“You can’t imagine what it was like; parties that took weeks of planning, the great decorators like Billy Haines who would re-do a house for just a party. Marion Davies once turned her beach house into a circus tent and the guests came dressed as clowns, bareback riders, acrobats, etc. Imagine Marlene Dietrich, Clark Gable, Norma Shearer dressed for a circus party ! Marion also gave great parties at San Simeon, that fantastic palace of William Randolph Hearst’s.
They were incredible days . . . like a gorgeous, magnificent movie, with all kinds of people, the Jock Whitneys and Nelson Rockefellers, politicians from Washington, people from Europe. And there were the famous parties at Chaplin’s . . . exclusive, small parties for the more intellectual set … Somerset Maugham, Noel Coward, John Steinbeck, mad people like Fitzgerald and Hemingway.”

Hello there! I absolutely love your work and it's absolutely amazing! I was wondering if you could do "spending the holidays with them" headcannons with heizou, albedo, kazuha, and any other male genshin character you would like to add in? Ofc no rush and take all the time you need. It's your choice if you would like to do it or not and I'm fine if you don't 😊 Again, I just really wanted to say that I love your work and think its amazing! Happy Holidays!
you spend the holidays together.
i ran with kazuha’s part. sorry for the angst, i just couldn’t help myself. happy holidays!
includes: heizou, albedo, kazuha.
warnings: gender neutral reader, slight angst in albedo’s and kazuha’s part. i tried to make it so that no matter what holiday you celebrate, you can still read (and hopefully enjoy!) these.
heizou.
you spend a day in the city together.
you take the train down to grand central station, and immediately head towards rockefeller center. it’s cold, and you really want to take a cab, but heizou insists its “too expensive” and that it’s “easier to walk.”
you relent, allowing heizou to walk you past the waiting cabs, and into the bitter cold. he leads you on forty-fifth east street, and then onto fifth avenue, but after about fifteen minutes of walking, you’re still not there.
“are you sure we’re going in the right direction?” you ask, the new york public library coming into view.
“yeah, we’re fine,” responds heizou. “new york city’s like a grid, and since we’re on fifth, we’ll be fine.”
you were most certainly not fine. especially when the empire state building comes into view. you didn’t know much about the city, but enough to know that it was nowhere near rockefeller. and when you ask a random stranger—a new york city native who does not want to deal with wide-eyed tourists—they confirm your suspicion.
“they said we should have went north from grand central,” you say. “we went south!”
“oh.” heizou tilts his head to the side, and then shrugs. “that’s okay. we’ll just walk—“
“we’re taking a cab.” with that look in your eyes, heizou doesn’t dare argue with you.
when you do eventually reach rockefeller center, you marvel at the decorations—the giant tree, the architecture surrounding you, the ice rink filled with figure skaters. you even take a couple pictures together—a true new york city holiday adventure.
albedo.
“it’s okay,” you promise, even as disappointment replaces the hope inside of you. “don’t worry about it… okay, i’ll see you later—bye.”
you hang up before albedo can respond back. he’s stuck half way across the country. you were supposed to celebrate the holiday together tonight with your friends but now… well, albedo wouldn’t be able to catch a flight until tomorrow morning.
you can’t stand your friends pity when you come back to the living room. you explain that albedo’s stuck in an overcrowded airport, and that he won’t be back until tomorrow. the words of condolences mean nothing; you still feel like crying, you put on a brave face, anyways.
after all, your holiday party has only just started, and you still have hours left to celebrate.
and after the initial shock and disappointment of albedo’s absence, you do eventually start to have fun. you miss him and wish he was here, but you can’t help but laugh when kaeya and diluc start arguing over who should open their present first, nor when klee opens theirs herself.
it’s only when the night’s about to wrap up when you feel the pang of absence again. soon, your guests would leave, and you’d be in an empty house all alone, with nothing but—
the sound of your front door opening halts all the “goodbyes” and “happy holidays.”
“who—?” kaeya begins, but you’re already moving past him to the door.
there he stands, illuminated by the warm porch light against the background of freshly-fallen snow.
