sorry i’ve never done this before hope these are ok requests
HI THIS IS PERFECT!!
I WROTE THIS FIC TODAY WHILE I WAS IN THE CAR/AT AN AMUSEMENT PARK SO IM SORRY IF IT SUCKS
CAMPBELL BAIN X MALE READER (PANIC ATTACK COMFORT)
cw: panic attacks (obvi)
reader gender: male (he/him)
Room 306 in St. Jude’s mental hospital was assigned to two boys, you, and your boyfriend. He was bipolar while you had generalized anxiety disorder. This led to regular panic attacks when unmedicated
Aforementioned boyfriend, Campbell Bain sat next to you, his arm wrapped loosely around your shoulders.
He was chatting away, some story about Eddie that you couldn’t hear through the pure adrenaline coursing through your body.
Every breath seemed to come and leave without making it any easier to focus. You’d had a rough day, too many loud sounds and people. They’d lowered your meds recently, which meant it took less to make you anxious.
This was definitely a panic attack.
Campbell’s voice faded out, without you noticing, and his hand transitioned from just holding you to rubbing your back.
“Hey,” His voice was gentle, and you turned from staring dead ahead to do your best to focus on him, “you ok? You’re shaking..”
You swallowed thickly, breathing starting to pick up in pace. It felt like someone was choking you. A few tears rolled down your cheeks, and Campbell immediately moved to wipe them away.
He had this soft look of concern written across his face.
“Woah, you’re ok,” He pulled you close, and even in your nonverbal state you managed to pull together enough sense to bury your head in Campbells chest, “You’re safe. I’m right here.”
He moved you to sit on his lap, leaning up against the headboard of the bed you were sitting on. Campbell slowed his breathing, hoping that you’d follow his example.
You drew in gasps of air, trying desperately not to suffocate. Everything was too much. The lights of the hospital felt blinding, and all the overlapping sounds of talking and air conditioning hums and nurses and music and-
Campbells palms came to rest over your ears, and you reached up your own trembling hands to cover his.
In all honesty he was scared they’d sedate you. He hadn’t seen you have a panic attack this bad in a long time. You shook in his arms, letting out a choked cry as you finally managed to pull in a full breath.
“There we go, that’s my boy,” Campbell brushed his fingers through your hair, mumbling soft words of praise to help you calm down, “You’re safe, i’m right here with you.”
You let out a pathetic whine in response, signaling to Campbell that you were conscious enough to hear him. You felt less like you were being choked now, and it was easier to breathe.
“good boy,” You could feel his heartbeat through his tear stained t-shirt, and you weren’t sure how long it had been since this started but you were glad he stayed, “just keep breathing. Nice deep breaths.”
It took a few more agonizing minutes for you to finally come back all the way, and while you were still a bit shaky, it wasn’t as bad as before.
Campbell watched from your shared bed as you pulled away and stood up, pacing with a hand pressed to your chest to try and calm down fully.
It felt too cramped in his arms. You stumbled every other step, but it was nice to keep moving.
after a minute or two you came back to bed, face red and blotchy but no longer crying.
“You feeling better?” He asked as you sat back down, smiling when he was met with a nod in response.
“Mostly.” You never felt too inclined to speak after panic attacks. It all just felt like too much.
“Good,” Campbell reached out for your hand, squeezing it three times before kissing your forehead, “Can’t have my boy out of commission, we still got a show to do.”
You laughed quietly, more a breath out than an actual sound. The positivity in Campbells voice was infectious.
You curled up in Campbells lap, head laying on his thigh while he stroked your hair.
He didn’t mind staying there while you slept. He’d wake you up when it was time, for now he’d let you rest.

Genuine question re: your last post about wearing a blondie t-shirt and coke in your nose. How can you do cocaine and not be addicted? I thought it was super addictive? Also doesn't weed and coke cancel each other out? You don't have to answer if you don't want to!
hey bud! no worries I am always happy to answer questions! so the short answer to both of these is pretty much no. but I'm also gonna give you the long answers if ur interested!
coke of course CAN be addictive, I personally am friends with a couple people who were addicted to coke at one point, but it's actually far less addictive than many other drugs prescription or not and it's of course dependant on the person. for instance, many people may find prescription anxiety medications like Xanax to be more addictive, and addiction to drugs in that class (benzodiazapine) are actually really dangerous, but many people are able to use these safely as well. it's also a pretty safe drug to take, provided it's pure, you are taking proper doses and you're not doing it all the time. I personally have only had it a few times because I barely feel anything with it due to chronic fatigue and stuff lol. and I know lots of other people who've tried it at clubs or parties and never really thought about it again!
