SCORPION/QUINTIS S4 WISH LIST:
Here is a list of thing I want to see happen on Scorpion in s4:
Things I want to see/know/hear about in S4:
QUINTIS/TOBY-HAPPY RELATED:
Quintis talking about the events of past year and/or talking about “when is the right time” aka proper conclusion to the Cd-baby plot with them talking about..things. And deciding when the right time would be, and what option they will choose (bio kid, adoption)
Quintis pregnancy plot or adoption plot (I would prefer a pregnancy plot...after the events of 3x07, but I’d also love an adoption story, which is still very fitting for them)* #ep403getstheballrollingkinda
If there is a Quintis pregnancy, I hope we don’t jump from “month 1″ to “month 9″ fast, but instead get to see the whole, or at least most of the, journey. because this plot gives opportunity for some pretty great comedy (grumpy, tough mechanic with a big belly putting everyone in their places who think a pregnant lady cannot work. a’la Brennan/Bones style + using Toby as an errands boy) + some sweet Quintis moments (Toby will go all out and do all that "sweet/annoying” stuff like talking to the belly, and reading to the baby, and so on...) And we’d get emotional plot...with her worrying that something could happen during childbirth (like it did with her mom), and worry about the genius/normal possibility, plus worrying about becoming parents... even if that was addressed already during the s3 Cd-baby plot...
If there is a Quintis baby, then I personally hope he/she will be a genius (even if they won’t know for a little while). Though two geniuses raising a “normal” would also make an interesting story, I’d love to see Quintis & The Team raising a genius & teaching him/her... their skills (like they’re doing with Ralph, though they started with him only at age 9...now we could start with age 9 days...)
If there is a Quintis baby, then unless they name him/her Marcus or Grace, they better come up with a great name. Also.. my vote still goes to baby girl, because the team needs more girls-power, and the team’s already growing a boy-genius (Ralph), so they need a girl-genius (Baby Quintis), too.
NEW! Since we know there will be a Quintis family plot (pregnancy or adoption...is the question...) and we know there have been several mentions of Toby’s gambling past, and since Happy’s emotional storyline lead to the Quintis wedding, then it’s only logical that it’ll be Toby’s emotional storyline thatll lead to a Quintis baby. And I hope that they’ll use of of these “dramatic” scenarious: a) have Collins be the threat (to pregnant Happy, to their newborn baby or their adopted kid); b) Have Collins play some more mind games and “drive” Toby to gambling/almost gambling...and we’d explore the addict storyline this way; c) have “Bruno” or someone from Toby’s past be a threat...demanding payment...now that both Quintis & TeamScorpion are extra broke + Quintis is planning to have a child. Making him just stressed or actually gamble.; d) Have there be some fertility issues or Quintis thinking this isn’t happening for them, but then happening for real (opposite of S3 Cd-baby plot: in s3 they were excited aboiut a baby that never was...in s they would then be unhappy (worried, anxious) about not having a baby, when there actually would be one... That’s as far as I want them to go with “fertility issues” for these two. Drama is loved by tv writers, and it looks great on screen, but 100% “no” is in my books not an option for these two. If I have one wish...it’s that the show would let them have also a bio kid...
If there is a Quintis baby... Allie could be the first “nanny”...until Patrick is out/back again. Or they could bring back Ray...again. ETA: Or expand Patty’s (Sly’s team-mate for his other job...as the Alderman) job description. Or Ada, who will be cured by then. (Ada could replace Happy in the field til she’s on maternity leave/stuck in the garage and/or be the babysitter for a while) Or someone else from the past.. Or the team could just stay in the Garage, to babysit the littlest genius, one member at a time (different team member in each ep/during each case...they’ve used this option a lot in s2 & s3 already...) Basically... if they wanted to..they could make it work storyline wise (and production wise...with working with small humans on set) The logistics, both for the fictional characters and the real world production team might be a lot to handle, but it can be done!
The Quintis place (that we will finally see Happy’s place/... now Quintis place/home) - that set has to be built for S4, and I want to see it...how they’ve combined their stuff, and what their home looks like after they’ve settled in. I just want to see Toby’s hat hanging on a coat-hook in the hallway, and their things “mixed” (Happy & her tools, Toby & his books) - their two personal styles combined, creating a new...”their” place... I cannot wait to see the set for their house/apartment.
Quintis “domestic” scene - not a “bedroom” scene as some mean it, but them just being home, casually - watching cop shows on tv together, reading books, playing board-games, building something, teaching each-other each others skill sets, just talking or bickering or “fighting” about little things (”no the picture goes on that wall” ...”no, it goes on THAT wall...”), waking up together (we gotta get confirmation if Happy is the little spoon or not...after 2x13 we gotta know)...
Toby carrying Happy to bed (or to the sofa), and covering her up with a blanket, after she’s fallen asleep
Happy taking care of a sick Toby/Toby taking care of a sick Happy
Quintis movie-nights (it’s been hinted that they’re both movie fans, and love watching tv shows, so...) - seeing them watch a movie/tv marathon...
Happy wearing Toby’s clothes (his Harvard-Tee, his hoodies... works both for pregnant Happy...whose clothes don’t fit her anymore, and for non-pregnant Happy ...who just likes “to feel him close” that way)
Quintis "You can leave your hat on” scene...where this song plays and/or Happy says this to Toby...before we cut to black (end of scene/ep). We know she secretly loves the hat, and we know they (both!) love to dress up for “alone time”, so... this is in character. #weneedaconfirmationabouthowHappyreallyfeelsaboutthehat #iloveyourhat #icanseehistupidhat
Quintis dancing to “Shiny Happy People” at their home/in the extra baby room/in the Garage/on the rooftop... recreating the 2x13 Patrick & Grace Quinn - Happy’s parents - scene from the VHS tape Happy watched. Bonus points if Happy is pregnant during this dance scene.
Quintis team-work during cases! Happy getting to show off her mechanic skills & Toby getting to show off his doctor skills. And vice versa/in reverse - Toby showing off what he’s learned from her & Happy showing off what shes learned from him. #ep405 #ep410
Quintis teaching each other their skills (a’la 1x13 deleted end scene style: Toby teaching Happy about noticing human behaviour -- like he did in 3x22 with that hand placement comment and medicine & Happy teaching Toby mechanics, buildings stuff, etc...)
The return of significant little things/presents - the dollhouse from 2x04 (that they worked on together in season 2), the rocking chair (from 3x06 that Toby “built” for Happy and their kid), the “attaboy” key-fob (that Happy gave Toby as a present in 3x11), the “Sparking Mike ” toy robot (that Toby gave Happy as a present), the “Toby Dick” framed picture (from 3x22)...among other things. I want to see all those items in the Quintis home...and their places in their home... Several can be used as decorating the “extra room” aka future baby Grace/Marcus Quinn-Curtis room. #ep407
Married Quintis being the same two adorable genius dorks, bickering, and being simply themselves... (confirming that simply signing some papers doesn’t mean that a person’s personality changes completely, and they still remain themselves, even if they do change, and adapt to each other more and more...) #everysingleepisode
Quintis still adapting to living together & being married. Fun storylines and scenes about them getting used to the “changes” in their lives. (They moved in together, officially, in ep 322, and got to cohabitate only for a month til their wedding day & the 3-week “deserted island” adventure aka their “honeymoon”... so it’s still kinda new for them...
