been seeing a lot of dad! jay so i wanted to share my take on it :) lore is under the cut !!

TW abuse ! ALSO i am no means a writer and i’m definitely illiterate and this is my first time ever writing my ocs lore down (usually i keep it in my brain) so i hope it’s easy to understand 🥲 anywho

Ino is from the kingdom of wildness and is an oni. in oni cultural the runt of the litter is used to do all their dirty work, Ino being the weakest and youngest of his ‘family’ is abused, and treated like a slave.

when jay finds him he is malnourished and neglected, his hair is long and tangled, he has bruises and cuts on his face and old unclean bandages wrapped around his body. The oni have no use for ino, despite him doing all the chores around his house so jay buys him off of them.

it basically goes like this lol

jay- how much for the kid.

oni - ?????? bruh idk like 3 bucks

jay- k. *takes ino and leaves*

after the merge,Jay had taken refuge on a small inhabited island with a few other people from ninjago, they create a village, and are living quite nicely despite them living in a new world. Jay takes Ino to his home and get him cleaned up, but not a single time had ino said a word to jay, did they speak the same language? had he been so scared that he wouldn’t say anything? well it was both. Ino is in-fact, scared and can only speak the old tongue of the oni. Never in his life had he meet a human before, well besides that one fiery girl with red hair, who’s dragon attempted to eat him. but he didn’t count her, she was…. interesting. He did not speak their human language and he looked so different from him so why did the man in blue take him in? but that didn’t matter anymore, Jay had washed him up, gave him fresh clothing, cut his overgrown hair and nails as well as give him a name, a home, and most importantly, a family.

time skip a few years (it can vary depending on how long you think the merge timeskip was)

as time goes by jay teaches ino how to fight and how to maintain his oni powers, along the line he learns spinjitzu. a few years later when jay is corrupted by the kingdom of madness, he loses his memories and joins the administration, unknowingly jay passes his elemental power down to ino as way of saying goodbye.

and that’s kinda what i have lolz, somewhere along the line sora and arin see him doing spinjitzu and are like WOAHHH join our ninja team!!! but he doesn’t cause he’s awkward and wants to keep the jay situation a secret.

some facts! ~~

- ino is quite smart and it did not take him long to learn the ninjago language

- Despite being oni he mostly stays in his human form for fear of being judge

- i draw him with horns, but he canonically doesn’t have them unless his emotions get the best of him and struggles to keep his human appearance

- when he was younger jay had told him many stories about lloyd and wu as his way of saying “well not all oni are bad”, he even mentions mystake but leaves the part of him being drugged by her(season 8)

- jay had given him the name Ino, he saw somewhere that it meant storm and was like COOL but he wasnt aware that it also meant bad

- when ino talks about jay he refers to him as his father or dad, but never actually calls him that (jay has no problem referring to ino as his son)

- before the merge, when ino was younger, he used to play with wildfyre and even prank the lava-tides together, but their friendship didn’t last very long due to the onis and dragons hating eachother ( heatwave wouldn’t let wildfyre play)

- ino meets arin sora and wildfyre in a random village, they get to know each other but later that night the village is attacked by a strange monster. ino loses control of himself when he sees his new friends get hurt and loses control of his oni self.

I find it a missed opportunity that Cole didn't play a role in Seabound with helping Nya unlock her Spinjitzu Burst; If you ignore The Island, which is basically part of the larger Seabound arc anyhow, Master of the Mountain comes right before and is all about Cole learning the Spinjitzu Burst. Given its requirements are to be surrounded by one's element, it's general fanon consensus that this was what Nya did when she unlocked the power of the sea.

Not only does this connect back to a previous season and make the show feel more intertwined, it also gives Cole something to do, builds off of his previous characterization, but also creates the opportunity for emotional conflict. He might be reluctant to teach Nya the Spinjitzu Burst upon hearing what happened to Nyad, or she may intentionally keep this a secret from him. When Nya does perform her big sacrifice, we could have Crystalized begin with Cole feeling guilt because he taught Nya the Spinjitzu Burst; Without it, she wouldn't have merged with the sea.

You could call back to Master of the Mountain again by having Cole ultimately make peace with what he did, by remembering his promise to Lilly, and recognizing that she would've done the same in Nya's place; He would've done the same in her place. In the end, all three chose to stand up to those who were cruel and unjust, to protect those who could not protect themselves.

...That also gets me to another point; The beginning of Crystalized is so similar to the beginning of Tournament of Elements; Both arcs follow the emotional aftermath of the ninja splitting up after a member of their team performs a great sacrifice to defeat the villain and save the day, and eventually have to get together when they're given hope that their dead teammate isn't so dead after all.

I really wish Crystalized hearkened back to that period where the ninja mourned Zane, because it would've been both a sensible callback, and a way to differentiate this arc from that one, by building off of the one which came before. Maybe the ninja ARE still sticking together, with Zane being different in that he's never had to mourn a teammate before; He was the sacrificial teammate the first time. That could lead to him turning off his emotions.

