something something.. harvey letting his little hang out in his office at the clinic while he works.. making them a little nest in the corner with toys and blankets and stuffies, setting his laptop up on some cartoons and letting them play and nap while he works.. leaving maru to watch them when he's with a patient.. popping in whenever he needs to do paperwork or it's slow.. playing with his babys hair while he works at his desk.. smiling to himself at the thought of his baby being all cozied up.. patting their head and cooing at them.. hating every time he has to leave them alone.. taking them to gus' after work for dinner.. having them in his lap and bouncing them on his leg.. carrying their sleepy form home on his hip before laying them down for sleep in their own bed fully knowing they'll sneak into his arms during the night and he gets to hold them to his heart while they sleep.. something something..

reader is referred to as: sweetheart, pup/puppy, good boy, little one, baby content warning: mentions of illness and chronic pain ((stay safe little firelights, you can always come back to this when you're ready))

Harvey's hand was warm yet firm against the layers of blankets that swaddled you. He gently moved it, side to side against your shoulder to not startle you awake. "Sweetheart, please wake up. It's time for another assessment." His voice was gravelly and moved in ebbs like the rumbling of a storm. You turned over slowly in your body's best effort to respond to your papa's request. Harvey gently leaned over, the bed creaking beneath his weight as he placed a hand against your forehead to brush away the loose strands of hair. Upon seeing your pained expression his mustache drooped with an exasperated sigh. "Hm.. Let me see what I can do pup."

After a few minutes, the clicking sound of the medicine bottle's cap instinctively released a pained whine from you in resistance, pushing at your caregiver's hip weakly. "I know puppy. I know. But this will help you feel much better, I promise." Harvey chuckled, methodically shaking the rounded brick-red pills into his right hand. Placing them in your hand he sat you upright while humming and bopping his head to a peculiar tune. Your eyes drew up to the skylight above your bed, the surrounding frame hung an assortment of wooden model planes that the older man loved to collect in his spare time. That is when he had the time to focus on his passions in the first place. "Don't take these just yet. I have breakfast waiting for you in the kitchen. I'll bring it to you, so be a good boy and wait for me." Nodding, you watched Harvey scurry out to the hallway with great effort.

The breakfast spread consisted of each of your daily food groups, lovingly placed in the shape of a smiley face. At the far corner of the tray sat a small plastic cerulean vase, a vibrant dandelion sat with petals outstretched towards you. Suddenly, Harvey appeared in a tumbling flash, armfuls of pillows and blankets spilling from the tips of his grasp as the whole lot came crashing down onto the edge of the bed.

A brief minute went by as the two of you took in the scene around him. The older gentleman lifted himself from the floor with a groan and re-adjusted his tousled hair, glasses, and wool tie. "Ah... sorry about that! Thought it'd be nice for you to have breakfast cuddled up with something soft, and it's about time I refreshed your old pillows." He watched you roll your eyes playfully, patting the empty spot of the bed next to you. 

As he approached, he placed another hand on your back to lean you closer to his chest. Too caught up in the act of adjusting the pillows and blankets to notice his tired features, clearly visible they seemed to match your own. “Would you like your heating pad, baby?” he asked. You nodded but then cleared your throat to ask for his affection in return. “Can we cuddle, papa? You look tired too.” He smiled and cupped your face, rubbing the side of your cheek with his thumb as his eyes gleamed with affection. “One heating pad coming right up.”

You could hear the sounds of light whistling from the kitchen to fill the gaps of silence as you ate your meal, and the image of Harvey swaying gleefully to his tune warmed your cheeks. With the wafting smell of brewed coffee warming the air, you closed your eyes, full and satisfied, and waited for the pills to kick in as stuffies were held close to your chest. Harvey would soon walk into the scene, his eyes softening to the sight of you with arms outstretched towards him in anticipation. Undressing his coat he tossed it over the chair's crest rail, quickly casting aside his triple-shot espresso on its seat in favor of cuddling his little one. "Got room for one more?" He cautiously moved to your side, relocating the tray to the floor to hold his boy close to him. He couldn’t wait a minute more, bringing you in he could feel your warmth against him. If it weren’t for his unyielding dedication to assuring the health of the other villagers in town he’d have taken the day off just to sit with you a minute longer. You snuggled in with glee, taking in the feeling of his chest against your ear, each of his deep breaths a rhythmic hymn. "Before my next appointment, I think you'd be happy to know that Elliot will be over in about an hour to look after you while I'm out." He could hardly contain his pleased smirk as he looked down at you.

