Flowey Analysis from a fellow flower 🌼

Happy National Siblings Day! for April 10th, I'm posting something a bit different than my usual daily flowey art. I'll be talking a bit about Flowey's character and comparing the nuances of his character with my personal experiences.

talk of PTSD and sibling death ahead:

Day 28 | I see you

Before I dive into the meat and potatoes of his grief I just want to add how I view flowey in terms of how he Feels Emotions because I forgot that not everyone is on the same page:

-him lacking a soul to feel compassion or most of his own feelings (besides anger and fear) feels very representative of how the brain will protect itsself after experiencing extreme stress situations like the shit he went through… There will be a wall that feels impenetrable between you and your emotions and it takes sooo much to find your way over that wall. and when you get over it its just one time and you wont really remember how to get back over that wall. yeah.. It gets a little easier each time at least.. And people who love you can help make it easier too ❤️

-him being immortal but getting reincarnated before reaching adulthood… feels very representative of how PTSD works on the brain and how ultimately it will just take Much longer before your brain can fully mature.. He needs some more time to live! Him further traumatizing himself by going through constant resets is not living!!

Ok. Now lets start the post:

He just misses his best friend. He misses the only one that understands him. He just wants to talk to them one more time. He doesn't understand why hes alive or why he was left behind. It's a weird feeling to be alive and be forced to live through so many years without that once-familiar company. The longer you go on without them, the harder memories with them are to recall. You start to fixate on a set few that you feel are most important, and soon it becomes your mantra. It starts getting harder to recall what their face looks like, but you remember when you look in a mirror. (I talked about this before on my sideblog too)

It being almost 6 years now since my brother passed away, this has been the culmination of how I've felt throughout the years. Maybe it wasn't intentional of Toby Fox to have Floweys simple smile resemble Charas smile, but I can't help but see it that way. You may not notice the similarities you have to your sibling at first, but once they pass on, those features really start to shine. In Floweys case, he didn't start to resemble chara until after losing them. It can certainly feel this way-- that the features just sort of appear out of nowhere. Parts of you that you ignored are now more apparant than ever.

Flowey/Asriel talking about how Chara is the only person that understands him is something I get more than anything. The sibling you lived and grew with would absolutely understand you more than anyone else... They know what your home life is like, what you get for dinner, secrets you dont tell anyone... Regardless of how close you feel with your sibling, they know you better than anyone else.

Losing someone that you have this kind of relationship with can very easily cause your whole world to fall apart in front of you, and you're left to pick up the pieces. It's usually preferred that you have others in your life to help you with this process, but if you don't... It could be hard to heal. Not only that, but it could be easier to hurt a lot more than you should in the grieving process.

Isolated and alone, there isn't much to do besides hope for something better than this. Mom or Dad couldn't fix me, so maybe... maybe They can. They'll come back for me. They know I can't live without them, right?

For some time, I wanted to believe this. It was so scary being in a world without my sibling. Hes the one that protected me from those that hurt us, and with him gone, I'd be vulnerable. For many months, I'd have the same dream, night after night...

They show up in your dreams, telling you that they're alright. They're not dead! It was just a lie someone made up. You feel their warm embrace. And then, you wake up. For a second, you still believe that its true--They really didn't die. But, then... You lie there in bed for just a bit longer. You realize the truth. You realize you have to live through today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, next decade, and next century without them from now on. You get up.

For Flowey's case, he never fully made peace with Chara's passing until Frisk comes along. He needed someone to pull him out of the constant trauma he was inflicting upon himself (his power to reset) and ... a bit of kindness and patience... to finally move forward. To finally get to live life again, day by day.

Before Frisk, however, all he had was himself. With his best friend seemingly not coming back, and his family unable to help him ...

He simply can't continue. If it wasn't for the fact that he came back to life by being combined with concentrations of Determination, the grief he felt upon being left behind would've caused him to be gone again for good. It makes so much sense to me that his parents couldn't help him in this state. They don't understand how different the grief of losing a sibling is from losing a child. Both hurt deeply and last a lifetime, but the loss of a sibling is a loss of someone who you've known your whole life. its the loss of someone who was growing up with you.

So, of course, since he found out he can't die AND that he can reset the timeline whenever he wants to... He decided to start playing god to cope. He can't have his body, soul, or best friend, so... this is his compromise for some sort of control. As the years DONT go by, and he continues to reset the timeline for the fun of it, he only continues to get worse... And theres no one there to help him. Of course someone does come around to finally help him, but its been so many years already. It's horrible he had to wait so long to finally move on and live again.

Cuz of this, I like to think frisk remains his friend and he starts to find himself again after everything that happened. He needs gentle people in his life to let him heal however he needs to. And, I feel out of everyone, he could only ever talk about the trauma he went through to frisk... No one else would understand. Like literally. they'd go "What the fuck are you Talking about". except maybe sans. But it wouldn't be a good idea to open up to sans about that kind of trauma 9_9;

Frisk may not be able to fully understand (If we are going off the premise that Chara is aware of all the Resets and Not Frisk) but Flowey doesn't need someone to fully understand...just someone to talk to and have a shoulder to lean on.

This drawing is rather personal to me because this drawings actually a memory I have of me and my brother in the last years we shared where we Didn't have to worry about us being hurt anymore. We were playing each others favorite games at the time.

I decided to post this on this day because:

A. April 10th is National Siblings Day!

B. the day after today, April 11th, is the day my brother died. Once a year, I like to do something cathartic for myself. Whether I'm just getting bottled up feelings out of me or I'm letting myself understand where I am with my grief, I like to always try and do something like this to remember my brother. Hes the only one that could understand what I went through and how hard it was to get here.