But while on the surface, the ninja seem to be handling it better than with Zane, since they learned their lesson, they may still express their grief in other ways. Such as with Kai becoming more ruthless, which canon already teased at; Maybe this could tie into Lloyd's Oni arc. Like with Zane's sacrifice beforehand, Lloyd urges the team to stick together and this time they do. But like Kai, his frustration with himself for not being good enough, thus necessitating Nya's sacrifice, could lead to Lloyd being more ruthless as a ninja, which could transition into his struggle with the Oni half of him, Harumi's return, the revelation that the Overlord is his grandfather's misguided attempt to purge his Oni half, etc.

That last bit especially, which was left out of the final product, seems to be building up to a lesson about Lloyd not repeating the FSM's mistakes by accepting his Oni half, and he already knew Mystake, Garmadon was finding good in himself, plus the implications of an Oni getting together with a Dragon to create his bloodline... But nothing comes of that. Imagine if Lloyd didn't succumb to his Oni form, but instead accepted it, and by extension accepted the Overlord, absorbing him into his body and making peace with the darkness the way his grandfather didn't.

That could be more interesting than Oni Lloyd actually being evil after all, which is basically the same moral takeaway as canon, just explored differently. It also hearkens back to Star Wars, which Tommy Andreasen takes big inspiration from when writing Ninjago, and the climax of Hunted, if Lloyd chooses not to fight the Overlord, and wins because of it; Rather than fighting Fire with Fire.

Elemental “essences” are stupid

Yes, it’s helpful to have a term for them considering they operate differently than elemental powers, but I’m still upset about it (this whole post is because I did a deep dive on the wiki and need to throw down with something)

Creation

It’s Wu’s power, apparently, which makes sense and I’m actually okay with

What I’m less okay with is the whole mess with the Elements of Creation, because are they even related to this essence? How?? Why????

Whatever, who gives a shit. Creation is an elemental essence used by dragons. Wu wields it, and it has also been accessed via the Tornado of Creation and the Megaweapon (we’ll come back to this)

Destruction

Garmadon’s power! It comes from the Oni and has also been accessed by Lloyd. It’s distinct from darkness in a way that is far more clear cut than the other three

Darkness

Darkness comes from the Overlord, who is the only known wielder of this power*, though it has been used to corrupt many (including the Great Devourer, Nya, and a whole bunch of random innocents during the s2 finale)

Clouse uses “dark magic,” which may or may not be the same thing, the more I think about it the more Im leaning towards treating them as the same, but I could be convinced

Golden Power aka Light

Darkness’s counterpart, Golden power is the combination of the Elements of Creation with energy (according to the wiki, we’re going with it ig)

First used by the First Spinjitzu Master, it was also able to be unlocked by the Green Ninja who would then become the Golden Ninja and the Ultimate Spinjitzu Master (so golden power = spinjitzu?????)

Lloyd gave up golden power, returning its elemental components to the other ninja and leaving him with his original power of energy

But then the Overlord gets the combined golden weapons and forges them into armor and becomes the golden master, so the weapons of spinjitzu hold not only the power of creation, but also golden power (somehow????). I really thought I would be able to come out of this saying “golden power is creation+energy” but irdk if that holds up

Edit: wait a fucking minute, what if since Lloyd has the power of energy in addition to golden power, the Overlord got a disproportionate amount of energy when he was draining Lloyd, so he just needed more creation power to become the golden master and that’s why he was able to use the golden weapons/armor to get there?!?!!! That makes sense, right?

Energy

This bitch.

Lloyd is the only known user of this power. It is distinct from but connected to golden power, creation, and the elements of creations (which yes, I do treat as separate). He used energy long before he had access to golden power

Relation to FSM (this is all speculation (even more so than everything above))

Ok so I think he had access to creation, destruction, and energy. Creation and destruction came from his dragon and Oni heritage, respectively, but I propose that energy emerged from the coexistence of creation and destruction. But THEN when energy and creation are combined, we get golden power. Aka the FSM was a freak of nature: he had two powers simultaneously, which created a third one, and that third one combined with one of the first ones to create a fourth one

He never wielded darkness, and he never used energy as he already had the power of creation and he never isolated energy from it, primarily using golden power for most of his life

When he had his sons, the two inherited his two main powers (creation and destruction) separately, but as they both had both dragon and Oni blood, they could probably use the other power as well, but they don’t. Considering he only had two kids, the FSM sought out other means to pass on his remaining powers, this resulted in the creation of the prophecy of the Green Ninja, who would be destined to continue his battle against darkness and could unlock golden power. And because FSM is stupid, he never really paid attention to energy, and so it subsequently got passed to whoever his next descendant was (consequently Lloyd, who was also destined to be the Green Ninja). And thus Lloyd was born with the power of energy (of course, he would only access it later in life, like every other elemental master we meet), and as he fulfilled his destiny as the Green Ninja, he also unlocked golden power. He later gave up his golden power, splitting it into its components (the elements of creation and energy) and returning the elements to the other ninja. Lloyd kept the excess energy from this split, thus why he’s powerful af

