If the whole Ross family were casted and starred in “Smallville”: A Thread
Disclaimer: These are MY opinions, inner thoughts, and head canons. Also, thank you all so much for the love and reblogs on my previous thread series “If I were to cast more black women in Smallville” ! 😘 This thread will also be a mix of canon and head canon. I had this idea because I like Pete Ross as a character and his friendship with Clark. ☺️ I’ve noticed in some episodes that Pete has mentioned his family such his parents and siblings. Pete and Clark have mentioned Pete’s brothers and Pete mentioned he had a sister. I recognize that the series has casted Bill Ross (Father) and Abigail Ross (Mother), but sadly not any of his siblings! I’ve always wanted to know what they would look like, their jobs, and personalities if they were recurring/guest roles on the series, so I made a fan cast of what could’ve been! The names and some background information for these characters also came from the Smallville Wiki. Pete’s sister’s name is originally Kathy, but I think Kate would be better suited if I hc her as his twin.
taglist: @afrowrites @tinyurlamd
i just thought of ya’ll because you’re both excellent writers and inspire me to get more smallville content out there especially for poc!😘
The Ross Family
1. Pete Ross - Sam Jones III
The youngest brother yet the older twin. He’s Clark Kent’s confident, witty, and loyal childhood best friend. Protective brother, respectful son and skillful athlete. He occasionally works for “The Torch” at Smallville High and helps to piece together the weirdness of Smallville with his friends. Pete’s the first person outside of Clark’s parents to know his secret.
Tumblr media
2. Katherine “Kate” Ross - Tatyana Ali
Tumblr media
The younger twin and the “baby girl” as Bill refers to her. Do NOT call her “Kathy” Kate will do. She’s also Clark Kent’s close childhood friend along with Chloe Sullivan and Lana Lang being her BFFs. She’s a bit more reserved than her twin, but she is amicable and empathetic towards her peers. An aspiring singer, straight A student, and avid shopper of the latest styles.
3. William “Bill” Ross- Dee Jay Jackson
Tumblr media
The head of the Ross family. Once the owner of the Ross Creamed Corn Factory is now a well trusted lawyer in Smallville. (Formerly) married to Abigail and dotes on their 5 children. He can be stubborn, but he is loyal, understanding, and a natural leader.
4. Abigail Ross- Felecia M. Bell
Tumblr media
The matriarch of the Ross family and former wife of Bill. She was born in Metropolis before getting her law degree in Kansas, marrying Bill, raising their 5 children, and becoming the county court judge in Smallville. Two things that she doesn’t play about: her family and serving justice for the people.
5. Mark Ross- Jaleel White
Tumblr media
Bill and Abigail’s first born. A former football star and valedictorian of Smallville High, but he aims to follow in the footsteps of his parents by running his own law firm in Metropolis after he receives his degree at Harvard Law. He sometimes has to essentially play the “3rd parent” role to his younger siblings, but cares for his family nonetheless.
6. Michael “Mike” Ross- Ron Brown
Tumblr media
The second son of the Ross family. Just like Mark and Bill, the best years of his life were playing for the Smallville High Crows. He received a full ride to play for KSU and study Political Science. The goal for the pro didn’t work out, he soon plans to run for office one day in Metropolis and give back to his community in Smallville. Sometimes he feels inadequate compared to his older brother, but is reassured he’s on the right path by his family.
7. Samuel “Sam” Ross - Nate Parker
Tumblr media
The third born of the Ross Family. Another former athlete and alumni of Smallville High. He attended KSU to receive a BA in Criminal Justice to become a detective. He wants to resolve criminal issues and protect citizens in cities such as Metropolis, Smallville, and Gotham. He goes with the flow in some areas, but two things he takes seriously are his family and justice.

I'm reading the HEXTALL article. And holy fucking hell, it is so damning. Beyond the whole fucking contract-gate fiasco that Sid, Kris AND Sully had to talk Geno down from there is just SO MUCH rage inducing parts. I'm gonna C&P some parts that truly stuns me.
To help sell a skeptical public on the new hockey leadership, Morehouse cooked up a story that Lemieux was heavily involved in the process.
