The Taste of the Divine
Tumblr media
summary: reader introduces eddie to Sleep Token's The Summoning (iykyk)
wc: 0.9k
cw: modern!eddie x fem!reader, I'm gonna say 18+ smut adjacent by the end. Its very suggestive lol, reader is called baby a lot, eddie calls reader good girl because it's one of the lyrics, Eddie POV
a/n: the way I revisited this song today and was like eddie should hear this then RAN to my computer to put pen to paper. It was like a fever dream, honestly
Eddie scribbled away in his notebook on the floor of the living room. The TV chattered on. The white noise was useful to him when creating the twists and turns of his campaign. While planning feverishly, it was peaceful to him, something he hadn’t done as often as he would have liked since working full time. He became so lost in his fantasy, he didn’t notice you entering the room.
“Eddie?”
He flinched at the sound of your voice. “Baby, you scared me.” He laughed.
“Eddie, you have to hear this band.” Your tone was insistent. “They’re so metal, I know you’ll love it.”
Eddie chuckled at your seriousness. “Like, metal metal?”
“Yes! I mean, I think so! Come on. I’ll play this one song for you. It’s, like, insane.” You squatted down and started pulling his arm up with you.
“Ok! Ok, I’m coming!” Eddie scrambled up from the floor, trying to gather his bearings, as he fought to catch up with the arm trapped in your hold.
You all but dragged him to your shared bedroom. You jumped into bed, patting the spot next to you. Eddie gladly accepted. He watched as you placed your laptop between the two of you. You typed The Summoning into the search bar.
“Have you heard of Sleep Token before?” you asked.
“No, I haven’t,” Eddie said.
“I really think you’ll like them,” you said, your voice soft.
“I believe you, baby.” Eddie placed his hand on your thigh, rubbing small circles with his thumb.
You nodded and clicked play.
The song began with drums and a guitar right up his alley. Instinctually, he found himself nodding his head to the beat. He loved the blend of the singer’s voice with the instruments, all working together in harmony. The scream caught him off guard.
“Oh, that’s metal, baby. For sure,” Eddie turned to you with a grin exposing his excitement. Your eyes stayed on him like you didn’t want to miss a single reaction.
He returned his attention to the screen following along with the lyrics and the rhythm. The guitar solos left his mind wandering, piecing together the technicality, the specific fingerings. He wondered how quickly he could learn this on his own. He smiled to himself. He loved how well you knew him. Even as simple as a song recommendation, he couldn’t help but fall deeper for you, especially when this type of music wasn’t quite your usual genre of choice.
The music began to fade out, and Eddie’s smile grew bigger. “That was really good.”
“It’s not over yet,” you replied, your eyes glued to the screen. “Just wait.”
His eyebrows scrunched together but sat back to listen, you now in his line of sight.
The new soft music juxtaposed what came before, quiet and mysterious. The music swelled, building louder and louder, anticipation gathering in his lungs. He watched you in intrigue and awe as you leaned forward, the anticipation seemingly getting to you, too.
“Oh, and my love Did I mistake you for a sign from God”
The groove shook him to his core. He had never heard anything like it, certainly not in a metal song. It transcended the genre to a new plane. He didn’t want to be dramatic, but this song was changing everything he knew metal could be.
“Or maybe just to turn me on”
Your breathing hitched, stirring Eddie from his musings. You continued staring at the screen, no longer looking to Eddie for approval. He got the sense that this song wasn’t just for him anymore.
“I would be lying if I told you that I didn't wish that I could be your man Or maybe make a good girl bad”
He watched as a sigh escaped your lips. Your breathing slowed and your cheeks flushed a light shade of pink.
“I’ve got a river running right into you I’ve got a blood trail, red in the blue Something you say or something you do The taste of the divine”
You clutched the comforter. You watched the screen, your pupils dilating with every word spoken. It was a look that was all too familiar to Eddie. A look you gave when the tension between you was too much to bear. A look you only gave him.
He felt heat rise to his cheeks.
“You've got my body, flesh, and bone The sky above, the Earth below Nothing to say and nowhere to go The taste of the divine”
As the song ended, you released the breath you didn’t know you were holding in. “What’d you think?”
Now Eddie was the one staring. “I can’t decide if I should be jealous of them—”
“Jealous?” you asked incredulously. “Corroded Coffin—”
“—for riling up my girlfriend right in front of me,”
Your cheeks rouged, your eyes drifting from his.
He leaned forward, closing the space between you. “or if I should be proud” –Eddie tilted your chin to face him, his lips hovering over yours— “that you got so turned on by a metal song.”
“I—I, I thought you would like it.”
“Oh, I did, baby. I did.” He chuckled. “But my good girl was thinking bad thoughts, wasn’t she?”
A chill ran down your spine.
“You’ve got my body, flesh, and bone, baby,” Eddie said, brushing his lips against your ear. “Now, let me take care of you like the heaven-send you are.”

SHIFTING EXERCISE ⋆˙⟡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
answering for my spiderverse reality
Tumblr media
my name is Rowan Amara Victoria Nightwine.
my favourite food is lotus root soup? maybe? my tastes are fickle.
the movie i'd choose to watch for the rest of my life is avatar: the way of the water (and i'd bawl everytime neteyam dies).
my birthday is 7 December.
the song i'll always have a place for in my heart would be LUST by Chase Atlantic.
my favourite colour would be red (though i adore green too).
the most important thing to me would be my loved ones (and pets).
my favourite memory is laughing so hard at one specific hangout with my friends from the spider society that my stomach was aching, but i couldn't stop
my least favourite memory is watching peter die in my arms.
someone i dislike is miguel o'hara. i have so much beef with the man and wouldn't work with him if it didn't mean that i could help save a lot more people.
in a crowded room, i fear i'd look for hobie brown first. it's instinctual, my eyes searching for him in the mass of people, the first person i notice.
best music genre... i reserve the right not to choose. but if i had to, maybe r&b?
a topic i'd defend with my life is, important topics aside, humans are contradictory creatures and trying to fit yourself into a box for society would only make things so much worse. oh and it's not selfish to seek pleasure for yourself.
a character i relate to... i truly don't have kins :(
picturing my room, i'd say it exists in the inbetween. i know where my things are and certain things, like my bookshelves, are organised, but my bedside table and vanity are not.
gun to my head, am i funny? to me, absolutely. to others? i'm dead. (aka i have a very specific sense of humour)
i'd choose a fruit platter over a candy platter, just because i love fruits.
i'd choose sour over sweet and spice. i just like sour things, though spice is a close second.
my aesthetic is... ever changing. again, i don't like putting myself into boxes so i don't really have an aesthetic?
my sister, dahlia, lol. she would not be surprised that i'm a shifter mostly because she's a shifter too.
my hogwarts house is slytherin.
i'm an introvert.
my best school subject was either drama or literature.
a place someone can find me when i'm sad is probably my apartment. my apartment's one of my safe spaces, and i like to retreat to a place of comfort/ home when sad.
who am i? spiderman. rowan nightwine. a cosmic entity. there are many, many answers to this question.
music i don't enjoy is kpop. i've tried to listen to it many times but it just feels empty? to me. i think it's just because it's a very different genre than what i listen to and like. nothing against kpop fans though.
have i had near death experiences? uhh, a few times. i think it comes with the job.
who was my first love? contrary to popular belief, and something i'm never telling my fanbase and the public, my first love is actually harry osborn. we've kissed a few times (he was actually my first kiss uhh), but we're just best friends now.
has there been someone famous who i didn't like? oh loads. loads of people. (i've scripted out a lot alr though.) not going to name names though.
do i enjoy my fanbase? absolutely. they're sweethearts, and i love that they're always willing to give my new projects a chance. i love them so, so much.
what am i famous for? being my parents' child... but that aside, my modelling, acting, singing and fashion career.
my least favourite interview has to be the one from early on in my career. all they focused on was my looks and outfits, and when i tried to nudge the conversation back to the movie, the only thing they asked was whether or not i liked my costars and about significant others. like what the hell? take me seriously as an actor or i will quit mid interview.
my favourite instrument would probably be the guitar. i know, it's cliche, but it's just so gorgeous and i love the way it sounds in songs.
do i perform live? i do, actually, but the last time i performed was for a small music festival a few months after the release of my e.p.. i think i might look for space in my schedule to perform live again though.
Tumblr media
note: i know i should post my dr intro before this but that's taking forever to make with all its different section so have this in the meantime <3
this is the shifting exercise by @zaddizu.

