OBSCURE HORROR GAME PROTAGONIST BRACKET
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Obscure Horror Game Protagonist Bracket, where the "obscure" in the name is modifying the word "protagonist" and not the word "game".
We believe we have, after a decent amount of deliberation, come up with a wide range of characters, ranging from "Just Normal Guys" to "Insane Torture Murderers" to "an apple", some from games that are fairly obscure themselves and some from games that are actually pretty well known, but we believe all these somewhat arbitrarily chosen characters have one thing in common: If you referred to them by name while talking to any given random person, we've determined there's at least a 60-70% chance they won't know who you're talking about. And they're horror game protagonists. More or less. They all have two things in common. Kind of.
Due to the nature of the premise, it is likely that there will be some situations where you may not have any idea who these people are. To compensate for this, descriptions of the characters including any notable traits will be included with each poll. There's no shame in deciding which one you like better on the spot if it comes down to that.
Additionally, we would like you to please be wary that due to the nature of this being about horror game characters, sensitive subject matter will be mentioned in the descriptions of many of the characters, as it's often unavoidable. Similarly, there will be spoilers for the storylines of the games brought up here, if that matters to you.
But without further ado...
OUR ROUND 1 MATCH-UPS:
Cynte (Endoparasitic) vs. Blake Langermann (Outlast 2)
Ellis Lynch (Blair Witch) vs. Murphy Pendleton (Silent Hill: Downpour)
Michael Tapp (Saw 2: Flesh and Blood (Xbox 360)) vs. Daniel Lamb (Manhunt 2)
Benjamin Oliver Walker (SCP: Containment Breach) vs. Andy the Apple (Andy's Apple Farm)
Foxtrot Unit 1 Commander Sanders (SCP: Nine-Tailed Fox) vs. Eriko Christy (Illbleed)
Clancy Jarvis (Resident Evil 7: Banned Footage) vs. Simon Jarrett (SOMA)
Justine Florbelle (Amnesia: Justine) vs. Thomas Smith (Neverending Nightmares)
David Hoover (The Crooked Man) vs. Arthur Hastings (We Happy Few)
Round one will begin on May 1st, 2023.

Hii! Can I please request some headcannons for the scp mobile task forces? ( Red Right Hand, Last to Fall, etc?). Like, if they were individual people, what would they be like?
Sorry if that doesn’t make sense 😅 let me know if any elaboration is needed!
I've been mulling this one over for a while. I suppose these can double as the head of operations of that Unit as well! In fact, I think that would make more sense, considering an entire force is usually needed for their operations :]
But please give me more of these I loved doing this!! I'd love to get into other organizations as well too!
MTF, humanized.
Red Right Hand - While strictly prohibited to O5 protective services, Red is extremely self-aware of herself and the environment. She is incredibly mindless and loyal, and will execute any orders given to her by the O5.
Maz-Hatters - Sporting a bright yellow hazmat suit, no one particularly knows what they look like, who they are, or even what they're called by. In this field, they are directly responsible for biological, chemical, and radiological hazards. Their words are muffled, and their actions can be a bit...erratic at times. But it's usually in the best interest of the situation.
Green Stags - Stag is deployed into nature-based environments to track down anomalies. He is dark-skinned, sports a thick country accent, and is quite old in age, with many scars littering across his body, as well as a missing arm. But no one ever questions his methods, no matter how outlandish they seem. He knows all the tricks in the books to track what he needs.
Nine Tailed Fox - A classic thirst trap look of a guy. With full swat gear, Fox has most scientists swooning on the brink of death. He's a savior, a fighter, and a strategist. He must be ready for anything to come his way during a breach. Although, he likes his team, he dissociates himself from others, knowing their death date could only be a day away. He's cold, heartless, and knows how to do his job.
See No Evil - A confident woman dressed in scientist garb, she wears scrambling goggles, and keeps an evil eye charm hanging from her neck. Her job is to address, investigate, and possibly contain cognito hazards and memetic agents. She's incredibly smart and always avoids eye contact.