OMFG. THEY LIED ABOUT LEMIEUX HIRING HEXTALL & BURKE?!
And the trades!!!
Hextall put Kapanen on waivers the day after fans chanted for his firing. Somewhat shockingly, the St. Louis Blues claimed him.
AND.
Hextall later enraged players and coaches by putting Brock McGinn on waivers while McGinn was enjoying some family time on the team’s annual “dad’s trip” in Nashville. Sullivan was forced to deliver the news.
Fuck, Sully really hated HEXTALL.
A four-game losing streak extended into the first week of November. By then, an exasperated Sullivan resorted to making one regular — Kasperi Kapanen, whom Hextall controversially re-signed during the offseason — a repeated healthy scratch. Days later, Sullivan asked Hextall for the first, but not final, time to trade for a defensive upgrade, specifically Jakob Chychrun, who was being shopped by the Arizona Coyotes.
Just WTF. And of course making Sidney Crosby DISAPPOINTED in the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Crosby rushed to console his now former teammate and after a few minutes returned to the dinner. “That’s not how we do things in Pittsburgh,” he said. Crosby remained mostly quiet the rest of the night.
What a shitshow. Fucking hell. He traded away Pens' future, wanted to break the core 3, ANGERED SULLY, made Sidney Crosby disappointed, and WASTED this fucking precious year for Sid, Geno & Kris. Fuck.

-----
Every holiday was a reason for the Chaos Squad to party. Even Valentine's Day. Which is why on Feburary 13th, the Hard Deck was closed to the public, and it was just them.
Fanboy watched as Lucky knocked back quite a bit of alcohol. She had just had another appointment with her OBGYN, but still no good news. He knew she was trying to forget, but he had Spicy bring her waters with every other drink.
"Is she going to be okay?" Whiskey asked.
"She's going to hate herself in the morning."
The night was going well when the topic of Valentines came up for real, everyone discussing their plans. That's when Lucky gets the idea in her hazy mind. Nobody suspects a thing as she gets up from the table. They all figure she's going to pee for the 100th time.
Instead, two seconds later, she is standing on the bartop.
"Lucky, please get down from the bar." Ice said.
"No, I have an idea."
"Oh, this is going to be great." Jake muttered.
"Have you guys ever thought about how amazing it is that we've all met our better halfs?"
"Lucky, honey, please get down from the bar." Ice pleads again.
"Like you! You met Dragon, and you two are amazing together."
Dragon laughs, "thank you sweet girl."
"And I'm sure your first meeting was adorable. In fact, I can picture it now." Lucky gets off the bar, super gracefully by the way, "I can see Ice looking so cool, leaning up against the wall." She leans aganist the bar and puts her aviators on before lowering her voice, "I'm Mr. Ice Cold, No Mistakes."
Ice had been holding in a laugh, but he let it out because, unfortunately, she wasn't wrong.
"Then I can just imagine this gorgeous woman, Dragon, obviously walks by and Mr. Ice over here just melts." She puts her hand over her heart. "That's the girl for me."
"That's pretty accurate to how it happened actually." Slider interjects.
"Thanks, Uncle Sli, and I'm sure it was similar for you and Whiskey. You are just standing there like a Greek God when she rolls up." Lucky says, getting a laugh out of the couple.
"Oh Mickey, come up here and help me."
He groaned but got up anyway, not knowing what to expect.
"Okay, so pretend Mickey is Slider, I know he's too short, but bear with me."
"Wow, so sweet of you."
"Shut up and be a himbo.".
Mickey just stood there, and Baylie huffed but got back into character as Whiskey.
"Heyyyy Slider."
"Hi Jade." Mickey playing along.
"You know you're like really cute." Lucky says twirling her hair. "and I'm like super into cute men with no brains."
Mickey breaks character to laugh at the way she's trying so hard, and he's not the only one.
"Hey, I have some brains!" Slider says, feigning hurt.
"Shut up, Ron. I'm enjoying the show." Whiskey said, patting his thigh.