Dragons Rising E11-15 Thoughts

Here’s some thoughts on each episode in the first half of Dragons Rising, Season 1 Part 2:

The Temple of the Dragon Cores:

The Merge music starts playing before the MergeQuake starts 

This does kinda make me wonder how many people in Ninjago have interacted directly with the Ninja

Commented last time on the other empty holes in the portal gate room, but I guess those are just used for dragon stables

“My bathroom is everywhere” tbf with all the dragons there Wyldfyre probably isn’t making things that much worse

Lloyd was fixing the monastery from where the bounty hit it in E4

Zane: “The world is gonna end” Lloyd: “yeah I knew that, can I get back to my plants?”

LaRow wait- what were you about to say about Lord Ras?

On one hand, Zane is really unintelligent in this scene. On the other hand, it’s nice to see the other Ninja just lounging around

This is such a strange resolution of this scene

Did the FSM actually create the other realms? or just the landmasses like he did with Ninjago

“It never came up” is prob true and also such a funny way to address that you’re actually the grandson of God

“And the Wyldness” isn’t that a whole realm? Imagine if the Spirit said one of the cores is “in Ninjago”— how would they know where?

Have any non-human characters had glasses in Ninjago (Glutinous had a monocle, but idk anyone else)

The crab’s tooth being planted is a leap in logic but I’ll take it to be true (meaning some mystery that’ll be resolved later)

So I know the Howlers aren’t ghosts (they don’t seem dead or alive) but they do remind me of Bansha

A “special energy” about Riyu? Why don’t you elaborate, Arrakore?

Arrakore’s lower body looks like cotton candy

“The Howlers will hunt you to the ends of the known realms and beyond” I assume this is a figure of speech but it would be wild if the Howlers could follow someone into and out of Nether-Space, for example

“No one is ever powerless!” It’s true but also funny that Nya says stuff like this as if her arc in Crystalized made sense and actually proved this (obv it’s clear that the writers thought it did)

Good lesson from Zane

Having a Djinn on your side is pretty overpowered, so they’re clearly trying to limit Arrakore’s abilities

Easily the best of the 5 episodes covered today, although E13 is solid too and none are outright bad

All this talk of shattering all the good inside someone is reminding me of a certain other spell used to remove all the goodness from Garmadon back in season 8, but I doubt they're actually meant to be connected.

Slightly disappointed that the pink Serpentine isn't Skales' wife.

Euphrasia couldn't take on the master of Smoke, the elemental master she probably has the best type match up against? I don't wanna sound like one of those fans, but jeez, Morro would have destroyed this guy.

The Kai-Nya siblings dynamic continues to be on point.

Wyldfyre continues to be the best character.

I was honestly expecting Sora's fear dream to be more of the same insecurities we saw from her last season, but she actually has moved past that and now she's afraid of having to go back to Imperium. I was pleasantly surprised by that.

Oof, Nya's dream is giving me so many feels. This is foreshadowing, isn't it?

Ah, the dragon masters. The fact that dragons can learn spinjitzu honestly makes sense to me, all the way back in the pilot, I thought the way the dragons spun around in order to travel to the other realms was obviously related to Spinjitzu.

I like that Rontu is basically just a typical gym coach in dragon form.

Egalt, on the other hand... Well, I do really like his design. But man, he's just every bad "teaching" method from Wu rolled into an even grumpier old man. Talking down to his students, constantly being negative instead of giving positive reinforcement, no clear instructions, giving no answers or even hints to Arin's question, nothing! Maybe I care about this more than other people because I've worked as a teacher on and off for years, but even when I first started watching the show, back when I was still in college, I was already noticing these things about Wu and they already bothered me.

Anyway, calling it now, the students from "last time" Egalt keeps vague-ing were Wu and Garmadon, and Wu learned all his bad "teaching" methods from this guy.

Bonzle being a living spell is weird, but honestly not that out of the question for a crazy fantasy world like Ninjago.

Ok, so I'm going to break the first rule of enjoying Ninjago and think about the timeline. Judging by what Wu said, I'm guessing Bonzle ran into him some time early in season 2? And when did all this with the Forbidden Five happen?

Anyway, very excited to see where this is going, if only I didn't have to work today.

