some of you have asked me about my crt setup!!
some basic materials you'll need.
CRT TV (duh)
computer or laptop (duh)
HDMI2AV (NOT AV2HDMI)
RCA cords (the red, white and yellow ones)
HDMI to USB converter if your laptop doesn't have HDMI like mine does.
here is the setup, this is a multi monitor setup but you can just do this with one CRT.
step one: plug in your crt. cord in the back. that will power your crt!
step two: plug in the RCA cables like this.
step three: plug your RCA cords into the HDMI2AV adapter like so. you'll plug in an HDMI cord on the other side. MAKE SURE IT'S SET TO THE CORRECT SETTING. THERE'S NTSC AND PAL
if you don't know what yours is, check this map that explains where each one was sold.
PAL is just a different color encoding system, a bunch of technical stuff you can learn on your own.
step four: plug your HDMI into the USB adapter if you need it. YOU MIGHT NOT. DEPENDS ON YOUR DEVICE.
i use a windows surface pro and it requires i use this adapter. sucks ass but whatever.
OPTIONAL: if you have ONLY ONE usb port in your computer, consider getting a USB splitter so you can plug multiple things in. i have one.
and voila. a set-up!
you can treat these like different displays.
mines connected by the 3 cords in the front, but if you have more money and can get another adapter and etc etc, you can make these all different.
a few FAQ since i assume quite a few of you have never used crts or vhs players:
whats the ringing sound?: its a ringing sound caused by the transformer in the back, its the 15kHz tone. as you get older, you stop hearing it because you lose high frequency hearing. i cant hear it in one ear because of a radio accident and i bursted my eardrum.
can i stop the ringing?: buy a crt pc. theyre smaller and dont ring as much/at all depending on which one you have.
how do i use my vhs player: you plug the cords into the back of the vhs player and then into the crt.
where do i buy a crt: theyre not in production anymore so you will have to buy it secondhand on markets.
where did you get all your cords: most stores with an electronics section will have it but consider secondhand computer parts store.
what do you do with it: literally watch YouTube, vhs tapes, make vhs tapes (whole different thing) or play video games.
can it run bad apple?: yes
can it run doom?: yes
anyways yeah. end tutorial. 🥳

Hey! I’m gonna be a physics major next year, and I was wondering if the Mac and iPad combo have worked well for you, or if there’s something else you recommend tech wise?
short answer: yes.
but, im gonna use this has an opportunity to yap about my current study set up. this goes without saying, but what worked for me may not work for you, and my set up evolved over the years as i found what was best for me.
i use an iPad for lecture notes and homework. i think its the most organized you can get them to be without straight up LaTeXing the shit out of them (and i know people who do exactly that, more power to them)
i just write faster than i type, and an ipad allows me to copy paste equations and add photos and stuff which is helpful for diagrams. i use goodnotes 5, and i will sing its praises till the end of time.
i think it pays to develop a clear style for your homework and lecture notes, bc your work will be easier to navigate. here's an example of my lecture notes and my homework.
[hehe general relativity moment]
HOWEVER, you will mostly be having paper exams as a physics student so i recommend you don't get too reliant on your iPad. i tend to do all my studying in notebooks, or loose sheets that i can refer to. practice problems are always on paper.
[stat mech studying i did last week]
i started using legal pads for this from the end of junior year bc they're so convenient! im also incentivized by the stock our dept keeps in the mail room.
i have to do a lot of calculations for research and i prefer to do them on paper or a blackboard if it's something im reasoning out. idk it's so much easier to be stupid on paper than on goodnotes. ofc my research log is kept digitally, but i keep a binder with all my old calculations (both correct, and incorrect) along with my main reference papers.
[i was flipping through this just now and realised how much bs is in it.]
LaTeX is a good skill to have which i didn't realise until too late. if you have to write any paper that's remotely scientific, LaTeX is the way to go. none of that google docs bs.
i use both vscode and Overleaf for editing. i mainly just LaTeX my finalized research calculations into one big doc. it's much easier to show my advisor. also it looks cool.
i got a monitor when my laptop screen broke sophomore spring (something inside me broke as well that semester it was so fun). and if you have the option, i would totally recommend getting one. it's useful having a second/bigger screen.
i use mine for a bunch of things: coding, reading textbooks, genshin impact, Netflix, grading.
on the topic of textbooks, i use digital bc im cheap. but i do buy secondhand physical copies that i rarely reference, but keep around bc it doesn't hurt to start your hypothetical professor office bookshelf early. i only buy the ones i actually respect, like Peskin's Intro to QFT. but the digital copies are usually much handier. i keep an extensive digital collection of books and papers i might never need.