"I'm just saying you guys met at Top Gun, and that's so cute!" Lucky says. "I'm sure you two big men saw two gorgeous women who were mean to you and fell in love."
She turned to Goose and Scarlet, who were both laughing so hard that they had turned matching shades of...scarlet...
"Then you two!"
"Oh no." Scarlet hid her face in her hands.
"I can picture it, Goose at the piano playing some old ass song." She paused, and the group watched as an idea washed over her leading to a devilish grin. "Kind of like this." She says as she walks over to the piano.
"Does she know how to play the piano?" Spicy asked.
Mickey shakes his head.
"Someone should be recording this." Jake says, "this is the best thing ever."
Lucky hits a few random keys, making everyone wince. "You shake my nerves, and rattle my brains." She sings, her voice not bad but definitely off beat.
"So he's sitting there playing this stupid song, and this gorgeous redhead walks in and sees this tall drink of water sitting on the bench."
"Ew." Rooster whispers.
"Grow up Rooster, anyways knowing Goose he probably tells her to take a seat in his lap and despite not knowing him she takes the invitation. He serenades her with old songs all night long, and from that night forward they were in love."
Scarlet wipes an actual tear from her eye.
"Then a few years later, they had a son and named him Bradley even though Dumbass was more appropriate."
"Hey!"
"She's not wrong." Spicy playfully elbows Rooster in the ribs.
"And that dumbass found his perfect person much in the same way as his parents. In this very bar. Penny hired this gorgeous woman and she was behind the bar." For added effect Lucky jumped over the bar, Ice damn near chokes on his drink with worry.
"So imagine Spicy behind the bar, learning from the amazing queen herself, Penny. And this tall, porn stached, idiot walks in with that walk. Y'all know that walk. She looks up, completely ignoring her new bff trying to get a refill on her jack and coke." Lucky pouts. "And in that moment, I lost my wife to the biggest dumbass I know besides Jake."
"Bay, it wasn't that dramatic."
"We could have been so good together Spicy but nooooooo."
"Cariño, we'd already been together for years."
"This isn't about you Mickey."
Mickey just nods, knowing better than to argue with his wife.
"And then, then my other wife finds us and drops us for Jake. Like come on Spicy and I are both much hotter than Jake Seresin."
Cin snorted, "yes honey."
"Um excuse you?" Jake asked.
"Shut up Jake, and let me finish." Lucky said and despite wanting to fight Jake obeys. "so anyways, Jake takes one look at my gorgeous bestie and decides to stop being a man whore and nail Cin down. And somehow she looked at his big head and said yes."
"I don't have a big head." Jake pouted.
Lucky looks around, "I guess that's it really. We know how Maverick and Penny got together after like a billion years. And I still don't know how Cyclone got a hot ass bitch like Venom."
The group laughs as Fanboy helps Lucky back to her seat.
"You're forgetting someone Lucky." Whiskey points out.
Lucky looks around confused, "no I didnt."
"Honey, you forgot you and Mickey." Spicy points out.
"Oh we fucked in the closet of the cottage before it was mine." Lucky blurts out and most of the group laugh at her bluntness. Rooster and Ice look less than thrilled to know this information.
"Cariño that's not how we met." Fanboy points out.
Lucky looked him right in the eyes, "no but its when I realized I was totally, completely in love with you and I stopped fighting it."
Mickey smiles at her like they are the only two in the room.
"I'm going to vomit." Rooster says matter-of-factly before getting up from the table and heading to the kitchen, followed by his father and Jake.
Penny, Cin, and Spicy start clearing the tables. Usually Lucky would help, but after her big show she was laying her head on Fanboy's shoulder. She tries to reach for his Bud Light but he pushes it away.
"Mickeyyyy." She pouts.
"Oh, you're cut off, big time child." Ice says taking the bottle away from both of them.
"That's so mean."
"You'll get over it."
"Okie dokie."
Mickey shakes his head, but picks up his wife bridal style.
"Let's get you home Bay."
"I love you Garcia."
"I love you more."