Quintis honeymoon... a proper one. Not really seeing their honeymoon (they, and the whole team, really need a long vacation after the year of crazy events they’ve had...so 6 weeks off is a must...and good reason for a timejump on the show...) but seeing them leave for their vacation, and returning after... #idontthinkthiswillhappenforthem
Quintis duet! Quintis singing....together. Or one of them playing the piano/an intrument, and the other one singing... #kinda
Quintis high5-s, Quintis fist-bumps, Quintis foreheard/top-of-the-head kisses, Quintis hugs, Quintis kisses #LittleSweetQuintisMoments#401 #402
Quintis nicknames! More nicknames from Toby. But also from Happy! #getcreativewithnicknames #401 #402
Quintis Garage Rooftop scenes! Quintis/Team at Kovelsky’s scenes
Flashback to 2x13 rooftop cuddling in the tent (what happened after the ep ended)
Flashback to the moment when Quintis became official - the when, how... revealed in detail (either shown visually as a flashback, or revealed in words/by someone telling the story)
Quintis planting an oak tree (their tree, “a mighty love oak”) and/or tend to one they planted on their wedding day/during/after the honeymoon PS. If it’s not a topic in S3 finale/wedding ep, then definitely in s4, please
Toby’s “new” car! After his old blue convertible was blown up in last seasons premiere... did Happy fix it up, or did Toby already got a new car (or have they just carpooled/both drove Happy’s truck), or will he be getting a new car... will they be getting a new car (a “family car”) soon?
Perfect Quintis Christmas!
Quintis book-club! Toby reading two books at once (and Happy admiring the sight) and Happy reading a book and/or Toby/Happy both reading a book... #bookreadingdate #quietnightathomeorinthegarage
Quintis as the support team in the Garage (a la 3x08) - both Toby & Happy staying behind during a case, and being together in the Garage, communicating via comms with the others.
Toby’s new computer and mobile phone backgrounds/wallpapers to be shown. The old/usual “playing cards decks wallpaper” replaced with something else, possibly Happy/Quintis/team related.
A Valentine’s day episode! Quintis Valentines day!
Quintis anniversary! Quintis 1st wedding anniversary (May 2018....a year after their May 2017 wedding), Quintis 1st date/get together anniversary...
Happy (and the team) having to save Toby’s life during a case (kind of like Toby did in 2x13 in the South Pole, and/or the team did in 2x12 at the dam...but not like 2x06...where she kinda did already...)
Toby and his gambling past - Bruno & his debts (payment plan) story line brought back/continued and finished. Learn to identity of Bruno, and learn more about Toby’s debts etc. PS. If it’s not a topic in S3 finale/wedding ep, then definitely in s4, please
NEW! (added after s4 premiere) Quintis/TeamScorpion Vs Collins. He’ll be back...we all know it. And while I think he’ll go after Walt/Paige/Ralph...I kinda wish that maybe he’ll go after Happy (pregnant Happy) or Quintis kid... so we’d get a great emotional storyline. And see again the fierce Happy. Cause they’re all scared of Queen Happy...also Collins. She is a worthy opponent to him, and after 224 she would so extra scary if the bearded trickster tried to hurt her/her gamily again.
TEAM/OTHER CHARACTERS RELATED:
Sly and “Megan Dodd Pediatric Care Unit/Ward” - that plot was dropped too fast (no explanation given why & no mention of this plot or why it was “forgotten” in any of the interviews or dvd extras...or anywhere), with no resolution at the end of s2. One way to bring it back (after so much time, and make it seem natural) is simply to have it be related to Quintis baby - they visit the place when the baby is born (it’s obvious Quintis baby is gonna be born “in the middle of nowhere, during a mission”..but after that they will go to the hospital for a checkup, and it’d be a great time to “casually” mention MDPCW, and give “closure” to that “dropped” plot, with just one little scene)
Storyline for Sly! #ep401 #ep402 #ep403
Storyline for Cabe! #ep402 #ep403
Ada (Happy’s mechanic friend, Ada Pearce, from 3x18) to be mentioned or returning. Either we hear how Walt’s search for a donor match goes and how her life in the bubble/after getting out of the bubble has gone OR we actually get to see her again. Ada would be a perfect “replacement” on the team on the field while Happy is stuck in the Garage. As in: for the Happy/Quintis pregnancy plot (that is coming..in the future) Cause while Toby and others (as seen in 3x16, 3x14, etc) have picked up things from Happy’s skillset, it would be better to have a “mechanic” on the team during missions. Or just extra member of the team (like Tim was for a while - two federal agents instead of one) Or...she could be the nanny/babysitter.
More (mentions, at least) of the Mechan-Chicks! website and the mechanchiks and their fun adventures/teamwork. They helped fix Ada’s house after the 3x18 case/events. They must do similar projects..more often..now...
The return of old “fan fave” characters: Collins as the teams main opponent and the shows main villain, Ray #Ray-turn, Allie, Ada, Maya, Megan (in flashbacks...somehow), Patrick (Happy’s dad), Drew (Ralph’s dad), Walt’s parents, Patty (3x15) etc... #Patty403 #Allie403 #Ray405 #Richard405
Allie returning (since she obviously isn’t really a fan of working for Patel, then she might enjoy another job change), and she cold become the Scorpion “office assistant” or the (Quintis baby) nanny/babysitter while others are on missions.
The return of Mark Collins. Collins vs Cyclone (in whatever form, please) #ep401 #ep402 #
Team Scorpion VS Team Anti-Scorpion. The Team facing an enemy, who are geniuses & like them, only with bad intentions. Two teams of geniuses going against each other. The team meeting their match(es).
Grandpa/Dad Cabe & his kiddos (the team) scenes/moments/storylines....
More Ralph/Team, Ralph/Quintis, Ralph/Sly, Ralph/Walt...scenes and storylines.
Ferret Bueller - seen again, or his fate mentioned. #
A team origins episode (story) - how everyone met (in detail) We’ve gotten glimpses of the backstory and “how I met everyone” in past episodes - 1x02, 1x03, 1x10, 1x22, 3x23... but we don’t know all the details and haven’t really seen the “flashbacks” to the first meetings or the early days of the team...when they were still “building the company”
A case involving a baby/toddler/child that the team has to protect & take care of (babysit, take custody of during the case), and Quintis is tasked with looking after the kid. (a la Peraltiago in 4x16 with Terry’s kids) And this leads to them having the “babies” talk and/or be a test-run for their future (if it’s already conformed they’re going to be parents)
Cases with animals/living creatures (deer in 4x03 already confirmed). Unless they’re saving the case with scorpions for the shows series finale/last season, I hope to see also a case involving a scorpion...soon.
Happy building stuff! Happy making more presents to her family members (like she’s built stuff for Sly & “Megan” & Toby - Birdroni, photo phrames, comics humidifier, wedding band, keychain) & Toby “building” stuff... #ep402
The Curtis Clan - an episode/storyline focused on Toby and his family/parents - finally meeting his dad/mom/parents/family. He’s the last team members whose parent(s) we haven’t met. Or heard much about at all. PS. If it’s not a topic in S3 finale/wedding ep, then definitely in s4, please
The story behind Toby’s fedora/hat - when did it become his signature look, and the reasons behind it...etc
The story behind Toby’s “bracelet” - what’s the significance of it?
*Here’s one scenario for the Quintis pregnancy/baby plot (reveal) IN A SEPARATE POST
This is the first, very initial list. More things will be added to the list...with time.
PS. This list does not include anything about the shows lead ship/main couple... on purpose. Not because I don’t have thoughts on them (the Ralph, Walt, Paige family & dynamic... because I do), but because I’ve decided not to blog about this ship, hence leaving out anything related to their storylines. Also from this list.