basically, if like it's something you're interested in trying, be cautious as with any drug prescription or not. make sure it's from a reputable source, test it (for impurities) if you're not 100% sure it's been tested by someone you trust, research the proper doses and interactions with any other drugs (again prescription or not) that you are taking, and do it with a person you trust in a familiar environment. if you're prone to addictions then it might be something you want to skip, but again it's actually not quite as addictive as a lot of other drugs so if you're being safe with it it's a lot easier to step back from (this is based on experience my friends have had, I personally have never experienced any type of craving or addictive feeling with cocaine!)
second question: I have actually never heard this before lol! I'm guessing this is based on the fact that cocaine, like other amphetamines, is an "upper" while weed is a "downer". there aren't very many drugs that straight up negate each other (altho there are some! SSRIs like Zoloft will make MDMA and LSD pretty much entirely ineffective!) like that, it's more just that they change each other. so first of all the coke residue is actually from last night lol so it's not still affecting me, but when I did take it, it made me feel more awake and alert like caffeine would. while weed has a relaxing and sometimes sedating effect, the coke balanced that part out, and amplified the more stereotypical effects like laughing and talking (weed makes me talk A LOT lol) because of the added energy. generally mixing drugs with opposite effects will work like this. mixing weed and alcohol for instance is a really popular combination (often referred to as a "crossfade") because of how the weed will counteract the nausea and often like jitteriness and stuff associated with alcohol
I know this was a long as hell answer but I hope this helped to clear up your questions! feel free to ask me any other drug related questions, I'm always happy to research anything I don't already know :)
edit: was doing some research bc this question interested me and came across this like. suppressed 1995 study from the WHO kdbdksndn???????? do with this article what you will I suppose

Exploring Cannabis Edibles: Production and Effects
Cannabis edibles have gained significant popularity in recent years as an alternative way to consume cannabis. Unlike smoking or vaping, edibles offer a discreet, smoke-free method of enjoying the effects of cannabis. They come in various forms such as cookies, candies, chocolates, and beverages, making them appealing to a wide range of consumers. Let's delve into how cannabis edibles are made and understand their effects.
Production Process:
Decarboxylation: The key step in making cannabis edibles is decarboxylation. This process involves heating raw cannabis flower or concentrate to activate the cannabinoids like THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) present in the plant material. This activation is necessary for the cannabinoids to have psychoactive or therapeutic effects.
Infusion: Once decarboxylated, the cannabis is infused into a fat or oil base like butter, coconut oil, or vegetable oil. This infusion process allows the cannabinoids to bind with the fat molecules, which makes them more readily absorbed by the body when ingested.
Cooking/Baking: The infused oil or butter is then used in various recipes to create cannabis-infused edibles. These can range from baked goods like brownies, cookies, and cakes to savory items like candies, chocolates, gummies, and even beverages.
Effects of Cannabis Edibles:
The effects of cannabis edibles differ from smoking or vaping due to the way cannabinoids are absorbed into the body. When you ingest cannabis through edibles, the cannabinoids are metabolized by the liver before entering the bloodstream. This process produces a different set of effects that are typically more potent and longer-lasting compared to inhalation methods. Here are some key points about the effects of cannabis edibles:
Delayed Onset: One distinctive feature of edibles is their delayed onset of effects. While smoking or vaping cannabis delivers effects almost instantly, edibles can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in. This delay occurs because the cannabinoids must be digested and metabolized before reaching the bloodstream.
Potency: Edibles can be quite potent due to the concentration of cannabinoids in the infused oil or butter. It's important for users to start with a low dose and wait to gauge the effects before consuming more. Overconsumption of edibles can lead to unpleasant experiences characterized by intense intoxication, anxiety, or paranoia.
Longer Duration: Another notable aspect of edibles is their prolonged duration of effects. Once the cannabinoids are absorbed into the bloodstream, the effects can last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours or even longer, depending on the individual's metabolism and tolerance.
Body High vs. Head High: Many users report experiencing more of a body-centered high with edibles, characterized by deep relaxation and sedation. This is in contrast to the cerebral, head-focused high often associated with smoking or vaping cannabis.
Safety and Responsible Use:
Using cannabis edibles responsibly involves understanding dosage, onset time, and potential effects. Here are some tips for safe consumption:
Start Low, Go Slow: Begin with a low dose (typically 5-10mg of THC) and wait at least 2 hours before considering consuming more.
Read Labels: Always check the THC/CBD content per serving in commercial edibles to better manage dosage.
Store Safely: Keep cannabis edibles securely stored away from children and pets, preferably in child-resistant packaging.
Avoid Mixing with Alcohol: Combining edibles with alcohol can amplify the effects and increase the risk of adverse reactions.
In conclusion, cannabis edibles offer a convenient and discrete way to enjoy the effects of cannabis without smoking. Understanding how they are made and their effects is crucial for safe and enjoyable consumption. As the legal landscape surrounding cannabis evolves, edibles continue to be a popular choice for both recreational and medicinal users seeking an alternative to traditional consumption methods.

