I had a really cool/weird dream once
So first of all, it's Playmobil the movie.
Marla's parents are somehow alive and they meet Marla, Del, Rex, Charlie and Robotitron.
Then, Rex becomes jealous at Marla's dad?? (Apparently this dream ships Marla x Rex) and he tries to set him up/frame Marla's dad.
And then one day the lot going to the Colloseum for the arena show. There's Max, and there's loads of other people standing in the same balcony as him. Max having lots of siblings/cousin's/relatives??
And then the game starts and there's this knight dressed up in dark brown with red glowing eyes on the helmet. Once he got beaten up, he reveals himself, it turns out he's dark choco cookie from the cookie run franchise, and he confessed he's MAX'S SON??? Like gyat damn
The line goes like this:
DC: "I'm... I'm your son." *Takes off helmet.* "Hello father."
Max: *slightly sobbing* "Son... It's been so long."
*crowds awwed and they reunited and and the crowd cheers*
Yeah so weird dream

I will always adore the scene when Del and Marla go to Glinara and Robotitron is thrown down the stairs and it gets helped by the two of them and gets such an adorable vision of Marla's soft expression and her saying that they're not gonna hurt it, like, it's been treated like shit no wonder the poor thing is in adoration of someone being nice to it

Playmobil Robotitron - aka Robby, aka Roboter - on my desk. It's the same thing as the 1980s mold, but they reissued it for Playmobil: The Movie which you'll be forgiven for not having seen. (Heck, I haven't seen it.) I just bought a set because I always wanted the old robots.
True story, early in the line's run they were distributed in the USA in Mattel-branded packaging as well as distributed by Schaper, who handled the Stompers monster truck toys.
I picked this up a couple weeks ago at a Tuesday Morning store's clearance rack, which is one of the great sources for cool toys that you missed. The pickings have been slim since the pandemic, but I did see more than a few Playmobil: The Movie sets of varying levels of interest for the price.

Where do we begin with Lino DiSalvo? Thankfully that’s a question I don’t need to answer as IMDB has done a great job summarizing his career since graduating from VFS long ago. Allow them the honour below!
“Lino DiSalvo is an American animator, film director, writer and voice actor. Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Franklin Square, Long Island. As a child, DiSalvo was a fan of the early animated feature films from Disney and then, as a teenager, became inspired to pursue animation after seeing The Lion King in 1994. With the encouragement of his parents, he left for Vancouver, Canada. After graduating from Vancouver Film School he joined Walt Disney Animation Studios. DiSalvo spent almost 17 years at Disney and served as Head of Animation on Frozen. His other credits include supervising animator on Tangled and Bolt; and animator on Meet the Robinsons, Chicken Little, 102 Dalmatians and Reign of Fire. He served as Creative Director for Paramount Animation before joining Paris-based, ON Animation Studios (producers of 2016's The Little Prince) as Head of Creative. His directorial debut, Playmobil: The Movie, based on an original story of his, is set for release on August, 2019. DiSalvo has also voiced the characters of "Vinnie the Pigeon" in Bolt, "Gristletoe Joe" in Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice, and "Robotitron" in the upcoming Playmobil: The Movie. DiSalvo is currently developing his next animated feature, The Badalisc, which is inspired by Italian folklore and draws heavily from his cultural heritage.”