This Week in BL
April 2021 Part 3
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Second Chance Ep 3 - this is proper YA, they are dealing with actual high school issues, picking uni, first crushes, online dating, etc... We even got a senior prom trope which almost never happens in Thai stuff (just the freshman uni competition variant). Standard plot pacing means PaperFah’s kiss was too early, might indicate we’re moving to uni in the second half of the series? Tropes included: let me feed you, hand hold, black & white striped shirt, floppy drunk & first kiss.
Y-Destiny Ep 3 - the first MaxNat ep. Such fun to see them playing different characters. This one is enemies to lovers, tutor/student, but it’s using the “poor little rich kid loose cannon” archetype. Nat is doing his best, but it’s leaving me cold. Lots of tropes tho: boyfriend’s closet, floppy drunk, pillow clutch, the loom & water bottle.
Lovely Writer Ep 8 - solid installment, good use of many tropes. I really like the leads and I’m glad there isn’t much side dish action, SibGene gave us: punish, touch your face, boyfriend claiming, kissing, sleep cuddling, symmetry, rooftop, cheek kiss, hand hold, and pillow clutch.
Call It What You Want Ep 3-4 - couldn’t find the subs, don’t really care, will watch if it crosses my radar, otherwise I’m just not into it.
Brothers Ep 11 - the “everyone wants Chol” show continues (but WHY?), he and Tri are cute together, and now I kinda just want Prab to end up with the twins. I’m confused by the teachers, but Boston showed up (from UWMA), and my boys KhunKaow got together (YES!), so I’m ultimately delighted with the episode.
Fish Upon The Sky Ep 2 - the makeover happened, and we go from cute with glasses and braces to cute without them. (I’m reminded of those 90′s Pygmalion teen movies where the girl has glasses + ponytail and then *GASP* does not and *GASP* she’s HOT. This was the BL version.) Meanwhile, writers better be careful with Pi, he’s getting too tsundere to like. Did you see they gave AJ a 2gether music intro & pick up line? Well, it’s actually his brother JJ who plays Ohm in 2g. I cackled. GMMTV - you so cheeky.
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
HIStory 4: Close To You (Taiwan) Ep 5 - half way point. My poor confused babies. It was a really sweet episode... if what happened before hadn’t happened in the way that it had. Also, these boys have a GREAT friendship but are probably the worst advice givers ever.
Most Peaceful Place (Vietnam) Ep 3 fin - so cute! Our boys confessed and got together. There was an adorable mutual kiss (I love me a mutual, like Ingredients). Afterwards, they actually seemed to communicate with each other about both sex and their relationship. OMG. How original for BL! This was the last episode, so the series is short, but I still enjoyed it very much. RECOMMENDED.
My Lascivious Boss (Vietnam) Ep 1-2 - oh boy this one is rough, we started out with homophobia child abuse and moved on to family drama + drunken dub-con one night stand. But production values and subs are better than normal for Vietnam (You Are My Boy levels) + our queer babies are out & proud + it’s higher heat + I’m weak. So I’m watching.
Word of Honor (China) Ep 25-27 - honestly not much happened, lots of back story. Things are looking dire for the ghosts unless they can turn the Scorpion (I LOVE HIM, he’s my precious deadly baby). Don’t know how they managed to make loosing a battle with an immortal sword god ex-friend cute... but they did. Did some calculations and at 36 eps, mathematically speaking, ep 30 will be the equivalent of a standard BL ep 11. Should I be scared for next week?
Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding (Korea) Ep 1-2 - it’s so effing adorbs, soft bois do old fashioned tropes like arranged marriage + evil stepsisters meets the more modern fake relationship + secret identity in a surprisingly comfortable mix. It launched with baby is a floppy drunk, forced proximity, performative I saw you feed him, and some fun gay panic. It’s a lot lighter and faster paced than I was expecting, but this is Korea so I don’t know why I’m surprised.
Stand Alones
K-pop band OnlyOneOf dropped a new MV that is basically BL bait, using many of the tropes we know and love. I promise I’m not trying to lure anyone into K-pop I just thought it was interesting how consciously they’re yaoi dipping.
Spin-off We Best Love Fighting Mr. 2nd, Shou Zhen | the Only Love Letter Once Written (SERIOUSLY WITH THE TITLES TAIWAN?) anyway there’s a something or other 25 minutes featuring Pei Shou Yi and his boy that aired Friday. It’s about 10 minutes of reboot footage with 15 min of new content, mostly set in the past. It entirely rests on Chih Tian Shih’s acting, fortunately for us he’s great. However, it doesn’t substantially change or add to these characters’ arcs from the finale of WBL season 2. I don’t know if there will be more or if this was just an extra footage fan service.
COLOR RUSH GOT ITS MOVIE!!! Okay this is almost the tipping point for me to get Viki Standard. It’s listed at 1:56 minutes long but the original series had only c.120 running time - that is a lot of new content. Although i was disappointed by To My Star’s movie I loved Wish You’s, so I am hoping Color Rush got Wish You level treatment. That said, I feel Color Rush the series is damn near perfect already, hard to improve on perfection.
Breaking News
Close Friend the series got an updated trailer featuring MaxNat (no subs) so if you like them in Y-Destiny or in Why R U get ready for them to play different characters again, this time for a sports romance segment. Like Y-Destiny, Close Friend looks to be another series of vignettes (Original trailer) coming April 22.
2gether the movie (Thai trailer) was intended release April 22 but is now postponed due to a surge in C19 cases in Thailand.
Tell the World I Love You, a Thai BL movie that was supposed to release last week, is similarly delayed.
My Ride has been postponed indefinitely with no airing date.
The Miracle of Teddy Bear got a teaser vid, no eng subs.
Gossip
Thai BL actors Nanon (Bad Buddy), Yoon (YYY), and Mark Siwat (LBC, Bite Me) have tested positive for C19. Press releases stated they’re fine, tho filming has paused fore their various projects, obvs. (No word on whether Nanon’s current project was Bad Buddy or not, although it seems likely given his recent Arm Share episode.)
Next Week Looks Like This:
Some shows may be listed later than actual air date for International accessibility reasons.
Upcoming 2021 BL master post here.
Links to watch are provided when possible, ask in a comment if I missed something.

She-Ra Character Names, in order from least to most ridiculous.
Listen. I love this show with my whole heart. And I know a lot of these names are unavoidable artifacts of the 80s show and you can’t hold that against them. But some of them are just hilariously bad, and in your heart you know that to be true.
Before we begin, special shout-out to Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio for having just normal person names. I can’t even include them on this list because they’re too normal. They won the Etheria name lottery. Congrats, guys. (Also this is only characters through Season 2 right now because that’s as far as I’ve gotten.)
So here’s 20 names from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, starting with the least ridiculous.
20. Micah. It’s unusual, sure, but you wouldn’t see this name on a classroom list and wonder what planet he’s from. Heck, I knew a Micah growing up. Extra points for being a “sparkly” name that fits as the father of someone named Glimmer.
19. Glimmer. As a name for a magical princess, this is perfect. It’s fun and pretty and has just the right amount of sparkle to it. It’s not “normal” but it’s not ridiculous.
18. Shadow Weaver. Loses points for being clearly more like a title than a name, but wins points for pure drama, so it evens out.
17. Madam Razz. Definitely has an 80s flavor, but Madam isn’t an inherently ridiculous title, and hey, Razz could totally be short for something normal, I guess.
16. Entrapta. Of the weirdly self-descriptive princess names, this is definitely the least stupid. Appealingly strange and not too on-the-nose. I mean, she could have been Robotica or something. This is much better.
