#kingdom hearts 0.2 birth by sleep a fragmentary passage#kh0.2#main road#castle of dreams#realm of darkness#scenery#my gif#i suppose this area is still within the same world as my last set but i felt it deserved its own post#because it's so beautiful here i love the atmosphere#some areas are so lush with pretty flowers and fireflies and a few lanterns scattered around that make the place feel lived in#while other areas are covered in an eerie fog with distorted structures and an uncanny sky shimmering above#i spent... a very long time staring at all of the foliage. nomura can you put a first person view camera back into these games please#should we question why the people who live in these worlds aren't sent to the realm of darkness but the fireflies are?#what'd they do to deserve that

Danny is enjoying his vacation. He’s surrounded by so many creatures who are delighted to show him around, and there’s a bunch that are even called ghosts! Those ones seem to have deemed him as their favorite person, which isn’t hard, but they have also apparently decided that they have to follow him everywhere, including all the way home. And to whatever world he takes his next vacation-slash job as Clockwork’s student at.
Oh well, he’s sure it won’t be that noticeable.

I didn't add that to my tropical enviroments in fiction post, but some people talked about Tatooine in Star Wars as an example of a tropical or at least not-temperate home to heroes like Luke and Anakin, and the thing about Tatooine is that it's not a home. Luke hates it and wants to escape from it. Anakin was raised as a slave there, his infamous meme line is "I hate sand". Same with Rey and Jakku (the running gag is that nobody wants to go to Jakku). Every time characters go to Tatooine, it's portrayed as an exotic planet full of adventure and danger. Not a home.
Which is *interesting* because the home of Luke (and Anakin) is an actual home in one of the traditional Berber styles in Matmata, Tunisia, where it was filmed. The name Tatooine comes from Tataouine in Tunisia. Those exotic places that you see in the movies are or were homes to people and they have been for centuries. People who consider the desert home, like others would consider forests, jungles, plains, or oceans home. But, like I said, tropical and desert enviroments are instead always the Exotic, the Place of Adventure. Never home.
Wouldn't it have been interesting if Luke missed the heat of Tatooine (I know I have missed it when I went to colder places). If he missed the clear desert sky, the twin suns, the customs of his home, feeling a bit alienated in a perfectly clean spaceship instead of a warm lived-in place? Just something to think.

Mate, why are you engaging with my AU when you don't know the official lore to the original game? I'm sure you'll easily find some stuff you can read in the wikipages, the lore itself is very vague and scattered, so there's a lot of fan interpretations of it.