Here's some of my Oni headcanons (+ some stuff about my au and Amaya, the Oni mother of the spinjitzu brothers):

TW: mention of blood

Oni saliva actually works the same way as rubbing alcohol and antibiotics. It can clean wounds and prevent infection. I feel it's this way because if an Oni was injured while fighting, they need to keep the wound clean till it heals or can get fixed up properly (Half Oni saliva isn't as effective, but that never stopped Garmadon till he almost got an infection)

Oni blood is purple and also extremely bitter to the point where you immediately get nauseous if you taste it. Unless you're a dragon or another Oni. Consuming Oni blood gives you the ability to transform, but only the elemental Dragons in my au have done this

Oni can purr, and only do so when alone or with someone they trust. They also have a nesting habit, and will usually do it for sleeping or comfort. Garmadon and Lloyd do this the most, and has their own stash of pillows and blankets so they don't steal someone else's (but they probably did at some point anyway lol)

Oni have high regeneration and healing abilities, able to regenerate full limbs. But oni full blooded Oni can do that, as a part oni can't. Their wounds still heal quite fast though, so it's not a total loss.

The only things that can kill an Oni are another Oni and a Dragon.

An Oni can have either black or white hair, no matter the age or gender. Sometimes there are Oni with light grey or dark grey hair. It is possible for Oni to be born with four arms instead of two.

All Oni have tails.

Baby oni are called cubs, but Garmadon and Wu were called man cubs due to being only part oni. Only Amaya ever called the two her cubs though. In my au, Wu and Garmadon are twins, Wu just looks older due to the stress from training students. (Both brothers are around 345 y/o (60-70 in human age)

Male and Female Oni take turns when raising their young, making sure the cubs learn things from BOTH parents, not just one. Oni society do not have gender roles, so it's actually the oldest oni who leads the family, no matter the gender. Female Oni are still very respected, as they give life to their kind. They also lead hunts more often, which gives way for female Oni warriors too (Amaya was one)

Oni are very physically strong, able to easily crush skulls with a single kick or stomp. They only ever use weapons as back up. They also have strong legs, especially for jumping or running as they don't exactly sit and wait when hunting other creatures. An Oni and even half Oni can jump up to 30+ feet

Oni have heightened senses and reflexes. They also have a sixth sense, where they are able to tell how someone is feeling without even looking at them. It's basically like sensing an aura. Oni also use this to tell if danger is nearby. This sixth sense ties into their good parenting.

Despite being creatures of destruction, Oni can be gentle, especially if one of their own is hurt. Oni are loyal to their families, and very rarely do betrayals happen, only ever due to miscommunication.

Half Oni live up to 600 years, while full-blooded oni can live for thousands of years.

Amaya and Mystake are close like sisters, and have been friends ever since they were cubs.

Oni are very flexible and are even double jointed. This comes in handy when hunting, along with their strength of course. They also have very strong claws and teeth.

Oni can lower or raise their body heat based on the temperature of the outside environment

half Oni are more easy to kill than full-blooded oni, as they aren't as capable of regenerating whole parts of their body and they can die of complete blood loss if their injury isn't tended to fast enough, especially if it's a serious one

Oni have very strong and flexible feet, and they are able to easily grip onto things like edges of buildings and stuff

The tale of Wojira..

It has ties all the way to the First Realm, when the Oni and Dragon war took place. In fact, this story takes place during.

Long before time had a name.. It was only 'then' and 'now'.

A Dragons elemental power(Fire, Ice, Earth, etc.) you see, would remain despite the Dragons soul passing on over to the Departed Realm. You know how Lloyd was possessed by Morro? Think like that, two beings one body. The same applied to the Oni. Due to the war, there was so much elemental power/essence that were left behind by the souls that they got lost in the Ethereal Divide (the space between the realms) when they attempted to follow the souls of the fallen.

Eventually, the elemental power/essence began to form its own realm. Called the "Realm of Remnants." This realm is similar but different to the Departed Realm, "spirits" live here. (Dinosaurs, prehsitoric animals like mammoths)

Yet.. there was a weird individual in the Realm of Remnants, one that didn't fit within the beast that called the realm home.

Baby Dragons, Wind Dragons and Water Dragons were being killed en masse back in the First Realm.. the Oni having found one of the nesta further away from Firstbourne's protection. And so, the Oni began to purge them all for weapons. The surge of elemental energy created a monster in the Realm of Remnants.

Wojira.

Wojira was a serpent, a spirit that brought the storm with her. The thunderous storm would ravage the coastlines and swamps, the monster searching for a way to find her killers. Only going dormant when a group of animals came together to send her into dormancy by defeating her. But even then, she was not at peace.

She slept for a long time, and the only thing the beast worried about was when she'd wake up. Seeking revenge against her killers.

A shift in the Etheral Divide was what did it. the Realm of Remnants felt the shift, thinspots in the realm caused animals to disappear. One weakspot caused Wojira to wake up..

And she went through, but it wasn't an unintentional weakspot, no. She was being "summoned" somewhere.

She emerged in the First Realm before a group of Oni that dared attempt to subugate her, trying to steal her powers of wind and water with these.. artifacts. Wanting to use her to gain an upper hand against the Dragons in the war. She killed them in her vengeance and stole the amulets that would later become the Amulet of the Storm and Amulet of the Waves, embedding them on her head as she disappeared into the Ethereal Divide...

