The Farmhouse Arc should've been the most significant character growth period for 2012 April as a character, and I kind of wanted to talk about that- Lmao
I apologize for not for recalling the user who's post I saw talking about this (I'll definitely @ them if I end up finding them / their post again-), but I recently came across somebody mentioning how they felt 2012 April should have experienced some self-loathing during The Farmhouse Arc given the whole Irma / Kraang Invasion situation-
I completely agree ! But that made me want to expand on that in my own way, because this is something that I genuinely enjoy getting into since there was so much potential (As most things in 2012 have-) that just didn't used,,
Since we've already established time and time again with this series that the writing is not as good as it could be, it "makes sense" that April barely felt any guilt outside of the initial S2 finale and the mistakes that she made don't even get brought up during the aftermath that is the Farmhouse Arc (If we're really being honest, they don't even really get brought up during the initial Season 2 finale- 💀). But if the show had better writing, April should have and would have felt more guilt / had that guilt be very apparent throughout the Farmhouse Arc in how she moves and talks to the Turtles + Casey during their stay there. Not to say that everything was entirely her fault, such as Irma being Kraang Subprime in disguise (She didn't ask for that nor did she cause that to happen-), but it should be acknowledged that their lack of an upper hand feels attributed to her actions the most in this particular Season finale.

I mean, honestly what was she even doing-?? I'm not trying to necessarily give a pass to Casey here, since I know that he was also goofing off / not taking things as seriously as he should have been even though he technically was helping Raph search for Karai- But at least he was with Raph, you know what I mean? Raph and Casey (technically) were searching the city for Karai as it means of protecting her and keeping her safe from the imminent Kraang Invasion (They were also looking for her post her mutation in general, but it was especially dire now-), Leo and Donnie (and Mikey technically-) are in the Lair deliberating on courses of action (Both on options to confront the incoming Kraang Invasion but also means of a safety net, something that Leo in particular was stressing they have outside of the city-). What is April doing during this time? What was her big contribution to this incoming threat? Hanging out with Irma. Like what- Lmao
I understand that like a lot of things that this show has 2012 April do or say, it's just used as a plot device or something to push the narrative that they're going for (Which is incredibly irritating, since it basically sacrifices any good character writing for her so that they can just move the plot along- Regardless of whether or not it makes sense for her as a character to do or not do- But I digress.), and this is just another example of that. But I would be lying if I said this particular aspect of the S2 finale has never made a lick of sense to me, even to this day. A second attempt at a Kraang Invasion is literally on the horizon, and instead of being with her team + actively helping / contributing in some way to this inevitable issue, April's hanging out with Irma-? The writers don't even give any context prior either, like the two of them coming from the movie theater or April's home or something. They provide no explanation as to why April's even spending her time with Irma in this moment.
Which, just like most things in this show, I'm not even saying that that had to have been a poor choice? This is why context is important- If they had shown April clearly stewing over the incoming Kraang Invasion as she's on her way to meet up with everybody else to discuss their options and Irma "just so happened" to essentially ambush April with her presence, thus making April feel obligated to entertain her for the time being? That would have made a lot more sense. It also would have been a great way to foreshadow the events to come in relation to Irma, since there would have been a clear atmosphere change and some unspoken reason as to why Irma wants her attention so badly right now- It also wouldn't have taken up a lot of runtime in my opinion, so I don't understand why they didn't do something like that? 💀

But to not derail from the initial point, (Given the poor writing, I know-) April basically brings a bunch of chaos to the Turtles (and Casey) and quite literally does the bare minimum about it. When she (unintentionally) reveals their home to the enemy, what does she do throughout that entire ambush? Hide. She doesn't even make any attempts to fight off the Kraang that are flooding into the Liar and essentially destroying their home.

What did she do after they escaped the sewers? Take them to her apartment, which initially was just meant to help Donnie get patched up before revisiting the chaos she (unintentionally) created, but instead April ends up staying in her apartment with her cowardly Father-?? For way longer than she should have. I understand that April does not control Donnie and it's not / shouldn't be her role to influence his decisions, but it was also upsetting to know that she was basically the reason Donnie was so inactive (Since he refused to "leave her side" or whatever-) and this in turn caused Mikey to also be inactive because (Rightfully so??) he's not going to go out there by himself- So April (more or less) was the reason why the three of them did nothing but wait around in her apartment until Raph and Casey arrived. She technically "did something" during the fight (more or less) with Kraang Prime in the Turtle Mech, but that only partially counts to me because that was more of a group effort (Since it's ideal for four people to be working the robot and she pulled like one lever or something like that- Lmao).