C. In general, I feel its important to post this because I know personally how hard it is to write about things like this. There have been many times where I've tried writing or drawing about my PTSD and, even though I didn't even write the first word or draw the first line, All of my days energy would get zapped out of my system just thinking about it. Its been long enough now that I can write as much as this post and still feel okay! So if anyone out there reading this is in the same boat, just know that healing truly does take time. Sometimes it also takes a certain person, or a certain phrase. Be patient, take care of yourself, and appreciate the ones around you while theyre still here.

Sticking this here because I didn't have any reason to include this in the main post But the 9 year anniversary letter Asriel wrote about Chara really messed me up </3 for many reasons, but also because my brothers favorite number is also 9... ❤️🤝🌼

I may have some vision that may not match the canon, but I will try to describe it all as I imagine it-

And I will start with the torture aspect. I think both Fox and Mist are cruel enough when when they are not in the mood. They are extremely sadistic and never mind demonstrating their dominance again.

Fox is more original and sophisticated in his tortures, able to turn any household item into something to cause pain and torment to MC if they are guilty or just because he can, as well as using his claws and fangs. He can increase the tempo of cruelty of torture, the new will be worse than the previous one.

Mist is not so original in this, she does not really like variety in physical torture, even out of curiosity (+ she is not physically strong at all), but she welcomes humiliation and psychological violence more: I think it suits her perfectly as a cult leader. To keep her people in check, she also uses psychotropic drugs and can use this on MC to make them more suggestible, more fearful and obedient.

And these two kind of complement each other in my head, creating the ultimate cruel union. Often, it is Fox who would inflict severe physical injuries on MC, Mist doesn't like to stain her hands with blood…with rare exceptions.

And now for the pleasant!

It is much easier to get favor with Mist and even playful perverted affection, it is enough to give her only every second of attention :D okay, not every second, but a lot of attention, adoration, even flattery, she loves all this very much and becomes softer, more playful. But here, too, it is important to observe the line, don't fall into adoration too abruptly. If MC really decides to completely surrender to the mistress, then there is a good chance that they will remain crippled. This is similar to the Strade's peak of arousal, when MC does everything TOO RIGHT TOO FAST, here something similar, the cat loves her mouse so much that she wants to bite off a piece: Mist may become more aggressive in her caresses, doing things she has not done before (for example, tempting the pet to kiss her lips in order to bite off their tongue) or wanting to cut off some part of MC's body to eat. And in such moments, it is better to somehow cleverly distract her, and not start to beat in hysterics or strictly refuse.

But if she feels that she is given less attention than Fox, MC also may end up crippled. Fox also loves attention, adoration, demonstration of love and affection, he likes it when the MC needs him, but not nearly as much as Mist, for whom it is literally vital, therefore, as a gentleman, sometimes gives in to the lady. And in general, Fox is more stable in terms of emotions, he does not rush from one extreme to another, it may be easier to establish contact with him, although he can create emotional swings against the backdrop of sudden torture.

In terms of gifts, I think they will both have similarities, because they are both greedy for love to a greater or lesser extent. Thanks to the attention, adoration and obedience of the pet, master and mistress will have a strong desire to pamper the pet with various things, clothes, delicious food, physical contact in the form of stroking or scalp massage and etc (I won't constantly mention the topic of sex, but I think it's also clear that the MC will sleep with the master, with the mistress, or with both at once), they both are not against dressing up, using MC as a doll.

● Embarrassing? Ingo struggles to think of anything that he would necessarily deem as embarrassing. Buuut, other people might find his collection of stuffed toys a little embarrassing. Emmet certainly made some faces at the growing pile on his bed during their younger years. He simply enjoyed how cute many of them were and felt comforted by their presence. It was not the most masculine of hobbies, but Ingo was not the type to be overly focused on that kind of stuff. Of course, he still has this collection, but it is a little more hidden away. They all were things slowly given to him over birthdays and various other events. The memories attached to them meant the world to him.

● Though, as an adult, he does show them to his partner, despite whatever feelings may linger about possible judgement. Really, if they love him, they would not care. But, there is a bit of hesitation in his heart mostly related to being perceived as childish. Granted, after he does, he would feel relieved if they asked pleasant questions about them after picking one up. The lack of judgement puts him at ease as he speaks about the history of each one. The most surprising thing is that he is still building onto it. They are truly important to him.

○ He blinks at the thought of something embarrassing. He is far too confident… Well, until someone sees his collection of figurines. Somehow, he got very much into video games and animated shows and started collecting various characters that he enjoyed. Why is he embarrassed? Well, because he feels that he outgrew most of them, but also simply because he remembers getting strange looks during his youth from his classmates. Really, he cherishes them for what they are, but those feelings from his development struggle to leave. They are kept hidden away in his room on a shelf, and he will admit to forgetting to dust sporadically.

○ Will his partner find out? Yes, absolutely, to his dismay. They likely poke around his room and find it. He tries to pretend that it is something he has been meaning to get rid of, far too embarrassed and flooded with memories from his younger years. When they instead ask about a show or game character they recognise, Emmet feels more at ease. A discussion begins, and he realises they are not judging him at all but rather interested. His front breaks, and he happily chats with them. It seems he finally feels that stigma is broken in his mind – At least with his partner.

👑Lear💎

🪙 The prince declares he has nothing embarrassing about him. It is also no one's business. Except, maybe… No. He refuses to even consider such a thing embarrassing. No, he will not say it. The answer? Well, he had a blanket he was quite obsessed with as a child. Of all the things he could take to his horrible school, this was one of the few. It brought him such comfort through the worst of it all. Yet… It is not very kingly to derive comfort from such a thing. So, he keeps his lips closed about such a thing still being present in his quarters. The blanket was one of the few things he could recall his mother gifting to him, so he never will truly let it go.