“albedo?” you almost can’t believe your eyes, not even when you pull him in for a hug, not even when he whispers, so quietly that only you can hear it: “i’m home.”
kazuha.
this was the first holiday you’d be spending without kazuha in a long, long time.
you’d be okay, you told yourself. you had to spend the holiday season single plenty of times before; this would be no different. except… except that this was also your first time going to itto’s holiday party alone. you were only invited as kazuha’s plus one in the past—first as a friend, and then dating by the end—but itto didn’t have the heart to leave you out this year, even if you weren’t dating kazuha anymore.
that’s how you ended up standing on itto’s porch steps, debating whether you should just turn around and go home. you’re about to when the door bursts open and—
“hi.” you say lamely. the first words you’ve spoken to your ex in months.
“oh! hi,” he says. there’s an awkward silence, before he ushers you in saying, “we’ll about to have dinner… oh, you can put your gifts on the couch. i—we’ll—be in the kitchen.”
it’s so strange, the weird formality between you two now. but you do your best to ignore it. you also try to ignore the sideways glances kazuha continues to give you, but… well, based on the amount of times you’ve locked eyes, you’re not doing very well at that.
if your friends notice the tension (and how could they not?) they ignore that, too.
what you can’t ignore is that kazuha… didn’t get you anything. he doesn’t even look at you when you all exchange gifts, not even once. so you shove the gift you bought him away, and pretend your smile is real as everyone else opens their remaining gifts.
“i should get going now,” you annouce to no one in particular. and after several goodbyes and warm wishes and happy holidays, you’re almost out the door. that is, until kazuha stops you.
“[name], wait,” he says, coming to the door. “you… you forgot this.”
your face warms when he presents the bag with his gift in it. you debate just taking it and saving your pride—that’s what you should do.
“that’s…” you sigh. “that’s your gift.”
the room quiets. itto whistles. kazuha freezes. he looks down at the bag, at the name tag addressed to him.
then he’s moving, to where he was sitting earlier, back to the front door, standing right in front of you. kazuha holds out a neatly wrapped present. “and this… is your gift.”
you both stand there, not quite knowing what to do, what this means. but, if you were able to start dating during your first holiday party spent together… maybe, just maybe, something like that could happen again.

Christmas is in full swing in New York City; lines snake through Midtown as tourists oggle department store windows and the Rockefeller Center tree, and the Union Square Holiday Market is bustling with vendors and shoppers. All the while, hotel prices are up and vacancies down compared to the 2022 holiday season—and there are almost no short-term rentals, like Airbnbs, for people to book.
It’s too soon to say there’s no room at the inn this holiday season—searches on Airbnb for places to stay during Christmas and New Year’s Eve in New York City bring up hundreds of hotel rooms, rooms in apartments, and rentals claiming to be exempt from new rules in the city. But many of the short-term whole apartment rentals that Airbnb was known for are gone.
With short-term rentals all but banned, early data shows hotel rooms are getting pricier and harder to come by. New York City’s new short-term rental regulations, which took effect in September, are among the most restrictive of any large city in the world. Such restrictions haven’t stopped people from visiting the Big Apple—and this holiday season is a major test of the city’s new rules.
The city’s clampdown on Airbnbs and other short-term rentals seems to be part of what’s sending interest in hotels soaring. Searches for hotels in New York City during the last two weeks of December are up 25 percent year over year, according to data from Expedia Group, which is also the parent company of Vrbo, another short-term rental booking platform. Times Square hotels in particular are up 55 percent in searches, and neighborhoods like Chelsea, Central Park South, Union Square, and Herald Square are all also seeing spikes.
Hotel bookings and prices are inching upward, too. In November 2022, 79 percent of hotel rooms were occupied, with an average cost of $307 a night according to CoStar, which tracks commercial real estate intel. But in November 2023, occupancy climbed to 84 percent, and the average nightly cost hit $333. By the first week of December, occupancy jumped to 90.3 percent, up from 89.6 percent in early December 2022. The average nightly cost swelled from $416 to $477 from December 2022 to December 2023.
It’ll only get busier. Some 64.5 million people are predicted to visit in 2024, according to New York City Tourism + Conventions, the city’s official tourism marketing organization. That’s up from a forecasted 61.8 million this year. This year’s tourism numbers didn’t top records set in 2019, but they got closer, showing that people are returning to travel at near pre-pandemic levels.
The disappearance of short-term rentals may disproportionately affect guests that don’t fit in a small New York hotel room, like families with kids. “Those people are either having to pay up for more expensive hotel offerings that are comparable to Airbnb, or are simply not able to visit the city,” says Sean Hennessey, a professor at the New York University Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality.
