both the rosfield boys and jill are probably such suckers for matching accessories with their partners….. they’ve both got their ears pierced i know they would commission a pair that they wear one of on the opposite ear to yours so that ur together even when ur not. the metal stands out strong against clive’s dark hair and joshua has a habit of fiddling with it when he’s deep in thought, jill’s is probably more dangly and twinkles when she walks.

joshua’s would probably be some sort of phoenix earring (who’s surprised) that wraps around the whole shell of the ear with the feathered tail going down past the lobe. he meticulously cleans it each night and is so huffy if it gets covered in dust after a battle

jill i feel would wither be some sort of flower or a little cluster of swords, maybe she’s more of an necklace person as i’m typing this out. oh wait yes she’s so the type to have half of a locket set with you where there’s a commissioned portrait of the other when opened up

clive is more diverse in what the jewellery could be visually tbh. either the sun and moon as a set bc he’s such a sap. maybe also a wolf theme bc they mate for life (and torgal is ur son if ur dating him). perhaps also a signet ring in the shape of a shield with his chronic protector habits

I like your thinking! I imagine Clive with the signet ring would do wonders while joshua might either have an earring or some kind of brooch/pin on his clothes to match yours. Jill is def a locket girl, she’d probably be paranoid late at night that she’s been gone so long and look to it to see your face and remind herself what she’s coming back to.

And yeah Big Sugar Uncle Byron saves the day (yes he’s buying them all, he will not take no for an answer, if you try you’ll just find a nicely wrapped box at the foot of your door.)

To commemorate Cutie Honey's 50th anniversary, I wanted to post trivia for all 25 episodes. We'll start this week with the first episode: "The Black Claw Grips The Heart."

In the early drafts Honey Kisaragi was originally Honey Tachibana. Honey’s finalized surname name, “Kisaragi” (如月) is a traditional name for February in the Japanese calendar. It refers to the seasonal “changing of clothes.” The name "Honey" comes from the American TV series Honey West.

Honey was voiced by Eiko Masuyama, who would reprise this role a few times over the years, notably in the Re: Cutie Honey audio drama and the Playstation game, Little Witching Mischiefs. She also had a guest spot in Cutey Honey Flash as Dr. Kisaragi’s old friend, Dr. Mitsuko Kanzaki.

St. Chapel Academy is located in Okutama, a mountainous area that’s about an hour and a half away from central Tokyo. St. Chapel itself was most likely inspired or at least named after the real life royal chapel, Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, France. The hymn the students sing during Mass in these early episodes is “Come, Thou Almighty King.”

The freckle-faced girl who stands next to Honey during Mass is her best friend and roommate, Natsuko Aki. Although she’s almost never referred to by her full name but rather “Nat-chan.” Her first name is in reference to natsu or “summer” while aki means “autumn.” In the original manga she is depicted as having pigtails rather than a bob cut and doesn’t have freckles. Natsuko’s anime design was based on an unnamed girl who appeared briefly in the Devilman manga.

Natsuko was voiced by Rihoko Yoshida, who’s best known for voicing the titular character in Majokko Megu-chan, Maria Grace Fried in UFO Robo Grendizer, and Michiru Saotome in Getter Robo. Yoshida would also voice Panther Zora in the 1995 PC-FX video game, Cutey Honey FX. Noriko Watanabe (Sister Jill, Mami) also voiced Natsuko occasionally for whenever Rihoko Yoshida was unavailable.

Honey’s goofy teacher Ms. Alphonne Louis Steinbeck III is based on a male character from Go Nagai’s Kikkai-kun manga. That same Alphonne also served as the basis for Akira Fudo’s teacher in the Devilman TV series. 

Ms. Alphonne was voiced by the late Noriko Tsukase, who had previously voiced Mr. Alphonne’s wife and son in Devilman. Although Ms. Alphonne appears in every other animated Honey series, this is the only version where she is voiced by a woman.

During the early production stages Seiji Hayami was known as Shun Kazami and was described as "falling in love with Honey, despite knowing she’s an android." He would also have a goofy little sister named Zuuko, who would question whether she was really related to her handsome older brother. When the series details were finalized, Seiji became more of a comic relief character and his romantic chemistry with Honey was downplayed. 

