Today, I am almost 3 weeks post-op. I decided that I wanted (needed) to make cookie dough with the remaining Christmas chocolate we had lying around. Baking makes me happy and I was tired of snacking on the same chocolates day after day.

About half way through mixing, I realized I was not yet ready for such a task. But decided to finish it because I was home alone and knew I could rest this evening while my partner made us dinner and cleaned.

But while he was busy doing various household tasks, ones we typically would share but I am currently unable to manage, I could hear my parent's voices in my head. "If you can make cookie dough, you can make rice."

I knew it wasn't a great idea. But I also figured "eh, it's just rice." Even though I was still hurting from my earlier kitchen adventure.

As I was washing the rice for our dinner, I realized how bad of a mistake it was. Lifting the pot and dumping out the dirtied water again and again was only hurting me more.

I think it is funny that even as an almost 30 year old, engaged and living in my own space, the same old voices from my childhood come creeping in.

So if you are also recovering, from surgery, overdoing it, or otherwise, take it from me:

Someone else can make the rice. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Lie down. Rest. And maybe eat some cookies.

Hello! Rin here! (@kathxrat-01) I'm super excited to actually have a reason to draw YAI Official Art! Finally. Oh my god. Anyways. I just wanted to test a new way of drawing eyes. And tears, so I figured why not draw my dearest Cynthia! No harm in that right? Since my native language is Chinese, I figured I needed to get some writing practice in, so that's why you'll be seeing it in my drawings from now on. Good morning sunshine! Welp. That's the name of our SWAK Jam project! You can find the full summary here!

The full title is Full Moon Kiss: into the Meat Eater's Den, because I'm incapable of making short titles 😂

The character art above is by Mustard. The BG art is by Rien. We will be including partial voice acting in this game, similar to how SYVNH was done. Our main character, Emil, will be voiced by Austin!

We've made good progress on the game within the first week of the jam. The script has over 14k words within 7 days of writing... How did I do that? Don't ask, I'm a little burnt out hahaha...

But I will keep going.

All these delicious descriptions of food are giving me motivation. I'm not planning to do food art, but I might want to add it post jam? I miss designing and drawing food. And lately, I keep thinking about how delicious various cuisines are...

Side Character Syndrome

This is not a visual novel project (although it was originally planned to be). It will be a webnovel. I'm a little unsure as to how to advertise it yet but hopefully by the time everything launches, I'll have a lot written for folks to read <:

Writing for this story made me achieve 10k+ words written in 5 days. I'm a little scared of myself...

I've talked about this idea a bit in the past.

It is a story that's based slightly on my experiences growing up in an immigrant family. It quickly devolves into a Xianxia fantasy, though. Since I started enjoying Xianxia/Danmei stories, I always thought it'd be funny to have a Chinese-American character transmigrate into ancient China... and not knowing how to speak Chinese.

So that's where this story comes from. Kevin, who's born in America and doesn't know much about his family's culture gets transmigrated into the body of a villainous side character from the cdrama he's watching. He may know the plot, but he can't communicate with anyone! Turns out he was relying on those subs much more than he thought...

hot water bottle (can be filled with ice water for a more comfy ice pack, the ones they give after surgery can be really uncomfortable)

hard candy to help with possible nausea on the ride home

stuffed animal to hold in car (for bracing over bumps in the road, physical support, and comfort)
