AVENGERS: ENDGAME TIMELINE - SPOILERS!

Avengers 4: Endgame 

This was my first drawing/doodling of the timeline & time-space travelling (and events happening during it all) within this movie. 

Apologies for the messiness & for my chicken scratch handwriting, but I have horrible handwriting AND it was drawn late night/early morning...after being awake for a while...after seeing the film.

 I have seen many viewers being confused about time travel in general in this film, and while I see some issues with time travel in the film (simply because time travel automatically means creating issues in the “realism” of the story, cause it’s such a theme/topic that it will cause inconsistencies no matter how you use it in your story), I think the rules and the details of it  were explained and shown pretty well within the movie. And if you focus solely on how they define things, most of it is not confusing. Confusion comes from certain details related to their time travelling shenanigans. 

Timelines created from time & space hopping: 

Scott’s initial test run ? 

2018 Clint’s test run 

2014 Rhodey + Nebula = Morag/Clint + Nat = Vormir  x 1 + 1 

2013 Thor + Rocket = Asgard x1 

2012 Tony + Steve + Scott + Bruce = NY x 3 - 1

1970 Tony + Steve = NJ 

???? Steve’s life in the past

For me, the film left things ambiguous & open-ended enough s they can go either route in the future on the details of time travel. They did not set the rules in stone & make it very precise. They can still claim that changes in timeline happen because of infinity stones removed/borrowed from a timeline and/or by simply going in & changing a few thing. They can also play with the rules of what exactly gets fixed & what not by putting the stones back to where they were taken. And even with just how many timelines were created. They can still play with all those elements, cause they (IMO on purpose) did not explain things in detail - leaving everyone to come up with their own, personal, alternate version of the story and what it all means. This, of course, was done to setup Phase 4... which is about multi-verses and all that...

Clint changed things during his test run by removing the glove fromthat timeline. Rhodey & Nebula changed things by beating Star-Lord to the orb (thus GotG and other events won’t happen as they did in our timeline)... and thus resulting in Thanos from that world travelling to theirs and leaving that timeline without him & Gamora & Nebula. Thor & Rocket changed things by leaving Thor without his hammer for “5 seconds” and sucking aether out of Jane. In NY Bruce changed things by revealing things from past the time she could see to the Ancient One + The Team gives Tony a heart-attack that Thor fixes with his hammer + Loki escapes with the cube... among other changes happening. Tony & Steve change things in 1970 by stealing pym particles & breaking into a secret government/military base. And then there’s Steve, who goes to live his life in the past... and then returns as an old man.   Each of these time heist travels makes changes to one of the alt timelines they create...

Do you think his gambling could restart because of Happy's inability to give him appreciation?

Hello anon!  Thanks for your question!  

I could argue that as a likely trigger, but I am not.  Here’s why…  

The idea that Happy is unable to give him positive reinforcement is skewed.  We have seen multiple instances where Happy has been demonstrative with Toby through action even though she is still not comfortable with PUBLIC displays of affection.  She is not consistent with her words.  It’s not in her nature to be demonstrative in this manner.  Toby knows this.  In fact, it’s expected behavior for low EQ individuals.  It is also important to note that Happy has a tendency to doubt her ability to be open.  Cue these lines in a convo with her father in 2.13 White Out:

H: I’ve never been as… open and carefree as you two in that video… I want to be like you and Mom. But even though I got a second chance at life today, I don’t think I’m able.

P: I think you are.

This is why her relationship with Toby works so well.  One word I would choose to describe the Quintis journey to this point is patience.  Toby is patient and purposeful.  He always positions himself to be a loving and caring individual to Happy.  Why is he like this?  Cue a summary of his comments from 2.19 Ticker:  People like him have a strong desire to give to others the love they never received from their parents as much as they desire to receive it.  But Toby fails every time he goes overboard and does not give Happy the space for her to come to him.  When he behaves this way, he’s usually worried or anxious about something.  So when I re-evaluate Toby in 3.11 Wreck the Halls, I see a similar behavioral pattern as seen in 1.20 Crossroads, 2.18 The Fast and the Nerdiest, and 3.05 Plight at the Museum.  Toby has to openly communicate his concerns/worries to Happy BEFORE they pile up and he does something impulsive or self-destructive.  A minor example of this is seen in 3.08 Sly and the Family Stone when they discuss the wedding.  Toby doesn’t immediately tell Happy that he wants a big wedding UNTIL she comes to him and asks if he is sending her some type of signal (i.e., suggestion to postpone to invite more people) about the marriage plans she initially laid out for them.  If Toby considers his marriage to Happy the greatest accomplishment of his life, he should have been direct with her from the beginning.  He can not be afraid to voice his needs.

