Thinking about DP x DC Jason Todd being a revenant again. Here's my scenario. Jason gets called that by some ghost. He's like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He's heard the term before but he doesn't know any actual lore. He googles it. He scrolls past the Leonardo DiCaprio bear movie. He opens the wiki. Sees the words "animated corpse" and gets a chill diwn his spine. He starts reading the first section.

He closes Wikipedia.

That night he has a nightmare that his family buried him, again, this time with precautions. He wakes up in his own grave, full of stones, too heavy to move, to scream.

just- Dmitri choosing your outfit when he's going out with you (or for other occasions, or even generally), and you're both loving it because it's casual yet intimate, and it's also a great act of love and affection because in order to dress somebody in a way that makes them comfortable and happy you have to know them so deeply that it's transcending.

I guess the ultimate thing that kills CF for me - or at least nudges it away from me saying I definitively like it - is just how much Edelgard is clearly written with the player in mind before she's written with her character in mind.

Because on all of the other routes, there's a power to Edelgard's presence. Even on BE, there's a sense that for as lonely as Edelgard might be, she still ultimately will do whatever it takes for her to get what she wants. Be that be killing her citizens (or otherwise letting them be killed), endangering her friends, assisting in kidnapping people, allowing Byleth to support her only when they have the Sword of the Creator, covering for TWS - no bar is too low for her to limbo under if doing so means she's even a step closer to her goals.

She's manipulative! She's deceitful! She doesn't care for the lives of her people! Even her friends are forfeit if they try to stand in her way! And this happens no matter how close you, the player, get to her, in the case of BE - C+ ain't stoppin' Remire, and going to the coronation ain't stopping the Holy Tomb.

And in the war phase, she is dominating the field. She has the Kingdom completely on the ropes, down to a few houses standing against Imperial rule, and the Alliance is stuck in neutrality - she may not be able to do much to it, but neither can they do anything to her (to say nothing of the Alliance houses who stand with her). She's far from the underdog in this race, and she shows off how threatening she can be.

CF? Her route?

She scweams at scawy rats. She gets embawwassed when you find her dwawings. She's just so wonewy, and she's just so gwad that you chose her. She somehow fails to capture Rhea, or frame Dimitri for regicide, and so now has to deal with that on the Kingdom's side of the war. But that doesn't stop Elly Welly-kins fwom twying to find her pwecious teacher, because you're just so important to her. She cwies and hugs you when you meet her in the Goddess Tower!! Because she missed you so much!!

It's like... Dimitri and Claude certainly show different sides of themselves on their respective routes. It's the whole point! You grow closer to them and thus see how they treat those close to them, as opposed to being the Kinda Neat Teacher they see run along every now and then. But, like... Claude doesn't become a blushing maiden whenever Byleth speaks with him on VW. Dimitri doesn't scream at scary rats and get called cute for it on AM. They don't get Basic Bitch Gap Moe Traits slapped onto them that are only ever shown to the player and only on their routes. Unlike Edelgard.

Dimitri's endearing trait is that he's this big huge dude who can bench-press forests and arm-wrestle god who still wants to learn to sew and who teaches kids to protect themselves and who buys candies for his friends. Claude's endearing trait is that he's this mastermind planner who has contingency and lie and obfuscation as three separate legal government names who still wants everyone to be safe and happy and hold hands and be friends.

Edelgard is strong, confident, and willing to do some of the shittiest things known to man for her goals. Her endearing trait is that her screams are cute. She's shy about her drawings of the player character. She blushes over the player potentially joking about having sex with her per her JPN version of her C support; you know, the one about how Byleth walks in on Edelgard muttering in her sleep from a nightmare about her tortured family? Perfect time to joke about fucking her! Dimitri and Claude's endearments are, well, endearing; Edelgard's are all straight up embarrassing for her.

Hell, even the smaller stuff is affected! Claude's passion for poisons and mushrooms are things he has no qualms about having others know about, despite how weird they are. Dimitri laughing at shitty jokes brings him no personal discomfort or embarrassment, despite just how loudly he laughs at them. They have traits to them that can easily be uwu worthy, and they don't care! Of the lords, only Edelgard does! Because, it feels like, the only way for a strong, resolute female character to come off as approachable is if she's knocked down a few pegs for specifically and only you, the player.

And that sucks ass! I'm sorry, but when I'm playing Edelgard's route I don't want to deal with her hiding herself away in her room for a month IN THE MIDDLE OF HER FUCKING WAR because she's just so embawwassed! It is so fucking insensitive that Edelgard is literally the only lord of the three who can have her trauma openly belittled at any point in the story by Byleth, all to have some cheap cutesy uwu moment about her fear of rats (calling her screaming in fear cute and INSISTING that it's really cute which is just. Fucking ew man)! Why can we fucking mock Edelgard's manner of speech during the MASSACRE OF REMIRE?

This shit doesn't happen to Claude or Dimitri! And saying "oh just don't pick those options then" is bullshit because no equivalent options exist for the male lords! It's piss-boilingly annoying that the second you choose to see things from the strong confident villainous ambitious female lord's perspective you can reduce her down to this bumbling moeblob just for you (sometimes unavoidably!) like!! Dude!