That’s what happened to Mia Heil, who is bringing her family of five to New York City from Houston the week between Christmas and New Year’s. She had booked a three-bedroom apartment on Airbnb and didn’t know about the rule change until the host canceled their stay the following day. Because they already had flights, Heil says she scrambled to find a hotel room that could fit the family. The effective end of Airbnb in the city doesn’t mean her family wouldn’t have visited New York, Heil says, but she might have come at a different time when hotel prices were lower.
Hennessey says the registration law may be just part of what’s driving prices up. Some people might be traveling for the first time post-pandemic. The city is also now housing thousands of migrants in hotel rooms—though many remained open to visitors this summer.
Airbnb allowed stays through December 1 to remain booked as part of a grace period, so this month is the first one where people are truly pushed to find other places to stay. “Visitors to New York City have fewer accommodation options due to the rule change, which means less choice and higher prices” says Taylor Marr, housing market economist at Airbnb. “As a result, many tourists could be priced out of visiting the city, especially during peak periods such as the holiday season, resulting in economic loss for local workers and businesses.”
The registration law was meant to crack down on a proliferation of short-term rentals in New York City, many of which had long been banned by a rarely enforced law. Those in favor of the rule say short-term rentals siphon away housing that could go to full-time residents and lead to rising rent costs. At one point in 2022, there were more listings for Airbnbs than there were apartments for long-term lease in New York City.
But opponents argue that it bans not only big-time landlords but also middle-class city residents who are renting out just one unit to make ends meet. Both hosts and booking platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo who violate the rule by listing unregistered properties can face fines. The number of short-term stays, those for fewer than 30 days, fell from some 22,000 this summer to around 3,700 as of November 1, according to Inside Airbnb, a housing advocacy group that tracks the platform. The number of short-term stays has always been dwarfed by hotel rooms, of which New York City has around 128,000, according to Vijay Dandapani, president and CEO of the Hotel Association of New York City. Dandapani says 15,000 of those rooms are housing migrants, and another 7,000 are closed.
As of Monday, the city’s Office of Special Enforcement, which oversees the short-term rental registrations, has received more than 5,000 applications from hosts, granted 971, denied 732, and sent more than 2,000 back to applicants for additional info. Christian Klossner, the office’s executive director, tells WIRED that the office has not issued any fines to those in violation of the registration law yet, as the city is still working with booking platforms on compliance.
To cope with the ban, some hosts are moving away from platforms like Airbnb and instead listing apartments on sites like Craigslist and in Facebook groups, and on alternative rental platforms such as Houfy. Some advertise their stays for Christmas and have weekly rates. One asks people to provide an Airbnb profile with guest reviews when requesting to book.
Ultimately, the short-term rental rule is good business for hotels—even if the jury is out on it being a good thing for New Yorkers. And some of that current occupancy squeeze may lessen in coming years: More than 70 new hotels are expected to open in the city in the next three years, bringing 10,000 additional rooms, according to New York City Tourism + Conventions. The end of Airbnb in New York doesn’t signal the end of tourism, but it’s already looking pretty different.

Seafood Nights at the Admiral Club Manila Bay in Admiral Hotel Manila - M Gallery
Thursday and Friday evenings just got more exciting as Admiral Hotel Manila proudly offers its Seafood Night dinners at the Admiral Club Manila Bay. Guests can catch an array of specialties such as grilled spiny lobsters, cajun prawns, Rockefeller oysters and so much more.
The Hungry Kat was invited back at the Admiral Hotel Manila - M Gallery two Fridays ago to enjoy this delightful weekend offer. Our family actually loves dining at the Admiral Club, usually during their Sunday Brunch Buffet and especially with our Accor Plus dining discounts. This time, we were here for something even more special with the buffet station overflowing with their signature seafood dishes and specialties.
Set along the sweeping Roxas Boulevard, the Admiral Hotel Manila is a gorgeous hotel offering a storied legacy, a prime location, and lavish indulgences in many forms. A gateway to the city’s vibrant past and present, this luxury boutique hotel is designed to evoke Manila’s Golden Age. We were hosted by Ms. Katrina Nocom, Assistant Director for Marketing Communications at Admiral Hotel Manila.
Before we started with the seafood night, we had some time to relax at the Coconut Grove which you can find on the roofdeck level just outside Admiral Club Manila Bay. The hotel is currently featuring their World Cocktail Month celebration so we had to try some of their signature destination cocktails that lets you sip your way around the world.