I mention several triggers in this post that could push him over the edge.  I also state that he might relapse or he might not.  So we shall see! 

I end with this: It would be an incredibly idiotic decision on his part if he gambles simply because of the lack of positive reinforcement.  If he craves it so much, why would he entertain a romantic relationship with a woman who would struggle to do this consistently?  Toby is not stupid like that, so there are likely other contributing factors that are Quintis-related, personal, or both.

‘C’mon little guy,’ you said, watching as the puppy attacked the lead, biting at it and trying to shake the thing off. You opened the door, the sound distracting the puppy for a moment. It then wanted to all but bound into the place, dragging you with it.

‘Hi – what is that?’ Paige’s voice was full of confusion as you and the puppy entered the garage.

‘I think it’s a dog,’ teased Toby, moving forward to greet the bundle of energy.

‘Why is there a dog in here?’ asked Sylvester, his voice ringing with concern.

‘(Y/n) brought it in,’ said Happy simply, causing you to scoff. Her attention was trained on the puppy, as if trying to second guess what it would do.

‘I got a puppy,’ you defended, grinning as Paige and Ralph played with him.

‘And it’s an addition to the team?’ asked Cabe, smirking.

‘I didn’t agree to this,’ Walter said quickly. ‘But it might be beneficial to –’

‘I couldn’t just leave him at home!’ you said, crouching to stroke your puppy. You hadn’t expected the team to be so inviting to the animal, but you were glad that they were to say the least.

Halloween III: Why some of us are upset and some of us aren't

Let's get this out of the way first: Brooklyn Nine Nine is a great show with great writing.

In most shows it's always obvious when there's been a time gap, and even through little bits you get the sense of it, like when they have to replace a child actor because humans age faster when filming than when characters are supposed to in fiction. Safe to say, B99 doesn't have a lot of those obvious giveaways (that I've picked up on anyway). And I know tumblr is usually the most accepting place for getting way too wrapped up in fandoms, and that's totally me right now. I cry whenever someone else cries, and whenever something emotion happens in what I'm watching/listening. My weakness is characters trying to comfort someone else while they are the ones dying. Man, that's an instant tear jerker for me. Anyway, B99 has some really good writing. So of the people who posted about people's reactions on why people shouldn't be upset about Halloween III, I completely get it. My first thought was how I (and I assumed most people) would react in the situation to being minimized and jerked around during a competition. Because this show is really good at dragging you out of the confines of storytelling. They do have realistic writing, and since they're so good at keeping it up it's easy to forget that we don't see everything that happens on screen, and that we don't even see most of it.

And I probably would have kept being upset over it (at least a bit) if there weren't more observant fans than me, because I'm not nearly as observant as I'd like to be. So props to you guys and thanks for being great and pointing stuff out to me and the rest of us.

I am preparing a flight plan queue of posts..all related to this film, this universe, this character (yes, I mostly focus on one character - I’ve explained why in the past)

Ermanda’s Inner Sanctum: Scorpion 4.07 “Go With the Flo(rence)”

I liked this episode, but it failed to live up to its predecessor (2.09 US vs. UN vs. UK) referenced through MI6 agent, Gemma.  The premises were very similar: Scorpion was commissioned for a job with an ulterior motive they didn’t realize until they reached a point of no return.  This episode’s strength came through the EQ rollercoasters scattered throughout beginning to end, much like season 3.  The prevailing question was, “what do women want?”  And it was really funny to see Walter try to answer this question with Paige going back and forth! 😂  Plus, Ralph was testing his own plans to get Patty Logan's attention!  Let's talk about this and more! 

