HMMMMMMMAH rly hard to tell. Ok sorry bleach fans i love u but im gonna shit talk this show a bit. Pls dont read if u cant handle me rambling abt my personal experience w a show meant for 15 year old boys. I actually love it deeply !!!!!!! I enjoy ir a lot!!!!! However. I really struggle w watching the show sometimes. Its over 300 eps + the movies which i havent even gotten started with. It's difficult bc theres a lot of cool moments too but good lird esp at tge start the fights consist of characters deciding that they have more soul power bc of some memory they had and beatinh eachother. Everyone is confident there is character variety but everyone is like supposed 2 be a huge badass and idk thats just not my type of media (which is why orihime is actually one of my favourite characters bc she stands in such contrast w her confidence issues and damseliness. Also Ishida i love Ishida i love his arc in the umm when they had the bounts and his self reflection about his inabilitu to help the others + hes always rly analytical in fights. Mayuri too bcs all of his power comes from thinking & experimenrting & PREPARADNESS. I dont remember him ever mentioning soul power bc hes like only talking about technique. Zaraki is also incrhesting bc he is overpowered, but to a point of ridiculousness and where he has an one punch man styled conflict w being unable 2 find someone he has fun fightinh w) i like casts full of losers and freaks. Talking of freaks Tite Kubo is one and will NOT stop making fucked up jokes, esp about girls. His humour is shit theres been like. One scene where i laughed out loud and it was bc ichigos dad pelted him w no mercy bc hes used 2 him being able to fight but ichigo was just tired and he flew thru the room thats fr the only time ive laughed. Theres a lot of rly dark topics also treated very lightly, including when it comes to Mayuri??? Esp his treatment of Nemu. As far as ive seen!!! The storyline has an interesting end in the manga tho and like it seems more thoughtful but ive yet to see that. But the treatment of Nemu as a prop to show how awful Mayuri is and to also be fanservice rly. It frusturates me. Theres so much like, interesting stuff you could do w her character. Again tho im at ep like 180 so maybe there will be!!!! For the good tho Tite Kubo has just. Theeee most incredible eye for character design in my eyes hes so fuckinh good its ridiculous. Even a lot of the side characters are mega memorable and its no wonder a lot of thr characters are absolutely iconic. Also the show definetly gets better the beginninh is just so. Slow. As u can prolly pick up from my earlier notes there are a couple characters that i fuxking loooove aside from Mayuri. As for mayuri he is fuckinh viile and they make some gross jokes abt him too but he is so. Ill b real hes just sexy and also transformation coded so. Literally childhood fave chinhands emoji idc. There also are some great interactions between characters!!! Thr main characters rly care abt eachothef and are so devoted 2 taking care of eachother and i think thats lovely. They can be cranky and mean but theyre always worried for eachother and rwady to help and i think thats just so sweet i like that dynamic. Sorry i di have more to say abt the show as u can see i have some big big emotions abt it and i care abt iy sm but it also often frusturates me deeply a lot of tje time. Its a show you endure. Thank god it jas a dub bc i am watcjing it while knitting / drawing etc.

Apologies for the rant buuut I love this character and scene so much I just gotta.

In the beginning scene you see 3GS not caring about 1 or 3g really unless it came to their success with the mission. He states that they must not abandon the mission at all costs.. later on he hears 1 explode but keeps moving foreward. When he gets to the ship he says “you two” and seems genuinely shocked that 1 had died. You also see him genuinely upset when 3g dies right in front of him.

This honestly seems really similar to how cobs seems to act towards the mephones and other meeple products. Not caring for them as people and only caring about their success.

Now we get to the scene mid ep. You see 3GS happy to see people. He seems caring towards people he doesn’t even know. This contrasts how we see him earlier (first paragraph). You see 3GS telling these complete strangers to avoid cobs because he knows first hand the damage he causes and doesn’t want them do suffer like he did. You also see him telling them to “abandon the mission” which is the exact opposite of what he said in the first scene.

