Cut to Doc O'Malley and Lopez's head in some sort of base.
O'Malley: (maniacal laughter) Yes, this place will do nicely for an evil lair. It's diabolically designed!
Doc: As a student of feng-shui, I can tell you this house is 88% good luck. Also, very breezy. I like the floorplan.
O'Malley: Quiet you fool.
Lopez: No mas quiero un cuarto solo para mí. No me gusta compartir con el vacío. [I just want my own room. I hate sharing with the vacuum.]
O'Malley: Hello? Is anyone home? Don't be alarmed, we're only here to kill you and take all your possessions. Excellent! No doubt our very presence, has scared everyone away! (evil laugh)
Doc: Why don't we just see if this place is listed by a licensed real estate agent?
O'Malley: Oh shut up!
Doc: But we don't even know if it's been inspected recently. It could need foundation work.
Lopez: Podría tener molde. [It could have mold.]
O'Malley: Both of you shut up. We're moving in and that's final. It has machine gun turrets, two living quarters with ample closet space, and a short commute to my secret laboratory! ...It's perfect.
Doc: Yeah, but what about the school district?
Lopez: No tenemos ningún niño. [We have no children.]
Doc: It's important to think about resale value, Lopez.
O'Malley: Resale value? Our plan is to rule the world! Not make prudent investments.
Lopez: Es importante tener un plan del retraso. [It's important to have a fallback plan.]
O'Malley: Oh shut up. We're moving in, that's final.
Doc: Hey look, a computer! Now I can finally update my blog.
Lopez: ¿Tienes un weblog? [You have a blog?]
Doc: Yeahah, it's great. It's just like being a real journalist, but without all the hassle of like liability and accuracy.
O'Malley: No, I need that computer for compiling evil formulas. And to rebuild the weather machine. Also to download music. (evil laugh)
Lopez: ¿Quien quiere un postal de googlé invita? [Does anyone want a g-mail invite?]
Doc: Ooh, I do!
Lopez: Tengo cuarenta mil a dar. Es muy exclusivo. [I only have 40,000. It's very exclusive.]
O'Malley: Where's the mouse thingy?
Doc: It has one of those red rubber dot thingies on the keyboard. That's way better than a mouse. I call it a nubbin. Who wants to touch my nubbin?

So I’ve been listening to The Wrong Station. It’s a horror anthology podcast – a true anthology, no overarching plot or recurring characters, just some standalone spooky stories.
Overall I like it – there’s more consistency to it than most anthology podcasts because it keeps the same writers rather than taking submissions. They generally have good narrators, and there’s a nice vibe of “Lights Out” and other old-timey radio horror programs to it. Like any collection of short stories it’s still a little hit or miss, but there’s a nice variety and a bunch I liked.
I’ve made a list of some of my favorite episodes for anyone interested. (CWs under the cut, this list is highly subjective and probably speaks as much to my personal taste in horror as anything else.)
Top Ten:
S2E11: Bad Road – Cursed/haunted highways are a criminally underused setting for horror.
S2E13: On Black Lake – This one makes me sad, but in a good way.
S3E25: War Comes Home – I liked where this one ended up.
S3E26: The Attendant – This one is just brutal, truly communicates a feeling of actual horror.
S3E28: In The Dead Of Night – A nice, menacing ghost story. Has a real “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” feel.
S3E32: Northland Bus – I love this one. It’s just weird, weird, weird.
S3E43: Into Pigment – Do you like your horror with a side of painful and messy emotions? Buddy have I got a story for you.
S3E45: Aquarium – A story about a really weird fish. That’s it.
S4E52: Roses – Nice, solid spooky story about messed up things happening to messed up people in a messed up house.
S4E59: The Door – Gotta love a mysterious door.
Other decent/notable episodes:
S1E8: Family Business – Your basic creepy funeral director story, this one is fun.
S2E12: These Old Trees – A man takes you for a walk in the woods and tells you a story.
S3E27: Come And See – If you liked Season 2 of Archive 81 you’ll probably like this. If you hated Season 2 of Archive 81, you’ll probably hate this.
S3E34: Velvet – DEER HORROR DEER HORROR
S3E41: Flynn’s – A horror story about gentrification. That’s not a spoiler, you’ll pick it up fast.
S4E53: Auld Tup – I’ll be honest, I’m not even sure why I like this one so much, or if anyone else will enjoy it as much as I did. The “reveal” isn’t really a reveal as it’s pretty obvious where things are going to go from the start. There’s just something about the weird, deadpan vibe of this little folk horror story that delights me.
S4E65: Unbridled – Scifi-horror. Getting some ‘Annihilation’ vibes from this one.
S5E67: Pollo Rojo – The real nightmare here is being stuck in a shitty, shitty restaurant job. Don’t listen to this one while eating is all I can say.
S5E75: Sweets – The villain was colonialism all along! A silly, nasty little story for anyone who wants to watch a terrible person slowly destroy themselves.
S5E78: My Darling Little Cat – Another silly, nasty story. This is one where the narration really elevates it.
Snip Or Treat – “Short Snips” are their flash fiction collections, and this is their first Halloween-themed one.
Snips in Stockings – Christmas themed horror stories aren’t that common, and I like some of the things they try with this.
Please Consider This – More of a trailer than an actual episode, but a fun one. Some vaguely “WTNV Twitter” vibes with the short, strange images.
CWs:
S2E11: Bad Road – References to police violence and child abuse.
S3E25: War Comes Home – Themes of war and PTSD.
S3E26: The Attendant – Abuse of someone in a wheelchair, brutal animal death.
S3E43: Into Pigment – Medical neglect/long term illness.
S2E12: These Old Trees – Child death.
S3E27: Come And See – Body horror (LOTS), gore.
S3E34: Velvet – Body horror, animal death.
S4E65: Unbridled – Body horror.
S5E67: Pollo Rojo – Animal death (chickens slaughtered for food), gore.
S5E75: Sweets – Colonialism and associated attitudes.
S5E78: My Darling Little Cat – Child endangerment, animal death, body horror.
Snip Or Treat – Child endangerment.
Snips in Stockings – Child death, animal death.
Please Consider This – Possible paranoia/unreality trigger (the premise of the episode is that listening to it will rewrite your brain.)