where: outside peeta's medical room
when: night sixty-seven
who: katniss & annie (@incaensio)
it's not often annie cresta separates from her fiancé and their little guppy nowadays. recently, she had overheard someone sweetly put that finnick odair and annie cresta never let go of each other's hands. it glosses over the intense, separation anxiety that the little family from district four has ; something annie also does in the situation. there's that worry that lingers hushed in a pit of her stomach, that all this happiness is a dream. she'll wake up on that nightmare inducing cot in a cell ; or more likely, her place in panem is one in a purgatory plane, where neither heaven nor hell will take her. but for now, that needs to be pushed down. because for at least now, she has her family - her everything, regardless.
she feels drawn to peeta mellark though. trauma bonds. it almost feels like he's a brother to her and they're a pair of ghosts. peeta's spirit seems trapped in one spot, while she is free to roam. it's heartbreaking. that's why she's outside his room, like an obnoxious, guardian angel. her man and their boy sleep soundly and safely. she can't. and in these moments of being alone, thoughts plague her the worst. so she must check on the young man from twelve, make sure he's okay ... as okay as he can be. he's sleeping - sedated maybe ? annie isn't sure, but nobody seems to be forcing her to leave. so she doesn't. and for hour of night alone, she doesn't expect to see katniss everdeen here too. " i'm sorry i didn't come to visit after everything. " she should have tracked peeta's wife down, given her a warning. she could have told katniss about the state of her husband. she was his neighbor ; annie knew it more soundly than most.

CW: Blood, stitches, mouth whump, eye whump, anxiety, gunshot mention, sedation
Blind and mute from stitches in their lips and eyelids, the pet curled into the fetal position in a corner. Their master had someone over. The pet could hear muted conversation above them.
The hours ticked by and all the pet could do was hope that their master wouldn't bring their company downstairs. Sometimes they would bring company down to 'visit'. Sometimes the pet got lucky and was left alone.
After what seemed like an eternity, the voices and footsteps faded into obscurity, implying that the visitors had gone and the pet's master had retired for the night. Now, perhaps the pet could sleep a little too.
♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤
Bang—
The pet jerked awake, wincing in pain as they reflexively tried to open their eyes. They felt blood begin to drip from the stitches again. Upstairs, something big was happening. There was more banging. Banging and shouting. For a moment, the pet thought they heard a gunshot..?
The pet cowered, curling up as small as possible in the corner.
Bang—
The door to their prison opened with such explosive force that it sent a tremor through the room. The pet whimpered, covering their head.
The voice that sounded from the door was the familiar voice of their master, but... it was saying things that didn't make any sense...
"Police! If there's anyone in here, come out with your hands up!"
Confused and fearful, the pet shakily raised their hands above their head. Why was their master playing this... game..? Was all of the banging and shouting their doing?
"I need medical in here! I found someone!" The voice shouted. Another voice shouted back a response.
So their master had pulled more people into this..? Were they trying to scare them? Give them false hope?
"Can you tell me your name?" Their master's voice asked, getting closer.
The pet shrunk back further into the corner, attempting to become one with the wall.
"Oh... Oh my— What in the hell..? Your... mouth's been stitched closed..? Holy shit— your eyes too— hey, it's gonna be okay, alright? We're going to get you help."
The pet flinched as a hand touched their arm. What was happening?? Why was their master acting like this?? Were they really a police officer? If so— no. It didn't make any sense!
"Hey, hey, take a breath. You're safe now. No one else is going to hurt you. The person who did this to you is already in a squad car under arrest."
The pet wanted to scream. They didn't understand. They didn't understand.
Moments later, the pet found themself being moved to a bed or a stretcher or something relatively comfortable that was then carried somewhere else. Despite the glimmer of comfort, the pet was only getting more confused and anxious, to the point were they started to fight back. Just a little, not much, but they pushed away hands and refused to lie down flat, opting instead to cover their head and curl into a tight ball.
"We're going to have to sedate them." The pet heard someone say above them. Someone else agreed and before the pet could do anything, they were being physically restrained with uncharacteristically gentle voices promising they were safe and when they woke up everything would be okay.
The pet didn't believe them. No— no! They wanted to be let go! Although they were tired and weak, they fought to get their arms free, sobbing through sealed lips, tearing at the stitches. In a moment, however, everything began to fade. Soon, everything was black.

DENTAL SEDATION FOR CHILDREN: YAY OR NAY?
Have you been sitting on a dental chair, waiting for the dentist and praying that something - ANYTHING would happen that can whisk you away from the impending doom that you'll feel? As adults, surely we've all felt anxious, distressed, and edgy before but the unsettling sensation during dental appointments truly left impacts on us like no other. Now imagine how children go through with it.