Walter & Ralph: Problem Solvers

I really like the juxtaposition of Ralph and Walter's issues with the women of their affection.  Walter sees an issue with Paige's accumulation of beauty items and develops a serum that addresses all her concerns without notifying her beforehand.  Ralph is taking the time to think about ways to get Patty's attention by appealing to that which she values most - punctuality.  Considering Walter is the one who has to learn more EQ, it seems quite odd that he feels led to advise Ralph.  Ironically, the advice Walter gives Ralph ends up working in his favor.  The instance set up another father-son dynamic between them that I anticipate to grow more throughout the season.  

Walter's struggle with Paige in this episode is very reflective of the IQ/EQ clash that the writers are heavily exploiting this season since Waige is officially a couple.  It is comedically executed. At first, he assumes.  Then he shows lack of emotional support by following Gemma without giving emphasis to Paige's vibe.  When Paige requests emotional support, Walter gives it at a stressful moment for the team, prompting Paige to make a request that contradicts what she says earlier.  No doubt Paige is not helpful when she doesn't provide enough context to support what is needed when, which makes it harder for Walter.  However, one of Walter's best qualities that I mention countless times in these reviews is his ability to accumulate information from a series of events and come through in the most clutch moments!  His success leads to a really sweet moment between Paige and him at the very end of the episode.  The whole experience also helps Paige cope with her son's romantic pursuits when Walter suggests that Ralph use this experience to become better at relationships than he is right now.  Thus, these combined scenarios highlights the family harmony that exists between Walter, Paige, and Ralph!  ALL THE FEELS!!!! 💓💓💓💙💛💙💛💙💓💓💓

Back to Basics 

One of the highlights of this show is Paige's role as the team's communicator - a job that extends in her romantic relationship with Walter.  We have seen this dynamic exploited in other relationships within this team (e.g., Happy and Toby, Cabe and Walter).  It's a core facet of the overall premise and we are seeing it again between Patty and Sly.  She specifically reminds Sly to speak to his governance and constituents as humans, not as students requiring lecture.  This is vital for him to effectively reinforce and execute his platform.  If one can not garner interest for a proposed solution to a problem, then it is increasingly hard to sell it no matter how many facts are provided.  I hope Sly manages to figure it out!  He always tries his best to come through when people need him most!  I love these little things that bring me back to the beginning!  

Hello Florence Tipton! 

Scorpion has a new "friend."  And I get so many season 1 Walter vibes from her.  Isn't it funny that Walter doesn't like her after their first encounter?!  Can we say that he has grown so much that he is averse to former versions of himself? 😂😂😂  (Side note: As a preview to a topic I will likely address in my review for episode 4.09 It’s Raining Men (of War), it is by design that Walter, Happy, and Florence are trapped together. You probably know where I am going with this if you are familiar with how I talk about Walter and Happy. 😉)  

She doesn't like noise.  Takes pride in her work.  Has an outcast story like the other geniuses on the team.  Plus, the showrunners tease that she will be a burr for Walter and Paige.  Don't know what way that will be yet, but I have a feeling it will fall along the lines of intellectual connection.  I am excited to learn more about her!

So it seems like Cabe and Toby are meeting for regular sessions! Aww yay! But Cabe is not progressing because he refuses to open up. 👀😒

Patty: Some advice… K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Sylvester. Speak to those guys in a way they can understand, like a human. Not like a lecturer. Space lasers are going to hit the earth if Scorpion doesn’t stop the satellite. Toby’s response… “Who’s up for Vegas?!” 👀 Gets yanked right back in place by Happy. 👌🏾 Me: Interesting… very interesting. 🤔

Paige has a negative vibe about Gemma and Walter doesn’t see it to make a statement in support as a response. Uh oh! 🎧We going down, down baby…🎧 👀  

Why are they taking Cabe’s vehicle? Paige or Walter’s car would be more appropriate considering they are 10x more reliable right now. Happy just started working on it! I understand it is an extension of Cabe’s arc.  Yet, it makes sense that only Walter and Paige are his passengers. Happy already stated that she wasn’t going to hop into that vehicle; Toby travels with his wife; and Sly would choose to go with Happy with whom he is already familiar than travel in a vehicle that’s essentially a “struggle bus!” Besides, Sly is like Quintis’ little brother! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

BLOG UPDATE: FYI

As you have probably deduced... the queue has been running for days/weeks now... and it is time for Virtue/Moir, Canadian ice dance Queen & King posts. 