Taking Charge (The Tide Has Turned)
(Painting by: K. Sean Sullivan)
On January 13, 1945… Nearly a month after the Battle of the Bulge began, American forces are back on the offensive. At the small Belgian village of Foy, Lt. Ron Speirs leads Easy Company, 506th P.I.R., 101st Airborne against an entrenched enemy. Earlier, a shaky officer had stopped the attack prematurely, causing Capt. Richard Winters to send in Speirs to take charge. Having rallied the men, Speirs now leads the final Easy Company assault. In the days to follow, the Allied breakout would prove unstoppable, and the Battle of the Bulge would end in victory.

FROM PUBLIC CITIZEN
On Friday night, 50 United States senators — all of them Republicans — voted to put our nation’s security in the hands of a man who is laughably unqualified.
Except it could not be less funny.
With a tie-breaking vote from Vice President JD Vance, Pete Hegseth will now be Secretary of Defense.
Pete Hegseth isn’t qualified to be shift leader at a Dairy Queen (nothing against Dairy Queen). Putting him in charge of the entire United States military is a perversion — and every one of the 50 senators who voted for him knows it.
So why did they do it?
Because they were afraid that if they did the right thing and rejected Hegseth, Donald Trump would back someone else in their next election, and assistant president Elon Musk would spend millions to defeat them.
That’s why Trump defended his nominee so aggressively once news reports indicated how horrible Hegseth’s record is. It was a test. “Look how much they fear me.” “Look how willing they are to prostrate themselves at my feet.” “Look what I’ve turned them into.”
It’s really quite pathetic how craven and insecure they are.
Especially considering that even if they did lose their seats, ex-senators do pretty well. There are cushy positions on corporate boards or as high-paid lobbyists. There are deals to be had for books, podcasts, and speaking gigs. There are roles as pundits and hosts on Fox “News.” There are shady right-wing nonprofits and “think tanks” to run. There are car dealerships and cryptocurrencies to profit from. And on and on and on.
But no, these 50 senators were so afraid of Trump and so addicted to the illusion of political power (we say “illusion” because in reality they have forsaken any actual power in abject fealty to Trump) that they were willing to put Hegseth in charge of the $900 billion Pentagon, its 3 million employees, and all its warfighting capacity.
This is a man who has shown himself unable to run a small nonprofit. A man about whom there are credible reports of excessive drinking and out-of-control behavior. And a man against whom there are multiple allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence.
This is also a man who refused in his confirmation hearing to renounce the use of torture. A man who at his hearing was unaware of a major international alliance. And a man who has argued that women should not serve in combat roles.
Let’s not forget that for generations, it is Republicans who have held themselves out as the party that supports the military and is “strong on defense.”
In case you think your senator would never jeopardize America’s national security, here are the 50 Republican senators who just sold out our troops, our veterans, and our country:
Jim Banks, Indiana John Barrasso, Wyoming Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee John Boozman, Arkansas Katie Britt, Alabama Ted Budd, North Carolina Shelley Capito, West Virginia Bill Cassidy, Louisiana John Cornyn, Texas Tom Cotton, Arkansas Kevin Cramer, North Dakota Michael Crapo, Idaho Ted Cruz, Texas John Curtis, Utah Steve Daines, Montana Joni Ernst, Iowa Deb Fischer, Nebraska Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Charles Grassley, Iowa Bill Hagerty, Tennessee Joshua Hawley, Missouri John Hoeven, North Dakota Jon Husted, Ohio Cindy Hyde-Smith, Mississippi Ron Johnson, Wisconsin Jim Justice, West Virginia John Kennedy, Louisiana James Lankford, Oklahoma Mike Lee, Utah Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming Roger Marshall, Kansas Dave McCormick, Pennsylvania Ashley Moody, Florida Jerry Moran, Kansas Bernie Moreno, Ohio Markwayne Mullin, Oklahoma Rand Paul, Kentucky Pete Ricketts, Nebraska James Risch, Idaho Mike Rounds, South Dakota Eric Schmitt, Missouri Rick Scott, Florida Tim Scott, South Carolina Tim Sheehy, Montana Dan Sullivan, Alaska John Thune, South Dakota Thom Tillis, North Carolina Tommy Tuberville, Alabama Roger Wicker, Mississippi Todd Young, Indiana
(Here are the three Republican senators who did not vote for the charlatan: Susan Collins, Maine; Mitch McConnell, Kentucky; Lisa Murkowski, Alaska.)