pick a pile: "Yes or No?"
take a breath and think about a question of any type; then choose the photo/number that calls you the most to read your answer.
don’t take the reading too seriously. only take what resonates with you and leave the rest. if you're not called by any pile, let this reading slid as it may not hold messages for you. if you're called by more than one, there may be messages in each of those piles. remember that is a general reading and some things may not resonate with you. energies can change and readings are based on present ones (as you read); you're always in charge of your life.

answer: maybe You may have a goal or wish of sorts but it's like you're finding many impedimentson your road (or you're looking at other roads/possible shortcuts to get "faster" where you want: the fact is that, usually there are not shortcuts). Take some time for yourself, breathe, regain control, and go back on the road your guts/intuition are suggesting you. That is the only road that will take you where you want. Don't let emotions control you, use them (and what you have) at your advantage.

pile 2
answer: yes It is time to stand up for yourself. To put things into perspective, to change your pov. To let go of the past that was blocking you. To move forward and take your decision for yourself. To stop worrying and letting the past (even your past behaviours) stop you or make you think about the worst. Now it's time for things, for you, to change. To move towards your dreams, to not let your fears sabotage you. You're doing it all right, take a breathe and keep going. Never look back, unless it's to look at the experience you gained and act accordingly.
song: happily ever after | case

answer: yes! Your question may be love related (for some: yes they are the one). Whatever it is, let your intuition guide you. If you need to follow a specific dream, just do that, whatever the outcome will be, it will be good. You've done the work, now it's time to challenge your fears, to try new things without fearing messing up or "failing", to treat yourself and receive (drink water btw). Universe wants to gift you something, stay ready. Oh and yes, you can gift yourself that thing (book, ticket, purse, tarot deck?...) you want. You deserve it.
song: my universe | coldplay, bts

pile 4
answer: no Fox may be an omen/sign or you may be dreaming them. There's something you're not paying attention to or not listening at. You need to change that, to change an approach to something to receive a yes. It's like you've turned off your intuition atm. Maybe things are a bit overwhelming or stressing... it's okay, take a break, find your balance. It's okay if it's a new balance and it takes time: it happens after we go through big storms, we need to readapt, reconnect, to know our new self. Just realize it is a momentary thing. All is good, and good things are coming too (especially friends/lovers), don't worry. Have no fear.
song: dream a little dream of me | the mamas and the papas
- ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ -
pile 5
answer: yes Smile. Talk. (Focus on mouth). Stop and think if it's really you talking or it is your wounded ego trying to block you through fears. It's time for a new change after all the ups and downs. Think different: you've seen both worlds, so you know which can apply to you the most. It's time to let go of what others want you to think, it's time to be your own person. Calm/slow and steady, to win the race.
song: relight my fire | take that, lulu

pile 6
answer: no You may be getting signs already: for a new start to happen, you need to close an old chapter first. Stressing over something that cannot happen because you're unconsciously blocking it (staying connected from something in the past), wouldn't bring anythig different than what you have atm. I think you already know it, so take the right type of action. Take a breath, and let go. Even if it hurts. It will hurt more if you keep yourself there for no reason. New people coming in or a celebration of sort ahead!

Sanders Sides x MCR
Not necessarily art but it is a fun little SaSi related thing I decided to do! All for fun, so even though I took it way to seriously and made lists/charts, take my choices with a grain of salt~🌟
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explaination: So, I have a playlist that's just entirely songs from MCR/Gerard way that was 75 songs, but went up to 88 while I was doing this. I one day came up with the idea that I should take that and connect every single song on it to at least 1 SaSi character~🪐
With that out of the way, if you want to find out who ended up sharing songs by listening to the mixes I made for them all, I will be linking them at the bottom of this! (So avoid the images of the lists/charts and look for the group of 6 images with different shapes; the mixes will be just under that.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, how I did this is I basically listened through this 5 hour mix atleast twice, and wrote out a physical list of all the songs. If a character came to mind and stayed there they were then written down~
Which is why some have 1 person and others have 2/3. The order they're in here is basically whoever came up first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who got what was entirely based on the vibe I felt!
A lot of Logan's were dictated by this, but lyrics did come into play sometimes. Remus got a lot of solo songs for that reason, while the others came from a mix of both. (Instrumental sound could influence stuff too.)
I wasn't really thinking of shipping with the pairs for the most part by the way, but I don't really mind if people go in with any on the brain~
Some of them came to mind at the same time. Other times, the second person was a choice made later on. Same with the groups of 3!
Tumblr media
I also made some charts tallying up how many songs they had per 'album', and I did do a set for their solo and paired songs as well. (Sorry I just like forgot to add them before editing this???)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If a song was generally from around the same time and/or it had the same kind of sound, I usually included it under an album instead of the other category. (Except I don't think I counted Bury me in Black under Revenge for some reason???)
There were not enough trios for me to do a chart like this for them but I did type them out and literally, almost all of them were from bullets--
Tumblr media
I spent an actual full day making these charts and physically wrote the lists out twice, so I hope someone out there enjoys this!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now onto the mixes~! I did originally try and do versions of the different album covers but as the sides: it did not work out-
So I just made simple ones using the shapes I associated with them all. (Some turned out better than others-)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mixes: Roman Janus Remus Patton Logan Virgil
Please shuffle them by the way, I did not organize them in a specific order really~!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Feel free to share your different opinions/perspectives!! I'd love to read what you guys think and if wanted I can also provide the versions of all the lists/charts with out my answers!
(The next post I make will be art don't worry! Sorry this was so long-)

