I played the archon quest...

It was played out so well AND I TEARED UP SO MANY TIMES IN THE START ITSELF WHAT DO YOU MEAN CASUALTIES ON POSSOIN WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT MELUSE AND SILVER—

I was rather delusional, "they would let anything happen to the people of Fontaine, even Furina should be alright", they all weren't alright and even furina suffered so much

I gasped so many times ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT CUTSCENE WHERE THE MAGIC BOX OPENS AND WERE ON THE STAGE OF THE OPERA OMG AND THE WHOLE TRIAL

When the traveller spoke and revealed that they were all here to prove that furina was in fact not the hydro archon I was so shocked (not that I didn't expect that furina wasn't the archon but because I didn't expect them to so openly charge her in court like they did)

And the whole narwhal breaks into the opera house and the following cutscene, Childe literally fell back into that... portal??? and like no one was worried about him lmao (childe got sent to prison and then he broke out, tried to contain the narwhal and protected the people of Fontaine from becoming fodder... if I must say the grudges I held against him for stirring up trouble in Liyue has vanished....)

And the the Focalors and Neuvillette convo and the cutscene I WAS SO CLOSE TO SOBBING MY EYES OUT AND FOCALORS SAYING "HYDRO DRAGON HYDRO DRAGON DON'T CRY" sob sob why is hoyo making everyone sad

And the narwhal was so cool ngl the animations and all!! And... I struggle with that phase 2 thing because I don't have fontaine characters aside from lynette and freminet and was like wdym use pneuma and ousia and I was just standing there letting the humanoid boss doing his thing while well not actually doing anything because Zhongli's shield but then yeah I actually managed to read the info text thing instead of blanking out lmao

AND THEN SKIRK WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT NARWHAL IS A PET???????????? THIS FOWL GUY IS INSANE FOR HIS CHOICE OF PETS LIKE EXCUSE ME?? IT NEARLY WRECKED A NATION????

And furina crying on her throne was actually so sad but even sadder once you actually understand all that she has been through... I really want to play her story quest immediately

if anything good came out of 2020, it’s my discovery of manhwas. 

well, it’s not like i’ve never read a single manhwa in the past 15+ years but tbh, the ratio of manhwa:manga i consume on a weekly basis has jumped exponentially this year. previously it was like 1:99 and now it’s like 90:10 LMAO. 

so, just to remind myself that the world is still full of good things, i had to make this list. which i will probably edit in the future, if i can be bothered to. :) 

anyhow, this list was not made in any particular order, just whichever came into mind. it’s loooong so be prepared! (I’ve read way more titles than mentioned but just included the ones worth checking out)

Bahahah omg he looks evil there! But our dearest archduke is hardly that aww. Soz, I just ripped off the covers of the manhwa cos I can’t find a panel I liked more than another. I mean, this manhwa is a GEM. I can’t even begin to describe this because everything about it blew me away. This is not something you read when you are craving for fluff, or just wanna have something brainless after a hard day at work or if you just wanna have some eye candy lol. This is something you pick up on a weekend, when you have time, because you need those hours to digest, appreciate, clutch your chest, tear a little because you find yourself falling in love with these characters. It doesn’t have any of that cliche isekai, romance, revenge themes going on. It has a solid plot, backed by incredible characters, beautifully woven by the authors and artist with incredible pacing that keeps you on your toes and keeps you looking forward to the next chapter. Maybe I would have been happier if I found it after it was completed lol. HAVE I CONVINCED YOU ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU WANNA READ IT?! like, idk, just go. JUST GO READ IT GDI. 

p.s. it says there romance but naaaaaaah, dont go in with that expectation. :) this story is so much more than that.

This...this!!! THIS MANHWA NEEDS MORE LOVE. If you need a lot of fluff, a little, ok maybe quite a bit of sadness and tragedy, sweet sweet romance, cutie pies, please, look no further!!! Again, pacing, character development are so important to me and this manhwa aces it. I love the 2 MCs very much. And the side characters too. :)

3.  A Stepmother's Märchen

When I first read this, i fucking cried. like please don’t ask me why. it’s not like its an absolute tragedy but I was just rooting for the MC so much and I really want for everything to go her way. That’s how much I adore this MC!!! I LOVE HER. I LOVE HER MORE THAN YOU DO NORA! HAHAHHA. okay soz. I need to keep this spoiler-free.

Anyhoo, there is nothing typical about this time travel plot. Sure, she goes back to try to undo the stuff that went wrong but phew, she certainly changed things so much everything that comes her way have made it so her previous experiences can hardly help aaaaaaand that’s what makes it fun! I sometimes wish the pacing could be a little more consistent, and there could be more characters I could love a little more wholeheartedly (so i wont have to be in so much despair when i read this sometimes lol) but omg the art, isn’t it pretty?! I’ve re-read this soooooo many times but the art blows me away all the time. And have I already mentioned how much I love her?! I LOVE YOU SHULI! AND I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY!

LOL. as for plot... uhm... it’s alright. it’s pretty engaging and i quite like the MC, she’s smart and independent and i love how she views them all antagonistically at all times HAHAHHA. her past is kinda... weird though and i do wish they’d stop referencing it. cos... girl why do you wanna go back to reality!!! stay here! it’s way more exciting! 

i love the whole isekai/reincarnate/transmigration theme and this is honestly one of the better, not-so-cliche or cheesy ones HA.