And of course, there was that psychic freakout that she had at the end of the S2 finale, but those never count to me because that's not something that she's consciously making an effort to do- If that makes sense? If April wasn't this special Human + Kraang Mutant Hybrid, she would just be freaking out like a regular person, and that would have done nothing for them- You know what I mean? (I really loathe these psychic freakouts that the writers have April do for this very reason-)
If you really pick apart April's role in the S2 finale, she mostly escalates the situation and does very very little to alleviate any of it or contribute positively in some way. Again, I acknowledge this is a poor writing decision and most likely influenced by their want to move the plot along and make this season finale "really dramatic"- But that doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to acknowledge it for what it is. Lmao
That being said though, I can now circle back to the topic at hand, which is that the Farmhouse Arc should've been a huge growth period or her as a character. ESPECIALLY in regards to her relationships with the Brothers and Casey.
The S2 finale should have been a situation that caused the group to view April differently. Not in the sense that they view her as an enemy or something of that nature, more that they're finally more openly acknowledging that she makes a lot of mistakes. Mistakes that they (More so the Brothers than Casey-) usually suffer the brunt of the consequences of. This is something that I feel is very apparent with her character (S2 the most-), and while that isn't a bad thing since a lot of characters in 2012 make mistakes, it's very obvious that the main group responds incredibly differently to her mistakes than any other character's mistakes. She's never forced to dwell on her wrongdoings or missteps, nor does the group ever harp on them or make her feel guilty for a prolonged duration of time like they do with other characters. We see this constantly throughout the series. The Brothers and Casey are always quick with their reassurance and understanding, always quick to tell her it isn't a big deal or that they got it handled, etc.
While it's not necessarily a bad thing to support her or make efforts to prevent her from developing a lack of self confidence, there's a fine line between giving support and coddling a person. Oftentimes, I feel like this teeters into the coddling side of things rather than genuinely supporting her. They essentially treat her like a child (so to speak), in the sense that they'd rather her believe that she "didn't do anything wrong" and that *everything's okay" instead of being honest when she makes mistakes or acts in ways that genuinely upsets them or off puts them.
THIS?? The S2 finale / Kraang Invasion?? This 1000% should have been the boiling point, and Raph in particular should've been the one to tip over the metaphorical pot. A theory that I have for the S2 finale going into the Farmhouse Arc that I believe holds up very well is Raph and Casey not being privy to the fact that April caused a lot of the chaos that they experienced during that finale. Of course, once they initially left New York City, their priorities were more focused on getting to safety (the O'Neil Farmhouse) and helping Leo in some way / shape / or / form giving his uncertain condition health wise. So it makes sense that this wasn't a topic of conversation immediately. However, it would not surprise me in the slightest if Donnie had made the decision to not tell Raph and Casey about what had transpired in the Lair that day (Or at the very least not the whole story, which would include April's involvement-). Convincing Mikey (And somewhat April-) to do the same. Because why wouldn't he? April's always been his top priority, and if not telling Raph and Casey the truth means protecting her, then he most likely will do that. Because I'm sure he knows Raph would be pissed beyond belief.
AND AS HE SHOULD BE- Hello?? If Raph found out that the reason why the Kraang Invasion began sooner than they planned thus causing them to be incredibly unprepared / their Lair got discovered and destroyed by said Kraang Invasion / Leo got separated from the group (And took on Shredder alone, but I fully acknowledge that that wasn't April's fault, I feel like that was a really stupid call on Leo's part during this finale-) / Splinter got separated from the group and this causing a domino effect that led him to confronting Shredder and being thrown further into the sewers and Raph ( + Donnie / Mikey / and April-) witnessing that horrific event was because of APRIL -?? Regardless of whether or not it was an accident, I think he would have a right to be upset with her. Because like I said before, she's had a lot of accidents that they've had to clean up before.
So just picturing Raph chewing her out at The Farmhouse and finally addressing how upset he's been with her in the past but bit his tongue so many times because she's supposed to be their friend?? That's "Chef's Kiss" tier conflict in my opinion. I genuinely feel like something of this nature was meant to happen and should have happened. A mistake of this caliber should have affected her relationships with them. Of course, Raph is the only one that I truly see being so unapologetically upset with April over this. Casey and Mikey would probably fall under some kind of murky mix of emotions, where they understand why they should be upset with her and to a degree they are, but they don't necessarily want to isolate her or cut her out of their lives- You know? I feel like their body language around her would be the biggest tell though, especially Mikey's, which I think would hurt April a lot (But it's not like she's really in a position to argue against it,,). I also think it would hurt Mikey a lot too, since being in this kind of position would make him incredibly uncomfortable for sure and I'd imagine he wouldn't like the way he's instinctively reacting to her presence nowadays,,
Donnie, of course, would be the only one "acting the same" towards April / around April. But deep down I think even he knows that something has changed between them, something that he would be in denial about for a majority of their stay there. I think this would have been a really great way to progress their relationship though- Both in the context of pushing for their romantic relationship (Which again, I personally am not a huge fan of 2012 Apritello, but I also don't want to exclude these things-) but also dismantling it entirely. On one hand, I think this would have been a really unique way to finally get Donnie to view April as an individual rather than simply the "object of his affections". Fully allowing those rose-colored glasses to be put aside for a second, you know? This should have been an event that tested his (so called) love for April in my eyes. Because if he doesn't love her and value her as a person, especially when she's at her lowest or has made some of her biggest mistakes (Ones that directly affect him-), then can he really say he loved her at all? I also think this should have been a great arc for Donnie as far as not making excuses for April anymore, since this is a bad habit he's (seemingly) nurtured. Learning that it's okay to be critical of her and these criticisms not drastically influencing their relationship or his affections towards her. But I can also see this skewing the complete opposite direction, and this finally being the event that ends the crush saga all together-
I personally felt like this was a very realistic possibility, since Donnie's crush on April is very surface level (He only "fell" for April because she was the first girl he witnessed upon leaving his home for the first time + he thought she was very pretty. He never makes any genuine attempts to get to know her as a person, and this feels very apparent given his behaviors and actions towards her. When he made his chart to "successfully get April to hang out with him" back in S1, everything that he listed had everything to do with himself and nothing to do with her or her interests. He didn't even try to guess or do any kind of process of elimination for her interests through his conversations / interactions with her. Also during S1, Donnie makes the bold assumption that April will like him simply because her Father is also a scientist- Which has absolutely nothing to do with April as an individual and there's no real correlation as to why she would "like him more" simply because he's similar to her Father / Father's profession? During this exact Season, when we see him gift her the music box that he made for her in, "A Foot Too Big" / S3 EP 2 /, April clearly looks uncomfortable for very obvious reasons but another thing that comes to mind is whether or not she even likes music boxes-?? There's no real explanation as to why he thought this would be a good gift for her- 💀). So to me, it makes sense that having his Rose colored glasses shattered / having a situation that practically forces Donnie to truly see her as an individual who's flawed and makes mistakes like this one would cause his crush on her to essentially evaporate instantly. Because what was his crush / infatuation founded on in the first place-? You know what I mean? I can also see his crush dissipating because of April and how she's handling this entire situation. I can see her handling it poorly in two different senses, the first being that she becomes very overly sensitive and defensive (Since Raph blowing up on her would be a massive hit to her pride, and as we've seen throughout the series, she's built up a pretty big ego just as much as the other characters have-) or she becomes very detached and blunt. Something that would cause her to become more openly honest with Donnie about how she views him and their relationship, that being that they just don't really have one- Finally being able to speak on how his advances make her feel and how they aren't necessarily wanted a majority of the time. :/
But now that I've established how I feel the other main characters should've responded towards April post the S2 finale / entering the S3 Farmhouse Arc (Minus Leo whose in a coma-), it's finally time to talk about how I feel April should have carried herself during this arc. Which would be BUILDING / REBUILDING HER RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THIS TEAM (Minus Leo, but also technically him to just after he wakes up from his coma-). One of my biggest gripes with 2012 April in relation to the group as a whole is her lack of proper dynamic with most of her teammates. Casey is honestly the only exception to this, since we do see her get more significant bonding moments with Casey / she does get a lot of one on one screentime with him on particular- But even that could use some work too. April doesn't feel like an actual friend to any of them, and that's always been something that bothers me considering how highly they regard her as a person and how much they trust her / how much they put their faith in her. It would make sense to properly establish where that trust and praise even stems from, you know what I mean? But since the writers suck ass, you can essentially just chalk this up to her being the titular girl character and therefore she "deserves this treatment" canonically. I hate that reasoning and think it's really dumb. :) Lmao
I'm not saying the entire Farmhouse Arc needed to be so April centric (Since 2012 already feels like the Leonardo and April O'Neil show a majority of the time- 💀), but I don't think it could have hurt to have a majority of those episodes have significant moments between April and a particular Brother / Casey. With Mikey and April, I think it would have been really great for April to validate his feelings and reinforce the fact that it's okay for him to be upset with people. That doesn't mean that he has to hate them forever or hold grudges like a lot of people in his life do (I can also imagine that's the biggest reason why he's so uncomfortable with the possibility that he's holding a grudge against April, since his entire life revolves around this stupid grudge between his Father and his Uncle- Because Shredder basically is their uncle and I hate that that isn't acknowledged more?? That's like top tier family drama angst right there- Lmao). But it's also not healthy for him to essentially pretend as though he doesn't feel emotions like anger and frustration and disappointment. I think it would have been really cool for April to validate his thoughts and opinions, with this being used to build a better relationship between them and result in Mikey learning to trust April once again (Not that he necessarily lost his trust in her but it felt complicated for a while-). We can also get more screentime of April loosening up and doing fun / silly things, since I'm sure Mikey would bring out that side of her ! I also think Mikey should have been the one to help her with her psychic abilities instead of Donnie, I don't know if that's a hot take but- LMAO
Like I said earlier, I don't think April didn't have a relationship with Casey but I think this situation would help strengthen it for sure. To be honest though, I don't see April necessarily needing to make a lot of amends with Casey (Aside from his Father and younger Sister getting abducted as well, and maybe this could be a good way for Casey to be able to actually talk about his family with someone onscreen-). But I do like the idea of April going to Casey a lot during the situation for advice- To have an outside looking in perspective, you know what I mean? Especially with Raph and how to fix that mess,, But this would be a great way to show how much April values Casey as a friend and respects his opinion / appreciates the fact that he's always been a shoulder for her to cry on or vent to. I also want Casey to reinforce this idea that she doesn't need to be this "perfect person". This whole character development period for her should be about that in general, but I feel like Casey / her interactions with Casey should highlight this theme the most. I think April should be able to express how difficult it's been to come to terms with the fact that she's not where she wants to be or who she thought she was, with Casey throwing out the idea that maybe that was never who she was meant to be. That it's never too late to reinvent yourself or be a different person, one that you better reflects who you are. I basically just want Casey to reinforce her individualism the most !
I'm biased, so I prefer the situation dissipating Donnie's crush on April, and for that to build a new foundation for a relationship. A platonic relationship. Donnie never truly interacted with April as a friend, always interacting with her as his crush or infatuation, you know what I mean? He read into every interaction they had, everything he did felt as though it had some romantic strings attached or implications. He needs to let that go, for sure. I think they could have had a really cool dynamic if this had happened. The writers also could have better explored April's intelligent side, the one that they constantly like to associate with her character but I feel doesn't always hold up (Not only because a lot of her "character traits" feel reliant on the plot of an episode, making them incredibly inconsistent, but I've always compared April's intelligence level to Leo's rather than Donnie's. You know what I mean?). If April actually has an interest in S.T.E.M. the way the writers like to imply that she does, then this would have been a really good thing for her too ! I honestly don't have much to say aside from this though, because I don't necessarily see a lot of friendship scenarios for April and Donnie-? I know that's kind of sad, but I've personally never envisioned them being super close-? 😭
Raph is my favorite aspect of this entire hypothetical concept though. Not only does it include the satisfaction (For me, yes-) of a character rightfully telling April off for once and April actually having to face the repercussions of something that she's done for an indefinite amount of time, but this also simultaneously feeds into my take that April and Raph should have been a lot closer than they actually were- To talk about this a little better, I'm including some old WIPs of a comic I made exploring this idea (I guess technically I'm still making it-? I haven't worked on it in a while,, 😔) !
I'll do my best to not infodump about the entire story that I envisioned for this comic (Cause it's a lot and this post is already lengthy enough- Lmao), but to provide some context for these specific panels: After Raph explodes on April after finding out what actually transpired during the S2 finale / takes the time to throw in the fact that she's pretty incompetent a majority of the time and it's upsetting the constantly have to clean up after her, April (somewhat understandably) gets in her feelings and it's pretty upset about the situation overall. She ends up running into a conflict with some people by herself in the woods while taking a walk to get some fresh air (It was over a missing mutagen canister and I kind of envisioned these people being similar to "The Finger" from the Bigfoot episode- Like, just weirdos- Lmao), and as you can tell from the comic she pretty much gets her ass handed to her. This is when Raph's words really started to set in for her and she felt honestly disappointed with herself. But instead of kicking her while she's down or fanning the flames, Raph opens up to her instead-
With that little bit of context out of the way, I really love this idea that seeing April like this would result in Raph wanting to open up to her. Why? Because he sees himself in her. Especially right now. Seeing her so frustrated with herself, April wanting to do more than she's physically capable of doing as she is now, feeling weak and helpless ,, He's been there. Many many times. So he starts to empathize with her and his anger simmers a bit.
He opens up about his role in this team, and how a majority of the time he only feels good for punching and hitting people. Like that's all he's capable of. He talks about how he feels so insignificant when the solution isn't hitting people, or even if there is someone to hit that doesn't change anything or resolve the issue. He's not smart like Donnie, he's not warm and compassionate like Mikey, he's not a symbol for people to follow like Leo. In these ways, he understands wanting to do more and being so angry when facing the reality that you can't. Or rather, as you are right now, you can't.
This is more of a personal headcanon for me, but I'd imagine that it took rough a lot of effort and dedication to get the build that he currently has / maintains. I wouldn't be surprised if it took him quite some time to build up that body mass, you know what I mean? So I was also going to reference that at some point in relation to Raph talking about not being where you want to be yet- How for years, he felt so weak compared to Splinter and that upset him,, But it also motivated him to be the person that he currently is + why he takes training more seriously than everybody else. Because he was tired of feeling weak.
This basically segways into Raph helping April with her training during the Farmhouse Arc and this being the most significant way in which they build their new relationship with each other ! He's a little impressed with April's dedication to improving too, which also helps him view April differently / give them something in common. When they return to New York City, I'm sure April would want to feel confident in herself and capable of fixing this mess- Raph getting her there feels like a no brainer to me. I'd also include moments where they're not training and just hanging out regularly during their stay at the Farmhouse ! Something that admittedly would've taken some convincing on April's part, since even though I said Raph's anger simmered, that doesn't mean that it completely vanished right away. But eventually he'd agree to it and slowly let April in again. Maybe not even again though, since they didn't really have a relationship prior to this in my eyes (Nor do they interact a lot canonically as it is-). So this would honestly feel like Raph letting April in for the very first time-! 😭
Also, of course I'm going to be throwing in some hints of 2012 Raphril here and there within this comic- This is me we're talking about- LMAO 💛❤️
I also totally address Donnie's behaviors towards April / his (Most likely unintentional?) misogynistic tendencies. How his coddling of her harms her rather than helps her. His lack of respect for her choices and her autonomy (Specifically referencing, "Within the Woods" where he blatantly acknowledges that April is interested in Casey but instead of respecting that, he feels the need to "prove to her" that she's wrong-?? For not choosing him, basically- 💀). His unhealthy possessives over her as a person. Etc. ! 😔👍
Sorry this was another lengthy yap post-! Basically I agree that April should've had more focus in relation to the S2 finale aftermath like that person was talking about, but I also think the Farmhouse Arc should've better established April's relationships within the group- Idk- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Lmao

