So remembered an animatic that said every Ladybug holder was destined to abandon their Black Cat and they'd never see each other again. So I quickly threw together a set of curses for all the Chinese Box.

Ladybug - They are destined to always die alone with their goals unaccomplished

Black Cat - They are fated to always be abandoned by the person they hold closest

Fox - They are fated to always destroy the person they love most

Turtle - When it counts most they won’t be able to protect those they hold most dear

Bee - They are fated to drive others away at their most vulnerable

Butterfly - They are fated to have their good intentions twisted sour

Peacock - They are fated to put their faith and love into the wrong person and destroy themselves

Snake - At the end of things, they will always end up alone

Dragon - They are fated to never have the strength they most need

Bunny - They are destined to see the worst fates of their friends repeat over and over again with no chance to save them

Tiger - They are destined to always squeeze too tight and break those they love

Pig - Their kindness and desire to help will be their downfall

Mouse - They are fated to feel the weight of every task and eventually be crushed by it

Ox - They are cursed to be destroyed by their own growing doubt

Horse - They are fated to always be a moment too slow and be ruined by it

Monkey - Their happiness will come at the cost of the misery of others

Goat - They will be consumed by their passion and desires

Dog - They will devote their lives to a goal and only in their last moments realize they were wrong

Rooster - The people they hold closest will be unreachable

My rough idea is that the Miraculous of the Chinese Miracle Box are so powerful that their magic naturally backlashes onto the user in the form of a curse. So if someone wears a Miraculous for too long, they will be doomed to the curse even if they take it off.

Rooster bold redesign. I have conflicting feelings about the canon design because it has a lot of really clever details that fit the rooster motif but it also looks goofy to me. I feel like it would look better in a 2D art style but idk. I think the boots are amazing so I definitely kept those with no changes. I personally think the rooster miraculous is the most powerful versatile one. Like the only limits are your own creativity I don’t know how any villain is going to feel like an actual threat when lady bug has the rooster, bee, and ox miraculous on her side so that will be interesting to see.

Will there be polls on all your original kwami designs? Do you plan to redesign canon kwamis?

If there are designs I'm struggling with, then yes, I'll do a poll to help decide on the OC kwamis.

And for a majority of canon kwamis, no. A very small number would get tweaks, like Longg getting dragonfly wings as Longg is now a dragonfly kwami (meant to live up to the pun of the animal, kinda like how Tikki references ladybird with her tail feathers), also changing the big horns to be dark/black as in canon they look like party hats and it was just kinda awkward.

Pollen I'd be tempted to change up her eyes. The yellow irises just doesn't work for me as it's too much yellow. I think going blue against dark blue would've been better, and would've expanded her concept art, which I'm certain they changed her original eyes as it wasn't expressive enough.

Lastly, Orikko is the only other I'd really change up, as I think he wound up with an awkward design over all. And kinda boring. Like, have the designers not looked at roosters? They're some pretty colorful and iconic birds.

And this is just showing off a small handful.

I actually did do an edit to Orikko before, work off Rooster Bold and give the kwami some more color, and to explore a beakless option (as honestly, so far beaks I find are kinda awkward on kwamis, we see from Plagg that kwamis can open their mouth pretty big but a beak limits that, plus you got Duusu coming in initially showing no beaks, so I'd rather try and work off that detail Duusu came with design wise for bird kwamis).

So this I'd be tempted to do for Orikko instead.

...And if I was to try and aim with keeping the Og 7 together, then I suppose I could roll with Turtle being more cyan/turquoise. Cause I will say, technically the Miraculous itself is more blue-green than green, so doing that color tweak isn't much of a stretch. I'd probably do a little more green than the edits I did before.

Otherwise there's not much else I'd really change... uh, kwamis that do have black on them are going to be more of an incredibly dark purple (like Pagg and Ziggy, maybe Kaalki unless I go with the more reddish brown).

