it's really weird having a first dog be blind and then getting a second who can see...like how was I supposed to be prepared for this.

I walk around at night and I shine my flash light directly into her eyes and I'll just be standing there staring at her weird blue orbs for like 5 seconds until I realize it's probably extremely annoying to her, because she has eyes!! very fun interaction I've been seeing online is Americans commenting on German posts in shock because they think "diggah" is related to the n-word, and then Germans patiently explaining to them that no, actually, it's a version of "Dicker" ("a fat guy") and functions either like "bro (affectionate)" or "dude (derogatory)"

You know what? It’s fucking hard trying to get better. It’s exhausting managing doctors appointments, doing daily PT exercises, eating better, trying to exercise, trying to meditate, and doing ADL’s. I have had a bad crash per week trying to juggle and do all of the above.

It’s easier and less acutely painful to just coast and not actively work on ‘getting better’. Is the work worth it? I don’t know yet.

But to people who’ve tried and given up, to those who don’t even bother - you still deserve care and compassion.