FEBUWHUMP DAY ONE: VOCAL CHORDS
TRIGGER WARNING: SELF HARM
@febuwhump
Leo could ignore the feeling of foreboding that hovered over his shoulder.
He could even ignore the sparks of pain that shot up his leg every time he took a step, or the throbbing of his shell.
But he couldn’t ignore the way his brothers flinched every time he talked.
He didn’t even recognise his own voice anymore.
It was as if someone had torn out his vocal cords and replaced them with someone else’s.
He couldn’t raise his voice, and if he did, he had a sore throat for days. He found that out the hard way.
He couldn’t talk too much.
He couldn’t walk too much.
He couldn’t stay awake too long.
Fuss, fuss, fuss.
He couldn’t stand it anymore.
If his injuries were the problem, then he would just have to get rid of them.
Starting with his voice.
His fingers traced the edges of the scar that trailed down his shoulder and down his plastron, skin pulling with his every move.
Was it really worth it, getting rid of his voice?
He could live without it, the hand signals he and his brothers used on their missions would suffice.
What would his brothers think?
They’d probably tell him to rest.
Or maybe… they’d like it better that way.
Yes. They would.
A small smile tugging at the corners of his lips, Leonardo raised his hand to meet the defined muscle of his neck, digging his fingers in. He barely registered the pain-
“LEO! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU-!”
He stopped, face falling. Did they not appreciate what he was doing?
“…Leo, -ease sto- Leo?” He tilted his head upwards. His brothers were gathered in a circle around him.
“Hmm?” He asked.
“Leo, let go.” Donnie said, firmly.
He looked down. Clasped around his hand, which had dug through his flesh, Donnatello tugged gingerly, trying to remove his fingers from the wound. Blood flowed freely down his plastron, pooling beneath his feet.
Reluctantly, he released his grip.
Didn’t they understand that he was doing this for them?
“Leo…” Mikey breathed, his eyes fixated on the glistening red liquid dripping of his brother’s fingers onto the floor. “…Why?”
Leo tilted his head. “Hm?” He asked again.
“…Why are you doing this?” Mikey trembled.
Leonardo stared at him, startled by the question.
“I-I-” He stuttered. “I thought- I thought you’d like it better this way…?”
Raphael’s eyes were swimming with tears, a rare occurrence. A tear slid down his cheek.
“Leo… you’re fine the way you are.”
This was way too fun to write, and it took me way too long. I changed the context like three times before I actually finished writing it😅
And I have no idea where the sh came from, it just appeared.
Hope y’all enjoy

