built in babysitter for her family, which she wasn't very good at. she was more interested in school more than anything.

much more fluent in english than a lot of her friends, due to her interest in studying. she was always very good at science and math, which one of her teachers later encouraged her to peruse. her family was incredibly reluctant at first, but soon realized that was best for their only daughter.

Η ιστορία του Mr. Zara θα μπορούσε άνετα να “γυριστεί” σε ταινία, αλλά και να διδάξει τις μετέπειτα γενιές των νέων, επίδοξων επιχειρηματιών. Από το πρώτο κατάστημα Zara στην κορυφή της fast fashion βιομηχανίας Οταν το 1975, ο Amancio Ortega με τη σύζυγό του, Rosalia Mera (παντρεύτηκαν το 1966), άνοιγαν το πρώτο τους κατάστημα Zara στο κέντρο της Λα Κορούνια, στην Ισπανία, δεν φαντάζονταν, ούτε στα πιο τρελά όνειρά τους, που θα τους οδηγούσε στο μέλλον, αυτή η τολμηρή κίνησή τους. Μάλιστα, η αρχική επιλογή της επωνυμίας δεν ήταν εξ’ αρχής Zara, αλλά Zorba, με έμπνευση από την θρυλική ταινία “Zorba the Greek”. Οταν όμως ο Ortega είδε ότι μερικά μέτρα πιο κάτω, υπήρχε ένα bar με την ίδια επωνυμία, αναγκάστηκε να αλλάξει το όνομα και επειδή είχε ήδη αγοράσει τα καλούπια με τ�� γράμματα, αρκέστηκε σε αυτό που είχε ήδη, και έτσι κατέληξε στην ονομασία ZARA. Δέκα χρόνια μετά, ο Ortega κατάφερε όχι απλά να πολλαπλασιάσει τα κέρδη της επιχείρησής του, αλλά και να ιδρύσει την εταιρεία χαρτοφυλακίου Inditex, στην οποία ενσωμάτωσε τη Zara και μετέπειτα και τα υπόλοιπα brands.

Το 1986, Ortega και Mera αποφάσισαν να προχωρήσουν σε διαζύγιο, όμως η Mera παρέμεινε ο δεύτερος μεγαλύτερος μέτοχος της εταιρείας τους, μέχρι και τον θάνατό της το 2013 (ήταν 69 ετών). Τότε, η κόρη τους Sandra, εκτός από τον τίτλο της πλουσιότερης γυναίκας στην Ισπανία, κληρονόμησε από τη μητέρα της και τις μετοχές της στον όμιλο. Πλέον, η Sandra, αν και απέχει από την επιχείρηση των γονιών της, ελέγχει το 5% των μετοχών της Inditex, ενώ η περιουσία της εκτιμάται γύρω στα €6,5 δισεκατομμύρια.