File: Brightburn
SCP#: AEX
Code Name: Brightburn: Agent of Earth's Destruction.
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-AEX is contained in one of the lower levels of Site-AF. He is locked within an anomalous humanoid coffin reinforced with the same metal of the pod he came to earth on as a baby. Attached to the coffin is a Pygmalion Bio Editor Station designed to feed him, collect his waist through tubes, and collect DNA samples from his body. The machine will also be used to measure his growth through the years so that the coffin can be updated every time he has a growth spurt.
In the event of a growth spurt, SCP-AEX is to be sedated and taken out of the coffin. Foundation technical staff are to weld and alter the coffin so that it can fit his body. This process must be done within 4 hours as no sedative can keep SCP-AEX asleep for any longer. Commander Wells is to be present during this process as she is currently the only Foundation staff member that can stand toe to toe against SCP-AEX. Though as an added precaution Mobile Task Force Epsilon-11 "Nine-Tailed Fox" will also be present with shields and batons made of steel infused with the same metal to help combat against SCP-AEX.
Description: SCP-AEX is a humanoid anomaly that, despite his human appearance, is extraterrestrial in nature. Unfortunately, even after obtaining the technology within SCP-AEX's ship and extensive DNA testing, it is unknown where exactly SCP-AEX hails from. He is much more durable and stronger than the average human able to withstand an attack from steel blades and even the impact of continuous shots from an M134 Minigun. SCP-AEX also has numerous anomalous abilities like being able to manipulate the gravity around his body allowing him to fly without restrictions. His eyes can generate energy and they reflect through the iris of the eyes allowing him to generate concentrated lasers. These lasers are hot enough to burn through steel and vaporize flesh ease.
Surprisingly, SCP-AEX doesn't actually like cutting up with his laser eyes but instead like to ram through them while flying. Because nothing can hurt him, he can tear through metal and flesh easily leaving nothing but splats of blood. SCP-AEX doesn't like over relying on his powers and instead goes for stealth tactics. He doesn't do this out of caution but merely to mock his prey to show them how powerless they are. He normally only uses his laser vision when they have barricaded themselves form him using fortified metal doors and walls.
Though SCP-AEX's psychology seems to be of psychopathic nature, it's also a possibility that SCP-AEX was genetically made to be like this so that he could blend in and conquer the world. SCP-AEX claims his purpose was to "take the world" though for who and why is a question even he seems to have no answer too.
SCP-AEX was discovered in 2018 when a small series of unexplained disappearances and murderers were reported in the small town of [data expunged]. Foundation agents found the clues leading to a farmhouse in [data expunged], unfortunately the agents were spotted by SCP-AEX and slaughtered. The next day SCP-AEX crashed a plain into the farmhouse to coverup the evidence, but the Foundation had already gotten an ID of SCP-AEX from the body cameras on the Agents. After SCP-AEX was taken into local police custody to later be adopted by a local family. Mobile Task Force Alpha-9 "Last Hope" was assigned to his capture. Commander Wells and a few Agents she handpicked were the only ones assigned to the mission, she refused to allow anyone else to participate given how strong SCP-AEX was.
Because of her control over all forms of energy, Commander Wells was able to make SCP-AEX's eyes burn himself and incapacitate him by trapping him in a magnetic bubble. After his ship was found and shown to be able to harm him it was dismantled and used to reinforce the coffin he was later placed in. SCP-AEX's DNA is used to see if it's possible to create genetic mutations or Foundation medication to increase Foundation personal strength and maybe give MTF units his anomalous abilities. Unfortunately, this has been met with zero success; none-the-less, testing on SCP-AEX's DNA has continued to see where his origin is, how exactly his anomalous abilities work, and if they are even considered anomalous where he's form.

BEST OBSCURE HORROR GUY (neutral), ROUND 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SUMMARIES:
Foxtrot Unit 1 Commander Sanders (SCP: Nine-Tailed Fox) - Protagonist of the currently unreleased semi-official creator-sanctioned sequel to "SCP - Containment Breach." Commander Sanders leads Foxtrot Unit 1 into the SCP facility to clean up after the breach event caused by SCP-079. Sanders and his squad are eventually captured by SCP-106, where they become separated in the entity's pocket dimension. After escaping, Sanders loses access to his gear and must make his way to the surface using only what he can find among the chaos. Most notable trait: A canonical understanding and enjoyment of the events of Half-Life. Eriko Christy (Illbleed) - Head of the Horror Research Club, Eriko was raised in a traveling haunted house until the age of 6, which left her desensitized to horror. When she and her friends receive special invites to the horror amusement park Illbleed, with a 100 million dollar reward to anyone who can go through the entire park, she initially refuses to go, until her friends apparently disappear in the park. Eriko then goes to the park herself to investigate and rescue her friends -- the park being full of death traps with apparently over 100 people dying there per day. Most notable trait: Her father actually owns the park, and is a blue alien-looking thingy, making her technically non-human. That last part goes completely unaddressed.