whats a good starting point for a guy who wants to get into led zeppelin!!
Tumblr media
HEHEHEHEEHEHE… hello anon, come in come in….. sit on this nice cozy chair dont mind the leather straps on the armrests heheeh……..
ok in all seriousness. And ill try to keep this as short as i can. theeee lz experience is hearing them play live, rather than the studio recordings. This may sound weird to hear from a guy born 20 years after lz stopped doing shows lol but theres a LOT of material out there that u can watch/listen to if u wanna get (what i assume is a fraction of) the experience. Probably the easiest thing to find and in best quality (though in my exp the quality of online streams is still atrocious, maybe theres some hq torrents though?) is “the song remains the same”, a concert film of three dates they played at MSG in 1973. but theres also videos floating around of their concerts at Royal Albert Hall 1970 and Earls court 1975 (you can check yt for these) plus a few odds and ends here and there (im a big fan of this tv appearance in france 1969, though this was super early on so their performance “style” isnt yet well defined, esp wrt plant, but the actual playing is still peak imo)
as far of audio-only live recordings go, theres of course the album version of TSRTS, the BBC sessions album (of various radio appearances they did through the years), and the album called “how the west was won” with live versions of many of their more popular songs taken from a couple dates in california in i believe 1972. These are all on spotify or yt or wherever else u listento music. Theyre also really well mastered (and remastered, and re remastered…) bc Jimmy Page is anal like that. So even if theyre live theyre great quality and u can hear every instrument distinctly.
ALSO theres like a million lz bootlegs out there, which is like its own niche subfandom(?). A bootleg is an illegal recording that fans made back in the 70s and then spread around and/or sold for money. the digital versions of many of these are available on yt and archive.org but theres also a huge marked of selling them, the og 70s vinyls are especially prized. idk much about lz bootlegs bc i never could listen to a single one all the way through as all the noise bothers my brain lol so if anyone reading this does and has tips please share<3
I spoke about live stuff bc in my opinion, and also according to members of lz, fans, various music critic type people, basically everyone agrees lol lz studio songs were just kind of the first iteration of what would then mutate and stretch into a more loose, longer, live experience. Imo lz, studio or live, is some of the best music ever made point blank period, but its definitely not for everyone, in that you have to be able to get in that classic rock/prog rock* type of mood of songs lasting anywhere from 6 minutes studio to 35 minutes live, and taking you on this weird journey with ebbs and flows, rather than having a tight structure that is easier to follow and listen to like all pop music ever. i mean this in an entirely value neutral way: a pop song, whether from 1965 or 2015, is easy to listen to bc IT carries YOU through the listening experience, whether you want to or not, whereas for instance a 20 min version of dazed and confused live requires you to willingly be there. Its not work or effort, exactly (at least not to me) but it definitely requires a different type of attention.
and btw maybe you knew all this already lol but i said it incase you or anyone else who ends up reading this doesn’t know a lot about rock
ANYWAY, of course theres also the actual studio albums. i dont think theres any specific way you should listen To them, like my friend has been going thru them chronologically but back in the day when i was just getting into lz i just jumped from one song or album to another as the mood struck me (which is how hoth ended up being the first lz album i ever heard… i think itd finished torrenting first and i liked the cover and took it on my ipod on holiday with me, and now its my favorite album of all time & engraved on my very soul lol). If you want MY recs of the stuff i like best, i have this recruitment playlist where i put a mix of my fave lz songs and the ones i think are must-listen for any new fan.
Ok so i ended up writing a bunch anyway LMAO. ty for the ask lmk if u have any specific questions ❤️

sekai movie thoughts thread start obvious le spoilers
Hatsune Miku is an existence that supports others, but she herself only exists through the creativity, work, and heart of other people. <- If you enjoy such a concept, then you'll probably have a good time regardless of your level of PRSK knowledge.
Good little film! I enjoyed it.
Anything that had to door with Batsu Miku's sekai or the Collective unconscious was like. Enrapturing. The most beautiful and creatively charged segments of the film by far.
So like, look. This movie is about an hour and 20 minutes. Including Batsu Miku, The OCs, AND EVERY SEKAI VARIANT OF EACH VOCALOID? That's a fuckton of characters, and obviously not enough time to show Miku's journey with everyone in full. So the movie rapidly hops from perspective to perspective and there's also like. Several Montages, LMAO? The movie tries to spread the OC focus time evenly, and I think does a good job at that, but honestly I think MMJ was dealt the weakest hand in what moments they specifically got.....which is a shame because theyre so thematically aligned (and the movie aknowledges that a little)
There's A Few Good Bits for every unit fan and the movie does do its best to give everyone a little bit of a moment. For this kind of plot, I think this was honestly the best option if they didn't want to make this like. strictly a Leoni movie (WHICH THEY COULDVE. I WOULDVE POPPED OFF). For non-PRSK fans, it gives you the impression that these kids are not too far removed from the movie-original characters Which Is Important, and PRSK fans will be sated by the amount of fanservice they sprinkled in.
Batsu Miku is a sopping wet cat and i love her. Cherish the girl. I honestly love how things get consistently Worse each time she makes progress. I do love that the movie reinforces the fact that you can be touched by the existence of Hatsune Miku even if you're not directly listening to a vocaloid song because the creatives whose work you are experienced was influenced by her and those who use her.......It's good.....
Before the movie hit the states, I was made aware that the movie had a Certain Scene that could be triggering to people who have experienced a tsunami/typhoon. I was a little confused by said warning, but I get it now. It's a really cool sequence but also goddamn........ I do love how Meiko/Kaito take charge of the situation in a lot of the scenarios because they are the first! (And the latter was considered to be a failure). WxS Kaito and Meiko are seriously awesome.
The movie-original characters are so cutely designed. S/o the drunk lady chilling in Ken's cafe while Batsu Miku is experiencing painful ego death. There's So Much Fucking Vocaloid Content In This Goddamn Movie. There were like a fuckton of Ps credited for their work (music, album art, MVs, instrumentals, etc) showing up in the movie in some way. I pogged hearing MIMI and Harumaki Gohan's works.......
The concert sequences are good. I was. enamored by FUN!!! it's so fucking good. As a diehard MMJ fan I felt blessed. Minoharu and Shizuairi? In my dance sequence? It's more likely than you think. Smile Symphony and There is Light, Here also got really cool sequences. ......I don't like Fire Dance in general and the concert sequence didn't do it any favors. Story was good but like in an all-rounder way, you know.
I love the 01. We can always start from zero(0), it's never to late to try once(1) again. They're a pair of numbers, our feelings are meant to be conveyed to others. There's the implication behind the 0 in 01 is that there are bigger numbers you can hit. this is only the beginning. The broken 01s resemble chains to me, which is a really sick visual.
"Arigato, soushite....sayonara" <- I know they were chuckling and giggling writing that in the script. TWICE. but its used really good. I love the second one. It felt like when Ps eventually "graduate" from Vocaloid, but like, they always carry Hatsune Miku in their hearts man......
Mafuyu was kind of a showstealer? There's something about her existing in a non live-2d VN surrounded by more emotive characters that makes Her Deal just feel more apparent. She's given plently of good moments too. Tsukasa is too by virtue of being The Gag Character but that's a little different.
25ji Meiko's legs are so sexy.
That's pretty much it, im still processing the movie. I was expecting essentially the equivalent of those original movies for an existing anime IP and 1-hr specials for cartoons, and that's pretty much what I got, so I'm satsifed. Hatsune Miku is good and i love her.

