 Narnia, has died at Moskvarium (est. 17 years old).  The cause of death was intestinal volvulus.  The press release does not issue the date of death, but its presumed to have occurred in January 2023.  More details will be posted if they are released. Narnia was captured on  August 11, 2012 in Reyneke Bay, Sea of Okhotsk, Russia.

Something that I think about a lot is how Phoenix's reputation evolves, because he starts out as the kid with no friends who would stand up to him, to the puppylike college student who got acquitted of the murder of another student and immediately changed the course of his life to become a lawyer, to the guy who interns under one of the greatest defense attorneys since Gregory Edgeworth, to the guy who took over her practice and defeated the demon prosecutor in one fell swoop, the guy who took down the powerful CEO guy who literally blackmailed a bunch of people to suicide and killed a woman with his own hands to keep the truth from getting out and Phoenix went after him in his first case that he took by himself.

The guy who confronted the mafia (twice?) and was the one defense attorney to take the case of said demon prosecutor to go against another unbeatable unethical prosecutor and he did it with a parrot and a single piece of evidence. He defended the chief prosecutor and took down the corrupt chief of police and that's just the first game.

Imagine the press following this guy. You know when you attend a trial where Phoenix is the defense there's going to be some Crazy Shit going on. He will leave his current trial to interrupt another trial and he gets popular enough that someone impersonates him and to the point where an assassin blackmails him into taking a case and this motherfucker still tricks them into incriminating themselves. He exorcises a ghost who has a personal vendetta against him in court and by the end of the trilogy is really well known for the most mindblowing crazy shit and then it all comes crumbling down like two months later.

The most sensational defense attorney is dethroned and adopts his disappearing defendant's daughter and I like to think that when he gets involved with underground poker and starts toeing the line between the criminal world and the one he knows he discovers that he has a reputation there already too. You cannot tell me guy who kind of made friends with Viola Cadaverini is not on the mafia's radar at least somewhat. He got Dee Vasquez arrested and was the one guy not afraid to poke at people associated with Cadaverini, who the entire police force won't dare touch.

it just wouldn't be surprising to me if he unknowingly garnered some street cred, especially if he's seen around Kristoph and Edgeworth, a guy who calmly makes sure he never loses his cases and someone who literally has a reputation as a demon. I just think it would be so funny if people were a little afraid of beanix, just because of what he's heard about him. He's never been violent or anything, but he's dangerous in much less tangible ways. He builds a vibe around him that makes him seem kinda threatening even if there's no proof that he's ever retaliated against anyone.

He stays calm even when he's being put on trial for a murder and in the courtroom there's a feeling that everything is being played like a game to him. He should be in the most vulnerable position but he's entirely in control. He's been an undefeated poker player for seven years and no one but his daughter can even guess about what he's thinking.

Just... the outward mysterious act and infamous reputation that grows beyond Phoenix's control that makes it when he gets back into law kind of hilarious when you think about it. The guy everyone was a little nervous around in the basement of a russian bar/restaurant is now a lawyer again and the first thing he does is defend an orca. The publicity around this guy has to be insane in combination with the whispers in the shadows. It is simply funny to me.

Monkeydawn: can't remember why i made him a colour point- Warrior cat names are a pirate thing, and Dawn is exclusive to the Ds. The ribbon is basically the strawhat here, given by Redscar (i didn't like the look of hats on cats-). Leader of Strawclan but he's bad at names so everyone named themselves

Mossthorn: gray oriental cat. Formerly named Thorn the Fox, Moss is a joke from Snail but also his favorite colour so- He's Clan deputy and a knife wielder, the harness is to keep them on his back.

Waveberry: long hair calico cat. Formerly named Wave, and was Wavestorm in the fishcats' clan. Berries are still a currency here but it sounded better than trying to fit Tangerine in her name. First warrior of the clan and terrain painter. Oh and there's Cloudstar too (names in -star are deities names)

Pebbleflight: black tabby cat. Formerly Pebble and had too many ideas for his pirate name. He grows poisonous plants for projectiles. Wanted as Flyingspark and then Pebblestar (he also has a star on his forehead like WC leaders have in fanarts!)