And then re-emerged in a realm that wasn't hers.. but covered in snow and ice. Mountains on either side of her, kissing the untouchable skies, where the winds and clouds gathered. Marking it as her territory, it would later be then called:

"Wojira's Wrath" by the people of the Never Realm, for those who dared try to pass through trying to get to the other side, would dissappear if they awoke the slumbering serpent. Bearing her fangs and striking her prey down.

But you see, the realm was already a territory belonging to somebody else; The First Spinjitzu Master

The First Spinjitzu Master battled Wojira, as she was an invasive predator - a rival. In his realm. She nearly won, too, if it wasn't for the help of the people who lived there. Let's say he would've never had Wu or Garmadon. (This is why Wu says the FSM almost never came back from the NR)

She escaped into the Ethereal Divide once more, conquering the realm that was without name.. but would then become Ninjago once the FSM had healed- wanting to settle the score against his enemy. The battle was fierce, people fought and died as she was a tyrant to their livelihoods.

Until Nyad, a friend to the FSM, rose up and defeated the storm serpent. The FSM, aside from Nyad, being the only one able to wrestle the amulets off of the Dragon, were able to pry them off of Wojira's head. Giving the Amulet of the Storm to the Islanders and the Amulet of the Waves to the Merlopians

okay so the two brother gods are both the God of light and dark these are gonna be Wu and Garmadon, we know that the tree aka the blacksmith created them so by default it'll be the first spinjitzu master, he created the ever after in this case the first relem to be a starting project for his sons and thus they began to create just like in cannon in this case the dragons would be the equivalent to the curios cat and the oni the jaberwalkers. Both of the sons/gods were made to be dragon and oni beings made to create and destroy. And so they created the door and were sent on a mission create the 16 relems with the last one being the home relem of ninjago/remnant and so everything plays out the same salem throws a tantrum at the gods and then she gets the people to try and kill the gods. And then they all die. After a few thousand years and salem being a bitch baby bro she tries to go into disctron goop and becomes a fake oni. So we get to the main time and ozma is still cannon, we have Wu creating the elemental masters by being able to grant him the element of creation, while Garmadon fed up turns evil and doesn't flaunt his God hood. Instead he mipulates and controls from the shadows, he eventually leaves that behind when he is found out by the last elemental master aka Koko is the current elemental master of creation. Creation is the only one that is random all the other elements work like the madainsthis is how all of the elemental btw, the last sentence preson who is able to handle the power of said element is the new elemental master. So yes lloyd is born and Garmadon is his father and we get sensai Garmadon so we get some fluff. Lloyd is like the first humans of rement able to use magic although it's not much and he doesn't know how to use it, he does have an aura and a semblance just like the rest of the world. The more Minor elemental masters only have a very small amount of magic and their transfers operate in the same way. The great war did happen and ozma is the same

Lloyd is from argus and he always thought he was a bull fanus but it was his dragon horns from his father. He is a dargononi and like his father he has a fully non human form wich is a dragon he still has oni form but can't unlock it as he doesn't actively seek to distory unlike his father along with that he only knows about his mother being a retired huntress

Kai and nya are from mistral and both become elemtal masters at 10 and 7 after their parents forfit their powers with nya being in the last thing in her mother's thoughts and kai being the last in father's thoughts their parents were taken by salem

Jay became an elemental master when he was born and is from vale still the elemental master of lightning

Zane is from altas and is similar to penny and is the elemental master of ice through an aura transfer

Morro is alive and is the elemental of wind and is planing on transferring his powers onwards

Sora is a mankune cat fanus and is from atlas she has a prostic arm and tail along with that she became an elemental master about volume 7 and is not aware about her powers

Wildfyre is one half of the elemental master of heat and is still salty about cinder being the other half of the elemental master of heat, she is a kimono dargon faunus and is from manjarie her trait is the vemon of a kimono dargon. She only knows about cinders whole thing in voulme 5 after trying to get to anima aka mistrial

Cinder is the other half of the elemental master of heat and stole it from the former master the other half of the power. She only finds out about Wildfyre in voulme 5

Arin is a human from vale whose parents went missing after volume 3 and his aurua is below average and he has a quick learing semblance

Season 3/Rebooted - it’s suggested to be at least a year after the final battle so he has to be very close to 14 if he wasn’t already

Season 4/Tournament of Elements - again roughly a year later and also definitely how a traumatized 15 year old would act especially if he wanted to be perceived as older

Season 5/Possession - it’s at least a few months after the corridor of elders I’d say he’s still 15 but maybe he turns 16 during the season but probably towards the end

Season 6/Skybound - I know this season didn’t technically happen but since the ninja did hit the height of fame and it lasted long enough to get some contracts it’s been anywhere from 6 months-2 years. I know that seems like a lot but to have them actively making actively be making a tv show (in show) and for it to definitely be a ways into the season means they have been doing this while fighting crime so Lloyd is at least 17 but could be pushing 18