Sonic character music HCs
I’ve been obsessed with both the Sonic the hedgehog series and Music in general for over a year now, so i figured i could combine those interests in a fun way. I’m gonna describe what kind of music i personally think the characters would like/listen to. And just so you know, this is just my thoughts on it, i’m not saying im right or anything. And while i am trying to match these genuinely, it’s also not something i’m taking fully seriously. I’m just doin this for fun :)
I also suggest looking up some of the terms/artists/genres i use here if you’re not already familiar with them! Might help you understand my reasoning a bit more, and who knows, you might even find a new favourite artist 👀
Oh, and one more thing. While i am of course going to go off of music i’m familiar with, i’ll try to avoid assigning characters music that i like just because its music that i like. That being said, i will of course, be just a tad bit biased. Anyways, time to start with the blue boy himself!!
Sonic
Sonic is somewhat easy. Seeing as how his main thing is standing up against tyranny, i imagine he’d definitely be a fan of punk. At first i thought of pop punk specifically, due to its high energy, but i feel like Sonic would find it a bit too commercial. Same thing with skate punk. I feel like anarcho-punk could be a little more up his alley? Maybe something like chumbawumba.
Oh, and personal bias time: I think he would like King gizzard and the Lizard wizard due to the themes of enviromentalism.
Example of Sonic’s music taste
Tails
Now, i’m completely split between two different paths here. The first option is EDM. Just overall music that sounds electronic, maybe dance, i dunno. The second option however, is one that i personally prefer: Just like, music with weirdass time signatures and polyrhythms n shit. Math rock, Prog, that kinda stuff. Specific bands i’m thinking about is Tool, King crimson, Black midi, maybe even KGLW (again, personal bias). Tails would think music theory is fucking dope and would be OBSESSED with this kinda music lmao.
Example of Tails’ music taste
Knuckles
Now, this is the rare instance that i feel justified in being biased, because his level themes in sa2 make me believe that knuckles is a hiphop head. Specifically, instrumental hip hop. I think he’d be a big fan of J Dilla’s style of hip hop production in general, with the soft fuzzy feel of songs like The light. Otherwise i feel like he likes some boom bap, like Illmatic.
Example of Knuckles’ music taste
Amy
I honestly feel like Amy is the kinda person who enjoys like, any type of music? Like this gal will listen to some chill folk music and then go directly to hardcore industrial rock lmao. I think her favourite genre is pop though. First artist that pops into mind is Carly rae jepsen, not only because she makes great pop music, but also since her songs are often about love, which i feel fits Amy pretty well. She’d probably like something more off-kilter like art pop too. She LOVES Björk, i feel confident in saying that.
Example of Amy’s music taste
Shadow
I’ve noticed that this one is quite varied (and if you’re curious, i don’t really mind the whole taylor swift thing, but i also don’t really care for it either), but i want to bring up a genre that i haven’t seen anyone else suggest Shadow being a fan of: Shoegaze. I think he would find the whole noisy, dreamlike, nearly overwhelming feeling of shoegaze calming. I don’t know, there’s just something about Shoegaze that makes me feel like it fits shadow perfectly. Only bands i really know are Slowdive and My bloody valentine, but i still feel confident in my opinion.
I also feel like the idea of him enjoying indie folk (something like the mountain goats) but would not be caught DEAD listening to it is really funny. The day that rouge finds out will not be a happy day for anyone in a ten mile radius.
Example of Shadow’s music taste
Rouge
Now, there’s a very easy answer here. Jazz. But i feel like rouge would also enjoy stuff like Soul and funk. She’d also check out music Shadow listens to, both to annoy him and out of genuine interest. Not much else i have to say here tbh.
Example of Rouge’s music taste
Omega
Harsh noise.
Silver
Similarly to Amy, i think Silver enjoys practically anything and everything, and is also super open to trying new stuff. If he has a preference though, i think he enjoys dance music? Or just electronic stuff in general. Daft punk comes to mind, specifically Discovery.
Example of Silver’s music taste
Blaze
I feel like Blaze is someone who simply hasn’t been able to listen to a lot of music yet? Her friends (particularly Silver and Amy) have given her a bunch of recommendations, and while she doesn’t have a preference yet, she has enjoyed some of the stuff that they have played.
Vector
On the complete contrary to Blaze, Vector is a supreme Music nerd. You name an artist or album, he is at the very least aware of them. He’s the kinda guy who will talk about some super obscure folk album from the 70′s and refer to it as if its some kind of holy grail. It’s great. He would have a vinyl collection, but due to the chaotix’s financial situation, he settles for CDs instead. Again, he enjoys practically anything, but i feel like his favourite genre is progrock. He also remixes music for fun.
And thats it!! I’ll try to think of more that i can add in a reblog, but for now, this is all that i can think of. Again, this is just my opinion, but i’d love to hear some of yalls thoughts!! why you think im correct or wrong or however!!

5 Songs - QL Show Edition
Tagged by @thatgirl4815 - thank you for tagging me!
When you get this, list 5 songs from the Asian QL media that you actually listen to.
🎶They do not have to be custom-made for the series.
🎶Non-western tracks only. Let’s support Asian music and languages!
🎶Feel free to tag anyone who may be interested in participating.
🎶Add #5qls tag to your post for others to find the new favourites!
So I challenged myself to only put one song per artist/show here, elsewise over half of the answers would be the same artist, lol.
Anyway, without further blathering, my list:
Over the Moon (Eclipse OST) - hands down one of my favorite songs ever, not just from QL. I love everything about it, and it's one of the few songs I never skip, even if I'm not really in the mood. It has the ability to take me right back to watching The Eclipse for the first time, and how much I loved that damn show (and Akk, favorite character in just about anything ever). It just puts a sort of wistfulness in my chest and then just makes me want yet another rewatch. Also I just love Khaotung's voice. I said it. I don't think I've heard an OST he's done and not loved it.
youtube
It's Always You (Between Us OST) - Pretty much same as the above, really. I know that this show wasn't for everyone but it caught me and caught me hard, and this song will take me right back to that feeling every time. Just hearing the intro makes me a little misty, lol.
youtube
Follow (My Beautiful Man OST) - It was really a tossup between this one and "Bitter" from S2, but this is the OG and I was obsessed for a long long time so it nudged it out. I just love it - it's Kiyoi Sou, right there in a song - all arrogance and confusion and desperate need to be adored. Impeccable.
youtube
Sunshower (Eternal Yesterday) - Yet again, a song that just flings me right back into the place where I was watching this show that I knew was going to break me and yet unable to stop because it was just that good. I adore this song - it's wistful but hopeful at the same time, and despite how much that show broke me I can't listen to this without smiling (now, that is). Also just have to plug the show for a sec - it's so good, great chemistry and amazing performances and has the best confession scene I've personally watched yet. Third episode is perfection and honestly I can't recommend it enough if you can handle it. I love it so much (might actually be time for a rewatch).
youtube
Closer (Cupid's Last Wish OST) - Have I ever gone on here about how much I love this show? Because I do. It's so much fun, and this song perfectly encapsulates that. Every time I hear the song I get a little happy inside, and it's also really great to put on while driving. It's a song made for montages, lol. And it's got all the charm of the show - no seriously, CLW is super charming, I can't believe I almost didn't bother with it because I was afraid it would do the "I love you, not your body" thing (fine in theory, not my favorite thing when it comes to queer media specifically). Now it's one of my comfort shows. Rewatch it all the time when I need to smile. Mix's and Earth's voices complement each other really well, too.
youtube
Honorable Mentions: Let's Try (I can't with that high note okay I just sat there gaping at my PC the first time I heard it), I'm Not Boring You're Just Bored (introduced me to Tilly Birds, thank you Jojo (and trailers totally count hush)), Your World, My World, Strange Days, Go Sign, Bitter (as mentioned above), Kiyoi Sou's Theme (instrumental but it's so good),
Not tagging anyone because I don't know who has been, but if you are reading this and you haven't been tagged please consider this your invitation to play. But please tag me so that I can read the answers!