Seiji was voiced by Katsuji Mori, who would go on to voice Dr. Kisaragi in Cutie Honey Universe.

Katsuji Mori revealed he had ad-libbed Seiji's lines during Honey's first transformation. Originally, Seiji had no dialogue in that scene.

Honey's motorcyclist form is called "Hurricane Honey" which is possibly an homage to Shotaro Ishinomori's Cyborg 009. The lead character, Joe Shimamura, is sometimes a professional car racer who goes by the nickname "Hurricane Joe."

Seiji refers to Hurricane Honey as kaminari musume (カミナリ娘) which translates to something like “thunder girl.” He’s actually referring to the kaminari zoku (カミナリ族) or “thunder tribes”, Japanese motorcycle gangs who were known for their loud and rowdy modified motorcycles.

Sister Jill is the manager of Panther Claw's Japanese branch and Panther Zora's younger sister. The "Sister" part of her name is likely a reference to a religious sister, circling back to Honey attending a Catholic school. In the original series pitch, she was known as Sister Zora.

Jill is voiced by the late Noriko Watanabe, who also voiced Junpei's girlfriend, Mami.

Black Claw’s name comes from the original series proposal, which described Panther Claw’s soldiers as being color coded. Potential opponents for Honey would’ve included Black Claw, Scarlet Claw, Cobalt Claw and Gold Claw. Each would have possessed a specific skill or element, for example, “Scarlet Claw” would’ve possessed fire powers. For whatever reason the whole color coded aspect was dropped but “Black Claw” was still used as the name for Honey’s first real adversary.

According to Cutey Honey Roman Album published by Tokuma Shoten in 1981, Honey's childhood memories are artificial. They were produced by Dr. Kisaragi because he wanted Honey to have childhood memories like any other human girl.

Dr. Takeshi Kisaragi was originally known as Dr. Seiji Tachibana in the original series proposal. In the original manga Dr. Kisaragi looks noticeably younger, has black hair, no glasses and a goatee instead of a mustache.

Originally, Honey was only going to transform once or twice during the first episode. Tomoharu Katsumata (director for episode one) requested that Honey use all of her main seven forms.

Some of the choreography from Honey and Black Claw’s fight is based on sequences from the Abashiri Family manga, specifically when the lead character Kikunosuke battles against teachers from Paradise Academy.

Junpei is based on Kichiza Abashiri from Go Nagai's The Abashiri Family manga. Kichiza is the youngest son of the Abashiri family and is a master of explosives. Junpei was voiced by Kazuko Sawada.

It’s probably worth noting Honey and Junpei are the only two characters to appear in every episode of Cutie Honey.

I will keep complaining about Getter Robo High's translation status until someone does the whole thing or I die, whichever happens first. It's not terribly long as manga goes, and has high quality raws easily accessible online. It may seem confusing as to why I care so much about a manga I can't read, considering dubiously canon Getter spinoffs can be extremely hit or miss. Let's go over the bullet points:

"High" is a strange romanization of "Hai," a mahjong reference. Not only is this a strangely mahjong-oriented mecha manga, but the three main characters are adults. It is not in high school, as the name would imply.

This is the only Getter manga I know of that stars three women (rather than men) as the Getter Machine pilots. They are a feral gambling addict, a sadako-styled horror ghost, and a buff robot woman.

The robos are genuinely unhinged but rad feminized variations on the original designs. As a mecha fan I say this with my whole heart, these really feel like someone wanted to fuck the robot, and I love them for it. Speaking of which,

Drill Jill.

Back when I was a teenager, I read quite a lot of hentai scanlated on the internet platonically. My first tumblr was actually an immature, edgy and frankly nasty little hentai blog that I'm happy to have nothing to do with anymore. But that means that when a particular name pops up on the art for an official Getter Robo manga, I have a fun little story to tell you.

Drill Jill is a hentai author, first and foremost. I won't speak to his character, because I don't speak japanese, but know that he specializes in noncon (or "mind break" as the online hentai community would call it) manga. Specifically, he often replaces violence with sex scenes, expressing a battle or argument physically, with a clear victor and plot resolution at the end.

The thing that makes his name really memorable to me, however, is his paneling. Granted, some pages are difficult to follow, with the busyness of the art and complete irreverence for panel borders, but their flow usually remains intact. At times, it can really feel like every single page has something to appreciate and analyze. I haven't found another artist who does it quite like this, in any genre of comics.

