of success.
Positive Relationships: Success can be seen in the quality of relationships with family, friends, and significant others. Maintaining positive and meaningful connections is crucial for many individuals.
Personal Growth and Development: Continuous learning, self-improvement, and personal growth are often integral aspects of success for those who value lifelong development.
Health and Well-Being: Feeling physically and mentally healthy, as well as maintaining a balanced lifestyle, is a measure of success for many.
Contributions to Others:  Making a positive impact on others or contributing to the community can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
Balanced Life: Striking a balance between various aspects of life, including work, family, leisure, and personal interests, is important for a well-rounded sense of success.
Overcoming Challenges: Success is often associated with resilience and the ability to overcome challenges. Facing adversity and emerging stronger can be a significant measure of success.
Happiness and Contentment: Ultimately, many people see success as synonymous with happiness and contentment. Finding joy in life and being satisfied with one’s journey is a common marker of success.
It’s essential to note that success is not a one-size-fits-all concept. Each person’s definition of success is unique, and it may change over time as priorities and perspectives evolve. It’s a dynamic and ongoing process, and individuals may find success in different areas and at various stages of their lives.
Taking time to reflect on your values, aspirations, and what brings you a sense of fulfilment can help you define and pursue your own version of success. It’s not only about reaching specific milestones but also about enjoying the journey and finding meaning in the experiences along the way.

Every time former UConn women’s basketball guard Evina Westbrook makes a mistake in practice, she automatically knows the one voice that will immediately call her out.
Fellow former Husky star and Westbrook’s current Phoenix Mercury teammate Diana Taurasi will shake her head and challenge Westbrook to be better with a simple look.
It’s that support that has reignited Westbrook’s love of basketball.
"Just playing with her, it doesn't matter if I mess up. She knows what I'm capable of," Westbrook said Monday during the Mercury’s media availability. "So, every day, you know, I'll miss a shot and she'll laugh and be like, ‘You know what you should have done.’ Or I won't take a shot and she'll be like, she’ll look at me and I’m like, ‘I know. I know.’ And we'll just start laughing. She gives me another piece of joy to the game, I think, and I needed that, and I love that."
Westbrook joined forces with Taurasi and fellow former Husky Moriah Jefferson this spring when the Mercury signed the Oregon native during training camp. All three guards represent different generations of UConn women’s basketball, however; to Westbrook, that’s what makes them so disciplined and motivated on the court.
"We come from like a certain type of pedigree for sure," Westbrook said. "I feel like other people do know it and we know it ourselves just coming from UConn having that UConn mentality and bringing that to the W is much easier. … It’s great. I'm really glad I went there. It really set us up for success in the W."
The Mercury are Westbrook’s fourth different team in the WNBA after playing for Seattle, Minnesota and Washington during her rookie season last summer. Westbrook was drafted in the second round by the Storm but was waived before the start of the regular season. She teamed up with Jefferson with the Lynx for 14 games before closing out the year in D.C.
Now in Phoenix with Taurasi and Jefferson – who signed a free agent deal with the Mercury during the offseason – Westbrook is continuing to grow her game even more.
On Monday, she said Taurasi’s serious but fun demeanor has taught her how to play with more confidence.
"It’s her personality. I mean, I'm constantly laughing in the weight room just because she's talking or she's singing, she's dancing," Westbrook said. "But she's still locked in at the same time. And when she comes on into court, it is business. She'll mess up and stuff like that but she's coaching at the same time. And just the reads that she makes and the passes. It’s the little things that she does is really impressive.
"But I mean she's the G-O-A-T for a reason. She doesn't have that nickname out of nowhere. So, you definitely see it in practice. Just being able to be her teammate and just kind of being a sponge and kind of just soaking up everything that she's been able to give me on and off the court, I've taken every advantage of it."
Taurasi’s dedication to the game reminds Westbrook of Husky head coach Geno Auriemma.
"It’s easy to see why they get along and why they butt heads because they're the same person," she said.
When a reporter in Monday’s scrum teased that UConn hadn’t won a national title since 2016, Westbrook responded with confidence.
"We're coming back," she said. "We can't win them every year."
Westbrook has averaged 8.7 minutes across three games so far this season for the Mercury.
The Mercury are 1-3 to start the year and sit at No. 4 in the Western Conference standings. Phoenix will travel to Texas this week to play at Dallas on both Wednesday and Friday in a homecoming game for star Brittney Griner. The former Baylor star was born in Houston and led the Bears to the 2012 NCAA Championship.
"We haven't started off great as a collective, but I think it's understanding throughout the whole team that we know what we need to get better at and it's all of it is fixable," Westbrook said. "… There's a lot of new pieces on this team. So, it's just all of us trying to feel that chemistry within each other. Everyone does something different. Everybody brings something different to the table. So, it's how can we bring all this you know Thanksgiving food and make it a really good meal?"

