This is actually contested between the two of them.

Gai says their first date was when they were 28. Gai asked Kakashi out to dinner to their favorite place. After that they went to the training field to spar, walked around the village, laid in the grass to look up at the stars, and Kakashi ended up falling asleep wirh his head on Gai’s shoulder.

Gai brought a blanket so the two happily slept their for the night.

It was a successful first date.

Kakashi however, insists that their first date was when he was still in Root. Kakashi went through great pain’s to make sure no one followed him and Danzo had no idea where he was, cuz he would have gotten into a lot of trouble if Danzo knew Gai was aware that he was still alive.

They didn’t do anything big. Just stayed in one place talking for the entire night until Kakashi can see that Gai’s about to fall asleep.

At that point Kakashi tells Gai he should get back, but Gai tries to insist he’s fine cuz he’s jot sure when he’ll get to see Kakashi again.

It ends up that Gai falls asleep against Kakashi, and after carrying him back to his apartment and getting him into his bed Kakashi leaves some forget me nots on his desk

He calls it the best night he could have asked for in such a dark time of his life

So, i got ‘Root Au’

And honestly i kinda like it. Shizune is a poison expert, so i could see her excelling in that area and becoming a useful tool for Danzo because of her ability to look sweet and innocent while poisoning someone’s drink/food (or just in general poisoning them)

She has that really sweet aloof persona but when she needs to be serious she is actually very terrifying. She also works hard on improving her taijutsu just in case and often lets other root operatives target her with their attacks for dual training