With the release of PLAYMOBIL: The Movie I was sent some of the sets that feature in the film. Take a look at my previous post Let’s get epic with PLAYMOBIL: The Movie! As this has details about all of the sets that are available.
Being asked to review toys is certainly something different and I felt for a better reception to it would be for a child to join in with the review! Therefore I asked my cousin if his daughter would like to try them out! So we also have Pippa aged 5 who already has some PLAYMOBIL sets and straight away knew how to put them together.
I was very kindly sent three different sets:
Rex Dasher with Parachute (5 pieces)
Robotitron with Drone (18 pieces)
Del’s Food Truck (110 pieces)
I asked Pippa which set she would like to start with and that was obviously the biggest one! So we started with Del’s Food Truck. I was well aware that it was going to have 110 pieces but when you actually open the box and then start to open the packets for these pieces you fully realise just how difficult it can be to put together. Not in a bad way just that it will take a little bit of time to set it all up.
I opted to follow the instructions as it also includes stickers to really make the van and objects look the part. Including cans that you needed to wrap a sticker around for food as well! The level of detail really was something else, with four pieces being put together to make a burger, that is something I found very impressive.
It was a team effort and Pippa enjoyed putting parts together and filling the inside of the food truck with the different draws as well as setting up the shower feature! The stickers really did make a huge difference to it all and I have to admit I wasn’t sure how it was going to look when we started and if it would actually look like the box or not . . .
As you can see it was a huge success and got a thumbs up from Pippa!
Robotitron with Drone which actually has a feature which fires out projectiles. This was a lot more powerful than I expected which also meant plenty of fun firing it out. We even set it up to try and hit a target with them, inside of targeting people (that may or may not have been my idea 😂).
The final set was Rex Dasher with Parachute and this was the smallest one as Rex just had to be attached to the parachute. Although the instructions of how to tie the knot seemed rather impossible but luckily I managed to get him securely in the parachute. Considering it rained most of the day we were lucky that it had stopped so we could go outside and try out and see if he would fly very well, it was pretty windy which was always going to be an advantage.
As you can see in the video the key was to try and throw it as high as possible, I had one attempt which unfortunately wasn’t videoed as Rex flew over the fence and was then stuck in the tree. So that confirms that it could fly very well in the wind when it was caught right, Pippa on the other hand was rather upset by this but I ran round and retrieved him from the tree (see photo in the video).
I feel the best praise for the PLAYMOBIL items was that Pippa throughly enjoyed playing with them and putting the pieces together, with a little bit of help for the smaller stickers and pieces. I am sure these will be a huge hit with children of all ages and I enjoyed putting them together myself and throwing the Parachute one!
After experiences some of the sets from the movie I will now be taking Pippa to see it next weekend at the cinema, so a film review will also follow!

okay so i read allies are connected by a common cause for mutual benefit and friends are connected by a bond
but after the film Marla and Robotitron go from allies to friends it just makes sense

give playmobil lgbtq+ hcs, as many as you want!
sure!! i have talked about them but they’ve been more of a mishmash, so here’s more of an elaboration of them!!
Emperor Maximus (the villain and ruler of Constantinopolis): Gay as hell (and I ship with Rex in a hero/redeemed villain dynamic, especially RPing as Rex and interacting with someone RPing as Max) and this is not remotely helped by how dramatic he is and the fact that he’s voiced by Adam Lambert of all people, a well-known(?) gay singer (it really shows; I cannot separate the two so much in my mind)
Rex Dasher (secret agent - and yes one of my main fictional crushes; something is just so inherently attractive about secret agents in fiction): Bi spy (and I ship with Maximus in a hero/redeemed villain dynamic; headcanon that his most prominent relationship was with a lady he met at uni, but they end up realising they were two different people and he found out later that she got engaged to someone else)
Nola (blue alien bounty hunter - i also think she’s kinda cute): Nonbinary lesbian (I ship with Valera)
Valera (Amazonian warrior): Lesbian (I ship with Nola)
Ook Ook (caveman): Nonbinary/genderfluid and uses they/them pronouns (unsure of orientation but is definitely not straight; bi is sticking the most out to me though and I ship them with Bloodbones)
Del (food truck driver): Gay or bi, but definitely is attracted to guys
Marla Brenner (main character; gets sucked into Playmobil alongside her brother): Unsure; I alternate between lesbian and pan a lot but she definitely is attracted to the ladies, although I have ended up also headcanoning her as ace too (self-projection for the win)
Fairy Godmother (Marla finds her when she’s feeling lost and helpless in a forest with Robotitron after being ditched by Del and helps her): Probs lesbian or bi, but she definitely likes the ladies
Bloodbones (pirate): Probs pan (I ship him with Ook Ook)
Charlie Brenner (Marla’s 10 year brother that ends up in Playmobil as a Viking figure): I can see him as a bi trans boy; Marla is v accepting of her little brother

FOTD: Playmobil The Movie Robotitron with Drone!
http://16bit.com/fotd/210831-70071-robotitron-movie-glider-drone.shtml
The Drone is very similar from an existing spy theme set, and the robot doesn't quite connect with it like a normal figure does. I got this because I always wanted that old style Playmospace robot and finally got one.
The drone toy feels like an undercooked action figure toy - not bad, but basically a fancy pretend hang glider with spinning blades, firing rockets (that work great), and a winch. It's like a Playmobil helicopter minus the seating area, in many respects, which may not make it as thrilling of a toy for the older toy dork like me.
And that's the end of this Playmobil Month! We'll probably do another full month of Playmobil reviews later in 2021 or early in 2022.