15. Bow. As far as sound, this could be a totally normal name. Adding that W to the end costs it a lot points, though -- not only is he an archer named Bow ha-ha-get-it, but now it’s also the name of frilly things you put on a skirt. I can’t ignore that when evaluating name silliness.
14. Hordak. This is a pretty rad villain name, honestly. It’s got everything going for it, except the “Horde” link is a bit obvious.
13. Scorpia. The DRAMA of this name, my gosh. A little too dramatic, of course, but she is a cartoon villain. (Antagonist, at least. I can’t in any conscience call this darling girl a villain.) Minus points for belonging to a literal scorpion person.
12. Netossa. This is a silly self-descriptive on-the-nose princess name, but one so well-disguised the character herself had to point that out. Wish more of them were like that.
11. Swift Wind. Honestly, it’s the perfect name for the rainbow pegasus-unicorn steed of a magical transformation heroine. So perfect it makes me want to throw up a little, but you gotta hate the game, not the player.
10. Adora. This name has a lot going for it. It has a very natural name-like flow, thanks to its resemblance to perfectly normal names like Dora and Adele. But it has to lose points for the final result’s excessive... adorableness.
9. Angella. The only reason this one is so far down the list is because the character has literal angel wings. The name itself is actually a very nice balance of familiar and fantasy.
8. Huntara. There are worse ways to feminize Hunter, if you feel the absolute driving need to do so. But I just hate this name. I hate it. No, I will not be taking criticism
7. Mermista. We’re really getting into silly territory here. (But at least it’s not Mermaida.)
6. Spinnerella. Is it better or worse that this princess name references Cinderella?
5. Perfuma. Literally the only defense I can offer of this name is that it’s less obvious than Blossom.
4. Catra. It honestly pains me to put this name so far down the ridiculous scale, because the sound of it fits her so well. But she’s a cat-person named Catra. I can’t just let that pass.
3. Frosta. *groans*
2. Castaspella. You have no idea how hard it was to even type this name. Who came up with this and how can we punish them? Thank heaven the show calls her Casta 99% of the time.
1. She-Ra. I’ve noticed the show tends to pronounce this more like Sheera or even Shira, a move that does a lot to make it sound more natural and less absurd. I applaud this. We all should. Because how do any of us watch this show with a straight face? It’s called SHE-RA. Like, “raaahh!!” but with a SHE. It’s only a hair better than its brother-show, He-Man. This is killing me. But there’s nothing to be done. She-Ra is the foundation of the show, it’s the one name you can’t change. We just have to accept this. I need a drink.
#she-ra#she-ra and the princesses of power#spop#she ra#i say all of this with love okay#i would not change a thing about this glorious show

Ranger Rankings - Power Rangers RPM
Premise - 5
RPM is such a major departure from the preceding seasons. The post apocalyptic, Rangers on the back foot approach is really great, and it gives the whole season a totally different feel.
Character Dynamics - 4.5
This season really shines in this department, but it does it in subtle ways. Relationships evolve, characters grow closer, and it's not just a case of pairing everyone off and being done with it.
There's Scott's issues with his dad, the Dillon/Scott/Summer triangle, Doctor K and her becoming closer to everyone, Flynn and Gemma's little thing, Ziggy and Doctor K, Ziggy and Dillon...the list goes on. There's a lot of moving parts, and the show often looks at more than one per episode. It's refreshing, and it makes the show feel more mature.
It's nice not to have the Red Ranger as the main focus for a change too, you could argue that Dillon's the real main character, a bit like how Wes was the main character of Time Force even though Jen was the leader of the team.
Support character-wise, Doctor K was fantastic, one of the best mentors in ages. She's scathingly sarcastic, but with a gentleness and an almost childlike innocence underneath. Pairing her and Ziggy together was a great choice.
Scott's dad was alright, he had a bit more personality than the usual military commander characters, but not by much. I did appreciate the recurring military guys like Hicks and Vasquez - it made the whole Hybrid reveal mean a bit more at the end when we got to see actual people we'd seen through the season succumbing to Venjix, rather than it just being all randomers.
Sixth Ranger Arc - 2
Gem and Gemma are...problematic, if you ask me. I get that they're meant to be endearing, but I found them mostly just irritating, and the fact that no one questions the fact that they're clearly not mentally developed enough to be on the front lines of a battle, like at all, bugs me.
They've got a nice relationship with Doctor K, and I like that they're seeded before they turn up, but they suffer from the same kind of issue that a lot of the Sixth Rangers have recently, in that they turn up, join the team, and then fade into the background. I don't think Gem even has a spotlight, I couldn't tell you one thing about him that sets him apart from his sister, whereas Gemma at least has that one episode where she and Flynn team up on the Road Attack Zord.
Honestly, the best plot point for Gem and Gemma was when Venjix deleted them in the finale, which sounds mean, but it also showed that they were superfluous to the team - losing them was an emotional blow, but not one that really hurt the team dynamic at all.
Plot Development - 4
This is another great area for this season. While the fight against Venjix is the overarching plot, the show goes through phases where that's not even the biggest issue, like the Omega City arc, the Tenaya-7 redemption arc, and the flashback six episodes or so near the beginning of the series. Plus there are recurring plot points, like Ziggy and the Scorpions, that fade and come back later on, and it all builds to a really well done finale - I haven't felt that much adrenaline for non-Ranger battles since the Lightspeed Rescue finale.
Villains - 2.5
I know that Venjix is a computer virus, but could he be any blander? He just yells at people. His plans are basically all the same, and even when he gets a body of his own, he just doesn't...do anything. He has literally no personality, which I guess is the point, but it doesn't make for the best villains. Even King Mondo, also mechanical, had something to work with.
Things do look up near the end of the season when Kilobyte turns up, he adds some much needed dissension to the ranks, and the three part arc where Shifter goes rogue gave me good Frax vibes.
Easily the best part of the villain team was Tenaya - she had the sass, and the wherewithal to back it up. I do wish we got more than one episode of her being good before she got re-brainwashed again, but that's the same thing I said when they did the same thing with Astronema during In Space, so I should really be used to it by now.
Given how bland the villains are, it's a testament to how good the other characters are that this season's still really good.
Overall - 3.60
Hottest Ranger - There really was a lot to go on this season; I'm gunna give it to Dillon because he has the brooding bad boy thing and I'm weak, but Scott, Flynn, and even Ziggy had something going for them that kept them in the running.
Notable Episodes:
Doctor K - The best of the flashback episodes. Pulls triple duty by introducing Gem and Gemma, the truth behind Venjix, and explaining why Doctor K is the way she is.
The Dome Dolls - Birds of Prey, eat your heart out.
And...Action! - Not a particularly good episode, but remarkable in that it's so bizarre. The Rangers stay in character while explaining behind the scenes stuff, so it's like...Power Rangers filming Power Rangers. So weird.
Key To The Past/Beyond A Doubt/Control+Alt+Delete - Three part redemption arc with some big reveals, and I'm a sucker for a good villain face turn.
Danger And Destiny (Parts 1+2) - Because you can't be Power Rangers without an epic finale that's equal parts Mad Max and Battlestar Galactica, and has an absolutely brilliant way of getting rid of the villain of the season.

Season 9, Mission 4: Out of the Past
Heist
~
[birds twitter]
AMELIA SPENS: Okay team, let's go over this one more time. General Bakari has sent Abel a distress call from a remote Tunisian base, Red Scorpion, which is probably home to red fungus and definitely home to one Ernest Van Ark.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, despite the fact that you, you know, um, what was it? Oh yes, blew him up with a rocket launcher, Five! That's... [laughs] It's typical! My luck. We get Janine back safe, and oh, who pops up but the devil himself?