12 Reasons Why 2012 Raph is The Best Raph
He’s an artist (this was confrimed by the writers/producers)
He’s hilarious and his comebacks are clever
He’s voiced by Sean Astin
He’s very protective of his brothers and those he loves and are close to him and has admitted that he is willing to give up his life to keep his loved ones safe (those who say he’s abusive and a jerk can eat a brick!)
He acts tough and harsh because he’s the most sensitive and emotional, he’s scared that side of him will make him look weak. The producers have confirmed that Raph has the biggest and purest heart among the four.
His gorgeous and badass tall alien warrior girlfriend Mona Lisa (he got rizz and we stan our short king! He was the only one with a happy healthy relationship among his brothers)
He can play the drums (we’ve seen him do this in canon and in the ICK music video)
He took the responsibility of being leader when Leo was in a coma during the Farmhouse arc in S3 and continued to take care of everyone, help Leo recover and making sure his brothers plus April kept up with their training. He stepped up during a hard time in their lives.
He helped Donnie with his crush on April (both being his wingman, hyping him up in front of April, and also helping him get over her when he was heart broken)
He’s great with animals like Spike, Pigeons & Chompy, except horses. They hate him for some reason.
He may deny it at times but he’s a hugger. His actions speak louder than words, so Raph often hugs his brothers and girlfriend as his way to show he cares for them/is relieved that they are safe.
Hot take: He’s the only turtle who had an actual true arc and some sort of character development.
Feel free to reblog and add more reasons why 2012 Raph is the best Raph!

