Brazilian music taught me to enjoy the beauty of guitars, back then I used to think guitars were boring instruments, but when I started to listen to samba, bossa nova and choro, that's when I began to understand how beautiful can guitars be, suddenly I noticed the magic behind a guitar. About this song in particular, there are so many things to point out, the one-of-a-kind guitar skills and style, the remarkable drums and the unforgettable flute solo, all are indeed pieces of a classic.

Called jazz-fusion back in 1979 this Album released by Sony Music in 1979 made some waves.

Ryo Kawasaki was already famous because of his playing with Gil Evans and Elvin Jones. No one knew me. So being featured was a very big deal.

Recorded at Power Station Studio in New York City in 1979 the album contains compositions by Ryo and vocals by me. I also wrote most of the lyrics on this album.

THIS IS NOT ASTRUD GILBERTO. She and Joao were long divorced when this album was recorded in 1976.  According to Wikipedia: "Stan Getz and João Gilberto recorded a version on their joint album The Best of Two Worlds (1976), with Portuguese lyrics sung by Gilberto and English lyrics sung by Miúcha, Gilberto's wife at the time."