🪙 He struggles to admit such a thing to a partner. The idea of being judged for his possession bothers him. Though, it does clearly stand out among the other lavish gatherings on his bed. It is more of a small quilt than anything, made of varying fabrics and patterns. The homely-ness of it seems out of place to his tastes. Picking it up results in him panicking and snatching it from them. A simple explanation of it being his and important leads to more questions. Eventually, he breaks and explains the history of it. This results in them likely finding it sweet and telling him that it is adorable. This makes his face turn red and him stomping off. While still holding the blanket.

🌌Cyrus🛰

☄️ Cyrus's embarrassment is quite simple... A certain toy robot is on his desk. It is brought between work and home, but it is always there. The toy is simple and cute, likely made by a child. There is no function of it anymore, but he will never toss it out. Why? Such fond memories are attached to it. Memories he will never admit to, yet linger in his mind when he least wants them to. A simpler time in his life where he dared allow himself to be playful and to have… He stops himself from remembering. It hurts too much to recall.

☄️ So, when his partner comments on the toy sitting on his desk, he tenses up. Embarrassment floods his heart for having something so childish linger around him. Yet, when they just ask about it without any clear judgement, he simply explains that he has a few memories attached to it. This intrigues them more, naturally, but he is simply biting his tongue with little interest in going into the specifics. All he says is that a friend used to play with him with the toy. More questions than answers. Cyrus never really feels able to elaborate, not with the intense, horrible emotions in his chest. The toy robot remains, at least.

🐈‍⬛️Nanu❤️‍🩹

🌑 When he was a boy? That far back? He struggles to recall anything. Well… A certain cute cat character unfortunately pops into his mind. It was mostly popular among women and girls, but he simply found himself interested in the simple design. He had quite a few figures in his home as decoration and maybe a charm or two on his bag. Nothing is overly noticeable. He could never admit to enjoying it. It was far too embarrassing and almost seemed like a waste of money to him. Yet, he still picked up a few items.

🌑 As an adult, the brand is still around, and he notes that Acerola quite enjoys it. Under the guise of getting gifts for her, he often buys himself one or two things while giving the rest to her. Granted, he gets flustered when his partner picks up one of the figures sitting candidly in his home. His immediate excuse for it being for Acerola falls through when they mention having seen it a few times during their visits. It is then that he admits through gritted teeth that he just likes the design. He expects to be teased, but when they just nod and admit it is cute, he feels shocked. Then, he gets immediately over it and realises that his partner would be the last person to judge him over his interests.

🥼Colress🛸

🧪 His obsession when he was a child? Mostly mad scientists. Is he embarrassed? Only about the incorrect science. Really, looking back on his fascination, he feels more flustered about the incorrect concepts used than the fact he was fascinated with villainous characters. A testament to his future nature as someone who does not necessarily align themselves with morality. Sporadically, while in public places, old movies will play on displays, and he finds himself taken back. Silently, he tries to pretend not to be mildly annoyed with the inaccuracies present. That is more annoying than his own previous fascination.

🧪 He simply tells his partner about it while some old movie plays on the television. It really is not some shocking revelation to anyone who knows him. Really, he could almost fit the archetype if he did not keep himself within the basis of reality. He does mention something about wanting to make more hybrid pokemon, which gets a stare from them. Later, he will admit with little embarrassment that he outgrew the interest because he could not stand the lack of actual science. He feels confident in speaking to them since he has already established a bond with them. Once again, they are not surprised since it is Colress.

When I read this exchange, I immediately thought about The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I know that it generally gets associated with Xavier, and rightfully so, but hear me out. In the story, when asked what taming means, the fox says:

"It means to establish ties." "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world….”

I think it parallels the story between MC and Sylus so well. She met him when he was a random dragon, a fiend to be feared. They started as enemies but slowly established a connection. They warmed up to each other, got used to each other's presence, started to get to know each other, and eventually fell in love. Sylus was used to solitude, he hoarded treasures but it didn't mean much to him, he had all the riches he wanted but it wasn't enough to satisfy him. He was bored and lonely.

"My life is very monotonous," the fox said. "I hunt chickens; men hunt me. All the chickens are just alike, and all the men are just alike. And, in consequence, I am a little bored. But if you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life. I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. Other steps send me hurrying back underneath the ground. Yours will call me, like music, out of my burrow. And then look: you see the grain-fields down yonder? I do not eat bread. Wheat is of no use to me. The wheat fields have nothing to say to me. And that is sad. But you have hair that is the color of gold. Think how wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The grain, which is also golden, will bring me back the thought of you. And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat . . ."

I think that when Sylus speaks about taming what he means is that he wants her to become part of his life, that he wants to get used again to having her around. He uses similar metaphors in many of his dialogues, like in Greedy Heart and Approaching Dusk.

And I think that MC is Sylus' rose. He cherishes her above everything else, because she is part of him, exactly the way the little prince cherishes his rose because among all others only that rose is his to take care of.

"Of course, an ordinary passerby would think my rose looked just like you. But my rose, all on her own, is more important than all of you together, since she's the one I've watered. Since she's the one I put under glass, since she's the one I sheltered behind the screen. Since she's the one for whom I killed the caterpillars (except the two or three butterflies). Since she's the one I listened to when she complained, or when she boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing at all. Since she's my rose."

"But you mustn’t forget it. You become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed."

I’ve never considered owning hybrids. 

I've always thought that they deserved to be free, and treated like people. Unfortunately in this state of politics it won't happen anytime soon.

Even then, the three hybrids who now live with me, almost seem like they wouldn’t operate on their own.

San… my pretty panther.

He's always been bad at leaving the apartment. When he does, he wears headphones. One's specialized for hybrids to cancel out noise. He can’t handle crowded places, sounds of screams happiness, or fear, or simple everyday noises like bells. You never notice how common it is until you have a hybrid flinch and grip you so hard it causes skin and clothes to rip. 

He’s exotic… and pretty but so so damaged. 

He’s never wanted to sit down and talk to me about what it was like nor do I ever expect him to. He wants to forget… he’s cried out how he wishes he could forget.

