Pre-Orders Now Open for “Many Drops Make a Stream” by Adrian Harley!
Tumblr media
Pre-orders for Adrian Harley’s debut sapphic fantasy novel Many Drops Make a Stream are now open!
A memory-stealing cult. The ever-watchful City of Eyes. Making small talk. Join Droplet as she faces all these horrors and more…
Vigilante shapeshifter Droplet has trained her entire life to take down those with more power than scruples, but she still makes mistakes. When a rescue mission goes wrong, a memory-stealing cult of blood mages escapes with kidnapped captives in tow. To save them, Droplet reluctantly teams up with the outgoing, tenacious Azera. Droplet knows better than to trust a human—she made that mistake once, and that person’s betrayal scattered her community across the known world—and she can tell Azera is hiding secrets behind her sunny smile. But if they can’t learn to work together, even Droplet’s own memories could be lost.
Many Drops Make a Stream, Adrian Harley’s debut novel, is the stand-alone first book in a series of related fantasy-mystery-heists featuring the shapeshifter Droplet and the friends and found family who work alongside her to fight the corrupt powers-that-be. No, seriously, I need to read those books, preferably in my native language. A Dark And Drowning Tide seems similar to Nevermore webtoon!

Love Beyond The Holy Light Vol 1 Rough Draft Is Now On My Patreon!
Tumblr media
[Art by the ever amazing Remus M. J. ]
My Lesbian fantasy novel Love Beyond The Holy Lights rough draft is up for people to read on my Patreon at the 5 dollar+ Tiers. This is a rewriting of the original free volume 1 web novel now with lots more experience as a writer and a lot more perspective.
The story centers Sammy a Paladin who's partner Serena was turned into a vampire when they slayed the Vampire Queen and vanished from her and Jillian a witch who's daughter Serena was taken by the Paladins and made into one of their own sent on a ques by the Holy order to kind and kill the Monster Princess.
This is a story about love and all the different ways it forms for oppressed people under religious domination. This is a story about a lesbian vampire and her closeted lesbian Paladin crush. This is the story about a nun who finds every part of herself challenged by a witch. This is the story of a family broken apart by the cruelty of the state. This is the story of a town and the way they came together. This is a critique of fantasy and the oppressive models it's created. This is a story about love and how it can change the world.

I just need to show y’all. Of all the insanely sapphic moments in Rebecca. This is the one that made me feel the gayest.
She said nothing for a moment. She stared at me, and then she smiled. “Suppose it suits me better to live here, what then?” she said.
“You know the conditions,” I said, “Ive kept my part of our dirty, damnable bargain, haven't I? But you've cheated. You think you can treat my house and my home like your own sink in London. I've stood enough, but by God, Rebecca, this is your last chance.”
I remember she squashed out her cigarette in the tub by the divan, and then she got up, and stretched herself, her arms above her head. “You're right, Max,” she said. “It's time I turned over a new leaf.”
She looked very pale, very thin. She began walking up and down the room, her hands in the pockets of her trousers. She looked like a boy in her sailing kit, a boy with a face like a Botticelli angel.
…She threw back her head and laughed. “What sort of a story could Frank tell against mine?" she said. “Don't you know me well enough for that?”
…She stood watching me, rocking on her heels, her hands in her pockets and a smile on her face. “Do you realise that I could get Danny, as my personal maid, to swear anything I asked ber to swear, in a court of law? And that the rest of the servants, in blind ignorance, would follow her example and swear too? They think we live together at Manderley as husband and wife, don't they? And so does everyone, your friends, all our litle world, well, how are you going to prove that we don't?”
She sat down on the edge of the table, swinging her legs, watching me. “Haven't we acted the parts of a loving husband and wife rather too well?" she said. I remember watching that foot of hers in its striped sandal swinging backwards and forwards, and my eyes and my brain began to burn in a strange quick way.
“We could make you look very foolish, Danny and I” she said softly. We could make you look so foolish that no one would believe you, Max, nobody at all.” Still that foot of hers, swinging to and fro, that damned foot in its blue and white striped sandal.
Suddenly she slipped off the table and stood in front of me, smiling still, her hands in her pockets. “If I had a child, Max,” she said, “neither you, nor anyone in the world, would ever prove that it was not yours. It would grow up here in Manderley, bearing your name. There would be nothing you could do. And when you died Manderley would be his, You could not prevent it. The property's entailed. You would like an heir, wouldn't you, for your beloved Manderley?”
…She waited a minute, rocking on her heels, and then she lit a cigarette and went and stood by the window. She began to laugh. She went on laughing, I thought she would never stop.
…She turned round and faced me, smiling, one hand in her pocket, the other holding her cigarette. When I killed her she was smiling still. I fired at her heart. The bullet passed right through. She did not fall at once. She stood there, looking at me, that slow smile on her face, her eyes wide open...
I think the reason that Maxim’s description of Rebecca’s mannerisms and character is so impactful is because she’d never been truly described before. Even when Danvers told the main character about how she viewed Rebecca, it was much more generalized and vague. Maxim is talking about a specific event and how Rebecca acted. Additionally, the pieces of Rebecca’s character that are given beforehand build up to this ultimate revelation. Nothing much to say about it besides the fact that when I read it, it was SO vidid and clear in my mind. I love this book.