BECAUSE OF CLAUDE OF COURSE. ahahaha. okay aside from the amaaaaaaazing art and the beautiful people, the plot is not too bad. a little extreme at times but it’s interesting enough to keep me going. it’s currently on hiatus though and i was highly annoyed by how the first season ended. (YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? NOTHING.)

i hope the plot can move faster in the next season! and that our dearest MC athanasia can you know, finally be a little more useful... like omg just tell lucas already!!! and tbh girl, no matter which guy you choose, i approve. :D 

8.  The Flower That Was Bloomed by a Cloud

anyway, i had to feature this cos the art is unique! and the story is great. :) and i looooooove listening to the ost while i read it. it starts out kinda slow but as the pace picks up, you won’t be able to stop. and you find yourself conflicted at various points. it did win an award for a reason. 

no matter what, i still think dowun is best for her okay. it’s dowun or nothing. he’s devoted to her, we all know that! he just needs to ditch that annoying female guard!!! ok yknw what, maybe nothing is better. :/ *cries*

9.  Solo Leveling

im just not sure i like how this season’s plot is progressing. :/ but i guess it brings us nearer to solving the mystery in the first leg of the manhwa. i just enjoyed the whole part of him leveling up and now that he isn’t really leveling up anymore... idk. am i hoping for more plot shit like bleach (oh wow now u quincy?)... idk man. anywho, no regrets starting on this series and marathon-ing it to death. 

cross fingers the plot picks up and doesnt get too complicated for its own good.

Particularly the "don't love me" part, Voltage did us dirty by not giving us his thoughts then...or maybe that's his response: Whiteout. Blank. Because what MC said is basically a confirmation of his fears--of hurting people he loves with his love, of his love is what pushing people away, like he said how people he loves takes a step back when he reaches for them. So blanking out is actually a telling response to that.

The thing is, for Kasumi, his way of loving someone is to give everything he can for their sake in a bid to make them stay with him. That singlemindedness, that desperation is very typical of someone with a traumatic past like him, and he didn't have a reason to change anything about that until MC came along. Oh, that makes me wish we can read what he thought about MC almost getting into an accident...

Giving up everything for the sake of someone is a heavy thing to receive. My first thought was how suffocating it is, his love, and MC said it too about how painful and suffocating it is for her to see him giving up for her sake. Kasumi had no reason to think of it like that. I'm glad MC was perceptive enough to say what she feels, to recognise that his "love" is what killing both of them. Although it was so painful to read in both hers and his POV, it's a necessary hurt because Kasumi needs to realize that he can't sacrifice himself and expect the people he loves would be fine.

Kasumi needed to learn to love and care for himself as much as he does others. The fact that he was such a mess at taking care of himself but a whiz at taking care of others is a testament to how little he thinks of himself. His reluctance of asking someone to stay was rooted in his mother and Mitsuharu's deaths, since whenever he asked for it they die. He felt they died because he asked. (cries) The scene of him begging Neil in the night breaks my heart, he was terrified of asking, but the thought of Neil dying terrifies him more.

can you believe i spent months trying to be lowkey about my bakugou ships? it took me a while to even admit he was my favourite despite the fact i knew from the start i’d end up a bakugou stan. i never had a ‘oh no this kid’s a mean terrible person’ phase - it was a ‘oh, i can’t Reveal my character tastes like this. not like this.’ phase.

this got…..long. so uh. under the cut it goes:

ANYWAY: i ship bakugou with…..uh…….a lot of characters. kiribaku is the easiest to explain - dumbass jock boyfriends who do shit like baku using kiri as a hammer to make mochi. and kiri being gung-ho about testing his unbreakable mode (which, btw, was motivated by bakugou’s words!!!) by having bakugou fucking. use howlitzer impact on him. you know how i feel about bro ships (hint: i love them). how kiri went from ‘man this bakugou guy is nuts!!! we have to stop him!!!!’ to ‘wow bakugou is so manly and cool and i wanna be by his side’ in the span of (1) one-on-one convo. HE LIKES BAKUGOU SO MUCH. IT’S CUTE. LIKE, I DON’T THINK BAKUGOU GETS HOW HAPPY HE MAKES KIRISHIMA LMAO. how bakugou so readily accepted kiri as an equal - bakugou, who only had two categories for people [extras vs rivals], never thought to seriously think of kiri as anything but an ally and a friend, people always talk how kirishima was the first classmate bakugou even bothered remembering the name of, and with reason, since it says a lot. kiri’s got quite a bit of mlm subtext going on, tbh, and bakugou’s the source of almost all of it. soooooo there’s that too. 

but i’ve also fallen Deep into bakudeku. it’s the shared development, okay. the history and complex emotions and the slowburn to becoming partners. there’s just so much, and they’re so ENTRENCHED in each other. for better or worse, for how much they might dislike the fact they can’t stop thinking about each other, they just can’t help it. they couldn’t understand each other at all but somehow still knew the other inside and out. and deku’s been so smitten since he was like a baby 3 year old and it breaks my heart. it’s honestly one of my favourite shounen rival ships bc it keeps subverting your expectations. and every episode/chapter that deals with their issues and nudges them closer to the ideal - the endgame - is guranteed to be among the best. they’re the backbone of the series, and i love watching them grow together. the fact that they’re currently HEALTHY RIVALS AND TENTATIVE FRIENDS (like deku feels so comfortable gushing over bakugou to his face again and bakugou is so invested in deku’s improvement & is only snappy w/ him out of reflex lmao)….that bakugou is deku’s secret keeper and deku is the one person bakugou allows himself to be vulnerable around……HOO BOY. i just imagined bakugou holding out his hand for deku to take - or accepting deku’s hand at all - and died.

ALSO, TODOBAKU….my darkhorse ship, which hit me in the face one day when i realized how a) hilarious they are together and b) how the series keeps shoving them together (sometimes literally - thanks slidin’ go for giving them the group hug they deserved). i love how they’re so different yet similar - bakugou is loud and obnoxious while todoroki is stern and quiet, but they’re both rude prodigies who needed to be jumpkicked into realizing that they could become better people with the help of others instead of letting anger and bitterness swallow them up. and the provisional exam course made it so they were forced to hang out with each other 95% of the time for three whole months and i LIVE FOR THAT. i love how funny they are - todoroki is snarky & doesn’t even bat an eyelash over bakugou’s tantrums but genuinely tries to be nice and make friends with him! bakugou is so petty and wants todoroki’s attention soooo bad but don’t think i haven’t noticed that most times we’ve seen him genuinely smile has been in todoroki’s presence (ok, then todoroki reacts to it and bakugou instantly goes back to a snarl but STILL). also the fact that the narrative doesn’t want us to forget that bakugou eavesdropped on todoroki telling deku about his family, and bakugou is always Alert and keeping an eye on todo whenever endeavour is involved bc he’s sympathetic and y’know??? cares????? SO GOOD. AND THEY’RE SUCH A GOOD TEAM - SURPRISINGLY IN SYNC AND THEIR QUIRKS MATCH UP AND I LOVE THEM!