don't be like me keep your digital library more organized!
and yeah circling back to electronics! i use a Macbook Pro rn which has served me well. i guess things are different if you need to run solidworks or other specialized software, but you can always use the lab computers, so that was never a problem. i have an apple ecosystem bc im a slut for capitalism.. i mean i was already halfway there and now im just really used to it, so i like all my devices being friends with each other. my tip is always get more RAM than you thought you needed, and double the storage. but maybe that's bc im mean to my laptop and love hoarding files.
i also keep all my previous notes and printouts so may be i have an academic hoarding problem in general.
in the end, a mix of old school and new age technology bs works best for me!
thank you for your question! i hope this helps :)

Thank you for informing me about the computer company as well. I am more of a Apple girly, but I always buy my stuff secondhand from local businesses because I don't wanna pay full price! I was going on about. I was really upset that I really did a collection with the fascist Wizard boy books and very sad so I'm having to look for independent businesses who make the kind of things I want. I should probably have been buying from independent businesses this entire time.
the best time to be a better person is today :-) go support local and/or independent businesses! if anybody has recommendations for books to replace the racist wizard book, feel free to send em!
#apple also sucks but im also using an iphone rn cause its a hand me down LMAO 😭😭#pn.ask#im just sounding v harsh about it all rn because it pisses me off to no end that its so easy to search why the book and the author is bad#and ppl are still like hehe :3 but what house do u think (character) is ^_^ like oh my god.

where do you play your games on?
i don't have many personal belongings, i am wageless and expatriated, reliant on the generosity of another, loosing silicon and paper traces, transmitter imprints. a daemonic attachment to the sensuous, the assail of intuition with drudgery and consumerism, the hoarder's false icons, make me feel like the unfolded haplotic and unstipulated sincerity/reality put to a long art or lifework (bildung, too fraught a term?) is capsized and stung to sea, seven of pentacles reversed. everyday i wish i had the courage to crush my electronics with a sledgehammer. solitary gaming is not as open in creative capacity or spiral staircase entry nailings to a self remade time, such that i would channel energy toward console acquisition, i take pride in loyally resigning myself to my snes and pewter. i have a fondness for archaic adventure games, druidic mysteries and visual novels for laughing matters, relished through a windows 98 install on my partner's IBM personal computer 300GL, or by the phosphor ghost blots of a senior partner. it even smells gamey to shuffle through secondhand floppy disc galleries in total dark, waiting for the occasional weird raster hatched erotica to perk up on screen, at which we cheer grotesquely, snarling at the scroll of a mutating relationship to sexuality and the pleasure of seeing from its shining chest. a few years ago i wanted to extract the audio files from the disc image for the apple II GS version of dream zone, but that never came to fruition. our latest tiny task was to burn LSD dream emulator onto a CDR to run on a scrap playstation, its function frontally for a shop display but tacitly for the elevation of the tinker's enterprise, inspired by a recent hangout/accompanied guy time, prowling through his friend's save after questioning him on the unmistakable jewel case tucked atop a shelf to which he confessed its artifice. a chain of CRTs flashed the signal in unison, tied by a wire baton. i tried to yank him over but he was too determined to beat solitaire for old time's sake. magnetized, looping his appearance, the grey man strung a sightline to my rehearsals of fragmentation, arterial gown trains unbunching at the happy town tunnel, a pulse caught under steel. the day after my birthday, riding the tryptaminic ease out, parting the beaux arts sculpting the energy transmuted and consolidated in everything, we passed back and forth a cigarette of damiana, mullein, mugwort and skullcap as the sidewalk furrowed in droves of feet around us, alterior forms aflit, reduced to fluid evaporating to city air and poison fume curvature, the cut and concourse of skirt and skins, egrets nimble under raincloud parasols, porcelain scales tiptoeing. suddenly we saw heaven, must have been choked with the hilarity. a republic of gamers sign suspended, golden, guarding over an otherwise unmarked and rather diffident black door. we pressed our palms in the shape of prayer and bowed madly, finally there was our patriotic salvation, our asylum from the warmongering of the senses. a spatial special fit for the homophone from which ojigi reached reverence in the stitch between motion and the telepathic speech act. gratitude flies me, makes me weightless over the magnitude, the rock split on the activity to which i am lent, weighed with how much is lost, an impossible proportion when your blood, importance is barred and equanimity toward enmity, the nobility in withholding, whittles its sentinel smoke to an ineffective hell. the cow toils, having total access and acclimation to the sensuous and knowing its bounds against the hope for knowledge.