I have now designed 5 Mobile Task Force shirts on my shop! Zeta-9 “Mole Rats,” Epsilon-11 “Nine-Tailed Fox,” Episilon-6 “Village Idiots,” Alpha-9 “Last Hope,” Beta-7 “Maz Hatters.” There are a LOT of MTFs. What team would you want to see done next? Credit to Sunnyclockwork @hisclockworkservants for the Mobile Task Force team logos these use. I’ve changed some details on the logos as to develop them more and add my own touches to them. Someday, I’d really like to totally revamp the logos for new patch designs.

Incident H4RP13-B:
On the ██/██,20██ Site-19 faced another containment breach, involving several Keter and Euclid anomalies. Dr. Jack James Bright was leading SCP-H4RP13 back to its cell from another test, the restrains over his shoulder when the entity suddenly stopped and refused to keep walking with the assistant director of personnel.
The level █ foundation official demanded the anomaly to keep moving, but it refused to comply. When he asked why it refused to cooperate, it refused to answer, even though several D-Class, guards and other researchers reported hearing it speak fluent English when alone in its cell.
The entity turned around and ran, forcing Dr. Bright to give it chase when the alarms went off, alerting personnel of SCP-076-2 breaking out of containment. Dr. Bright stopped for a moment as realization hit him. After he calmed down enough to speak, he said the following on record:
"I didn't understand what its deal was. I just knew it wouldn't for the love of 343 stop running. Then the sirens went off. I had to stop to gather my surroundings a bit. That's when it hit me. H4RP13 was running away from the direction of the breach."
This however didn't last long as the duo arrived to a dead end between their original path and a door that was out of order due to serious malfunctions, allowing 076-2 to catch up.
SCP-H4RP13 stepped forward with a growl shielding the personnel director, motive currently unknown. The two clashed, H4RP13 immediately impaled through its chest, forced to its knees. After the initial shock, it stood back up and attacked the violent humanoid once more, while changing strategy and attacking from a distance, then swooping in as 076-2 became stunned, chipping away at its resilience.
Based on the security footage, Dr. Bright was encased in an ice shield of sorts the whole time, leaving him mostly unharmed. Said ice shield was created by the lycanthrope itself, revealing its type blue properties on camera.
The battle however ended abruptly as 076-2 figured out H4RP13's strategy and struck again, disarming its lycantrophic challenger. The two stared at each other for approximately 5 minutes before 076-2's shock collar was set off by on-site security, paralyzing it long enough to be moved to an empty room and have the room flooded and 076-2 successfully recontained. SCP-H4RP13 passed soon after due to the severity of its injuries. Entity considered neutralized, prepared for autopsy.
Epsilon-11 arrived after the main perpetrator had already been dealt with and recontained the rest of the anomalies. The breach ended with 58% of Site-19 thrashed, ███ casualties and just as many critically injured.
Effective immediately:
-Object Class update: Keter to Neutralized
Update, ██/██/20██: SCP-H4RP13 began healing its wounds while dead. I was entrusted with carrying out the autopsy, but its minor injuries are healing rapidly on their own. Complete brain death checked and confirmed, outside impact negative. We should move it to the infirmary to see if it fully recovers. –Dr. ███████
Update, ██/██/20██: 10 days since H4RP13 was moved to the medical wing. Its injuries healed significantly on their own and its vitals returned. –Dr. R. Bates
Update, 23/██/20██: 14 days total and the entity awoke from death. Its immediate vocalization consisted of pained whines and whimpers. Administered 9 mg of morphine intravenously. Entity's pain reduced significantly. Current status: resting.
–Dr. R. Bates