Season 7/Hands of Time - I’m going to say this isn’t too long after Skybound. Things have died back and the ninja have been allowed to step back from fame for the most part so Lloyd is still about that 17-18

Season 8/Sons of Garmadon- Lloyd is definitely an adult. I also refuse to believe that Harumi is 14 like I was told the creators said. She could maybe be 16. But yeah Lloyd is 18-19 depending on how the time stuff in Skybound

Season 10/March of the Oni - definitely 20 at this point. As a 20 year old I can confirm that is how I would act if my dad came back like that and started being a pain in the ass but I still needed his help to save the world

Season 11/Secrets of Spinjitzu - 21-22 the ninja got really slow so it might’ve been more than one year. They really thought they weren’t needed anymore and for the most part they were right but that’s a rant for another time

Season 12/Prime Empire - 23 at this point. He is so done with the other Ninja screwing off. He officially has realized that his older then they were they started out and he’s not cool which means they weren’t cool and he also wants to know why they can’t behave a little more responsibly. He only wants a little more responsibility not a lot

Season 13/The Island & Seabound - 24. Basically the same thing as 23 but he is definitely is just like what if I just stopped trying to save the people who cause problems on purpose and them he’s calling it setting boundaries

Season 14/Crystalized - it’s been exactly 1 year. This man is 25 and very depressed. The reality of Life is hitting him and I think he is realizing that he is going to outlive all of his friends which is why he pulled so far away from them. I think he was hoping it cause the others to follow him and then he could have them alive for a bit longer

Season 15/Dragons Rising - in the flashback he could be 27 at the youngest. When he appears in the show though he is 30 the youngest but probably 32

While Lloyd has always come off as very Autistic to me season 7 is where it really feels like it because they try to make Lloyd seem younger

things i remember about ninjago:

there are these 4 guys who are red blue black and. white (?) and theres a uhhhh ninjitsu monastery? and the old guy is definitely from the monastery but the guys arent or something. like two of them break into it and then. fight the others?? maybe?? oh theres something about like a marketplace and a caravan and they like get one of the guys from there. wait wait that was an episode where they traveled back in time or something right?? and there was like heavy machinery and a temple and something got torn down. anyways the four guys meet master wu and he trains them to be ninjas and use spinjitzu and they go to the woods (and at some point theres a mountain and a lava place and they have to jump on the pieces of floating stone over the lava lake). theres a big floating pirate ship that they drive around everywhere. at one point they're in a town and the blue one is doing something. at one point uhhh the girl shows up. only woman in the whole show. also the white ninja is either a robot or gets turned into a robot

anyways lord garmadon is the evil guy from the shadow realm and also he has a kid. the kid is younger than the other ninjas and he trains with them and hes a brat and at some point they do training exercises on the ship and he like hides under a bed or something. maybe breaks a lamp. theres a big legend about the Green Ninja and He is the green ninja but thats a surprise for later. ALSO THE GOLDEN WEAPONS there are golden weapons and they have to be very special to use them

theres a big thing with four or maybe five dragons in the city and its a big season finale thing, possibly where they kill garmadon? but also before or after that i know that theres the whole "the green knight is this kid and this kid is garmadons son !!!!!" thing. they also know lloyds mom and she owns a museum. theres like something with garmadon where for a bit he isnt evil and hes just some silver fox salt and pepper guy who probably tries to raise lloyd right and fails

after the thing with the dragons, at the beginning of the next season, one of the ninjas is like injured and he crawls out of a garbage truck and joins this awful phony martial arts place run by a weird elvis impersonator-like man. also around that same time, maybe before the dragons ?? theyre all like superheros and they train to protect the city or something. at one point before the dragons and the city they're in this junkyard and Oh yeah they all have their own like motorcycles. at one point there are these groups of snake/scorpion/reptilian anthros who are all running underground crime syndicates and theres like sewer system war tactics and a lot of drama

Season 14 and the Green Ninja

me? thinking about ninjago? it's more likely than you think.

Season 14 of Ninjago, Seabound, introduced the concept of the elements of Water and Wind not belonging to the First Spinjitzu Master(FSM), and instead to the storm serpent Wojira. While they could still be passed from parent to child, as seen with Maya and Nya, they were of different origins than the other elemental powers. (The Wind Dragon does exist in the First Realm and that's still weird. Maybe it's just super rare for dragons? Play off of Jay using wind back in S1 and say the Wind Dragon was a mutated Lightning Dragon like Stormbringer since they look similar??)

And we know there are four primary elemental powers (The "Elements of Creation"), being the ones held by the main ninja: Fire, Lightning, Earth, and Ice. There were obviously many more beyond those, ranging from power copying to controlling time itself, but those four were the base "blocks" for building Ninjago. It makes sense for Wu to recruit the Elements of Creation, as Creation would fight Destruction.