TMNTember, Day 27: OC's
Name: Kiri
Gender: female
Height: almost as high as Leo
Hair/eye color: dark brown
Weapon: Tsurugi/Ken
Personality: mature, stoic, alert, serious, observant (not anymore), straightforward, weird, a bit sarcastic, but can also be very caring too
Likes: …Idk, her family (the team)?
Dislikes: Her enemies/opponents I guess
Despite her personality and height, she is the youngest of the team. She is a good liar and thief, and whenever someone yells at her, she looks at them back with a poker face like a statue because of her lack of expressiveness (although there might be exceptions later on). Didn’t/doesn’t understand certain concepts ordinary people would or should know. Despite that, she is street smart, and is also a good listener for her brothers and sisters…
Backstory:
She was born in poverty, and her parents were probably some kind of criminals too, so she was abounded at a very young age. She doesn’t remember much about them, so she doesn’t care about them. Since then, she had to fend for herself some food, clothes, any other stuff for survival. That made her a thief, building up her stealth. Still, whenever she couldn’t find any food for example, she had to eat nasty animals or stuff from the garbage cans.
And that’s just how she lives her life for years until she gets into trouble with the Purple Dragons and messes with them (maybe cuz she stole something from them and screwed up, idk I might have to reconsider that part in the future) , which made her to fight back against several adult thugs. She did beat all of them in the end, but she was very injured due to the thugs’ carrying weapons, and she also had a concussion.
Luckily, the Turtles were on their patrol, probably on search of those Purple Dragons' thugs. Instead, they saw her unconscious body with the rest of the thugs’ bodies. At the time, the Turtles were still trying to get used to the human world, and they couldn’t just bring her into the hospital without showing off as weird creatures or monsters. They thought it would be best to bring her into their lair since they were worried about her and didn’t know what to do. However, Raph was kinda against it (the most), letting a complete stranger into their home. But eventually, they made their choice and took her into their lair.
Yes, they got scolded by Splinter, and yes, despite that they have brought a stranger, he decided to take care of her and tend to her wounds. Perhaps it was because she appeared to be young and their age, but with serious injuries, so he took out pity on her. When she woke up and saw the rat, she wasn’t afraid. She was confused and a bit shocked, seeing a large and talking rat. Despite that, however, she was thankful for both of the Turtles and Splinter.
He would ask her questions about herself, and to his consideration, he takes her in and lets her stay with them. She later meets the turtles, and they introduce themselves in front of her. Later, she will be given a name: “Kiri”.
She would see the Turtles training and swinging their weapons at each other, and then would secretly repeat the moves she saw during one of their training sessions. Eventually, she would get caught doing it, but Splinter was impressed rather than angry or irritated, so she got the chance to become a kunoichi. He also told her that she could have just asked him to train her too.
Seeing the Turtles having their own unique weapons, she asked Splinter for one too herself. She thought that wielding swords was easy, so she asked for the same katana’s as Leo’s. Do keep in mind that katana’s are the most difficult swords to use, so instead, Splinter offered her a Tsurugi/Ken. Though being Splinter’s student, she gradually became Leo’s student too due to her weapon of choice.
Current storyline:
S3, farmhouse arc (mainly the beginning)
There, she would have one on one conversation with the Turtles and possibly April. Raph - worrying about Leo in coma, Leo - his burden, Mikey - his brothers who yell at him, Donnie - his obsession over April, and April and Casey- maybe her mom and his father and little sister?
In “Buried secrets”, she was curious as to why Mikey finds April’s mom suspicious and would later understand as well… (She would be a bit overprotective during their time in the farmhouse too.)
S4, E1 - E14
She wouldn’t be with the Turtles, April and Casey in space, as she would get sucked by the black hole generator. However, when the Turtles met their counterparts from the 1980’s for the first time and got back to their earth in NYC to meet with Splinter (from the past), she (also from the past) would suspect that something was wrong and that they might be a bit different. She would later confirm her statement when she mentioned the recent thing with their Turtles (the ones who didn’t time travel) who didn't know a single thing, but she kept it to herself to not let the other guys worry until the end of the Triceratons’ battle. Instead of going to space like the others, she decided to stay on earth, knowing that the crew must have missed her too.
Broken Foot
Throughout the middle of season 4, she starts to change. During the “Broken foot” episode, she would get angry and disappointed (not too much but still) at Leo and Karai for yet again putting lives in danger and for being inconsiderate about it, then leaves in a bit of frustration.
The Power Inside her
Again, she would start to argue with April for being obsessive over her crystal, but this time to the point of fighting against each other where they were later stopped. Of course, they make up for it, apologizing to each other in the end.
The Rest of S4
She would sometimes start to isolate herself to train or meditate instead of spending with others, especially because of the Super Shredder. It makes the guys worry about it, but she only opens up about it to Splinter. For some weird reason and I don’t know why, I imagined him teaching her some kind of a dance or something (like kata?) personally… (Idk about it now)
Requiem
The actual reason why she got blind was because of the Super Shredder who inflicted a lot of injuries on her, almost on the verge of death while trying protect Karai (Still in progress)
Owari
In here, Kiri is in the hospital while she is still recovering from those wounds instead of Karai. She and Shinigami would join the Turtles, April and Casey together take Super Shredder down. After their victory and Kiri’s recovery, Kiri would also visit Splinter’s grave later on and would sit on the ground for a while to mourn his death. She would suddenly perform that one dance/kata he taught her. She swore on that day to never forget it, so she repeats it every day since it was the only way of keeping her memory of him alive.
S5
In the beginning of season 5, she would be graduated into a kunoichi. Since Splinter’s death, Leo is now the sensei and makes the ritual, congratulating her with the others. Karai also gives her a black kitsune mask as a gratitude gift for saving her and as an apology from their little dispute back in “Broken Foot”. Kiri now constantly tries to improve her sense of hearing and touching (which is why she stopped wearing shoes, but dw she washes her feet) to fight better.
In E5-6, she would be able to meet Sal Commander and Mona Lisa, while in the Halloween Special episodes she would meet Renet.
Mutant Apocalypse
Name: Kiki
Gender: female
Age: 9 (so again, the youngest)
Height: a bit lower than Mira
Hair/eye color: dark brown
Personality: more expressive (prideful, sassy, maybe a bit cocky and kind of a prick but definitely sarcastic) than Kiri, but still can be stoic and serious like her (they share similar characteristics), may act childish and silly but is also smart for her age (thanks to Mikey's genuis), (and insane)
Likes: stars and space => Space Heroes (a complete fan)
Dislikes: mutants (Maximus Kong the most)
In the Mutant Apocalypse AU, Kiri never existed and never met the Turtles as teenagers. So after 50 years (right?), Kiri is a little girl and also the last of the humankind by the name of Kiki.
Why I decided to go on a different character was because I couldn’t figure out how the story would progress (or you can just call me lazy). I found it difficult to include Kiri there and how it would move further on, but since this arc took place in a different universe, I decided that in this particular universe never existed Kiri and she got replaced by a little girl, Kiki.
Backstory:
I always had the idea that few people who didn't mutate would live together and built bunkers underground to hide. They might find food and water, and more and more children will be born, causing the human population to grow over a few decades. Later, Kiki will be born.
Unlike Kiri, Kiki had caring parents AND siblings. A lot of siblings, like 9, and she is the youngest. Her father was the leader of the unknown human clan. He always wanted for the humankind to get back and grow stronger to restore its population and everything like before in the past.
Unfortunately, that never happened due to all of them being murdered and slaughtered by Maximus Kong and his men (well, mutants), who found their secret shelter or lair when Kiki was 6 years old. She either hid herself or was hidden by her mother or one of her siblings while everyone else was fighting back and protecting others.
As a result, everything was destroyed and taken away (by that, I mean food and water and possibly other necessities that would have been taken). It made the girl traumatized by all of the dead corpses of her family and other people splattered with blood and guts. This led her to hate mutants and her vengeance for her people.
Since she has now nothing, she comes out of the bunkers for the first time in her life, not knowing what the outside world had looked like. Time and time pass, and as she walks in a hot wasteland with little to nothing else to find herself without any experience, she collapses.
Luckily, as "The Holy Chalupa" was searching for the map of the Green Oasis, but to no avail, he accidentally spots an unconscious human girl laying on the ground. He was shocked by the fact that he found a human and quickly takes her in. Kiki wakes up in his shelter, and when she sees the old mutant turtle, she tries to run away multiple times. That obviously didn't work, but she didn't give up. Because Michelangelo's a mutant, she also tried to attack him multiple times out of her hate for mutants. That never worked for someone who was taught the art of ninjutsu their whole life.
Though she finally decided to stay after many failures, it took a lot of time for her to trust him. He would teach her ninjutsu skills and tell stories from the past, which would make her sympathize with him. That way of life lasted for 3 years until Michelangelo found his brothers and Mira, who had the map. (I forgot to mention that she went insane because the Wastelands and her goal for vengeance has increased even more. Michelangelo has taught her about letting it go and to forgive, but she never wanted to. She always looked up to the night sky to find some peace and solace, believing her family and people might be there after their death.)
Current Storyline:
Although Kiki heard about Raphael and Donatello, the relationship started rough with her and Mira, but because she had the tattoo of the Oasis, she reluctantly lets her stay. That kind of relationship turned into a friend- and/or kinship when they were both kidnapped and locked in the cel. Both know what it's like being the only survivors of their species, and so Kiki feels less tensed.
Much later, where the whole crew is now on the search for the Oasis, Maximus Kong shows up. They both later meet, and naturally, it doesn't go well for her. She wasn't heavily injured, so she was safe and sound.
When it was revealed that Maximus Kong was Leo all along and that he had sacrificed himself for his brothers, she was shocked as she couldn't believe it. Although she knows it wasn't completely his fault, she still has a part of her that is filled with hate, which makes her feel bad and pity for him. Their relationship was complicated, but after some time, she forgives him and are now on good terms (sort of kinda).
Anyways, that was probably a whole lot for you to take it all in (unless you just scrolled away, which I don’t blame u), but thank u for bearing with me! I’ll try to upload some more of my stuff that has been living in my head rent-free and try to illustrate what I had written! Please, TMNT writers and experienced artists, lend me your guidance 🙏!