If you are feeling angry and/or fearful about what it will mean to have someone as devastatingly unqualified and dangerous as Pete Hegseth running the Department of Defense, join Public Citizen in a message to the 50 senators who just voted for exactly that.
Those who serve in uniform, our nation’s veterans, the hundreds of thousands of civilians who work in the military, and — most crucially of all — every single American deserve better (far better) than Pete Hegseth. You have put us all in harm’s way for no reason other than your own cowardice in the face of Donald Trump. Shame on you.
Click to add your name now.
Thanks for taking action.
For progress,
- Robert Weissman & Lisa Gilbert, Co-Presidents of Public Citizen

woof juicy news day for us pens fans. not only do we have sidney crosby’s Seduction of kyle dubas, now we have this article on Why Hextall Sucks (and how he pissed off even sidney crosby) + some angsty Geno details that i will only relish now that he’s still with us:
Early last summer, at his spacious home in Montreal, Kris Letang finally saw the document that secured his future in Pittsburgh.
No stranger to the multi-page, standard player contract, this one was particularly special. It was his fourth, and probably his last. It contained specific elements Letang and his agent required. One line read “six years.” Another read “$36.6 million.” The line that Letang really loved?: “full no-movement clause.”
Together, those words recommitted Letang and the Penguins, the only NHL franchise he had ever known. At 35, he would finish his career in Pittsburgh.
As word spread last July 7, Letang’s phone blew up. The flood of well-wishers included teammates past and present, various Penguins personnel he’d befriended over his previous 16 seasons, and family and friends. He took only a few calls. Among them: Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, his oldest and dearest teammates in Pittsburgh, who were thrilled for him.
Crosby, the Penguins captain and franchise icon, had made it clear to general manager Ron Hextall and president of hockey operations Brian Burke as far back as the 2021 offseason that he wanted the team to re-sign impending free agents Letang and Malkin so the three veterans and lifetime Penguins could take another shot at a Stanley Cup together.
Would Crosby pressure ownership to sign Malkin and Letang? “I’ve never wanted to be GM,” Crosby said. “I think they know how I feel.”
While the negotiations with Letang took longer and were more difficult than expected, Hextall’s discussions with Malkin had turned dark. Only days before the start of free agency last summer, Letang, Crosby and coach Mike Sullivan worked overtime trying to calm Malkin, who was stewing over lowball early contract offers, limited communication with Hextall and veiled public shots from Burke.
“How bad is it?” Letang asked Crosby about the state of Malkin’s emotions and the negotiations.
“Pretty bad,” Crosby said.
Hextall first irritated Malkin late in the 2021-22 season by offering a short-term contract extension to his agent, J.P. Barry. In the offseason that animosity built as weeks passed without a follow-up conversation from Hextall. On June 17, Hextall told Barry that the team’s offer was “take-it-or-leave-it,” and the next day Burke used those words to characterize the negotiations during multiple media interviews. Not surprisingly, Malkin, a sure Hall-of-Famer, went from annoyed to insulted.
For weeks leading up to and after Letang’s deal was finalized, Malkin stewed at home while Crosby, Letang and Sullivan checked in with him from afar. With no deal in sight, Malkin began speaking to his small inner circle as if his time with the Penguins was concluding.
Hextall fielded daily questions from Fenway Sports Group brass about why Malkin hadn’t yet been re-signed. Hextall was also taken aback by the barrage of calls and texts — from Penguins alternate governor Dave Beeston, from Crosby and Sullivan, from president of business operations Kevin Acklin — after reports surfaced that Malkin would test free agency. He told his agent he wanted to “show Hextall and Burke” by trying the open market.
Malkin had joked during the ’21-22 season that he was “a rich guy,” insisting he didn’t need to worry about money on his next contract. He was having a laugh, but was also somewhat serious. He had taken less than market value on two previous deals with the Penguins and expected that trend to continue on his final NHL contract.