Snailswirl: Turkish van. Snail is a name he was given by Redleg (such a joke for a french cook but i love it), and Swirl is a joke from Moss. He's both a warrior and a med cat, his cooking experiments helping with faster recoveries.

Antlerfall: Neko no mi, model: lynx. Was named like a pirate by med cat Cherrytree, as his antlers disappear in his full lynx form. He's actually taller than most of the crew in all his forms. The one and only med reindeer !

Ravenbloom: russian blue. Went by the name Newmoon in Baroque Works, and is wanted as "Devilkit". She took back her childhood name Raven when joining the clan. Six legged most of the time because come on it's useful. Studies the extinction of humans (the existence of humans is still to be proven)

Blueflame: blue Mainecoon. Formerly named Littleflame, and renamed Blue by Iceberg, mixed both names when joining the crew. Lost his tail and badly injured his paws in the train accident, so the cyborg part is more like an exoskeleton. And hey, being six legged is fun. Assigned builder of the crew.

Whalesong: Siberian cat. Had his name from the black and white pattern of his fur making him look like an orca, and it fits with Laboon! So yes he is wearing his own fur because of course. His soul form also look like a typical starclan spirit fanarts, and starclan is an old pirate legend here.

Sharkstrike: fishcat! I'm so close to make a whole speculative evolution project about fishcats, but basically, they are cats if they had taken the same evolutionary path as whales. He's not a shark, he's still "just" a cat, but most fishcats are named after sea creatures.

Coronation Dress

So, you may know that for a while now I've been designing the Kingdom of Anchorage and Kodiak, a kingdom in southwest Alaska run by a Native American Orthodox dynasty in a post-apocalyptic world. As part of that, I'm sharing the coronation dress* of its founder figure, Queen Abigail, and looking for opinions from my female followers and other women and girls here.

The base layer is a chemise, and above that are tie-on pockets, a corset (not tightlaced) and the frame for a hoop skirt, covered with a petticoat and a sleeveless smock. All of these cloth layers are made of white silk. For footwear, there are a pair of cream buckskin moccasins covered with blue and turquoise beadwork and with white fur around the tops.

The skirt is layered; the bottom layer is light blue and fringed with beadwork in the shapes of forget-me-nots and northern bluebells, the middle layer is medium blue and fringed with beadwork in the same patterns, while the top layer is dark blue and fringed with beadwork in the shapes of ravens and orcas (respectively very important to the Koyukon people Abigail comes from and the national symbol of Alaska), and alternating raven, snow goose and golden eagle feathers projecting out from the waist, which also has a cloth-of-gold sash tied around it. This layer is also made of silk

The bodice (made of dark blue silk) is decorated with beadwork patterns in the shape of a raven on the right and an orca on the left. It is fastened with buttons at the front, with buttons made of mammoth ivory and carved in the shape of various animals; descending from the top, a raven with spread wings, a leaping orca, a reindeer seen from the side, a standing bear, a moose seen from the side, a leaping salmon and an eagle with spread wings. The shoulders are large and puffed and use sleeve supports, and the arms are wholly covered between them and a pair of bicep-length white gloves made of the leather of young Dall sheep, fastened with mammoth ivory buttons.

The hair is tied back into a bun with a hairnet, and covered with a veil of dark blue silk fringed with gold, worn in the style of a mantilla. A string of pearls are wrapped tightly around the neck, and there is a shell necklace spread over the chest of the same make as this one.

There is also a long dark blue cloak which drapes along the ground, with the monarch's seal sewn into it with gold thread, fastened with silver clasps in the shape of ravens.

Instead of a crown, there is a diadem made of navy fabric, fringed with gold thread; in the centre is the national coat of arms, with the monarch’s seal (both described below) on either side. The diadem is fastened at the back with gold clasps in the shape of bears, with dark blue silken tappets embroidered with the names of family saints in gold thread. From the back and side are strings of circular beads made out of amethyst (directly against the back of the neck), fluorite (on either side of the amethyst beads) and obsidian (against the side of the head).