If only I could grant that wish to him. On his month anniversary, – when it was only me and Wooyoung by his side – he asked if we could go to the park. 

He loves watching TV. He also finds the sappy movies where you go to scenic places and just… soak it in. San couldn’t do that. That day a kid approached us and asked to touch San, but he wasn’t good with touch either. He flinches… so Wooyoung distracted the kid after they pull San’s tail. Innocent curiosity… kids don’t understand what no means when they are so young. 

After that day he locked himself in his room. 

He hates the outside world. Filled with cruel people and reminders of his past. 

It's a miracle he trusts me as much as he does. I once wanted to take him to a restaurant… but the door had a bell chime. It made him freeze until I commanded him and we went home. 

He will wait for a command and it's necessary to snap him out of it. 

Kun wanted him to continue therapy but he’s still not used to it. Shortly maybe? Whether that's in a year or two or maybe never. 

Despite how damaged he is, he’s truly an amazing person. He’s sensitive and caring… he’s beautiful. 

He cares so much about me, about Wooyoung, even the newest addition of Yeosang.

He always makes sure I'm not overworking with my book when I lose track of the hours. Whilst he makes sure to reassure Wooyoung with praises and sweet nothings everyday. Even Yeosang, he helps him with his traumas… assures him that he has them and that he isn't alone. 

Sannie, my first hybrid and I'd do everything to have him in my life – to be in his heart all over again.

“May this be the first life of many I live with you, you’re my reason to continue living”

Wooyoung… a sweet hyperactive fox.

He could go on for hours and hours doing any activity as long as he was having fun or with any three of us who joined him. 

He isn’t good at leaving the apartment either.

As much as he denies it he's still scared of me abandoning him one day. So when he does go out with me he's always glued to my side. Holding my hand or simply looping our arms.

He also feels the need to “make himself useful” since his previous owners had him do chores and cook for them since they were expecting a baby and were busy. 

His stress also gets him which is obvious because of how clingy he becomes and even picks at his own fur. His mind was constantly working and overthinking and I had to get used to praising him and reassuring him how much I loved him. 

It wasn’t hard but it hurt to know he needed constant reassurance to understand he’s loved by not only me but also to make sure he isn't a burden to San or Yeosang. 

He has a very bad mental health… one which will make him experience very long or even very short depressive episodes. 

In those days I spend most of my time in his room trying to offer him comfort. Sometimes we stay in silence or we’ll talk about nothing important for hours until we sleep in each other's arms. 

I owed Wooyoung a lot… he was there for me when I was in school and when my parents weren’t necessarily present in my life. He was there… he was always there and it's the least I could do for him. 

I’d be by his side for as long as he wants me. 

“I’ve loved you like it was love at first sight! My dream became a reality and I'm not ready to ever wake up”

Yeosang… my protective doberman.

I always found it interesting how my friends thought that San was the most protective and even though he is, San was a sweetheart. While Yeosang was intimidating. He hates the socialite life… in return doesn’t trust my friends. He also hates leaving the apartment, claiming it's his safe haven and always with his silly little nickname… angel. 

Claiming that's what I was… someone who saved him from his life in hell. Brought him back up, made him smile, and forgave him for his sins. He hates being reminded of his past… it's known that I had him and people will sometimes send me emails and texts to ask him for photoshoots. 

He, however, wanted to live a life of peace away from the media and the sins that others committed. 

He hates the attention, the photos, the videos, the whispers, and the gossip when he does come out with me. He’s a dog hybrid… he has good sight, good hearing… and good smell. He could tell when they gossiped about his prostitution background and even said horrid things. Not like he’d ever tell me what they said since… he didn’t want to make me sad or angry. He endured a lot… but he didn’t have to do it alone anymore. She was gone… and she’s never had a chance to get close to him again. 

If he saw me as his guardian angel, I’d act like it. I’d protect him with my life.

- i understand and read Aaron as a very no bullshit guy, but like, that’s it. he’s not mean about it, not cruel, not condescending, not teasing, not fake, not anything. (unless u are Neil Josten) i think that it’s very refreshing and fascinating to Jean? to meet someone who really has no ulterior motives whatsoever, in life and with his person. very trust material in Jean’s eyes methinks. the very just middle between overly sweet positivity and stabbing despair? idk, i just think Aaron shared Andrew’s honesty, but in a more neutral, idgaf way. does that make sense?

- for what Neil did for Jean, Aaron truly starts to resent him less and less thanks to Jean offering a less idealistic vision of Neil that Andrew and the Foxes all share, but showing him Neil’s true colors that can also be good despite their violence.

- back to the honesty think, i think where Jeanaaron differs from Kevaaron and is instead more similar to Andreil, is that the walls have to be taken down very painstakingly; Kevin and Aaron already know each other and have seen each others worse, there’s no armour to go through; Jean and Aaron don’t know each other at first, but they understand each other like no one, so it’s a game of truth too, one at a time, tearing down those barriers and touching that soft true heart behind; what makes them panic, what makes them scream, what plagues their nights and days, what lures in their past… it’s a whole new process of dealing with your trauma when no one else could ever handle it, much less want to look at it and kiss it better anyway.

The Golden Raven first impressions review (no spoilers in the first part, will warn ahead when I add specific spoilers)

I'm going to tag it as spoilers just in case, but I can't help but put my thoughts out there.

My heart is so full after reading this. It also grew fonder and fonder for Jeremy and Jean to the point I felt almost suffocated by it. We got so much new lore and so much character depth. And Laila and Cat. Oh my god, did the found family go hard on this one. I've not been one to have very vivid reactions while reading but I spent the last ten minutes crying.

