A developer is once more seeking permission to build an 18-hole golf course on a protected nature site – Coul Links, just outside Embo, on the east coast of Sutherland. In the middle of a climate emergancy, in a time of strife and hardship - people are planning to strip away even more of Scotlands beauty and nature for the gains of the rich to play around for a few hours. Ive not seen it talked about on here yet but laws around hrt for under 18s in the uk has changed

They have banned all hrt for under 18 year olds in the uk, nhs or private services. This was put in place without any vote on the subject, The government has done this because of the Cass report's release

It was put into effect on june 3rd but no news media so far (to my or my friends knowledge) has covered it. I only just found this out by one of my friends, who is currently 17 but is turning 18 a week after they were supposed to get hrt but it has been blocked from him because he is still under 18.

I know i have like no reach on this platform but i think this deserves to atleast be known

Flamingo Land Update, December 2024

Right, lads, this isn't the news I wanted to find out tonight, but Flamingo Land is highly likely to appeal the plans for a resort next year.

After 155,000 votes to reject the plans these fucks aren't getting the fucking message. I'd usually make a post about this a bit more elegantly but I'm fuckin pissed off.

Even with The Woodland Trust, The National Trust for Scotland, and many other groups supporting the rejection on it, Flamingo Land have been given an extension to their contract to appeal.

They've been at this for a decade. And if I gotta talk and fight about it for another decade so be it.

Hopefully, there will be more updates after Christmas and New Year. Don't let Flamingo Land wreck a community and protect our landscape and scenery. It is much more than just a pretty place.

I'm wondering how many people outside Scotland (and especially outside the UK) are aware at the moment that we have a Scottish First Minister (Humza Yousaf) who...

is a Muslim

is really pro-LGBTQIA+ rights

has Palestinian in-laws, some of whom (his parents-in-law specifically) were trapped in Gaza until a couple of days ago and apparently are very traumatised by the bombing etc.; some of whom (including a brother-in-law who's a doctor and has refused to leave) are still there

as far as I'm aware Humza and his family received no sympathy or solidarity from any of the English party leaders over this which is a fucking disgrace (I'd be delighted to find out I'm wrong on this one, so if anyone has reliable sources that indicate I am please let me know!)

has also gone out of his way to express solidarity and empathy with Israeli victims of Hamas, including visiting a synagogue and being hugged by a relative of one of the October 7th victims

I mean, he's not by any means perfect (rather too centrist for my taste, at least by Scottish standards, and not doing as much on climate change as I'd like (though at least the SNP being in coalition with the Scottish Greens helps), but just... he's overall a good'un. Especially by politician standards.

(Also Elon Musk has finally noticed that Scotland has a left-of-centre, pro-LGBTQIA+ rights, pro-choice, Muslim First Minister and is apparently EXTREMELY FURIOUS, so expect the global far right to start getting really seriously unpleasant about all this and probably very Scotophobic as well as Islamophobic about it in three, two, one...)

Thats England. Every example you just showed was from England. You group us in because you keep seeing us as the same place but we're not. You cant magically fix your issues by pushing them onto other countries.