With Eagle official there is the matter with Liiri, she may be kept for Eagle or maybe she'll get a little tweak and be an Owl instead? But I'm not quite there yet designing wise. I'm more likely to do the Eagle Renling but we'll see.

All right this one was quite a tough one to do but here is Rooster!Marinette, before I was gonna do just all orange and stick to Orikkos main color palette which was orange, but I soon found out orange is a hard color to work with and roosters really are colorful birds that have a wide variety of colors! After some research, I figured that the rooster Miraculous is kind of like a fancy miraculous. Rooster bold had a tailcoat sit with a handkerchief and even a waist coat so I went with a kind of Rocco style.

Based it off of this picture:

I altered Orrikos design to so it matched. It was hard making up a name for her so I went with the fancy way, and called her Countess, a title that holds a lot of power in history and in the mind.

What miraculous would you give to Adrien if he couldn’t have the Ladybug or Cat? I wanted to hear your reasoning behind your pick. You said the rooster in one of the tags! I’m really curious to hear why! And if there are any other runnerups

If all headcanons and wisteria-grade artistic license are disregarded, the Dragon suits him the best thematically (it's Perfection, after all), whereas i want to say the Dog suits him the best personality/vibes-wise.

To get into why the Rooster, I'd have to explain the... let's say, "underdeveloped nerd-coding" of Adrien Agreste.

Maybe this is just the pessimist in me, but I feel like I should couch this by saying that with an episodic show like mlb, anything that isn't painstakingly driven in as fact is basically throwaway facts meant to serve the moment and the moment alone.

Adrien's lowest grades being an A-? The morse code moment? The singular instance of him being really good with physics? Could point to him being intelligent, sure, but canon never goes out of its way to suggest that intelligence is one of Adrien's actual traits—quite the opposite in fact, it sometimes makes him come off as an oblivious dumbass. Ladybug is the thinker, after all, while Chat is the action.

Of course, despite this, I enjoy nerdy Adrien a lot, so I take these moments (plus, hello?? he's a canon polyglot???) with more importance. His wordplay, multiple languages, etc, all points to a skill with words. Hell, he's gotten so good at lying due to his environment that we might even be able to rope that in as evidence. He's no Felix, but the kid's got some wit! A miraculous thematically suited for writers could help play to that strength!

As a bit of an added bonus, the Rooster is extremely versatile as a miraculous, and I think Adrien would enjoy the freedom that it gives him. Looking for freedom is his whole thing, after all, isn't it?

As for any others:

Canon seems to want to imply he's not an incredibly creative person, taking into account the times we've seen Mister Bug struggle, so I have my reservations about the Fox. I think it requires a little more creativity than the Rooster does, as the Rooster can work well either with logical-minded people (I need X to win, so I will give myself the power to do X) and those willing to push boundaries and be a bit creative (If I give myself Y, I can do Y, and that helps me with Z...).

As for the worst pick for him, I'd say it would be the Mouse (Sorry, Soirois!). I think the Mouse works well personality wise for the scatter-brained or those oft to multitask (hence Marinette working so well with it), whereas I can't see Adrien being that way.

Turtle and Ox are fairly good picks considering his sacrificial/protective tendencies, but I'd be hesitant to give them to him just because they're kind of one-note in that regard....? At least Dragon and Bee require him to balance his sacrificial tendencies with an obligation to go on the offense, so there's some tension there. If he was given the Turtle/Ox, I'd want to see it mostly in the content of a unification so he has more to work off of—I think tizzymcwizzy did a Tiger/Ox unification concept for Adrien forever ago which I think pulls this off well.

what if instead of adding new heroes after season 2 its just the main 5 being the main characters and the zodiac miraculouses are just backup for them + they can unify it

this is for people who think the other heroes just arent necessary LOL

edit : plot wise, I feel like Bunnix and Viperion were pretty neccessary so I guess you're free to add them probs