The character growth and depth, the ups and downs, the progress. I want to kiss Nora's creative brain. I'm so happy she decided Jean deserved a chance to have his story told. I'm so happy Jeremy got the time to shine he deserved. And boy did he SHINE. To see these characters that I've spent so long speculating over, so many years of wondering and imaging and dreaming of what they might be like grow and become fully fleshed, beautiful personalities with tender and raw interactions is making me stupidly emotional.

The romance. Ah, the classic Nora, burning slow but burning bright. How can I wait for the third book, having seen Jean and Jeremy interact in such a manner? Knowing they are already so important to each other? This dynamic, this love and care between them it's something so so raw and so so good. The sexual attraction, but also the want behind it. Stop me or I won't stop talking about it.

The Trojans shone through, but Cat and Laila, Xavier and Cody stole the spotlight on multiple occasions. Nora just knows how to hit you with that found family until it hurts. Laila and Jeremy and Cat and Jean and then all four of them together, I'm afraid that dynamic is unmatched and unlike anything Nora has ever written.

Of course, who would I be if I didn't comment on Kevin and his scenes? Just enough to feel like a treat, and all the interactions between him and Jean and him and Jeremy gave us so much insight from so many different angles, I feel spoiled.

Of course, all the foxes cameos where treats, all the little snippets we got to see with their continuation. Sometimes it felt a bit much, but I have a feeling I know where Nora will be going with this in the third book.

Despite the length of the book, I didn't really feel as if it was too long. I'll let my recency bias settle and probably write another review with more spoilers and details but until then I couldn't help but add my own dime on this.

Jeremy and Jean had my heart from the beginning of this journey, hell from even way before that, but now I'm absolutely ride or die for them.

SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT

Some of my favourite moments jumbled up (ill add later):

• Obviously, learning more about Jeremy, about now messy he is and how much he is struggling to stay in control. About how lowly he treats himself and his own happiness but how quickly he jumps to defend others'. Jeremy learning French with a Marseille accent for Jean. Jeremy who wants to please everyone, who makes a mess of his own personal life and yet stays a devoted captain. He wants to treat people with kindness, to crawl away from the dark place he'd been in. Who doesn't realize how much he is worth and how shitty he has been treated.

• Jean slowly progressing into acknowledging more and more of the cruelty of the Ravens. Jean "I deserve to get better" Moreau. Jean who will choose Laila and Cat and Jeremy over anyone. Jean who called Rhemann and Wymack his fathers, who saw the fireworks and added them to his little mantra. Whose favourite colour is brown because it reminds him of all those he is growing to love. Jean who keeps the promise he made to Kevin to keep on living. Jean, who was quick to jump to Jeremy's defence at any given moment that the other needed it. The little kiss on the cheek, the touches, helping each other, eyeing each other, pining from a distance.

• Laila who sees Jeremy as her brother, who would do anything for him. Laila who lost everything she held dear and yet she chooses to move on because she has her family around her. Cat who lifts everyone spirits, who encourages Jean to embrace what he loves, encourages him to get a bike, is always there to check if he is okay. Both of them helping him with his eating disorder. Doing their best to help him adjust. Doing their best to protect Jeremy from his self-destruction.

• Kevin with his tough and harsh love. Kevin and Jean who deny being friends but doing so much for one another. Their little shared touches and their banter and their old man arguing. Kevin who bought Jean a postcard the moment he saw Jean's was ruined. Kevin and his friendship with Jeremy. How open he was with him, how much they were both trying to understand each other, how much they were trying for Jean.

• Jean tackling his sexuality over and over again. Slowly breaking free because "whose rules? The dead kid's?". Jeremy proving his worth time and time again despite his past, despite how people kept using his sexuality against him.

• Jean's sass and retorts, Jeremy and Cat's jokes. So many little diamonds in those quotes. Their teasing and their banter and their inside jokes.

• Adopting Jabberwocky and how happy it made them, how its going to bring this family even closer. How silly and stupidly excited it got Jeremy. Ugh, my heart.

Since Xavier is so little prince coded is mc the lone rose 🌹 back on his planet or the fox 🦊

Ohhh wow Anon..I didn't want to think too much on this, mostly because I read The Little Prince like..years ago and the plot isn't that coherently in my head but let's see..

The obvious interpretation can be..

Xavier is the little prince, traveling through the space, wandering on all these planets, learning something new everyday, learning from the people he meets and in turn teaching them something as well..

Queen MC should represent the rose, the Prince’s beloved whom he has left. In the book, the Prince leaves the Rose due to her vain, proud and naive behaviour. But here in Love and Deepspace, the Prince has left his beloved in order to save her from the fate destined for her..In a way, the rose has always been the major source of motivation for his travels..

Then..that must imply that the Fox represents the current timeline MC? In a way, yeah you could say that. The Fox becomes a dear friend and teaches the prince the significance of people in his life. About how one person in this sea of so many, becomes important because of the connection we share with said person, and the time we spend cultivating said relationship with them. The Fox calls this “taming”. According to the fox, “to tame means to establish ties.”

“If you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world.” says the Fox.

And since Xavier has left his planet, as well as his timeline and met the current MC, they both have been slowly taming each other i.e. they've been slowly establishing a bond with each other with every encounter and moment spent together in the main story.

Now in The Little Prince..

The Fox teaches the Prince the importance of ties and significance of one person compared to the rest around them:

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

And the Fox makes the Prince realize how dear his beloved Rose is to him, and that he has a responsibility towards the Rose:

“You mustn’t forget it. You become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed. You’re responsible for your rose.”

So if Love and Deepspace writers take the same route..

then in accordance, there will come a point that Xavier might have to leave the current MC and go back to his own timeline’s Queen MC (which is exactly what he came back in time for) because he has a responsibility. And the responsibility in this context is that he vowed to himself that he'll save her life. Get her out of this cursed fate of dying and being brought back to life over and over for the sake of a planet.

BUT!