In the kaleidoscope of 1960s music, where rock, pop, folk, and psychedelia collided in a burst of creative freedom, one song stands out as a delightfully odd gem: "Winchester Cathedral" by The New Vaudeville Band.
youtube
Released in 1966, this catchy, humorous tune, with its quirky vaudeville flair and vibrant retro energy, captured hearts and defied the era’s musical norms. Nearly six decades later, its eclectic charm continues to resonate, proving that a song doesn’t need to be profound to be unforgettable.
"Winchester Cathedral" is a masterclass in musical eccentricity. Its megaphone-filtered vocals, evoking the tinny crooners of the 1920s, paired with a jaunty rhythm and whimsical lyrics about a jilted lover blaming a cathedral, create a sound that is both nostalgic and novel. In an era dominated by the raw edge of The Rolling Stones and the poetic introspection of Bob Dylan, this song dared to be unabashedly silly. It wasn’t trying to change the world or define a generation—it was simply fun, and that was its genius. The melody, impossible to dislodge from one’s head, and the playful narrative, blaming an ancient cathedral for romantic woes, invited listeners to smile and sing along without overthinking.
The song’s vibrant energy lies in its defiance of genre constraints. The 1960s were a musical melting pot, where boundaries were blurred, and anything could become a hit. "Winchester Cathedral" thrived in this environment, channeling the spirit of a bygone vaudeville era while winking at the modern listener. Its instrumentation—brassy flourishes, a cheeky bassoon, and a sprightly rhythm—felt like a time machine to a music hall, yet it topped charts alongside The Beatles and The Supremes. This fearless eclecticism, embracing a style so out of step with the day’s trends, underscores the era’s openness to experimentation. It reminds us that the 1960s weren’t just about rebellion or introspection but also about joy and playfulness.
What makes the song’s charm enduring is its ability to evoke a universal, lighthearted nostalgia. For those who heard it in 1966, it conjures memories of simpler times—family gatherings, crackling radios, or spinning 45s. Its humor, rooted in absurdity rather than cynicism, feels timeless, offering a brief escape from the complexities of modern life. Even today, younger listeners stumble upon it and find themselves captivated by its weirdness, a testament to its refusal to be pigeonholed into a single era. Unlike many 1960s hits tied to specific cultural movements, "Winchester Cathedral" floats free, its quirky spirit untethered to any one moment.
Critics might dismiss it as a novelty, a one-hit wonder that pales beside the era’s heavier anthems. Yet, its Grammy win for “Best Rock N’ Roll” record—however baffling—speaks to its undeniable impact. It didn’t need to be revolutionary to leave a mark; it succeeded by being infectiously itself. In a world often weighed down by seriousness, there’s value in a song that invites us to laugh, whistle, and embrace the absurd.
"Winchester Cathedral" is more than a musical footnote. It’s a vibrant reminder of the 1960s’ boundless creativity and a celebration of music’s power to uplift through sheer eccentricity. Its catchy, humorous charm endures because it doesn’t ask for deep analysis—it asks only for a smile. In that, it remains a small but sparkling triumph, proving that sometimes, the quirkiest songs leave the longest echoes.

kpop report february 2025
hello! and welcome once again(?) to my adventures in listening to every single kpop song released in 2025. already i can tell that this project will have serious repercussions on my spotify algorithm, from which i may never recover..... alas! the things we do in the name of journalistic integrity.
anyway, overall i'd say that february was a very funky & groovy month in kpop. great news for people of taste (in general), and especially for me (specifically). happy birthday to me!! anyway:
my top 5 tracks
G-DRAGON - Take Me
god this song rules. the production is incredible, g-dragon's kind of throaty/scratchy vocals rule, and then when the guitar solo hits??? whew! even if every other kpop song i listened to this year was absolute hell, this song alone would have made this whole project worth it, and i'm deadly serious about that. side note - i don't think there's been a single time that i've listened to this song without succumbing to the urge to dance, and that includes the time i was laying flat on my back in bed.
ONE PACT - 100!
another instant, irresistible banger. this song dares to go in some unexpected and borderline corny directions, but it goes there with such unabashed confidence that i can only respect it. thank you boys!!!!!!!
JISOO - earthquake
this song feels deceptively simple, and to be honest if i hadn't been listening to it with headphones the first time i heard it i'm not sure i would have given it a second listen. the mix and panning on this song are seriously so good and compelling - listening with headphones feels like you're wrapped up in it completely.
RESCENE - CRASH
now that's what i call pop music! this is quite simply a great girl group song. i love that most of the song is pretty pared-back as compared to the fuller instrumentation and harmonization in the choruses. it really gives those moments a sweeping, dreamy feeling that makes this song so fun to listen to.
LISA (feat. Doja Cat, RAYE) - Born Again
i'm pretty sure this was the first kpop single released this month, and boy did it set the tone for a whole month of great dance tracks. i don't know the, like, technical terminology to describe this, but there's some cool key/chord progression stuff happening on the lines 'baby to be born, oh baby to be born again' starting at around 3:30 that surprises and delights me every time. just a nice little treat to close out the track. also, looooove to see doja on a track! more kpop collabs please!!
BIBI - Bluebird
beautiful, simple. sounds like a lullaby. i love bibi's vocals.
my top 3 albums
ONE PACT - PINK CRUSH
i didn't discover one pact until i saw a bunch of people on twitter talking about deserved, which is absolutely wild because jay and jongwoo were two of my favorite boys planet boys. like.... i literally follow them both on instagram.... wtf. anyway, all this to say that i was very excited when i saw they had a comeback this month and that excitement was warranted! this album came out on valentine's day and it is a wonderful demonstration of lover boy-ism. at times dreamy and dramatic, at others upbeat and fun, at others just kind of like.... vaguely kpop horny r&b, the boys really brought it all on this album. plus we are treated to the absolute joy of jay chang's beautiful, perfect voice. i said it before and i'll say it again: thank you boys!!!!!!
G-DRAGON - Übermensch
the soundscapes g-dragon created on this album are incredible. there are soooo many surprising and delightful things going on here. i guess for some it could be too much? but not for me.
put simply:
Tumblr media
ARrC - nu kidz: out the box
honestly i just think this one's fun. every song kind of feels like it's ripping off an nct song, which sounds like a huge insult. and..... i mean i guess it would be if i didn't love and cherish nct!! i'm sorry arrc! in the future i promise i will try to appreciate you for you.
side notes
listened to plave for the first time ever this month.... normally i would try to be nicer about saying this kind of thing, but plave fans please demand better for yourselves! listening to the full album literally felt like i was being held hostage in the worst possible way. even worse, i only just found out that there are actual men behind the virtual boys and it has me feeling really bad for these guys. do they get to express any real parts of themselves at all? truly wretched stuff.
happy birthday to fellow february pisces wendy shon, kevin moon, and ten!!
sm has debuted a new girl group. despite knowing nothing about this group when i pressed play, it was immediately obvious that they must be an sm group because of how damn polished they are already.
speaking of....... still waiting for you to announce that ten solo comeback, sm!!!
🐈‍⬛✨wooyo moment of the month✨🐈‍⬛
little homie keeps showing off his abs/belly. clearly he is currently in the midst of a serious hot boy/feeling himself era, and honestly i am so happy for him. nobody deserves to have a hot boy era more than jung wooyoung! 🔥🔥
jk, of course the real star of the month is sagittarius!!!! obviously i am always desperate for whatever wooyoung parts kq deigns to give us, so it's fun to get a song (and choreo!!) that was created specifically for him, and that suits him so well. and also.... it's just a good song! i tend to prefer ateez songs that have an electronic, dance-y vibe, and this one is a real earworm - i contemplated putting this song on my top tracks list, but since it's not an official album release and i already knew i would be talking about it here i decided to leave it off..... kind of arbitrary but whatever. i mentioned earlier that i was really digging g-dragon's vocals on his album, and there's that same scratchy/throaty quality to wooyoung's voice on this track that i really love. idk i'm just so proud of him i love him so much!!! jung wooyoung you will always be famous!!!!!!!
youtube
and with that, we're officially moving on to a new month of kpop! there's a ton of new releases scheduled for march, and quite a few that i've been looking forward to, so it's looking like it'll be a fun month of listening. see y'all next time! (maybe?)