Reasons why I love Tan in episode 11:

He pushed Jin without hesitation.

He said this to Phi with his full fucking chest.

He threw Phi's ass under the biggest bus by notifying the entire group that he AND PHI made this plan.

Then he looked Phi straight in his face and told him he knew Phi wasn't loyal.

Tan has been very chill with these boys, but after learning about what happened to his brother, my man snapped and let these idiots know that he had nothing to lose.

If the show is trying to tell me that Tan has gone too far, then the show done fucked up the same way The Sign did.

Two AU ideas for DRDT, because i just listened the Butcher Vanity cover of J's VA.

Tw: Ed and canibalism, also Chapter 2 ending spoilers

Game Killer/Stopper Ace AU, where his attempt of attacking and breaking MonoTV is actually successful. The mastermind only has one spare of it and the data in broken MonoTV has way too many information that's important for them. Therefore, when Ace broke MonoTV, the game is temporarily paused until the mastermind gains access back to it's body to keep it running. While mastermind is scheming, Ace takes over the leadership of the group and divides them to two seperate positions: Guards and Lookers. Guards are those that'll guard the body of MonoTV and try to figure out its secrets; and Lookers are people that’ll look and search the academy throughly again for an escape route or hidden passage that might lead to mastermind or outside, whichever one happens the first. Daily, Ace not only manages the news/reports and problems from both of the positions, but also partakes in both activities (Aka he is the only person that looks for an exit/passageway AND partakes in MonoTV's "autopsy"/guarding in the entire class) to make sure nothing funny is happening. He's been known as a coward among the group and he knows that if the game starts again, he will certainly die. Ace needs to make sure that they can either bring down the mastermind or escape outside as quick as possible; he also tries his hardest to train everyone physically (because despite his weight, he is canonically stronger than majority of the group) and prepare them for a fight, just in case in the mastermind tries to get MonoTV back by attacking the Guards. While Ace knows he can't clean his reputation after killing Arei, he is not willing to let the chaos and distrust among them ruin the class more than it already have. Especially with whatever mindfuck David, Teruko, Veronika and Hu are going through right now. Because of the broken glass from punching MonoTV cutting his hand and fingers, he now has a horribly scarred hand and is way more confident and bold on leading the class to their survival. He'll make sure Arei's death will be the second to last one their group will have to suffer from, with the mastermind's own death being the last one.

Butcher Vanity J, where J is the mastermind. She has an eating disorder which she can only eat meat otherwise her body will refuse to function. She quickly learns that out of all meat types; the human meat is the healthiest, tastiest and easiest to get. Therefore, she sets a Killing Game to consume more corpses. Whenever a Trial ends, she eats the corpse of the blackened and victim behind closed doors.

Better Bones: CW List

Better Bones is not a project that aims to fix canon by making the Clans wholesome and unproblematic. Though there can be fun and kindness in it and my philosophy is an optimistic one, It's not an escapist fantasy. It is a story about semi-realistic cats of human intelligence in a violent, war-obsessed theocratic dictatorship, and how they attempt to change it over the years.

Clan Culture is flawed, that is on purpose. Addressing and changing this is what the story is about.

Please refer back to my main post, where it is explicitly stated that my goal is to "Address (Canon's) Problematic Elements." Not remove.

Better Bones contains themes and/or depictions of the following;

Physical and emotional abuse; Domestic, authoritative, and familial

Child abuse and inter-generational trauma

Kidnapping and indoctrination of children

Somewhat graphic medical discussion, such as abortion, wound infection, and the use of leeches and maggots

The killing and processing of small animals into food, including tanning and butchery

Semi-realistic cat behaviors, specifically marking things with urine

Ableism; both externalized and internalized. Sometimes this leads to death by violence or medical neglect, other times characters simply grapple with mistreatment.

Xenophobia; to a violent degree, including stochastic terrorism, hate crime, and discrimination

Politics; Authoritarianism, fascism, and liberalism as an enemy, discussion of dog whistles and ideology

"Redemption arcs" of certain people who did bad things

Graphic violence, including against innocent bystanders, through assault, poisoning, drowning, falling, being eaten alive by large fish and demigods, and occasionally attacking bulldozers

Animal abuse; Human beings harming cats on purpose and Clan cats generally being terrified of people

Clan cats, both villainous and culturally mislead, glorifying these things in-universe, not immediately staring at the camera and breaking character to tell you "This Is A Bad Thing!"

Keep in mind that you will encounter these topics while browsing this project. I would at minimum rate this project as PG-13, but PG-16 would be a more accurate bet.

I have sympathy for you if these are not topics you can handle. My project tackles very upsetting real-world issues and not everyone is looking for something challenging; that's understandable and there's no fault in that. I try to tag appropriately, and would never drop anything VERY gruesome without a warning, but I can't promise to catch everything. Please keep yourself safe.

There are other, softer projects out there run by cool people if this is not for you, and you can add #Better Bones AU to your tag filters and this project will not show up! But, I'm not responsible for your comfort with my art.