THIS IS A CHINESE OTOME GAME! And yes while that justifies nothing, I firmly believe that it is highly unlikely that the game might follow this route..

..simply because Xavier himself has never acted as such. He's been nothing but protective towards the current MC. He's been killing his own ex-teammates from the Backtrackers in order to protect MC. And he doesn't hesitate in doing so which in itself cement his standpoint and his feelings towards the current MC.

Also, I believe that..IN ESSENCE, QUEEN MC AND CURRENT MC HAVE THE SAME SOUL, AND ARE THE SAME PERSON.

So our MC doesn't need to be the Rose or the Fox. She most likely is both a cherished friend and a lover to Xavier because she is afterall, the same person. With the amount of times she's died (or forced into dying), it's obvious that the Queen MC from Xavier's actual timeline could very well be the current MC who's died so many times that in a distant future, she is reborn and exists in the same era as the one that Xavier comes from.

My word is not absolute, and this is still a very rough way to put it all into words. But I do firmly believe that that one thing that the antis keep using to antagonise Xavier will not come true because he's always been in love with ONE person and our MC as well as the Queen MC are THAT one and the same person.

» But hey! If Xavier does betray current timeline MC, then we might possibly get a plotline/route like I posted about [HERE] and I am not averse to that.

For those who don’t know – don’t get confused, the „Chaos Squad“ is working on a definition and is in it’s finding phase 😂 As I see this, we‘re fun chaotic artists / writers / else collab group and want people to enjoy fun and inspiring-each-other-into-creating escalations with us in the Star Wars fandom 🤩🫶✨

Naruto has always had very few scars.

Marks aren't left easily on his skin. Growing up, it's one of the few benefits having Kurama sealed in him gave. He never got sick, the physical attacks thrown at him never left anything lasting, and his energy levels made him capable of running as far and as hard as he needed to in order to get away. Having the fox in him got him shunned, but it gave him the fortitude he needed to survive.

Almost every injury he's ever gotten has faded. Even the deep ones seem to sink away over time, melting away into the tan of his skin. Usually, Naruto sees that as a blessing. It's easier to leave hard times behind when there's no tangible reminder forever marring your skin.

Now, though... it's not that Naruto is pouting. He's really not! He's just also... not not pouting, that's all.

It isn't the biggest deal in the world. He's not trying to be dramatic or anything, because this is truly as first world as any one person's problem can get. He just can't help but frown at his own reflection when he sees it, his head tilted ever so slightly to the side as he traced his eyes up and down the mirror image of his own skin.

His missing arm isn't something that'll ever be truly fixed, but it hardly bothers him anyway. It had been a small price to pay ultimately, and Naruto was satisfied having paid it. That's not the problem. The problem is--

It's his neck. Or more specifically, the growing lack of marks on it. 

The only one left is the deep bite Kashi had given him, teeth sinking in far enough to draw blood. At the time, Naruto had been fairly confident it would stick around so long as Kurama didn't consciously focus his chakra around it like he did for most of Naruto's injuries. And like, it had, for a time. Just not long enough.

Naruto had wanted it to be permanent! Not because he's weird, but because... uh. Because! Like, Kashi had given it to him specifically. He could've chosen to bite anyone, but he chose to bite Naruto. It was the first one, and that felt important. Binding. When Kakashi had bitten him, it had felt like a promise.

Only now that promise is fading away and Naruto doesn't like it. He gets that what they have goes beyond the need for physical proof, but that doesn't mean Naruto hadn't enjoyed seeing it anyway. Feeling the ache anytime he turned his head, running his fingers over the slightly raised skin, catching Kakashi staring, like he wanted to do it again.

He hadn't yet, of course. Naruto's got no idea why. They both love each other and like Kurama said, Kashi totally want to bang. Pretty badly, apparently. But... why hadn't he? Was he feeling shy or something? Because he'd already bit Naruto once-- the least he could do was do it again.

Behind him, Kakashi didn't seem to notice Naruto's intense scrutinizing of himself, nor did he react to his outburst. He was too busy humming to himself, cheerfully toweling the dampness from Naruto's hair. The gentle motion felt good enough that Naruto almost forgot why he was even upset to begin with. Almost, but not quite.

"I said that with the full expectation that he'd be biting you again, in the same spot, multiple times. Like the fucking fiend he is." Kurama sounded utterly disgusted at the mere thought. "Honestly, his restraint is surprising. I expected him to get a taste and immediately be unable to help himself. I'm kind of impressed."

"I'm not." Naruto whined. "Is it really so much to ask for? He already said yes to the dining room table!"

Hiiii so I recently came across your Lost Girl AU and I don’t have the time to scroll through everything to find all the info on the AU right now would you be able to just go over the basic info/lore of this AU? Sorry if this comes across as a bit snobby I can’t think of words right now. Love what little bits I have seen of the AU tho BYEEEEEE

oh dear, I hope you don't mind me dumping everything into your ask, I think this would probably be a valuable thing to have on my page!

The Lost Girl AU is a kotlc au that takes the original storyline and puts a more adult/young adult spin on it. I am also (along with my team) focusing on filling in the plot holes that come up with someone writes such a long series and (let's be honest) doesn't know what the ending is going to look like when they start.

there are two major changes i've made

Plot

The AU is fit into 3/4 'arcs' which will eventually be found on my Ao3.

arc 1, which is already started is called The Girl from Across the Waves and will follow Sophie through a modified events of the first three books.

(arc 2 will be books 4-6 and so on)

Sophie is 13 when she is kidnapped by a 'black swan' (neverseen) and in the panic, awakens her dormient telepathic abilities, calling out to Fitz, a strange boy she has befriended.

Fitz and Keefe had a falling out pre-fic. While Fitz is the golden child of the purest blood, Keefe is more guarded; scorned by adults, sharp as a thorn brush. he is as close to a faery as one might get, in this new world.