And really, it's been a bit odd since the start that it was Ice, instead of, say, Water. Water is essential for life as we know it, yet FSM used Ice to create the world. The meta explanation is probably Avatar: The Last Airbender, since that ended in 2008 and the first sketch of what would become Ninjago was done in 2009. Even with the pilots airing in 2011, ATLA would still be pretty fresh in the mind so keeping it to Ice makes sense.

But there wasn't an in-universe explanation. Just that "Ice was one of the four elements used to create Ninjago".

Until now, obviously. Because FSM never had Water. It was not his to control.

Circling back a bit, there's the Green Ninja prophecy. "One ninja will rise above the others and become the Green Ninja, the ninja destined to defeat the Dark Lord." Classic stuff. Kinda funny to look back on once you realize the ninja have distinct eyebrows and notice the dream version of the Green Ninja has Lloyd's eyebrows.

The only characters we ever see actively tested for Green Ninja Properties are Morro, Nya, and Lloyd. Nya's happens offscreen, but we know it happened. While Wu claims he thought one of the main four was destined to be the Green Ninja (and was surprised when Lloyd did have the power), I... kinda doubt it. At least in the context of the rest of the series.

The ninja were in fairly close quarters with their weapons, so if any of them were destined to become the green ninja, Wu would've been able to tell. They would have shone with wispy, green energy, even if they wouldn't float while being held. The last shot of the pilot is the team high-fiving with the weapons. If any of the four were going to be the Green Ninja, they would've likely started to glow right there and then. Wu claims in episode 10 "When the four weapons are laid out before the destined one, the weapons will react, revealing the identity of the Green Ninja", which could indicate holding them close wouldn't reveal anything.

However, the weapons aren't "laid out" before Lloyd, and are instead held up nearby until they begin floating. At least, they aren't laid out in the same way Wu lays them before Morro and Nya. This seems to indicate simply holding the weapons close to the Green Ninja will reveal their identity, though it's not entirely clear.

The prophecy also contains no specifications on how they'll rise above, or what powers they will have. While there is a later addition to the prophecy from Misako("For once the Green Ninja finds the instrument of peace, he will strike it and know the power of the Ultimate Spinjitzu Master"), there is still no statement on what the initial powers might be. Thinking back on it now, it makes sense that it wouldn't be one of the main four. Their elements were part of the same "group", being the Elements of Creation. You need all four combined to perform the Tornado of Creation. Together, they could face Destruction. Beyond that, they were elements FSM had.

After all, why would the Green Ninja wield one of the Elements of Creation, and not one of the elements FSM never had? The Dark Lord would be more likely to expect an element the man had, not one he could never wield.

Which is why Wu may have thought Morro was destined to be the Green Ninja. Though he had no other ninja for Morro to surpass, his powers were not from FSM. The same explanation applies for why he would test Nya, and not the other ninja. Knowing her mother's power (as of later seasons) was Water, the other element not belonging to his father, it made sense to see if she would take on the legacy. Nya's fighting was different as well, as she wished to prove to be just as strong without elemental powers. Which she does, through the use of her Samurai X mech, rising above the ninja and "defeating" them.

But neither of them were destined for the title. The powers inherited from Wojira, in one way or another, were not the key to destroy the Dark Lord.

It was the one who inherited the remaining essence of FSM in the form of Energy and the associated Golden Power who was destined to overcome the Dark Lord. Ultimately, the power used to help create Ninjago would take on forces hellbent on destroying it.

Now, I’m not going to try to justify my placements because we’d be here all week, so instead I’ll explain why the seasons that didn’t make the cut just don’t really do it for me

Legacy of the Green Ninja: the first half of this season is back to back bangers, but I just entirely lose interest when it comes to the actual dark island stuff. Idk why it just cannot hold my attention.

Rebooted: a fine season. It set us up beautifully for s4 and gave us a lot of incredible characters (Sensei Garmadon, Borg, Pixal), but it just messes with my sense of this universe so badly. That’s only kind of a complaint — because I actually find it super interesting to try to explain away — but it is majorly distracting for me personally and kinda just seems like poor planning. While this season did a great job with Pythor and managed to get me to kind of care about the Overlord, the nindroid army is woefully underdeveloped. Zane defends Pixal, saying she was just doing as she was programmed, but the same is true for literally all of them and we never even stop to entertain the notion that these nindroids also have the capacity to be, you know, people. That’s all pretty nitpicky tho, my real issue with this season is the stupid love triangle. Not to mention how forced Pixal’s existence is and how bland she is at first. I absolutely adore her as a character, but rebooted was just like “here’s a woman. she’s hot btw,” and I don’t really vibe with that.

Hands of Time: over hated imo, I feel like if the animation wasn’t noticeable worse than every other season we would all appreciate it a lot more. I think it actually did some really cool things, but you kinda lose me with the vermillion. Literally why are they there? The bad guys need lackeys, yeah, but why snake hivemind warriors? Idk, felt random and out of place. I feel like they could have also done more with the conflict between the Time Twins. Like they fundamentalists disagreed about what an ideal world looks like and they argue about it all the time, but they still work together like nothing happened? Anyway, all my complaints are fairly minor for this season, it’s just not much of a stand-out.