GOD, HORI…..BAKUGOU/URARAKA WOULD BE SO GOOD. like, can you *imagine* the sheer potential of a ship that you only really have them interact during one goddamn tournament fight and yet it becomes arguably the most popular het ship in your series (w/ only the main character and his canon love interest as real competition????) i love them though, like,,,,i find it so interesting that uraraka has shown, despite again - minimal onscreen interaction - that she understands bakugou better than most. she knows how he’d handle their fight and uses that to her advantage. (and while she still lost, she gained his respect and a new drive to get stronger!) she’s the one who brings up how HE’D feel about the plan to go rescue him - that his pride would prevent him from easily accepting help. i’m desperately trying to figure out a way they could animate that omake where uraraka plants herself in deku’s seat and demands that bakugou bury the hatchet with him while gently but firmly calling him out for his root issue of fear and his defense mechanism of violently pushing deku away. and it managed to calm him down and honestly, i wouldn’t be surprised if he ruminated on those words for a while. IT’S SO GOOD, WHY WASN’T IT IN THE STORY ITSELF!!! and like, the mere fact he respects her a lot and ended up *psyched* to continue fighting her - and after he’s told deku had nothing to do with her plan, i don’t think he’d make that mistake again, which makes it easier for him to understand her back. he knows she’s smart and talented and that everyone else was wrong to underestimate her. also, i love that uraraka thinks bakugou is like…..funny? he’s out there threatening to murder kaminari and uraraka’s like ‘hahaha :’’)))’ bc she has such a Bro/vulgar sense of humour. like, i think they’d have a lot of fun together. LET THEM TALK MORE, PLS!!!!

THOSE ARE MY MAIN SHIPS BUT I ALSO SHIP HIM WITH THE REST OF THE BAKUSQUAD! BOTH PLATONICALLY AND ROMANTICALLY! I HAVE NO SHAME! baku/kami is so underrated and great - kaminari is just as much bakugou’s bff as kirishima is, tbh, and he has absolutely No Chill which makes their interactions - especially the further the story goes and bakugou’s edges soften - so much fun. one moment, he’ll be casually commenting that bakugou is the worst and needs to change his whole rotten personality - then the next second, he’ll be sprawled all over him, calling him kacchan and defending his honour from actual haters. and bakugou just fucbdhfhd lets this happen. bakugou likes kaminari enough to just let him. do whatever the hell he wants. ALSO, THE BAND. admittedly, sero is the only one with enough common sense and actual standards to avoid dating bakugou (’HE’LL NEVER BE BEAUTIFUL’ ghdhfhd sero) but i still adore them. sero’s so tricksy and loves playing the reverse psychology trick on bakugou, who just constantly falls for it. i bet he was the first person bakugou let just hang out in his room, and he probably appreciates that sero actually gives him his space when he needs it! i can’t believe baku/sero is the Real ‘bakugou pining’ ship. @ hori: GIVE MINA AND BAKUGOU ACTUAL INTERACTIONS, GDI. i’m forced to headcanon their whole dynamic from near-scratch. whereas kiri and kami are more the type to glue themselves to bakugou’s back, i imagine mina’s the type to actively drag bakugou along places. she probably cried when she found out that a) his parents are rich designers (’BUY ME CLOTHES, BAKUGOUUUU’) and b) his glycerin-based quirk and taking after his mom means he usually has perfect skin and has never broken out in his life. she doesn’t speak to him for a week until he takes her out to dinner and buys her a cute dress. and i’m super fond of baku/jirou. i love that their dynamic is like…..while the rest of their friends are doing dumb shit For The VineTM, they’re on the sidelines waiting for shit to hit the fan. they’re punk buds and prob do that couples clothes switch thing a lot just to see if anyone notices. jirou bosses him around and he takes all her advice seriously and like, they trust each other! they have great team synergy! she was the first person bakugou both consciously protected and asked to protect him in turn!! DID I MENTION THE BAND?? i also ship him with camie! it’s just such a funny concept to imagine - like imagine you’re in class 1A and bakugou shows up out of nowhere with a hot girlfriend who talks. like that. and she makes him laugh??? and no, seriously, does he actually understand what the hell she’s saying???? WHAT’S HAPPENING. but yeah, she very casually teases him but also seemed comfortable w/ him right off the bat and i know in my heart that bakugou relented and let her have his phone number. also, i find it funny people started shipping him with shindou after bakugou was the one to call him out for being duplicitous. bakugou’s the type of character that just needs to interact with another character once and *someone* out there will be like ‘what if………..they were dating’ and that’s so valid of them.

good bakugou ot3/ot4s: kirishima/bakugou/uraraka, todoroki/midoriya/bakugou, todoroki/inasa/camie/bakugou. i reblog a looooot of kirishima/kaminari/bakugou and bakugou/uraraka/midoriya even tho i don’t actually ship either as an ot3 that much, oops? they’re good ships tho.

Kingdom of Ash

So it's been a few hours since I've finished KOA and I'm still nowhere near okay because so much happened in it - so much joy and also so much pain in this book. I loved every second of it.

Before I start on my thoughts on it (all under the cut to not spoil anyone) I just wanted to give a shout out to Sarah J Maas - for creating such beautiful, beautiful flawed, complex, very human characters in this beautiful world. It has been a wonderful ride, following this amazing, strong badass character go through her trials, her struggles and still being so unyielding, still so full of light and hope even in the face of darkness. I love Aelin's character so much. So... what I'm saying is... Thank you so much, Sarah.

Now, onward. Also... this will be lengthy.

I think the best way to do this is by characters and my favorite (heartbreaking) moments from each of them or around them in their chapters.