Hollywood Hearts by Toni Logan
Tumblr media
“Hollywood Hearts” by Toni Logan is an enemies-to-lovers romance about a fairly famous actress, McKenzie, who unknowingly falls for a paparazzo, Rylee. I was skeptical about this setup as I, like McKenzie, have negative feelings for paparazzi. I wasn’t sure how Rylee could be depicted as a good person and paparazzi at the same time. And how the issue of celebrity and paparazzi could be resolved.
I thought the book was a cute romance and had some interesting side characters as well. My main issue was the pacing. Over halfway through the book Rylee and McKenzie had barely interacted. So when they did finally get together, their feelings felt rushed and underrepresented in the pages. I wish the book had spent more time on them together and explored more of the conflict that could arise from a celebrity dating a paparazzi.
Overall, “Hollywood Hearts” has an interesting premise but did feel like it could be fleshed out more thoroughly. I did enjoy the read and had a good time with it. If you’re a fan of celebrity romances, I would recommend checking this out.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books, Inc. for the digital ARC!

I read this in a NYT piece by Melissa Kirsch, and I had to share because my spouse and I started reading to each other a few years ago, and it has become one of our favorite activities together. Story time in a moment but first, the bit that moved me from the article:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started getting into queer fantasy novels a couple years ago, when I read Girls of Paper and Fire, its sequel, and desperately waited for the third book to come out. Before then most of my queer written content I consumed through, no surprise here, fanfiction. So fantasy was something I rarely got sprinkled into my queer reading.
Anyway, I loved this trilogy so much and I wanted my spouse to read it too, but I wanted to experience it with them, like watching a show or a movie. I think they were the one to suggest I read it to them. And I actually love reading aloud, although usually I only ever did it by myself, to find typos and mistakes in my own writing. So we decided to try it.
My spouse and I don’t do well with audiobooks because we need to be able to follow along, see the words. One of us reading aloud from a book while cuddling in bed together… problem solved!
It has since become one of our favorite activities to do together. I’ve read them some of my favorite sapphic books, and they’ve read to me books that they hadn’t even read yet but that they wanted to experience with me.
When I got hooked on a new fandom last year (Shadowzel) and wasn’t feeling like reading books, and I couldn’t shut up about my favorite fics, they once again suggested I just read those to them. So I did. And then I ended up reading them my own fics, which was infinitely more scary because those are my words and ideas, but has since become just such a joyful activity to me and them.
We’re about to start a new book soon, I’ve been reading to them quite a lot lately (CaitVi fics haha) and so they’re going to read to me next. Every night we’ll curl up in bed together and they’ll read. I actually follow along better by looking at people’s lips when they read, so I’m pretty sure we look super fucking adorable when I’m staring at them while they read to me. Occasionally I’ll look at the pages to make sure I understood something right. We look up and learn words we don’t know together—or if one of us knows a word the other doesn’t, we pause to fill each other in.
It’s exactly what Melissa says in her article. It’s cozy. At first, it’s strange and exciting. It’s a performance and a way to hear how someone else interprets a character and their words, or show your own interpretation. It’s such a unique way to share in media with someone you care about, taking in the story through someone else, or gifting it through your own voice. I can’t recommend it enough.