You practically leaped from his grasp with a vibrant shuffle out of the bed. It had been so long since you'd last had a playdate with the extravagant novelist, and there were so many new things you wanted to do and show him. The wooden drawers would not be able to hold you back from prying them open with a collection of crayons and papers ready for your taking. Harvey would let a satisfied chuckle at your eager response, quickly pulling you into a hug from behind. With a relieved sigh, you could feel his shoulders relax and his breath tickled your cheeks. Placing a quick kiss on your temple he rested his head against your shoulder. "I'm glad to see you're already feeling better puppy. Being your papa is the best thing that's ever happened to me. And I'll do everything I can to keep you safe and healthy."

Tv Time

He was cold. He was tired. He was hungry. Nothing was going his way. As he stormed his way into your farmhouse instantly you could tell he just needed a moment. His grumbling filled your ears as he walked past the kitchen you were currently cleaning. The sound of the springs of the couch bouncing became the next thing you heard, “babe” he called. You peaked your head over, the poor thing.

Shane’s eyes were sunken and tired, his sweater dirty and covered in ash, he hadn’t even taken off his work uniform. “Can you get me a beer?” He asked with a soft pout as he turned to face you, a soft sigh fell from your lips. “Don’t you think there’s a better way we can deal with these big feelings?” You ask, slowly saunter towards his slouched form on the couch

Shane’s grimace softened slightly, he knew what you were referring to. His therapist recommended a thing called ‘Age Regression’ which he, of course thought was bull. That was..until you got him to do it. He wouldn’t admit it but god he loved the way you pampered and fussed over him.

Before he could object to anything a sippy cup of juice was placed into his hands, a plate of apple slices in his lap and the tv flipped over to Blue’s Clue’s. “God damn it love I’m not- I’m not doing this..” he slowly trailed off. Shane’s eyes were transfixed on the screen, watching the blue dog bounce about while the host looked for clue’s on whatever had gone missing in today’s episode. Eventually his voice came in small and softly, “Blue..” he mumble pointing at the tv.

You watched as Shane looked back up at you, still pointing to the tv, he repeated again, “Blue..look, ‘s Blue”. God how could you not smile at that? “Yeah baby..‘s Blue” you smile, hands on his shoulders as you gently massage them. Shane still seemed hesitant to let himself fully slip, you watched as he eyed the sippy cup of orange juice, slowly you brought it up to his lips and tilt it back. “Good boy” you hum, watching Shane visibly relax, his shoulders fell and eyes began to droop as you sat by him.

Blue’s clue’s continued to play and eventually Shane’s soft murmur’s and mumble’s become snores. His head on your shoulder, you didn’t dare move, didn’t dare turn off the tv. He was warm. He was fed. And he was in your arms.

Caregivers! Marlon and Gil - ⚔️

(Marlon and Gil would be amazing papas and the little bit of game content they have will not discourage me-)

❤️: there is a very firm no babies or young kiddos/pets in the mines without a chaperone rule! If you're older you can go by yourself if you'd like to, but otherwise papa Marlon or big sis Abby accompany you

💙: Marlon makes some of the jewelry he sells himself, so expect to get some shiny gifts! If jewelry isn't your thing he gifts you the crystals on their own

❤️: Gil would make you a little star reward chart! The contents would of course depend on you and your needs, but could include getting a sticker for brushing your teeth for example. At the end of the week you can either have an extra treat after dinner or pull a prize from the goody box! (which includes a number of monster and adventure themed prizes)

💙: Gil also knows how to wittle and woodwork, he makes you little figures to play with and maybe even something like a rocking horse! He'll teach you too, but you have to be very careful

❤️: Marlon is stricter making sure you go to bed at a decent hour, not letting you have sugar late at night, etc. Gil on the other hand will sneak you both a cookie with a wink

💙: Gil rocks you with him on his rocking chair, usually for nap time or when it's time for bed! He tells you of adventures he had in his youth and some old adventures legends. Marlon joins in from time to time, especially if Gils adding a little too much extra grandeur to a tale