Considering that leo changes quite a bit (physically and mentally) during the farmhouse arc, would any fusions involving him change personality wise too? (I havent seen s3 in a real hot minute so going off of memory here-)
The fusions that make up Leo are also going through this process. Whatever Leo goes through will be translated to the Fusions as well. There's a little secret to how Fusions work that will get deeper into explanation later on. Next chapter will be interesting. :)

I would like to throw in my cents with these observations: At least twice, Mikey was the first one to notice when another character was Wrong somehow. For instance, April's "mom" in the farmhouse arc. (s3 ep3) He immediately sensed that something was off about her, and was so certain that stood his ground even when everyone else yelled at him about it. And in the brainworm episode (s3 ep16), he sensed something weird about Slash and the professor as well, before it was revealed that they were mind controlled.
I think that Mikey has gotten good at recognizing when someone is acting "off" in some way because of how often he has seen his family be mind controlled. It's just happened so often that he just knows when something's off. It's like he has a sixth sense for the uncanny valley.
It’s a bit fcked up that 2012! Mikey has consistently been the one to take on his mind controlled brothers. “Pizza Face” and “Parasitica” we’re basically two whole episodes where Mikey had to fight off his family alone while avoiding being mind controlled himself. I mean, it makes sense a bit. He’s likely the hardest to catch since he’s the most agile of his brothers and he has the most raw talent but still it’s a bit fcked.
He probably felt so much relief when Leo managed to avoid being bitten and turned into a vampire when they fought Dracula. Because he was finally not alone while trying to fight off the rest of his family. Though he was still the one that ultimately saved them from mind control in that episode as well. After all he plunged a steak right through Dracula’s heart. Which means he’s basically saved his whole family from mind control three separate times.
And don’t even get me started one rat king episode where Master Splinter attacked Mikey first. Which must have been so confusing and out of the blue for him.

TMNT 2012 time-line theory
Note: This is still a theory and not indicated to be 100% true.
TMNT 2012 mid Season 2 'til the end of Season 3 are a time of 6 Months. Not only that but either Season 2 or Season 3 takes place in LESS than 4 month. Why? Hold on, it's getting a ride:
S4: Annihilation Earth play on the EXACT same day the second time like the first time. The Space Arc plays in a timeline of 6 months as multiple time mention during the Arc.
S2 x S4: When Tiger Claw is in the '87 twice, the same event happened. And since the end of S4 plays on the exact same day as the first time, it's also assumable that the Worm Attack happened on the exact same day as the first time.
S3: In the first farmhouse episode are 3 month the passed.
My point:
6 months are passing during the Space Arc.
The crossover episodes plays either shortly before or while Worm Attack (Donatello said "It's great to be back home" what kind of implies that Worm Attack happend either a day before or on the same day) and since the final on Season 3 play also on the exact same day and the Turtles are 6 month in space...the time that passed between Worm Attack & Annihilation Earth is 6 months or less, it can’t be more than 6 months.
And now it's getting complicated. The first episode of Season 3 has a passing of 3 months. Either Season 2 play in less than 3 months or from Battle for New York & Annihilation Earth are around 1-2 month.
My theory is that Season 3 plays in 4 months & Season 2 in 2 months. Season 3 is NOT less than 3 months.
Short: Season 2 is PRESSUMABLY 2 months. Season 3 is 4 months.
Bonus what is complete theory & assuming:
Between S 1 & S 2 are probably a year passing since Casey said "Last Year" OR they went at least through New Year. While the first one is more realistic..the second option is more likely since Mikey said he's still 15 years....or Mikey is just hella confused what also is an option (that sounds better because no way he's still 15 years.)
What I personally ASSUME:
End Season 1 - End Season 2 = 1 year Since Season 2 plays in around 2 months, I assume Season 1 plays in about 10 months. Leatherhead was trapped for let's say a year, a year in Dimension X are multiple decades. Since Mikey was there for 15 more seconds than his brothers...he would be indeed some months if not a year older than his brothers.
So in my theory how they played the time in the series: Season 1 = 10 Months. Season 2 = 2 Months. Season 3 = 4 months. From mid Season 4 onwards: No idea. After Earth Last Stand we have no real time indicator or I don't find it.
However...if it's really how I assume..it sucks.
I personally prefer the Theory 1 season = 1 year because c'mon, 1 year & 4 months seems a bit unreal even for a cartoon.

Started s3/Farmhouse Arc!!!
ALSO FARMHOUSE ARC? MORE LIKE HORROR ARC JESUS FUCK
BURIED SECRETS GODDAMN THEY DIDN'T FUKCIN HOLD BACK ON THE MONSTER DESIGN
I'M GLAD I ONLY CAUGHT THE FIRST 2 SEASONS AS A KID THIS SHIT WOULD HAV EHAUNTED ME
Oh that's actually part of the reason it took me so long to get around rewatching/properly watching 12, there was like a horror comp of TMNT and I genuinely got scared from monster designs and jump scares from 12 real good editing and timing, the other reasons were the complaints of writing and I'm not a big fan of 3d animated shows
Miscellaneous thoughts from watch through:
I can't with Mikey's voice...I'm sorry I was a cartoon network/Disney XD kid so all I hear is Beast Boy...it's not an exact match(I think bb is more high pitched??idk it's slightly to the left) but certain line deliveries really are
Also Casey's really good with his hands??? Built in homemade taser???? Figured out how to rig his skates to his pants and deploy when needed??? I know mechanic Casey real but some of the fic I've read like don't give him enough credit or reduce him to dumb jock too much
Outfits a spray paint mess, stinky
Mikey showing how he is the best ninja in skills and spiritual/senses stuff if he could focus unfortunately or fortunately he is Baby and therefore refuses and is refused to be taken seriously
JUST WATCHED THE S2 FINALE OF TMNT 2K12 AND
DONNIE WHERE'D YOU GET NUCLEAR WASTE????? WHERE WERE U KEEPING IT AND THE MECH???? CAN APRIL HAVE HER DAD FOR 5 FUCKIN MINUTES???? HOW THE HELL DID KRANG SUBPRIME GET SO GOOD AT IMITATING TEEN GIRL???? AHHHHHH COMA ARC/FARM ARC INCOMING FUCK
OH ALMSOT FORGOT MY FAV FIGHT SCENE BETWEEN SHREDDER AND SPLINTER SO FAR??? MAN'S STARTED HISSING AND FUCKIN BITING THATS HIS BOY!!! HIS SON YOU FUCK GET FUCKED STOP HURTIHG HIS FICKIN KIDSSSS SPLINTER WENT APESHIT YESSSSSS GO FOR THE FACE YESS TEAR HIS THROAT OUT MAIMING KILLING CLAWING AND BITING
ah so this is one of the legendary multiple times splinter died
Miscellaneous thoughts on my watchthrough:
Also skipped episodes becasue of Donnie being..."enamored" with April like bruhhhh they way they wrote it....why
Did not know Casey was introduced s2, also why such the huge fuckin gap, did they not want him to have look same as Donnie???? Like just put the gap in a different place also are his teeth yellow?????in one of the zoom ins when they were group hugging April compared to her and Donnie's his were tinted????? Like damn y'all are cruel to the humans when you design them like the Hamatos and mutants get all the love in design but fuck everybody else
Also don't recommend binge watching the series because the back of your head will always be like damn those kids cannot catch a break just whammy after whammy, like they'll get a week or two(at best!!! Mostly maybe a day or two if at all!!!)of nothing much happening, maybe fighting lowtier grunts but that's it, but a week or two is just 7-14 days which is not a lot in the grand scheme of things
Also Leo stop trying to kys challenge pls and thx 🙏those eps with him remembering splinters words of complete the mission no matter what/who the cost like sir/ma'am??????
Also was sit just me but in the ep 'into dimension x ' was Mikey's voice deeper??? Like for a lil bit??? See why the head canon of it not being months but years is popular also people always mention holy shit kraang skin helmet but what about kraang limbs lasso? Kraang arms armbands? Motherfucker made them into pelts holy shit
Speaking of Mikey I thought the hidden blade in his nunchunks was something added??? Like an upgrade after a fight?? But no he always had it??? God no wonder y'all say these version of the turtles are down for murder yeah after seeing s1/2 they deserve it I love them so much this is why you should(not) give teenagers dangerous ninja skills and weapons
Blue eyes same shade as mask seriously??? I thought it was a darker shade but fanart tricked me, brown eyes Leo supremacy indeed
Once I finish space arc I'm gonna draw half-kraang April because she deserves spooky eyes and sharp teeth she's a little bug eyed freak/affectionate anime girl proportions tiny nose
May add more as I go along

