Consider this: an au in which the Wen win the war because A-Yao didn't spy on them. JGS gifts JGY to WRH as a war prize so WRH doesn't burn down Carp Tower.
I'm definitely considering!! 👀
Ok ok, I can totally see this as a sort of scenario in which JGS actually acknowledges JGY when he went to look for him or at some point before the war, probably as a spare in case something happened to JZX, but of course JGY was never treated like an actual son, so his dedication to prove himself to his father is still there.
Then came the war and bc he's already a Jin, jiggy didn't go on his spy mission so the war was lost and as a way to placate WRH and as a token of Lanling's loyalty, JGS gave him JGY in a sorta hostage situation. I'm pretty sure JGS would have put on an entire scene about how precious his most beloved A-Yao is to convince WRH that he's getting a good deal and some actual leverage over the Jin. However, JGY would know to play into the role bc he wants to make dad love him and be proud of him, so his "mission" now is to get in WRH's good graces to grant the Jin favor --it really is mostly just to survive long enough to keep on the pretense that he is valuable to the Jin and just let WRH do whatever he wants to him.
Since we all know that JGY can actually very much get in WRH's good graces, I can see the scenario playing out better than JGS expected, but so long as jiggy is loyal to the Jin first and foremost, there is no need to worry about the closeness there, it's a very good thing in fact!
I doubt this would be a torturer sort of thing in this case bc the war is over... or maybe it will, considering all the prisoners the Wen must have now. Or perhaps a more politcal thing, like helping manage all the new provinces and territories idk.
Also the whole being raised in a brothel thing if we are going for a more typical spoil of war situation~
In any case, I'm not sure what sort of outcome you envision for this AU, but I'm fully being myself here, and going for one in which JGY feels much more appreciated with the Wen than with the Jin, so at some point he stops thinking about Lanling first and legit starts to do what's best for Qishan.
Now, I also think it'd be funny af if WRH knew all along that JGY means nothing to JGS, and while he's pissed at JGS for giving him such a "lowly" offering, it's purely bc of how little value JGY actually holds to the Jin, but the boy is eager to prove himself and well, WRH can always just send his head back to Lanling.
But he won't.
Bc JGY is a Good Boy and he's going to keep him.
Also bc it's hilarious to see JGS bending backwards to pretend that he cares about his bastard :'D

Does anyone else have this idea about Wēn Ruòhán and Mèng Yáo's relationship where it was over-six-feet-tall Wēn Ruòhán seeing just-barely-over-five-foot-and-also-so-skinny-he-looked-like-he-would-break-in-the-wind Mèng Yáo and, instead of his prey drive activating (because, let's be honest here, he totally has a prey drive) it's his protective instincts? And that's how Mèng Yáo got so close to him?