2. Lessons from Leaders
The Institute's researchers have reviewed thousands of practical ideas from the world's best management minds. Our management education content is success-oriented. The Institute researchers study the works of the most successful companies, managers and influential management thinkers to identify their best practices, critical success factors and learned lessons. Researched CEOs include names such as Steve Jobs, Jack Welch, Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates. The courses provide experiential analysis from leading companies such as AT&T, IBM, McDonald's, Microsoft, Sony, Exxon Mobil, Boeing, and Toyota. The researchers also conduct a critical analysis of the applications and limitations of popular management theories and practices, models and frameworks, including the works of leading management gurus, such as Adams, Drucker, Hamel, and Maslow. The researchers then incorporate findings into the executive education program to provide students with the latest and most advanced thinking and tools.
3. Experiential and Action-Learning Courses
Unlike academic programs that focus on management theory, our management training courses are designed for professionals with a focus on critical experiential insights and management best practices. The Institute management training is based on a unique experiential action-learning model that saves participants learning time, effort and costs. Managers do not like to waste time; they want quick and practical knowledge. The Institute's advisors are results-oriented. They understand key business drivers, operations and performance metrics better than most. The management training courses are designed using highly effective formats, including executive summaries, bullet points, frameworks, methodologies, checklists, tables and short case studies.

Meet Johnny Shelby, the driving force behind Third Coast Training! I appreciate the opportunity to share my story with you. I launched my coaching career in 2004 when my friend and I decided to become full-time endurance and multisport coaches in Houston, TX. As the head of the performance lab, I identified a crucial gap in fitness training. I observed that many individuals followed exercise programs that didn't align with their goals, leading to frustration, plateaus, or program abandonment. This realization fueled my passion to become a leading triathlon coach, specializing in comprehensive fitness testing for athletes of all abilities. I've discovered that endurance athletes possess remarkable fat-burning capabilities, primarily due to their well-developed aerobic base. My expertise lies in identifying and enhancing this foundation – because the stronger the base, the faster an athlete can perform. In 2007, I expanded my vision by relocating to Northwest Arkansas and establishing Third Coast Training. I operated a performance lab in Fayetteville while providing specialized fitness testing at the Walmart Corporate Fitness Center in Bentonville. For those searching for a "triathlon coach near me" in these areas, we offered comprehensive training solutions. A significant milestone occurred in 2013 when Third Coast Training in Pasadena, TX, earned recognition from USA Triathlon as the nation's eighth USA Triathlon Certified Performance Center. This prestigious designation required meeting stringent criteria established by USA Triathlon, confirming our commitment to excellence in multisport training. Today, as an experienced triathlon coach, I continue to find immense satisfaction in helping clients achieve their diverse goals – whether they're focusing on fat loss, speed improvement, or rediscovering their love for fitness. My client base spans from enthusiastic twenty-somethings to dedicated septuagenarians. We particularly welcome newcomers while also supporting competitive age-group athletes. Triathlon encompasses multiple disciplines, and each athlete brings unique strengths and areas for improvement. I recognize that every individual is different, and I'm grateful for my clients' trust in helping them maximize their potential. How was my start as a Fulltime coach? My first year as a full-time coach presented typical business challenges. Through dedicated effort, we reached our break-even point after 12 months. Interestingly, many early clients kept their training advantage private, seeking to maintain their competitive edge. As these athletes began showing remarkable improvements, word naturally spread about our effective coaching methods. Their successes became powerful testimonials for our training approach. More on my business. As a dedicated triathlon coach, I take pride in Third Coast Training's recognition in 2013 as the nation's eighth USA Triathlon Certified Performance Center by USA Triathlon. Our Greater Houston location stands unique with this prestigious designation. I actively lead our daily operations alongside my team of certified coaches. Our state-of-the-art facility offers comprehensive services designed for optimal athletic performance. Athletes can access our advanced human performance lab, professional massage therapy services, and a heated indoor endless pool for personalized swim instruction. We provide detailed video analysis and performance testing to enhance training effectiveness. Both members and non-members can benefit from our USA Triathlon Certified Coaches' expertise, while also accessing specialized consultations in physical therapy, and sports psychology. What was I like as a kid? My childhood as a military family member shaped my adaptability and determination. My father, a Marine Force Recon veteran, instilled in me a powerful drive for excellence. His influence, particularly through his "6 P's" philosophy, helped me develop a highly motivated and goal-oriented mindset that proved valuable throughout my life. My active lifestyle included diverse activities - from scouting to various sports including cross country, track and field, baseball, and wrestling. I'm thankful for my parents' active involvement in fostering both my athletic and social development. My passion for running flourished particularly during our time in California and Oregon, where the challenging terrain provided excellent training grounds. But wait there's more.  June 18th, 2024, I suffered a terrible car crash that nearly took my life. I’ve been sharing my journey in parts, detailing how I got back to running. Running is my passion, don’t stop me. Follow my journey https://thirdcoasttraining.com/2024/06/18/titaniumjohnny-the-crash-and-journey-back-to-running/ Read the full article

Hammon, you better handle this coaching and draft pick and trade business! Don’t play around. If she let’s Martin go and keeps KB…I just maybe done with the Aces!