Linh and Tam were banished to a human realm (exillium does not exist in this AU).

Foxfire is a school for the nobility, it is much less like a traditional school, it is preparing the students for school for life as keepers, councilors, and regents. Each year there is a tournament and final exams - the bottom 10% are expelled from the school.

Sofitz does happen, however, the endgame ships in this AU are fedex, sokeefe, and marelinh.

Lore

the changes in KOTLC lore are the most important part. some of you might've guessed this from the designs i've shared, but elves have a very different history in The Lost Girl AU. I'm a big Celtic and Germanic mythology nerd and the elves in this au are the ultra eugenized versions of fae from the legends of long past.

once upon a time they were one with the natural world - their shapes fluid, their minds wicked. they were beings that resided entirely off magic. some of the ancients still bare remains of this time (Fintan's goat horns and cloven hooves). There are stories, passed down carefully between families, the Dinzee's used to be sly foxes, the Heks were once borne of unicorns, but the power they once had has dissipated.

The Council, in an attempt to maintain order and control, has placed each species, each ability user, into ranks and levels when once all lived together. Keeping ones bloodline pure is held in the highest regard. Marella suffers from this, as a elf/pixie hybrid, she struggles with discrimination everywhere she goes, Dex as well, but too a lesser extend (Kesler is probably a hyrbid, I'm not sure what from yet, thinking ogre?). Sophie is called a changling, in truth, she is something far grander.

the other species are going to be more mythological as well, gnomes are pretty much a slave race after the elves killed their ruling class. goblins are tricky little beasts, etc. I care about preserving the mischief of fae.

This is where Sophie comes in, the Black Swan created someone who is quite like the elves of old - she has no limits on her powers, and as she grows, she becomes more and more connects to the land of the Lost Cities. She learns to draw her power from it.

It is two am right now and my adhd will not leave me alone at all. So here’s some constructive criticism on CRK specifically in an area where I don’t see other people point out other than it’s rigged gacha system (I haven’t played in a while so I don’t know if it’s been fixed) towards pay to play players

I really do love the game, it’s probably one of the only mobile games I have played for such a long time. But the thing I really hate is how many new characters they constantly introduce. The roster of characters is getting bigger and bigger and it’s getting harder for me to keep up. Now, introducing brand new characters into a game like this is fine, but not when you already a giant roster of already existing characters. These existing characters are also really good characters with incredible designs and I want to see more of them, but the only thing we get is the story their update provides or a small event, then there thrown to the side for the next new character. I wanna see more of rebel cookie, raspberry cookie, cherry blossom cookie, tiger lily cookie, and much more cookies that already exist. I don’t care if it’s a back story, a small side plot just for a mini game, cookie shenanigans, or related to the current story, I just want to see the cookies I’ve learned to love when I first joined the game. I will also bring up that I also don’t like how most of the screen time and story mostly goes to the legendary cookies along with gingerbrave. I understand their importance to the story, but it’s a lot and I feel really sad that other epic cookies will never get that kind of treatment when it comes to their stories. Heck!! Kumhio cookie’s description says that she wanted to be a cookie even though she was a fox and managed to do that, but we don’t get to see that at all. No event, no back story, just a description you have to read. The same is also applied to sobert shark cookie, there’s so much potential for an event or something related to these cookies and yet we get nothing. Black pearl cookie has mentioned seeing Sobert shark cookie which means they have canonically met and I would love to see the time when they did. Or even them just seeing each other again, I can just see black pearl cookie looking at sobert shark cookie in his cookie form and hearing him go “OoooOooOooOooOoOo” and giving him the most judgmental and disgusted look you will ever see from her and going “What in the mighty seas??” I loved the playing the beginning of the game just from how many stories of cookies you got from the islands, expanding the land, meeting certain points, but now that I finished all of those, it feels empty and sad. I hope CRK will improve in that aspect, while I wait, I’m going to enjoy the new characters we are getting. They are still very nice and love the work they get put into them. I think they just want to stick making a new cast of characters rather than just being a complete 1-1 roster of CROB. It makes the Ovenbreak characters all the more hype when they do come to CRK.

So. Since you've properly read Pinocchio now. What are your thoughts on how the book was adapted into Cedar and her dad in EAH

I need everyone to look me dead in my eyes, okay? I love Ever After High. I love Pinocchio. 

No matter what I say later, you have to remember I love Ever After High, okay? Got that? Good. 

That being said, Pinocchio and Cedar in EAH don’t really seem to be based on the book, as much as the Disney movie (I know, I know, booo and all that), in the way that most modern adaptations of Pinocchio are based on the Disney movie. Cultural phenomena and all that.

I would like to break down some points of Pinocchio, link them back to Ever After High, and then explain what this means to me later. Okay? Let’s go!

[Please note that I make points in the order they came to me and NOT in the order of how they reference each other. This isn’t a professional essay, and nobody is allowed to grade me. Also, this is purely from memory, so if I’m wrong, I’m wrong.]

What it means to be good (obedience, honesty, school/hard work)

The story of Pinocchio deals a lot with what it means to be good, a concept that does mostly carry over. Usually, good means honest, right?

Being good in the book means a lot of things. Pinocchio is often scolded and punished for being lazy, for being disobedient, and, yes, for being dishonest. He’s a complainer, he’s greedy, he wants to get rich fast without doing any of the work, and he loathes the idea of going to school. Classic little kid things, really.

School is the biggest one. As soon as Pinocchio is up and moving (and, y’know, after Geppetto gets out of prison— long story—), he is told he has to go to school. And he immediately, and I do mean immediately, skips. He sells his school book to go to a puppet show.

Later in the book, the reason the Blue Fairy plans to make Pinocchio human is because he did well and was diligent in school for a good part of the year.

Hard work is also a big one. After Pinocchio and Romeo get turned into donkeys, Pinocchio is sold to the circus, and is forced to do tricks and stuff to earn his food.