this is all too internet, i need naivist abandon, smarter than any lionized sprezzatura for it is not false, unspoiled by any social simulacral mediation of the network and its orgiastic, explosive exchange of desire pumping its endlessly denied and yet compulsively prioritized platelets into a vile differencing creature suspended in a vat. apathetic to the body, sterile for its oversight, spying on cellular caresses, dalliances swallowing over the lines of separation, sporelike. i want a reality innocent for its inheritance of every ill of the inwit flayed across arrangements of matter and time, the well of history, memory drawn out and in. so that i may be the ὀπαῖον ῥέπον, lantern hole, heaven entry, night heavy, lowered as a sleepy maid's fragile eyelashes on silver moonpan'd summer, the scale dipping and the counter weight forcing a flounce, folding desolation and dissonant intension to rest. i refuse to allow the unrelenting bloodloss of the worldly profane to stain me, but i can hope to be its small medic.

To add into this, the forced switch to streaming services, particularly for music, has been vexing for me. It's for similar greedy reasons as the above.
I'm going into computer science, so I grabbed a Mac secondhand. It is now the best computer in my house, mostly because I refuse to get a new one until after I move (internationally). Anyway.
I do a lot of stuff on my computer. My fiancé lives in there, dammit. So does my music collection, with some pieces that don't live on streaming anywhere. And some that were so hard to tag that I had to visit the Smithsonian website to figure out who the artist was.
I found out iTunes, the thing I have been using for decades (I often question the life choices that made me end up here, trust me), is not a thing on newer Macs. Only the garbage Apple Music streaming service. This mac has 250 GB internal storage, and my music collection is now well over 100 GB. I have to keep that on a separate drive when we're talking about a 250 GB laptop!
Well, I found a decent replacement by an independent dev (Swinsian is pretty nice so far, not as much of a shock to the system as the switch from Windows to Mac was). But it was irritating that I basically had to play download roulette with a bunch of programs and avoid ones with a monthly subscription license - of which there were many. I just want a nice program that can access my 15,000 songs I have chosen to store myself. This does not require a monthly payout.

Mac Password Removal: Hassle-Free Access to Locked Devices
Apple’s Mac computers are renowned for their security features, with password protection being one of the primary ways to secure user data. However, there are times when users may forget their password, find themselves locked out of their MacBook, or inherit a secondhand device with a password they don’t know. When this happens, Mac password removal services can be the solution, providing hassle-free access to locked devices without the frustration of data loss.
Mac Password Protection
Password protection on a Mac is an essential feature designed to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access. Whether it’s an Apple ID password for iCloud or the local system password for logging into the Mac, these security measures ensure that personal files, banking information, and other sensitive content are kept safe.
When users set a password, it encrypts their files and prevents anyone from accessing the device without entering the correct credentials. Unfortunately, in some cases, passwords can be forgotten, misplaced, or inaccessible, leading to the need for Mac password removal.
Common Scenarios That Require Mac Password Removal
While Mac password protection is essential, there are a few common situations in which a user might find themselves locked out of their device. Here are some typical scenarios where password removal services become necessary:
1. Forgotten User Password
One of the most common reasons people need Mac password removal is simply forgetting their user password. It’s easy to forget passwords, especially if you have multiple devices or passwords for various services. A forgotten Mac password can lock users out of their own device, preventing them from accessing important files, applications, and settings.
2. Password Change or Miscommunication
In the case of shared devices or family-owned Macs, passwords can be changed without the user’s knowledge. This could also occur if a password was set by someone else, such as a former employee or a friend, and the user no longer has access to it.
3. Secondhand Mac Devices
Buying a secondhand MacBook can be a great way to save money, but sometimes, these devices are still locked with a password set by the previous owner. This is especially problematic when the previous owner has forgotten or neglected to remove the password before selling or giving away the device.
4. iCloud Account Lock
Another common issue arises when users forget the Apple ID or iCloud password linked to their Mac. This can prevent access to the system or lead to issues with iCloud features like Find My Mac, data syncing, and app store downloads. Apple’s security measures make it difficult to bypass iCloud locks without proper credentials.
5. Hardware Malfunctions
In some cases, Mac password-related issues may arise due to software corruption, a failed system update, or hardware malfunctions that prevent users from logging in. In these cases, password removal may be part of a larger repair or system recovery process.