I'm trying to write the most NieYao-centric content on AO3
Will be updated as I go
Elegy of the Night : 8.1K, NR, NieYao (childhood trauma, violence, verbal abuse)
While staying in Qinghe, Nie Mingjue learns that Meng Yao once played the qin.
Adolesco aeternum : 63K, E, RuoYao, NieYao & XiYao (attempted r*pe/noncon, blood/gore, torture)
“Meng Yao, tell me, why should I trust the word of a traitorous dog?” Meng Yao steadies himself. “Because Clan Leader Nie and Clan Leader Jin humiliated me. And I sense His Excellency to be a man of a—different, higher caliber.” He isn’t so sure whether his words are lies anymore. “I can be of great service to you,” he says in earnest, lifting his face. -- Meng Yao is Wen Ruohan’s right-hand man; his head torturer; his confidante; and something… more. He fears it will end the same way: cast out and forgotten, broken and used, should his intentions ever be discovered. As it stands, Wen Ruohan is the keeper of his heart, his shining sun—his savior. And as the war rages on, Meng Yao becomes more unsure of where his true loyalties lie.
With my heart in the palm of your hand : 6.5K, E (bdsm/kink, sexual content, trauma)
Curious about the appeal of being a submissive, Nie Mingjue asks Meng Yao to take control during sex. Meng Yao unveils more than he bargained for.
The ocean's face : 83K, E (r*pe/noncon, blood/torture, graphic violence, sexual content)
If Huaisang gives himself away now, Meng Yao thought, Clan Leader Nie will never forgive me. “You must be Wen Xu,” he forced himself to utter. His throat was parched, drier than the landscape, but from that strain he shook an accent deeper, defiant enough to be a young master of the Nie household. Wen Xu smiled at him coolly, walking closer. “Indeed I am,” the Wen heir confessed. “The same that laid waste to Cloud Recesses all those years ago.” He crouched down to be level with Meng Yao on the ground, an elbow on one knee, and smiled at him patronizingly. “All the good Clan Leader Nie’s intervention did to stop it. By which of course, I mean, none.” Meng Yao lurched forward threateningly. He did not have to feign the rage in his heart to solidify his attackers’ false deductions. -- Mistaken for Nie Huaisang, Meng Yao is kidnapped by the Wen. Nie Mingjue and Huaisang must justify going after him, though there are many in Qinghe and Qishan who believe Meng Yao is unworthy and replaceable. Nie Mingjue is determined to bring him home – but will Meng Yao be the same when he returns?
Bathtime : 6.7K, M (fluff, smut, slow-burn)
Meng Yao is eager to please his new superior. Nie Mingjue is the one who promoted him to his current position to be able to afford such luxuries, after all. When Clan Leader Nie makes it a habit for them to share a weekly bath, however, Meng Yao hesitates over the man’s true intentions all along.
Tracing the Bounds of Your Flames : 63K, E (dubcon, mild noncon, graphic violence)
Demonic cultivation demands a heavy toll from the heartiest souls. None recover, even when trained to combat its malefic influence since their youth. Nie Mingjue knows this well, yet Meng Yao can only see him as the enigmatic clan leader, the man with an exterior so cold he has no idea why Nie Mingjue saved his life at all. Ensnared in a discipline and authority that threatens to devour them both, will Meng Yao be able to let go of his past, or will he destroy everything he holds dear in the process of trying to gain control?
Within these Walls : 1.7K, E (dubcon)
Nie Mingjue gave Meng Yao his home, his life, his bed. But it wasn’t meant to last. He went too far – a mistake he would pay for the rest of his life.
Other MDZS:
Devotion : SongXueXiao, XueXiao & SongXiao focus, 2.8K, M
Song Lan and Xue Yang killed each other in Yi City. So Xiao Xingchen ventures into the underworld to find them.
Painting You : SangCheng, background NieYao, 10.7K, M
“What’s so stupid about it?” Huaisang snaps. “Every sect leader needs someone to help them run things, even my…” Even my brother, once. Jiang Cheng rounds on him. “Oh yeah? Then what about you? Now that you’re Sect Leader Nie, you’ll need to find yourself a wife.” Huaisang laughs. “Jiang-xiong, you should know I could never marry. Not a woman, at least.” He says it lightly, half expecting Jiang Cheng to laugh along with him, but Jiang Cheng’s back goes stiff as a rod. He leans visibly away. “What? You mean you’re a… a cut-sleeve?!” Huaisang guffaws, hoarse and loud. He bats his eyelashes, crested with tears, and rolls one shoulder toward Jiang Cheng as he snatches up his fan. “Why of course, Jiang-xiong. Surely, you already knew.” Apparently, Jiang Cheng did not already know.
Droplets on your qin : NieLan, 5.2K, M
It’s been a long time since Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue were able to catch up. They make the most of their time while they can.
I weep & say goodnight : SongXueXiao, SongXue focus, 4.6K, M
The world is ending, and Xue Yang is offered to the heavens as a sacrificial lamb. In his final moments, will he be able to live out his fantasy of sharing in death with his two most intimate adversaries, or will they all fade into nothing in the face of total annihilation?

Rarepair April! Yaaay!!! >w<
So! For the past couple weeks I've been working a lot with Gotcha for Gaza and another event, writing some oneshots for prompts, and the wonderful rare ships I was asked about are just so cute!!
So, for those already lost on just what I have and haven't written (me included), here's the recent Rarepair Festival >w<
🚢Wen Chao / Wen Zhuliu🚢
Shouting was heard from the ancestral hall of Lotus Pier. Which wasn’t too strange on the warmest summer days, when the youngest disciples took refuge in the cool shade and played games (making them grow quite rowdy), ensuing the even louder screams from the closest responsible adult that came to yell at them young irreverent ruffians.
Ah, but it wasn’t summer anymore, and the shouting now was far from joyful. Also, all the disciples were dead.
From: A helping hand, a nsfw nasty little dub-con because if Wen-er-gongzi discovers he likes being spanked, can his faithful bodyguard actually refuse? (he should and he almost does! XD)
Tumblr media
🚢Nie Huaisang/Lan Wangji🚢
Lan Xichen eyes nervously the other members of the meeting. Judging by the little monitors on his screen, no one else seems to be noticing that Wangji is having some sort of inappropriate fun right now, thank God. Although he can’t understand why, since it’s so obvious…
But well, Lan Xichen has been long aware that, for some reason, he seems to be the only person able to read Wangji’s solemn expression, which Jin Guangyao has called on some occasion “the most perfect poker face” he’s ever seen.
From: Just another corporate secret, a naughty Lan Wangji / Nie Huaisang from the pov of Lan Xichen, that gets in an online meeting and realizes what's going on under his brother's table.
Tumblr media
🚢Jin Guangyao / Nie Huaisang🚢
“Tell me, a-Yao…”
The tinkle of golden wrist bells rang soft and delicate, glittering against the dark golden silks of the bed. The light was low and the perfumed incense thick, and there was a heavy suggestion of alcohol in the room.
Enough to make Nie Huaisang’s voice pass for something even more light and feminine.
“…have you been a good boy?”
“Yes, a-niang.”
From: Tell it to your mumsy, a nsfw HuaiYao where a drunk Jin Guangyao misses his mum very, very much (and Nie Huaisang takes advantage of that to learn all his little secrets >w<)
Tumblr media
🚢Jin Guangyao / Wen Ruohan🚢
“Show me what do you do to them. The prisoners.” Wen Ruohan sat calmly on a wooden chair, which the local guard had very wisely left free the second he saw those two turning the corner of the corridor.
Meng Yao’s voice didn’t betray his thoughts, but even so the sightliest hesitation dripped through. He looked at the prison guards, still lounging by the nearest cell.
“As your Excellency wishes, but… Here?”
“Here.”
“Wouldn’t it be more suitable to... perform such acts in the comfort of your Excellency's bed?”
“Here, a-Yao.”
From: Keep an ace up your sleeve (it will come handy) a very nsfw insight at some special methods Meng Yao came up with to torture prisoners during his internship with the Wen...
Tumblr media
Lastly, not a ship but a very special pair I hold very dear to my heart...
🍃Xiao Xignchen & Cangse Sanren🍃
Cangse Sanren put her arm around Xiao Xingchen’s shoulder and her voice took a conspiratorial tone.
“You too, you must get yourself a good and reliable cultivation partner, do you hear? Like that young man you fought with. What's his name? Song Something."
"Zichen."
"Whatever. If you like him, tie the knot as fast as possible. Life is so short, and so precious!”
Xiao Xingchen could have blushed, if it wasn’t because he had lost quite a lot of blood and was feeling a bit light-headed.
“Shijie, please, don’t tease…” he said hiding a smile.
From: Relentless in love (and dodging nettles), where Xiao Xingchen comes across a mischievous spirit and realizes she is non other than his legendary martial sister...
Tumblr media
There! Now I'm up to date with the weird shit I've written lately XD

