Honestly, despite everything going on I'm just so genuinely baffled over the support given to Selen not just by fans but people she has worked with and friends. It's so nice seeing it? I'm really new in the vtuber stuff and I come from kpop fandoms so you can imagine the shock I am in with how kind people are being. It's so so SO sweet seeing everyone backing her up I have not seen even 1 shitty person commenting crap (there probably is some but the support is gigantic compared to it).

Like how the fuck does Niji think we're gonna believe it was her fault, when everyone and their mothers is saying how kind and supportive and genuine and every other nice adjactive my english as a second language brain can't think of right now. When all the evidence is there proving how shit this company is and how their the ones at fault

Every fan and non fan is backing her up, her channel mods rioted and used her youtube channel to promote Doki, even with one of them under a NDA this is so good to see makes me emotional how good people can be.

The Niji fandom has a bad rep which is understandable, again I come from kpop and was an active fan and Twitter user at the peak of it ik how fandoms can be, but seeing so many of them backing her up and wanting to know if any of their oshis are the bullies so they can immideatly stop supporting.

Seeing Nijisanji's downfall in realtime is something else man. How does a company fuck up THIS BADLY. Now I'm starting to get the feeling that Alban was actually being kinda serious when he joked about being broke that one time... Also not surprised tho. The red flags have existed for aaages. We've just been looking past em for the sake of our talents. Now that they themselves are showing how fucked up the company is to them though. The agency might as well be done for. It's a shame too, there's so many genuinely good people in the agency. Like Uki and Fulgur off the top of my head are some of the most supportive and kind internet celebs out there and you can tell they're genuine from their very mannerisms and how they treat other people at all times.

Might as well just let all of niji graduate at this point. Move on to Vshojo or Idol or literally anything else

I wish we as a fandom could focus less on Nijisanji in this whole shitstorm. I see so much “Niji is losing everything!” “Niji is in huge trouble!” “Niji is going to suffer so much for this!” and that’s all well and good! I love shitting on Tazumi as much as anyone else (maybe more, if you look at my post history), BUT.

I think it’s of more value to highlight the great things the talents are doing NOW and let Niji rot, undiscussed, in a ditch. This isn’t ABOUT them. This isn’t about how much they’re losing. This is about the victory of everyone who’s escaped. So:

Let’s talk about Matara Kan, who’s finally getting to chase her wild creative endeavours. Who sounds so unspeakably happy and proud of herself for her achievements every stream. Who’s finally getting the help she needs to pursue incredible things with nobody shooting her down or leaving her on her own.

Let’s talk about K9 Kuro, who’s got a super sick model he’s clearly proud of. Who’s branching out to IRL streams and collabs and doing the things that make him happy without restriction. Who’s trying new things without the fear of losing money or being mocked by those around him, because he finally has a supportive community who lets him shine.

Let’s talk about Dokibird, who’s just… man. Doing everything and doing it all with a smile, all for her fans. She bounced back and she came back even stronger, and she’s living her newfound freedom to the fullest. Let’s be honest, nobody else ever deserved her. She’s chasing new goals and flying higher than she ever has before, and her passion and love for her community is one in a million.

This whole situation is weird to me

Like, fuck wilbur, obviously, he all but admitted to pretty much everything shelby said he did, but theres also the fact that people on the extreme end of the shelby support squad spectrum are doxxing him, sending him death threats, leaking his nudes, as well as leaking sexual videos of him while he was a minor, and shelby has been @ed multiple times in posts about this, and has responded just by blocking the people who made the posts, meaning that she knows, and isn’t saying anything about it.

It just feels… off, somehow, idk, like theres so much more to the story than what we know.

Its like… something that I’ve noticed at least, in my time on the internet and the many allegations that have come forth about many different people, is that you can kinda predict whether the allegations will turn out to be false or not based on the accusers response to the accused being doxxed/sent death threats. More often than not, people who are lying will either not say anything about the death threats/doxxing, or they will actively condone it, even sometimes participating in it (you can see that in the Kwite situation where Orion leaked his face, which was not something necessary to corroborate their story), while those who are not lying will either state explicitly in their initial statement not to harass anyone involved, or will say that later when they find out that people have been doing it (you can see that in the situation with dokibird/selen tatsuki v nijisanji). So far, Shelby is staying silent, seemingly ignoring the matter, which doesn’t bode well.

Now, I’m not saying she’s lying, as “response to your abuser being harassed for abusing you” isn’t a concrete way of determining whether someone is lying, I’m just saying it’s weird. He’s guilty, absolutely, he admitted to it, and since neither have shown receipts, the only way for him to turn this around is if he somehow manages to pull a Kwite (as in: manages to pull up all the receipts required to prove himself innocent, and potentially even prove Shelby guilty (of what idk)).

He’s guilty of the biting, of the being gross, of the being manipulative, thats a given, but the fact that Shelby is not only ignoring CP of him being leaked, but is actively blocking anyone who tries to tell her about it is weird

Regarding The Nijisanji Selen Tatsuki Situation

My statement here is gonna be a bit longer since I don't have to deal with Twitter's word cap.