Children don't possess proper coping skills regarding their dental experiences, making dental care to children quite challenging. This is a crucial aspect to acknowledge because once the children develop dental anxiety, dental fear and avoidance will start in which generally result in bad oral health. Sedation began to be practiced by dentists in the 1900's, it is not only to reduce pain but also to help with fear and anxiety that people feel before a dental procedure or even during a basic cleaning. According to Nelson (2022), it is estimated that 100,000–250,000 pediatric dental sedations are performed each year in the USA, and practitioners anticipate a need for more pharmacological  behavior management in the future. High levels of pediatric dental disease, increasingly difficult child behavior, and parent expectations support a need for sedation services.
Sedation also may be used when several procedures need to be done at the same time, when the safety of a child may be compromised, or if your child has a strong “gag” reflex. Your child’s dentist will give the sedation. Once your child has received sedation, the dentist will give him or her an injection (shot) or injections in the treatment area to keep it pain-free during and after the procedure. The sedation medicine may last up to 6 hours after the treatment is done.
Types of Sedation:
Nitrous oxide
Often called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a very safe, mild sedative that will help your child remain relaxed during dental procedures. Your child’s dentist will give the sedation with the use of a “space mask,” which carries air (oxygen) mixed with the medication.
Oral Sedatives
If your child is nervous, oral sedation may be used. It is taken by mouth or through the nose. This type of medicine will make your child a little drowsy, and will keep him or her relaxed and calm during the procedure. The medicine usually begins to work within 20 minutes.
IV Sedation
Intravenous (IV) sedation requires a needle to be inserted into your child’s vein, usually in the arm or hand. The biggest advantage to IV sedation is that the dentist can give your child more medicine during a longer procedure to keep him or her relaxed. Home preparation is required for this type of sedation.
Benefits or advantage of dental sedation to children
Dental procedures can be incredibly exhausting especially for the kids that had traumatizing experiences with a dentist and are also afraid just by looking at the dental instruments. Well, under the calming effects of sedation, children are more likely to sit still so our dentists and hygienists can work efficiently and effectively. According to dentiland.net there are seven possible benefits the patient can gain after receiving the dental sedative.
It Offers Choice - There are three kinds of sedation as mentioned above. These choices would help you to find the right fit for your child.
It Helps Manage Dental Anxiety -  Any signs of anxiety in children is worth addressing early on to manage and reduce it. Sedation is a fantastic tool for dental anxiety relief as it helps to get the patient into a physiologically relaxed state, including deep breathing and a reduced heart rate. It will help prevent your child from panicking before or during the treatment.
Quicker Dental Procedures - if the patient is being relaxed it may lead to less extended procedure. But if a patient is anxious, they might move around in the chair or show discomfort, making the dentist pause his or her next phase of the treatment. That’s why it’s a win-win situation in which the patient settles quickly allowing the dentist to finish the procedure less time consuming.
Manage The Gag Reflex - this is a typical response in patients when a dentist examines the back of the mouth, that often happens with young children. Receiving sedatives before the treatment lowers the risk of damage and minor injuries inside a patient's mouth from gagging while a dentist is conducting an examination.
It Reduces Pain - Managing pain is one of the most important tasks of a dental practitioner when handling children. Sedation is one way of making your child comfortable throughout the treatment and avoiding distress for it can help reduce pain before, during, and after your child’s dental treatment.
It Aids Complex Procedures - Sedation will help ensure the dentist has the best chance of completing a procedure accurately, minimizing the risk of follow-up surgery or complications.
It Helps Relieve Parent Anxiety - No parent likes to see their kid struggling to have their dental treatment accomplished. Unfortunately children can sense when their parents feel anxious, and that can make your child more anxious and nervous. By choosing sedation, you have added reassurance that your child will be just fine.
Effects of Sedative Drugs/IV or Gas.
Children react to these sedatives differently depending on their tolerance level. It is important that the dentist determine the right amount of sedation needed by the patient so that the patient will not suffer any unexpected side effects. The most common side effects associated with intravenous sedation are headaches, dizziness and nausea.
In conclusion, dental fear and anxiety is a common problem in pediatric patients. Children are not little adults; they differ physically, psychologically, and emotionally. Thus, the effect of dental procedures may cause trauma and discomfort to the children in which it could lead to more serious psychological and emotional issues. Dental sedation can allow dentists to provide treatment with minimal said trauma and discomfort and also preserving their trust. On the other hand, it also has countless risks - even permanent damages and is seen with much apprehension. Nonetheless, dental sedation to children continues to grow and is seen more with opportunity than adversity. "Therefore, practitioners should strive to reduce patient risk by carefully selecting patients who are medically optimized for sedation and instilling a culture of safety into clinical practice", Nelson and Xu (2022).