The Coconut Grove is a day-to-night alfresco rooftop destination where Miami party vibe meets Manila’s tropical flair. The panoramic Manila Bay view is best enjoyed with a drink in hand as you kick back to the funky soundtracks from the in-house DJs. Stunning sunsets are served with a fine selection of specialty crafted cocktails and a delicious menu of classic bar bites with a twist and elevated tapas.
After watching the sunset, we then went inside the Admiral Club Manila Bay. This is a unique rooftop dining destination located on the top floor of the Admiral Hotel which comes with a stunning view of the Manila Bay sunset and even a catwalk table that will spice up your dining experience.
The food philosophy is inspired by The Admiral’s travels around the world, perfectly executed by passionate Chefs crafting a-la-minute delights from East to West. Taking inspiration from his travels, he celebrates a sense of community with story-telling and curated dining experiences.
Seafood Night at The Admiral Club is available every Thursday and Friday from May 9, 2024 to July 26, 2024 for P4588 nett per person. If you have an Accor Plus membership card, you can even get a 10% discount on this price. Let's start with some appetizers from the Grazing Table where guests can enjoy various cold cuts, cheeses, pintos, and salads.
Next up is the Asian Atelier which features a collection of authentic noodles and flavorful broth. There's also a selection of steamed dimsum baskets, sliced roasted duck, and Lechon Macao.
Since it's seafood night, there's more seafood dishes on the buffet table including sweet and sour fish fillet, steamed fish, blue crabs, shrimp, and more.
Over at the Japanese Station, there's some pretty Takoyaki or Japanese Octopus Balls topped with mayonnaise and garnished with bonito flakes.
Of course, there will always be sushi and sashimi for everyone. Admiral Club offers a creative selection of nigiri, sushi, maki, and fresh sashimi together with an assortment of Japanese cold starters like udon.
There's also a pasta station with other international dishes like Sausage Alla Vodka, Mussel Marineire, Fajitas Pork, and Beef Stroganoff.
The highlight of Seafood Night is here at the seafood station which houses all our favorite fresh seafood items.
There's fresh Oysters on display which you can devour as is, or you can also have a few of them baked with cheese and turned into Rockefeller Oysters.
Choose the seafood items you like and have them grilled and delivered straight to your table. There's plenty of salmon, tuna, squid, prawns, blue crab, mussels, and other varieties of fish to choose from.
I had quite a few rounds of these delicious seafood which comes fresh and hot off the grill. I particularly liked the salmon and the prawns.
But the best items that you can have at Seafood Night are definitely these Spiny Lobsters! These are not on display at the seafood station but you can order them directly from the waiters. You can have the lobsters grilled or baked with different ingredients and sauces.
Seafood Night is not just about seafood, because there are also plenty of meats for the carnivores. The grill station also showcases various skewers with chicken, pork, and beef.
Then there's the carving station with this juicy US Angus Steak as the centerpiece. Ask for a slice or two of this premium beef then have it seared at their state-of-the-art Josper grill charcoal oven.
Make sure to save room for desserts because the Dessert Station at Admiral Club Manila Bay is one that you should not miss. Enjoy all these colorful sweets and treats such as the Chocolate Fountain, crepes, cakes, macarons, fruits and other bite-sized delights.
My favorite here is the Ice Cream Spinning Wheel which comes with 16 flavors, 16 colors, and 16 shades of sweetness for everyone. Some of the unique flavors you can find here include the Kinder Bueno, Coconut Milk, Leche Flan, Dalton, Mangga't Suman and many other interesting variants.
The night wasn't over yet, because after our spectacular seafood night dinner, we headed down the hotel's hidden entrance for a nightcap at the enchanting Ruby Wong's Godown.
Ruby Wong’s Godown is a hidden and exotic locale that will transport you to another place and time. Located on Admiral Hotel Manila's basement level, the very colorful bar calls out to its lost patrons who have seemingly stumbled into this hidden corner of the city.
I was introduced to Ruby Wong's Godown last year and I was really amazed by this charming speakeasy (Read: Ruby Wong’s Godown: A Hidden Speakeasy Inside Admiral Hotel Manila). We asked the bartender to prepare some of their signature concoctions to welcome the upcoming weekend.