12, 9, 7 and 1 :)
tmnt 2012 for this one
12 . I’ll say the ‘Leo has the shortest lung capacity’ hc. it makes the s1 ending look more angsty :))
9 . Literally any fic with Leo hurt comfort (sometimes no comfort but eh), or s3 farmhouse arc
so far, Deadweight and Shattered are my favorites
7 . When i was younger was the first time. Just a few months ago was fhe next
1. I used to relate to Raph a lot
But now i relate to Leo. Probably the eldest daughter syndrome and perfectionism

TMNT 2012 Remastered Quick Notes
Basically the 2012 series but changed to my liking. Here’s what I would do:
Leo’s eyes will be hazel instead of blue cause I said so. Actually all the boys would have brown eye colors to match with Splinter and Karai to REALLY show that they are in fact biological related.
Mikey - light brown
Donnie - reddish brown (like canon)
Raph & Leo - hazel
Leo and Karai would have NO romance plot. Leo's "feelings" for Karai are actually a familiar connection, as if he already knows her (cause Splinter would always tell stories about his daughter, so in a way Leo already knows her), but he doesn't realize this until the reveal in season 2.
We would actually see the seasons change, meaning April and Casey would have different outfits depending on the season. The Turtles would also wear some layers to keep them warm during the fall and winter seasons.
April's design is slightly changed. Instead of shorts and leggings she wears jeans. Her top, ugg boots, and hair style remain the same. Her hairstyle changes over the course of the series
Season 1-2: low ponytail with occasionally switching to a bun when training with the others Season 3: Hair is slightly longer, sometimes in a ponytail or a braid Season 4 (space arc): Pixie cut, cut it short so hair doesn't get in her face when wearing the space helmet Season 4-5: Hair grew after a short time skip, hair is now in a bob cut
Karai’s hairstyle also changes. When locked in Shredder’s prison in S2, her hair grows longer to show the months she's been locked up. By S4 her hair is down to her shoulders and tied into a half updo. The blonde in her hair also fades away symbolizing that she is distancing herself from the Shredder.
Donnie and April have a slow burn, friends to lovers, love story. Full explanation on how I'd do this HERE.
Season 3 and onward, Leo would wear a leg brace as well as noticeable scars from his fight with Shredder. All major scars the Turtles get are permanent and stay on them
Irma and Rook are the same person, Irma is not Kraang Subprime in disguise. Irma lives on the farmhouse with the others, she is revealed to be an Utrom agent in mid season 3 named Rook who was sent to keep an eye on April and the Turtles. Full explanation HERE.
No going 6 months back in time for the Space arc, the boys instead are given 6 months to collect the pieces of the black hole generator before the Triceratons do, who have the Earth under the control. Think of it like a hostile takeover. Meanwhile on Earth, Splinter, Karai and the Mutanimals forma rebelling to fight against the Triceratons to give the Turtles some more time.
Better build to the Triceraton invasion also. If he hinted out during midseason 3, with Bishop (who would replace Kurtzman) warning the turtles and Mutanimals that there are greater threats out there in the galaxy besides the Kraang.
Mona Lisa and Sal Commander working for Lord Dregg is revealed (to the audience) much sooner. (Think of it like Meg working for Hades in Disney's Hercules, they have no choice and are under a contract because they "owe" Dregg)
Slash would be an antagonist for a little bit longer, but he'd still get redeemed by mid S3.
Timothy aka the Pulverizer returns! Just replace the Brainworm Karai arc with an arc on retro mutagen and Donnie trying to help Timothy adjust to his new half human half mutant forms like Karai transforming from human to snake at will. Timothy can be similar to Sunita from Rottmnt and become a slime person, and can use his powers to be a superhero like he always wanted. Maybe even joined the Mighty Mutanimals.
Leo and Casey would have a romance start to bloom between them in season 3-4. They'd officially get together in S5. Full explanation HERE.
Mona Lisa and Sal Commander are more present in the S4 space and after the Evil of Dregg episode, Sal and Mona occupancy the Turtles on the rest of their mission to save the Earth and stop the Triceratons as a way to repay for their dishonorable actions of betraying them.
Mona Lisa starts living on Earth sooner, after the space arc has ended, she meets the Mutanimals and after the final battle against the Triceratons, they offer for her to join their team and she accepts. Full explanation HERE.
The Mighty Mutanimals would get more focus. There’s a comic book issue that explain the origin of how they met in the 2012 series so I would make that an episode. Let’s add more filler episodes where the side characters are the main characters.
Shinigami would be revealed to be a villain by the end of S4 and she'd assist Tiger Claw during the Kavaxas arc (yes, she would eventually get redeemed, cause I want shinirai) Full explanation HERE.
April and Casey are more involved in the S5 Halloween arc and team up and befriend Renet. Full explanation HERE.
Alopex would team up with the Turtles to help them take down her brother Tiger Claw and Kavaxas. TC would get redeemed because of his sister's influence and protect her when Kavaxas attacks her.
Raph gets the electric powers in the When Worlds Collide special instead of Mikey. Also replace Karai with Slash in that arc, Casey gets involved and Fugitoid returns, now working for Dregg because he has been rewired/brainwashed into thinking the Turtles are his enemies.
80s crossover eps in both S4 and S5 would be removed entirely. The crossover can still happen but have it be a TV movie special or something.
There would be an actual finale where the Turtles and all their allies they made throughout the show team up with their future selves (the mutant apocalypses Turtles) to save their futures and fix history, because we learn from Renet that there's a error and how that mutagen bomb was never supposed to go off. The show would end with the MA!Turtles and the present Turtles stopping the bomb and saving their histories. MA! Turtles would then return to their now fixed future, seeing their timeline is now saved (friends are all alive, Earth is saved, they have careers and families of their owns) and they get their happy ending.