AMELIA SPENS: Bakari wants a team to sneak something out of Red Scorpion. Our hope is that it's a red fungus countermeasure. To get there, our team needs to infiltrate New Agadir, a city in the middle of the desert, while posing as Death's Hand, a mercenary group whose greatest hits include assassinating a blue chip CEO using a neurotoxin-tipped knitting needle and overthrowing at least three heads of state.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: This is all so exciting! Proper Mission Impossible stuff!
AMELIA SPENS: Peter, remind me why you brought the new person along. It's Frances, isn't it? From the Hebrides?
FRANCES DEMPSEY: I wanted to try a run. Janine said I could come because it's a low-danger assignment, and because I promised to stop asking to be on the Tunisia team if she let me. I overheard Sam talking about the mission.
AMELIA SPENS: Marvellous. Janine should add “make Sam keep a secret” to her bucket list. [sighs] At least you're not pestering me to let you go. I've already had to veto Jody's involvement. I need her here working with me to train runners on McShell tower protocol.
PETER LYNNE: [laughs] I bet she was thrilled about that.
AMELIA SPENS: Anyway, our problem is getting a team to Tunisia. The information in Bakari's transmission enabled us to contact the Maghreb Protectorate, a government which operates in what used to be parts of Tunisia, Libya, and Algeria.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Another government, that's incredible!
AMELIA SPENS: Yes, well, they're no use to us yet. They have no jurisdiction over New Agadir, and besides, our governments do not yet trust each other enough for them to provide assistance. Our team can't risk crossing Europe - too many unknowns - and our few ships are all either exploring or acting as repeater stations for overseas agents - too far out to be useful.
All we have left are small coastal merchants. I've found one scow captain willing to take people to Tunisia, but he's cautious. He wants the latest nautical charts. Pre-apocalypse, obviously. Not a lot of hydrographic surveys since Z-Day. You're approaching the London home of Horatio Brewer, famous British investor. Should have what we want.
PETER LYNNE: Are we sure about that, Amelia?
AMELIA SPENS: Fairly. Mr. Brewer was a keen yachtsman. Old Ministry intel says he planned to escape Z-Day by sailing to a second home on the Tunisian coast. Had all the prep work done, then his neighborhood turned gray. We think zoms got him, but he was keeping his preparation safe in a basement vault.
PETER LYNNE: Great. So basically, we're looting a dead man's travel plans. Lovely. Um, see that street across the park, Five? That'll be his, so better hurry while it's still light out. Come on, everybody. Run!
~
[birds twitter]
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Wow, this is a classy street. Look at the mansions. That one's got ivory cherubs carved over the gates.
PETER LYNNE: Neighborhood's in pretty awful condition, though. You've got overgrown gardens, smashed windows. No sign of V-types though, thank God. Dearg made me a prototype one-man burn cube, Five, sewn right into my chest. Anti-P-type measure. Got the trigger, but not massively eager to try it.
AMELIA SPENS: Maybe not, but it's the only reason I'm letting you near Tunisia.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: So Amelia, who exactly are these Death’s Hands people? Will they be tough to impersonate?
PETER LYNNE: Frances...
AMELIA SPENS: Oh, they're a nasty bunch. Former special ops, freelance since Z-Day. Bakari says they've been traveling the world as hired guns. Their rep gets them a lot of private security gigs. He's given us contact details for the real team, so we can lure them out of our operation’s way.
PETER LYNNE: Frankly, I don't think we should be trusting Bakari. This whole thing is probably a trap, which is why, Frances, Janine said that you can't – [zombies moan] Oh, God damn it!
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Uh, isn't that the place we want? Big Georgian house covered in ivy?
PETER LYNNE: Well, Amelia, there's a horde of zoms milling outside Brewer's house, so we can't make it to the entrance.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Well, we could gain entry by the house next door. Look at the big white mansion. Its roof's half collapsed, sloping into the road. We could clamber across it, jump to Brewer's roof, and get in through his attic window.
AMELIA SPENS: You know Peter, I'm warming to the new blood. Quickly then, off you go. I've got the scow captain waiting on tenterhooks. I need this deal closed ASAP. Run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Amelia, we um, we got in through the attic window, followed a ladder leading deeper into the house. Now we've found a sort of private antique collection? So we're in a carpeted hall full of artifacts in glass cases.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: They've got plaques. That's a Roman bust, Celtic coins, an Egyptian amulet. That's a Carthaginian pot from Tunisia. Shouldn't these be in a museum?
AMELIA SPENS: Ah, well, Mr. Brewer was a rather avid black market trader, made a fortune trafficking plundered historical artifacts. Actually, it might make a good impression if our little expedition returns some stolen goods. Grab the Carthaginian pot, Peter.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, burglary with Amelia, just like old times. So let's see. It's a classic. We've got the pot on the pedestal, so if I just lift its case - [alarm blares] Ah. I honestly didn't think the alarm battery would have lasted this long. Um, Five, grab that pot, would you?
[zombies moan]
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Uh, guys, apparently there are zoms in the house too, coming up the stairs behind Five. Six big ones in dark suits.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, that'll be Brewer's former home security. Alarm's got their attention. Hello! Still on the job, eh, boys?
AMELIA SPENS: Wish I could find staff that dedicated. No need to waste rounds, blueprint says there's a master bedroom down the corridor on your left. Brewer always left a spare key in the lock for his mistress. If you can lure the zombies in, you can trap them there. Run!
~
FRANCES DEMSPEY: Keep going, Five, there's the door past the amphora vases. God, how big is this house?
AMELIA SPENS: It was originally five smaller houses that were joined together behind a Georgian facade. Brewer felt he needed the space.
[door creaks open, floor creaks]
PETER LYNNE: Amelia, we're in the bedroom. There's a – ooh, four-poster bed, lovely. Uh, photos of Brewer and his family. Nice mustache. It's very Howard Hughesian. Um, Frances, you okay?
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Zombies! I forgot how scary they are up close. Didn't have them on Dearg. I'm actually shaking.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, uh, oh yeah, of course. No no no, um, it's okay, Frances. See, so the key was in the door and um, here's what we're gonna do. We're all going to get behind the bed. This room's really big, so when the zoms come at us, we'll then be able to circle around and lock them all in.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: The house isn't in the best structural condition. There are big cracks in the walls, and that creaking probably means the floor is compromised. If any more bodies start stomping in here -
[zombies growl]
PETER LYNNE: See, there are the zoms and they're... coming straight over the bed, so run for the - ! No, no, no! [shouts]
[floor collapses, glass shatters, PETER and FRANCES cough]
AMELIA SPENS: Peter, Five? What happened?
FRANCES DEMSPEY: The floor gave way under the bed! [coughs] The zoms were too much weight. It just smashed down through the house, took the zoms with it.
[house creaks]
PETER LYNNE: This house is definitely unstable. Yep, uh, sounds like the whole place is coming down.
AMELIA SPENS: If you follow the corridor outside the bedroom, you'll find stairs. Take them down to the basement. It's a reinforced garage, should remain intact if the house collapses. Plus, it's where that vault is. Hurry up, you don't have long to grab those charts, and they're absolutely vital.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, also um, there's a horde of zombies chasing us. Come on, run!
~
[zombies moan, house creaks]
PETER LYNNE: Yep, there's the stairs, Five. Straight down, down you go.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: The chandeliers overhead are really shaking. Five, look out!
[chandelier falls, glass shatters]
PETER LYNNE: [laughs] That was close! Chandelier smashed right through the stairs. Could have done without the glass shards in my face, to be perfectly honest. Um, edge around the hole it's left in the stairs. [house creaks, zombies moan] Oh, fantastic. Amelia, we just passed the ground floor and I can hear more zombies barging into the house. So that'll be the horde from outside, attracted to all the noise.