How Sedation Dentistry Can Transform Your Dental Visits
Tumblr media
Sedation dentistry, also known as sleep dentistry, uses sedative medications to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable during dental treatments. This technique is especially beneficial for individuals who experience intense fear or anxiety about dental visits. With options such as nitrous oxide (inhalation), oral medication, or intravenous (IV) sedation, this approach is tailored to meet each patient’s specific needs, ensuring a stress-free experience.
Overcoming Dental Anxiety with Sedation Dentistry For many, dental anxiety creates a barrier to receiving necessary oral care, often resulting in neglected dental health. Sedation dentistry offers a solution by easing fear and creating a sense of calm throughout the visit. By eliminating emotional distress, it enables patients to undergo essential procedures without hesitation, fostering a more positive outlook on dental care.
Enhancing Comfort During Dental Treatments Sedation dentistry is ideal for patients with low pain tolerance, an active gag reflex, or difficulty staying still during lengthy procedures. This method ensures maximum comfort while allowing dentists to work efficiently. By minimizing discomfort, sedation dentistry encourages patients to complete treatments, leading to improved oral health outcomes over time.
Streamlining Dental Care with Sedation Dentistry One major advantage of sedation dentistry is its ability to combine multiple treatments into a single visit. For patients requiring extensive dental work, this reduces the need for repeated appointments and lessens overall stress. By consolidating care, patients save time and enjoy a smoother path to achieving optimal oral health.
Sedation Dentistry for Special Needs and Children Sedation dentistry is particularly helpful for individuals with special needs or for children who may find dental visits intimidating. This method creates a calm and safe environment, making treatments more manageable. Pediatric sedation dentistry is especially effective in helping young patients feel at ease, ensuring a positive experience that lays the foundation for lifelong dental health.
Safety Considerations with Sedation Dentistry While sedation dentistry is widely considered safe, discussing potential risks and side effects with your dentist is essential. Common side effects, such as drowsiness, dry mouth, or mild nausea, typically subside shortly after treatment. Your dentist will carefully evaluate your medical history to recommend the safest and most suitable sedation method for your needs.
The Long-Term Benefits of Sedation Dentistry Beyond immediate comfort, sedation dentistry encourages regular dental visits by removing fear and discomfort. Consistent care prevents serious oral health issues and promotes better hygiene and overall well-being. Over time, patients enjoy healthier teeth and gums, along with the confidence of a bright, healthy smile.
Sedation dentistry transforms the dental experience by alleviating anxiety, enhancing comfort, and streamlining treatments. Whether dealing with dental phobia, complex procedures, or unique needs, sedation dentistry provides an effective solution for stress-free and successful oral care.

Tooth extraction can be an intimidating procedure, but at Ifantis Dentalcare, we are committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and professional experience for every patient in Morton Grove, IL. Our experienced team is here to address all your concerns and ensure a smooth process from start to finish. Whether you’re in need of a simple extraction, impacted tooth removal, or multiple extractions, we have the expertise and technology to offer the highest standard of care. For those searching for "Tooth Extraction Dentist Morton Grove IL" or “Teeth Extractions Near Me,” Ifantis Dentalcare is your premier choice for a trusted and compassionate dental service.
Understanding Tooth Extractions
Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. While permanent teeth are meant to last a lifetime, various circumstances may necessitate their removal. At Ifantis Dentalcare, we understand that patients often experience anxiety about the procedure, which is why we prioritize making every step as stress-free as possible.
Common reasons for tooth extraction include:
Severe tooth decay: When tooth decay penetrates beyond the enamel and affects the pulp, causing severe pain or infection, extraction might be the best solution if root canal therapy isn’t sufficient.
Impacted teeth: Wisdom teeth are commonly impacted, meaning they do not fully emerge from the gum line, potentially leading to discomfort, infection, or misalignment.
Periodontal (Gum) Disease: Severe gum disease can lead to loosening of teeth, making extraction necessary to prevent further complications.
Overcrowding: Extraction may be recommended before orthodontic treatments to create space and ensure proper alignment.
Why Choose Ifantis Dentalcare?
Ifantis Dentalcare stands out in Morton Grove, IL, for its advanced care, skilled team, and commitment to patient well-being. Here’s why patients seeking "Tooth Extraction Dentist Morton Grove IL" or "Teeth Extractions Near Me" turn to us:
Experienced Professionals: Our dental team has years of experience performing various types of extractions, from routine to complex cases.
Advanced Technology: Using the latest dental technology, we ensure precision, minimize discomfort, and speed up recovery times.
Patient-Centric Approach: We understand that each patient is unique, and our treatment plans are tailored to meet individual needs.
Pain Management and Comfort: Our priority is to make you as comfortable as possible during the procedure. We offer local anesthesia and sedation options to alleviate pain and reduce anxiety.
Types of Tooth Extractions
Tooth extractions are classified into two types: simple extractions and surgical extractions.
Simple Extractions: These are performed on teeth visible in the mouth. After numbing the area, our dentist loosens the tooth with an instrument called an elevator and removes it with forceps.