I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing that Drill Jill was hired to do the art for Getter Robo Hai because of his multi-chapter genderbent Getter Robo doujin, in which girl versions of the three original Getter Machine pilots get into some situations i'm sure you can predict if you've been reading up to this point. But a love for more than just weird fucking bleeds in through the edges of each chapter.

Hopefully it's immediately obvious here: Getter 3 reaching for the third panel. The beam blasting through the entire second page. The sword cutting through two panels, foreshadowing itself. These are CONSECUTIVE pages. The ero scenes are over in this chapter, but so much was still poured into these moments.

It's a hard sell to recommend people hentai, much less this kind of potentially upsetting hentai, just to gush at its paneling and page composition. So I'd like to have something a little more safe for work to suggest, and a cool robot story as well.

Keep in mind as well that Getter Robo Hai is drawn by Drill Jill, but it is not written by him. Rather, the story is by Bingo Morihashi, the scenario writer for Devil May Cry 3, 4, and 5. I'm not enough of a fan of that series to really gush over it in this post, but that may be an interesting lil detail for u (;. It's the writer and artist together who make this comic what it is, and folks who don't speak Japanese don't have access to that right now.

If you still don't care, maybe you never will. That's fine, we all have our own passions. If you do care, YELL WITH ME, SPREAD THE WORD, RAISE FUNDS FOR TRANSLATOR COMMISSIONS, FORCE EVERYONE TO LOOK AT GETTER 1'S FAT ASS AND BANKO BENIMARU'S SHARK TEETH.

Mas series vintage para la colección. En este caso otra serie donde las protagonistas son mujeres y me refiero a CHARLIE’S ANGELS (1976).Bien traducida al español como LOS ANGELES DE CHARLIE. Fue una serie estadounidense que se emitió entre los años 1976 y 1981 a través de 5 temporadas y 110 capítulos.

La serie sigue las peripecias o aventuras de 3 mujeres que dejaron el cuerpo de policía para trabajar en una agencia de detectives propiedad de Charlie Townsend, mas conocido a secas como “CHARLIE”.

El argumento inicial se resumía en las palabras que al principio pronunciaba el mismo Charlie “había una vez tres mujeres que fueron a la academia de policía. Les asignaban misiones muy peligrosas. pero yo las aparte de todo aquello, ahora trabajan para mí, yo soy Charlie”, inolvidable el introito.

Los episodios por lo general giraban en torno a una misión asignada por el a sus tres detectives, las misiones con mucha frecuencia eran arriesgadas (robos, asesinatos, secuestros y demás), que se resolvían con las tres chicas interpretando personajes de incógnito, lo que les permitían acercarse e interactuar con los sospechosos. Cabe que aclarar que el rostro de Charlie nunca se conoció, ya que se siempre se comunicaba a través de un intercomunicador. Su voz era la del actor JOHN FORSYTHE, quien luego alcanzaría la fama en la serie DINASTIA, siendo Blake Carrington.

Los tres ángeles originales fueron Sabrina Duncan (KATE JACKSON). Jill Monroe (FARRAH FAWCETT) y Kelly Garret (JACKLYN SMITH).Esta última estuvo todas las temporadas .En sucesivas temporadas varias de las actrices salieron de la serie.

La primera en irse debido a que tenía otros proyectos fue FARRAH FAWCETT (aunque tuvo apariciones especiales hasta el final de la 4ta) que fue reemplazada por Kris Munroe (CHERYL LADD), al final de la 3ra se fue KATE JACKSON y fue reemplazada para la 4ta por Tiffany Wells (SHELLEY HACK) y esta reemplazada en la 5ta por Julie Rogers (TANYA ROBERTS).Además existió otro personaje llamado Bosley (DAVID DOYLE) que era el enlace entre Charlie y sus ángeles. El show desde sus comienzo se transformó en un auténtico fenómeno mediático y sus actrices saltaron rápidamente a la fama. Con el correr de los años la serie se fue convirtiendo en un icono de la cultura pop y en una serie de culto.

La imagen de las actrices se ha reproducido en todo tipo de mercadotecnia (revistas, comics, remeras, etc.).Serie muy entretenida y mi puntaje es un 7/10.

