CAMPBELL BAIN X MALE READER (PANIC ATTACK COMFORT)

reader gender: male (he/him)

Room 306 in St. Jude’s mental hospital was assigned to two boys, you, and your boyfriend. He was bipolar while you had generalized anxiety disorder. This led to regular panic attacks when unmedicated

Aforementioned boyfriend, Campbell Bain sat next to you, his arm wrapped loosely around your shoulders.

He was chatting away, some story about Eddie that you couldn’t hear through the pure adrenaline coursing through your body.

Every breath seemed to come and leave without making it any easier to focus. You’d had a rough day, too many loud sounds and people. They’d lowered your meds recently, which meant it took less to make you anxious.

This was definitely a panic attack.

Campbell’s voice faded out, without you noticing, and his hand transitioned from just holding you to rubbing your back.

“Hey,” His voice was gentle, and you turned from staring dead ahead to do your best to focus on him, “you ok? You’re shaking..”

You swallowed thickly, breathing starting to pick up in pace. It felt like someone was choking you. A few tears rolled down your cheeks, and Campbell immediately moved to wipe them away.

He had this soft look of concern written across his face.

“Woah, you’re ok,” He pulled you close, and even in your nonverbal state you managed to pull together enough sense to bury your head in Campbells chest, “You’re safe. I’m right here.”

He moved you to sit on his lap, leaning up against the headboard of the bed you were sitting on. Campbell slowed his breathing, hoping that you’d follow his example.

You drew in gasps of air, trying desperately not to suffocate. Everything was too much. The lights of the hospital felt blinding, and all the overlapping sounds of talking and air conditioning hums and nurses and music and-

Campbells palms came to rest over your ears, and you reached up your own trembling hands to cover his.

In all honesty he was scared they’d sedate you. He hadn’t seen you have a panic attack this bad in a long time. You shook in his arms, letting out a choked cry as you finally managed to pull in a full breath.

“There we go, that’s my boy,” Campbell brushed his fingers through your hair, mumbling soft words of praise to help you calm down, “You’re safe, i’m right here with you.”

You let out a pathetic whine in response, signaling to Campbell that you were conscious enough to hear him. You felt less like you were being choked now, and it was easier to breathe.

“good boy,” You could feel his heartbeat through his tear stained t-shirt, and you weren’t sure how long it had been since this started but you were glad he stayed, “just keep breathing. Nice deep breaths.”

It took a few more agonizing minutes for you to finally come back all the way, and while you were still a bit shaky, it wasn’t as bad as before.

Campbell watched from your shared bed as you pulled away and stood up, pacing with a hand pressed to your chest to try and calm down fully.

It felt too cramped in his arms. You stumbled every other step, but it was nice to keep moving.

after a minute or two you came back to bed, face red and blotchy but no longer crying.

“You feeling better?” He asked as you sat back down, smiling when he was met with a nod in response.

“Mostly.” You never felt too inclined to speak after panic attacks. It all just felt like too much.

“Good,” Campbell reached out for your hand, squeezing it three times before kissing your forehead, “Can’t have my boy out of commission, we still got a show to do.”

You laughed quietly, more a breath out than an actual sound. The positivity in Campbells voice was infectious.

You curled up in Campbells lap, head laying on his thigh while he stroked your hair.

He didn’t mind staying there while you slept. He’d wake you up when it was time, for now he’d let you rest.

the first thing to know about finnick is that he never had a pet in his life, not even a puppy when he was a little boy or a fish (since he spent most of his time fishing, he wouldn't have felt comfortable pulling some out of the water while taking care of one at home). finnick never disliked animals, he just wasn't familiar with them.

so, when you came into his life, you turned it upside down. with a house full of loving animals and a mind filled with animal fun facts, you made your way into his sensitive heart and his previously lonely home.

he loves when you tell him everything you know about sea animals. he discovered that turtles are his favorite; so at night, when both of you can't sleep and are just holding each other, staring lovingly and talking nonstop about nothing and everything, you tell him how sea turtles have outlived dinosaurs, how female turtles never forget their home beach, and how they are immune to the sting of most jellyfish.

finnick never knew that cats could be such little devils. he really struggled at first because your mischievous orange cat loved knocking stuff off the table, welcomed him home with scratches, and ran around the house every night until exhaustion got to him, driving a restless finnick nearly to madness. despite their bickering, you know they love each other unconditionally. every time you return from the market, you find them snuggling and napping together; finnick snoring softly while lying down on the couch on his back, and your little guy comfortably situated on finnick's chest, purring his heart out.

when you adopted a guinea pig, finnick insisted on being the one who named him. many names were vetoed, from mags II to robert. “finn, it sounds like he is a working man with a briefcase,” you told him, laughing at his idea. “his close friends could call him bob!!,” he insisted, invested in the idea. in the end, you agreed on naming him triton. “a big name for a big man,” finn said dramatically as he held the little animal in his big hand

bathing your dog was a chaotic experience. persuading your pet wasn't easy, as she knew what treats-leading-to-the-bathroom meant. many attempts later, you resigned and finnick had to carry her into the tub. finnick was assigned the important duty of holding her while you gently wet her with a bucket and applied the shampoo, getting as wet and soapy as your pet. then, without any warning, she started shaking off, splashing water and soap all over you and the bathroom. all soaked and laughing your asses off, your puppy took the opportunity to escape while you were distracted. now, you have soaking clothes, a messy bathroom, and a soapy dog hiding in the kitchen corner.

now a proclaimed animal lover, finnick loves wearing his starfish shirt, owns several colorful crocodile slippers, goes outside with the sole intention of observing the animals passing by, insists on celebrating every one of your pet’s birthdays, and every now and then surprises you with an animal fact you’ve never heard before.

So I did mention that the tanuki I living underneath Kyuki probably wouldn’t have a human form, but my brain started going wild with what ifs and here they are.

I like to think they’re pretty chubby. Their human spoils them (as they deserve). I like to think they’re pretty chill for a tanuki too. They aren’t really mischievous and tend to like most humans. The only thing that sets them off is the damn fox that keeps skirting the edge of their territory. They’ll tell him off one day.

All of them just stare for a few moments before Jester spits out Masked and tackles Green, nuzzling the hell out of him. Green gets the wind knocked out of him and is just very confused and concerned as he pets Jester

There's another old What If joke where Black Bolt eats pineapple pizza before bed and has a weird dream, which causes him to call out to Maximus and accidentally razes Attilan. Then all the other Inhumans get annoyed with him and Medusa criticizes his food choices. So going off the idea that once Black Bolt discovers pizza and likes it with pineapples, where do the rest of the Inhuman Royals stand on the subject of "Hawaiian" pizza? Which of them like it, are okay with it, or absolutely hate it?

!! maaan it sounds like the old what ifs are the slice-of-life inhumans stories i need!!! is it morbid to say i find the premise kind of adorable?

but hmm… i don’t know!! i admittedly very rarely think of things like favorite foods or clothing styles, even for my own ocs (my poor underdeveloped children), so this is a complicated question for me. i imagine crystal and triton would be more open to it, as i can see them wanting to delve more into human culture than some of the others. i think triton is polite enough that even if he didn’t like a type of food, he’d still eat it without complaints! i can definitely see him and crystal trying lots of different foods, though.

i think maximus would act like he hates it just to try to rile up bb, and also act like he loves it to try to rile up medusa, and meanwhile he’s completely neutral in reality.

i don’t have any particular idea for karnak, luna, or ahura… i don’t think gorgon would like hawaiian pizza. i think gorgon is the pickiest eater out of them all!