I implore you to watch the presser with Natalie and the GM. Natalie wants to select SELFLESS players, and she also wants ball movement in the offense. She was a walk-on for UCLA and earned her way into a starting role. Watching the presser, it seems like the GM and VP did some scouting since the season started and will show what they have to Natalie.
I’ve followed the W for a while and have good knowledge on the front office and coaching hire by Lacob. Oheema is an amazing person who cares about the players - she’s genuine and there’s a reason why players love her. The VP was with the London Lions, another great hire. Natalie Nakase - great hire. I’ve seen her frustrated at Becky at times during games…probably Becky being stubborn and not listening to her coaching staff.
What I noticed is that earlier in the season, when Becky allowed Natalie to pick the subs, Kate was always her pick. 2nd half of the season, it seems like Becky didn’t let any of her asst coaches do any of that. Natalie is also big on defense so take that however you want. She is also not big on drama and can guarantee you she’s not gonna pick Nalyssa Smith. Neither will the GM tbh. They’re going to draft as many quality players as they can in the expansion. I won’t be surprised if GSV traded their 1st round pick to the Aces in exchange for maybe KP and another Aces player (can see Kate).
We will know the GSV roster on December 6. People need to keep in mind the GM and the HC of GSV because you can have a good idea on who they will draft based on their background and watching the presser.
https://youtu.be/aw00DM86RE0?si=--S_mWCBbKlymsJf
no fr, you know a whole lot of the intel with the W! I’m getting a front seat to the inside of how the league works from your chats. learned more from the last couple days than i had before. i appreciate it!
(responding to the other post w/in this)
who all do you think is getting signed to GSV?
can you send the title of this video? for some reason, when i copy/paste it, a Whitney Houston reaction video pulls up lol! or the algorithm is just exposing what I be looking at and is remixing that link!
“Players might want to go to GSV, but listen to the presser and listen to some other interviews with Nakase. She wants selfless players who care more about their teammates than themselves; team over self, on and off the court is what she said. Her and the GM don’t want drama players, so you can take Nalyssa Smith off of that line. If you want to be successful, you want good human beings who are good players - that’s how you build culture so, keep that in mind.”
you mentioned N.Smith from Indiana possibly not getting signed to GSV because she isn’t selfless and they don’t want drama. Now, I absolutely did not follow the Fever like that at all. I didn’t really prior to this year and I for sure wasn’t this year (but no matter how hard i tried to avoid all things Fever, i was still getting informed of all things Fever. no one was exempt from not seeing all the in-house problems as well as fan involvement but all of social media and sports commentary platforms spoke about this team 24/7; plus anytime the Aces played them, I started to get more algorithmic hits of the Fever) and I can’t say definitively what their culture was but based off what we all witnessed this year, I can see that Smith wanted out and far away from that organization! All the drama that surrounded them would have vets want out too. So I don’t know if she can be labeled as not being selfless. On court and even off court factors. Unless, conjecture inserted from all the online chatter, Smith and her relationship with Harrington played a part in her relation to her own team…I guess we can throw that in there. But if we’ll do that, then we have to do for all.
Smith’s defense would fall in line with Nakase’s being big on defense. Imo she’d fit really well with how she’s trained the Aces defense and it could work for the GSV foundation she wants.
Tbh, Plum is really iffy on the “selflessness” that you say Nakase wants. We’ve seen plenty of games how her selfishness (on court that is) impacted games. And then also, as with Smith, her personal matters also played a part in impacting her performances this season.
In all fairness, no matter how hard we try, as humans, at times separating the two can’t happen in totality. At some point, the personal things do blend into our professional and impacts how we move. Normal human nature. There are some people who do really well with compartmentalizing the two tho.

Improve Your Relationship With Yourself | Self-Improvement Coaching
Holding on to what you cannot change is like wrestling with your shadow. It makes for a frustrating relationship with yourself. The shadow is visible, but you will be continually frustrated and unhappy because you cannot control or change it.
Tumblr media
In your business and personal world, you must know when you are wrestling with your shadow. Your shadow is all the things you cannot control.