Most of these pretty gifsets & pics have been in my drafts over a year, some from around 2018 Olympic Games even. And there are enough posts still in the queue/drafts to last for a  few weeks. All the pretty edits, photis, videos... of the amazing blade masters! #haveyouseentheiredges ? #deepedges  #synchonity 

I won’t post much in between, but there are a few non-VM posts coming that will interrupt this queue. Mostly ElemeNtarY & Holmes/Watson related...as there are only three more episodes...three more stories...three more weeks/Thursdays with my favourite detective duo... so I’ll be posting a few things related to the duo. 

Sidenote: I can’t believe that 2019 was the year that I had to say goodbye to both Tony Stark & Elementary Holmes & Watson! And that I have to wait til 2021 to see my favourite detective duo again... in the 3rd instalment of RDJ/JL films.And that I have to wait til 2023 ? for the next “iron son” Spidey film and the return of Tony Stark/Iron Man. Cause in all honesty... I simply don’t believe that MArvel can “afford” a universe without RDJ. It might be true that “they can’t afford him as just a consultant” (Stan Lee style cameos), but I think it’s also true that they can’t afford to not have RDJ/TS/IM back..in some form & in some capacity. Be it “return from the ashes” or “return as AI”...or anything else... 

So.. I will be posting some thoughts & a few edits for ELEMENTARY & JOANLOCK... in between the V/M edits, but otherwise... other “topics” related posts will have to wait til the current queue runs out. 

After VM, I have a lot of new! Endgame & Pepperony & Tony Stark & RDJ posts coming... and by next month (September), I will finally stop tagging Endgame posts with SPOILER tags (yes, I still tag every single posts related to the film with several spoiler tags... even though its been months, but now that the DVD is almost out/will be out... there are no more reasons for anyone to cry about being spoiled accidentally. Now it’s really all about..either find a way to see the film or stay offline...if you can’t handle the smallest of “spoilers” The posts in the drafts are still all tagged with all the spoiler tags I use, but I will be removing all those next month.

I’m...finally...back...online, and ready to post some new content on the blog.

The queue has run its course, and now I've also tagged the posts in the queue that were leading to the post I am currently working on.. my latest film review... of the MCU’s latest, Captain Mar-vel film.The post should be up some time tonight. I’ll be checking my blog regularly... today... 

I wrote down some keywords the night after I watched the film, so I have a base for the post. But since it’s been a few days since I saw it, and since I am not familiar with the character and her backstory (not read the comics, not familiar with the characters or the films backstory, and not even familiar with the whole MCU...) there is a chance I missed several details, and didn’t pay attention, or simply don’t remember everything... because I didn’t see the significance in some scenes. 

So... this is your spoiler warning: the past post were now tagged accordingly...with spoiler tags, and the upcoming review will be properly tagged as spoiler...and hidden under “read more”, so if you haven't seen the film yet and you dont want to be spoiled..at all... please avoid this blog and the posts. 

But... if you want spoilers, feel free to check out the review (coming later), and feel free to ask me any questions regarding the film.

TXF “Ghouli” related thought

This is regarding “sleep paralysis”... (the scene in this ep where Scully wakes up in sleep paralysis).

 I have experienced sleep paralysis. Once. (it was many, many years ago) But my experience wasn’t like this. It wasn’t even as scary/dramatic as mosts peoples experiences I've read about. 

But yes, there once was a time, when part of my body was awake, and part still asleep. I opened my eyes, but I was unable to move. I was very much aware of the surrounding, but I could not move or speak. I was aware of those things, too. 

I just tried “every once in a while” to move myself, and at one point, when every part of my body knew I was awake, I was able to move, and “wake up”. And that was it for me. No hallucinations, no visions, no feelings of anyone being there...or anything. 

It was a surreal experience. One of the strangest things I've ever experienced. And it has only ever happened once to me...