S3E45 ... It’s finally time for a pre-Christmas story.
I don’t know who’s my personal favourite in this story: Jackson the genius inventor, Bennet the reasonable and loyal adult or Ed who is so damned Ed the boss ...
... and it’s really a pity that the main picture - in the dead room bakery - is so small. I needed a few hours to make it and you can’t see the effort. But it is the perfect desktop wallpaper which I use now for the Christmas time 😁
It’s maybe not the story, but the details!
Have fun!

Wolf 359
Tumblr media
[ID: Wolf 359 logo. A radio centered on a field of black, a red star right behind it. Around the radio, various objects floating in space, including a potted sunflower, a toothbrush, a fork, a tin can. The words ‘Wolf 359′ in the bottom right corner. End ID.]
I’ve listened to: Every episode, mini, and extra.
To be aware of: There are a few episodes where someone dies on air, including sound effects and at times screaming. There are many conversations around personhood and microaggressions that may be upsetting. There are scenes with medical emergencies and scenes that can be construed as torture (with screaming). Most of this did not happen until the plot was far enough along that I was emotionally invested in the characters, and none of it felt to me like it was done for shock value.
Summary: A crew of four is stranded in deep space aboard a slightly dysfunctional station orbiting the star Wolf 359. Every time they have contact with anyone not from the original crew, things get progressively worse.
Episodes to skip: Season 1 Episode 3 (for some medical related screaming); S1 E5 (for medical); S1 E13 (for death of non-human character, no screaming); S2 E24 (for mental manipulation of non-human character); S2E25 (for medical collapse at end); S2E26 (for medical emergency); S3E30 (extreme isolation and medical issues); S3E42 (death on air, screaming); S3E45 (death on air, no screaming); Change of Mind (torture and death on air with mild sound effects); S4E48 (violence, death, suicide discussions); S4E50 (medical emergency); S4E53 (discussions of violence and death); S4E55 (threats of murder with firearms); S4E56 (mind control and self-harm on air); S4E57 (on air violence and threats of murder); S4E58 (body horror); S4E60 (firearm violence and medical issues); S4E61 (death on air, minimal sound effects, no screaming).

Simmons hops up in the passenger seat of the jeep.
Grif: Hey, what're you doing?
Simmons: What does it look like I'm doing, I'm getting in the jeep.
Grif: What're we, on a date? Get in the back.
Simmons: Oh you're so insecure.
Sarge: (standing back up) Will you two shut up? We need to get this thing fixed.
Donut: I feel dizzy, Sarge...
Sarge: Oh, that's just blood loss. You'll make new blood, you just need some orange juice.
Tucker: What's the rush on getting this thing fixed, anyway?
Sarge: Listen dirtbag, I know on Blue Team you like to lollygag a bit-
Tucker: There is no Blue Team. It's all a lie. Red and Blue are the same.
Grif: Aw, don't start that crap again.
Simmons: You sound like a conspiracy nut when you talk about that stuff. The government put a chip in my brain.
Grif: The President can hear my thoughts.
Donut: We never landed on the sun.
Grif: (sharp inhale) They put fluoride in my water!
Simmons: Actually, that one's true.
Grif: It is? No wonder I listen to so much pop music.
Sarge: We're fixing the jeep because we need to be prepared. Just as our enemies are no doubt preparing to attack us at this very moment.
Tucker: But you guys think I'm your enemy, and I'm not preparing to do anything. 'Cept get L-A-I-D.
Simmons: ...
Grif: ...
Tucker: Laid.
Grif: Yeah, we can spell. We just think that was fucking weak.

Do you know where Rhett got his Shirt in S3E45?? He's got two shirts with little monsters on them and I love them!
I believe I got asked this quite some time ago, and I think one person replied saying it was fan made, but I never found any video of them saying that... It is super cool tho!