He was about to turn 36. He wanted to play until he was 40. He sought a contract with a no-trade clause. But more than money, he needed the Penguins to show they really wanted him, something he felt was lacking, especially from Hextall. By July 11, 2022, Malkin was convinced he’d already practiced in Cranberry for the last time.
After tucking in their son, Nikita, Malkin and his wife, Anna, sat on their leather couch and looked at a summary sheet of Hextall’s latest offer: four seasons, $24.4 million total, a full no-movement clause.
Malkin was fine with what he read. The sticking point was his bruised feelings.
“They not think I good player,” Malkin wrote in a text message to Crosby.
“They not want me,” Malkin texted to Letang, who had stepped up efforts to console Malkin after signing his deal.
Malkin wanted to stay in Pittsburgh, but he no longer trusted either Hextall or Burke. Crosby and Sullivan intervened. Each spent hours on the phone with Malkin as July 11 became July 12. Careful not to tell him what to do, Crosby and Sullivan implored Malkin to “not worry about those guys” — Hextall and Burke — when making a final decision. Letang, too, jumped into the mix. Together, two-thirds of the Big Three and their coach brought up every special moment, funny story and great time they could remember to remind Malkin what they had built in Pittsburgh. Malkin paced from room to room at his condo in Fisher Island, finally beginning to feel wanted again.
As early morning shifted to late afternoon, Malkin had heard enough to make a decision. He called his agent, Barry, with instructions to re-engage with Hextall and take the offer. Upon calling, Barry was surprised to find a receptive Hextall.
After hanging up with Barry, Hextall bragged to his assistant GM, Chris Pryor, and a handful of staffers, that he “got him on my terms — that’s how you negotiate.” Malkin informed Crosby, Letang and Sullivan that he was staying. When talking to Crosby and Letang, Malkin sounded happy for the first time in a long time.
“We win next year,” Malkin told his friends. “Big year get back Cup.”
also these bits 🥺
After McGinn was put on waivers, he played a memorable final game with the Penguins, blocking shots and setting up Crosby for a dramatic tying goal in the third period. In the locker room afterward, his soon-to-be-former teammates named him player of the game, eliciting a massive roar from the group that could be heard through closed doors.
Hextall traded Teddy Blueger during the same trip. In the middle of a dinner with the players’ fathers, arranged by Crosby at Bern’s Steakhouse in Tampa, Blueger learned via social media that he had been dealt to Vegas. He and his dad abruptly left the restaurant. Crosby rushed to console his now former teammate and after a few minutes returned to the dinner. “That’s not how we do things in Pittsburgh,” he said. Crosby remained mostly quiet the rest of the night.
…Long after most of their teammates had left the locker room after the demoralizing 5-2 defeat, the Big Three remained.
Malkin was emotional, his voice rising as he spoke. He had been dreaming of his beloved parents, Natalia and Vladimir, returning to Pittsburgh for another postseason run. Instead, they’d stay in Russia.
Letang, in the adjacent corner of the room, spoke thoughtfully and contemplatively. He had been through hell and back all season, and the Penguins’ loss was another blow.
Then there was Crosby, who sits at the center of an arc of connected lockers. The Penguins captain, with gray hairs that seemed to grow more plentiful throughout the season, sat stoically. After finishing interviews, Crosby sat by himself, staring straight ahead before slowly walking out of the locker room.