I swear I have never felt a pain like rn when I went to my writing app where I've been writing my book only to realize the app didn't sync when I moved to my new phone and there's no way to log into the same account so I just lost literally everything I've ever written for this book and it took so long to get motivation to write for it again and I can't 😭😭

Her Spell That Binds Me is available now!
Thank you to all who preordered!
Summary:
A spellbinding rivalry unraveled by fate...A sapphic romance born from the ashes of prejudice…A Regency Era tale of lust and magic.
Iona's magic thrives in ways that defy explanation.
The threads of fate pull Iona to Lysander College, an illustrious school for aristocratic witches of great renown. Though Iona is only a novice witch with no ancestral claim to old magic, her anomalous power garners the unwanted attention of imperious witches in her class.
Ariadne is a prodigy of magic descended from a prestigious bloodline of witches.
Ariadne is her family’s one hope of maintaining their noble status in high society. When Iona arrives at college under mysterious circumstances, wielding magic that somehow rivals Ariadne’s, she makes it her vendetta to put Iona in her place.
The scholarly witches of Lysander College share one common goal: to claim the coveted pendant of Morgan Le Fay.
Within the pendant's shimmering stones lies indomitable power, which can only be claimed by the witch who wins Morgan’s arcane trials in Spring. Ariadne must claim the pendant for her family or face the consequences should she fail. Ariadne will not let Iona steal her victory, though she might steal her heart.
Her Spell That Binds Me is an F/F rivals to lovers, dual POV, dark fantasy romance novel. Contains mature themes.

This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron-
When Briseis's aunt dies and wills her a dilapidated estate in rural New York, Bri and her parents decide to leave Brooklyn behind for the summer. Hopefully there, surrounded by plants and flowers, Bri will finally learn to control her gift. But their new home is sinister in ways they could never have imagined--it comes with a specific set of instructions, an old-school apothecary, and a walled garden filled with the deadliest botanicals in the world that can only be entered by those who share Bri's unique family lineage.
When strangers begin to arrive on their doorstep, asking for tinctures and elixirs, Bri learns she has a surprising talent for creating them. One of the visitors is Marie, a mysterious young woman who Bri befriends, only to find that Marie is keeping dark secrets about the history of the estate and its surrounding community. There is more to Bri's sudden inheritance than she could have imagined, and she is determined to uncover it . . . until a nefarious group comes after her in search of a rare and dangerous immortality elixir. Up against a centuries-old curse and the deadliest plant on earth, Bri must harness her gift to protect herself and her family.
From the bestselling author of Cinderella Is Dead comes another inspiring and deeply compelling story about a young woman with the power to conquer the dark forces descending around her.
The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi-
Sylah dreams of days growing up in the resistance, being told she would spark a revolution that would free the empire from the red-blooded ruling classes’ tyranny. That spark was extinguished the day she watched her family murdered before her eyes.
Anoor has been told she’s nothing, no one, a disappointment, by the only person who matters: her mother, the most powerful ruler in the empire. But when Sylah and Anoor meet, a fire burns between them that could consume the kingdom—and their hearts.
Hassa moves through the world unseen by upper classes, so she knows what it means to be invisible. But invisibility has its uses: It can hide the most dangerous of secrets, secrets that can reignite a revolution. And when she joins forces with Sylah and Anoor, together these grains of sand will become a storm.
As the empire begins a set of trials of combat and skill designed to find its new leaders, the stage is set for blood to flow, power to shift, and cities to burn.