Authenticity and Evolution: Inside the World of Drew and Badger So I just got the scoop on this new surf rock EP *Splash Royale* by “Fly Janet” (Drew and Badger), and honestly? It's kind of awesome. These guys are doing something totally different from their previous stuff - it's like they've decided to just have fun and not overthink everything. The whole EP basically came from this totally random inspiration. Drew's apparently a huge Sauce Walka fan, and they just decided to create something that feels good, no deep hidden meanings required. And yeah, that makes the music feel super authentic. Some of the tracks are really personal. Like, "Pipe Dream" was written right after Drew's niece was born, which is just such a cool backstory. And then they've got these wild instrumental tracks that basically throw genre rules out the window. What I'm loving is how they're just doing their thing. No trying to fit into what people expect from a surf rock band, just pure creativity. The track "Head of Cow" even has this whole visual tribute planned that sounds pretty intriguing. If you're into music that feels fresh and doesn't take itself too seriously, *Splash Royale* is definitely worth a listen. It's the kind of EP that just feels like two musicians having a blast and inviting you along for the ride. Listen to Splash Royale https://open.spotify.com/album/2gXVyPJkK7hi8yWDUNPq4o?si=kzbn-C2AROOuAh1UBWIv9w Follow Fly Janet on Facebook Twitter Spotify Soundcloud Bandcamp Youtube Instagram Tiktok   “Congratulations on your EP! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind Splash Royale? -Thanks so much! A lot of surf rock albums these days have a horror movie and rockabilly vibes. That isn't our thing. We don't actively seek any type of sound. These songs are a natural progression in our song writing. The title Splash Royale is intriguing. What’s the story behind the name? - We had been listening to a lot of Sauce Walka. Drew came up with the name. We loved the title. Didn't want to overthink it. How does this EP differ from your previous work in terms of style and themes? - It has a brighter happier sound compared to anything we've done before. We have been very happy with how much fun it has been to write and play in this band. The vibe came through on the recordings. [caption id="attachment_58176" align="alignnone" width="1170"] - It has a brighter happier sound compared to anything we've done before.[/caption] Did you collaborate with any other artists or producers for this project? If so, how did those collaborations influence the final sound? - We had 0 collaborations on this ep. This album is just Drew and me. Not that we are opposed to working with anyone. It just didn't happen this time. Is there a specific track on the EP that you feel is particularly personal or meaningful to you? Why? - Drew wrote pipe dream after the birth of his niece. It was special to see it finally make it on an album. Your fans love your unique sound. How do you balance staying true to your signature style while exploring new musical directions? - We don't think about them at all. We write music that we want to write, and that is how we stay true to ourselves. Authenticity is what our "fans" like to see/hear. If they don't enjoy it, that's fine, but we try to stay away from the thought of what would our fans like to hear. What themes or messages are you exploring in Splash Royale? - M.O.E. Money over everything. Nah lol, I'm just fucking with you. There is no message. We just wanted an album that sounded different, and sonically had the same vibe. https://open.spotify.com/artist/5gtFez03OZCSULAEcOCXkp?si=zCuhFoioQN-OWf5JePfLkA Are there any music videos or visual content planned for tracks from Splash Royale? - Our first music video is going to be head of cow. Right before we announced the release date of "Splash Royale" (Chris) Badger's mom passed away unexpectedly. The music video is going to be old 8mm home video footage of his mom from when she was a kid.
She grew up all over the world in places like Vietnam. The video is going to be a memorial to her life. She was an amazing woman who always supported her sons music endeavors. Badger's sister is an amazing artist and photographer. She did our album cover, and she is doing the music video as well. Looking back on the journey of creating Splash Royale, what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned? -Don't be afraid to be yourself, and just try new shit. These songs sound like nothing we would have written in the past. We are proud of it even if everyone ends up hating it. Is there anything else you’d like your fans to know about Splash Royale or your creative journey? -Fucking life is short dude. Don't be afraid to be yourself and do the shit you wanna do. We don't take life for granted. So while we have the time and ability to make music we are gonna have fun and take advantage of our time here on earth. Where can people find your music and keep up with your latest updates? - Spotify, Apple Music, all those sites. Our IG is where we tend to post all our latest updates. TikTok for all our thirst trap videos.