But first... Aelin, Dorian and Manon just... they shone through this entire book. All of them had their personal doubts about their task - CAN Dorian get all the Wyrdkeys, CAN Manon unite the Irontheeth and the Crochans, CAN Aelin live with herself if Dorian somehow forged the lock and CAN she let him do it, CAN she rule Terrasen if she were to find a way to live after forging the lock?

I had so much fun reading each of their POVs because these were the 3 rulers of the new world, that better world they all fought for, and yet how much they doubted how can they make it happen, will it happen, if it did happen how can or should they rule? There was a lot of internal struggle with them all. There were a lot of personal revelations for them along the way and it was really, a beautiful journey.

Okay, now for them all separately. The sections for Aelin, Dorian and Manon are gonna be long.

Aelin: - Her not being tricked by Maeve's mind games, holding on through Cairn's tortures all for Terrasen - that was her one thought that kept her from breaking: how can I protect Terrasen? - Her escaping Cairn and her running into Lorcan and Gavriel, and her screaming TAKE IT OFF TAKE IT OFF and then Rowan, bless him, trying to calm her down enough to try to get it off. That part just... that gutted me. - All the blood oaths... including Gavriel's. That was such a somber, beautiful moment. The one with Fenrys was just... amazing. She refused to let him stay there in that camp alone AND SHE BROUGHT HIM BACK TO LIFE.  - Her using her power - all that power she had kept pushing down to save for her showdown with Maeve - to save the soldiers (and Lorcan and Elide) at Anielle. That was some next level AMAZING, badass shit man. I will definitely be drawing this scene.  - Her falling through the worlds after forging the lock - after opting to save Elena over them taking Erawan with them... only to be betrayed by those stupid, ugly selfish gods... and then having Aelin get payback by unleashing literal hell on them in their realm.  -Her falling through the realms was so... cool. So cool. - AND WE ALSO GOT A CAMEO FROM THE WONDERFUL RHYS AND FEYRE. SHE FELL THROUGH EFFING VELARIS. I FREAKED. I'M STILL FREAKING. THAT WAS AN AMAZING WAY TO BRIDGE THE TWO SERIES.  - AELIN/CHAOL/DORIAN REUNION. 

- The comraderie between her and all the females in this series. Her and Hasar's fond bickering, same with her and Borte and Ansel. The faith and pride she had in Yrene and Elide. Her friendship with Lysandra will always be one of my favorite things about this series. The weight of the world that only she and Manon can understand up in the aerie after the battle and her support in Manon's loss. There were so many beautiful friendships between all the females in this book. THIS GIRL MAKES FRIENDS WHEREVER SHE GOES AND IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING. - The final showdown - her playing with Erawan, trying to pit him against Maeve. And then after Erawan was carried away, her pulling her cadre out of their hallucinations, opening up that portal to allow the old Fae of Terrasen through, having Fenrys deliver his well-deserved killing blow to her. - Her coronation - the Little Folk coming to give her Mab's crown - LET'S JUST TALK ABOUT THEIR NEVERENDING SUPPORT OF AELIN THROUGH ALL THE BOOKS. AND LET'S GO BACK TO THE KING OF THE NORTH - THAT BEAUTIFUL STAG WHO LIT THE WAY FOR AELIN AND THE KHAGANATE TO GET TO ORYNTH. - Okay, Aelin's coronation - the procession, how she had all the females go down into the city with her because they all played just as huge of a part in the war. They honestly did so much.  - AELIN/CHAOL/DORIAN GOODBYE EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT A FOREVER GOODBYE. LOOK, I SOBBED THROUGHOUT THAT WHOLE PART. MY BABIES. MY BEAUTIFUL BABIES WHO STARTED IT ALL, BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH AND LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH. I CANNOT.   - The ending - her waking up to the field of those flowers that were thought to be wiped from existence during the first siege all those years ago. Another scene I must draw. 

Dorian: - Dorian learning how to shapeshift was just... I wasn't expecting that at all. And he learned it so well from the Stygian spider - and the way he LEARNED how to do it - by digging into the spider's mind and finding that kernel of power and taking it for himself. - This poor kid is still so traumatized by what happened to Sorscha. And I know there's a lot of mixed feelings about Sorscha but honestly I liked her. His guilt over her, and also how he left Rifthold in ruins to flee. His doubts on ruling, can he rule, how will he be different from his Valg "father" and also the ultimate question he had to come to terms with: Was he himself part Valg, since his father's body was possessed by a Valg. - His friendship with the Thirteen. I just. And then at the end... that's who he looked up to the skies to find, not knowing he'd never find them in those skies... or any skies ever again (crying). - MORATH AND MAEVE. Those were some of the most stressful chapters of this book and I was worried for a bit, especially when Maeve found him. - THE WAY HE TRICKED MAEVE AND BROUGHT DOWN MORATH FROM THE INSIDE. THAT WAS BADASS, DORIAN. I’M SO PROUD OF YOU. I will also be drawing this.  - CHAORIAN REUNION. HIS REACTION WHEN HE SAW THAT CHAOL WAS STANDING. STANDING. AND THEN RUNNING TO HIM. THOSE STUPID, STUPID BEAUTIFUL BOYS AND THEIR STUPID BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP. - Him desperately trying to reconnect himself with Aelin after Aelin pushed him back out the portal as she finished forging the lock by herself. The sheer panic Dorian had because he could not, would not let his friend do this alone. That was heartbreaking. - Dorian is so clever - I always forget how clever. His ruse at the end with Erawan - and as Yrene had him pinned down, him nonchalantly going, "Oh btw, I was the one who destroyed Morath." - I know a lot of people were kind of complaining about the lack of Manorian in the book but WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. THIS BOOK WAS FULL OF MANORIAN. Their quiet support of each other. Them knowing each other so well - Dorian figured out Manon was the one who led the Ironteeth back to the Crochans to prove herself just like that. Him thinking of who he most wanted to be like when learning how to shapeshift himself, and he thought of Manon. - The ending where he wants wyverns as part of his aerial legion, and he wants Manon to come and teach those future riders how to fight, how to be.  - “What do you want.” You, all of you. GDI.  -THAT BIT WITH YRENE. "You could just get married." AND THEN DORIAN BLUSHES FURIOUSLY. BOY. YOU WANT TO BE WITH MANON. JUST GET MARRIED ALREADY.