Surgical Extractions: This procedure is more complex and involves removing teeth that may not be fully visible or impacted, often requiring an incision in the gum. Surgical extractions are commonly performed for wisdom teeth or broken teeth.
Our experienced team at Ifantis Dentalcare can assess your situation and determine which type of extraction is appropriate for you.
Preparing for Tooth Extraction
Ifantis Dentalcare ensures that you’re fully prepared and informed before the procedure. Our preparation process includes:
Initial Examination: We begin with a comprehensive examination to understand the condition of your teeth and gums. X-rays help us assess the tooth’s position, its root, and surrounding bone.
Review of Medical History: Your overall health plays a role in the healing process, so we review your medical history to identify any conditions that may affect the procedure or recovery.
Discussing Sedation Options: For patients with dental anxiety, we offer sedation options to ensure a calm and comfortable experience.
Pre-Procedure Instructions: We provide instructions to help you prepare, such as fasting if sedation will be used, and any medications to avoid beforehand.
What to Expect During a Tooth Extraction
For many patients, knowing what to expect can ease the anxiety associated with tooth extraction. Here’s what typically happens:
Numbing the Area: We apply a local anesthetic to numb the extraction site, ensuring you feel minimal to no pain.
Loosening the Tooth: For simple extractions, we gently rock the tooth back and forth using specialized instruments to loosen it from its socket.
Removing the Tooth: Once loosened, the tooth is carefully removed. In some cases, the tooth may be sectioned into smaller pieces to facilitate removal.
Suturing and Gauze: For surgical extractions, the area may be sutured, and we place gauze over the extraction site to control bleeding.
Aftercare for Optimal Healing
Proper aftercare is crucial to promote healing and prevent complications. We provide each patient with a set of aftercare guidelines, including:
Bite Down on Gauze: Keep the gauze in place for at least 30-45 minutes after the procedure to stop bleeding.
Limit Physical Activity: Avoid strenuous activities for the first 24 hours to allow the blood clot to form in the socket.
Apply Ice Packs: Swelling is normal after an extraction. Applying an ice pack to the cheek can help reduce it.
Follow a Soft Diet: Stick to soft foods like soup, yogurt, and applesauce for the first few days to avoid putting pressure on the extraction site.
Avoid Smoking and Alcohol: Smoking and alcohol can delay healing and increase the risk of complications like dry socket.
Our team at Ifantis Dentalcare will also schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your recovery and address any concerns you may have.
Addressing Common Concerns about Tooth Extractions
1. Is Tooth Extraction Painful?
At Ifantis Dentalcare, we prioritize patient comfort. With local anesthesia and sedation options, you’ll experience minimal pain during the procedure. Some discomfort after the anesthesia wears off is normal, but we provide pain management recommendations to keep you comfortable.
2. What is a Dry Socket, and How Can I Prevent It?
A dry socket occurs when the blood clot at the extraction site dislodges or dissolves before the area fully heals. This condition can lead to pain and delayed healing. To reduce the risk, avoid vigorous rinsing, sucking on straws, and smoking.
3. How Long is the Recovery Period?
While recovery varies depending on the type of extraction, most patients start feeling better within a few days. Complete healing typically takes one to two weeks. During this period, it’s essential to follow the aftercare instructions provided by our team to promote optimal healing.
4. Will I Need a Tooth Replacement After Extraction?
Depending on the tooth’s location and purpose, a replacement option may be recommended. We offer several restorative solutions at Ifantis Dentalcare, including dental implants, bridges, and partial dentures, to restore functionality and aesthetics.

Root Canal Treatment in Coimbatore
Understanding Root Canal Treatment in Coimbatore: Restoring Dental Health with We Dental
It’s a procedure that successfully treats infected or severely decayed teeth to ease the pain while keeping the tooth structure intact. Whoever suffers from pain, sensitivity, or swelling around the tooth, a root canal treatment could be the best option to avoid complications. At We Dental in Coimbatore, we offer high-quality root canal treatments that restore and protect your dental health — conveniently and effectively.
What is a Root Canal Treatment?
Another term for root canal treatment is endodontic treatment; it is a procedure done to eliminate infection in the inner part of a tooth. The pulp is tissue inside a tooth that contains blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. If this pulp becomes infected or infested by deep decay, repeated dental work, or injury, then a lot of pain and swelling will be felt within the mouth; if it goes untreated, it may lead to abscesses or even to tooth loss.
The procedure includes the removal of the infected pulp, followed by cleaning and disinfection of the inner chamber, and then sealing it to avoid reinfection. The entire procedure stops the pain and saves the natural tooth, thus allowing for proper function.