I've been watching the whole Nijisanji Selen situation. To say that I'm disgusted by the actions of Nijisanji and their unfair treatment of their talents, would be an understatement.

I say this because I had plans to release keychains of Niji EN livers later this month...

These are now canceled

I was still in the sketching phase of the designs so I really don't lose anything from canceling this set. I was also going to open up commissions later this week as well. I accept fandom artwork, but from now on I will not draw nor do any coms for Nijisanji art.

After everything I've read and seen, I cannot in good faith support a company that unfairly treats its talents.

Please support Dokibird, that's Selen Alt that she wants her followers to follow.

Ya honestly fuck Offkai if they're just going to cave in and drop Ethyria from their convention when fans were already making preparations to go the event and see them there. Also fuck False for making obviously stitched screenshots to somehow blame Ethryia for him getting rejected by Offkai. They were three out of a whole roster of vtubers, most are Indies, who were attending. How was it their fault that Offkai couldn't accept every vtuber that applied to be featured in the event? It's also dumb as hell that Offkai would claim the decision to cancel Ethyria's attendance was made 2 weeks prior, but waited until now, when fans probably already bought their plane tickets, to tell people. And it reflects poorly on Offkai if they don't know how to manage their own convention to be safe for those attending.

I'm mad at Nijisanji as much as the next person, but you're just a fucking asshole if you choose to make conventions or other events the remaining livers attend an unsafe space for them. The livers should be allowed to be part of positive spaces with their fans.

Stop acting like a middle school bully and stop sending hateful messages. It reflects especially poorly on Dokibird bc it's assumed most people trying to "SiNk tHe yAtCht" are her supporters. She's already stated more than once she doesn't want people to harass anyone, and she just wants to move on from the situation. And if anyone actually fucking watched her properly, they'd know she's genuinely never behaved the way her current community has been behaving, even at times where it would seem justified.

How are these so-called dragoons doing her any favors by throwing her name around out of pettiness. She doesn't deserve this toxic community that only cares about her because her trauma strokes their Niji hate boners.

I heard of Selens graduation, that she herself NEVER KNEW WAS GONNA HAPPEN, last night and I was so incredibly shocked.

I was then on twitter for about three hours looking at drama and everything

And the English translation left out an entire sentence and has mistranslations in it which piss me off so fucking much

And people are taking well deserved breaks because a surprise graduation, that the liver wasn’t even aware of, is scary and upsetting

And then Niji has the gall to try and blame one of the livers

Turning everyone on their oshi’s

And im so scared not just for my oshi but everyone else and especially people like scarle who stream almost constantly, like the girl streams pretty much everyday

Now I’m not a big stream watcher I usually watch vods and clips and I’m not someone who watches scarle often either but I don’t believe I’ve ever seen her on break

And I want everyone to find better management and better opportunities but there’s also the part of me that doesn’t want them to go

Because if they leave they may not come back, and I’m so scared of my oshi’s leaving and never finding them, like kuro, matara, dokibird, and u-san are all amazing and I’m so happy to see them but i can’t help but feel like that’s luck, we got people who wanted to come back and did

But others may not

Some may just leave and not show up, those who haven’t had a past life may never come back

and I’m not one for digging into finding livers past lives in case they quit or anything, and I try not to follow any alts that a liver may have while they’re still streaming

Tbh it was so hard for me to keep up the new waves, Krisis and These Three Troublemakers, when they first debuted. Heck, just now I had to search up TTT's name because it didn't really fit into the existing naming themes the previous gens had, therefore I couldn't remember it. I was confused that they didn't have a debut song, so to me they were announced out of nowhere and debuted. No offense to anyone who's a fan of the Livers from these gens. It felt like Nijisanji was opening up auditions, making the gens debut, and hope they'll be successful as if to make up for the graduations. Which, y'know, was a big red flag to me.

NijiEN, and ANYCOLOUR as a whole, is a sinking ship. Vtuber companies aren't perfect, but Nijisanji is seriously under fire because what the heck have they done to Pomu and Selen. Those two literally helped carry the branch. I feel bad for the Livers who still work there, though I also feel it won't be long until more graduations happen. The fact that somebody within Nijisanji was apparently harassing Selen is terrifying as well.

Anyway, we should go and support Dokibird. She deserves the success. I'll miss our purple dragon, but I'm happy knowing that she's finally free and in a better position.

Dokibird was literally one of the most talented, most productive people at Niji and her reward? Constantly being shut down and bullied to the point of attempting suicide. "harassed by affiliated livers"? who are these little fucks that do not deserve their platform? that masquerade as a ‘family’ while bullying a co-worker into extreme measures, enough for her to be hospitalized?! A quick-ish ramble to sort out some feelings.

So... It's only the fifth of February. I don't usually keep to the larger internet, mind you, so I tend to be late to things. But, the fire has spread to my little spot on the internet where I take comfort.

What fire? The fire. That fire. You know the one. The fire of things ever changing, too fast to rest or to even understand. As soon as one thing settles in, it hits you with another and you're left just lost for a while.