Now I believe that during his time in the closet 3gs took time to think about his previous actions. He feels guilt over how he handled the invasions and he feels responsible for 3g and 1s death. He tries to protect knife and 3gs from cobs so that he doesn’t loose people he cares about again. You see his ideals do a 180 from earlier too! Goes from only caring about people success and not their safety to the opposite which I think is really neat. Makes me think that with time away from cobs all the ideals that were pushed on him eventually wore off.

Also the end where he asks them to leave him in the closet is a little explained by Brian in his ii16 stream. 3gs doesn’t move because he can’t, it’s that he’s mentally unprepared to. He’s not ready to leave the closet. He doesn’t feel like he should. Whatever cobs told or did to him made him feel like he deserves to be in there and thus he doesn’t feel like he should leave…

the 3gs scene is genuinely so hard for me to watch. Just something about this guy being so excited to be talking to literally anybody at all including these two strangers something about this guy having been sitting there alone for who knows how long since being thrown in there something about this guy being trapped in this horrible place with nothing having accidentally scared away his last visitor. Something about this guy begging these two strangers to not go see cobs and they promise to come back for him but there's no way you can actually promise that. He doesn't know if he will actually ever see them again. And so he sits there all alone again

hi tea!! ive been 👀 at reset lately do u feel like telling me a bit about it? like i know it's about a time loop but it seems a bit long to be going over and over for 15 eps 😅

cata, beloved!! that is exactly what i thought when i first started it! i was like "how are they gonna stretch a time loop over an entire series??" and then a few eps in i 180'd and thought "how have ppl been able to fit time loops into only one ep/movie??" it seems like it'd be annoyingly repetitive, but surprisingly it isn’t! the individual loops tend to last a while and the plot is pretty different in each one. because of the decisions the main characters make and their goal of ending the loop by doing things differently, it doesn’t seem like watching the same thing over again, even when there are details or motions you know in advance. it keeps you on your toes each loop and helps with that redundancy.

the way it is edited also helps. for loops that are a lot shorter and can be redundant, the show presents them to us in intriguing manners that personally kept up my (generally very bad) attention. and this goes for more than just the repetition! i love the cinematography and editing of reset, it heightens the mystery elements and knows just how long to focus on one scene/storyline to keep the audience engaged but not bored. through a technical lens, i honestly think the series is a work of art and has been made by people who are v good at their jobs.

now, the shining factor of the drama is truly the stories it tells and the heart it has. the time loop plot is fun and exciting and mysterious and all that, but, like the lovely sofia @ahxu-laowen said, “apart from the very intriguing plot, this story is about kindness and empathy”. the language arts nerd in me is popping out here but every character is a round character and almost all of them are dynamic. we get to see so much more than just the protags and their adventures with the time loop. we get to peer into the lives of the people around them, those who generally would be tertiary characters instead become deuteragonists that the series makes us care about and empathize with. and the magic of this is especially present in the main character shi qing, who is kind to all of them and listens to (or investigates into) their stories. without giving anything away, even the antagonist is round and dynamic, and i think it serves to give us a fantastically fleshed out story. it's so much more than just a time loop.

and of course, while not the main focus and definitely more subtle, the romance is just *chef’s kiss*. i know you watched happiness, so i'd say its romance is very similar to that of reset. i've said this so many times to so many people, but i am just the biggest sucker for that whole "we've been through so much together/only trust each other" dynamic. i mean, (to paraphrase @bittergloss) the intimacy of being trapped somewhere that only they know the truth about even though they exist with everyone else?? having to fight and struggle to survive and get out while only having each other to lean on??? staying by each other's side bc goddamn it they've gotten this far together and going on any other way is just wrong???? that shit does things to me 😭😭😭 so yeah, if you liked that about happiness i think you'll enjoy it in reset as well.

and just some closing remarks on the comparison of reset to happiness bc they're very similar in my mind (though that may just be bc i hyperfixated on them back to back absdjsk). they've both got the same balance of plot/action to personal relationships and the plots are v similar from a danger/urgency standpoint. idk, i just think they have v similar vibes and i enjoyed both immensely!