Manon: - OKAY I'M JUST GONNA START IT OFF WITH THE THIRTEEN AND JUST HOW MUCH THEY LOVED MANON AND RESPECTED HER. SO MUCH THEY ALL SACRIFICED THEMSELVES FOR HER, THEY DID THEIR UNYIELDING SO SHE CAN HELP CREATE THAT BETTER WORLD THEY ALL WISHED FOR, EVEN IF THEY COULDN'T BE A PART OF IT, AS LONG AS MANON LIVED THAT'S ALL THEY CARED ABOUT. LOOK, I THINK I CRIED FOR THOSE ENTIRE 2 CHAPTERS AND THEN THROUGH HALF A THIRD CHAPTER. I'M STILL GETTING TEARY EYED THINKING ABOUT THEM. HOW DARE YOU SARAH. HOW DARE YOU. - That field of flowers, how everyone at Orynth paid their tributes to the Thirteen and Manon in the center of it, quietly mourning those beautiful, brave loyal twelve women who have done nothing but support her for all those years. I just can’t get over it. This will be the first scene that I draw.  - How Aelin promised that she would put up a statue, something to pay a permanent tribute to them.  - THE PART WITH ABRAXOS ALMOST DYING AND ALL ABRAXOS WANTED TO DO WAS SAVE MANON. JFC. AND MANON LITERALLY BEGGING ISKRA, HER ENEMY. TO LET ABRAXOS GO. - Manon's doubts over winning over the Crochans. It was a long, long process for her to do so but she kept at it, trying to earn their respect as much as she could. - The showdown between her and her grandmother and the Yellowlegs heir. Hells. yes. - The way the crown lit up as soon as it sat on Manon's head. You go girl. - I loved Glennis. - The passing of the eternal flame through all of those hearths in even the remotest parts of the country when the word went out their Crochan Queen needed them to fight for Terrasen. That was a powerful, powerful scene. - When she went to the Ferian Gap to speak to Petrah, to lay out the truth of what the Ironteeth at Morath planned to do - what her GRANDMOTHER planned to do - which made those Ferian Ironteeth rebel and join them against Morath. In other words... MANON WAS BORN TO LEAD.   - The end, when she sees Dorian and he realizes the Thirteen are not there. "I miss them." (CRYING) - I also love how she struggled to care, to feel that being a caring leader did not make her a weak one because that's what she was taught. A good leader does not care, they are ruthless and do what must be done - but Manon has always had a softer heart, even if she didn't want to admit it, and her caring... it made her a stronger leader. - Her realization that the curse had been broken - they all - Ironteeth and Crochans - can return to the Wastes. Because the curse finally, finally broke. Starting with the Thirteen's sacrifice. Even in death, they helped her get home. - Her promising to stop by Rifthold to pay our wonderful King of Adarlan a visit time to time.

Rowan + the cadre (minus Lorcan): - Rowan, you beautiful beautiful bird you. He was so relentless to get to Aelin and after finding her... his patience with Aelin afterwards, helping her train, helping her heal. - I'M SO ECSTATIC WE GOT ONE MORE CARRANAM SCENE WITH ROWAELIN IN THAT FINAL BATTLE. - Rowan exacting exquisite revenge on Cairn after finding out Cairn whipped Aelin. I think Cairn deserved an even more gruesome death than he recieved... and that death already was gruesome. - Rowan finding the strength to tear himself out of the hellish hallucination that Maeve played with him... with a little help from his Fireheart. - Rowan's reactions as Fenrys told Rowan little by little just what was done to Aelin in those months apart. - Listen, Rowan's farewell to Dorian and Chaol was just as emotional for me. - HOW MUCH HE JUST LOVES AELIN. THAT EVEN THOUGH HE'S HELLA ANGRY AT HER (Hello, forging the lock scene) HE LOVES HER SO MUCH AND THAT HE'LL TAKE HER ANY WAY, whether Aelin possessed exponential amounts of magic or not - he just loves her as she is. - How he noticed right away that she wasn't as warm as he remembered after she gave most of her magic to forge the lock. AND ALSO AFTER SHE JUST GOT BACK FROM DORANELLE. He could see she was faking most of that famous Aelin bravado and swagger. - Fenrys - god my heart broke for him so many times. He had to watch his brother literally kill himself because of the stupid blood oath to Maeve, HE couldn't do anything to stop it or help Aelin as Cairn tortured her over and over and over again... but it was the thought of Aelin being almost burned alive, that he knew she was being taught to fear the power that she loved so much that Fenrys fought and WON against the blood oath with Maeve.  - How he couldn't winnow because it reminded him of Connall and it hurt too much and Aelin understood why he couldn’t.  - Fenrys being that lifeline to Aelin during those months too, and it never stopped being their personal form of communication even after they were rescued from Maeve. I loved the relationship between Aelin and Fenrys. - Gavriel - everything he did was to get back to his son, and by god, he did get back to Aedion just in time... TO SACRIFICE HIMSELF. JFC KIDS. STOP SACRIFICING YOURSELVES. - Also, Gavriel, was that really necessary? Was it? - Gavriel being the gentle voice of reason, of being super sweet with Elide, using his magic to brace her leg. Also for being the buffer between Lorcan and Elide, which could not have been more awkward of a situation to be in. But he did it without complaint. - THE CADRE'S TRIBUTE TO GAVRIEL IN THAT ROOM AS THEY SUNG THE SONGS OF OLD TO HONOR THEIR FRIEND WHO HAD FALLEN FOR NO GREATER CAUSE THAN TO AEDION (and Terrasen).