How Professional Mac Password Removal Services Work
If you find yourself locked out of your Mac, professional password removal services can help you regain access quickly and safely. The process usually involves specialized tools and techniques that ensure you don’t lose data in the process. Here’s an overview of how professional services generally work:
1. Initial Assessment
When you bring your Mac to a professional repair service, the technician will first assess the situation. They will identify the type of password issue you’re facing, whether it’s a forgotten user password, an iCloud lock, or another problem. Depending on the severity of the issue, the technician will determine the best course of action.
2. Data Backup (If Possible)
Before proceeding with password removal, reputable repair services will often back up any accessible data on the device. This is an important step in case the removal process involves erasing the device’s contents. This ensures that no valuable files, documents, or media are lost during the process.
3. Password Removal or Reset
Once the technician has evaluated the device and backed up the data, they will proceed with the password removal or reset. There are various methods for this process:
Password Reset Tools: If the MacBook is running macOS, a technician can use specialized tools to bypass or reset the password, allowing the user to regain access without deleting files.
Apple ID Recovery: If the issue is related to iCloud or Apple ID, technicians can assist in recovering the Apple ID credentials through Apple’s account recovery process. This often involves verifying the identity of the user before unlocking the device.
Reinstalling macOS: In some cases, where all else fails, the technician may reinstall macOS, which will effectively remove any password and restore the device to its factory settings. Although this method may result in data loss, it is sometimes the only viable option when other methods don’t work.
4. Verification and Testing
After the password has been removed or reset, the technician will test the Mac to ensure that it boots up correctly and that all features are functioning as expected. The device will be fully tested to ensure it is accessible and ready to use once again.
5. Providing New Password Setup
Once the device is unlocked, the technician may assist the user in setting up a new password or passcode to secure their device moving forward. They may also recommend setting up security questions or enabling two-factor authentication for added protection.
Why Choose Professional Mac Password Removal Services?
While there are DIY methods available online for removing Mac passwords, they often come with risks. Using unverified tools can damage your MacBook, result in data loss, or even cause additional security vulnerabilities. Here's why professional services are the best choice for password removal:
1. Expertise and Experience
Certified technicians who specialize in MacBook repairs and password recovery know the ins and outs of Apple devices. They have the knowledge and tools to safely remove passwords without damaging the system or compromising security.
2. Safe and Secure
Professional password removal services ensure your data is safe. Reputable services use secure methods that protect your privacy and ensure no data is lost unless absolutely necessary.
3. Preserving Warranty
Attempting password removal using third-party software or DIY methods may void your warranty or damage the device further. Professional services are more likely to preserve your warranty and ensure the device is repaired without compromising its integrity.
4. Time-Saving
Password removal can be a time-consuming process if attempted on your own. Professional technicians can complete the task quickly and efficiently, allowing you to get back to using your MacBook without prolonged downtime.
Whether you’ve forgotten your password, are dealing with a secondhand device, or need to regain access due to a malfunction, Mac password removal services provide a reliable solution for unlocking your device. These services are fast, secure, and professional, ensuring that you regain full access to your MacBook without the risk of data loss or further complications.
By choosing a trusted service provider, you can rest assured that your MacBook will be restored to full functionality quickly, allowing you to get back to your tasks without delay. Always choose a certified and reputable repair center to ensure that the password removal process is done correctly and securely.

Used Laptops in India: Things to Consider Before Purchasing
In today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world, owning a reliable laptop is essential. However, buying a brand-new laptop can be expensive, and not everyone wants to pay the high price of a new device. Thankfully, there’s a more affordable and sustainable option—used laptops. Used laptops in India are a great deal whether you're a professional, student, or just seeking for a cheap computer. To make a wise investment, there are a few things you should know before you go into buying one.
Before purchasing a used or refurbished laptop in India, you should think about a number of factors. This article will lead you through them all, including how to choose the best product, what to look for, and where to discover the greatest bargains.
Why Buy a Used or Refurbished Laptop?
Let's start by understanding why purchasing a used or refurbished laptop can be a wise decision before getting into the details:
Affordability: Used laptops and refurbished laptops are significantly more affordable than new ones, making them a great option for buyers on a budget.
Sustainability: Purchasing a refurbished laptop helps reduce electronic waste by extending the lifecycle of the device, contributing to a more sustainable environment.
Certified Quality: Reputable platforms like Retechie ensure that their refurbished laptops undergo rigorous testing and repairs to meet high-performance standards.