sorry need to add the header too because i would totally watch this telenovella

Documentary Review - Beatles '64
Something I've said many times is this: I am a firm believer that if you are going to make a documentary about The Beatles, the filmmaker needs to shine a light on some new aspect of The Beatles’ history or present something new, otherwise they are just reiterating what was already said with the 1982 feature The Compleat Beatles and 1995′s doc mini-series The Beatles Anthology, which were the most comprehensive Beatle docs ever. Sometimes it can be interesting if it’s a close collaborator being profiled (Freda Kelly, Pete Best, George Martin, or Stuart Sutcliffe have all had interesting docs). Sometimes it can be interesting if its bringing new elements of their story to light, i.e. Ron Howard’s The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Year, which focused on their live performances and had some never-before-seen footage to present. It's easy to go back to over-analyzing what's already been over-analyzed a ton, but with The Beatles, if you want to be effective you need to dig deeper. In 2021, Peter Jackson did an excellent job with The Beatles: Get Back by having access to the Fab Four's recording of Get Back / Let It Be (read my review here). For me, I made a short documentary The Beatles Boston about their history with the city of Boston (concerts they played, connections to radio stations, etc) and my focus was to put the band's history into the regional context as opposed to show the entire history and because of that it worked as a short that played multiple Beatle events. But I digress. Now in 2024, as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Beatle-Mania hitting America, in addition to the album re-releases (my review of the 1964 album reissues is coming soon), Disney+ is premiering the new documentary film Beatles '64 this weekend.
Tumblr media
movie poster
Director David Tedeschi cut his teeth as an editor collaborating with Martin Scorsese on a number of his music docs including George Harrison: Living in the Material World and last year they co-directed Personality Crisis: One Night Only (I including it in my Best Documentaries of 2023). Now Tedeschi is directing with Scorsese producing, even though the later's presence is felt throughout this doc (he is seen interviewing some of the subjects). The focus is on the year 1964, not before and not after. Using some rare archival footage shot by Albert and David Maysles, they show the first time arriving at the airport, the first U.S. tour, the appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, the film A Hard Day's Night, and, of course, the screaming fans. Both Paul and Ringo are interviewed modern-day and there's archival interviews with John and George recollecting.

Sir Ringo Starr talking with Martin Scorsese
Bottom line: I am a hardcore Beatle fanatic, so it's now surprise I devoured this doc from start to finish. 1964 was such a packed year to get into the weeds of for them. That was the year they literally took the world by storm. But for me what made this more than just another Beatles doc was the rare and unseen footage. My goodness - we thought we had seen everything and here is some rare photos, film and first-hand accounts. I think some of the modern day interviews from the likes of Smokey Robinson, Ronnie Spector, Jack Douglas and more were excellent. In the case of Scorsese talking with Ringo, I thought it was cool because it's a legend talking with a legend and the audience can feel the mutual respect and joy both are getting from that. Can't wait for a 1965 Beatles doc and/or whatever Tedeschi does next!
For info on Beatles '64

Can I ask, who are your top 7 favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series/etc (can be canon or non-canon) and your top 10 favorite characters ever from any media? Why do you love them all?
Heya!!!
Thank you for this ask and for waiting patiently. Work again has started and I feel like I don’t have time to do anything. Anyway, to answer your questions, here they go.
I am not really big on canon couples. I have a few in mind that are a huge part of the narrative of what I am reading or watching.
1) Sherlock Holmes and John Watson (Sir ACD Canon, Sherlock BBC, Granada Holmes)
2) RonToto
3) Yukiya and Wakamiya from “The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master”
4) Yukiya and Shigemaru from “The Raven of the Empty Coffin”
5) Jane Eyre and Helen Burns from “Jane Eyre”
6) Edamura Makoto and Laurent Thierry from “Great Pretender”
7) Elizabeth Midford/Sieglinde Sullivan from “Kuroshitsuji”
Honorable mention:
Hamayū and Masuho no Susuki from “A Raven for all Seasons”
Now with the individual characters I think I have so many options. But so far my top 10 favourite characters are as follows. (And I might be cheating, 😈)
1. Yukiya
2. Toto Isshiki
3. Wakamiya
4. Ron Kamonohashi
5. Dororo and Hyakkimaru
6. Nanami Kento
7. Shizuku Hasei from “Undead Girl Murder Farce,” Aeon Flux and Mey-rin (Kuroshitsuji)
8. John Watson and SH
9. Undertaker from Kuroshitsuji
10. Hajime Yasuhara
Honorable mention:
Kawasemi Omito bc thank god for Hiroki Suzuki
I enjoy their characterisation. Often their complexities can make them do stuff that will make or break them. Of course with a few of them having an incomplete lore, like Toto and Shizuku, what one can do is create head canons for them.