Sons of Garmadon: ninjago didn’t know what to do with itself after the movie came out and you can tell. They went more serious with the plot but the humor feels way more childish. It still hits most of the time, but it just feels off. I’ve come to like Harumi and her arc, but I feel like this season really suffers for it’s focus on her and Lloyd. It just lacks a lot of the team chemistry that makes ninjago ninjago imo. It’s all about Lloyd and the others are just kinda there, something that ninjago has impressively managed to never fall into before. What makes this series special to me is how it handles its characters and their dynamics, they all feel real and important, both to each other and to the story, but you could just say “yeah everyone’s dead” and the plot could more or less function as is. I do love what they did with Pixal tho.

Hunted: idk, it feels like they started to correct the whole issue I just talked about where none of the characters other than Lloyd matter, but the disconnect just doesn’t really do it for me. I’m fairly into the resistance plotline, and I’m kinda here for the First Realm shenanigans, but it’s just not really a stand out. S9 is always where I lose interest in my rewatch and I’ve never been able to figure out why. It does wonders for Lloyd and Nya’s relationship, and I am always here for lore, but otherwise I just kinda don’t care that much.

Seabound: she’s solid, it just doesn’t really stand out to me. Obviously having a Nya season is huge, but otherwise it’s just ninjago. That’s a good thing, but it also means it doesn’t stand out. I don’t really like Maya’s arc, and I’m really not a fan of how they just shoo Kai and Cole off to do a whole lotta not much. It felt so forced and unnecessary when s13 did a fucking superb job of keeping the rest of the cast busy and having it be entertaining, however I do recognize the real-world reasons at play so I don’t hold it against them. It does detract from my experience tho, and the rest of the season isn’t memorable enough to recover from that for me personally. Also it’s super shitty that they kill Nya off as soon as she gets to be the main character, they hate women so much and for what.

I mean, this AU’s still in its planning phase. Anything can change, since this is only the second draft-up. It’s always good to talk with others about ideas, because it makes it easier to figure out what you want to do, how you want to do it. Even talking aloud can help because getting the idea outside your head and hearing it can help improve and change it as needed.

MK’s Kaiju form doesn’t really change? I don’t know how to add to that perfection.

It takes everyone a lot of time to perfect learning Spinjitzu, but in the end the payout is immense since they’ve now gained a powerful ability. I did also plan on the Spinjitzu tornadoes changing once they unlocked the Full Potential. Like with Red Son’s Spinjitzu tornado color being more colorful as the color changes base from red to white with different fiery colors, like the dragons’ fire in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The bonding is a fun filler time weekend. Why have just action when you can also have fluff and family bonding?

I’ll only tell you this here. MK’s got cousins from his mom’s side in Ninjago. Distant cousins but cousins nonetheless. And that changes things immensely. =3

Also more GarmaDad moments happen over in Ninjago, so there’s also that.

The powers of self-reflection and realization are very powerful indeed but are unfortunately often underestimated.

Mm, not too differently, I think? MK still struggles with his identity. He’s got a lot of issues in figuring out his identity as the Monkie Kid, successor to the Monkey King. And not just that. MK had been called a monster, among other things, growing up, all because of how he looked. What’s that supposed to mean for him that his father is actually evil? Would MK and Lloyd turn evil too because of a chance of inheriting the curse that their father is under? Is he just making a mess of things by being the Monkie Kid instead of just being MK? And what even is being MK supposed to mean? MK’s got a lot of insecurities. So Reflection helps him in remembering that he’s also got people, people that he counts on just as they count on him, and that nobody’s too sure who they’re going to be until they’re already living that life. And that taking down the Spider Queen is one step in figuring himself out, especially because of the hostages she’s holding.

Garmadon and Wukong regularly talk. Because of that, Wukong is able to communicate better with others, and so he doesn’t go off by himself in the hopes of finding a way to stop LBD. The Samadhi Rings are still collected, but the plan is properly communicated with Wukong’s self-sacrificial bullshit long since nixed ever since the brothers took a sledgehammer to the walls around his heart.

Lloyd can and will swear if given even an inch to run a mile with. It’s hilarious what kind of swears he strings together.

I do like the season a lot, maybe MoM was a little more cohesive? Idk but it's not a big complain, I still love it so far 😍

Also maybe I would've liked more interactions between Nya and Maya about how they've been apart for so long, they had a chit chat but I would've loved even more. While I do make sense to Maya's behavior, that while it seems a little different from Hands of Time it had its logic in my opinion, maybe Ray feels a little weird? He seems less courageous than before, and it was established that he is a hothead like his son so that came off as unusual 🤔🤔

But I do love the fact that he's here and he's bonding with his son, for real, I've been waiting for this for so long so I'm happy nonetheless 🤩