The coat of arms contains an orca on a Norman-style shield with a dark blue field, with a gold band above and one beneath the orca, and gold around it. Crossed behind it is a harpoon leaning left and a Russian cross leaning right, topped by a raven with spread wings with the Orthodox Christogram above it. The supporters are bears, and the dark green ground beneath it contains forget-me-nots and crowberries.

The monarch's seal consists of a Greek cross, with the corners containing (clockwise from top left) MP ΘΟΥ (the standard Orthodox abbreviation of "Mother of God"), IC XC (the standard Orthodox abbreviation of "Jesus Christ"), a ligature of βδλ (the consonants of basileia, "kingdom") above AK (Anchorage and Kodiak) and AL LD (Abigail's initials; her surname is Littlefield).

Eccentric Romance is certainly a show, and I am enjoying it for what it is. It's also interesting to see how they're dealing with the Korean/Thai language barrier by just.... ignoring it. Jay speaks Thai with occasional Korean honorifics, and Seonghun (and everyone else) speaks Korean. Jiwon is studying Thai, but she doesn't speak with Jay in it. Even outside characters just understand him. It's an interesting way to tell the story.

I wonder how the actors felt during filming and what their scripts looked like. They don't have a common writing system. Hangul and Thai script are wildly different, but I assume you'd want your actors to know what the other person is saying, so translation. But acting to someone saying something you only have the gist of has to be nuts.

I don't think we're going to get any depth regarding culture clash or linguistic traps, which is a bummer because I love both of those things, but it's just fun to watch. Especially compared to First Note of Love, where the Thai/Mandarin barrier between Reese and Orca is a big part of their love story. It's another obstacle they overcome and work around together and shows how they care for one another as they learn each other's mother tongue.

To me (Midwestern American who only knows English and v basic Russian), both of these are nice ways to train my ear in how the separate languages sound next to each other and how to identify them.

Mandarin (Hokkien, too? That's the one I am most confused about identifying since it's so tied to Mandarin) sounds chewy. Like it's all in the back of the throat, and the tongue and teeth have very little to do. Japanese sounds like it's all in the head voice and rapid. Some Japanese hosts of variety shows make me think of Telemundo- same machine gun delivery and passion. Thai is very nasal, and I don't want to say "whiny," but that same dragged out feel. Korean has that as well, but comes from the chest. "Naaaaaaaa??" And "whhhheyy??"- exact tone feel, different octaves.

Tl;dr- language is fun, and I am amused with how it's being played with, and want to hear a smarter person to discuss all the differences.

Character Summary:

Sergey is someone who is usually seen to be carefree and outgoing, a lot of people call him a social butterfly and easy to approach. He is funny, and lighthearted and likes to take things not as serious, or overdramatisize them for effect. But as with Ava, waters are deeper than expected and this is especially true for Sergey. He can be very cynical and cruel, heartless even and fatalistic at times, the switch between his lighter persona and his more scary self being jarring to many. He harbors the belief that the world is tainted and has no point for salvation but that it is possible to make the small worlds that one person inhabits be bright and meaningful. He is very pc and makes sure to be as naturally inclusive as possible, as he learned this all from his extensive family. He has a special soft spot for women, especially younger than him, considering allmost all of his halfsiblings are women, especially younger than him. It seems to trigger some form of big brother instinct that he iron clawed follows.

Fighting Style

Sergey is known as the fastest Swordsman, which isn't a funny innuendo epiphet but the closest describtion one can give to this mans insane Speed. It seems that no matter what he moves at the speed of light, always able to zip around the whole place and escape opponents, while he makes his own attacks in return. This special technique is thanks to a specific trick that he figured out over a few years of practice.