AMELIA SPENS: Just keep following the stairs down. There are exits in the basement, but you have to reach the vault first. Run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Yep, yep, yep. Five, close the door, close the door! [door slams shut] Oh, good. Amelia, we've made it. We're in the basement garage, and the stairwell’s collapsed behind us. Ooh, this is a huge concrete car park. There's tons of fancy cars. There's Bentleys, BMWs... a Model T? All right, just, could you give me a minute, Five? I've just got to pick some chandelier out of my face and eyes.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: That's amazing. Your wounds, the way they're healing. Enhanced cell regeneration? The scientists on Dearg talked about it. [gasps] This is what Van Ark did to you!
PETER LYNNE: Yes, it is. Not really looking forward to meeting him again. Rather pull my kidneys out, honestly. But Janine is not leaving me behind this time. I just got her back and I won't lose her again.
FRANCES DEMSPEY: Dearg was his, you know. I was trapped there for ages. If you're going to a Van Ark lab, I can help. And honestly, I can't stay in Abel. It's funny, when we got security fixed at Dearg, first place I wanted to see was where Alice lived. But being there... a lot of older runners, they look at me, they see her. It's hard.
That's why I really came today. I needed to get out. And I guess I started to feel... if I was going to be her ghost, I might as well run, like she did. I don't want to be a ghost, Peter, and I don't want to go back to Dearg. I want to see the world, find out where I fit in.
AMELIA SPENS: People, you should get moving. That wasn't the only staircase leading to the basement.
PETER LYNNE: Over there, Five, look. It's built into the concrete wall, huge round metal door. That looks like a vault to me. Come on, run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Amelia, we're at the vault door. Here's the C-4. Do the honors, Five. [explosion] [coughs] Okay. Okay, right. Uh, vault is a big gray room with shelves, lots of shelves. Uh, model yachts, dusty piles of... ooh, gold. Five, Frances, look for those charts.
[paper rustles]
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Hey look, found a massive file on a shelf titled Inventory. It's an index of Brewer’s deals and trade contacts. There's a whole chapter on Tunisia.
PETER LYNNE: [laughs] Gotcha! There's tons of nautical charts on this desk under the sextant. [dragging footsteps] Uh, what was that sound? Five, could you go and check behind the shelf of canned food? [zombie groans] Oh, good. Hello! Amelia, we've found Brewer. Looks like he locked himself in here after he'd been bitten, entombed with his wealth like a rubbish pharaoh.
[laughs] Oh good, we've also got a zombie wife and two zombie children in the shadows. Welcome, everyone. He's taken his whole family down with him. [more zombies growl] And that is going to be the rest of the zombies in the garage. So Five, Frances, we're gonna move towards the door. Need an exit now, Amelia.
AMELIA SPENS: There's a ramp on the west end of the car park, leads up to the surface. The shutters open from inside. Hurry, get the charts to safety, run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Okay Five, Frances, I think we've lost the zoms. Street looks clear behind us.
AMELIA SPENS: Well, I'd call that a success. Five even kept the Carthaginian pot. Now we've got the charts, I can have people heading to Tunisia in days.
PETER LYNNE: Janine's finalized the team. It's her, me, Five, Sam, Maxine, and uh, computer expert. Look, I-I am sorry Frances, uh, but honestly, you are safer here. We're going a long way from home, and trust me, Van Ark isn't to be taken lightly.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Wait a second, look at this. The folder I took, it's full of photos, Brewer logging artifacts he traded. Look at this Roman mosaic from Tunisia, the symbol in the corner.
PETER LYNNE: That is the endless circle from Mor Island.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: That's not all. Brewer's notes say he sold the mosaic to a military base code-named Red Scorpion in Tunisia before Z-Day. He says the commander of the Red Scorpion base scared him, told him not to record any names. Whatever that place is, it's definitely connected to the fungus, and they've known about it since way before we have.

MLP FIM Finale Rankings from Best to Worst
Since I did my ranking list for the best to worst MLP premieres I had to do the finales. These are my own opinions from what I watched and how I liked them.
*The Ending of The End and The Last Problem count as one finale since it premiered as a 90 minute finale on Discovery Family as “three parts”*
1. Twilight’s Kingdom- 10/10
Hands down the best season finale of the entire series. The way the episodes were playing out and the visuals and the narrative, I honestly think this was supposed to be the series finale (despite me knowing the Season 3 was initially supposed to be the final season). This finale doesn’t feel rushed and has a good story behind it while concluding the best arc in the series. It felt like the crew went all out on this finale compared to others. We get introduced to Tirek and he posed a legit threat and practically won. Even I have to agree with him that the Mane 6 unlocking the Rainbow Power and Scorpion's Medallion being Twilight’s key was pure luck. I wasn’t disappointed in Discord betraying everyone because he was still on the fence to begin with, he only got “reformed” towards the end of Season 3 and he was only in 1 stand alone episode besides the premiere and the finale both of which were his fault but after Tirek betrayed him he was GENUINELY sorry for his actions and was even remorseful. Overall, I thought the finale was excellent for the good pacing, especially action, and Discord’ redemption.
2. A Canterlot Wedding- 9.5/10
A Canterlot Wedding despite taking notes out of The Little Mermaid was really fun and enjoyable. The songs were great. This Day Aria to this day is still one of my favorite MLP songs (oddly enough the villain songs following are good except one). Cadence, Shining Armor were great characters and I honestly wish that we got more development from both of them. And last but not least Chrysalis. Her best portrayal was in this two parter. She played everyone easily and nearly won. The only thing that did her in was only Twilight. Personality wise she was hammy, evil, fun and her reveal was genuinely terrifying. Overall, A Canterlot Wedding is a two parter that I’d definitely sit through again and enjoy it.
3. Magical Mystery Cure- 9/10
Magical Mystery Cure was a fun one to watch. Even though I felt that a few songs could’ve been cut out (Morning in Ponyville, Behold Princess Twilight) the songs were all good. Celestia’s Ballad made me emotional, but Find a Way is my favorite of all the songs. As for the story itself, it was interesting to see the Mane 5 with each other’s cutie marks and witnessing how they’d each tackle each other’s destinies...even though they’re naturally bad at them. I also liked how Twilight helped the others by fixing their destinies and as a reward she figured out her own destiny. It wasn’t as stakes heavy as future finales but it was a fun watch.
4. The Best Night Ever- 9/10
For the first finale out of nine, The Best Night Ever was FUN! I’d watch this episode again and again and I’d laugh every single time. “At The Gala” was a good song. But the best part was easily how everything went from decent to completely wrong within the span of twenty minutes. I haven’t seen this episode in years but somehow I remember exactly what goes down from start to finish. I liked the moral (at the time) that everything doesn’t have to be perfect or go exactly how you wanted or planned but as long as you’re with your friends you’ll be ok. I liked how the moral was grounded into the episode. But yeah, this episode was loads of fun and it wasn’t stake heavy. No bad guys. No threat to Equestria. No needing the Elements of Harmony. Just seven friends trying to enjoy a nice night at a party but things go 0 to 100 real quick and hjinks ensue. That’s it. And it was perfect!
5. Shadow Play- 6/10
Shadow Play is decent. There were a few things I liked and a few things I didn’t like.
I liked all of the Pillars. Yes, I even enjoyed Starswirl even though he was a grump the majority of the time. I liked the interactions with the Pillars and each of the Mane 5. I LOVED the design of The Pony of Shadows however I didn’t really care for Stygian...mostly because he didn’t really appear until the second half...of the second half of the two parter.