Current Joys - East My Love ALBUM REVIEW
Tumblr media
The leaves are changing, the hot cocoa is starting to be made, sweaters are coming out of their hiding smelling like mothballs, hurricanes are ravaging the southeastern United States, and I just changed my bong water which means one thing - IT’S FALL BABY!! And what genre of music goes better with the fall season than folk music? The acoustic guitars, slow soft songs with heart wrenching lyrics that you listen to despite already feeling super fucking sad, plus guys in flannels?? I literally cannot think of anything more fall. One album that was released at, seemingly, the perfect time for me to open the windows and take in the newly cool autumn air, as if they planned it that way, is the new Current Joys album - East My Love.
I won’t say I’ve followed Current Joys for this long but I have been listening to them since 2018, specifically their album A Different Age. I pull this album out yearly like Halloween decorations, trying to feel something in a season where I already feel too much, let’s say I use it for special reasons. A lot of their other releases have fallen under the radar for me except for their previous release LOVE+POP with features from bigger named artists like Lil Yachty, a fun dive into a different sort of genre overall, but didn’t resonate with me personally.
East My Love, similar to LOVE+POP, is another exploration into a different genre for the multi-instrumentalist Nick Rattigan, the driving force behind Current Joys. As I mentioned before in my Alien Nosejob write up, there is a lot of fun to be had from making music solo especially as a multi-instrumentalist where you can delve into whatever genre of music you want to make - and this time Current Joys sheds the indie droning of A Different Age, as well as the pop sensibilities of the aptly named LOVE+POP, for one that’s dripping with influences from the Alt-Country phase of the 90s to the pop-folk craze that owned the radios in the early 2010s. East My Love is thick with folk cliches, including songs titled “Oh, Sister” and “Lullaby for the Lost” - just based on the album art alone you know what you’re getting yourself into when you click play.
And if the song titles and album art weren’t convincing enough to you that this is a folk album, what greets you as the first song is the beautiful Echoes of the Past. The simple instrumentation, just guitar and violin/fiddle (The difference being a tone thing or a speed thing I don’t know) is all they need to intro an album like this. It lulls you into thinking it’s just a simple solo-artist folk album before it goes into the full band sound of California Rain. It feels almost out of a Matchbox 20 album from the beginning, then at the chorus it gets loud only in the way that non-traditional folk artists know how to. After a repetition of the verse and chorus there is a breakdown featuring the fiddle, with some guitar in the background too almost making a brass effect to it. Seriously, it’s difficult to tell if there are trumpets in this or not, as it’ll make you think one thing before showing you something different. To be included with this song is Days of Heaven, sort of an interlude after California Rain - invoking the feeling of being at church on a Sunday morning.
Next is Never Seen A Rose, another example of the 90s influence on this album - as Nick’s voice takes on a higher raspier pitch, androgynous like how Wheatus sounds on Teenage Dirtbag. This utilizes dual vocals, as well as Nick’s general vocal range and ability, creating a feeling that he is singing a duet with himself. Especially as the big chorus comes in, using both their falsetto and head voice to create a robust sound. Then after that large sound comes the soft slow drawl of a fiddle/violin (fiddlin?) reminding me of informational videos at museums, before going back into that 90s sound. The song fizzles out and sizzles right into the next track Lullaby for the Lost - another classic folk song with some fun production choices, especially the back and forth with the vocals and violiddle (I really should’ve done more research) in the second and third chorus. It’s sort of an energy killer, but good if you’re just chilling out, going for a nice long drive.
We pick up the pace a little bit with Oh, Sister another song that plays into folk cliches to help familiarize the audience immediately to what’s going on. It’s a very relatable track for anyone else who has family members that don’t necessarily agree with their lifestyle. This is a plea to his sister to treat him the same, but to also respect who he is as a person. Ending the song with the haunting lines “Time is an ocean, but it ends at the shore, you may not see me here tomorrow.” Then we have the unfortunately titled They Shoot Horses, this song has a classic country ride to it, you could almost hear Toby Keith crooning those lyrics, although if they were truly written by him they’d probably be a little more insincere. It uses the imagery of having to euthanize a horse after they are injured in what is the rider's fault. They didn’t do anything and yet this innocent creature must suffer for your mistake. These deep lyrics with a beautiful chorus sandwich two huge swelling instrumental breakdowns before slowly fizzling out.
SPEAKING OF SLOWLY, next is Slowly Likely the Wind. Another simple acoustic song, they leave the frills behind in this one, even the violiddlin isn’t even present as acoustic guitar and bass ring out. Just the walk up to the chorus gets me so pumped to hear what’s gonna happen next, with a beautiful hook to tie it all together. This I think is where a lot of their 70’s folk rock influence comes out, conjuring up The Band and the Eagles especially in the simple but impactful chorus. Lullaby to Slowly is definitely longest part of the album with some of these songs kind of falling into almost boring territory, though bringing you back in with a solid riff or breakdown. This album is for a long car ride, okay? You gotta be in it for the long haul.
But we pick things up a little bit with Tormenta, finally using electric guitar as the main rhythm force, something we have yet to hear on this album. You can definitely feel a lot of Bright Eyes inspiration in a lot of this album but it’s truly on display with Tormenta. There are great harmonies when there needs to be in this song, using it to amplify the uniqueness of Nick’s voice as it’s against this angelic backdrop.
Now I will say I am starting to get a little tired of the song structure all of these songs take, verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus/verse outro, I want something fast, that I don’t have to think too hard about, OH WHEN WILL YOU COME?
Bitch I’m right here! says Sister Christian the next song on the album. One of my absolute favorites for sure right here, this song fucking rocks. So very alt-country, I love it when any song can use a riff as a hook/recurring theme. They do meander a bit, pushing the song to be a little bit longer when it really could’ve been a tight 1m50s, GET ME IN THE EDITING ROOM! But really I love this song, definitely a huge stand out track, I wish it were earlier in the album just so I could’ve heard it sooner.
The second to last track is the title track, East My Love, and boyhowdy what a title track it is. The longest song on the album it starts off with Nick going into their falsetto rasp during the first verse into the chorus. Then the second verse comes along and I’m just gonna type it out not say anything else about it, just, it’s good - AND I WILL BURY ALL YOUR TEARS/CAUSE THERE’S ALWAYS USE IN CRYIN/AND I WILL CONSUME ALL YOUR FEARS/SO YOU’LL NEVER HAVE TO HIDE THEM/WHAT’S IT LIKE TO DISAPPEAR/ FROM EVERYTHING YOU ONCE RELIED ON/SO WHEN YOU’RE STUCK OUT IN THE EAST/THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A LIGHT ON. Man, I love that. After that we hit up the chorus one more time then end with another instrumental outro. Lastly is a Simon & Garfunkle cover, Feelin Groovy, I kind of wish they used this as a secret track at the end of East My Love just to be a little fun. It almost seems with how the previous song ends, maybe that was the intention? I don’t know if there are rights issues since it’s a cover or something. But it’s a fun way to end a pretty sad album, leaves ya with a good taste in your mouth.
Overall: This is a great driving album. As someone who spends a lot of time on the road, you have no idea how much that means to me. With catchy hooks that aren’t too simple or too complicated, songs that make you think and relate to. It’s these types of albums that feel so good to listen to at full volume, windows down in your car. It’s okay if you’re a little cold, grab that sweatshirt from the back of your car and let yourself be made warm by the sweet sounds of acoustic guitar and viofilinddle.