did you ever notice how at the start of s3 raph is barely physical at all with his brothers, even mikey (he flicks him like, once), but the moment leo tells them theyre going back to new york, raph starts hitting mikey again? i noticed raph's lack of.. general grumpiness and he was actually really likeable and sweet at the start of s3. idk if it was intentionl on the writers' part but it was an interesting observation to me
I doubt it was intential, but if we read it as though it was.... it would probably point to anxiety and stress being the main triggers to raph’s shitty behavior. The shit they have to deal with on a nightly basis back home?? Anyone would be feeling overwhelmed and out of control in that situation. Not to mention that during the farmhouse arc, he didn’t have leo’s presence or his father’s constantly looking over his shoulder with judgement.
So that’s the two main things in his life that drive him to lash out removed from play. What do we get? A pretty decent kid.
Thanks for pointing that out to me, bruh. I’ll probably use it in my writing in the future

Fic Rec Tag Game
I was tagged by @dylanobrienisbatman, @thelittlefanpire, and @eyessharpweaponshot -- thank you for the tags!
Post your fics you are most proud of! No limit on how many, just the ones you look at and just feel so pleased that you wrote something so great! Tag as many people as you like to get them to share their own fics! 2k19 is the year we love our own fics babes!
This is probably going to get long because I love my own writing and I’m not going to lie about it. But I’m mostly only going through my T100 fic because that’s simpler and I’m full of self-love but also lazy. (Bonus HP at the end though!)
Since There’s No Place to Go - Bellarke, 2.5k, Modern AU
West Virginia 2009. Clarke visits the Blakes and brings them a post-Christmas gift.
A fave because: I think I really nailed the style and tone I was going for: simple and clean and soft; imo it’s just pleasant to read.
This Night is Wild, So Calm and Dull - Bellarke, 1.7k, S1
Clarke is so sure that Bellamy isn't the boyfriend type that when he kisses her, and it's sweet and gentle and soft, she's more taken aback by the careful way he lets his palm rest against her cheek than by the kiss itself.
A fave because: This one sat unfinished for a long time, and I was pleased with the final outcome and glad I bothered to finish it instead of just letting the first few paragraphs grow dusty in a wip folder. Also: this could have been S1. We could have had it all!
if you yell like that, you’ll wake the dead - Jonty, 1.1k, canon-divergent S4
I woke up with the taste of metal in my mouth back from the dead
A fave because: Jonty angst is my secret favorite thing in this fandom, tbh. Also I wrote this all in one go after getting the idea on the bus and it helped me resolve at least some feelings from the trauma of Jasper’s canon death. Bonus: finally got to use that Naked Lunch quote that haunts me.
My Whole Expanse I Cannot See - Mackson, 3.5k, S4
Miller and Jackson share a room on Science Island and start to grow closer as they contemplate the end of the world.
A fave because: Classic Me style. And the only full length Mackson I’ve yet written.
Pause; Rewind - Monty & Bryan, 12k, S3 / canon-divergent
Monty and Bryan take a trip to the former dropship camp; Monty reminisces about the past and considers an alternate life not lived.
A fave because: I enjoy getting into Monty’s head. I know gen fic, especially long gen fic, has no readership, but I personally love how this turned out. (I like the fic to which it is a sequel, too, though I decided not to include it on this list.)
oh well, you’ve got me under your spell - Bellarke, 8.7k, high school au
Clarke is sophomore class president, assistant copy editor on the school paper, and a member of the debate team.
Bellamy is her best friend's tough, troublesome, protective older brother.
They barely even know each other. And yet for some reason he keeps showing up at her house.
A favorite because: I love this universe and think about it all the time, but I have such major writer’s block on chapter two that I haven’t even touched it in months. So in that sense this story makes me sad. But the first chapter at least is the kind of high school aesthetic that I’m allowed to be nostalgic for, now that it’s so far in the past that I never have to think of all the crappy parts of hs again.
We’re Home at Last - Bellarke, 4.5k, S1 (rated E on AO3 but more like M tbqh)
“The King fell in love with his Queen.”
A favorite because: I hated this while I was writing it, but now that it’s done and I have distance, I’m very proud of it. Pretty vague-smut and Earth-lovin’ scenery porn.
Iridescent - Jonty, 10k, Modern AU
Jasper takes up photography in the wake of Maya's death, and in the process makes a new friend.
A favorite because: Writing recovery arcs for Jasper makes me feel calm inside, and I had fun with the plant aesthetic of Monty’s apartment.
Bring It On Home - Bellarke & Miller, 10k, Modern AU
While working his summer job, helping with the repairs to Police Chief Miller’s house, Bellamy meets the Police Chief’s son and his best friend, with whom he becomes increasingly entangled in the last weeks before he leaves for college.
A favorite because: I worked super hard on this fic and it was sort of an experiment for me, but what I ended up with was a universe I think about semi-often and feel nostalgia for. I miss this fic a lot.
The Oasis - Gen, 2.2k, Apocalypse AU
Four survivors of the nuclear apocalypse find refuge in a farmhouse and receive aid from its two inhabitants.
A favorite because: I had a ridiculous amount of fun writing this series of Halloween fics and the aesthetic of this one worked out especially well imo.
The Sea - Lincoln/Luna, 2k, Canon-divergent (?)
Lincoln follows Luna to their new home on the sea. But on the oil rig at night, strange sounds can be heard from the water.
A favorite because: Another Halloween fic. The last one I did, and I almost skipped it because I was getting burned out, but I’m glad I didn’t because it’s a unique little story by my standards, both in terms of pairing and plot.
Anchored in the Ground - Bellarke, 9k, Canon-divergent
As they approach a relationship milestone, Bellamy and Clarke consider their personal futures, and the future of Arkadia.
A favorite because: This could have been their future! No, seriously, this is a pretty succinct summary of my ideal Bellarke/T100 endgame. Bellamy is Chancellor, Clarke is an Ambassador, the community is thriving and open, and there is peace. Also Bellarke are married. Obviously.
Bonus: Harry Potter Favorites
Words Like Smoke - Sirius/Remus, 6k, MWPP / AU
It's almost Christmas, and Sirius is missing again. James and Remus come up with a brilliant plan to keep track of him.
Or, a 1920's/post-WWI AU in which the wizarding community rejects magic, Remus makes maps in his spare time, and Sirius suffers from invisible scars.
Or, a love story.
A favorite because: I wrote this in college after reading Mrs. Dalloway and honestly I feel like that’s pretty much all I have to say about that. (Seriously this is probably one of the best things I’ve ever written though.)
Elegy - Sirius/Remus, 2.3k, OotP-era
Remus wrote poetry. Sirius finds it. Dinner is burned, dishes are rattled, the ceiling has mysterious stains, and Remus quotes John Donne.
A favorite because: I miss my favorite dysfunctional wizards. I reread this yesterday and legitimately got teary at the end.
Burning Straight Down - Sirius/Remus, 2.1k, First War Era
Sirius, sleepless and twisted inside; and Remus, feeling down on himself again; and the summer, heat waves and Death Eater attacks and letters from home.
A favorite because: I mean, as above, pretty much. An experiment in style that I think, with 10+ years of hindsight, worked.
...So I’m pretty sure everyone has already been tagged in this so if you haven’t and want to do it, do it and tag me! I always need more lists of fics to someday get around to reading... (That sounds sarcastic but it is not. I really do love seeing everyone’s favorite works floating around.)
