I want Cross to suffer so much.

I need him to be stuck up and see himself as better than everyone else, but still have terrible self esteem. I need him to do everything he can just to receive the most cold and dismissive "good job." I need him to cry himself to sleep because he just wants to be good but it feels like he's not being enough and he just wishes he got more praise but that's "selfish" so he beats himself up over it.

I need him to be sad and panicked and not say anything about it. I want him to be severely uncomfortable/pained from a situation but not say anything because it's from someone he cares about. I need him to like the person less afterwards and feel bad because he didn't say anything so it isn't their fault, they couldn't have known.

He deserves so much mental anguish./af