Benefits of getting a root canal treatment at We Dental in Coimbatore
At We Dental, our dental team is well aware of the fact that root canal treatment may not give you a pleasant feel, but such treatment is regular and safe. Root canal treatments with modern techniques and anesthesia make it relatively a comfortable and painless experience. In fact, here are some points for consideration if you are choosing to have your root canal treatment with us in Coimbatore. One of the main benefits of a root canal treatment is that it effectively relieved tooth pain caused due to infection. Our dentists ensure a comfortable experience and help you regain your quality of life.
1. Preservation of Natural Tooth Through the root canal therapy, the infection of the tooth gets treated and saves your tooth instead of extraction of the tooth. As the natural tooth remains undamaged, so your jawbone structure remains unaffected as well, and you retain your natural biting position.
2. Restored Dental Function After performing a root canal treatment, you can use the tooth like any other healthy tooth. A crown will make it strong enough to withstand all your normal chewing and biting forces.
3. Aesthetic Benefits With root canal treatment, the saving of the natural look of your smile is assured. We Dental offers custom crowns that easily blend in with your surrounding teeth.
When Do You Need Root Canal Treatment?
Knowing when you will need root canal treatment can prevent advanced conditions from forming on your teeth. These are some signals that you may need a root canal:
Stabbing or throbbing pain in one tooth when applying chewing force
After the stimulus has been removed, continuing pain or sensitivity to hot or cold
Swelling or tenderness of the gums surrounding the affected tooth
Discoloration or darkening of one tooth
A small nodule or pimple in the gum next to the lesion
About Root Canal Treatment by We Dental
We Dental treats with a patient-centric approach to ensure your root canal treatment in Coimbatore is painless and quick. Here is how it’s done step-by-step-
1. Initial Examination and X-rays The dentist at We Dental will examine the affected tooth during the first consultation session, and X-rays might be taken to understand the type of infection and assess the shape of the root canals.
2. Anesthesia and Preparation Local anesthesia is applied locally to the region of the infected tooth to make the patient pain-free. The patient may be given further sedation if they so require it depending on the anxiety level of the patient about the procedure.
3. Removal of Infected Pulp A small window is provided in the tooth for the entry of the dentist to remove the infected pulp. Removal of the pulp is done gently, and the inner chamber and root canals are cleaned and disinfected of any remaining bacteria.
4. Filling and Sealing The root canals are then filled up with a biocompatible material, and sealed to ensure that there is no reinfection. This strengthens the tooth, in preparation for the next stage.
5. Restoration of the Tooth with a Crown A crown is most often recommended for protection of the treated tooth, hence restoring its function. Our crowns at We Dental are of high quality and made to seamlessly fit your smile.

Benefits of Sedation for Complex Dental Treatments
At Westlake Village Dentis, sedation dentistry has revolutionized the way patients approach complex dental treatments. Dental anxiety is a significant barrier to getting necessary care, especially for extensive procedures. Sedation offers patients a stress-free and comfortable experience while ensuring optimal outcomes for the dentist.
One of the key benefits of sedation is pain management. Complex dental treatments, such as root canals, extractions, or dental implants, can cause significant discomfort. With sedation, patients can undergo these procedures without feeling pain or discomfort. Local anesthesia numbs the area, while sedation takes care of the emotional discomfort, allowing for a calm and relaxed experience.
Another benefit is reduced anxiety. Many people have dental phobia, which can prevent them from seeking treatment, particularly for more involved procedures. Sedation dentistry helps alleviate these fears by ensuring patients feel relaxed and worry-free during the treatment. For those who experience high levels of anxiety, conscious sedation or even general anesthesia can be utilized to ensure the patient is either lightly sedated or fully asleep during the procedure.
Sedation also helps patients who have difficulty sitting still or have a sensitive gag reflex. In cases where a patient may have trouble keeping their mouth open for extended periods or feels uncomfortable due to a gag reflex, sedation allows the dentist to complete the procedure efficiently without interruptions. This can make complex treatments more manageable and reduce the likelihood of the procedure taking longer than expected.
For both patients and dentists, sedation helps improve efficiency. Because the patient is relaxed and comfortable, the dentist can focus on the procedure without concern for the patient’s stress levels. This results in a more streamlined process and can allow multiple treatments to be completed in one visit, reducing the need for follow-up appointments.
Sedation dentistry also aids in minimizing trauma to the patient’s mouth. With patients remaining calm and still, there is less likelihood of unintended movements, which can lead to complications or discomfort during the procedure. For intricate dental work, precision is crucial, and sedation provides an environment where this can be achieved safely and effectively.
Finally, recovery is often quicker and less stressful when sedation is used. As the effects of sedation wear off, many patients feel no memory of the procedure, and post-treatment pain can be significantly reduced. This improves the overall experience and enhances patient satisfaction.
In conclusion, sedation plays a vital role in making complex dental treatments more accessible and manageable. At Westlake Village Dentis, patients can receive quality care with the added benefit of a stress-free and comfortable treatment experience, ensuring optimal outcomes and a positive visit.