Elide/Lorcan: - Lorcan. Lorcan, Lorcan. You big lovestruck idiot. The entire book he tried so hard to get Elide to forgive him. - I was LEGIT scared he was gonna die in Anielle. BUT ELIDE CAME AND SAVED HIS ASS. And she would not let him go, even as he told her to abandon him so she might make it back in time. This whole scene had me on the edge.  - LET’S ALSO TALK ABOUT HOW ELIDE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REALIZED LORCAN WAS NOT UP ON THE WALL WITH THEM.  And she did not care, she literally took Chaol’s horse and went hunting for her tall brooding brute.  - LISTEN, THIS BIG BROODING BRUTE PUNK GAVE UP HIS IMMORTALITY TO BE WITH HER. LIKE. LORCAN.  - ALSO. LORD LORCAN LOCHAN.  - ELIDE IS A BADASS OKAY. From pretending to be Cairn's jilted lover to get intel to find Aelin - which was HER idea, btw to her facing down her uncle - her abuser for so many years and telling him she will never think of him again as she walks out leaving him there with her head held high, even though all she wanted to do was run.  - She is so smart. So so clever - SHE came up with the plan to take down Erawan. And holy shit, it worked.  - Her friendship with Yrene was so sweet. I love how those two bonded. - Elide walking down during Aelin’s coronation, but not wanting Lorcan to brace her foot. She wanted to take that walk down the aisle with pride. I’m so proud of you girl. 

Chaol/Yrene: - YRENE IS MY FAVE. Like what an angel. SHE is also one of the biggest badasses in this series. TAKING DOWN ERAWAN THROUGH SHEER WILL AND TALENT ALONE. - All the healing she did - always endlessly healing and she did this while being PREGNANT. - Her always healing while Chaol was fighting kept me on edge because if one of them falls, both do. And this is the sole notion that kept Chaol fighting so hard. - Chaol and his father - what a complicated relationship. But Chaol kept his shit about him around his father. And as furious as Chaol was that his father kept all those letters from his mother from him... "Keep them, those will be the only things to keep you company" is more or less what he said before wheeling himself out of the room... and Anielle. - Chaol's first thoughts as he went down during the final battle was Yrene. And the joy he felt when he saw she was there after waking up from his unconsciousness, alive with him after taking down Erawan. The pure pride he has for her. UGH YOU TWO STOP IT. - Yrene's beyond brilliant idea to build a Torre Cesme on the main continent, so that she may still teach others how to heal. And she’s going to be asking some of the Old Fae from whom a lot of the healers are descended from.  - Yrene has such a gentle soul - I love how she's thought of ways to help Elide's foot for days after she met Elide because she just wants to help her and fix her foot. - I was sad we didn't get as much Chaorene as I would have liked but there was so much going on.

Aedion/Lysandra/Evangeline: - First off... Aedion made me so angry this book. Like... how dare you blow up at Lysandra like that - humiliate her and SPEAK TO HER LIKE THAT. Do you think it was easy for her to go along with that plan? Knowing that her best friend was somewhere being tortured, not knowing if she'd ever even SEE her best friend ever again alive? His treatement of her during the first half just pissed me off. - And he didn't realize how much he hadn't meant it until Lysandra had shifted into Aelin's likeness as she tried to take down the ilken... THAT ALMOST KILLED HER. And she did that to rally HIS army to keep fighting. - LIKE YOU NEEDED HER TO HAVE A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE TO REALIZE HOW SHITTY YOU'VE BEEN TREATING HER? GET OUTTA HERE. - So yes, I felt like him having his title stripped from him was justified. For that treatment of Lysandra alone. And I love how Lysandra told him straight up just that too. "I've had men degrade me but never as you have and it is unforgivable." - But I also like how the newly appointed general was like "Yeah thanks, so Aedion what are we gonna do?" - LYSANDRA YOU DESERVE ALL THE MEDALS IN THE UNIVERSE. THIS GIRL IS A FIGHTER, SHE IS A BADASS, CONSTANTLY SHIFTING INTO WHATEVER SHE CAN TO TAKE DOWN AS MANY MORATH SOLDIERS AS POSSIBLE. I FEEL LIKE SHE DID THE BULK OF IT IN ALL HER FORMS. - As angry as I was at Aedion... I was also super happy when they did sort of get back together. And I like how it was subtle. - ...Except for that hallway scene. If you know what I mean ;) - EVANGELINE! What a sweetiepie. This girl wore down one of the toughest Lords of Terrasen. I love how soft Darrow was with her. It was very, very sweet. And bless her heart, I love how she wanted to keep busy being Darrow's messenger, and I love how Darrow kind of sensed that she needed a purpose. Something to ground her while her friends fought. - Aedion, as much as you made me angry the first half of the book, I gotta hand it to him for holding off Morath for like 90% of the book before Aelin + co. got there. You go Aedion, you go.  - THE BLOOD OATH. HE FINALLY GOT HIS BLOOD OATH WITH AELIN. AND SHE DID IT BEFORE SHE WAS CROWNED. I cannot. 

Nestaq + the Khaganate: - DISAPPOINTED WE DIDN'T GET MORE NESTAQ. I WANTED MORE SARTAQ WORSHIPPING THE VERY GROUND NESRYN WALKED ON AS HE DID IN TOWER OF DAWN. - I feel they were just there for the updates in the war, what was happening sky-side... I just needed more from them. I know there was a lot going on but... a little bit of Nestaq cuteness would have been great in that big clusterfuck of a situation. - I will say, the cute thing at the end where Sartaq teases Nes about being Empress and she makes that face. Cute, Nesryn, cute. - I DID WANNA SEE MORE OF BORTE AND YERAN BECAUSE THOSE TWO CRACK ME UP. - I fell in love with Borte in TOD and I was even more in love with her in KOA. She is so fun, so snarky... I love how she got the opportunity to lead the cadre at the front lines during that final battle. - "You are all Fae?" Oh Borte.

Okay so I'm gonna end it here. I still have so many thoughts and feelings on this series. Still sad that it's over because I love these characters so much.

Keith. KEEEEEEEEITH. On the one hand I’m glad that he’s getting a chance to work with the BOM and possibly learn more about his heritage (still wish we could’ve seen that), but seeing him pull away from the team is heartbreaking.

GOOD LORD SHIRO WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. Honestly, the way he treats Keith in this episode--dismissing his information about Lotor with a blunt “we’ll talk later”--is one of the best arguments for a clone!Shiro, I swear.