me when people make fun of the qin exam scene in episode 11 of the double: sorry you don't get transported to the altai mountains to chill with flying geese or into a xianxia setting to defeat the devil whenever you see and hear beautiful women shredding on a qin.

this relationship between the emperor and his favorite concubine is something else. because apparently she was his DAD'S concubine and she reminds him of his mom...he's like you're the only connection i have to my mother (presumably because she was friends with his mom, because they were concubines of the same guy, and because after his mom died she used to take care of him and make him the food his mom used to make him because she "loves children") and i'm sitting there like 😬 ok where are we going with this. then i get to the end of the show and discover they weren't going anywhere with it in particular. they were just like, we want this guy to have a mommy complex and we want you to know about it. okay. thanks i guess...

Secret Fandom Confession
I like Wen Ruohan and Meng Yao as a rare pair ship. I don't think they would be end game but my headcanon is that Wen Ruohan may have been one of the few people to appreciate Meng Yao for what he was and not judge him for it.
In my dead duck headcanons, Meng Yao sincerely appreciates the acknowledgment and definitely finds Wen Ruohan darkly attractive and feels very conflicted about it. He still kills him but they do have some steamy red room moments before then.
(dead duck, i love it)
i also ship it, anon, with my usual caveat attached that there’s not much canon support for it. but you’re so right that there is just so much potential in that relationship no matter how one chooses to interpret it; meng yao being the only person in wen ruohan’s court who doesn’t have to approach him literally on his knees; wen ruohan leaning forward on his throne during meng yao’s confrontation with nie mingjue, looking as though he wishes to intervene to protect meng yao from nie mingjue; just the duration of time that they spend in each other’s company ‘off-screen,’ as it were, developing a relationship the details of which we’ll just never be privy to; and then there’s jgy’s confession during the guanyin temple confrontation where he claims responsibility for killing his ‘teacher.’ who else but wrh could possibly qualify?

I love the idea of ruoyao having a large age gap but that being the least weird thing about them
The dadson rp? Public sex? Yeah the age gap is fine and dandy
That's the beauty of this ship!
You see this little guy with a man old enough to be his father and you automatically think of how problematic that is, but if you look closer you discover all the other nonsense these two are about!
You have MY generally acting as impulse control bc if you lose sight of WRH for too long someone's gonna get hurt, but you can't focus solely on WRH bc you won't see MY coming from behind you, but you can't confront MY bc he gets stabby under pressure and if you go say something about it to WRH he's only going to praise MY's quick thinking and stab you again bc surely MY had a good reason in the first place. MY will play by the rules for the most part, but WRH will make the rules, and then MY will convince you that it's a good thing actually.
They call each other dad/son while almost humping ther other's leg in public. They will end your entire career if you look at them funny. They are a vicious cycle of enabling the other's good, bad and illegal ideas with one being too scary and the other too scheme-y to ever face any real consequence, and they will do all that in-between making out.
So yeah, the age gap should be the least of your concerns :')

You know what would be a good dynamic in a RuoYao sunshot fails AU? This:
Meng Yao: I hate being touched
Wen Qing: but uncle is literally clinging to you right now?
Meng Yao, genuinely believes that he is Unlovable due to who his mother was because that is all he has ever known from the Literal Day He Was Born and was reinforced by the Stairs incident: this means nothing.
Wen Ruohan, desperately trying to marry him: :(