Originally I felt sympathy for Stygian but then I watched it a second time and both him and The Pillars were in the wrong: Stygian for stealing the artifacts and the Pillars for outright banishing him without question. This could’ve been avoided with simple communication.
I cared more for Stygian in the comics since he got more of a fleshed out backstory. I loved the Sirens cameo. As far as characters go, everyone was fine...except for Starlight. She had to constantly remind everyone of how bad and the events of The Cutie Remark which got on my nerves a lot. You were bad, we get it, that was two seasons ago. But my real issue is the Tree of Harmony being created by the Pillars. Yeah, no thanks. In my eyes, the Tree and Elements were a mysterious crystalized tree in the Everfree Forest and nothing more. You can take that part out and everything about the Tree is still the same. Keep it’s sentience, have it be a self defense living being. I didn’t need that.
I think the overall issue is that the finale and the second half of the season is supposed to be an “arc” like Season 4 but it doesn’t work. It didn’t have a build up like Season 4 did. Sure, they mentioned the other five pillars but they were mainly recollected from the Mane 5 as stories, but that’s it. It tries to be a heavy stakes finale but it doesn’t work.
But once again...Shadow Play was decent.
6. The Ending of The End- 4.5/10
Now I know, this isn’t technically isn’t the series finale because of The Last Problem but it’s the finale of the two parters and compared to others it was very underwhelming. It was nice seeing old time characters come back as refrences but it was underwhelming compared to the finales above...and two of those finales didn’t even have stakes that bad. I didn’t like the Season 9 arc overall and because the twist affected Season 9 in it’s entirety it was bad. I’ll just say that I didn’t like the Grogar twist at all but I got into that in my review. I say that this was underwhelming because the action was bland and didn’t amount to anything and there weren’t really heavy stakes and I didn’t care for the villains and wished that Grogar was the big bad villain.
7. School Raze- 4/10
I’ll give School Raze this...at least it was refreshing to see a non sympathetic villain. But that’s all I’m giving it. The writer’s chose to make a plot twist (that got spoiled by early leaks) by having a child be a villain. And said child actually gets punished...as opposed to two antagonists that nearly did worse things to Equestria but got reformed and friendship. Now don’t get me wrong she deserved it but it could’ve been less controversy if she was an adult. But at first I thought she was fine but on my second viewing...she didn’t really need to exist. Chrysalis could’ve been Cozy Glow the entire time and could’ve been a real threat and it would’ve made sense. But this finale was also meh.
8. The Cutie Remark- 2/10
I’m making this one quick. The best part of the episodes were the alternate timelines. Nightmare Moon easily has the best timeline in my opnion. It was nice seeing previous villains again and where they’re winning. Spike was a good supporting crutch for Twilight during the stuff that she went through. Everything with Starlight was GARBAGE! No I didn’t like that Starlight got reformed just like that, she damn well deserved a punishment for what she did. Heck, no other villain even came close to what she pulled on Twilight. And her reasoning for doing this and her whole cutie mark society is because her friend saved her from falling books by levitating them and that’s how Starlight turned so bitter to do what she did. That’s it, I’m not talking about this anymore. This WAS going to be my least favorite but the alternate timelines were the saving grace and that the finale in S6 is worse.
2023 Look Back: The Cutie Remark doesn’t really serve as a finale when I looked back on it. I had to ask myself: What is this finale concluding? Starlight? No, was only a premiere antagonist and had basic cameos in the background that people could’ve missed. Not really conclusive. The Cutie Map? No, none of the Mane 6 get called by the map and it even gets broken thanks to Starlight so that can’t be it. Cutie marks in general? Yes, there was an overall theme this season about cutie marks, but the finale didn’t really tie any of that together. The closest I could see of conclusion was...accomplishment.
Slice of Life was the 100th episode of the show by that point and was celebrated by being a background pony episode
Crusaders of the Lost Mark was the accomplishment of the CMC getting their cutie marks
Cadence and Shining Armor decide to have a baby
Luna lets go of Nightmare Moon for good
The Cutie Remark indirectly has the potential failures of the Mane 6 beating all the previous villains and how much they matter to Equestria
9. To Where And Back Again- 1/10
I did enjoy Trixie, Discord, and Throax. But everything else was a huge mess. The biggest issue is obviously shafting everyone so that Starlight can be the hero. This should’ve been Spike’s finale not Starlight’s. He was the one who befriended Thorax not Starlight. Chrysalis got the Celestia treatment where she just sits on her throne and lets her minions do all the work instead of actively getting out there and posing a threat like she did in S2 and her S5 alternate self. And you have the most powerful ponies in Equestria...and none of them capture her. Yeah, I don’t have the energy for this one. Too many bad memories.
But these are my rankings for the MLP finales.

HBO Max New Releases: May 2021
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Do not adjust your WiFi settings. No, you are not experiencing a severe case of Deja Streaming-vu. HBO Max’s list of new releases for May 2021 are indeed highlighted by two very recent WarnerMedia hits.
For starters, Tenet finally makes its long-awaited HBO Max this month. Mark your calendars as May 1 is the day that you can finally watch Christopher Nolan’s latest cerebral thriller. Of course, Tenet already had its theatrical release, but obviously that was not really an option for many of us. In addition to Tenet, Wonder Woman 1984 makes its triumphant return to HBO Max this month on May 13. The Wonder Woman sequel already premiered on HBO Max this past December, now it’s getting a second run on the streamer.
In terms of newer originals, May is relatively light for HBO Max. The Jean Smart-starring comedy Hacks premieres on May 13. The latest Adventure Time: Distant Lands special arrives on May 20. May also contains two prominent finales with The Nevers closing out part 1 of its first season on May 15 and Mare of Easttown wrapping up its case on May 30.
It’s also not a big month for Warner Bros. theatrical releases. The only one to speak of is Those Who Wish Me Dead on May 14. Thankfully that will be augmented by some library titles on May 1 including The Interview, Jackie Brown, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Here is everything else to expect in May 2021.

Painting Per Episode Master List
I’m painting a picture per episode of Supernatural to improve my digital painting skills! Each painting uses a screencap as a reference. I’ll add links to paintings for each episode as I complete them.
The reference screencap gets posted with each painting over on my Twitter account, and I make step by step gifs of my painting process for each episode as well.
Enjoying my work? Please consider supporting me on Patreon. It’s a “pledge any amount you want” type of situation, and I’m jobless at the moment, so I appreciate it very, very much. ♥ For one-time tips, see also: buy me a Ko-Fi?

This Week in BL
April 2021 Part 4
it’s my birthday week! *raises a glass of pink milk*
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Second Chance Ep 4 - oh noes my babies are all so sad! Teen angst for the win. Tropes included: crying in shower, a very significant hand hold, & striped shirts. (At this point over half the cast has been in stripes.)
Love Machine Ep 1 - not gonna lie, I barely made it through the first half, this is a short run LOW budget experimental web series and it’s not good. Dropped.
Lovely Writer Ep 9 - I like it when LW gets serious because there are fewer dumb sound effects, but oof Aey, poor baby. How many Aeys have I known over the years? Rejected, broken, angry, lonely, and lashing out. On a different note, I haven’t see the “sex drug made us do it” plot device since 1980s Johanna Lindsey. Props to that cocktail rearing its ugly head. (yeh yeh) ZOMBIE TROPE ALERT. (Is this the point where I remind the world at a-play doesn’t have to hurt? Well, it doesn’t! Toys, prep, and lube people. Sheesh.) Anygay, zombie trope is put safely back underground. Please don’t let it rise again? (I KNOW, I’ll stop now.) So this was a rough episode, especially the back end. (Okay now I’ll REALLY stop.) Seriously tho, BL doesn’t do a massive coming out family drama scene often. I liked LW’s handling of this one. Hard to watch but compelling.