Of course!

Fyzz and the Twins- Fyzz is a scraped Robo Fizz that was different than the others with new experimental programming (more 'free will' added to the usual 'obey owner' kinda program) that was later deemed a waste and as a result he was set to be scraped and partially destroyed while in the factory since he couldn't be sold, hence his situation, Fyzz was repurposed by Ozzie who took an interest in this 'special' robot and made stronger with better programming to suit Ozura and Fonzarelli as their around the clock (babysitter-) bodyguard whenever they need him until they get old enough to fend for themselves. Fyzz doesn't mind his situation. He loves the kids, but he's kinda scared of the real Fizzarolli. That imp can be very intimidating.

Whitney, Lucas, and Gem-Stone- Whitney and Lucas share the same bodyguard, Gem-Stone since they spend so much time together anyways. Gemmy was actually recommended to their family by Charlie who saw potential in Her unique magic abilities and odd powerful physical strength. Whitney and Gem-Stone get along fairly well but she tends to butt heads with Lucas over his opinions about her brother but little does she know that he may have deeper secret feelings.

Wild-Card and Berry- Berry's been canadate for Wild-Cards bodyguard for a while since her father's literally his mother's bodyguard. A family tradition if you will being kept.

Indigo, Helsing, and Lacy- Indigo is the reluctant bodyguard to Prince Helsing and his younger (adopted-) sister Lacey. Having been trained by both his mother and Jill in combat, Indigo is a force to be reckoned with under that fluffy fur. So far the only other person to have beaten him in combat his age is Berry who he is fairly good friends with.

Lunetta and Maxxie- Despite Maxxie's shorter height, she's a very capable fighter and personal friends with Lunetta as well as her body guard.

Charles and Gossamer- (Alternate next gens) Charles and Gossamer's relationship is...Rocky at best. Gossamer's a capable fighter being the son of a demon slayer and Vaggie, but he only really took up the position of being Charles's bodyguard was to keep an eye on him especially around his crush which just so happens to be his little sister. Charles however doesn't care or mind that Gossamer could overpower him if he oh so pleased.

The museum featured at the beginning of the episode is supposed to be the real life National Museum of Western Art. You can see Rodin's The Thinker as well as The Gates of Hell.

The artist of the ill-fated sculpture in this episode is “Pecasso,” a thinly-veiled play on the real-life artist Pablo Picasso. Although he’s best known for his paintings, the real-life Picasso did in fact create sculptures as well. However, the sculpture featured here appears to be fictional.

If you look very closely during Sister Jill’s oration, you can spot Akira Fudo from Devilman in the crowd. There’s also a girl who looks like a incorrectly colored version of his girlfriend, Miki Makimura.  The animation director for this episode, Masamune Ochiai, previously worked on the Devilman TV series.

The staff for this episode had a lot of fun with inside jokes. The name of the hospital Seiji is admitted to is called “Yabuhebi Hospital.” Yabu hebi is the abbreviation of the saying yabu wo tsutsuite hebi wo dasu or “poke a bush and a snake comes out.” An English equivalent would be something like “let sleeping dogs lie.” 

Later, Honey brings Fire Claw to the "Ichiryu Hotel." Ichiryu means first-class, top-ranking, etc. Basically saying it’s one super swanky hotel.

This episode marks the animated debut of the Hayami patriarch, Danbei Hayami. Like Junpei, Danbei is a character recycled from Go Nagai’s Abashiri Family manga. In the Abashiri manga, he was known as Daemon Abashiri, father to Kikunosuke, Goemon, Naojiro and Kichiza. It was originally producer Toshio Katsuta’s idea to incorporate Daemon and other elements from The Abashiri Family into Cutie Honey. He would later include Daemon and Kichiza in UFO Robot Grendizer as Danbei Makiba and Goro Makiba.

Danbei is said to have been born during the Meiji era, which was between 1868 and 1912. Realistically, he would’ve been born towards the end, which would make him around 62 years old during the series.

Danbei was voiced by the late Kosei Tomita, who would go on to voice Danbei/Daemon in UFO Robo Grendizer, The Abashiri Family, New Cutey Honey and finally, Cutie Honey Universe.