In the very end, to show he is good, and ultimately deserving of being real, he does hard work to earn money for his ailing father, and the Blue Fairy once he becomes aware of her being in a poor state. He grows from being an undeniably bad child, to being a good one.

Pinocchio lies to get out of trouble, more often than not. He lies to the Blue Fairy about being sick, about what happened with the Fox and Cat to get him hung from a tree, and about skipping school. 

And eventually, he just. Stops. He must have figured it was more harm than it was worth.

Blue Fairy

The Blue Fairy is a pretty big part of the book, something not reflected in EAH.

She starts off in a little sister role, getting Pinocchio brought down from where he’s been hung from a tree. Then he gets out of jail (long story) and finds out she is dead.

Then she comes back, transitioning into a mother role as Geppetto has had an… unfortunate accident at sea. The Blue Fairy is a fairly forgiving figure in Pinocchio’s life, giving him numerous opportunities to prove he is good, and that he is worthy of being human.

The Blue Fairy is so so so patient with Pinocchio, and sometimes he doesn’t deserve it. And I love her for it.

All that being said, Farrah should have been way more important and involved in Cedar’s life, ESPECIALLY since Cedar has already lost a Blue Fairy.

 Do you think I forgot?! Hell no! Did y’all forget that Cedar’s Blue Fairy went poof?

Considering how important the Blue Fairy is to Pinocchio (how they live together for a good while before the Donkey-ing, how quickly he mourns her), there is no doubt in my mind that Cedar’s Blue Fairy was very important to her.

We don’t know how she felt about the poofing, and we don’t know how their interactions went pre-poofing.

But this is about Farrah.

If Farrah is truly gonna take on the Blue Fairy role, they would have to do more than just say it. Let them hang out in the background, let them talk a couple of times.

I just think they should have been more of a Thing, y’know? The Blue Fairy is too important to the story for Farrah taking over to not be a Certified Big Deal.

Danger

According to my partner @the-lavender-creator and my good buddy @rarepairqueenmochi, the fox and the cat that appear in Darling’s horse’s tragic backstory would hang a child if it made them money. I would like to believe that it’s a point towards the fox and cat being very similar to their book counterparts.

Which means that maybe all the other super dangerous stuff that happens in Pinocchio could also happen in the Ever After High Universe. For example, Pinocchio almost gets battered and pan-fried at some point, could that happen in EAH?

What about the hanging? What about when the Black cat tries to stab Pinocchio? When he spends a little time drowning as a donkey?

I don’t know, and you don’t either. Moving on.

Pinocchio as a Character

Pinocchio starts off the story as a sort of gullible miscreant. He gets warned by numerous characters that “if you do this, things will go wrong” and he does it in spite of them. For goodness sake, he kills the Talking Cricket with a hammer because the cricket calls him an idiot for thinking he can lounge around and have fun all day. (The cricket kinda deserved it, tbf. Don’t call him an idiot. That’s a kid.)

Pinocchio is also (sort of) a sweet boy. He wants to do the right thing, but he also wants to do the easy thing, the fun thing. 

Why go straight home to his father with five gold coins and go to school the next day like a good boy, when he can go with these two people he just met and make way more money really easily?

Why go home to the Blue Fairy when Romeo’s promising him endless fun?

What you have to remember is that during the story, Pinocchio is (to my knowledge) between the ages of 6 to 10, and it shows.

We don’t know a lot about Pinocchio in EAH, unfortunately. We know he was friends with King Charming and Goldilocks in high school, and that he’s notably a wooden boy still.

I don’t think teenagers can really go through the plot of Pinocchio (not saying that teenagers can’t make the decisions he does, just that they are older, more informed, and likely more cautious. It takes more effort to get a teenager to bury money in the hope that it’ll grow a tree, for example.), but that’s just me.

Cedar as Pinocchio

Cedar is not a gullible miscreant. Cedar loves her father too much to sentence him to two years in a stomach.

Cedar Wood wants more than ever to be human, and able to lie. I love her so much; she would never recover from going through book Pinocchio’s shenanigans. If we assume that the Legacy system will go through the same beats and lessons, despite prior personality and values, then she’s, quite frankly, fucked.

Cedar doesn’t need to learn the lessons book Pinocchio, or even Disney Pinocchio needed to learn, about honesty, hard work, and accountability.

Maybe she can learn about the divide between wisdom and age, which would lend itself well to the whole Rebel cause that Cedar aligns herself with. Being that she’s willing to call out Milton Grimm for lying, though, she probably doesn’t need to learn that one either.

Okay, now that I’ve gotten all of that out of my system, let’s talk about what that all means.

Nothing, really.

Ever After High, for better or worse, doesn’t dig into the fairytale theme as much as it could. This means that we never get a full picture of the exact version of the story most characters are being prodded towards. They mention that the stories have changed over time, but how.

Cedar and the story of Pinocchio are no exceptions. Many of the details can be inferred, but many are just hopeful guesses on my part. 

However, while trying to tell a story about Legacy, they could have utilized elements of the story to add a little specificity to the nuances of Cedar advocating for choice.

It would make sense, given how the story of Pinocchio goes, that she wouldn’t want to go through with it, but she has to to get to the ending. The happy ending probably cancels out all the stuff she has to go through in everyone’s eyes, but it doesn’t to me.

Cedar will make choices that go directly against her personality, against her and her father’s wellbeings, and she will have to be okay with that when she becomes human. How does that make her feel as she heads towards her story? How does that make her feel as her friends choose not to follow their destinies? Does she decide to change how the story goes?

TLDR; it was adapted fine. I personally wish we had more Pinocchio themes and aspects referenced and mentioned by Cedar and her father, but considering how little Cedar is the main focus/a major character, I probably shouldn’t be picky. I’m just happy she was on screen/on the page.
