Commercial sell-outs 3
Laying out these scenarios: Only Twinkees save Archie when Reggie switches a frog for the flowers Archie gifts Veronica. Archie finds a loophole to make Twinkee time with a girl on the beach and not technically break a promise of fidelity with Veronica. Girls swarm around Jughead because of his Twinkees. It is all fitting with standard Archie fare.
I do not think that Hostess wants to be associated with Moose's jealous fist and jealous -- and it is out of character in that Dilton is not much at the receiving end like that. The bigger problem may be that the product does get in by this second tier -- even "Shut My Mouth" is probably pushing it with a last panel in second tier sneak-in. Though, we note the next one dropping into the first tier seems kinda contrived.
Yeah, but now Archie's car still does not work.
The Archies one is the very first Hostess ads, and shows an unnatural spec pasting job. Storywise, it is a -- sorry, buttheads, but they really do need to get paid in money, not junk food. And -- look! Another really awful sports team!

Yes, yes, Hades was indeed Just Some Guy, but also, he had Percy's mom turned into a gold statue. Percy, who only a few episodes ago also got turned into a gold statue. Percy, who knows exactly what that process feels like. Percy, who is twelve years old, so that chair was probably the scariest and most traumatizing thing that's ever happened to him.
And Hades used that against him. He didn't burst into flames in a fit of rage. He didn't need to. He knows how to punish people. He's ruler of the underworld. That's part of his JOB.
He is powerful and terrifying. He is the weird uncle. He is cold and callous. He is a goofy dad-joking little freak. He can be all those things and more.

November 1992, it is I, Erik Golding himself. I'm here to proudly share my drawings from math class.
This amazing piece shows Sally, our new classmate, very weird and creepy but already looks like a zombie, I respect that.
Also Mister Sheldon was a total bitch today to Travis and I, he spits each time he screams and he smells like a rotten dead rat.
Today I was particularly bored and came to the conclusion that Penny's hair looks like a piece of chewed gum. She'd look absolutely sick as a zombie. Also Phil was a real friend and gave me candy during class.
Mrs Packerton's face looks like it's a bunch of saggy tits sewed together.
Travis wasn't fond of me eating candy from Phil.
I got detention for drawing in math class so I had to pretend to do something. I'm lucky to sit behind Sal, he might be a freak but at least he's good enough at math to copy from him.
I drew Travis and Phil as well, Phil passed out and Travis was there too. He kept turning around a lot, maybe one day he'll snap his neck from looking at Fisher too often.
Also a sketch from a movie that came out recently, Beethoven? Bithoven? A movie about a dog, whatever. It was dumb but dumb enough to actually be funny.
Travis got a nosebleed today during history, I bet from his dad's parenting techniques. I wanted to make a design for grafitti but the P didn't fit into the page. I drew Travis to lift his spirits a bit and myself as a zombie.
Sal is starting to irk me, Travis is being weird about it.

are there any books you'd recommend for Isabelle of Angouleme?
Hi! I’m really not an expert on Isabella of Angouleme so I'm probably not the best person to ask for recommendations for her. Here are some I've heard of, though I haven't read all of them:
"Isabella of Angouleme: John's Jezebel" by Nicholas Vincent (King John: New Interpretations). I haven't read it myself but I've heard good things!
“Maternal Abandonment and Surrogate Caregivers: Isabella of Angoulême and Her Children by King John” by Louise J. Wilkinson (Virtuous or Villainess? The Image of the Royal Mother from the Early Medieval to the Early Modern Era). It focuses more-so on Isabella's tenure as queen, the period shortly after John's death, and her decision to leave England. Despite what the title may imply, it's sympathetic to Isabella and analyzes her situation in detail.
“Co-Operation, Co-Rulership and Competition: Queenship in the Angevin Domains 1135-1230” by Gabrielle Storey, her PHD thesis which collectively focuses on Isabella of Angouleme along with Empress Matilda, Eleanor of Aquitaine, and Berengaria of Navarre. You can read/download it here, it's an excellent piece for all four women.
Sally Spong has written/is writing:
Isabella of Angouleme: The Vanished Queen (Norman to Early Plantagenet Consorts). You can see her conclusion here. It's nuanced and sympathetic, though not without its issues and pre-conceived notions.
Isabella of Gloucester and Isabella of Angouleme: Female Lordship, Queenship, Power, and Authority 1189-1220 (PHD thesis University of East Anglia).
“Isabelle d’Angouleme, By the Grace of God, Queen” by William Chester Jordan. You can read it online here, though I will say that it's ... very very questionable, accepting the sensational claims of lot of unreliable sources (including the idea of John abducting Isabella in a fit of uncontrollable infatuation) entirely at face-value.
“The Marriage and Coronation of Isabelle of Angouleme” by H.G. Richardson, available here on JSTOR.
Isabella has also been the subject of two complete French biographies till date:
"Isabelle d’Angoulême, reine d’Angleterre" (Aquitaine: 1998) by Sophie Fougere.
"Isabelle d’Angoulême, comtesse-reine et son temps (1186-1246)" [Actes du colloque tenu à Lusignan, 8 au 10 novembre 1996] by Gabriel Biancotto, Robert Favreau and Piotr Skubiszewski.
There are also a few blog posts about her (here and here) which may help if you want a brief overview of her life, though they can get a little sensationalistic sometimes.
Hope this helps! If anyone knows any others, please feel free to add on!