Close Friend Ep 1 (OhmFluke) - very cute snapshot into a LTR featuring an overworked music producer and his student BF. That’s the chassis for this whole series, each one has to do with the song & is a portrayal of that song’s message. Essentially, the theme of this one was remembering to make time for your partner. I enjoyed that. OhmFluke gave us easy casual familiar affection and a kiss, but no BL tropes, just romance.
Fish Upon The Sky Ep 3 - Pi is a total spazz & the ghost story bit was... well, it was something wasn’t it? Lots of tropes: fixing his clothes, wound tending, drag baby around, piggyback, head in lap, hand hold, and ending on a drunk kiss. I just noticed Pi uses guu/mueng with Mork, but Mork’s a year older. (So I have a new entry onto the linguistic brats list.) So rude and presumptuous. Also I gotta say this, don’t wear watches when you’re working on a cadaver, mmky boys?
Y-Destiny Ep 4 - look MaxNat have great chemistry, this ep had loads of great tropes (e.g. cheek kiss, rooftop, public claiming via phone), it’s not their fault I’m just not wild about these characters. I do like Nuea’s wanna-be idol wardrobe though. And Sun is sporting the red bag version of Tharn’s black bag that I wanted so bad in TT2. (I wonder if I can score a knock off when I’m over there?) Regardless, I basically grinned all the way through this installment, so that’s another thumbs up from me for Y-Destiny. Who knew I’d come around? Man would I love to see these two get their own series.
Brothers Ep 12 - teacher/student exposed! But the power of boys on phones will overcome all. No KhunKaow for me, so of course I found this ep tragically disappointing.
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
HIStory 4: Close To You (Taiwan) Ep 6 - MuRen is officially a yaoi manga character in the flesh. H4′s outright mockery/subversion of tropes “don’t touch him he’s mine,” + “touch my lip & think of kissing” makes the fact that other (way more damaging) tropes are being blithely utilized without critique almost - dare i say it? - insulting. YongJie is trash but I’m the one who feels like trash because I want to forgive him. How aptly abusive & dysfunctional we all are. I don’t know whether to applaud H4 or start drinking. (Maybe this is the show I should invent a cocktail for? Who am I kidding? This is totally a jello shots show.)
Friend or Lover (Taiwan) Ep 2 - I thought this was only a microfilm but turns out it’s a web series. It’s cute. I’m enjoying it.
My Lascivious Boss (Vietnam) Ep 3 - subs take a while to drop but it’s still better than average. I like a secret identity trope, I love a grumpy/sunshine pairing, and the side couple is great but this ep was slow. With only 6 total (I assume) they better get the main couple together next ep or the improved quality of this series will be sacrificed on the alter of pacing issues.
Word of Honor (China) Ep 28-30 - slowed down to focus on bad guys (yawn...ooo Scorpion...yawn again). Then baby gets kidnapped, other baby goes crazy, and old friends turn up. We end on DOOM because mathematically this was an episode 11. All boxes checked.
Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding (Korea) Ep 3-4 - how is this show SO DAMN CUTE & weirdly wholesome at the same time? Another one of those: Will Korea resolve this satisfactorily in 4 short eps? But I seem to say that half way through every Korean BL. These days, I have complete faith. Warm fuzzies for everyone.
Stand Alones
Color Rush movie is the same as the series. There is a stinger at the VERY end (untranslated) but which I’m assuming has something to do with the missing mother. Is this a possible indication of a 2nd season? Hopefully someone will eng sub the stinger and post it out into the universe. So yeah, Color Rush movie = To My Star style, sadly, not Wish You. That said, I did enjoy watching with different subs. The first version I watched was fan subbed, and they were better on English colloquialisms. Viki’s subs are better on Korean colloquialisms.
Breaking News
Bunch of new press on Thailand’s I Told the Sunset About You 2 AKA I Promised You the Moon. Here’s a master post on the subject with all the links you could ever want. It will start airing May 27th 8 pm (Thai time) on LINETV.
New Thai Bl Golden Blood got a teaser trailer. Stars familiar side dish Gun Napat (Techno from LBC) as a rich kid who needs a bodyguard. Yeah, it looks to be the Thai version of Where Your Eyes Linger which is FINE. I love me a bodyguard romance. DO EETTT Thailand. Trailer contains ALL the tropes: dry his hair, piggyback, cooking together, and more, plus good smooches. It looks GREAT. Also cheeper to make then KinPorsche and it might get funded due to of residual enthusiasm. Also GOOD TITLE.
Close Friend got another teaser trailer this one for Talay & Yoon (no subs).
Taiwan has a new BL coming out... eventually. Looks to be a new franchise like the HIStory series with different couple(s) each season. It’s the first Taiwanese BL from a major in-country network. The first installment is titled Be Loved in House: I Do (seriously Taiwan, could we talk about your titles?). It stars a familiar face, Aaron Lai from HIStory: My Hero. It’s a grumpy/tsundere boss/employee office-set BL with some forced proximity to push them together. (Nods to Japan.) No release date, but (unlike Thailand) Taiwan usually doesn’t make announcements without content & serious intent.
Gossip
Taiwanese BL NOVEL Miracle dropped a trailer, no subs or translation. According to YouTube comments it was supposed to be part of HIStory3 but MODC took on its slot. Still it’s kinda fun to see what might have been.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Some shows may be listed later than actual air date for International accessibility reasons.
Upcoming 2021 BL master post here.
Links to watch are provided when possible, ask in a comment if I missed something.

Can You Answer the 1993 Mastermind Champion’s Doctor Who Questions?
https://ift.tt/3fOxKOL
In March 1993, Doctor Who had been off-air for over three years. Paul McGann wouldn’t become the Doctor for another three, and it would be a further nine until Christopher Eccleston’s first appearance in the TARDIS. The fans though, were keeping the show alive – fans such as Gavin Fuller, who chose it as his specialist subject in BBC One quiz Mastermind.
Fuller scored an impressive 16 points in his two minutes on Doctor Who, and increased that to a total of 29 after the General Knowledge round. He won the episode and went on to become the 1993 series champion, answering questions on the Crusades and the Medieval Castle in the British Isles as his two other specialist subjects.
When the BBC recruited four Doctor Who trivia fans for a special Mastermind episode in 2005 to coincide with the show’s revival, Fuller – who had since become head of The Telegraph’s reference library and went on to write about Doctor Who for the newspaper – helped to set the questions (his own questions in 1993 were set by former Who executive producer John Nathan-Turner).
Incidentally the 2005 Mastermind special, which was broadcast on the 19th of March, a week before Doctor Who’s return, is a curio worth watching for Christopher Eccleston’s appearance. Brought on at the end to present the winner’s prize, presenter John Humphrys introduces Eccleston by name before adding “Or should I say, Doctor Who?” Eccleston responds, “You can for now, you can for now.” He then tells Humphrys that the long hours mean the show “really takes over your life”. “And will continue to do so,” replies Humphrys. “Yeah, we’ll see,” says Eccleston, non-committedly. We did see, three weeks later, when the BBC released a statement announcing Eccleston was leaving the role. Hindsight is 20-20.
Test your Classic Who knowledge on Fuller’s questions below, and see below the video to check your answers. 16 out of 18 with two passes is Fuller’s score to beat.