me and kate @snowbasttien rewatched wedding - present last weekend and had a great time, it was great, would encourage everyone to rewatch and bask in robron going on some insane emotional journeys and being in love - on rewatch we both agreed that the story felt pretty balanced to us, likely because we didn’t have to deal with the hiatuses in between, but i suppose that differs person to person

but it reminded me how much good potential the ellis/billy stuff has when it’s interweaved with robron and that’s exciting

robert has this big habit of trying to play god with the people around him in order to get his way. it’s not a good thing and there’s a reason why aaron would be pissed about it. they’re married, yes, but robert once again took the decision to act on something affecting aaron without talking to aaron first

THERE IT IS, A DREAM CEL OF MINE. Probably my most realistic one, as I don’t know how many people have just, a massive love of Haruka’s wild-ass hatred of Seiya.

Anyway, the way Seiya is immediately like, “Ah, okay. Nice to meet you!” and Haruka is not done with it, will never be done with it, she will feel the pit of this all-consuming rage until her last breath and that is only allowing for the fact that there isn’t an afterlife, because, if there is one, Haruka’s just going to continue to be a very angry ghost.

her INTENSE glare at Seiya when they “shake hands” and it’s really tough to see this in caps, but Seiya kind of recoils, not necessarily in fear, but as if not quite expecting this level of absolute FURY. And I know some of the idea ios supposed to be them “sensing the senshi power’ in each other or whatever but bear in mind: That is so much less interesting and funny.

I mean, look at that middle cap. They aren’t shaking hands so much as Seiya is holding Haruka’s balled up fist because Haruka momentarily forgot that she was suppsoed to be shaking hands and not beating the shit out of a rival like she was some kind of very affronted sage grouse or perhaps a ruby-throated hummingbird.

Even Seiya’s like, “Wow, nice to meet you too, asshole*” and Haruka has no comeback for that other than “Go away!! >:(”

ASK 2. I will talk about ships now. Personally, I can’t say I am on board with any of them (canon or not canon, but where there were hinted romantic feelings). Like yes, I enjoy some cute moments but I can’t say any of the ships got me invested. That doesn’t mean they are not written in a good way (seeing so many ppl liking them), they just are not for me and that’s it (you’ll see why).

I am number 1 fan of the trope enemies to lovers (and in this fandom only two ships have that trope: GinaxNini and EJxRicky). Like give me anything and an enemies to lovers plotline and I’ll choose the latter, always. So yeah, the fun theory is if the writers say sth like: screw this, we are switching 180 degrees and make these two ships canon (or at least one of them since Olivia won’t be sm on the show; for Gina they could bring Jack back in s4-5, like imagine the Andy Mack fandom; they would be thrilled; the video with most likes in the Gina tag on tiktok is the one with Jack, so yeah). I will say this for the ppl who say that pw or rina have that trope. Nope. They don’t. EJ was at most annoyed with Gina, and about Ricky and Gina, there was literally one scene where Ricky was already pissed bc of EJ and he took that anger on Gina (I find it funny that Gina took that anger from Ricky on EJ when she poured the drink on his head). Ricky was annoyed that EJ found a date so easily. He envied EJ bc that it is exactly what he wanted to do that night, to put himself out there and hated that for EJ it was so easy. When Big Red tells Ricky at the table that he can learn from EJ, he replies with sth like: “Ty for defending my mortal enemy”. Coming back to rina, the conflict is resolved really quickly and it wasn’t that big to call them enemies. The pw conflict was a little longer, but again, none of these conflicts scream enemies to me (for both ships). I’m sorry but it’s not enough. Like compare the RickyxEJ dynamic to either one of this and tell me it’s the same level. They hated each other bc of Nini, EJ hated him bc of the play and they pissed each other off bc they were envious of the other one. They saw in the other person qualities they don’t have.

I would be invested in either one of these crackships bc of the trope, the unexpected plot twist and the fact that I think these characters complement each other and can work well together (funny GinaxNini thought: Gina was able to give Ricky helpful advices when they were about Nini, and not when they were about his personal pbs (the one in ep 1x7); so yeah, usually when someone (person A) gives relationship advice to person B about person C and they work, it proves that person A and person C can work together; it’s simple math, transitivity).