How dental anesthesia ensures a safe and pain-free dental experience
Tumblr media
The mere thought of sitting in a dental chair can make many people uneasy. Dental procedures often bring to mind discomfort or pain, making the experience daunting for patients. Fortunately, modern dentistry offers solutions that ensure effective treatments and a pain-free experience and the only key tool in achieving this is dental anesthesia.
Feeling anxious or nervous about your dental treatment? Rest assured, dental anesthesia can help ease your fears and ensure a comfortable visit.
This blog covers dental anesthesia, its types, and how it ensures safe yet comfortable dental treatments
The Purpose of Dental Anesthesia
Dental anesthesia is primarily used to block the sensation of pain during dental procedures. The numbing effect allows dentists to carry out everything from simple fillings to more complex treatments, such as tooth extractions or root canals, without causing discomfort to the patient.
But dental anesthesia is not just about managing pain, it plays a pivotal role in keeping patients calm, reducing anxiety, and helping them remain still, which is crucial for the success of many intricate dental procedures.
How Does Dental Anesthesia Work?
Dental anesthesia works by temporarily interrupting the nerve signals that carry pain sensations to the brain. Once administered, the anesthetic blocks the sodium channels in nerve cells, preventing the electrical signals responsible for pain from reaching the brain. As a result, patients can undergo dental procedures without feeling any pain in the treated area.
The effects of anesthesia usually wear off after a few hours, gradually restoring sensation to the numbed region.
Types of Dental Anesthesia
There are different types of dental anesthesia, each tailored to the patient’s needs and the procedure’s complexity. Let’s look at the most common forms:
1. Local Anesthesia
Local anesthesia is the most widely used type of dental anesthesia. It is administered via an injection to numb a specific area of the mouth, such as the gums or teeth. The patient stays fully alert but experiences no pain during the procedure. This is ideal for minor to moderate treatments like fillings, crowns, or deep cleanings.
Example: During a root canal, a dentist will apply local anesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding tissue, ensuring the patient doesn’t feel pain as the infected tissue is removed.
2. Sedation Anesthesia
In cases where patients experience dental anxiety or the procedure is more invasive, dentists may opt for sedation anesthesia. This type of anesthesia helps patients relax or even drift into a light sleep, depending on the level of sedation used.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that helps ease anxiety while keeping the patient awake. It’s often used in combination with local anesthesia.
Oral Sedation: Involves taking a sedative pill before the procedure, which keeps patients relaxed but conscious.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation: Administered through the vein, this type of sedation works quickly and induces a deep state of relaxation, although the patient remains semi-conscious.
3. General Anesthesia
General anesthesia may be used for more complex procedures or for patients who cannot tolerate even minimal discomfort. This form of anesthesia renders the patient completely unconscious, ensuring a painless and anxiety-free experience. General anesthesia is typically reserved for oral surgeries, extensive extractions, or cases involving special needs patients.
Safety Measures and Monitoring
Dental anesthesia, when administered by trained professionals, is highly safe. Before using anesthesia, dentists assess a patient’s medical history, allergies, and overall health to ensure the best approach. This pre-assessment helps reduce the risk of complications.
Throughout the procedure, the dentist or an anesthesiologist will closely monitor the patient’s vital signs, including heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure, to ensure safety. For sedation or general anesthesia, this level of monitoring is even more stringent to avoid any adverse reactions.
Why it’s important for a positive dental experience
For many people, the fear of pain is one of the primary reasons for avoiding dental visits. Dental anesthesia addresses this fear by offering an entirely pain-free experience. Here are some ways in which it enhances patient comfort:
Reduces Anxiety: Knowing that a procedure will be painless allows patients to approach dental treatments with less fear.
Improves Cooperation: A calm and relaxed patient is easier for the dentist to work with, ensuring the procedure goes smoothly.
Enables Complex Procedures: Without anesthesia, certain treatments, like wisdom tooth extractions or gum surgeries, would be unbearable for patients.
Delivering Comfort with Precision: The Wand
At Gentle and Caring Dentistry, we are committed to providing the most comfortable experience possible for our patients. One way we achieve this is by utilizing the latest technology, including “The Wand”. The wand is a computer-controlled anesthesia delivery system that offers several advantages over traditional injection techniques.
The wand delivers a precise amount of anesthetic with minimal discomfort. This is because the wand uses a computerized feedback mechanism to adjust the pressure and flow of the anesthetic based on the tissue resistance. This targeted approach minimizes the spread of the anesthetic, leading to a more numb and comfortable experience for the patient. Additionally, the wand helps reduce needle phobia, as the injection itself is often less noticeable compared to traditional methods. If you’re looking for a pain-free and comfortable dental experience, ask a professional dentist Dr. Roxanne Irani about the benefits of using the wand for your next procedure.
