saw a post a few days ago that said something along the lines of: "the First Spinjitzu Master and his family should be royalty and have the ability to interfere in Ninjago's government"

hard disagree with this however because basically every *political* decision this family makes is awful:

the First Spinjitzu Master negotiates a peace between humans and serpentine that exists around Aspheera's time. what is that peace? simple: humans and serpentine are forbidden to enter each other's lands. let's be clear - this is a creation of two ethnostates divided on the basis of species. yes humans and serpentine are different species, but as sentient beings they have fundamental equality. dividing them like this is absurd and as we see later, only leads to more conflict

Garmadon and Wu facilitate the end of the Serpentine War by locking every Serpentine underground presumably forever. what about the Serpentine children? civilians? also, even POWs (which is functionally what the Serpentine are once put under the control of the Sacred Flutes) should be released after the conclusion of the war (see Article 118, section II of the Geneva Conventions). the anacondrai minus Pythor starve to death as a result. why do they do this? listen to what Wu tells Lloyd as a mere child: "never trust a snake." should we accept this racism simply because Wu's dad used some magic weapons once?

more fundamentally, Ninjago as a society is a constitutional monarchy whose emperor is a figurehead (and also dead). functionally, Ninjago is governed by democratic institutions, and that's a good thing. yeah it sucks that the Ninja go to prison when they break the law, but you shouldn't get a pass because of something your ancestors did.

the reason we have democratic institutions is because they are supposed to be most responsive to the people the state is designed to benefit - their citizens. that's because citizens have a direct say in who they elect and therefore government policy. no citizen's right to vote should be overturned because some old guy asserts his birthright to be in charge.

and even just from a practical level, would Ninjago be better governed if Garmadon had returned from the Underworld and proclaimed that as the eldest heir to the FSM, he deserves to rule? Given all the secrets Wu keeps, would he be a better leader? and Lloyd -- cmon he is NOT a politician, let him teach his kids in peace.

every time i see one of those posts about how fans can’t send their headcanons or fics to professional writers because then they can never use those ideas, i think about going back in time just long enough to tell teen me to fold up my “scully gets pregnant with a magical baby and it might be mulder’s baby or it might be an alien and we just don’t know” fic, put it in an envelope, and address it to chris carter. could have saved us all a lot of trouble

Okay, but I propose: Chris finds out that Eddie is literally trying to replace Shannon with a cheap replica, and he gets ANGRY. With no idea about the will, Chris demands he be allowed to go stay with his grandparents permanently. Eddie, feeling like he has no other choice after how badly he's hurt Christopher, agrees. Buck finds out that he's essentially being cut out of Christopher’s life without any say at all, and suddenly all of Eddie's words about Buck not being expendable and about trusting him most with Christopher feel like blatant lies.

so i came up with a rough idea for a scott pilgrim inspired litg au where you have an evil ex from each season (minus season 8 since it's coming out now)

Bobby would be the main character, which I didn't want at first because he's the most popular LI but I think his personality seems the most likely to get into this situation (minus the Scott Pilgrim being an incel but that's why it's inspired and not a one to one). Also works since he's in a band.

Obviously MC is his dream girl (Ramona in the movie). Could probably have Noah be his roommate, who is bookish and also a little sick of his problems. Then you have the other band members: Lottie is the drummer (who is also Bobby's ex who's still a little mad at him), idrc who the guitarist is lol, and then I think it'd be funny to have a character who wants to be in the band but they don't let him until the end and that should be Felix.

The stuff about Knives I understand is important to the Scott Pilgrim story but I'm not a huge fan of the "dating a high schooler" part lol. Still, we can have a character that he's dating who's all in and he is not but he doesn't have the heart to break up with her and ends up breaking her heart anyway, and that's probably Hannah.

MC shows up to his concert and then you meet the first evil ex, Dylan. And MC is like oh they dated for a week in middle school and after she broke his heart, he kind of became the asshole we know him as now. (the only reason I'm picking Dylan first is because I think Matthew Patel is one of the more cringe exes and I just simply couldn't do that to anyone else in s4, plus after the exposition he just gets thrown away anyway).