november song recs
i know this month hasn't ended yet, but i know it's gonna get busy after thanksgiving break, so i'm gonna write this now. i want to start writing these to sort of remember these months by songs i liked. a good reminder to how each month was like. this month was a lot less vocaloid centric than usual. maybe that's good. i'm becoming more normal.....
---this december - ricky montgomery
the second i heard this song i immediately fell in love. it felt like something i've heard before, something that would have played a lot during my childhood. it's so familiar. it really reminds me to not be so depressed and hopeless this winter, reminding me how wonderful life can be. because maybe, this winter, "i'll remember".
---internet yamero - needy girl overdose, kotoko, aiobahn
i tried to listen to this song before (because the vibes are immaculate), however i did not like the parts before the "chorus". well... i gave it another try because the chorus is just too good. the parts before the chorus i recently found to be so cool as well. the deliriousness kind of brings a smile to my face... it really is a song that encapsulates the internet well.
---spoiled princess - fujiwo
yeah i already wrote a post about this so i won't say much. what a nice song in a specific trope i really like. emunene cover is also splendid.
---animal - deco27
why am i still listening to this i swear it's been months. i first listened to the amane cover (which i honestly... like better. the instrumental is different and the timbre of her voice is really nice) but i recently started listening to the og vocaloid one too. one of the few deco27 songs i like... i guess the onomatopoeias are very catchy... as well at the 8-8-7#-8! that it does. a lot
---gehenna - wotaku
very recent addition, but it's very memorable. it vaguely sounds like happy halloween??? the instrumental/verses have such a different feeling compared to the chorus... but what a wonderful song in terms of its lyrics. "'i want to stay alive'/ i don't know why/ but 'i want to stay alive'" as well as "'i want to stay alive'/ 'I don't want to stay alive'/ it's so unfortunate/but we have to live"... and the whole last stanza on "deceiving" and "couldn't tell you". i love how it also says "and this is so sad". what wonderful wording. because no matter what, we just have to keep living. one thing that's throwing me off is the vague rapping in the background...? what is going on in the instrumental. also wtf mr. shanti guy made this. such a different style.
---phantasm suite - hoyomix "the golden midsummer"
okay. hear me out. it's a really really good instrumental piece okay... and the spoken word really makes it even better. "often times, i could not even see right in front of me/we will meet again, no matter how far along down the road", "to you from the past, i hope you liked this song", "please, be proud of all that is unreal... for we are greater than this world", "it has never voiced a complaint, for that is its destiny"... it reminds me of summer when i played this event.
---those eggs aren't dippy - jack stauber
the first 10 seconds are so fucking good????? especially the "let me in your eaaarrrr" i even made it my alarm! it's perfect because it's so short. unfortunately it's not doing a great job of waking me up. it's too catchy.
---love ka - hiiragi kirai
even though i personally did not listen to this song a lot this month, i recommended this song (via musescore) to a friend, and they really loved it so that's pretty notable. getting everyone hooked on vocaloid. seriously that musescore cover is so good. they adapted special quirks love ka does in its instrumental/vocals for piano, but not in the exact same way. they made a piano arrangement, not transcription. like tremolo for piano instead of vibrato???? gives it such a nice touch!!!

JUNE DUG UP FROM THE GRAVE
It's been a busy month gentlemen. I've been meaning to make this post for a literal 2 weeks, but thanks to school projects and starting a job I've had a hard time keeping up. I had my death metal deep dive this month so this post is going to be specifically metal focused, getting kind of tired of core. LESSGO
1. Welding Torture
Slam might not be everyone's cup of tea. By that I mean like 97% of Earth's population, and an especially smaller amount listens to older slam. But this shit is so sick. It doesn't really have the trademark slow bulldozing chugs of more contemporary stuff, and even the production sounds like it's still analogue. Instrumentally the EP sounds like it borrows a lot more from just straight up brutal death metal, especially with the way the bass is in the arrangement. That clacky placky type of tone isn't something modern slam is known for (even if imo it would sound way sicker if it was). Speaking of, the production is just absolutely awesome. Compared to the super fried digital stuff that was coming out at nearly the same time as this (not that it's bad) this sticks out very much. What early slam and brutal death metal really nailed was the super bright non compressed drums, it's such a cool and unique sound that I wish was done more. If you like angry but somewhat technical heavy shit this is your band. Awesome EP.
2. Carnivorous Voracity
Those song names are threateningly long. Carnivorous Voracity is a band I wanted to exist, and I finally found out they did. This EP in specific is basically the perfect intersection between slam, deathcore and techdeath. It's fucking INSANE. The vocals are INSANE. The guitarwork, is INSANE. The bass drops are SILLY AS FUCK. It's one of those cases where a band gives you exactly what you expect them to and want from them and it's so absolutely satisfying. While the production isn't really the best, I think the musicianship suffices. The technicality these guys play with is absolutely ferocious and the vocalist was doing growl gymnastics way before it was cool. His lows are so aggressive and present that you just can't not acknowledge it. And then as an aside the guitars do pinch harmonics every second bar and it basically becomes a precisely calculated cacophony. I love bands that sound extremely chaotic but actually hold it together really tightly. Effectively, this band RIPS.
3. Coathanger Abortion
Everything I said about the last band except times 200. It's seriously shocking how talented the musicians in the subgenre are considering the fact most of the songs and entire albums these bands put out are about killing people in different ways, especially women. The production on this album is really dark and reverby, thankfully not in an Incantation type of way. It's like if sonically Leprosy was on amphetamines and had gone through puberty three times in a row. The way they play choppy chugs makes them sound like a giant collective meat grinder. Only downside with them is that the songs are sometimes agregiously long, but I guess that comes with the territory and tendency that metal people have to overdo things (jus an observation, not an insult i swear). This specific sound to me is just mesmerising, it's really interesting to hear genres at the end of their creative peak and how they try and experiment and innovate. It's always so different from how it used to be at the start and the mid period and from whatever subgenre takes off afterwards, and in the case of brutal death metal the innovation was becoming heavy as fuck.
That does it from me on this post. Hopefully I have the time to do another one this month. New Cannibal Corpse is also good, check that out too.

music is underrated
Seriously, I've never seen anyone talk about music in modern witchcraft, and that's weird to me cuz I know most if not all of you pagans absolutely adore music. At least I do!
Plus, it has been like, primordial for witchcraft and religion in general since humans have been a thing. It connects people, helps achieve trance or specific emotions, gives you catharsis and is just perfect in every way.
So here's some help for implementing music in your practice if you're interested:
Listen to specific songs that will help you get in the right mood for the spell/ritual/sigil you wanna perform
Cast spells by dancing, create choreography-based spells
Meditate on a song that's important to you, ask why it's important, what emotions it gives you and why
Pay attention to the song you're listening, try to hear the instruments or beats in the back. I've noticed I can hear so many more "parts" of my songs after practicing Zen (not only after meditating, I mean as a permanent upgrade lol)
Compose magic songs/spells in song format
Compose spell lyrics for instrumental songs
Visualize an intention while singing with all your heart to a song that vibes with your intention
Put music in the background while doing your craft
I remember that I dreamt using a song for a spell, then I did and now every time I listen to it I get goosebumps and powerful feelings. I even feel that spell "activating" a bit even though I don't mean to (that's why we don't do hexes, kids! Jk, it was a good spell). I think I can even fully activate it again just by hearing the song if I want to, because it meant a lot to me even before I became pagan.
Seriously, mindfully using music and dance in your craft is really, really worth it.
