#Rody's rambling

I think the hardest part of language learning is deciding what to focus on each day.

Should I explore vocabulary? Revise grammar? Focus on something else entirely?

Also: dividing listening, reading, writing and speaking all in one day is impossible, at least for those of us who work full time.

There's just so many things. Conjugations, regular and irregular verbs. Tenses! Why are there always so many? Prepositions, gerundive, conjunctions... Heck, not even in my native language do I know how to categorize many of these things! Learnt it in elementary, forgot it ever since.

Definitely not a bad thing, languages need structure after all, but dang it's a lot.

Just finished Rot in Paradise. I was expecting a game about you and your friends being stranded on the beach and turning into water addicted zombies, not an allegory for toxic relationships where you can't help those who clearly don't want your help and how the good moments you had doesn't take away their mistreatment of you and how despite how much you love your friends you need to mourn and move on before they (literally) drown you with them.

vincent’s philosophy of love based on his absence of taste is really interesting, like the fact he only kills Manon because he thinks utilizing her in the cooking he feeds to rody will physically infuse the dish with love….since rody adored her….. Rody not eating the food he was given prior having the impression all his previous leftovers felt self absorbed snd devoid of love which is ironic for a chef who’s main job is to provide for other people. Vince has never done that. the bistro itself doesn’t cater towards the customer with its premade menus and he chases a way to find that selfless kind of love especially after he sees how loud and passionately Rody cares for Manon, he tries to express it in the only way he physically knows how. we have one character whos caring to a fault, dedicating their entire existence to serving someone else and putting their priorities above all else and another character who has exclusively lived for themselves thus far and even while trying to express love through cooking can’t do it outside of his own interest and need to accomplish creating something that feels selfless and genuine.

I wanted to focus on French today and decided to do so with monsieur Arthur Rimbaud.

Anyways, last couple of days were awful. Definitely not fun to wake up to the news that one of your biases is a sex offender, lmaon't.

adding onto my last post, vincent cooks with obsession not love and though the precise nature of his pre fabricated menus and particular recipes makes his bistro insanely successful in the culinary world it makes his food disingenuous, self serving.

Rody picks up on that. Which causes his obsession to turn from running a tight ship on the bistro to trying to find a way any way he can cook a meal that Rody will approve of. Rody wants something filled with love something selfless something created to solely bring happiness to the targeted person, and he adores Manon. It only makes sense to turn her into a meal in his mind. Rody loves Manon so much, it only makes sense that because of how much he loves her he would have no other reaction then completely and entirely enjoying something literally made out of her…

and using that logic in the 4th ending…it only makes sense that Rody is the ingredient that would finally allow Vince the joy of taste….right?
