I was relistening to Mutiny today, and the more I go back to it, the more I get stuck on the line near the beginning where Eurylochus is asking Odysseus to explain/deny what just happened

Every time I listen, it sounds less like a dare or a jab, and more and more like he is begging his friend to convince him that Scylla didn't just happen. He is *begging*. He's not angry right there, he's desperately reaching for the security of a captain and friend who can talk his way out of any problem, and he is begging Odysseus to make it better

But Odysseus can't. And he won't deny what he's done. Because even if it was to get him and the majority of the remaining men home, there's nothing he can say to justify not warning them ahead of time. So there's a mutiny. And then it's history.

Have you considered how the Odyssey would go in L&M?

I actually have! While its still in very very early development, I have started thinking about a Season 2 called Twists & Turns, which I think would combine the Odyssey and The Oresteia (to match the multi-character, many-plot line structure and pacing of L&M). I have a lot of ideas for it, especially since the Odyssey has so many monsters that would be so fun to design in a sci-fi style (I really want to design a cybernetic Scylla). I think the Odysseus storyline would start off in his airship, but after either the wind bag or the Laestrygonians the ship breaks, which sends the crew into the water to continue the story.

I also have ideas for other sequels/prequels, but I don’t have a strong enough grasp on the source material to fully develop them.

Wanted to do my own take on Scylla for the "Epic: The Musical"! For her design, I took inspiration from plesiosaurs like rhomaleosaurus along with the walking with dinosaurs’ Liopleurodon for an extra reference with both being massive sauropterygians.

the scylla song is so so good and also so wild because it is (imo) the true turning point in odysseus' sanity, when he starts turning on his own men to return home, and the lyrics/story really reflect that and basically foreshadows the rest of the story.

"leaving them feeling betrayed... breaking the bonds... no price we wont pay" -- odysseus begins to sacrifice the lives of his own crew, who all adored him and were relying on him to get them home to their own families

"eurylochus, light up six torches" -- sacrificing six of his men to scylla by making her aim for the torches, which he later does to the suitors, effectively becoming the monster scylla is just as she predicted ("we are the same you and i")

"we only care for ourselves" -- odysseus wants to get back to his family for HIMSELF. sure, he loves his son and wife, but his motives are ultimately selfish. he wants to get home for himself.

"drown in your sorrows and fears... bleed till you've run out of years" --- poseidon attacking him, leaving him bleeding out and drowning in the ocean after he'd just managed to outsmart charybdis

"give up your honour and faith" -- odysseus is (i think?) naked when he returns home and disguises himself as a beggar, even to the point of letting his dog die to keep up the disguise (again, i think... someone confirm/deny that for me), so that he can see what his kingdom has become. he gives up his honour to do this, and looses his faith in his people. he is also, as previously stated, the reason an entire army was killed, including his own brother, which is also pretty honour/faith-stripping

"live up your life as a wraith" -- he is the ghost of the man he used to be, extremely traumatised and also covered in sin. he literally went to hell.

"we must do what it takes to survive" -- this is pretty self explanatory.

Fun fact: I really really like Scylla ^^

I have this memory of myself at like... 20 years old, and I'm not really sure where I'm at in the moment, but I'm reading about her story. I've always felt bad for her, and reading about her made me feel so curious

When I listen to her song, I feel so intrigued. Of course, there's guilt for what I did to the crew. But even then, I could only focus on her. She was turned into a monster, like me. She only killed to survive. She didn't deserve to be turned into that