The Fiery Dragon (P500) is a magical interpretation with its mixture of Mezcal Durango, bell pepper cordial, fire water tincture, plus lime and grapefruit juice. The dragon exhales a puff of smoke and presents this chalice to its chosen warrior. The one of the right is one of their new creations for World Cocktail Month which are also available here at Ruby Wong's Godown.
Another cool libation is the Green Opium Heaven (P800). This one packs quite a punch and comes with jasmine-infused Roku, Tanqueray No. 10 gin, sage-infused Mancino Blanco, Kaffir tincture pandan, and a herb cigarette to complete the incantation. We would like to thank Admiral Hotel Manila for letting us get a taste of their Seafood Night and their World Cocktail Month beverages. Make sure to catch these special promotins and enjoy the best that Manila has to offer.

Atlanta Wedding Photographers Capture Ceremony at Historic Decatur Wedding Venue and Restaurant
This week is Jennifer and Ezequiel. They had a beautiful, intimate wedding at the Kimball House in Decatur. The weather was perfect for the wedding day, attended by best friends and family.
Jennifer contacted me last year and told me about her unique wedding. Within a few minutes I could tell this is a person who knows what she wants. The more I talked to her, I could tell how kind she was and how much she cherishes her friends and family.
The wedding venue was The Kimball House, which is not only a great restaurant, but the perfect wedding venue for a small wedding in Decatur. The name comes from the historic Kimball House Hotel, which opened in the late 1800s and was razed in 1950 in downtown Atlanta. The Kimball House restaurant is the remodeled historic Decatur train depot built in 1891 off of the Decatur Square near Agnes Scott College. The restaurant still has the original train tracks beside it, along with the wrap-around loading dock. The interior has the original refurbished wood floors where you can see the remnants, of where it has been worn from freight and passengers. It has been a Decatur landmark for many years!
On the day of the wedding Ezequiel was the first to arrive. He was dressed smartly in a classic subtle plaid suit and tie. He checked in with the Kimball House coordinator and had a quick cocktail. Once he was done we went outside and took a few photos. During that time we also chatted. He praised Jennifer’s kindness and generosity towards others. He was in awe of her intelligence and culinary skills. He described their relationship as a perfect fit because they were so complementary of each other.
After the photos guests started to trickle in. Ezequiel greeted them and showed them around. The guests enjoyed HoneySuckle 3s, Alpine Tonic, or Old Fashioneds, the wedding’s signature cocktails. There were also some of the Kimball House famous appetizers: oyster rockefeller, prosciutto and a variety of imported cheeses.
After the guests arrived Jennifer came to the wedding with her mom. Jennifer wore one of my favorite dresses I have seen in a long time. Like all great dresses it was a reflection of the bride's taste and personality. Like Jennifer, the dress was a classic! It reminded me of an early movie star's dress. It had delicate piping and relief patterns that gave it that star quality that you could see someone wear at a movie premier.
Before the ceremony we took a few photos around the area, on the train tracks, and the different historic relics around the restaurant. We even went across the street where Jennifer and Ezequiel had their first date. Of course we had to take a photo at the table where they sat. Once done we headed back to the restaurant
The ceremony was short and sweet. It was performed by one of Jennifer’s old friends she had known since high school. It was such a touching ceremony surrounded by some very supportive friends and family. Once they were pronounced husband and wife the guests cheered! It was official, Jennifer and Eziquiel were married!
The guests and newly wedded couple went inside and enjoyed a meal at one of Atlanta’s best restaurants. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day! Congrats to Jennifer and Eziquiel! May peace and love reside in your hearts for many years to come!
Thanks for checking out this Atlanta wedding photographers blog! I hope you enjoyed the read and found it interesting! Redstone Castle in Redstone, Colorado Redstone Castle, also known as Cleveholm Castle, is a large timber-frame mansion located just outside Redstone, Colorado. It was built in the early 20th century to serve as the home of John C. Osgood, founder of the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company, in a simplified version of the Stick style. The house measures a whopping 24,000 square feet, divided into 42 rooms. When it was first built, Osgood was one of the richest men in the United States. He regularly entertained famous guests, the likes of whom included Theodore Roosevelt and John D. Rockefeller. After Osgood died in 1926, his wife Lucille attempted to turn the house into a resort, but the arrival of the Great Depression put a stop to those plans and she sold the property. Eventually, the mansion did turn into a resort and hotel. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/redstone-castle