Now coming back to reality, I really wish they’d develop EJ and Ricky’s friendship (but I am afraid they will get maximum a nice convo and kinda that’s it (if they get one)). I am speaking from what I saw the writers did with their s2 interactions. But, maybe, the writers will surprise me, who knows. Speaking of Nini and Gina, there is less hope. Maybe they will talk to each other bc of Jamie. Idk. Anything is possible.

I am curious to see your opinion about these crackships. I wanted to do analyses for both ships and talk about a hypothetical future that can work with the current story (that’s why I said in the first ask that I will go from that premise; I wanted to make one for Nini too (even though for her is less realistic)). Idk if I am still going to do that in the near future, maybe I’ll return at some point.

So yeah, from what you see, regarding ships my hopes are pure delusion and I admit that. Honestly, all I want for this show is to get in a direction where all the characters find their happiness and their potential isn’t wasted (and since you noticed I’m an EJ stan, I hope that they will keep him in the show in a manner that doesn’t waste his potential).

the only ship that i'm like- really and truly properly invested in for this show was rini and that's fine- i bought the narrative being sold to me for that one haha, and i don't always. i'm a huge sucker for childhood best friends to lovers and while they could've done a better job with displaying that narrative- that detail about them sold me even more on a ship i was already getting into.

but yeah different people just like different tropes and different ships and that's okay! my ship is dead, and i'm well aware of that given the fact they're almost certainly writing nini out. so like- it's probably time for my brain to pivot but i'm not ready so here we are. i'm down to wait and see whatever the show decides to do, but we shall see how it goes and if anything can give me the same feeling as rini does...

enemies to lovers is complicated- but i think on a show like this it's always more rivals rather than enemies in any circumstance. an enemy is like- i want a fight to the death. but that's just me being nitpicky haha.

that said, taking the term more loosely, what do we need for people to be rivals? the mutualness of having a rivalry is where nini and gina fail that definition, because in season 1, which is when they don't get along, it was definitely more of just gina acting maliciously towards nini than an actual rivarly because it's not mutual. nini takes gina's shoes- which was an act of vengeance in the loosest sense of that word, but i really don't think nini's singular act of rebellion is enough to class them as rivals. also nini immediately apologizes for thinking gina stole her phone and returns the stuff kourtney stole (and in fairness to nini, gina did in fact steal her phone, so... y'know). someone who could've been actually a rival to gina is lily, because she's actually the kind of person to fight for her ambitions, but they didn't go there.

ej and ricky definitely come closer to being like- rivals bc they both act in opposition, and i mean the basketball scene is the best example of that. ej both does and doesn't see ricky as a threat, and vice versa, so it's complicated. ricky wasn't trying to be the lead in the play, he just meant to be in the play to spend time with nini. ej's desire to get ricky out of the play was a one sided issue. the only thing they actually come toe to toe on is nini. so it's hard to say, but this one is for sure closer to a rivals plot.

but for your actual stuff you're saying... you're right. neither ej or ricky were ever enemies (or rivals) to gina. ej and gina were like- the enemy of my enemy is my friend in season 1. (and lbr- their wonderstudies plot could've never worked out for both of them because if one of them succeeds in getting their rival out of the play, the other won't be because the point is to get ricky and nini uncomfortable with each other's presence. if one quits the other definitely won't.) it didn't even make sense for them to team up... but yeah for sure not enemies / rivals, they didn't have the same objective pitting them against each other, bc they weren't going for the same role, or trying to get the same thing in general really. reluctant allies, maybe frenemies, not enemies or rivals. ricky and gina on the other hand had a single conflict... which was way more about ej (and his home life, lbr) than about gina herself. that said- their whole dynamic started because gina was trying to manipulate him so that she could get nini to quit the show, so it's more complicated than just the one moment at homecoming. that said- ricky didn't ever find out about that, just like nini never found out about gina stealing her phone, so y'know. (i do find it interesting gina never faces consequences for her actions like ej does, but i was pleased to see his character facing consequences anyway bc disney typically brushes over this stuff).

i'm not usually necessarily one for an unexpected plot twist, because i'd rather see something that follows the existing narrative, even if it seems boring or cliche or whatever, but i get why people like them at the same time bc it spices things up.