On a second watch, it still frustrates me the way the team treats him going on missions with the BOM. I can see why he chooses that over the “razzle dazzle” that Voltron’s doing, and it feels like no one acknowledges that the intelligence gathering is important (or if they do so, it’s only immediately before they remind Keith that Voltron should be his priority).

And really, he gets shit for going on missions but everybody’s totally chill with Pidge taking off to look for her brother for who knows how long in the next episode? Guys. Come on.

Ngl, I was really happy that the “power struggle” between Keith and Shiro that I’d heard bits about turned out to be basically a “BUT YOU’RE A BETTER LEADER” compliment battle. Which is a lot more in-character, frankly.

I really did expect the conflict between whether Keith was going to join the Blade or stay with Voltron to last a lot longer than episode 1, but frankly, I’m glad that it didn’t.

I do think Keith believes in the work the Blade is doing and he wants to go, but the way his face falls just a little bit before he leaves the castle makes me think he wanted them to...I don’t know, maybe fight a bit harder to keep him? It’s hard to say. There’s a lot I loved, but the ending of this episode did feel a bit rushed.

Episode 2, “Reunion,” is probably my favorite episode of the past 2 seasons. Good lord. Pidge. PIDGE.

Honestly I expected to dislike Matt (thanks, fandom) but no. No, he was WONDERFUL and so sweet and genuinely proud of his baby sister and their relationship was ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL.

Pidge has gotten so badass I’m just. Yes. YOU GO.

WATCHING HER AND MATT FIGHT TOGETHER IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING I DIDN’T KNOW I NEEDED.

I loved literally everything about this episode. I loved how supportive and teasing Matt was in flashbacks, and how impressed he was by Pidge (but not surprised at how awesome she was). I loved seeing Pidge take off on her own and seeing just HOW MUCH she’s grown since the first season, like holy crap. Just. Everything. Everything was great.

Also I gotta say, I did not expect the episode centered ENTIRELY around Pidge and Matt to be the one that gave me the most Sheith feels, but HERE WE ARE.

Pidge is my favorite character and Sheith is my favorite ship I am just writhing on the floor still.

Episode 3 did what I think Voltron does really well overall, which is balance a really intense plot with some silly and lighthearted subplots. On the one hand, you have the conflict between Zarkon and Lotor kicking off in earnest, and on the other hand you have Coran and Allura learning where milkshakes come from.

I ADORED Pidge giving Matt a tour of the castle.

KALTENECKER! THEY STILL HAVE THE COW!

Matt’s reaction to Allura had me rolling because it was SO over the top. The anime style was hilarious.

Every moment with Allura, Coran, Lance, and Kaltenecker was absolutely golden. GOLDEN.

SO MANY TECH BESTIE MOMENTS. I love it when Pidge and Hunk get together and DO SCIENCE, and having Matt working with them was like 800 kinds of awesome. There were so many tech bestie moments this season, it was delightful. Yes. Give me all the Pidge & Hunk.

Honestly, the fact that they brought back Kaltenecker and Pidge’s video game gave me more faith that they’re going to resolve the other, larger plot threads that they’ve brought up in the past couple of seasons (*coughwhat’swrongwithShirocough*).

I love political intrigue, and I love it more when I do not give a shit about who’s going to get screwed over because they’re both awful. Watching Lotor and Zarkon maneuver around each other (or, well, Lotor and Haggar maneuver, Zarkon is more like a mace to the head) is like CANDY to me. I love seeing the cracks in the seemingly unbeatable Galra Empire, and I loved all the twists in this episode. (Plotting! Betrayal! Murder! Exile! YES GOOD.) 

Episode 4: The Ember Island Players! I mean, The Voltron Show!

File this under “list of episodes I thought would be dumb and ended up being fucking hilarious.”

A CORAN-CENTRIC EPISODE? WHAT?

OMG we got to see him bargain with the Unilu trader again BLESS YOU SHOW.

The poor team trying to read their lines in that first show. They’re so awkward.

I’m not sure if I can remember which bits of this were in which of the two episodes so I’m just going to throw them all together.

OMG I missed this little asshole so much. I am torn, because I love him with the BOM but God I miss him with the Voltron team.

Show, give me a Hunk-centric episode next season PLEASE.

I got $20 that says Lotor has NO IDEA that Haggar is Honerva, and the reason he’s trying to get through the transreality portal has shit-all to do with quintessence and everything to do with finding his mother or continuing her work.

Speaking of Lotor, I did not expect his generals to turn on him like that, holy crap. Especially not Acxa.

Anybody else do a full-body cringe when Lotor DISLOCATED HIS FUCKING SHOULDERS or was that just me?

I have no idea how this show made me go from “fuck no” with Allura/Lance to “okay yeah I see it,” but that’s a thing that has happened. No one is more surprised than me.

Seriously, the way their relationship has grown into mutual respect is one of my favorite things about the past two seasons. I actually like Lance when he’s being supportive and encouraging.

The number of times Keith and Shiro say each other’s names is ridiculous. Obviously I am thrilled about it. *writhes in shipper feels*

Okay, so I know logically they’re not going to kill off their entire main cast at the end of the fourth season (fans would RIOT) BUT HOLY SHIT the end of episode six WAS INTENSE.

They acknowledged that the Castle is at a disadvantage in battles without Allura to create the wormholes. Coran can’t come to the rescue. THANK YOU, SHOW.

Anyway. I’ve seen it twice now and I don’t think I’ve stopped having feels at all. My hopes for season 5* involve “give me a Hunk-centric episode please, preferably one with backstory” and “tell me what the hell is going on with Shiro.”

I had hoped for the latter during this season, but there was enough going on and it’s short enough that I’m like “eh...okay. I can see why you didn’t.”

Also, putting my bet on the table: We’ll get the pre-Kerberos Sheith backstory whenever it’s revealed what’s going on with Shiro, whether it’s used to break his brainwashing or used to prove current!Shiro is a clone. (My friends are probably sick of me saying that at this point.)