In my personal business coaching in The Woodlands and Houston, very often I have clients that are wrestling with shadows.  I have certainly wrestled with shadows.  My shadows can be doubt, indecision, and timidity to name a few.  They are valid as long as I wrestle with them.  The moment I let go, stop wrestling with them, they lose their power to distort the picture I have of myself and my world.
How do I let go?  First, what I am about to share does not always work.  But when you have a method for dealing with your shadows you start having confidence which brings a greater degree of happiness.  That alone puts me in a better place.
To get rid of my shadows, I journal.  I get deep inside myself to discover what is truly driving my fear, the fear that creates shadows.  My biggest challenge is to borrow trouble and turmoil in the future before it ever arrives.  One of the things I journal about is the present and all I have to be grateful for.  When I am grateful, I feel better, more at peace, and am willing, now that my foundation feels more solid, to overcome my doubts, indecisiveness, and timidity.

Why Choose a Female Personal Trainer in Texas for Your Health and Fitness
For many Texas mothers, juggling work deadlines, football practices, and limitless carpool loops, prioritizing their health and fitness can feel like an impossible dream. Maybe you used to like hitting the gym. However, the idea of crowded weight rooms and commonplace workout routines leaves you feeling discouraged.
Here's the good news: a fitness revolution brewing in Texas, offering a convenient and personalized approach specifically designed for busy women – the female personal trainer.
Tumblr media
Why You Should Consider a Female Personal Trainer
Gone are the days of intimidating drill sergeants and one-size-fits-all plans. A female personal trainer understands women's specific, demanding situations and desires, particularly mothers. Here's why they are likely the suitable fit for your Texas fitness adventure:
Empathy and Understanding: Female trainers have a more profound know-how of the hormonal fluctuations, body changes, and emotionally demanding situations women face.
Tailored to Your Needs: They create personalized applications primarily based on your goals (weight reduction, muscle constructing, pre/postnatal fitness), health level, and any obstacles you may have.
A Supportive Sisterhood: Connect with a community of Texas women on a similar journey. Female trainers foster a supportive environment that keeps you motivated and accountable.
Flexibility for Busy Lives: No more battling traffic or rigid gym schedules! Many female trainers offer online fitness coaching, allowing you to train from the comfort of your home gym, at a local park, or even while on a family vacation.
Beyond the Workout: A Holistic Approach to Your Texas Well-being
Female personal trainers and nutritionists in Houston go beyond just reps and sets. They offer a holistic approach to your health, incorporating:
Nutrition Guidance: Many female trainers are certified nutrition coaches or can provide personalized recommendations on fueling your body for optimal results. This can be especially helpful in navigating the diverse culinary scene of Texas!
Mindset Matters: An advantageous relationship between meals and exercising is crucial for long-term success. Your instructor will let you triumph over emotional ingesting triggers, handle stress, and build a sustainable fitness mindset.
Focus on Your Goals: Whether your goal is to gain power, gain strength stages, or feel greater confidence in your pores and skin, a female trainer will tailor your program to achieve the goals.
Selecting a Top-Notch Female Trainer in Texas
The vast landscape of Texas offers a multitude of certified online personal trainers. Here are some tips for finding the perfect fit for you:
Know Your Goals: Be clear about what you want to achieve. Do you seek to lose weight, improve your endurance, or gain muscle definition?
Seek Certified Professionals: Choose a trainer with relevant certifications from accredited organizations. Look for additional qualifications in areas like pre/postnatal fitness or nutrition coaching, which is especially helpful for moms.
Explore Online Options: Many female trainers offer online coaching programs, making them convenient and accessible for busy Texas women.
Read Reviews and Testimonials: See what other Texas women say about their experiences with different trainers.
Schedule a Consultation: Most trainers offer free consultations, which allow you to explore their approach and see if it feels like a good fit.
Success Stories: Texas Women Thrive with Female Trainers
The power of a female personal trainer is evident in the transformative stories of Texas women like Maria, a working mom of two in Austin: "I felt completely lost in the gym," she shares. "But working with my online female trainer has been a game-changer! She created a customized workout program that fits my schedule and keeps me motivated. Now I feel stronger, more energized, and confident in my own skin."
Similarly, Emily, a busy entrepreneur in Houston, credits her female instructor with helping her reap sustainable weight loss and broaden healthy behaviour: "My instructor is aware of the challenges of juggling work and family life," she says. "She provides sensible steerage on nutrition and exercising, making it easy to keep my fitness dreams. I not longer feel like I'm continuously on a restrictive eating regimen, and I actually have the energy to maintain my demanding schedule."
Embrace Your Fitness Journey with Confidence
Texas ladies, remember that prioritizing your health and fitness is not selfish; it's essential. Investing in yourself – through personalized guidance from a female personal trainer – empowers you to feel your best and build a foundation for lifelong well-being.
