Temples on the high street: Kyôto Teramachi and Shinkyôgoku

A typical Japanese covered high street, right? Yes, there are lots of shops left and right, but this is Kyôto, a millennial capital and centre of cultural and religious tradition in Japan. So what happens when a modern high street encounters a centuries-old temple, bearing in mind that it would be very bad form to ask the priests to sell up?

Well you leave the temple alone and build around it. So, in between the big name drugstores, Animate, clothes shops and cafés lined with the street's signature bricks and tile floor, here's the entrance to Seishin-in, with traditional wooden doors and tile roofing. It is also just visible in the first picture - see if you can notice it.

Seigan-ji is easier to spot, further illustrating the contrast. Online maps show that this temple even has a cemetery in the middle of the next block, completely encircled by shopping streets and businesses.

It's a similar situation for Tenshô-ji, though, this far up the high street, the commercial tissue becomes less dense. These temples seem a bit larger and own more land. Still, we've gone from a towering, mineral, covered street in the top photo, to an open path with low buildings and plenty of vegetation, with no transition.

These scenes of coexistence fascinated me when I first visited Kyôto in 2016, with a hotel in this area, so it was great to see them again on my brief return to the city in 2023. More fascinating still is the fact that one of these "just off the high street" temples is not only very old, but hugely historically significant... and I'm yet to mention it!

So I found this post on Twitter and I couldn't help but think about two artists

Vivziepop who drew N that one time, it's sad because I do like the drawing and how she made N look cute here but I obviously cannot like Vivzie because of the fact that she is indeed a horrible person and overall disgusting

Despite her being really good at vectoring mlp stuff in some cases to the point that it looks exactly like something that could be in the show.. she sadly isn't a great person either, while Vivziepop had drew art of a naked minor in a tub of snakes (zoophilla porn) and such.. Reitanna had dated a 14 yr old child when she was 18 (and allegedly, according to Issac in one of his youtube community posts and the now adult victim, Rei had SA'd him when he was 14), Wrote a story about a baby with an addiction to sex, wrote fanfics about underaged teens getting it on and a lot more. I already said this a while back but I'm PROUDLY to say it again, bad people don't deserve to have good talent and that includes proshitters, zoophiles, pedophiles and such.. they do not deserve to be good at anything.

Obscured ahh Muffins vhs movie

So, it's been a while since I actually drew anything Muffins related or even VHS style related.. so, I decide to redraw one of the scenes from Muffins, the 'the fun never ends' fanfic Reitanna wrote a while ago. The scene where Minkie yells at Fluttershy for not holding still. Also a reminder, I do not support Reitanna Seishin.. I only drew this for fun and I separate the art from the artists <3

Hey guys, so which one of you remember my Muffins rewrite?

And to everyone who says "I forgot" or "yOU HAD A REWRITE???" I forgive you all for not knowing or forgetting lolz. Well, I'm back to writing it again and finishing one of my unfinished chapters, that being the 'Side story: The Party Pony' rewrite that I'm working on.. Just like Reitanna's Muffins series, the story will have some side stories too as well as Main stories and I also rewritten and reimagined some of the scenes and stories that were in the infamous fanfic just as fixing Derpy Hooves' portrayal in the story and making her autistic rather than being an offensive portrayal of people with disabilities (my version of Derpy is base on myself... sort of, only difference is I currently don't have a carer yet and I ain't a murderer LOL).

The characters I'm using for the fanfic are either my own ocs, Reitanna's characters but they been completely redesigned/reimagined and some redesigns of some of the canon ponies like Pinkie, Babs and AppleBloom. Oh and Maud Pie is gonna be in it except, she isn't going to be a baker nor is she one of Pinkie, Inkie, Blinkie and Minkie's sister, instead she is their cousin :3

And since I know that Reitanna Seishin (just like Vivziepop) has stans in her audience I'mma put this here: This rewrite is NOT an attack on her! I am NOT writing or redesigning her characters out of "spite".. please respect that and PLEASE do not use my fanfic to harass or spite Reitanna either despite how problematic she is.