i don't think gina's advice even about nini always works for ricky, particularly when taking 2.04 as an example, but that aside, i do think that's a trope explored a good bit in fiction, and a fun one when done well. like- usually works lightly inspired by the play cyrano de bergerac especially. the half of it on netflix comes to mind, but there are LOTS out there. if you like that trope definitely look into media inspired by cyrano.

i do think it could be really nice to see ej and ricky actually become friends, particularly with how close matt and josh are irl, but if they really do play into the love triangle this season (which imo isn't as much of a given as people expect), i don't know how close they're going to let them be. i'd be happy to just see one nice conversation between them at this point bc it doesn't seem like the show is willing to do much else. look at gina and nini- they don't even feel like they're really friends then BOOM. one good emotional conversation to close out the season.

i think if they were able to bring back jordan fisher, maybe they'll have some scene where nini's with jamie and she thanks gina over facetime or something for connecting them, or maybe even without jordan fisher? but who knows. i was thinking maybe the show would have gina get some moment of like- maybe in the background she and jamie are rebuilding their relationship even though we don't see him. but idk if i still expect that or not with the shorter timeline and less episodes? we shall see. idk if gina and nini will interact this season. they might and they might not. i think if she interacts with a main cast member it will likely be ricky or kourtney, or both. and it's probably going to be on facetime imo at this point.

at the end of the day, i agree with you when you say these ships aren't likely to happen, given there's been no attempt at a set up for either in our existing, but i don't think that should stop you from shipping them even if it's not realistic. aus are a thing for a reason haha. (i know i love writing aus even for canon ships.)

but also! i 1000% agree when you say you just want the characters to be happy and live up to their potential. it's all anyone could want for a character they care about! i do think there aren't a lot of ways to keep ej around to a large extent without somewhat doing a disservice to his character, but i truly do hope they do well by him moving forward, in whatever way that may be :) i just want the show to do well by these kids. it's what they deserve.

So a fan asked David Ramsey about the crossover and the potential wedding. He confirmed that the crossover is a wedding, and it kind of sounded to me like he also confirmed it will be Barry and Iris’ wedding (not O/F). He didn’t explicitly say, but the fan if she would be happy (because she wanted it to be O/F), to which he replied “well you’ll be happy with either right?”.

Yeah, I’m certainly glad we have showrunners who seem to love Westallen and didn’t want to wait any longer than 2 seasons to put them together. The last show I was invested in had a main couple that did the ‘will-they/won’t they’ for almost 9 years, with the showrunners always teasing/baiting/making promises, only to do a complete 180 the next ep. The actress half of the ship ended up leaving before it got resolved, so we ended up with a messy ending (and then they killed her off screen).

Oh no, that sounds horrible! I’m sorry you had to deal with that, damn. And while our showrunners may not love Iris in the same way we do, we are still blessed that they love WA and write towards that.

So this rumor that the 406 is the flash 75th episode and that the producers are extending the season to 25 episodes keeps being spread around. But I haven’t seen a credible source confirm it. I know you’re connected to a lot of TV news sources and was wondering if you could confirm or deny this?

Danielle confirmed that 4.06 is the 75th episode, but I haven’t heard anything about stretching it out.

Amazing point about people loving a character versus wide acceptance. There is a clear differentiation, and those examples of Cisco and Joe are perfect. I’m curious to see how audiences respond to Cisco/Cynthia this season. I also think that fans of the show need to keep in mind that the hate for certain characters is likely associated primarily with fans on SM. The average viewer probably likes all of the characters, and doesn’t have such a black/white view of them.

I agree that the average viewer has less extreme views than those of us in fandom, and I hope people love Cisco/Cynthia! It already seems clear that the writers do. We’ll make noise for them, haha.

I think you’ve mentioned before that the flash has used some of Wally’s stories from the comics as Barry’s stories. Do you think that’s because the show doesn’t intend to make Wally the Flash at some point in the series?

I think the show will end with Barry “retiring” and handing off the mantle to Wally, but they will not explore his stories.
