When we say there's physical fuckery going on in the NINA massacre scene...it even shows up in the BTS pictures.

Look at the mirror. The angle is all wrong. We should be seeing the doors directly across from the mirror, but we see the ceiling instead.

It's tilted, see?

That means the mirror is fully mobile.

This just goes to support the fact that they're changing/moving the physical mirror itself. It also supports the fact that the broken mirror is a physical mirror, like we saw with this BTS shot:

Just for support's sake: a) Cameras don't correct for green screens. That's done in post-processing b) We can see the unbroken mirror on a similar screen in a different BTS photo.

We know, then, that the broken mirror physically exists.

That means they’re moving the mirror. They're deliberately using the mirror to fuck with us.

That means:

1. The reversing shard pattern? Intentional. The mirror was physically flipped to create this effect.

2. The inability to see through the supposed one-way mirror, which isn’t physically possible due to the imbalanced lighting between the two rooms? Intentional.

Ex 1: We ought to be able to see the Gate through this mirror shard, since the Gate is brighter than the Rainbow Room on the other side of the mirror.

Ex 2: The Rainbow Room is brighter than the observation room in this shot. We should be able to see El's feet and the table flickering in and out of view while the lights flash, but we don't.

This is a function of the mirror most likely not being one-way in real life. This is a choice. It would have been so easy to work with a literal one-way mirror in these scenes for accuracy, and the one way mirror would have functioned in accordance with its physical properties...but this mirror doesn't. They didn't use a one-way.

3. The missing gate reflection is intentional. We should be able to see it reflected directly in front of El.

Justin Mitchell (Scanline VFX Supervisor for Stranger Things) explicitly tells us that better funding and more help allowed them to do more, better VFX than before. He also makes a point in the interview to tell us that the rifts and lighting thereof was a major to-do:

It's all intentional.

Post-production DNEG, Scanline VFX and Milk VFX provided the visual effects for the sequel (with DNEG also handling the 3D conversion). Pete Bebb and Gavin Round served as production visual effects supervisor and production visual effects producer respectively.

Live-Action Series "Yu Yu Hakusho" Premieres Worldwide on December 14, 2023

Netflix has finally confirmed the premiere date and released two teasers on their twitter and official site. The soundtrack and the spirit gun seems cool. We're still waiting for a trailer and the rest of the cast announcement. I was surprised to know it took 5 years to produce this first season.

Furthermore, it has been decided that a special event called "The Eve of the Decisive Battle - Worldwide Fastest Screening Meeting” will be held in Tokyo on the eve of the distribution, December 13! Detailed information including guests and how to apply will be announced at a later date on the official site of the event: yuhakuevent.com. The applications start in about 30 days, so I'm wondering if that's when the trailer and full cast will be unveiled as well.

They might show an advance screening of the first episode. I'm assuming the guests are going to be the actors and director, but it would be a dream if Togashi-sensei showed up.

Today was even colder than yesterday 🥴

AM: We visited Scanline VFX, one of the greatest VFX studios in the industry. They have worked on many renowned shows such as Stranger Things on Netflix and even Marvel movies. They are well known for their water simulations which propelled them to fame. I gained a lot of insight into the VFX industry thanks to the sharing by the studio :D After the visit, we stopped by Insadong for lunch! I had bibimbap with soybean soup.

PM: We arrived at Daegu for SIGGRAPH tomorrow. Dinner was such an interesting experience. In the restaurant, we sat on a platform off the floor that was really warm and helped to keep the chills away.