Top Brands at Lower Prices: You can find high-end models like Refurbished Apple laptops, including Refurbished MacBook Air, at a fraction of the price of new ones.
Key Differences Between Used and Refurbished Laptops
When browsing used laptops in India, you’ll often come across terms like "used," "second-hand," and "refurbished." While these terms are sometimes used interchangeably, they mean different things:
Used Laptops: These are second-hand laptops sold by individuals or retailers. They may have varied degrees of wear and tear and are provided in as-is condition. Generally speaking, there is no guarantee, so you purchase the laptop at your own risk.
Refurbished Laptops: These are laptops that have been returned, inspected, repaired, and restored to full working condition by the manufacturer or a certified retailer. Refurbished Apple laptops and other brands often come with a warranty, making them a safer option than used laptops sold directly by previous owners.
Renewed Laptops: Like refurbished laptops, renewed laptops undergo testing and repairs as well as replacement of parts to improve performance, such as SSDs or batteries.
If you’re looking for a balance between quality and affordability, refurbished laptops in India are an excellent choice as they offer both value and assurance.
Things to Think About Prior to Purchasing a Refurbished or Used Laptop
1. Check the Laptop’s Condition
One of the most crucial things to take into account with a used or refurbished laptop is its condition. For second-hand laptops, always inspect the physical condition carefully. Observe for indications of deterioration such as:
Scratches or dents on the body
Worn-out keyboard or trackpad
Screen damage or discoloration
Damaged ports or hinges
In the case of refurbished laptops, you can trust that they’ve been restored to like-new condition, but it’s still a good idea to verify the condition before making a purchase.
2. Battery Life
Battery life is one of the main issues with reconditioned and secondhand computers. Laptop batteries lose their capacity to keep a charge with time. Verify that the vendor has updated or changed the battery before purchasing a refurbished laptop. Enquire with the seller about the laptop's battery life while purchasing a used one.
To give customers piece of mind, several retailers, such as Retechie, guarantee that all refurbished laptops include a new battery.
3. Warranty and Return Policy
When purchasing a refurbished or used laptop, a guarantee is essential. A warranty provides assurance that the laptop will perform well, and if any issues arise, you’ll be covered for repairs or replacements. Refurbished Apple laptops, for example, often come with a warranty when bought from reputable sellers like Retechie.
Additionally, check the return policy. Platforms like Retechie offer a flexible return policy, which allows you to return the laptop if it doesn’t meet your expectations.
4. Specifications and Performance
Always examine the specifications before purchasing a used or refurbished laptop in India to make sure it will match your demands. Among the crucial elements to search for are:
Processor: Choose at least an Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen equivalent for good performance.
RAM: Try to have at least 8GB of RAM, particularly if you want to use demanding apps or multitask.
Storage: To get greater speed and faster data access than with regular HDDs, look for laptops with SSDs.
Graphics: Think about getting a laptop with a dedicated GPU if you plan to use it for graphic design or gaming.
Refurbished laptops are guaranteed to work better than typical used laptops because the seller frequently changes important parts like the SSD or RAM.
5. Software Licensing
Ensure that the used laptop or refurbished laptop comes with legitimate software licenses, especially for the operating system (Windows or macOS). Some sellers may install a cracked version of the software, which could lead to issues with security updates or functionality.
Purchasing from respectable vendors such as Retechie guarantees that the operating system is authentic and authorised.

it’s so satisfying whenever I scrounge together a working set of headphones out of weird secondhand trash (a few years ago it was my old Apple earphones, now it’s free headphones my grandma got on a plane like 10yrs ago which still have the left and right sound plugs, and a two to one adapter so they can plug into my one earphone hole) and they kinda lower the volume of the main vocal (sad) but I re-listened to youngblood (album) and I can hear all of calum and michael and ashtons harmonies in perfect clarity and can I say, being able to hear songs like this without a heap of effort and computer programs I don’t have is just so valuable and an experience that makes me so happy
#I remember being able to sing the harmonies for every taylor swift song up to reputation bc my shitty earphones in high school#and I can still remember most of 1989 and reputation and speak now#I’ve probably done this for youngblood before considering it came out in 2018#but I love how few layers it has compared to their later albums. not that I don’t like layers but I can’t hear more than 3 things at once#and to have a very clear harmony in one clear recognisable voice#is very nice and very much a mark of the era#musician thoughts#silver arranges 5sos#verse 2 appreciation hours#ghost of you#ashton’s harmonies are very memorable in it