He is a formidable swordsman, specializing in fencing and wielding a rapier which only makes his speed all the more annoying to combat for opponents, his strikes are precise and always aimed at vital spots in the human body. His technique is near flawless and despite relying mostly on his rapier he is also able to wield heftier swords.

A very vital point of Sergeys combat is his psychological play with his opponent, using his wits and speech to provoke his opponet into making mistakes.

In the most dire of situation Sergey uses one of his two additional boxes. "Oberon" is the name of his swecond sword, a more traditional european longsword that gives his swings more heft and changes his fighting style into being more confrontational. His second box is an animal box weapon, an orca, that uses a LOT of flame energy to be called forth which is why it is usually only used in emergencies.

Trivia

Sergey has collectively 10 half siblings of which 2 turned out to be trans. Before that it was a running joke that he was the guy with the 10 sisters for all ocassions. ("Ser you have the chance to be the funniest person in this family")

Sergey keeps close and good contact with all his sisters, especially his older ones.

Once for an undercover mission he pretended to get married to Leo, however it turned out to be a legally binding marriage and they just went with it. They don’t see any real issues with it.

Of his family 4 of his sisters have also relations with the mafia. The oldest Maria married a mafioso (and Ser is 2 steps away from committing murder bc the guy keeps neglecting his sister and their child), second oldest Chloe is actually a bodyguard of a smaller families heires, one of his younger sisters used to date a mafia heir, but they split up and she kept being friends with the guys friendcircle and one is actually in the inteligence branch of the Vongola

Despite Sergey always having his hair tied together he gets often mistaken for Captain Squalo for some reason

All of Sergeys hairties and scrunchies are presents from his siblings and he takes good care of them.

Sergey has been in an unofficial poll been voted place 1 on the most approachable ranking and place 3 on the "most aggravating" list

He has good relations with pretty much all his Second in Comand collegues.

Despite the good pay, Sergey always seems a bit short on cash, because he always keeps up with his siblings and friends birthdays, plus of course holidays like valentines day and the winter holidays

Shorts weather goes crazy, it’s been 50-60° up here lately and lord it’s so hot, but summer is usually 70-90°+ and I hope it stays 70

I think. Alaska’s favorite color would be blue. I have reasons.

For one, a lot of his state symbols are blue, and I’ve always associated ptarmigans with a soft light bluish greenish cuz my elementary school was fantastic and lovely and the school’s color was that and their mascot is the ptarmigan, it’s a native school

Second, he likes space… which has a lot of blue usually, I’m not really sure tho

Third, if he’s a whale expert he probably really likes sea creatures, not to mention having more coast than the whole lower 48 combined and surrounded by three seas and two oceans; plus, moose are known to actually love to swim so much so that orcas are one of their predators

I looked at a ton of native beading and kuspuks and a very very common color was blue and purple, I’m assuming it’s cuz it contrasts with the usually fur made clothing (I think Maine has gifted Alaska with really nice beads before, hopefully as a bonus they were not plastic, thatd be pretty cool)

lastly, blue isn’t really known to be an overwhelming color? I’m not too sure, but it’s usually known as a calm color, I think Alaska would appreciate that

Another Alaska hc is that Alaska used to be bad with alcohol. I read Russians introduced natives to hard liquor to gain advantages over them, in leading to generational trauma.

Alaska was probably introduced to it when he was young and he figured drinking was the only thing making his suffering by their hands a little more bearable each drop he took. And maybe throughout his lawless territory era it was still pretty bad and eventually during mushing (i imagine he took up a mushing mailing job cuz it kept him away from people the most) he got pretty injured cuz of it and he then realized then that if he continued like that he may accidentally get one of his dogs hurt and that scared him. He wasn't really bad towards anyone when he drank tho, just very shut down i imagine. But now i think he can handle drinking well, but tries to make sure of what and how much he drinks (my excuse for this is that Alaska has strict drinking laws, its illegal to even get drunk in a bar, but i think thats for the better. The roads are dangerous enough as is) as per the awa'uq massacre, awa'uq means "to become numb" and i think that would be how Alaska would describe what it was like for him during those times