Next, Bobby, Noah, and MC all go visit a local movie set and they see her next ex, Rafi. I don't know why I always picture Rafi with his like weird smouldering face, but that honestly works well with this character, if you've ever seen pictures of Chris Evans in this movie. Because there's a skateboarding aspect in this, I did consider it should be Jamal, but for the bit I already picked a s6 character so it had to be someone else lol.

Anyway, Rafi gets defeated by his arrogance and then Bobby's band is playing in a contest, where he sees his ex and her new band mate/boyfriend, Mason, who is also MC's ex. As for Bobby's ex, it doesn't matter too much but I could see it being Yasmin since she's also a singer, Priya because she canonically is a fan of Mason's band (i think?) and there are routes where she's initially coupled up with Bobby, or Elisa because I think on some s2 routes she goes for Bobby but also I just like her aesthetic compared to this character in the movie. Also I just think either of them look good next to Mason (maybe they don't fit personality wise but they'd look good)

So Mason gets defeated, probably not with the vegan thing (but if we switch Mason for Levi, I could believe that), but something silly other than physically beating him. Next ex is Bonnie, who is clingy as hell. I don't think we should keep the part where Ramona calls it her like college experimentation stuff because that's not a great stereotype, but I kinda like the idea that Bonnie thinks they were in a relationship and had something but MC is like, no, clearly not.

The next exes are the twins, and so I had no other choice than to make this Ozzy and Marshall. I also think MC probably drove them apart and then when they finally compared stories they finally became friends again and are out for vengeance. Anyway, they get defeated.

Last but not least, the ex to rival all exes, the titular character of s5, we have Suresh running this shit. He is so hung up over MC that he set up this whole league. Literally nothing about his character would make me think he'd do this (because this character in Scott Pilgrim is so malicious actually), but he is the "ex in the villa" so he's gotta be the final boss.

I hate seeing any scenes of eddie and marisol because they have no chemistry like him breaking up with ana should have been enough to make him put two and two together and be like wow I actually don’t like woman at all so big fuck you again to fox for shutting down the buddie canon and also the gay eddie storyline cause season 5 was the perfect setup to have him come out as a queer character and you go and fuck it up yet again and put him in a relationship with a woman that he had barely interacted with and had no chemistry whatsoever and the only woman that he did have chemistry with after ana was felisa and even then felisa was giving off queer vibes so again back to the whole buck and eddie only seem to have good chemistry with woman that give off queer vibes as well discussion that I’ve previously mentioned lmao

or yk just depending on what they actually have him canonically identify as on the show with now with season 8 I think it would be amazing to have him identify as demi to give a representation that isn’t already seen as predominant in any media because as we have seen eddie throughout the show with his relationship with woman he always uses sex as an excuse and not as a moment of pleasure or moment of intimacy between him and his partner it’s always a requirement if that makes sense like he uses sex to actually avoid talking about the problems in a relationship or he uses it to please them and not himself again like if that makes sense and we have seen him panic and avoid confrontation as well with the woman he’s been in relationships with like again even with his whole marriage with shannon like he got married because of his family and the church which for him as a mexican guy growing up in texas to a mexican catholic upbringing and going to catholic school and surrounded by this culture of hiding your feeling and not being in touch and honest with himself… this coming out storyline is going to have such an impact and I am so ready to see what ABC does and I hope they give him the storyline that eddie’s character deserves after everything his character had been through so far

i need to fully watch s9 of mlp fim honestly but oh god do i not like the tone of that season. everything feels off and...cynical?? if that makes sense??? at least the finale's song is great and feels genuine but bleh.

also twilight becoming equestria's sole princess is stupid as hell lol sorry. she clearly did not want to do it but her friends brushed her off with "oh there she goes twilight-ing again *eyeroll*" no you assholes she is clearly refusing consent LISTEN TO HER???

Eddie ending up isolated from everyone because counsellor ortez has it in for the 118 so splits them up so he’s left alone with the fall out of his choices through external forces at work - so the fire fam can’t be there for him as they normally would because they’re all spread to the 4 winds?!!