Universe commentary (ep 33-41)

Knight’s arc was pretty good. Now we go for the final arc. The fifth and last part of this commentary series will be ready in october, after the finale.

Yesss!! After 8 painful weeks (2 months!) Rei is finally back. And why is it that he always has the best music?

Ohmygosh! Hackmon was going to accept the Gatchimonaka. These two are really something, they’re the only ones that leave a mess behid them in Cyber Kowloon.

Guys, this is important. Astra uses emojis and Haru keyboard emoticons.

Ok, I really want to know more about this old man. I think his backstory with Leviathan could give us some clues. Also, he was so mean to Eri.

Damn, son! What-an-entrance. Knight has a childish side and totally loves being the center of attention. I find him amusing, but Eri is so not impressed.

Cloud is such a drama queen and he fails to see that he’s as human as everyone else. Also, nice reference with that name. And boy! His theme is very effective. It suffocates you and makes you feel despair. 

Of course Eri acquired her hard working personality from her mom. How didn’t I see it sooner? Btw, she looked sooo cute with the ponytail.

And Ai is the only one that cheers when her girlfriend wins the poll lol.

I remember when I saw the designs last year, I thought Calcumon was the app of call, because its arms resembled a handset. So, is funny that Callmon’s arms are flip cellphones.

I cried when Eri got in the Top 10. She has given her all to bring happiness to people. And Izumi just motions her to go up the stairs and reach her dream. The moment was so overwhelming and she deserves it. This girl is amazing.

Thank you, I waited 9 months for a scene like the one in the boat where the kids are doing shenanigangs and Rei is so done.

Now we have not only a Gatchmon ringtone, but a Hackmon one as well.

Why did Coachmon even appear if he didn’t do anything? He could have help them unveil the L Corp mystery.

Omg?! If you take away Knight’s shady motives, it totally looked as if he was flirting with Eri. And pfffftt, the height difference hahaha.

Charismon is very good at twisting minds. Even I started doubting (it’s easy when we barely know L and M). Which point of view is better? Both may have good and bad things. Which one should we be rooting for?

Biomon is insane!! And he was the one in charge of Hajime’s data treatment. I hadn’t thought it, but it makes sense.

Fakemon is so hilarious. Of course this particular fight would be funny, but I didn’t expect to laugh with Beauty vs Ouja. The way they handled the battle was certainly strange.

NO, dammit! Haru is crying. Sure he has had tears in his eyes before, but now they’re falling down his cheeks. All these months I’ve been wondering if he was gonna suffer. But not like this, I can’t stand it. Gatchmon’s ideal future vision broke me too ;_;

When they went back to chip form, I thought they'd deactivate and turn grey, but it was worse. They broke and disintegrated. Can we make the Leomon joke to make it less painful?

This is the darkest of Digimon? I’m here with a poker face thinking about Masaru having to kill his dad or even Leviathan killing Haru’s grandpa ._.

I would have liked to see a bit more of the kids grieving. And wtf? They’re not really dead? That takes away a lot of the drama. Anyway, my two favorites had the funniest personality changes xD

If the secret base wasn’t suspicious enough, now the Shinkai and Kashiki families are connected through the library. How convenient.

We know Ai can be scary. Can she scold Rei for constantly breaking into her library? And ppppfff, of course he comes with tools to open a door, it’s the hacker in him haha. 

I’d like to thank the heavens above for all the moments between Haru and Rei in the snow. He was the first one showing concern everytime Haru did something reckless. And OMG! he called him by his first name (no, no estoy hiperventilando)

If anyone didn’t think that Haru is important to Rei, they just spelled it out for everyone. And I’m so happy that Rei is finally part of the team. They really need someone like him.

Even better, he’s starting to develop a relationship with Astra. Is as hilarious as I imagined. Can we have Raidramon+Mediamon, pleaaaseee?

There has been several moments that got me thinking “this is Digimon”, but Haru’s monologue is the one that made me feel the soul of the series the most. The music was so calm and the whole scene was beautiful.

I love this group. I think is one of the best casts of all seasons. Is incredible that the staff goes great lenghts to flesh them out. Even the OP, ED and Applidrive sequences are so like them.

Is heartwarming that Haru is inspired by his friends. As the leader, he has inspired some of his teammates, but I’d like to see more of that. They’d have never met if it wasn’t for him. I loved that bit in the Lab showing their favorite meals in conjunction as representation of their friendship.

This is how it always should have been: digivice/evo/battle sequences with an insert song. Now, I can feel something. Eri’s and Haru’s are outstanding.

Yesss!! L-Trio is back!! Oh c’mon, how coud you do this to them? Some of them weren’t even dead. At least they can still return. Please bring them back again and treat them better and logically.

I loved the battle coreography of Revive vs Sakusi. And how come that only now I’m noticing he has Dezipmon’s zippers in his legs?

The buddies were “dead”, the group was in the cemetery and we still don’t know how appmon’s lifecyles really work. They had 2 episodes to touch the issue and they wasted the opportunity.

The final ending is so cute, but I didn’t like the song too much. When it was promoted as “cool” I expected something different.

Gdi, Hackmon. Why didn’t you disconnect from Biomon? He could have been Hajime and you would have allowed Rei to hurt him.

I have to admit that Haru’s goodwill during the first part frustated me a little, but then he started to understand Knight’s point of view. And I expected better of Charismon, I thought he would mess with Haru’s mind.

At first I was really angry with Knight, but then I started to sympathize with him. He had his dreams broken not once, but twice and he became what he despised. He saw himself in Haru, but his soul is more fragile. That “bye bye, future” was heartbreaking. I really hope we see him again.

I was so sure Knight was Hajime. Even when there were signs that he was his own character I wanted to hold onto that theory.

Wtf? The Ultimate 4 are gone just like that? I expected they’d last 2 o 3 episodes more. Well...the chips are inactive, so there’s still work to do. Besides they have to be on good terms or the evolution won’t work.

I’ve already said it: the pacing is terrible. Sometimes it goes too slow and then too fast. I thought they couldn’t fit all the storylines left, but suddenly we have 10 episodes ahead, which is still plenty of time.