I woke this morning a little later than usual. I've been composing or rearranging music in part to make my own, in part to understand music better. It's a struggle, one worth taking, but it eats time—

Anyways. I wake up and check the internet. See the news. Check my mail for rejected job applications. See something on reddit and—

I watch vtubers, of course I do. I'm an out and out weeb, struggling to learn Japanese alone. Anki discourages you within a week of study, though I blame myself for not immersing enough.

I didn't watch Selen. I guess she's Dokibird, now. I'll have to watch her next stream to show my support.

Nijisanji EN is burning. Has been a while, I guess. It's just game to see who's next. Live content is fast at making parasocial connections.

That's the word of post-quarantine media. Parasocial. Creators versus the audience. I say it like it's a fight, because it seems to be. Creators against themselves, trying to keep up good content. The audience, demanding but loyal. The sense of friendship watching the same person for years, though they may never see your comment.

We're all lonely here, in our own ways. Hear someone friendly enough refer to you as "you"—English lacking a plural you to differentiate. Even the streamer's lingo of calling the audience "chat", has this —effect of them pointing at the you behind the screen.

Later, as I was working through some backlogged videos, I learn Matpat is quitting. You too, huh? Thanks for all the early Youtube videos, though I fell off after FNAF 3. Feel a bit bad now, since the appeal of the lore has clicked in for me.

I don't know if Youtube/Twitch is a job in the same way accountant is. You know, that boost in popularity and in money. The unease of not knowing how much your next paycheck is.

But, retiring? That isn't quitting and finding a new job. That's... just not working anymore. And I get that he's not really quitting, but you know what I mean—he's not making this his thing anymore.

That's out there. Like, I know Matpat's a dad now. But, I always figured that these folks would retire 20 years or so before me. Like, we'd be balding, guts lapped over our belts when some youtuber had their 40th or so anniversary. Then, they say: "It's the last year for me." And we'd all cheer—we would have proven that internet media production is a life vocation. That with some luck and skill, we could live all our lives as Creators.

But Matpat et al aren't retiring because they've had a full career. They threw themselves into the fire and got tired of it. They're backing off from the internet for health and personal reasons, not because they're too old.

Better this, I suppose, than being asked to leave. Better this, than "selling out" and making worse content.

Speaking of "being asked to leave".... I get it now. I get what you were talking about when your favorite creator got cancelled. Because I just learned what my favorite creator has been up to—it's not great.

Compound that. What, for about 14 years? I'd say about that much. 14 years of quality, consistently improving content, near daily. Then, it hits that your favorite creator just did the fuck up of a lifetime and now—

Well, I have to come to terms with it. How am I supposed to feel about this? I'd say disappointed, but I... think I saw this coming.

I won't name names here. Dokibird deserves better, so she gets a mention. Matpat will have fanfare seeing him off—when we cry for him, it'll be out of respect.

This guy? He asked for quiet time, time to do better.

But at the same time, I know if I sit through the old content... I'll hear it. The things that pointed this way. I had the sense that he wasn't just going to put his foot in his mouth, but both his legs in there before long. And he did, massively.

I hope. That's hard word to say. Hope. I don't think I've had much of that a while. I want for him to do as he promises and be better. Apparently, other people have done the same.

Apparently, the drama tubers have gotten their mitts on the guy. Vultures, the lot, and so are we. But I don't watch drama tubers. I do watch people who interact with that bubble.

Last month or so, my newest favorite video esssayist—and while I haven't decided to drop the name yet, it's very obvious—decided to take on the legal basis of some youtube drama.

I was there for the section on the American financial system, like a good nerd.

That went... well, Icarus moment, for the guy. I don't think any of the fans were really there for the drama section, just for the legal analysis. Like, I've seen legal tube before. I'm sure you have. I was full on expecting for the rest of the legal analysis to drop, like he'd pull out a different case entirely to examine what had happen before.

I think the video's gone now. But, internet. Do check out his stuff. There's more than law in there. I think I'd call it anthropology, or just the analysis of how culture came to be. Is that the same thing?

I don't feel better. This was supposed to make me feel better. I was supposed to confront my emotions and process them until I was happy(er). And I'm not.

Do people still do these? A strange little diary of the moment? It's very Tumblr to me. Carve out a little place for yourself. No one will see what you make. No one will care. Freedom, at its best and worst. Too much to do and too little at the same time.

There's a sense of welcomed imperfection here. I won't likely get much love for what I do on here, nor will I get any critique. A diary made public, for no one to see. Wonderful. That's exactly what I wanted from my social media.

Palworld exists. It's in odd space, seemingly trying to step on toes. But it's really not the better version of Pokémon I was looking for. It doesn't have better story or gameplay.

I have SMT and Persona (which I like less than mainline) for that.

The Apollo Justice trilogy finally dropped, saving some wonderful games and stories from rotting on the 3DS. Citra, of course, exists, but those games refuse to run on there.

I'm playing around with other hobbies. Maybe I should try daily writing. This time, I might actually post it. I think my creative writing is more structured than this, but probably not. Every once in a while, I think up a decent phrase and wonder if I should try again.

Honestly, this here is out there for this blog. This is a post whatever, whenever I just made blog. I guess this counts.

I think it's time. I need to touch grass. I need a job.
